• burning tropical rain forest (over 50% of trf is gone)
destroying of ecosystems
extinction of animal species (both species of orangutan are critically endangered)
• fertilizing and irrigationing of palms
using of pesticids → dangerous to health
soil erosion (no deep roots)
nothing to grow after palms → creation of wastelands

5. Why is palm oil harmful?
• 49g/100g of saturated fatty acids → clogged arteries
• clogged arteries → hardening of the arteries → heart attack
• Also related with cause of diabetes mellitus and
inflammations

• 85% of all plantations - Malaysia + Indonesia
• 1500-5000 orangutans were killed cause of eating seedlings of oil
palm
• 25-30 years - life expectancy of oil palm
• production period – 15 years
• 3x cheaper than rapeseed oil and 2x cheaper than peanut oil
• 626$ - price of 1t of palm oil
• 5t/1hectare - ideal production of palm seeds (unreachable)
• 1t/1hec. - rape seeds
• 750kg/1hec. - sunflower seeds
