Arguement Essay
Crafting an argument essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between
persuasion, logic, and eloquence. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a coherent and
compelling argument but also in navigating the vast sea of information, opinions, and
counterarguments that surround any given topic.
Firstly, one must meticulously research the subject, delving into various perspectives to gain a
comprehensive understanding. This involves sifting through academic articles, reputable sources,
and contrasting viewpoints to build a robust foundation for the argument. The process demands
time, patience, and discernment to filter out biased information and hone in on credible evidence.
Next comes the intricate task of structuring the essay. An effective argumentative essay demands
a clear introduction, a well-organized body, and a powerful conclusion. Ensuring that each
paragraph seamlessly connects to the next, maintaining a logical flow, is an art in itself. Properly
integrating evidence and examples to support the claims adds an additional layer of complexity.
The challenge intensifies when addressing counterarguments. A well-rounded argument essay
anticipates opposing views and strategically refutes them, strengthening the overall position.
This requires a nuanced understanding of the topic and the ability to engage with alternative
perspectives without compromising the coherence of the central argument.
Moreover, striking the right tone is crucial. Balancing assertiveness with respectfulness is a
delicate task, as a tone too aggressive may alienate the reader, while one too passive may
undermine the persuasiveness of the argument.
In conclusion, writing an argument essay demands a skillful blend of research, critical thinking,
and effective communication. It's an intellectual journey that challenges one's ability to analyze,
synthesize, and present information persuasively. As daunting as it may seem, mastering the art
of the argumentative essay is a rewarding endeavor that sharpens not only one's writing skills but
also the ability to navigate complex ideas.

symptoms/behaviors do you see as being associated with the early stages of

of the names though that she still remembers the faces. Fanny forgets the stop signs;
her driving also gets worse since she could not react simultaneously. Joe forgets the
way, and could not navigate where to go, so he usually gets lost. 2.Think about the

However, their ways of accepting this disease are pretty different from each other.
With Bessie, she stayed positive and welcomed it as she is refusing to have the
medication helping her memories. She kept going out and having conversations
with people around her. Besides, Fanny was upset for her disease since she could
not be able to drive anymore, which in her words is being dependent on her family.
The fact is that she could no longer remember the street signs and the way to drive.
Joe s behavior is more positive than Fanny s. He could be able to use the computer
to post his own entries about Alzheimer. He was easy to get lost when he is by
himself. Yolanda was diagnosed 6 years ago, so her memory was damaged more.

Examples Of Wrongful Convictions
However, it is not always the case that a confession is the end of a case, as there is
always the chance that it was in fact a false confession. This is not something people
usually suspect, as was mentioned previously that people assume no reasonable
person would admit to guilt if they were innocent. Often times the false confession
comes about through coercion and the tactics of policeattempting to obtain a
confession no matter if it is accurate or not. There is a vast array of options for
police in trying to obtain a confession from a party that they feel is guilty believing
that the prospect of an accurate confession outweighs the possibility of obtaining a
false one. It is very common for an officer to simply lie to a suspect who... Show

In come cases it does occur that the error in the conviction is caught and the person
who was wrongfully convicted gets the charges against them dropped and they are
released from whatever form of punishment the courts deemed acceptable however
even so, the convicted has often spent over 10 years in prison, or was executed by
the state. More often than not, wrongful convictions go undetected and this leaves
researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine the causes of
wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been
uncovered. From the first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being
wrongfully punished (whether that be community service, to incarceration, to being
put on death row) many factors go into the process of a person being wrongfully
accused of criminal activity. This paper theorizes that some of them main causes of a
person being wrongfully convicted include the suspect giving false confession
typically under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being erroneously
gathered and/or presented for court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness
testimony against the accused. These three causes, working either in cohesion or
separately all contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction in the
criminal justice system. On the surface, studying and examining the causes of
wrongful conviction is important so that we can be informed and thus attempt to
avoid these causes. However, the benefit of the examination of these causes foes
deeper than that. By examining the causes of wrongful conviction one can attempt to
disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow for such errors or
misuses of power to exist in the first place. By doing this a person can then critically
examine the criminal justice system which could lead to taking the necessary next

Ambiguity In A Clean Well Lighted Place
A Solace for the Lonely On stressful evenings people often find themselves walking
in circles hunting for an escape; as seen in Ernest Hemingway s, A Clean, Well
Lighted Place , which exemplifies the life of an old man and two waiters. The old
man is doing exactly what most people do when they have reached rock bottom. He
is hunting for peace in his life and has decided to find such solace drinking in a local
cafГ©. The little cafГ© in the short storysymbolizes a safe zone for people who feel
unwanted, alone, and in despair. Hemingway uses the younger waiter as a foil for
the older waiter to emphasize the opposing personalities and beliefs of the waiters.
The ambiguity in the dialog between the two waiters evolved into a scandal
relating to reproductions of the short story. The cafГ© is the only solace for the
older waiter and all those who need a light for the night (Page 145). They yearn for
a place to feel wanted and not be alone. The younger waiter does not understand the
need for a clean and pleasant cafГ©, so he tells the old man, Hombre, there are
bodegas open all night long (145). As the older waiter would agree, bars have a
different ambiance than cafГ©s. CafГ©s are nice, quiet, and quaint establishments
where one can relax and forget their troubles. The older waiter states, It is necessary
that the place be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not
want music (146). Bars usually provide music for their... Show more content on

The two waiters exemplify the two ends of the spectrum of people. The oldest is the
lonely and the younger is the happily married. This short story makes the differences

Circuit Board Fabricators
CBF has hired you to help determine why they are not able to produce the 1,000
boards per day.
1.What type of process flow structure is CBF using?
The company is using a batch shop process flow structure. CBF, Inc. bases its
board fabrication process on the average job size or on its typical order. This means
that the company proceeds with the manufacturing process in batches so as to meet
the specific requirements per order. The typical contract that the company currently
gets is 60 boards per order. However, due to persisting factory defects, they
manufacture a total of 75 boards per batch in order to compensate for 20% of the
boards that they typically reject during the process.

