Differences Of Hegel And Nietzsche
German philosophers Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 1831) and Friedrich Nietzsche (1844
1900) have traditionally been viewed as polar opposites in terms of their philosophy. Hegel has been
dubbed an idealist and a systematic philosopher who identified various different types of History,
theoretical entities and concepts. Nietzsche, on the other hand, is seen to be a counter Enlightenment
and counter systematic philosopher who penned the well known text, Genealogy of Morals . In this
essay, I aim to bring to light the underlying similarities between the two thinkers that have previously
been overlooked, as well as to identify the differences in Hegel and Nietzsche s ideologies and
presuppositions.
Hegel identifies three types of History; Original History, which is written during the historical period
being investigated, Reflective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, both Hegel and Nietzsche use the Master / Slave dichotomy to account for identity and
difference in the relationship between the powerful subject and the weak object. Both thinkers see
identity and morality emerging out of a relationship of conflict. Moreover, in both Hegel and
Nietzsche s narratives, there is a change in the structure of acknowledgment, where the antagonistic
relationship allows one side to define itself by negating the other. Both thinkers find that negation is
an integral part of identity formation. Hegel and Nietzsche both concur, in dialectical terms, Being is
represented by the object , or Master, and the subject , or Slave, is constantly in the process of
Becoming . From these similarities, is that clear that both 19th century philosophers have made a
massive impact on philosophical thought in todays day and age, despite their distinct

Examples Of Grief In Catcher In The Rye
In Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, Holden Caulfield is ineffectively trying to come to terms with
the death of Allie, his younger brother. Whenever Holden is reminded of his brother or more
specifically his death, he feels a wave of depression that he can not pass. Because he can not stop
feeling miserable, Holden cuts himself off from people in his life. The only way he feels content again
is by getting physically violent with himself or other people. Once he has become bloody and battered
enough, he sees the damages his body took, and enjoys the view, because it shows that he is tough,
something he thinks he is not. Then, Holden finally calms down and returns to his normal state.
Throughout the novel, Holden uses a cycle of grief that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

feelings are commonly seen as not masculine to have, he deals with his feelings by doing something

Compare Dover Beach And Fahrenheit 451
Introduction
At first glance, Ray Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451 and Matthew Arnold s poem Dover Beach may
not have anything in common however the inclusion of Dover Beach in Fahrenheit 451 begs to differ.
Both were written during a period of change. Arnold wrote Dover Beach during the Industrial
Revolution and Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451 shortly after World War 2. Although Dover Beach was
written a century earlier, they both consider the problems within society; the effects of an ever
changing world. The essay will attempt to consider In what ways does Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach
relate to Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 in terms of criticism of society?
Through the introduction of television, Bradbury had feared society would lead to ... Show more

Dover Beach explains sadness through the use of metaphors, glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil
bay...sweet is the night air... you hear the grating roar of pebbles draw back and fling. There is a
contrast between pleasures and displeasures such as the comparison of tranquil and grating roar . The
contrast shows that at first glance it may seem as if there is a pleasant atmosphere however, observing
the situation there is shown to be great distress. There is only a façade of happiness. In Fahrenheit 451
Montag begins to realise his unhappiness as he wore his happiness like a mask and he tells himself
happiness is important. Fun is everything. And yet I kept sitting there saying to myself, I m not happy,
I m not happy. The use of the word mask signifies the illusion of reality as people are falsifying their
true emotions and are doing so to fit into their perception of reality. There is an eternal conflict
between what the mind perceives and what really is. Both Dover Beach and Fahrenheit 451 expose
what reality is; it is not happiness it is sadness covered in lies. Society acts as if it were perfect where

415 Sity Essay
As the one of the key factors to maintain the biodiver 415 sity, in conclusion, we have addressed the
effect of initial 416 densities by investigating basins of different survival states 417 in the cyclically
competing mobile five species game on a 418 lattice. Here, basin structures are characterized by the
final 419 state in the triangular phase space. We have found that for 420 the extended rock paper
scissors game, basin structures can 421 be changed depending on the initial considerations. To be 422
concrete, two types of initial phase spaces have been consid 423 ered. When the initial space contains
three neighboring spe 424 cies, e.g., DABC, five basins of the two species survival states 425 spirally

For all possible initial considerations, the extinction 436 basin never arises which has been guaranteed
by measuring 437 the survival probability and the non existing basin area of p1. Similar to the basin
stability, 438 43 asymptotic states of the system have been obviously depicted by the area of basins of
439 distinct states. Stochastic simulations for high mobility 440 regimes on a microscopic level are
consistent with the theo 441 retical prediction on a macroscopic level and we found that 442 five
points constituting a stable heteroclinic cycle appear 443 from lattice simulations as a robust feature.
Through our 444 microscopic and macroscopic endeavors, we suggest the per 445 suasive insight for
the biodiversity associated with the 446 extended rock paper scissors game which is sensitively 447

Analysis of Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony
Introduction Felix Mendelssohn was one of the most famous composers during the 19th century.
Although in his music he did show some features of romanticism, he was strongly influenced by
traditional genres such as counterpoint etc. In this essay, the biography of the composer, background
of the genre and analysis of the piece will be investigated
Biographical Sketch of Mendelssohn
Mendelssohn was born in Hamburg in 1809. His father Abraham Mendelssohn was a banker, while his
mum Lea Mendelssohn was a highly educated artist and musician. Mendelssohn first had his piano
lesson from his mum, but soon he was sent to study with the best teachers at that time such as Marie
Bigot and Ludwig Burger. He also took composition lessons with Karl ... Show more content on

This simply corresponds to Robert Schumann s saying: Mendelssohn is the one who most clearly sees
through the contradictions (between the classical and romantic style) of the age and for the first time
reconciles them.
Musical Form of the Work The symphony consists of four movements. The first movement, Allegro
vivace, is in sonata form. In the first theme (Ex.1), many sequences were used to construct the melody.
And being inspired by Italian opera, Mendelssohn here tired to delay the closure of the theme as much
as possible. While the second theme, it shares the similar materials as the first theme. In the
development section, although a new theme appears, it consists of some materials of the first theme.
Then, all these three themes appear again in the recapitulation, creating a sense of unity.
Ex. 1 Opening theme of the first movement The second movement, Andante con moto, however has
two main different interpretations that it could be analyzed as song form or sonata form. The third
movement, Con moto moderato, was composed in form of minuet and trio. Finally, for the finale,
which consists of the Roman saltarello and the Neapolitan tarantella dance rhythm, contains
characteristics of both sonata and rondo form.
How does the piece fit into the orchestral literature of the 19th century? First and foremost, the piece
reflects the development of the clarinet that its role in the orchestra became more and

