Meditative Practice Of Mindfulness Essay
The Krame Center at Ramapo College recently partnered with the Center of Mindfulness (CFM) at
the University of Massachusetts, introducing new programming this fall semester designed to
create awareness about the meditative practice of mindfulness. Inspired by their personal
experiences with mindfulness, the Krame family was keen on establishing a safe space on campus
for students, faculty and staff, as well as the surrounding community. With the support of President
Mercer, the Krame Center, housed in the Anisfield School of Business, is an outlet for
contemplative and meditative practices that are firmly rooted in the concept of mindfulness. The
mission is to not just promote the use of mindfulness practices in the classroom at Ramapo... Show

As mindfulness continues to sweep across the nation and work its way into educational
institutions, the future of this practice remains uncertain. In some respects, it could be a passing
fashion. On the other hand, I thin American culture, an industrialized civilization, is starving, is
empty, is spiritually dead. We have lost our sense of balance on what life is about, said Morley.
Money and success is not what it s about. Collectively, we are coming to this realization that
something is wrong...Mindfulness could be a fad but it could also be a great awakening. The
Krame Center, however, envisions a bright future for itself where it can continue to evolve and
spread awareness about mindfulness. I ve been here for one year and it s totally different place
from when I started only because we did not anticipate the partnership with CFM...We are looking
to become one of the top places within the Northeast for people. They think mindfulness, they think
Krame Center and they come here. We are really looking to grow and expand within and without,

Research on Martin Luther King Jr And The Letter from the Birmingham Jail
To me, Martin Luther King, Jr. is not an unfamiliar name. His famous speech I have a dream is
partly selected as our English text in China. Although I know he is well known for the strong and
affective words, Letter from Birmingham Jail still gave me a very deep impression. It is perfectly
organized in a logical and thoughtful arrangement. On the other hand, the words are strong and full
of real, impressive emotion.
To fully understand this letter, having a basic background of Martin Luther King and the social
environment at that time is necessary. King was born into a rich middle class family of Atlanta in
the year 1929. His father and grandfather were both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the letter, (from paragraph 1 to paragraph 3) King successfully reverts his
passive position as prisoner to a busy leader minister, who had little time to respond to criticism.
In the first paragraph, he kept his polite tone, and made the statement in such a way that he was
not forced to answer but willing to reply because he respected those clergymen s good will and
sincere. Then, in the following paragraphs, he answers the question: Why is Martin Luther King
is here in Birmingham? In this section, the words more basically , moreover show a logical
organization. He mentions his president position in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference,
to indicate his responsibility of the situation of Birmingham. Here, he emphasizes the invitation
and organization ties to imply that he should be respected as a guest. In the coming paragraph, he
compared himself as a minister with those Christian saints in the history to gain trust and more
respect. Then he focuses on the duty of a human being and an American citizen, who should
show more concern to those injustices no matter where they are. Here, he refutes the clergymen s
statement about outsiders coming in by saying: Never again can we afford to live with the
narrow, provincial outside agitator idea (King 404). By the end of the first section of the letter,
King has perfectly got the trust and respect he deserved as a man, a minister, a civil rights leader,
even a prisoner. We can see

Are Prescribed Burns Good Or Bad
Are Prescribed burns good or bad? Before I start let me explain what Prescribed burning is it is
the process of selecting an area of land and applying fire that is controlled to that area to reduce
the risk of a bigger fire in the future. Okay back to the question. The answer to the question
depends on your viewpoint about the matter. Some people believe that it is the best option in the
long run but others believe that it is unnecessary and that it is dangerous. But if we stop doing
prescribed burns we have a greater risk of bigger and more dangerous fires. Why should we have
prescribed burns? Prescribed burns decrease waste in forests that can be hazardous fuels for fires.
They promote the growth of trees, and plant by making a clear

UAVs Laws and Legislations The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has produced an
expedited certificate of authorization (COA) process for local law enforcement agencies to
operate unmanned aerial vehicles. The expedited COA process is part of the FAA s
reauthorization legislation the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (P. L 1 12 95) which
was signed into law by President Barack Obama on Feb. 14, 2012. Federal, state and local
government entities must obtain a COA from the FAA before flying a UAV in the national

( Bureau of Counterterrorism 2013 ) The conflict of expedited certificate authorization for the

There is also the possibility that UAVs that carry chemical sniffers could be totally unencumbered
by privacy protections. (Federal Aviation Administration 2013) Although the potential contribution
of UAVs to sectors such as environmental protection, law enforcement and various commercial
activities is apparent, they still seem not to be ready for civilian use. This is due to several reasons,
including e.g. civilian UAVs (CUAVs) requiring different technological solutions such as optimized
platforms, different endurance requirements, dedicated payloads and different ground control
systems. An additional important problem to be solved is the integration of UAVs in the civilian
airspace, which will require the adoption of civilian airworthiness standards and proven safety
features. Last but not least trust has to be created, both at the public sectors and the commercial
community, that CUAVs have economic advantages ( Vanclay 2003) One of the main hyposisthist