The circuit board fabrication comes to an end after the copper plating. The boards
are subjected to a final electrical test to check the integrity of the circuits. Another
5% of the boards are found to be defective during this stage. Before the tests are
done, a setup is needed. The capacity for final testing is computed as follows.
Overall, there is an apparent disparity between the capacities of each of the operation
processes. The output from the different stages ranges from 900 to as much as 1,800
boards. It is seen that the bottleneck in the whole manufacturing of circuit boards is in
the part that has the lowest capacity, and incidentally, located in the earliest part of
the production process В– the cleaning and coating machines. This means that the
maximum number of circuit boards that will be finished by the end of the day is
900. From the finished boards, there is a historical defect rate of 20%, thereby
leaving a total of only 720 boards that are ready for packing and shipping to the
customer. It is therefore apparent that CBF is manufacturing very inefficiently, as
they 280 circuit boards short of the required output per shift of 1,000 units.
4.What is the impact of losses in the process in Inspection and Final Test?
It is said in the case that due to the losses in the system , CBF created a policy to
increase the size of an order to give way to rejected boards. The company has to
make allowances in production

consist of a solid tan body with a dark brown streak down their spine. The tip of the
tail, behind the ears, and side of nose are all black, giving the panther some key
characteristics to remember it by. Kittens of this species start of being grey with
an arrangement of brown or black spots. On the tip of the tail unlike the mature
panthers, they have five rings that fade and become invisible by the six months of
age. Male panthers usually have a weight range from 102 160, while females range
from 50 115 lbs. (U.S. Fish Wildlife Service, 2018). The difference of length from...

The Florida Panther used to thrive throughout most of southeastern United States,
but today, they are little number of species in southern Florida. The habitat of
Florida panthers consists of pinelands, hardwood hammocks, and swamp terrain.
Living in these types of environments, you can tell that their body types are made
to hunt live prey. Their preferences for sources of food are: wild hogs, deer, rabbits,
and when limited resources they will eat raccoons and crocodiles. In the mind of a
panther, their strategy for hunting strategy is single out, stalk, ambush, while rarely
chasing their prey for long periods of time. Florida Panthers are mostly solitary
animals, not relying on a pack to help them hunt or thrive. They use their home
range to live, hunt, and raise their young. Males cover an area of 200 square miles
of land, while females range much lesser than the males at 70 80 square miles. While
covering such a vast majority of land, Florida panthers rarely fight over territory
(BCR,2016). The historical range of this species occurred throughout 7 states
consisting of southeastern United States. In the world today, the panther is limited to
less than five percent of their previous range, only having a single breeding
population located in southern

is a series of islands and it was really a bad atmosphere for fresco. In the 1500s this
early technique of glazing that we see in the art of Raphael changes from fresco
painting later in the 1500s, the artists like Raphael exploit what oil can do and the
way that oil can allow for a very different kind of process This process allows artists
to change things on the fly, freeing them from being slaves to the original drawings.
Madonna and Child is a good example of that. This idea of the artistic process

that same place where the finished painting will eventually be is something that s
unique to the possibilities of oil paint.
Oil paint has a kind of translucency and he really used that to advantage. Oil paint has

operations in the manufacturing segment of production that is highly spatially
disintegrated, characterized by production activities that are broken down into

processes are highly dispersed. Amighini and Gorgoni (2014) explain reasons for the
dispersed nature of the production system. The automobileindustry has been made to

The automobile industry has experienced different progressions. Marukawa (2013)
makes reference to the World Motor Vehicle Statistics. According to the World Motor
Vehicle Statistics, gathered by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association,
some countries that had a vast collection of automobile corporations in 2010 were the
United Kingdom, which had 21 automobile manufacturers, and Malaysia, which had
26 automobile manufacturers. However, China had to a greater extent the highest
number of automobile manufacturers in the world, according to the World Motor
Vehicle Statistics. According to Marukawa (2013), an important characteristic of the
Chinese automobile industry is the magnitude of small scale producers. Marukawa
(2013) discovered that car and engine production are mostly vertically fragmented in
China. Research by Marukawa (2013) showed that firms that want to enter the
industry could outsource production inputs such as engines and design, which
minimizes the entry restrictions for new firms in the industry. The minimization of
entry restrictions, and the rising demand for automobiles in China favored entry into
the automobile industry, according to Marukawa (2013).
Research by Marukawa (2013) discovered that in the 1990s, corporations that
belonged to the government had the ease of protecting domestic markets through
governing the operations of the domestic producers. However, households have now
become the primary consumers of cars, and as a result,