From Schumpeter s theory, Goodman didn t seem to match any of the entrepreneur s traits. Early in
1939, rather than being creative destruction, he took a proven path of following popular trends in
movies and television. It was proven to be a success by hitting tremendous sale for his first publishes.
Rather than destroy establish market, Goodman s company worked their way up to the top, together

The Northanger Abbey And The Vicar Of Wakefield
One question that comes up in older novels such as Northanger Abbey and The Vicar of Wakefield is
that of the economy of love or more specifically marriage. Today, people take for granted that people
get married for love and little else. The idea of marriage as an economic decision is a foreign and
fascinating idea in today s society, but it was very prominent in Goldsmith s and Austen s times and
that is reflected in their novels.
Take first, Goldsmith s The Vicar of Wakefield and what role romantic love plays in the novel. The
Vicar himself presents many different arguments about how his daughters should marry throughout
the novel, some of these contradicting each other and very few of them in favor of love as a motive of
marriage. At first, it seems that he wants his daughters to marry men of their own social class, and
discourages his oldest from pursuing Mr. Thornhill on the basis that disproportioned friendships ever
terminate in disgust (Goldsmith 15). He likewise rejects the benevolent Mr. Burchell as a suitor for his
youngest daughter because ...he is poor, and perhaps deserves poverty; for he has neither the ambition
to be independent, nor the skill to be useful (Goldsmith 17). Later, however, he looks more closely at
the characters of his daughters respective suitors and seems to set aside, if not abandon altogether, the
issue of marrying within one s own class. He very obviously disapproves of Mr. Thornhill asserting
that he ...could have been better pleased

were recorded periodically. The Pain was assessed using a PQRST pain assessment method and Rudd
rates throbbing pain bilaterally in the head with a pain score of 8 that aggravates with moving and
does not radiate to elsewhere other than the head. The orthostatic BP shows no changes. The E.D

The Current Capitalistic Society And Its Effects On The...
Alex Tannenbaum Final Paper In our current capitalistic society nothing is more closely followed than
economic growth. When economies are growing they are praised, but when they are not they are
perceived as a failure. Growth has brought us many great technologies that have helped form the
global culture that we now live in. However, there is a misapprehension among society that economic
growth is limitless. In fact, it is impossible to have unlimited growth in a finite world. This has lead
society to expect more from the economy and the earth than what they are actually able to provide for
us. As a result, we are now overproducing and over consuming at record rates, which is having
extremely detrimental effects on the environment. If we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, they show that unlimited economic growth is a producer of dissatisfaction, anxiety, and
frustration. Winner describes this phenomenon as human morality corruption. He explains that human
corruption is a direct result of material wealth. As a result, society is valuing materials over
relationships and experiences, therefore attempting to satisfy desires by obtaining more and more
goods. With the ever growing demand for material goods, technology is needed to maintain a speedy
production rate and get the goods that society so desperately want to them. Technology allows us to be
efficient and effective in the marketplace. With all the beneficial things that technology allows us to
do, it s also very easy to get consumed by its presence and let it control the way we get things done.
Technological innovations have completely changed the production process and the way we have
traditionally defined the word work. We have gotten to the point where if there is a flaw in
technological equipment, production shuts down and our systems spin out of whack. The expansion of
technology is running parallel to our growing desires for material goods. The illusion of unlimited
economic growth has created a society where enough is never enough. When that is the case producers
use technologies to maximize the output of their product in order to meet the growing demand, rather
than producing at optimal levels. Producers are constantly

Analysis Of The Book From The Brain By Tobias Wolff
Perhaps we do not realize the impact of the petty things we have experienced when life itself flashes
before our eyes. Even though our lives are composed of countless moments to remember, sometimes
we do not understand how they slowly shape who we are and how we see the world. This is what
Tobias Wolff suggests in his short story, Bullet in the Brain . The story focuses on the internal journey
of a man named Anders when his life comes to a close. A well crafted look into the memories of
Anders gives readers distaste for all he takes for granted and demonstrates his lack of sympathy. The
story begins with Anders in line at a bank. After one of the tellers closes her line and all the patrons
become impatient, two bank robbers with guns enter the bank. The robbers cuff the security guard and
begin demanding money from the tellers. Anders makes too many sarcastic and critical comments, and
as a consequence, one of the bank robbers shoots him in the head with a pistol. The entire second part
of the short story focuses on the thoughts Anders experiences as the bullet travels through his brain.
The narrator begins to discuss many seemingly irrelevant memories from his life, and surfaces how he
does not think about or remember any of those moments as his life comes to a close. Instead, the
narrator ends the story with Anders recalling a time from his childhood where him and his friends
were playing baseball, and tells how a particular phrase his friend uses makes him feel aroused.