Tampax, Tambrands s only product, is the best selling tampon in the world, with 44 percent of the

Only 100 million of the 1.7 billion eligible women in the world currently use tampons. Tambrands
has divided the world into three clusters with cluster three being the most difficult to market
tampons due to culture and religious beliefs. Therefore, Tambrands has approached Proctor and

Tambrands is a company that uses single product strategy to advertise their product known as
TAMPAX. This product is the best selling product with 44% of the global market share. Out of
this 44%, approximately 90% of its sales come from North America and Europe. One of the main
reasons for tampax being successful only in North America and Europe is because tampons still
have not gained popularity as a result of various cultural resistance, religious resistance and/or
myths associated with using a tampon. This case study discusses the various issues that Tambrands
had to overcome in order to create a global demand for its product.
Question: What are the Problems in the case? What are the decisions to be made?
Despite being the best selling tampon in the world, the companies earnings dropped by 12
percent in 1996. Even though ups and downs in profits are part of any business, this 12 percent
drop was a serious concern as the company uses a single product strategy, also they compete
against rivals such as Playtex Products and Kimberly Clark, this makes the stakes high. At the
same time, it s difficult to get new users as already 70% of Women in the North America already
use Tampons. This indicated a need to expand globally; upon research Tambrands officials viewed
the global market as a huge opportunity as only 100 million out of the worlds 1.7 billion women

Alaska, Canada, And Canada
When you think of sending a package, the first thing that strikes your mind is efficient and prompt
delivery. This is the major trait you look for in a courier company by which you are sending your
shipments.
Alaska can be a challenging place to move freight. With a total area of 591,004 square miles, you
need a company that knows the ins and outs of Alaska. Alaska is more than twice the size of Texas,
the next largest state, and occupies 16% of the total US land area; the e w extension is 2,261 mi
(3,639 km); the maximum n s extension is 1,420 mi (2,285 km).
With the lack of highways in Alaska most shipments go by air or sea. There is no railroad service
from lower 48 states or from Canada to Alaska. The Alaska Highway, which extends 1,523 mi
(2,451 km) from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, to Fairbanks, is the only total road link with the
rest of the United States.
In Alaska, conditions are often extreme, costs are always high, and time is precious. Given the state
s geographic breadth, fickle weather, and the cost of transporting freight across great distances,
ensuring seamless transportation handoffs is a necessity.

Benefits Of Early Childhood Education Essay

8 September 2015
Benefits of Early Childhood Education The earlier you enrich a child s life with an education, the
greater the outcome will be in the future. Parents are the first teachers of young children. Children
acquire their knowledge and actions from observing their parents. That is how their minds develop
and how they obtain certain skills. They learn the basis of reading and writing skills at young ages.
Having an early education helps later down the road with saving money. Early Childhood
Education leads to social and emotional development, increased literacy, and fiscal savings. The
first outcome of early childhood Education is social and emotional development. The key to a
critical foundation for lifelong learning and development is positive social and emotional
development (Social Emotional Development). Social and emotional development helps to
navigate young children in supportive relationships with other young children (Social Emotional ...

Having a high education is one of the largest factors for saving money and helping the economy.
Children with a higher literacy rate pay fewer taxes, earn more money, and are less susceptible
to commit a crime (Calman and Tarr Whelan 2). Having children with a good background in
school helps the economy. These children are more likely to get jobs, work efficiently, and buy
things (Calman and Tarr Whelan 2). By being educated you save money and with that money they
are able to buy things they want, which boost the economy. Children that have an early education
save time and money by not needing extra or special classes that can be costly (Calman and Tarr
Whelan 4). Inadequate education in young children leads to excessive spending that is not
necessary or is unsuccessful (Trostel 1). Not only does an early education give development and
literacy skills, it also helps you save money down the

The, America, By Ralph Waldo Emerson
America the brave, America the Best, these are the phrases that an average American individual
grows up with. America without any second thoughts is considered to be the best in everything, the
number one nation in the world, which is a result of immense planning, and hard work that the
generations before us went through to build this nation. Little does one realize today that
continuous efforts are required to stay on top, and this illusion of excellence and being the best in
everything has clouded the reality for the present generation where people have started taking all
the resources and facilities for granted. The mind of this country, taught to aim at low objects, eats
upon itself. Ralph Waldo Emersonoffered that observation in 1837, but his words echo with painful
prescience in today s very different United States. Americans are in serious intellectual trouble in
danger of losing our hard won cultural capital to a virulent mixture of anti intellectualism, anti
rationalism and low expectations. People are reluctant to work hard as their ancestors did and more
emphasis is placed on the quantity of work rather than quality. Such ignorance has resulted in
sinking economy, generations today have been so much pampered by the resources provided by the
government that nobody wants to work no body wants to take the hard route anymore. There, in
fact, is absolutely no evidence to support the statement that America the greatest country in the
world anymore. We are