The Correlation Between Pair Bonding And Mother Infant...
Abstract
Oxytocin (OT) has been studied extensively over the past 60 years, and in the past 10
years, there has been a dramatic rise in research due to interest in the many functions
of oxytocin. Through biological mechanisms involving oxytocin, pair bonding, as
well as mother infant relationships are better understood. The intent of this paper is to
establish the correlation between pair bonding and mother infant relationships and
oxytocin. Primate oxytocin research provides groundwork for human research, and
provides greater understanding of human social behavior.
Oxytocin (OT) is a neuropeptide that consists of 9 amino acids. Oxytocin is
synthesized in the hypothalamus, and stored in the posterior pituitary where, under
specific circumstances it is delivered to various regions of the brain including the
hypothalamus, hippocampus amygdala, and nucleus accombens. Functions of
oxytocin vary depending upon the location of delivery within the brain, as well as
quantity and circumstance (Ishak, Kahloon, Fakhry, 2011). Oxytocin has been
gaining the attention of many researchers over the past 60 years due to its
behavioral implications. The body of previous research establishes that the peptide is
vital to many aspects of social behavior from maternal care to social behavior.
Oxytocin was first identified in its effect in child birth. Oxytocin promotes uterine
contractions during labor and has been used extensively to induce labor (Nathanielsz,
1998).
An American Classic Children s Movie, The Lion King
Essay
An American classic children s movie, The Lion King, is a musical film produced by
Walt Disney. The original story focuses on a young lion who spirits into a self
imposed exile after believing he was at fault for his father s death. Although the film
targets a younger audience, it contains a substantial amount of symbolism that only
adults would understand.
In order to examine The Lion King, I will employ The Hero s Journey established by
Joseph Campbell s book The Hero with a Thousand Faces . There are twelve stages
in the Hero s Journey, but I will only discuss four tendencies due to time restraint. In
addition, it will also answer the research question, Does the Lion King s use of the
Hero s Journey push an agenda towards adults of previous life experiences that are
noteworthy, while still maintaining young children as the target audience ? We will
first outline Joseph Campbell s The Hero s Journey, then apply the model to The Lion
King, and finally discuss three implications, spiritual, environmental, and cinematic,
from the analysis.
Joseph Campbell s model includes twelve stages. Respectively in order, the stages are
Ordinary World, call to Adventure, Refusal of the Call, Meeting the Mentor, Crossing
the Threshold, Test, Allies, Enemies , Approach to the Inmost Cave, the Supreme
Ordeal, Reward, the Road Back, Resurrection, and the Return with the Elixir.
According to Campbell in his book,
The usual hero adventure begins with someone from whom has been taken,

Plato And Nausea Comparison
Throughout, Jean Paul Sartre s, Nausea, and Plato s, Alcibiades, the main characters
in each of the books go through a version of discovery of their self knowledge. In
Nausea, Antoine Roquentin s version of self knowledge comes through him through
the physical nausea he feels when finding out about his own existence. In Alcibiades,
the opposite occurs. It is through Alcibiades s lack of knowledgethat he becomes self
aware and learns self knowledge through Socrates teachings on how to care for the
self. In Alcibiades, much of the book is Socrates working with Alcibiades in order
to get him to recognize his own unpreparedness for a future in politics so that he
submit himself to Socrates teachings. Socrates realizes he must show Alcibiades his
own ignorance in order to teach him and does this through questioning him to
recognize his lack of knowledge and then teaching Alcibiades the proper ways to
take care of the self. As Socrates begins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roquentin s self knowledge is actually discovered early in the book when he
realizes, and yet if I had a shadow of self knowledge I could put it to good use now
(4). It was on the first page that he knew something was different, but instead of
having to learn self knowledge, he had to discover it on his own. I think I m the
one that has changed (4). He was no longer being content on being alone (6) or no
longer being able to look at a bottle of beer like everyone else (8) and spend much
of the first section trying to understand why. This is also reflected when he says it

becoming aware of his own discovery of his existence and begins to feel the nausea.

The Use Of Drugs And Drug Abuse In The United States
Drugs are on the uptrend here in America, with more than 120 people dying per
day of drug overdose, according to the Penington Institute. Many people, including
President Trump, have pinpointed Mexico as a source of many of the drugs
consumed in the US. President Trump voiced his views in the speech in 2015 as he
announced his Presidential bid: They re sending people that have lots of problems,
and they re bringing those problems with us. They re bringing drugs. They re
bringing crime. Mr. Trump is right about one thing: Mexicans are smugglingdrugs
into the US. According to a report released by US Customs and Border Protection in
2015, 99.8% of methamphetamine and 99.9% of marijuana captured by the
organization were at the border shared with Mexico.
Even though it is not possible to know exactly how much of the drugs consumed in
the US are imported from Mexico, it is reasonable to deduce from the Customs and
Border Protection figures that the percentage of drugs from Mexico consumed in the
US is a high percentage. Even though this is a major problem in our country today,
drugs imported from Mexico and consumed in America is a problem the the Mexican
and American governments have been trying to solve for half a century. Since the
1960s, the Mexican and American government have imposed ever increasingly
stringent laws on the drug. However, this approach certainly hasn t decreased the use
of drugs in America, but why? I believe that the laws and policies put into action by
the US and Mexico have been largely ineffective because the institutions that put
these laws into effect cannot enforce them, due to lack of funding, corruption in all
levels of government and law enforcement, and the lack of knowledge on the drug
trade.
One of the first investigations into the drug trade, Operation Intercept, occurred in
1969. The report, published by the Secretary of the Treasury, David Kennedy, and the
Attorney General, John Mitchell, outlines and exposes many problems in the effort to
curb the flourishing trade of drugs from Mexico to America. One of the problems that
is repeated several times is the lack of manpower in multiple organizations, including
Border Patrol and Bureau of Customs, two departments that are