Be very sure of this people never reject the Bible because they cannot understand it. They understand

because they don t like to believe it is true. J.C. Ryle. Before I begin I would like to say that I use both
the King James Version and English Standard Version. I have nothing against the KJV and I believe it

So if I ve done my math correctly Paul most definitely didn t use the KJV to deliver his very inspired

and not modernize it? If the King James Version was the only true version would someone who was
saved from a message delivered from an uninspired version have a faulty faith and salvation? Now I
don t know what translation the evangelist was speaking from when I got saved but I would hate to
believe that if it was not the KJV that I haven t truly been saved all this time. You would assume that
the translation from the oldest manuscripts would be the most accurate but versions such as the ESV

Introduction
SAA (Serum Amyloid A) function is similar to a C reactive protein (an annular pentameric protein that
is mostly found in blood plasma and its levels rise in response to inflammation. It considered as an
acute phase protein of hepatic origin, which increases following interleukin 6 secretion by
macrophages and T cells) but acts as an acute phase protein, which can be used as an indicative,
predictive or as a therapy follow up marker for many diseases such as Atherosclerosis, Rheumatoid
arthritis, Crohn s disease, and diabetes. As the level of the serum increases, the SAA is triggered by
physical insults to the host which includes infection, trauma, inflammatory reactions, and cancer (R.
Kisilevsky a, 1991). A broad response range is reflected by an SAA gene duplication, which results
into a cluster encoding of several SAA variants and by multiple biological functions of SAA. SAA
prompted chemokines in degrading enzymes through a Toll like receptors and it functions as an
activator and chemoattractant through a G protein coupled receptor. A persistent stimulus in an
infectious or inflammatory area, this will cause the liver to produce more SAA, which will become an
antimicrobial agent by functioning as a direct opsonin of bacteria (Urieli Shoval, Linke, Matzner,
2000). The regulation of innate and adaptive immunity through the helps of SAA benefit the invention

John Donne
John Donne is the name in English Literature who gave new direction to the literary activities of his
age. He is in a sense founded the metaphysical lyric, which was practiced by scare of writers. As
Dowden says, We are told that in the decline of the greater poetry of the Elizabethan period, a
metaphysical school arose and that John Donne was the founder or the first eminent member of this
school. John Donne set up a new tradition in versification by and large Donne must be regarded as an

Then comes a conceit which also expresses the passion of the lovers:
SHE S ALL STATES, AND ALL PRINCES I;
NOTHING ELSE IS. The most striking and famous one is the comparison of man who travels and his
beloved who stays at home to a pair of compasses in A Valediction Of Forbidding Mourning . Here
soul of the beloved is like the fixed foot of compasses as by her inborn nature she stays at home
whereas the soul of the lover is like the other foot of compasses which moves beyond the center to
complete a circle of journey.
IF THEY BE TWO, THEY ARE TWO SO
AS STIFF TWIN COMPASSES ARE TWO,
THY SOUL THE FIX FOOT, MAKES NO SHOW
TO MOVE, BUT (DOTH) IF THE OTHER DOE.
In The Relique, John Donne imagines himself lying in a grave as a skeleton with the undeniable token
of spiritual love in the sphere of his beloved s bright lock of hair forming a bracelet about his wriste
borne and because of their great love, he and his beloved will be honored like saints,
ALL WOMEN SHALL ADORE US, AND SOME MEN. Another feature is the use of colloquial
speech which marks the metaphysical poetry. In John Donne s poems, the vigor of colloquialism is
especially apparent in the abrupt, conversational opening of many of his poems. He selected colloquial
diction which has vigor, freshness and originality. He discarded literary words and phrases which
became rusty because of repetition. Another characteristic of metaphysical poetry

most of the incidences and carries a 5 year survival rate of 15%.1 On average, it is the metastases of
the primary tumor that cause death. NSCLC is often diagnosed late where available treatment options
such as surgery or radiation will be ineffective .2 Because of its nature, metastasis of cancer is not
fully understood as it cannot occur in vitro.2 It has been discovered that the cascade of events follows
similar pathways in each type of metastatic cancer: detachment of cells from ECM, invasion of
neighboring tissue, intravastation into the blood or lymph system, and subsequent extravasation at a
distal site of the metastatic lesion.1 Treatments have included chemotherapy, radiation, surgery if
applicable and other targeted therapies like immunotherapy and EGFR inhibitors.2 In the past, due to
the difficulty of treating and ineffectiveness, chemotherapy was not the treatment when the patient
was diagnosed with NSCLC. Instead, supportive care was offered. Meta analysis has demonstrated
that chemotherapy has offered slight improvements in quality of life and reduction of symptoms
since.3 These chemotherapy drugs work best when combined with a source of platinum, which can be
difficult given the substantial risk of toxicities.4 To combat the difficulties of treating NSCLC, and
deliver the chemotherapy that could potentially increase survival rates while lowering toxicity
exposure, science has turned to its new wonder child:

Comparison Of Mintz s Sweetness And Power And The Atlantic...
Sidney Mintz s Sweetness and Power and Herbert Klein s The Atlantic Slave Trade are historical reads
that exemplify the importance of slavery and trading between the 16th and 19th centuries. Within the
two works, slave trading is shown to be a prime source of trading in order to complete heavy labor
requirements for a successful business. Mintz s Sweetness and Power identifies sugar as an important
substance needed by all colonies. Sugar production would be inefficient without an abundance of
slaves. This is where Klein s The Atlantic Slave Trade correlates with Mintz s Sweetness and Power as
sugar production influences slave trading. Due to this, rich investors who obtain most of these slaves
for their business and more sugar production begin to create capitalist countries. Trading and slavery
within the 16th and 19th country influenced capitalism as shown in Sidney Mintz s and Herbert Klein
s historical works. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Frederic Bastiat Essay
Frederic Bastiat (1801 1850) was a French classical economist, statesman, and author. He did most of
his writing during the years before and after the Revolution of February 1848. This was the period
when France was rapidly turning to complete socialism. As a Deputy to the Legislative Assembly, Mr.
Bastiat was studying and explaining each socialist fallacy as it appeared. And he explained how
socialism must inevitably degenerate into communism. But most of his countrymen chose to ignore
his logic. The fight against socialism drained Bastiat s already fading energy, and by 1850 a mere six
years alter his first published article and only two since his election to the National Assembly he was
on his deathbed. But far from being a flash in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many philosophers have made important contributions to the discourse on liberty, Bastiat among
them. But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse out of the ivory tower and made
ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can understand them. Like others, Bastiat recognized
the greatest single threat to liberty is government.
Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense (pg.
2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals
have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same
rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because
men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand
that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights
have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. The law was
created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts. Justice is achieved only
when injustice is absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these three goals, the law
becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by the greed and false

eBay should keep a close eye on threats to their company and do what they can to make them
opportunities for change.
Conclusion By implementing their business model, eBay employed three main tactics. First, they
looked to build strategic partnerships, such as PayPal and Half.com. Second, they looked for customer
feedback to constantly make changes and improvements. Finally, they monitored of their internal and
external environments for possible opportunities. By initiating all of these tactics, eBay is able to
adapt to the changing ways while keeping their customers satisfied. To be successful eBay must
continue to mold and change their business model to satisfy customers and keep the level of quality
they employ to the highest degree possible. If eBay is able to work these ideas into their everyday
business life, they will continue to be successful. Furthermore, eBay must continue to improve its