Running Away Research Paper
When the moment comes when you realize that your teenage son or daughter is missing and
you believe he or she has run away from home, it can be intense. You may panic and experience a
variety of thoughts and emotions about your child s safety and wonder what you should do next.
There are concrete steps you can take to find your child s whereabouts. The following are among
the most important. Contact those who know your child Obviously this includes friends of your
child, but you also want to speak to parents of your child s friends as well. If your teenager has a
job, you should contact them and also the school they attend. The idea is to determine who was the
last known person to speak or see your child before they went missing. You also... Show more

The amount of clothes they took will be a clue as to how long your teenager plans to be gone. It
is common for teens to runaway for a short time, but plan to return quickly. There may be items
that they left behind that have great meaning to them, and this may indicate that their running
away was a decision done on impulse, so they may not be gone for too long. Contact the police
All of the information you have gathered from your child s friends, their job and school can be
given to the police. You will also need to provide a recent photograph of your teenager to the
police, so have this ready. Even if you think your child will be back in the next day or two, if
your teenager is a minor, you must contact the police. You could be wrong, and their assistance
can be invaluable in getting your teenage back. Use the services of a private investigator The
police have a heavy case load when it comes to runaway teenagers, so the time they put into
finding your teenage son or daughter is going to be limited. The best course of action is to call a
private investigator, and the sooner you do this, the better the chances are that your teenager
will be found. The trail will still be warm. Unlike the police, we are not involved in finding
criminals. We are focused on a more narrow range of services, and locating people is one of them.
If your teenager has runaway from home, there is a very good chance we can locate him or

Summary Of Balthasar And Feste
Balthasar and Feste fulfill the same role of paid entertainers that are kept around to make the
nobility laugh. This role seems like one that Shakespeare used simply to continue the progression of
the play. This argument is mostly true with Balthasar who we learn very little about and who
appears only when the plot necessitates it. On the other hand, Feste is a much more complex and
central character. Shakespeare uses Feste to insert his own commentary about the playand the
characters in it. Feste displays more cynicism and bitterness than other characters and his songs do
not always align with the tone of the play. With Balthasar and Feste, Shakespeare takes two
characters that fulfill the same role and has used them in entirely different ways to reach the goals
he wants to achieve.
Balthasar s first appearance is in the palace orchard where Benedick is hiding. He sings a song
about men being unfaithful, Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more, Men were deceivers ever,
(2.3.blank blank). Don Pedro and Claudio are using Balthasar to set up their conversation about
Beatrice s supposed love for Benedick. They have Balthasar sing about men being unfaithful which
leads into their conversation about Benedick being too prideful for Beatrice (lines lines). Balthasar
s song obviously irritates Benedick, an he had been a dog that should have howled thus, they would
have hanged him (2.3.blank blank). The choice of song is intentional but not by Balthasar, but
instead by Pedro and

Hegemonic Masculinity In American Culture
1.Hegemonic Masculinity is basically the idea of male dominance. This is important to American
Culture because, it helps to explain why males put themselves higher than females. In the
American culture it is easy to see that males have more power in the deciding aspects. One of the
ways to see this is in the government. If you look at the United States government you would see
that the majority of representatives are males. Additionally, if you look at the list of presidents you
would see that they have all been males. This goes to show that the maledominance is a real thing
in terms of a glance.
When you dig deeper into the American culture you will begin to understand different ways that
Hegemonic Masculinity takes place. One of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most common would be insults. If you have a male on a baseball team and the coach
tells him he throws like a girl. The coach just told that male that they do not throw well and that
they are weak. One of the reason that we get this idea is because society has tried to convince us
that females are weak. They do this through branding and media. So when the coach tells the boy
that he throws like a girl the coach is really telling the boy that his throw is weak and needs to be
stronger to make a difference. Another saying that is used is boys don t cry . This puts into the
male culture that men are not supposed to cry or be weak. If you are a male and cry in public
you are looked down upon and seem to be not masculine. If a male feels unmasculine they will
try to do everything that they can to be more masculine. One of the great places use see this is in
college. If you look at a lot of fraternity s hazing rituals you see that most of them are trying to get
the men to act more macho and strong. This is to increase their Hegemonic Masculinity. They do
this because they have been told from a young age that being emotional and weak are female traits
and if you fall into these trait then you are not a real male. And so they go and do these things to
fit into what society tells them to do, so that they can be a dominate male in the

significance of a t ratio can be determined by comparison with the critical values in a statistical

Big brother watched the citizens through the millions of telescreens throughout the nation that
followed everyone s every move (Orwell). Through these ridiculous means, they could easily
track down criminals or people they thought might become a criminal. Even if it might help the
government, it ultimately is completely inappropriate and violates many rights a citizen should
have. They should not be watched while they sleep or be worried to look a certain way in fear of
being arrested. Sadly our country is turning to the same measures to catch criminals. In Long
Beach they combined the retail cameras and security cameras to use in order to catch criminals,
a total of 400 cameras (Winton). Although they say these are being used only when they suspect
criminal activity, who is to say they aren t watching around the clock. Long Beach police
department can easily watch the city s people throughout the whole day whether or not there is