They consume growing amounts of energy and other natural resources, degrading the
environment in numerous ways. In addition to using up fossil fuels and other
resources, plastic products create litter, hurt marine life, and threaten the basis of
life on earth. There is over 45 million tons of plastics per year and nearly every
piece of plastic ever made still exists today because of its long life properties.
Biodegradable plastics could be an effective solution to all of these problems.
Biodegradable plastics are a much better choice than non biodegradable plastics
because they are friendlier to the earth and the environment. Biodegradable
plastics break down faster, can be recycled easier and are non toxic. With these
characteristics of biodegradable plastics, we could help save lives and the
environment as well and reduce the threat plastics give to marine life. Plastic, the
wonder material that we use for everything, is perhaps the most harmful of this trash
because it does not readily break down in nature but if it is biodegradable, these
plastics break down faster so they have a much shorter effect on the earth, and they
will degrade completely. Normal plastics are manufactured using oil, and this process
is very harmful to the environment by polluting the air and environment, but this is
not the case with green biodegradable plastics. Using biodegradable plastics will
minimize the effects that these products
Meg Whitman Essay
She delegated important operational tasks to her team of chosen executives, rather
than the directors traditionally in charge of certain divisions. Also, she modified HP
s corporate hierarchy to create a chain of command from the top down; in a company
accustomed to bottom up collaboration and teamwork. Carly alienated employees,
post merger layoffs decreased company motivation and her marketing campaigns
upset people who were worried about job security and financial loss. Nevertheless,
Fiorina doubled HP s revenue as CEO, taking them from the 28th to 11th largest
company in the United States during her reign.
Hewlett Packard gained an invaluable asset in Meg Whitman, an accomplished CEO
with a variety of experiences managing for well known organizations. She is known
as a transformational leader, with an emphasis on team building; challenging her
employees to improve themselves as well as being forward thinkers, allowing them to
solve issues on their own, and seeking individuals who requires little supervision,
being careful not to micro manage. Whitman cared about the employees and gained
the respect, trust, and confidence of the HP organization.

Analysis Of The Book St. Lucy s Home For Girls Raised...
Kanye West said it best, Everybody knows I m a M*f**ing monster and honestly, as
humans we are.
In Seven Monster Theses, Jeffery Cohen develops an idea that monsters are essential
to society. In fact, they construct what is normal , rational , and civilized .
Specifically, monsters are foundational to how we view ourselves. Monsters contain
all the traits deemed unacceptable and odd. It can be concluded that every outlier is a
monster . In St. Lucy s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, Karen Russell tells the
story of a pack of wolf girls who are transitioning into young ladies. Russell delves
into society s need for conformity, gender roles, and change. The story is told from
the point of view of the middle wolf girl, Claudette, and follows her on her journey
from wolf to woman. In relation to Jeffery Cohen s idea of monster culture,
Claudette s journey applies to Thesis IV The Monster Dwells at the Gates of
Difference and part of Thesis I The Monster s Body is a Cultural Body . Claudette is
torn between two worlds and she has to learn how to successfully move between the
two cultures . Through Cohen s theses, Karen Russell uses character development
and dialogue to depict the inner and outer battle of societal femininity and
individualized femininity and the consequence of accepting either side. The presence
of monsters are essential for this acceptance.
To build the gate of difference , Russell makes Claudette resistant to the culture
change. This

The Mystery Of Mystery By Agatha Christie
INTRODUCTION And Then There Were None, written by Agatha Christie in
1939, remains one of the best mystery novels ever created to this day. During her
time, mystery was an established genre for novels. Famous mystery writers like
Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle developed the mystery genre by
following the rules when writing their stories. In a typical mystery novel, the story
would be told by a detective. The story would then go on as the detective tries to
solve the case. More clues would be found and it would get clearer as the story gets
further. At the end, we would know who the culprit was and every mysterious
event that took place in the story would be explained. These novels give the
readers a chance to solve the case. Despite the mystery genre having some certain
rules by it, Christie broke some of these rules when writing some of her books. I
want to investigate specifically the ways in which Christie wrote this book
differently and to explore how and why she broke the rules of the detective genre.
Christie developed And Then There Were None without having a detective solving
the case. In the end, the law never has the chance to get their hands on the murderer.
The way Christie constructs the plot also makes it impossible for the readers to
guess who the murderer was, especially from ten characters that have each of their
own motives to kill the other nine. Although rules were broken, And Then There
Were None became one of the most critically acclaimed
Academic Achievement And Advancement For Students
Educators and school administrators have the largest responsibility of promoting
academic achievement and advancement for all students, regardless of their cultural
background. Throughout the United States, schools enroll students with different
academic levels and cultural backgrounds. As of 2011, African Americanchildren
embodied 16% of the public schoolpopulation in the United Statesand Muslim
children, less than 3% (National Center for Education Statistics). Keeping this in
mind, students from cultural minorities can be at risk of academic failure due to the
environment they are raised in. As schools educate such a vast array of students, it is
crucial that educators and support staff be competent in working with a diverse group
of students. School counselors, personnel, and educators need to be able to
collaborate with students in helping them reach their potential in academics, social
skills, future planning, as well as mental health concerns (NCES, 2009). It is
imperative that school counselors are informed and understand the cultural values
and beliefs of minority groups in order to help students achieve academic and
personal success.
Discussion
Schools within the United States are progressively becoming more culturally diverse.
Because of this, it is critical that educators and school personnel are aware of the
difficulties and types of support individual students from diverse cultural backgrounds
may need. Research has shown that minority groups are