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Winston Churchill s Speech
Winston Churchill, a legendary Prime Minister, led Great Britain through some of its darkest times:
World War II. The speech he gave to the House of Commons on June 4, 1940, aptly nicknamed the We
shall fight on the beaches speech, carried great importance to his people. In the days before the
speech, the British faced a heavy military loss in Belgium and France. Belgium surrendered to the
Nazis, stranding numerous French and British troops at Dunkirk and neighboring beaches in France,
fully exposed to the advance of the Nazi war machine. With the ocean as their only feasible direction
of retreat, the Navy organized all its resources to pull the men out from Dunkirk over the English
Channel and bring them back to safety in England. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The country rejoiced, flooded with solace. By acknowledging the potential military disaster, catalyzed
by another country, Churchill emphasizes the significance of the successful withdrawal of his troops,
inspiring a sense of immense nationalism and pride in his audience. He perfectly seizes the
opportunity before him, as he knew that he had to stir his people to rise up and rebuild in order to win
his war. Churchill s ultimate goal was to keep fighting until either his country was destroyed or had
vanquished his enemies, and this escape, solely due to German error, provided a chance to bring the
British to victory. He knew the situation was still dire for him and his country. The British were vastly
outnumbered, and the loss of the Belgian army dealt a blow to the Allies. The speech was meant to
prime the British people for what was to come By praising the feats accomplished by his compatriots
and describing the spirit of their actions, Churchill excites the audience s sense of civic pride and duty.

of adversity, and commends each wing of his military as well as the many civilians who participated
in the effort. In laudation of He continues to lionize the Royal Army in allusion to King

geographically and chronologically widespread, they have been dated back to between 8,000 BCE and

Bog bodies have kept their skin and internal organs due to the specific conditions of the surrounding
area. These conditions include highly acidic waters, low temperatures, and a lack of oxygen. These
conditions will affect the skin of the body, causing it to tan. The oldest known body is the skeleton of

Does The Beak Size Of Probosciger Affect Its Foraging...
Does the beak size of Probosciger aterrimus affect its foraging success?
Introduction:
Probosciger aterrimus, also known as the palm cockatoo, goliath cockatoo, and great black cockatoo,
is a large black parrot of the Cacatuide family (White et al. 2011). The cockatoo Probosciger aterrimus
is often found in New Guinea, Aru Islands and Cape York Peninsula. A bird s beak not only allows it
to eat, but also to groom and feed its offspring. Proboscigar aterrimus has a long, pointed and curved
black beak that exceeds past its mouth. The mouth always remains slightly open, as the lower beak
meets its top beak only at the tip. Its beak is so massive that it exceeds the average beak sizes of much
larger species. The only species out of the parrot tribe with a larger beak is the Hyacinth Macaw, also
known as the Anodorynchus hyachinthinus (Mulawka 179). An observation by Wood (1988) states
that the Probosciger aterrimus is often seen feeding on various seeds, leaf buds, fruits, such as the
kernels of the Nonda Plum Panarian nonda. Other important food items include the fruits of Pandanus
species, Grevillea glauca and the seeds of Persoona falcota.
The species beak allows the species to sufficiently remove the shells of nuts that are difficult to break
(Mulawka 2013). Grant and Grant (2002) argue that the phenotypic variation in regards to a bird s
beak is due to environmental differences, and the food resources that are available within the

The rich history of American Deaf culture in conjunction withlanguage displays the determination
along with the brilliance of these people. Though the hearing world had called them sin, denounced

Deaf people have always existed, as did discrimination towards deaf people. As far back as 384 322
BCE, people had been saying that deaf people could not learn. Due to Deaf people being seen as
inferior, we hardly have any documented history on them before the early 1500 s. Patient parents of

There are several projects for this research opportunity. I am part of a project called Better Glass Edu ,
a project specifically for the first year researchers to get acclimated to the terms of and usage of a

must first understand what Machine learning is. Machine learning is an application of artificial
intelligence that Provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience. It
focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learn for themselves.
A more practical way it is feeding a computer program a set of datapoints. The computer program uses

Random forests are an ensemble of Decision Trees. This algorithm trains multiple decision trees and
has them vote on the final output of the model. Pros of this algorithms are that it is very unlikely to

instance, a majority of weights would have to be incorrect in regression. The basic idea behind a
neural network(similar to a human brain) is to copy, in a simplified but reasonably way, lots of densely
interconnected brain cells inside a computer so you can get it to learn things, recognize patterns, and
make decisions in a humanlike way. The amazing thing about a neural network is that you don t have
to program it to learn explicitly: it learns all by itself, just like a brain!
But it isn t a brain. It s important to note that neural networks are (generally) software simulations:
they re made by programming very ordinary computers, working in a very traditional fashion with
their ordinary transistors and serially connected logic gates, to behave as though they re built from
billions of highly interconnected brain cells working in parallel. Computer simulations are just
collections of algebraic variables and mathematical equations linking them together. They mean
nothing whatsoever to the computers they run inside only to the people who program them, so there is

Tao-Te Ching
Summary The Tao te Ching is an exemplary work of Chinese philosophy that talks about good
government and moral behavior. Although the author of the Tao te Ching is unknown, the earliest texts
attribute the work to Lao tzu (sixth century B.C.E.),whose name can be translated to Old Master.
However, nothing can be said with certainty about the historical figure. The writings of Tao te Ching
are considered the basis for Taoism, confucianism, and Buddhism. The term Tao refers to the art of
living, embracing an inscrutable, eternal Way (Tao). The Tao te Ching represents the creative forces of
the universe and frequently uses the imagery of the womb, and the shakti or the female principle ...