A Happy Marriage By Fawn Weaver
A Happy Marriage:
New York Times Bestselling Author, Fawn Weaver, points out that The greatest marriages are
built on teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never ending portion of
love and grace (Weaver). The quote helps give examples on what defines a happy marriage.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word happy is defined as feeling or showing pleasure or
contentment and the word marriage is defined in this context as The legally or formally recognized
union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in

U.S. there were 2,118,000 marriages, with a marriage rate at 6.8 per 1,000 total population and
divorce rates at 3.6 per 1,000 population. (CDC) But what actually makes a happy marriage? In
order for a marriage to be a happy one, honesty, patience, communication, love, and respect must
be present from both parties. Out of these criteria, love and respect are the two most important
aspects to happiness in a marriage. All other criteria depend on those two very basic principles
being met first. Without love and respect in a union, none of the other attributes of a happy
marriage will even be able to exist. Think of marriage much like a house, with love being the
foundation, respect being the supporting frame, patience and honesty being the windows and walls,
and communication as the roof. Each

Taxi Driver Social Context
Taxi Driver, a 1976 thriller directed by Martin Scorsese grants onlookers a grimy view into the
lonely, slowly deteriorating life of the disturbed New York City cabbie Travis Bickle (Robert
DeNiro), a Vietnam War veteran. Viewers are guided through Bickle s take on N.Y.C. through the
masterful use of aesthetically pleasing camera techniques such as the rule of thirds that bring focus
onto the characters onscreen without causing the eye discomfort. Sound choices further immerse
the audience in the buildup to and execution of up close, violent, and mental action that ensues
later in Travis story. However, Travis focused story is not simply delivered through some
indescribable magic of film. To fully appreciate how Taxi Driveris put together... Show more

One example of the camera s use of leading lines is visible in the scene where Bickle asks the all
too famous question You talkin to me? (Taxi Driver, 1976) A vigilant viewer may notice that the
background seems to be tilted outwards leading from the left side of the shot to the right side,
with Travis upper body and head remaining on the right side of the shot. A sensation of being led
by the background to the image of Travis may be noticed by the viewer, as the angle of said
background tilts towards Travis image. Making use of this technique both accents and emphasizes
Bickle s presence onscreen. Leading lines camerawork does not disappear from the film, either. It
enhances around three quarters of the scenes where some story related event occurs. This technique
draws more attention to the story, as it leads the viewer s eye to many of the characters/ events

The Motorcycle Diaries By Che Guevara Analysis
During the process of discoveries, it can be profoundly momentous in unforeseen situations. It may
confront individuals ethical, ideals to create emotional and intellectual responses and confront their

illustrates the fulfilled adventures of Guevara and his companion, Alberto. Upon Che s course of
self discovery, he discovers physical environments of deprived social prejudice, the South American
civilians had suffered. Thus, caused him to alter his perspectives and ideals. Alternatively, the
enigmatic poem Ariel, composed by Sylvia Plath, explores Plath s own spiritual horse riding

Head Coach Research Paper
In June, Blair students, Tys, Jacob, Clio, Aya, and I went to Williams College for the Squash
And Beyond summer camp. The camp was run by the head squash coach at Williams, Zafi.
About forty four squash players attended this camp, along with three head coaches, one track
coach, and three current player coaches. The player coaches consisted of Darius Campbell,
former Blair student and currently number three at Bates, Mario Yanez, currently number one at
Rochester, and Chris Gordon, current pro, and number forty five in the world. The head coaches
were Mr. Moore, our own Blair coach, Zafi, the current head coach of williams, and Adam. These
coaches helped us with many aspects of the game. On the first day of camp, the coaches put us

day we all went kayaking in the Deerfield River, playing with super soaker water guns and
traversing five miles of river. The next night was dodgeball night, and the following night was
soccer. The final day of the camp, the campers all played squash matches against each other. The
teams for the matches were the same teams that were assigned to us for the activities, and we
were ranked based on our abilities. The team led by Mario came out victorious, each team
member being awarded a Dunlop hat. The Squash And Beyond camp at Williams was a great

Criminology

Abstract
This Paper will discuss what theories can explain the deviant behavior of the characters in the
movie Boyz N the Hood.
What Starts Criminal Behavior? History shows that through life violence is a cycle within itself.
Criminology shows different views on how and why criminal behavior happens. By watching the
movie Boyz in The Hood we see the crimes take place and show why these events happened.
Based off the information from class and from past theories I formulate my own theories of why
crime happens.