Conflicting Parties Case Study Analysis
When working in tight quarters, there are countless ways of unintentionally impeding
on a colleague s work habits. Due to a shared office, Brian and Jon are no exception.
While striving to complete work tasks through the means each is comfortable with
and accustom to, each individual s work style habits imposes on the other s.
Unfortunately due to space limitations, separating Brian and Jon to two separate
offices is not a possibility. However, through thoughtful conflict resolution, Brian and
Jon can negotiate the means to more forward working together, without continuing to
distract the other with their own work style.
Conflict Resolution In broad terms, conflict resolution refers to the process two or
more individuals utilize in order to reach an agreement to a dispute or debate (Miall,
Ramsbotham Woodhouse, 1999). While there are many specific components to
conflict resolution, the application of each facet is strongly tied to the specifics of
each individual conflict. In the case of Brian and Jon s office space conflict, the pair
should examine the relevant concepts of fractionation, framing, reframing, and
common ground. Ultimately, if the two colleague s cannot reach an agreement(s) on
how to move forward working together, mediation can be utilized as a last resort.
Fractionation
As one of the many components of conflict resolution, fractionation is a concept
which should be utilized early in the conflict resolution
Kant s Philosophy on the Metaphysical World Explained in...
In the Critique of Pure Reason, philosopher Immanuel Kant aims to thoroughly
explain his philosophy of the metaphysical world. Within the Transcendental
Aesthetic, Kant focuses on confirming that space and time are a priori intuitions. He
provides reasoning and arguments as to why they are transcendentally ideal but
empirically real, making space and time subjectively necessary for experiences.
Simultaneously, Kant distinguishes space and time from secondary qualities, which
belong to our senses through experience, by confirming that unlike space and time,
secondary qualities are not empirically real. Kant does run into conflicts with his
theory, he still successfully claims that space and time are transcendentally ideal but
empirically real, as well as distinguish them from secondary qualities by supporting
his theories with reasoning. Kant s theory of transcendental idealism states that
human beings only experience appearances and not things in themselves (Rohlf).
Space and time are transcendentally ideal because they allow us to perceive things in
themselves. This means that space and time are only forms in which properties of
objects appear and not properties of things in themselves. Therefore, space and time
are not self subsistent and nor are they substances that have properties. Kant draws
two conclusions for space and three conclusions for time. In conclusion (a), Kant
states that space and time do not have properties of things in themselves (A26/B42).

Comparison of Two Films About King Arthur Essay
Few works of literature or legend are as varied as that of King Arthur and his round
table, forever retold by each generation. Without question, the defining work of
Arthurian Literature is Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur. Morte d Arthur is a
compilation of all the King Arthur legends that existed before Malory. Malory tried
to bring all the stories together into one cohesive whole. Morte d Arthur is a trove of
stories about magical encounters and various quests that is loosely centered on the
rise and fall of King Arthur.
Since it was written, there have been countless interpretations and adaptations. Today,
we not only have countless Arthurian books, but many movies on the subject as well.

Whoever wields the sword, wields England. It is a symbol of the King s union with
the land, the main point of the film. L etat c est moi, Arthur and the land are one.
In the film, the sword is first given to Uther, who then becomes King. Besides for
this, the story of Uther and Igraine is straight out of Malory. Uther starts a war with
the Duke of Cornwall because Uther so openly desires Cornwall s wife, Igraine.
Merlin agrees to give Uther the semblance of Cornwall so Uther can sleep with
Igraine. In exchange for this service, the baby that will come from the adulterous
union will be given to Merlin. An addition of the film is that before Uther walks
into the castle as Cornwall, little Morganna has a vision that her father has died.
When Uther comes into the room where Morganna and Igraine are, Morganna
knows who he really is. Later on in the story, little Morganna watches as Merlin
takes baby Arthur away. These scenes work to develop the character of Morganna
and explain why she becomes such a hateful creature
When Uther dies, he thrusts the sword into a stone to prevent his enemies from
obtaining it and using it to claim the throne of England. Whoever pulls the sword
from the stone will be king. The land is then plunged into chaos as various kings and
knights fight for the throne of England. The scene where Arthur pulls the sword from
the stone is almost exactly as it is in Malory. When Kay goes to

Women Are Living Longer Than Men
Women are living longer than men but is there a widening gap of health outcomes
between men and women? Can this gender gap in mortality/morbidity effects be
explained by the gender paradox? This essay will analyze whether the gender
paradox can explain the health outcomes of men and women and what the causes of
the genderparadox are exactly. The gender paradox theorizes that men are more
likely to die earlier compared to women, however women report higher morbidity
levels and indicate diminished quality of life over men (Rieker et. al 2005)(Arber
et. al 1999)(Macintyre et. al 1996). Researchers state the reasons for the gender gap
could be the larger population of women compared to men, gender differencesin
cardiovascular diseases and immune function and disorders, gender differences in
mental health issues, and age related diseases that impact their health and are the
leading age adjusted causes of death for men and women (Rieker et. al 2005)
(Gurung 2010). The paradox has been questioned in recent years suggesting there are
smaller indications of the gender disparities in health relative to mortality and
morbidity in both genders (Macintyre et. al 1996)
Although cardiovascular diseases have a greater prevalence in men, a majority of
women die of the disease because of their superior life expectancy and the range of
CVD risk factors from aging. The gender difference in years lived with the
cardiovascular disease is seen in greater cases of women than years of life
Analysis Of The Masthead Of Total Guitar
ront Cover
Firstly, Mastheads are found on the covers of all magazines. Conventionally, this
masthead will be somewhat related to music amore specifically, the genre of music
that the magazine appeals to. For example, the masthead of total guitar clearly states
that the magazine will solely feature guitar based music. I have named my magazine
unplugged , this clearly relates to an acoustic style of music as acoustic performances
are often described as unplugged. My masthead does what it is conventionally meant
to do, give an immediate insight into that magazine.
Secondly, the positioning of my title is in the middle of the page as unplugged is a
reasonably long word. This follows the conventions set by magazines like billboard or

Whereas Kerrang may use worn down effects front page features, the features on my
front page are very simple to represent the simple nature of acoustic music.
My cover lines are short but punchy containing ultimately, what the audience wants to
see. For this I have used artist s names. This is extremely common in existing music
magazines, their most important content concerns existing artists. Also following
conventions, my artist s names are much larger than any additional information
underneath. Additionally, my all important cover story is shown in the largest font on
the page other that the masthead. This immediately grabs the audience s attention
and encourages them to find out more.
Another feature of my front page that aims to attract attention is a competition, the
sticker with Win inside demands attention without being too obvious as to what the
competition involves, this encourages the audience to read inside. This is
conventional in all music magazines as a way of attracting more potential customers
towards the magazine.
Conventionally, although selling the magazine, the front cover doesn t give away too
much about the content of the magazine. Cover lines are typically vague and may
use rhetorical questions or quotes to attract attention. This method again encourages
people to buy the magazine and read it. I have done this on my own front page with a
rhetorical question. My front page is also jam packed with information, as you would