81 numbered stanzas of varying lengths which is in the form of poetry. The text supports variety of
explanations. The teachings of Lao tzu are the opposite of materialism, the pursuit for power, authority,
and wealth. According to Lao tzu, these weigh down the soul, which is contrary to its goal of realizing
the highest truth. His anti materialistic belief extends in his advices to the politicians of his times, to
be silent observers, and to intercede only when it is essential, and then also unobtrusively. The Master
acts and teaches without doing or speaking, lets things happen, knows when to let go, neither
possesses nor expects. Lao s political philosophy undoubtedly minimizes the power of the state.
Moreover, there is definitely no room for aggression, and asserts that the good and wise leader will
provide the people with what they need and not annoy them with promises of what they do not need.
Lao tzu believes that the leader allows the people to achieve good things for themselves by keeping
people unawares that they are being ruled. He believed that one can be a good leader only when one
learns to follow the Tao. He remarks that the eternal way is the

Analysis Of Thomas Gainsborough s Portrait Of Grace...
Thomas Gainsborough presents a fabulous portrait of Grace Dalrymple Elliott. This is a full length
painting believed to be commissioned by her lover, Earl of Cholomondeley in 1777 (Major, 2016).
This portrait goes beyond a simple painting of a mistress. Rather, Gainsborough s portrait of Grace is
a study of striking and noble beauty versus a celebration of female sexuality as a commodity.
Gainsborough accomplished this art piece by using several uncommon practices in his portrait making
techniques. The first is using a six foot handle brush working directly on the canvas to give himself a
better viewpoint of his work. Second, Gainsborough often painted by candlelight, attempting to
simulate the soft lighting in which the painting would be viewed (Information for Parents, n.d.).
Gainsborough was very successful in creating an atmospheric mood and unity between the
backgrounds and figures in his paintings. He displayed great skill in the use of color repetitions and
contrasts, fluid brushstrokes, and highlighting. Grace, in her full length portrait, appears both self
confident and majestic as she leans forward on her left foot. She is wearing a simple, snug ribbon
choker around her throat that graciously drapes down the front of her chest where she clasps the train
of her gown in a gesture of vulnerability. Her other jewelry is a pair of small stud gold earrings and a
layered bracelet of strung pearls on both wrists adds a unique touch to not over power or

for a ruler, which is not coincidental seeing that the book is dedicated to the ruler of Florence, Lorenzo
de Medici. And others have suggested that The Prince is a satire, which was poking fun at the already
existing form of government and rulers at the time it was written. The beginning of the Prince, show

The Learning Theory Of Action
The Learning Theory in Action The learning theory is a theory describing how information is
absorbed, processed, and retained during learning. There are many different views of the learning
theory and many different groups of people who have studied and still study the learning theory.
Among these groups are behaviorists, cognitive theorists, transformative learning theorists, and those
who advocate for constructivism. In my paper I will talk mostly about the behaviorist s views on
learning and how they believe that learning is an aspect of conditioning. behaviorists, like other
observers of the learning theory, use classical and operant conditioning to distinguish the different
types of learning that are being done and to show how the brain responds differently after being
conditioned by a stimulus. Classical conditioning is a type of learning in which a stimulus that used to
have no effect on an individual is now conditioned to have a response because it is associated with
another stimulus that already gets a response from the individual. Operant conditioning or
instrumental conditioning, is a form of learning that is conditioned to respond in either a positive or
negative way depending on the consequences that are produced by either positive or negative
reinforcement. The learning theory is used in almost all aspects of the education system and in my
paper I will talk about learning with autism and particularly the effects that ABA treatment have had

Essay Breast Feeding Is Best
Breast Feeding Is Best Breast feeding not only provides the perfect food and food delivery system for
infants, it is also the most family friendly choice a new mother can make.
Human breast milk contains at least one hundred ingredients not found in cow s milk and that cannot
be exactly duplicated in commercial formulas (Eisenburg 3). As a baby grows and changes, breast
milk automatically individualizes itself for each infant. The nutrients in breast milk alter themselves to

Breast milk contains one third the mineral salts of cow s milk, thus making it gentle to the kidneys.
There is less phosphorous in breast milk as well. The higher phosphorus content of cow s milk is
linked to a decreased calcium level in the formula fed infant s blood. Breast fed babies are far less
likely to become ill during the first year than formula fed babies. The transfer of immune factors in
breast milk and in the pre milk substance, colostrum, provides partial protection. Every time breast fed
infants suckle at their mother s breast from the first time to the last; they are getting a healthy dose of
anti bodies to bolster their immunity to disease (Eisenburg 54). One recent study suggest there may
also be a decreased risk of childhood cancer in breast fed babies (Eisenburg 55 ).
Breast fed babies are well nourished since breast feeding works by supply and demand. The more the
baby nurses the greater the mother s milk production. Overall, babies that are breast fed have less
health problems than babies that are artificially fed. They have three times fewer ear infections, five
times fewer urinary tract infections, five times fewer serious illnesses and seven times fewer allergies.
Babies who are fed mother s milk exclusively, for at least their first twenty six weeks, are six times
less likely to develop lymphoma (a type of cancer) in childhood, and babies breast fed for at least one
year are only half as likely to develop diabetes

Charles I Assassination
Charles I of England and Scotland Authorizes Sunday Recreations (1633) Charles I of England and
Scotland is the son of James I. He faced criticisms and suspicions due to his more Catholic way of
ruling. He was an Anglican and to the Puritan English people, this was not a good thing. Parliament
and Charles I argued often which caused Charles to shut down parliament for long periods of time.
This later caused a civil war between the two parties. Charles I lost and was executed showing a huge
shift of the people who no longer believed the King was chosen by God. The primary source was first
written by James I who wished to have it read by the clergy in public, but but so strong was the
Puritan opposition to Sunday amusements that he prudently withdrew his command (The Editors of
Encyclopedia Britannica). Charles I, James I s son, agreed with his father and revisited his idea nearly
fifteen years later and forced the clergy to read the text aloud. The clergy were still not open to the
idea, so when they refused, they were punished. The document is basically a list of ... Show more