That s hurts Doughboy and it seems like he is into the streets because that s the only thing that is
giving him the attention that he wants and needs. Doughboy feeds on the attention that he gets
from the streets of L.A. It helps him think he is wanted by people that love him. In his mind it s
a lost relationship with his mother because even if he tries to do stay out of jail, try and do right
by her she still wouldn t care or even notice that he is trying to build a mother son bond between
them. So it gets to the point where he seeks and gets revenge on the guys who killed his brother
Ricky. And he doesn t care if their guys come back in retaliation to kill him. There was a quote
he said in the movie saying either they don t know, don t show, or don t care about what s going
on in the hood. He has a good point because the people that do care is either scared to say
anything or has never lived in the ghetto before so they can only go by what other people say that s
happening in the streets.
Most people get killed over what is known as the Code of The Street. In the movie it shows that
their code of the street was revenge. They killed Ricky Doughboy and his friends killed them. It
also shows that violence and crime happens all over something petty. In one scene in the movie
they show Ferris walking into Ricky

H Freewill Symbolism
Symbolism is an important factor in the adjustment bureau, and plays a prominent part
throughout the story. The Chairman is the most mysterious of symbols, he is a figure we never
get to see or we don t realize we have seen it, and I think that was on purpose. Maybe the
chairman isn t shown to allow people of different beliefs to feel connected to a higher being. But
what we do understand is what the chairman represents; it represents a being whose power is
beyond all else and one who can see and predict everything. The chairman is supposed to
symbolize a god, but is that really what itis or is it just an elected position that can be held by
anyone. A God is seen as an almighty being that controls all, and created all. The chairman is like
a god but he didn t create the world, he just runs it. The chairman has the ability to rewrite people s
memory and even change their fate, but does that make him a god? In the movie the agents refer to
him as an elected individual in charge of everything.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the movie the agents say that freewill exists but in insignificant choices like what you have for
lunch or what you choose to drink. And for all we know this can be true, but there is no way of
disproving the idea. In the movie freewill is controlled by the agents who adjust people s choices
to fit the path that is laid out for them. Even if the agents manipulate people s lives they don t
know and just see it as a coincidence or have no action against it at all. Freewill is an important
idea to humanity but yet we cannot prove if we actually have it. The reason for humanity s
freewill to be taken away is they aren t able to use reason to solve issues they let emotion do it
instead. Every time humanity is given a chance at freewill they mess it up by causing wars and
depressions. This is why the agents are necessary in the world to make sure we don t destroy

example, if you have a CEO that likes to concentrate on operations the COO may be more
inclined to concentrate on strategies and vice versa. The important piece here is that when a
COO is hired on, their job is laid out for them. Upon hiring a COO, the CEO needs to identify
areas where they/the company is lacking in C suite leadership. As stated above a COO is
usually brought in to fill gaps on the executive level. For example, if a CEO no longer has time

On the positive aspect, social accounting can help individual companies identify and utilize
opportunities for cost effectiveness, introduction of profitable eco friendly products and services,
energy saving and environmental protection (Defourny and Thorbecke, 1984). Also, both current
and future concerns of stakeholders forewarn companies about any possible area of conflict.
Yanovsky (2006) further claimed that companies become aware of the probable risk factors that are
capable of affecting their business operations, which afford the chance for companies to prepare the
coping mechanism.

Good accounts must accord a series of principles. In general, good principles of social accounting
have to be inclusive, involving dialogue with stakeholders; to be complete, highlighting the key

Key For Key, Pound For Pound, I m The Biggest Dope Dealer
Key for key, pound for pound, I m the biggest dope dealer, I serve all over town. Imagine being
on a jury of a drug related case and hearing these rap lyrics played as evidence. Would you
immediately charge the defendant of drug distribution or would you consider his lyrics as a
form of artistic expression? In the court system the disclosure of rap lyrics written by a
defendant as evidence is an ongoing controversy that is becoming increasingly popular and
accepted. Jurors face a difficult decision on the credibility of the lyrics and how to properly
interpret them when used as criminal evidence. Is this really a confession from the defendant? Do
the lyrics describe the defendant s motivations, intentions, or conduct? The debate continues to
distinguish the defendant s words as artistic context or criminal intentions. There are many rap
artists who create and use their true life experiences into lyrical form. There are also rap artists
who express what they experience through the eyes of real criminals, but have never actually
lived the life. When the court allows the admission of rap lyrics as evidence, this allows the
prosecutor to use them in two ways. One way is as substantial evidence where they treat it as an
admission of guilt or a confession. This will show the defendant s knowledge of or intention to
commit the crime. Another way is by the prosecutor wanting to portray an image of the defendant
and connect them to the existing evidence based

Life In Industrialized Cities In The 19th Century
All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end (Sharma). Change is what

conditions in cities were terrible, but as regulations were put into effect and as time passed, these
living conditions greatly improved. Life in industrialized cities was an improvement over life in the