Evite De Peron Analysis
Arguably the most politically controversial and influential women in Argentine
history, and Spiritual Leader of the nation, Maria Eva Duarte de Peron (1919
1952) and much of the history of her life is subject to substantial bias due to a
myriad of anti Peronist propaganda during the Peron s regime, as Marysa Navarro
states you were either for her, or against her . Although there is a consensus to a
monumental sum of the facts apropos to Eva Peron s life, the subject of discourse is
rather in the interpretations and perceptions of her life, such as her reasons for the
creation of the Eva Peron Foundation, how she came the her prominence, and her
purpose and goals. The orthodox view of Eva was formed directly after her death and
entails an image of promiscuity, manipulation, greed, and hunger for power and
revenge. However, towards the end of the twentieth century, revisionists refined this
interpretation, diminishing the negative portrayal; creating a less biased presentation.
The orthodox interpretation may be accredited to the Argentinian historian and author

however, must be read and analysed with substantial scepticism and vigilance.
Keeping in mind that Main was born to an upper class family in Argentina, it is likely
that this influenced her perception of Eva before she began writing her book. This
is due to the Eva Peron Foundation, through which Eva and Juan taxed many of the
luxuries only available to the middle and upper classes of Argentinian society, also
known as the oligarchy. This inevitably caused substantial resentment for the socialist
views of the Peronist movement and its leaders, Juan and Eva. Additionally, it is
likely that this is also the cause of Mains extreme criticism of the Eva Peron
Foundation and her targeting of Eva, deeming her as promiscuous as an attempt to of
Tone Of Howl By Allen Ginsberg
Allen Ginsberg in his work, Howl tries to present a social commentary and a
revolution. Allen presents the struggle of the time when social pressures were
quickly building up, and a revolution was necessary which would free people from
all forms of oppression. Allen presents his experiences which is an encounter with
his friend whom he met in a mental institution. Allen uses several literary
techniques to present the insanities in life and how people continue to struggle
with it in life which ends up in tragedies and cries. Throughout the poem, Allen
uses an elegiac tone which is a tone of mourning. From the very first line, the
reader is prepared for what will follow in the subsequent lines and stanzas. In the
first line, Allen says he is outraged, and that is why is crying out to the world to
stop the destruction of a generation. In general, Allen is crying about the
oppression and subjugation in the society. The speaker in the poem appears to be
smart. The speaker s words do not come out in a proper order which makes the
reader imagine that he was from a long sleep and he has been awakened by the
reality of things and he wants us to join him through his lane and tell us what he
saw. The speaker does not use proper English, and there is a lot of syntax in the
verses which help the reader in understanding that the person speaking is drugged or
has some mental illness. For Allen, he embodies the mental illness of his friend he is

Reproductive Rights
Introduction
There is a time bomb that is ready to go off, possibly within our lifetime; this device
is constructed not by terrorist but by an ever increasing world population. In an effort
to combat its own population problem, China has promoted policies with the intent of
slowing down the growth rate of that nation s approximately 1.3 billion people. The
population policies that are be ing adopted raise fundamental issues concerning
human rights. Does a government have the right to place limits on the size of the

Conclusion
China s official policy concerning the size of the family by its mere existence is a
viola tion of basic human rights an human reproductive rights that been reaffirmed
throughout human history and is becoming an international norm. Furthermore, it is
unlikely that China s official policy regarding family size will go away; more than
likely the current policy will be replaced by another of similar content.
Authors Final Thoughts
I have seen firsthand the effects of China s, One Child policy. I was in China over
the summer of 2015 attending a summer camp sponsored by the Confucius Institute
at CCD on the campus of The University of Jinan. I encountered with a lot of
students my age and I noticed that the majority of them are an only child with an
exception of one who had two other siblings; meaning that the family had to pay the
government for two extra children. The students and I were talking about our
families and I mentioned that I have three other siblings and their reaction was that of

The Freedom Of Speech
As an incoming freshman at Dartmouth, I know little about the campus from where
the best late night snacks are to what people tend to do on the weekends. But I do
know why I chose Dartmouth. It is strongly focused on both the arts and sciences,
and above all, on community (where perhaps green transcends even red and blue).
Dartmouth alumni, faculty, and current students alike are exuberant to share their
experiences with the university. College is one of the most diverse communities that
an individual will be a part of. It s only natural that you ll become friends with people
completely different than yourself. Thus, I hope to find the following statement to be
true: at Dartmouth, differences are embraced and ideas are challenged.
Yet, like many other college campuses across the nation, the freedom of expression is
a matter of debate at Dartmouth. The freedom of speech is a fundamental right and
basis for any democracy. So, why is it an issue of such controversy?
To begin with, it is no secret that today s current political landscape is polarized.
One does not have to look beyond the echo chambers of our Facebook feeds and
our daily newsletters to see how ideologies influence facts. America s political
parties are growing stronger. This is dangerous largely because us is becoming us
vs. them . We are not only divided in our political beliefs but in our daily lives.

The government during this period of time created a lot of government programs

America were 22.5%, but by the end of the 60s the poverty in America went down
to 11.1% because of all the programs. On July 30, 1965 President Lyndon B.