Puritans in this time did not want this particular law revoked as it offered them more time to pray and
read the bible. Catholics and Anglicans in this time were beginning to be less strict about keeping
Sundays free to focus only on God. They saw the benefit in allowing recreation as a relief to the mind,
body, and soul during a time when people were constantly working possibly brutal jobs to provide for
themselves and their families as well as for their community, religion, and government. These people
needed a break to relax and enjoy life rather than constant work. This law was supposed to be a way
for the people to find this relief yet some did not like it as it seemed to take away from God. People, as
well as being incredibly hard working, are also very faithful and curious at this

Trader Joes

TRADER JOE S
Description:
Trader Joe s has become a multi billion dollar national chain partly through its ability to find cheap
real estate, skip name brands and smartly manage its supply chain. It s also due to its workforce
management practices. Below, excerpts from a book Trader Joe s Adventure, review the company s
management compensation, encouragement of multitasking, screening and wages, careful use of
money, fun culture, sense that its people are its brand, and communication style.
Learning Objective:
Our focus with this case is on immersing students in the fundamentals of organizational culture.
Organizational culture is defined as a complex set of shared beliefs, guiding values, behavioral norms,

Without question, all of these things are an essential part of what makes Trader Joe s such a thriving
retailer when much larger chains are struggling to survive. But there s a saying in retail circles that the
last 100 feet are the hardest. Every effort can be made to heighten the efficiency of the supply chain
and get products from the manufacturer to the retailer s back door in the most cost effective way
possible. Yet, if in store execution is shoddy, retailers simply end up shooting themselves in the foot. A
big part of this execution or the last 100 feet at Trader Joe s is its employees, people who like what
they do, go out of their way to help customers, and even engage in some suggestive selling. They are a
major reason for the company s success. After all, few employers particularly in retailing can boast of
having such high levels of employee loyalty, not to mention extremely low turnover.
Compensate workers well The core of this allegiance is a wage and benefits package that is typically
far more competitive than that of most companies in the supermarket industry. Wages may attract high
quality employees, but wages are not necessarily the reason they remain loyal, as any human resources
expert can attest. Employees stay because Trader Joe s has created a culture of success: an

Motif And Motifs In Macbeth
Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth
Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding
with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the
use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of
Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions
whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and
states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59
60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look.
In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid
acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing
Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it
cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth
discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have
done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne,
Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to
condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by
Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats
posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to
Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of
pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth
is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day.
Related to both passages, Macbeth does not want anyone to

The Role Of Socialization On Gender Identity
The Influence of Socialization on Gender Identity Gender Role Conformity
As evident from the generalized patterns found in differences in behaviour and outlook observed
between the sexes, it may be tempting, as has been done in the past, to conclude that gender is an
unavoidable aspect of human existence as determined purely from one s genes. Indeed, human
physiology is subject to sexual dimorphism; statistically significant differences in brain size and rate
of maturation of specific substructures in the brain exist between males and females (Giedd,
Castellanos, Rajapakese, Vaituzis, Rapoport, 1997), yet these physical differences fail to explain how
individuals form their concept of their own gender, and why they tend to conform to their perceived
gender roles as defined by the society in which they live, when these roles are ever changing. Thus, it
is important to differentiate between the physical and nonphysical traits, and how the labels of
femininity and masculinity should not confuse the two aspects. As defined by Unger (1979), sex
would be used to refer to the biological differences in males and females, while gender describes
socioculturally determined, nonphysiological traits which are arbitrarily designated as being
appropriate for either females or males. With more recent awareness and interest in matters of gender
nonconformity and individual gender identity, new research now explains how these concepts of
gender are shaped by social influences (Perry