Workers in the cities were unhappy with the working conditions and decided they needed to do
something about it: Organized into strong unions and large political parties, workers were able
to campaign for changes in the law (Clare 48). Workers were able to unite in the form of unions.
These unions fought for better working conditions which led to laws improving working
conditions. At first, city life was extremely poor. This was completely changed with new laws and
regulations: Laws were passed requiring safety standards in factories, setting minimum age limits
for young workers, establishing schools for children whose parents both worked, and creating
other standards for the protection of workers (Newton). As a result of poor working conditions,
restrictions were created which improved working conditions. This made life in the cities better
than life in the country because most of the jobs were located in the cities and these improved
working conditions led to better job satisfaction and healthier

Why Is The Byzantine Empire Successful
Success of the Byzantine Empire under Justinian
What defines success? Some may say an empire needs a strong army and defence to be the most
successful. Some say that great coded laws and reforms make for the most successful empire. Some
may say that a great government defines success. But the Byzantine Empire under Justinian Rule
showed us that in order to achieve the most success, all of these factors were needed. The
Byzantine Empire under Justinian was successful for a long period of time because of a well
organized government, an amazing leader, and a strong army and defense force. The success came
from a strong government, with ministers doing separate jobs and an organized provincial
government, who established coded laws and reforms, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason why Justinian caused the Byzantine empire to succeed during his reign was
because of his new coded system of laws. Justinian inherited a vast amount of Roman laws,
called the twelve tables. (Allen Evans 24, Commire). In 528, Justinian set up a commission to
codify the Roman law (Ostrogorski 74). 1528 books of Roman law were scanned and combined
into fifty books divided into 432 chapters (Allen Evans 24). The work was called the Digest, and
had immediate impacts on the Byzantine Empire and then it s long success (Allen Evans 24,
Commire). Lawyers were able reference the laws in court, allowing fairer decisions to be made.
The government, now was not only supported by its army, was also supported by the law (Allen
Evans 24, Commire). Both of these things were very important to the success of the empire.
Civilians had the ability to go to court and make sure that decisions were based on hundreds of
years of law written out in one place, and not an impulsive decision of a judge. The government
also had an extreme benefit in terms of having written out code of law, so there could be no
arguments in terms of taxation or punishments. This attributed to the success of the empire
because this helped stabilize the empire because important decisions could have been made based
on hundreds of years of law and farer decisions prevented revolts. Coded laws also

American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribes It has been over 110 years since the United

Jesus ministry tells about the life and teachings of Jesus. It is written in bible as stories and

of the Last Supper.
Early Galilean events started when Jesus had gone back to Galilee after he was baptized by John

NCR Country Club Case Study
NCR Country Club was chartered as a benefit for the majority of National Cash Register
employees. NCR employees by late 1990s were aging rapidly, and their core membership was
declining drastically. NCR country membership club was not attracting new members, especially
young families within its precinct. NRC needed to increase and attract as many social groups as
possible. NCR management board confined to McMahon consulting Group to steer the country
club in a new strategic direction.
If you were McMahon Group, how would you present the findings of your study to the NCRCC
board? Explain the rationale for your chosen method.
Data presentation of research findings will depend on the research methodology used to collect
data. Research data can be collected by using qualitative or quantitative techniques. Mc Mahon

use of graphs, pie charts, and tables. Evaluating which of this approach is suitable depends on the
intricacy and amount of data presented (Attride, 2001).
Qualitative research methods use semi structured and unstructured methods to collect data. The
limitations of qualitative