Privatization Reform During Latin America
Conclusion
Since the 1980s, transnational actors have disseminated ideas of education
privatization throughout Latin America. Although by similar means, these policy
ideas arrived at different historical moments at Chile and Argentina. Privatization
ideas made its way in Chile carried by the influential Chicago boys, during the critical
juncture of the authoritarian regime. The market based reform served the interests of
the military regime, and faced very little resistance given the repression and
dismantling of the teacher union, and the penetration of the economic logic in the
Ministry of Education. Timing, carriers and weak opposition allowed a complete
replacement of the domestic education policy. Later in democracy, state oriented
education bureaucrats were not able to reverse the policy change. Although they tried
to build on the inherited model and use the state as a way to correct the failures of the
education market, the inconsistency between their goals and their means ended up
reproducing and strengthening the privatized model.
By contrast in Argentina, the economic perspective arrived timidly and late when the
country was making its transition to democracy. The resistance of the teacher union
and provincial governments towards fiscal decentralization, and the reluctance of the
ministry of education to market based reforms, refrained the government from
proposing explicit privatization instruments such as vouchers. Instead, the
government gradually changed
Albert Bandura Social Cognitive Theory
ALBERT BANDURA S SOCIAL COGNITIVE
INTRODUCTION
Bandura s social cognitive theory highlighted the importance of observing and
modeling the behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others. Albert Bandura
developed this theory which was influenced by social behavior theories. This is
because he believed that learning theories in vogue at that time and resulted in
incomplete explanations of the acquisition and performance of prosocial and deviant
behavior (Schunk, 2000). According to Nevid (2009), social cognitive theory
proposes that individuals do not simply respond to environmental influences, but
rather they actively seek and interpret information. Children observe the people
around them behaving in various ways as illustrated during the famous bobo doll
experiment (Bandura, 1961 as cited by McLeod, 2011). When children learn, they
have their own aim or motive such as solve a problem, finish their homework or
complete some experiments. With these aim to accomplish, they observe, judge and
react to their perceived progress. As what Schunk (2000) had cited Bandura (1986),

First, usually children are likely to mimic or imitate those people it perceives as
similar to itself or when they think if they imitate the model, they can succeed in
accomplishing something. Then, the people around them will give respond or
feedback to the behavior they imitate with either reinforcement or punishment. If a
child imitates a model s behavior and the consequences are rewarding, the child is
likely to continue performing the behavior and vice versa. Children will also take
into account of what happens to other people when they decide whether or not to
copy someone s actions. Some applications of this social learning theory that teachers
can apply in the classroom learning and teaching are teacher as a role model for
students, choices of teaching materials, controlled drilling activity in classroom and

Changing Voting Restrictions
Have you ever felt like the government is trying to take away your voice? Well if
you allow them to take away your right to vote with new restrictions on who can or
can not vote then that is what they are basically doing. It would be taking away the
already small voice you have in your governmental system. If they were to change the
requirements then it would cause mass confusion of electionday, it would be erasing
what some people fought for to earn the right to vote, and the votingrate is low
enough.
One of the main reasons why we should not change the voting restrictions it that it
would cause mass confusion when it came to election day. Election day is already
heptic enough when it comes time for the american people to vote for their next
commander in chief. It would just add on to the craiz and confusion if people went
to go vote and was not allowed to because of a new type of restriction out that they
did not know of. For example, during the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and
Donald Trump there were 14 different states that had new voting laws. One of the 14
states that changed their voting laws was Connecticut. When election day came
around people that were working the polls in Connecticut was improperly insisting

For example, in 1807 women and black men were not allowed to vote in any state.
It was not until 1870 when congress finally passed the 15th amendment allowing
any male can vote, but women were not allowed to vote until the 1918 s. If we had
more restrictions then it would be like we went back in time when certain people
did not have the right to vote. ( History of Voting Rights ) The last reason why we
should not have any more voting restrictions is because we already have a low
voting rate as it is. If we had any more requirements than the voting rate would be

Technology
5 crazy technologies that could be available by 2025 ( removed HTML )
Over the past couple of decades technology has grown in leaps and bounds. We ve
gone from clunky computers and dial up internet to a computer the size of a phone
and 3G internet. We ve made incredible medical advances, and we re finally also
starting to use our technology to better help our planet, but there s still so much to
create, discover, and learn about. Here are some crazy technologies that could be
available by 2025.
1. Widespread use of solar panels
Alternative energy is a huge area of contention for a lot of people. The world
currently relies so heavily on fossil fuels that switching to other forms of energy
means that many people will lose jobs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That will change in the coming years as more people buy electric cars and pressure
is put on cities to create more spots for charging. On top of electric cars, however,
we will also have 3D printed ones. Audi has already created their own 3D printed
mini car, but Local Motors is taking orders for their full sized 3D printed car. There
are two different versions of the car that you can get. One is called the Reload
Swim (which is the more regular looking car) and the other is the Reload Sport
(which is the sports car version). These cars will also be electric. Imagine a future
where your car doesn t harm the environment or create air pollution. It could be a
whole new world.

3. Everything connected to the internet
If you think that everything is connected to the internet already, just wait until 2025.
By 2025, estimates are that there will be over a trillion different sensors connected
to the internet. This will take the form of clothes and other wearable tech for
instance. Approximately about 10% of people by 2022 will be wearing clothing that
connects to the internet. Other things like your home will go online. You can already
view your security cameras and change your thermostat using different apps, but with
voice technology like Alexa from Amazon you ll do all that and so much more
Textual Analysis Of Troy
Troy is clearly the protagonist. He s likable and complex. He s the type of
character that feels like he can attract talent, given his range of emotion and his
deep, psychological need and inner struggle. Troy s choices to find his biological
family and give Gigi a ride move the story forward. Troy has a solid external goal
and he s driven by his inner, emotional need to find out about his biological parents
and connect. It s a solid goal and objective. The stakes are personal. Troy is well
established as being obsessive compulsive. He has a fear of germs. The story really
never fully addresses or resolves this. There are several great scenes that highlight his
behavior through action and great visual storytelling, but there s no resolution....