  • 2. Differences Of Hegel And Nietzsche German philosophers Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 1831) and Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 1900) have traditionally been viewed as polar opposites in terms of their philosophy. Hegel has been dubbed an idealist and a systematic philosopher who identified various different types of History, theoretical entities and concepts. Nietzsche, on the other hand, is seen to be a counter Enlightenment and counter systematic philosopher who penned the well known text, Genealogy of Morals . In this essay, I aim to bring to light the underlying similarities between the two thinkers that have previously been overlooked, as well as to identify the differences in Hegel and Nietzsche s ideologies and presuppositions. Hegel identifies three types of History; Original History, which is written during the historical period being investigated, Reflective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, both Hegel and Nietzsche use the Master / Slave dichotomy to account for identity and difference in the relationship between the powerful subject and the weak object. Both thinkers see identity and morality emerging out of a relationship of conflict. Moreover, in both Hegel and Nietzsche s narratives, there is a change in the structure of acknowledgment, where the antagonistic relationship allows one side to define itself by negating the other. Both thinkers find that negation is an integral part of identity formation. Hegel and Nietzsche both concur, in dialectical terms, Being is represented by the object , or Master, and the subject , or Slave, is constantly in the process of Becoming . From these similarities, is that clear that both 19th century philosophers have made a massive impact on philosophical thought in todays day and age, despite their distinct ... Compare Dover Beach And Fahrenheit 451 Introduction At first glance, Ray Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451 and Matthew Arnold s poem Dover Beach may not have anything in common however the inclusion of Dover Beach in Fahrenheit 451 begs to differ. Both were written during a period of change. Arnold wrote Dover Beach during the Industrial Revolution and Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451 shortly after World War 2. Although Dover Beach was written a century earlier, they both consider the problems within society; the effects of an ever changing world. The contrast shows that at first glance it may seem as if there is a pleasant atmosphere however, observing the situation there is shown to be great distress. There is only a façade of happiness. In Fahrenheit 451 Montag begins to realise his unhappiness as he wore his happiness like a mask and he tells himself happiness is important. Fun is everything. And yet I kept sitting there saying to myself, I m not happy, I m not happy. The use of the word mask signifies the illusion of reality as people are falsifying their true emotions and are doing so to fit into their perception of reality. His father Abraham Mendelssohn was a banker, while his mum Lea Mendelssohn was a highly educated artist and musician. Musical Form of the Work The symphony consists of four movements. The first movement, Allegro vivace, is in sonata form. In the first theme (Ex.1), many sequences were used to construct the melody. And being inspired by Italian opera, Mendelssohn here tired to delay the closure of the theme as much as possible. While the second theme, it shares the similar materials as the first theme. In the development section, although a new theme appears, it consists of some materials of the first theme. Then, all these three themes appear again in the recapitulation, creating a sense of unity. • 8. The Northanger Abbey And The Vicar Of Wakefield One question that comes up in older novels such as Northanger Abbey and The Vicar of Wakefield is that of the economy of love or more specifically marriage. Today, people take for granted that people get married for love and little else. The idea of marriage as an economic decision is a foreign and fascinating idea in today s society, but it was very prominent in Goldsmith s and Austen s times and that is reflected in their novels. Take first, Goldsmith s The Vicar of Wakefield and what role romantic love plays in the novel. The Vicar himself presents many different arguments about how his daughters should marry throughout the novel, some of these contradicting each other and very few of them in favor of love as a motive of marriage. At first, it seems that he wants his daughters to marry men of their own social class, and discourages his oldest from pursuing Mr. Thornhill on the basis that disproportioned friendships ever terminate in disgust (Goldsmith 15). He likewise rejects the benevolent Mr. Burchell as a suitor for his youngest daughter because ...he is poor, and perhaps deserves poverty; for he has neither the ambition to be independent, nor the skill to be useful (Goldsmith 17). Later, however, he looks more closely at the characters of his daughters respective suitors and seems to set aside, if not abandon altogether, the issue of marrying within one s own class. He very obviously disapproves of Mr. Thornhill asserting that he ...could have been better pleased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When economies are growing they are praised, but when they are not they are perceived as a failure. Growth has brought us many great technologies that have helped form the global culture that we now live in. However, there is a misapprehension among society that economic growth is limitless. In fact, it is impossible to have unlimited growth in a finite world. This has lead society to expect more from the economy and the earth than what they are actually able to provide for us. In fact, they show that unlimited economic growth is a producer of dissatisfaction, anxiety, and frustration. Winner describes this phenomenon as human morality corruption. He explains that human corruption is a direct result of material wealth. As a result, society is valuing materials over relationships and experiences, therefore attempting to satisfy desires by obtaining more and more goods. With the ever growing demand for material goods, technology is needed to maintain a speedy production rate and get the goods that society so desperately want to them. Technology allows us to be efficient and effective in the marketplace. With all the beneficial things that technology allows us to do, it s also very easy to get consumed by its presence and let it control the way we get things done. Technological innovations have completely changed the production process and the way we have traditionally defined the word work. We have gotten to the point where if there is a flaw in technological equipment, production shuts down and our systems spin out of whack. The expansion of technology is running parallel to our growing desires for material goods. The illusion of unlimited economic growth has created a society where enough is never enough. When that is the case producers use technologies to maximize the output of their product in order to meet the growing demand, rather than producing at optimal levels. Producers are constantly ... • 16. Analysis Of The Book From The Brain By Tobias Wolff Perhaps we do not realize the impact of the petty things we have experienced when life itself flashes before our eyes. Even though our lives are composed of countless moments to remember, sometimes we do not understand how they slowly shape who we are and how we see the world. This is what Tobias Wolff suggests in his short story, Bullet in the Brain . The story focuses on the internal journey of a man named Anders when his life comes to a close. A well crafted look into the memories of Anders gives readers distaste for all he takes for granted and demonstrates his lack of sympathy. The story begins with Anders in line at a bank. After one of the tellers closes her line and all the patrons become impatient, two bank robbers with guns enter the bank. The robbers cuff the security guard and begin demanding money from the tellers. Anders makes too many sarcastic and critical comments, and as a consequence, one of the bank robbers shoots him in the head with a pistol. The entire second part of the short story focuses on the thoughts Anders experiences as the bullet travels through his brain. The narrator begins to discuss many seemingly irrelevant memories from his life, and surfaces how he does not think about or remember any of those moments as his life comes to a close. Instead, the narrator ends the story with Anders recalling a time from his childhood where him and his friends were playing baseball, and tells how a particular phrase his friend uses makes him feel aroused. ... • 18. Evaluation Of Chemokine Receptor Cxcr3 Receptor Gene... Yahya Bello To test whether chemokine receptor CXCR3 mediates gene transcription Introduction SAA (Serum Amyloid A) function is similar to a C reactive protein (an annular pentameric protein that is mostly found in blood plasma and its levels rise in response to inflammation. It considered as an acute phase protein of hepatic origin, which increases following interleukin 6 secretion by macrophages and T cells) but acts as an acute phase protein, which can be used as an indicative, predictive or as a therapy follow up marker for many diseases such as Atherosclerosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn s disease, and diabetes. As the level of the serum increases, the SAA is triggered by physical insults to the host which includes infection, trauma, inflammatory reactions, and cancer (R. Kisilevsky a, 1991). A broad response range is reflected by an SAA gene duplication, which results into a cluster encoding of several SAA variants and by multiple biological functions of SAA. SAA prompted chemokines in degrading enzymes through a Toll like receptors and it functions as an activator and chemoattractant through a G protein coupled receptor. A persistent stimulus in an infectious or inflammatory area, this will cause the liver to produce more SAA, which will become an antimicrobial agent by functioning as a direct opsonin of bacteria (Urieli Shoval, Linke, Matzner, 2000). Here soul of the beloved is like the fixed foot of compasses as by her inborn nature she stays at home whereas the soul of the lover is like the other foot of compasses which moves beyond the center to complete a circle of journey. Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. Introduction: Probosciger aterrimus, also known as the palm cockatoo, goliath cockatoo, and great black cockatoo, is a large black parrot of the Cacatuide family (White et al. 2011). The cockatoo Probosciger aterrimus is often found in New Guinea, Aru Islands and Cape York Peninsula. A bird s beak not only allows it to eat, but also to groom and feed its offspring. Proboscigar aterrimus has a long, pointed and curved black beak that exceeds past its mouth. The mouth always remains slightly open, as the lower beak meets its top beak only at the tip. Its beak is so massive that it exceeds the average beak sizes of much larger species. The only species out of the parrot tribe with a larger beak is the Hyacinth Macaw, also known as the Anodorynchus hyachinthinus (Mulawka 179). An observation by Wood (1988) states that the Probosciger aterrimus is often seen feeding on various seeds, leaf buds, fruits, such as the kernels of the Nonda Plum Panarian nonda. Other important food items include the fruits of Pandanus species, Grevillea glauca and the seeds of Persoona falcota. The species beak allows the species to sufficiently remove the shells of nuts that are difficult to break (Mulawka 2013). • 28. Deaf Education During The 1900 s The rich history of American Deaf culture in conjunction withlanguage displays the determination along with the brilliance of these people. Though the hearing world had called them sin, denounced them as dumb, these people rose up against their oppressors, making a new world for themselves. Deaf people have always existed, as did discrimination towards deaf people. As far back as 384 322 BCE, people had been saying that deaf people could not learn. Due to Deaf people being seen as inferior, we hardly have any documented history on them before the early 1500 s. I am part of a project called Better Glass Edu , a project specifically for the first year researchers to get acclimated to the terms of and usage of a neural network using machine learning algorithms. Before going in depth into the research topic we must first understand what Machine learning is. Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence that Provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience. It focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learn for themselves. A more practical way it is feeding a computer program a set of datapoints. The computer program uses various algorithms to understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Random forests are an ensemble of Decision Trees. In order for overfitting to occur, a majority of classifiers would have to misclassify an instance, a majority of weights would have to be incorrect in regression. The basic idea behind a neural network(similar to a human brain) is to copy, in a simplified but reasonably way, lots of densely interconnected brain cells inside a computer so you can get it to learn things, recognize patterns, and make decisions in a humanlike way. The amazing thing about a neural network is that you don t have to program it to learn explicitly: it learns all by itself, just like a brain! But it isn t a brain. It s important to note that neural networks are (generally) software simulations: they re made by programming very ordinary computers, working in a very traditional fashion with their ordinary transistors and serially connected logic gates, to behave as though they re built from billions of highly interconnected brain cells working in parallel. Computer simulations are just collections of algebraic variables and mathematical equations linking them together. They mean nothing whatsoever to the computers they run inside only to the people who program them, so there is no threat of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the author of the Tao te Ching is unknown, the earliest texts attribute the work to Lao tzu (sixth century B.C.E.),whose name can be translated to Old Master. However, nothing can be said with certainty about the historical figure. The writings of Tao te Ching are considered the basis for Taoism, confucianism, and Buddhism. According to Lao tzu, these weigh down the soul, which is contrary to its goal of realizing the highest truth. His anti materialistic belief extends in his advices to the politicians of his times, to be silent observers, and to intercede only when it is essential, and then also unobtrusively. The Master acts and teaches without doing or speaking, lets things happen, knows when to let go, neither possesses nor expects. Lao s political philosophy undoubtedly minimizes the power of the state. Moreover, there is definitely no room for aggression, and asserts that the good and wise leader will provide the people with what they need and not annoy them with promises of what they do not need. • 32. Analysis Of Thomas Gainsborough s Portrait Of Grace... Thomas Gainsborough presents a fabulous portrait of Grace Dalrymple Elliott. This is a full length painting believed to be commissioned by her lover, Earl of Cholomondeley in 1777 (Major, 2016). This portrait goes beyond a simple painting of a mistress. Rather, Gainsborough s portrait of Grace is a study of striking and noble beauty versus a celebration of female sexuality as a commodity. Gainsborough accomplished this art piece by using several uncommon practices in his portrait making techniques. The first is using a six foot handle brush working directly on the canvas to give himself a better viewpoint of his work. Second, Gainsborough often painted by candlelight, attempting to simulate the soft lighting in which the painting would be viewed (Information for Parents, n.d.). Gainsborough was very successful in creating an atmospheric mood and unity between the backgrounds and figures in his paintings. He displayed great skill in the use of color repetitions and contrasts, fluid brushstrokes, and highlighting. Grace, in her full length portrait, appears both self confident and majestic as she leans forward on her left foot. She is wearing a simple, snug ribbon choker around her throat that graciously drapes down the front of her chest where she clasps the train of her gown in a gesture of vulnerability. Her other jewelry is a pair of small stud gold earrings and a layered bracelet of strung pearls on both wrists adds a unique touch to not over power or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many different views of the learning theory and many different groups of people who have studied and still study the learning theory. Among these groups are behaviorists, cognitive theorists, transformative learning theorists, and those who advocate for constructivism. In my paper I will talk mostly about the behaviorist s views on learning and how they believe that learning is an aspect of conditioning. behaviorists, like other observers of the learning theory, use classical and operant conditioning to distinguish the different types of learning that are being done and to show how the brain responds differently after being conditioned by a stimulus. Classical conditioning is a type of learning in which a stimulus that used to have no effect on an individual is now conditioned to have a response because it is associated with another stimulus that already gets a response from the individual. Operant conditioning or instrumental conditioning, is a form of learning that is conditioned to respond in either a positive or negative way depending on the consequences that are produced by either positive or negative reinforcement. The learning theory is used in almost all aspects of the education system and in my paper I will talk about learning with autism and particularly the effects that ABA treatment have had on people who live ... • 44. Motif And Motifs In Macbeth Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne, Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). • 45. The Role Of Socialization On Gender Identity The Influence of Socialization on Gender Identity Gender Role Conformity As evident from the generalized patterns found in differences in behaviour and outlook observed between the sexes, it may be tempting, as has been done in the past, to conclude that gender is an unavoidable aspect of human existence as determined purely from one s genes. Indeed, human physiology is subject to sexual dimorphism; statistically significant differences in brain size and rate of maturation of specific substructures in the brain exist between males and females (Giedd, Castellanos, Rajapakese, Vaituzis, Rapoport, 1997), yet these physical differences fail to explain how individuals form their concept of their own gender, and why they tend to conform to their perceived gender roles as defined by the society in which they live, when these roles are ever changing. Thus, it is important to differentiate between the physical and nonphysical traits, and how the labels of femininity and masculinity should not confuse the two aspects. As defined by Unger (1979), sex would be used to refer to the biological differences in males and females, while gender describes socioculturally determined, nonphysiological traits which are arbitrarily designated as being appropriate for either females or males. With more recent awareness and interest in matters of gender nonconformity and individual gender identity, new research now explains how these concepts of gender are shaped by social influences (Perry ...
