2. To be prepared for school each day, your child
should bring:
•Reading book and homework diary.
•A snack and water bottle with your child’s name
on it.
•Clearly labelled clothing
•A P.E kit - Gym shoes, black shorts and a white T-
shirt. Term 1: Monday and Wednesday.

3. How you can help
• Full school uniform should be worn at all
times.
• Please sign homework when you are
satisfied with the content and standard of the
work
• Please check your child’s schoolbag every day
and remind your children to share letters and
correspondence from school– letters and
important information are often found at the
bottom of school bags!
4. Primary 2 in the classroom
The children in Primary 2 have worked hard to create a class
charter which is displayed in the classroom for all children to see.
The class charter reflects our Positive Ethos policy and school
values to encourage positive behaviour and attitudes in the
classroom and around the school and playground.
The
school values are Responsible, Respectful, Friendly,
Enthusiastic, Inclusive and Successful.
We want our classroom to be a place where children feel safe,
respected and ready to learn.
Most of all, we want it to be a place where learning is relevant
and fun!
5. Free time Friday
• 30 minutes of free time at the end of each week
which links to our School Behaviour policy.
• Warning given, 5 minutes loss of Free Time Friday,
time out in class, time out in another class, senior
management.

• Record kept and children reflect on what they can do
to improve their behaviour. Record sheet sent home
for parents to sign.

• Self-registration, lunch ordering and quick start
activity.
• Visual timetable and date chart.
• Enjoy-a-ball with Kevin on Monday mornings and
P.E. on Wednesdays.
• Direct teaching, PSW supported tasks, whole class
games, independent tasks and activities, partner and
small group tasks.

9. Homework
Spelling – Spelling homework is set on a Monday and should be
handed in by Friday each week. Children are tested on spelling words on
Friday.
Reading –– Reading books will be issued on a Monday and a Thursday.
The children will have opportunities to read in class and explore their
book through discussion and reading activities. Practising reading and
writing the Common words is very helpful to the children.
Maths – Maths homework will be given on a Monday and should be
handed in by the Friday each week. Your child should have an idea how
to complete this homework as it will link to what they have been learning
in class.
Other homework relating to IDL and other Curricular areas may be given throughout the
year where appropriate.
If you have any questions or comments about your child’s homework
please do not hesitate to write a note in his/her homework jotter or