Meditative Practice Of Mindfulness Essay The Krame Center at Ramapo College recently partnered with the Center of Mindfulness (CFM) at the University of Massachusetts, introducing new programming this fall semester designed to create awareness about the meditative practice of mindfulness. Inspired by their personal experiences with mindfulness, the Krame family was keen on establishing a safe space on campus for students, faculty and staff, as well as the surrounding community. With the support of President Mercer, the Krame Center, housed in the Anisfield School of Business, is an outlet for contemplative and meditative practices that are firmly rooted in the concept of mindfulness. His famous speech I have a dream is partly selected as our English text in China. Although I know he is well known for the strong and affective words, Letter from Birmingham Jail still gave me a very deep impression. It is perfectly organized in a logical and thoughtful arrangement. On the other hand, the words are strong and full of real, impressive emotion. To fully understand this letter, having a basic background of Martin Luther King and the social environment at that time is necessary. King was born into a rich middle class family of Atlanta in the year 1929. His father and grandfather were both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the letter, (from paragraph 1 to paragraph 3) King successfully reverts his passive position as prisoner to a busy leader minister, who had little time to respond to criticism. In the first paragraph, he kept his polite tone, and made the statement in such a way that he was not forced to answer but willing to reply because he respected those clergymen s good will and sincere. Then, in the following paragraphs, he answers the question: Why is Martin Luther King is here in Birmingham? In this section, the words more basically , moreover show a logical organization. He mentions his president position in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, to indicate his responsibility of the situation of Birmingham. Here, he emphasizes the invitation and organization ties to imply that he should be respected as a guest. In the coming paragraph, he compared himself as a minister with those Christian saints in the history to gain trust and more respect. Then he focuses on the duty of a human being and an American citizen, who should show more concern to those injustices no matter where they are. Here, he refutes the clergymen s statement about outsiders coming in by saying: Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial outside agitator idea (King 404). By the end of the first section of the letter, King has perfectly got the trust and respect he deserved as a man, a minister, a civil rights leader, even a prisoner. We can see ... Before I start let me explain what Prescribed burning is it is the process of selecting an area of land and applying fire that is controlled to that area to reduce the risk of a bigger fire in the future. Okay back to the question. The answer to the question depends on your viewpoint about the matter. Some people believe that it is the best option in the long run but others believe that it is unnecessary and that it is dangerous. But if we stop doing prescribed burns we have a greater risk of bigger and more dangerous fires. Why should we have prescribed burns? Prescribed burns decrease waste in forests that can be hazardous fuels for fires. They promote the growth of trees, and plant by making a clear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The expedited COA process is part of the FAA s reauthorization legislation the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (P. Federal, state and local government entities must obtain a COA from the FAA before flying a UAV in the national airspace, the agency says( Dorr 2014). ( Bureau of Counterterrorism 2013 ) The conflict of expedited certificate authorization for the operation unmanned aerial vehicles is easily assessable to act on violations of civilian rights. In the procedure of securing a certificate of authorization, there is little to no training of individuals with in local law enforcement to act according me with in Federal or even state privacy regulations. There is also the possibility that UAVs that carry chemical sniffers could be totally unencumbered by privacy protections. (Federal Aviation Administration 2013) Although the potential contribution of UAVs to sectors such as environmental protection, law enforcement and various commercial activities is apparent, they still seem not to be ready for civilian use. This is due to several reasons, including e.g. civilian UAVs (CUAVs) requiring different technological solutions such as optimized platforms, different endurance requirements, dedicated payloads and different ground control systems. An additional important problem to be solved is the integration of UAVs in the civilian airspace, which will require the adoption of civilian airworthiness standards and proven safety features. Last but not least trust has to be created, both at the public sectors and the commercial community, that CUAVs have economic advantages ( Vanclay 2003) One of the main hyposisthist that is surrounding the inhabitation of the advantages of UAVs, ... One of the main reasons for tampax being successful only in North America and Europe is because tampons still have not gained popularity as a result of various cultural resistance, religious resistance and/or myths associated with using a tampon. • 8. Alaska, Canada, And Canada When you think of sending a package, the first thing that strikes your mind is efficient and prompt delivery. This is the major trait you look for in a courier company by which you are sending your shipments. Alaska can be a challenging place to move freight. With a total area of 591,004 square miles, you need a company that knows the ins and outs of Alaska. Alaska is more than twice the size of Texas, the next largest state, and occupies 16% of the total US land area; the e w extension is 2,261 mi (3,639 km); the maximum n s extension is 1,420 mi (2,285 km). With the lack of highways in Alaska most shipments go by air or sea. There is no railroad service from lower 48 states or from Canada to Alaska. The Alaska Highway, which extends 1,523 mi (2,451 km) from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, to Fairbanks, is the only total road link with the rest of the United States. In Alaska, conditions are often extreme, costs are always high, and time is precious. Given the state s geographic breadth, fickle weather, and the cost of transporting freight across great distances, ensuring seamless transportation handoffs is a necessity. Background Anchorage is the state s largest general cargo port, with over three million tons per year. Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is one of the world s leading cargo airports. • 11. The, America, By Ralph Waldo Emerson America the brave, America the Best, these are the phrases that an average American individual grows up with. America without any second thoughts is considered to be the best in everything, the number one nation in the world, which is a result of immense planning, and hard work that the generations before us went through to build this nation. Little does one realize today that continuous efforts are required to stay on top, and this illusion of excellence and being the best in everything has clouded the reality for the present generation where people have started taking all the resources and facilities for granted. The mind of this country, taught to aim at low objects, eats upon itself. Ralph Waldo Emersonoffered that observation in 1837, but his words echo with painful prescience in today s very different United States. Americans are in serious intellectual trouble in danger of losing our hard won cultural capital to a virulent mixture of anti intellectualism, anti rationalism and low expectations. People are reluctant to work hard as their ancestors did and more emphasis is placed on the quantity of work rather than quality. Such ignorance has resulted in sinking economy, generations today have been so much pampered by the resources provided by the government that nobody wants to work no body wants to take the hard route anymore. There, in fact, is absolutely no evidence to support the statement that America the greatest country in the world anymore. We are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Summary Of Balthasar And Feste Balthasar and Feste fulfill the same role of paid entertainers that are kept around to make the nobility laugh. This role seems like one that Shakespeare used simply to continue the progression of the play. This argument is mostly true with Balthasar who we learn very little about and who appears only when the plot necessitates it. On the other hand, Feste is a much more complex and central character. Shakespeare uses Feste to insert his own commentary about the playand the characters in it. Feste displays more cynicism and bitterness than other characters and his songs do not always align with the tone of the play. With Balthasar and Feste, Shakespeare takes two characters that fulfill the same role and has used them in entirely different ways to reach the goals he wants to achieve. Balthasar s first appearance is in the palace orchard where Benedick is hiding. He sings a song about men being unfaithful, Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more, Men were deceivers ever, (2.3.blank blank). Don Pedro and Claudio are using Balthasar to set up their conversation about Beatrice s supposed love for Benedick. They have Balthasar sing about men being unfaithful which leads into their conversation about Benedick being too prideful for Beatrice (lines lines). This is important to American Culture because, it helps to explain why males put themselves higher than females. In the American culture it is easy to see that males have more power in the deciding aspects. One of the ways to see this is in the government. If you look at the United States government you would see that the majority of representatives are males. Additionally, if you look at the list of presidents you would see that they have all been males. This goes to show that the maledominance is a real thing in terms of a glance. One of the most common would be insults. If you have a male on a baseball team and the coach tells him he throws like a girl. The coach just told that male that they do not throw well and that they are weak. One of the reason that we get this idea is because society has tried to convince us that females are weak. They do this through branding and media. So when the coach tells the boy that he throws like a girl the coach is really telling the boy that his throw is weak and needs to be stronger to make a difference. Another saying that is used is boys don t cry . This puts into the male culture that men are not supposed to cry or be weak. If you are a male and cry in public you are looked down upon and seem to be not masculine. If a male feels unmasculine they will try to do everything that they can to be more masculine. One of the great places use see this is in college. If you look at a lot of fraternity s hazing rituals you see that most of them are trying to get the men to act more macho and strong. This is to increase their Hegemonic Masculinity. They do this because they have been told from a young age that being emotional and weak are female traits and if you fall into these trait then you are not a real male. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never ending portion of love and grace (Weaver). The quote helps give examples on what defines a happy marriage. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word happy is defined as feeling or showing pleasure or contentment and the word marriage is defined in this context as The legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship. The CDC s National Center for Health Statistics reports that as of 2011 in the U.S. there were 2,118,000 marriages, with a marriage rate at 6.8 per 1,000 total population and divorce rates at 3.6 per 1,000 population. (CDC) But what actually makes a happy marriage? In order for a marriage to be a happy one, honesty, patience, communication, love, and respect must be present from both parties. Out of these criteria, love and respect are the two most important aspects to happiness in a marriage. All other criteria depend on those two very basic principles being met first. Without love and respect in a union, none of the other attributes of a happy marriage will even be able to exist. We were greeted by a friendly waitress, her constant smile was comforting and added to the nice atmosphere. I told her that I would like to try an appetizer and she was quick to point out her three favorites. Two of our guests decided to split the chicken quesadilla and I chose to split the chicken taquitos. Imagine being on a jury of a drug related case and hearing these rap lyrics played as evidence. Would you immediately charge the defendant of drug distribution or would you consider his lyrics as a form of artistic expression? In the court system the disclosure of rap lyrics written by a defendant as evidence is an ongoing controversy that is becoming increasingly popular and accepted. Jurors face a difficult decision on the credibility of the lyrics and how to properly interpret them when used as criminal evidence. Is this really a confession from the defendant? Do the lyrics describe the defendant s motivations, intentions, or conduct? The debate continues to distinguish the defendant s words as artistic context or criminal intentions. There are many rap artists who create and use their true life experiences into lyrical form. There are also rap artists who express what they experience through the eyes of real criminals, but have never actually lived the life. When the court allows the admission of rap lyrics as evidence, this allows the prosecutor to use them in two ways. One way is as substantial evidence where they treat it as an admission of guilt or a confession. This will show the defendant s knowledge of or intention to commit the crime. Another way is by the prosecutor wanting to portray an image of the defendant and connect them to the existing evidence based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some say that great coded laws and reforms make for the most successful empire. Some may say that a great government defines success. But the Byzantine Empire under Justinian Rule showed us that in order to achieve the most success, all of these factors were needed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first reason why Justinian caused the Byzantine empire to succeed during his reign was because of his new coded system of laws. Justinian inherited a vast amount of Roman laws, called the twelve tables. (Allen Evans 24, Commire). In 528, Justinian set up a commission to codify the Roman law (Ostrogorski 74). 1528 books of Roman law were scanned and combined into fifty books divided into 432 chapters (Allen Evans 24). The work was called the Digest, and had immediate impacts on the Byzantine Empire and then it s long success (Allen Evans 24, Commire). Lawyers were able reference the laws in court, allowing fairer decisions to be made. The government, now was not only supported by its army, was also supported by the law (Allen Evans 24, Commire). Both of these things were very important to the success of the empire. Civilians had the ability to go to court and make sure that decisions were based on hundreds of years of law written out in one place, and not an impulsive decision of a judge. The government also had an extreme benefit in terms of having written out code of law, so there could be no arguments in terms of taxation or punishments. This attributed to the success of the empire because this helped stabilize the empire because important decisions could have been made based on hundreds of years of law and farer decisions prevented revolts.