Clarify the backstory about Gigi (how she died, how baby was given up). Clarify
more effectively how the idea of doppelgangers and parallel worlds help Troy
come to resolve his identity and family issues. While the connection between the
origin of the universe and the origin of Troy are well linked, at the end one doesn t
really understand how Troy meeting his double Yuseff really impacts him or helps
him solve his inner conflict or feeling or belonging. Reconsider the title it doesn t
do justice for the script. Overall, a creative and imaginative script with a very
unique voice, but at the same time, it s ambitious and left up to interpretation. It s not
always an easy script to follow or

Effect of Temperature on Rate of Reaction of Catalase
Introduction
This investigation was in an attempt to try to find out how varying the temperature
can affect an enzyme. The enzyme used was catalase which breaks down Hydrogen
Peroxide, this gives off water and oxygen as effervescence. This effervescence is
what is used to measure the reaction rate of the catalase. The optimal heat for enzyme
activity is proven to be 37oC as anything above this denatures the enzyme. Denaturing
is where the heat energy of breaks down the di sulphide, ionic and hydrogen bonds
that hold the tertiary structure together, this in turn changes the shape of the active
site and so halts any reactions that the enzyme ... Show more content on

This is why the reaction rate rose with the temperature, however after a certain point
(40oC), the enzymes were becoming denatured and this caused them to become
useless which is why the reaction slowed to a halt after this temperature.
This was a poor experiment because:
The potato chips were very hard to get exactly the same. This inaccuracy caused
the surface area to differ between chips, which means that a small linear error will
make a big surface area error. To counter this, a machine should be used to cut the
chips to a preset size and would be very accurate. Measuring effervescence was
very inaccurate. The Bubbles tended to burst when they were made which caused
the overall amount of bubbles to be inaccurate. To prevent this, a syringe could be
used or the gas bubbled up through water to get an accurate measure of the amount
produced. The temperature of the potato chip when it was placed into the substrate,
this means that the enzymes may still be working while they are being heated to the
desired temperature, so if the temperature was 80oC then the enzyme may work
hard for the first minute or so because the potato is still heating up when in fact
80oC SHOULD cause the enzyme activity to become nil. This probably accounted
for some anomalies we received after doing this
Hammurabi Code
the code of Hammurabi was a codified set of laws enacted by the sixth Babylonian
kingHammurabi. The codes addressed many issues and crimes of the day. These
codes consistedof two hundred and eighty two codes with scaled punishment. One
translated phrase from thecodes is still stated today. An eye for an eye, a tooth for
a tooth this comes from code numberone hundred and ninety six. If a man destroy the
eye of another man, they shall destroy hiseye. If one break a man s bone, they shall
break his bone. If one destroy the eye of a freeman orbreak the bone of a freeman he
shall pay one gold mina. If one destroy the eye of a man s slaveor break a bone of a
man s slave he shall pay one half his price. The codes were based onHammurabi s

If tenants do not provide harvest, they must prove the reason that they did not.If
they cannot prove the reasoning they are forced to pay the price of the harvest

could be sold into slavery.Trade was regulated a large amount of well. Theft was
considered a serious offence and ifproven resulted in death. Slavery was covered in
an economic sense. A slaves was addressedas property. Slave rights were neglected
entirely, however, slave owner rights were fullyprotected. Their value was covered
in the same fashion as trade and property. Liability wascovered in in an economic
sense. If one s negligence cost other s money, the negligent personhad to reimburse
those effected. Trade was regulated with contractual obligations. If somethingis
given to another it must be witnessed and a receipt given. Trade was a major source
of theeconomy and as such was regulated to ensure the system was safe from
collapse. TheMesopotamian area was supported with trade, so if trade were to fail
so would the state as awhole. In Mesopotamia social status was a major factor of life.
The code of Hammurabi reflectsthis aspect as well. Punishments under these codes
had a pay scale that varied based uponclass. If a crime was committed against an
upper class citizen the consequence was vastlygreater than if the same law was
violated against a free commoner. This distinction applies tomost laws, ranging
from physical harm to theft. The states authority to regulate citizen s private lives
shows the authority and power theBabylonian governments wielded. The laws
enforced a sense of morality and enforced legaldistinctions of classes. The
enforcement of morality served to create order even as the rights oflower class and
women were being repressed. Combined with taxation, a barrier was created tokeep
classes separated and unable to leave the social status one is prescribed. The

The Qualities of the Houyhnhnm’s Civilization in...
In part 4 of Gulliver s Travels, Gulliver is abandoned on an island by his crew. As
Gulliver begins to explore his surroundings, a group of savages attack him. These
savages appear to be human, however they behave like wild animals. Gulliver is
rescued by a couple of horses. The horses are called Houyhnhnms are rational
creatures which are capable of speech and thought. The horses refer to these human
like creatures as Yahoos and treat them as wild animals incapable of reasoning.
Gulliver is very surprised how the Houyhnhnms speak to each other, while the
Houyhnhnms are equally surprised at the appearance and behavior of Gulliver. The
horses lead Gulliver back to their base where they proceed to find out more about
him. Gulliver also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gulliver points out flaws in the justice system. Gulliver fails to point out the
necessity of laws in human society and dwells on abuses of the legal system.
Gulliver describes many problems in humanity. His master gives examples of how the
Yahoos of his land acted similar to the humans. Gulliver shows how immoral
humanity is.
The Houyhnhnms are different from humans in several important ways. The horses
seem to lack passions specifically love and compassion. The horses make up for
their lack of emotions with industry and temperance. They try to encourage the
cultivation of reason. There are a few similarities in the order of societies between
the horses and Gulliver s people. An example of this is the general assembly where
the horses meet. It is a representative council which takes place every four years. This
council was created to keep balance in the Houyhnhnms society. This council is very
similar to the British parliament which was created for the same purpose, however
parliament rarely has unanimous consent on any matter unlike the Houyhnhnms
council. The Houyhnhnms have no written language. Therefore their knowledge is
passed down orally.
The Houyhnhnms are virtuous, united and governed by reason. They have almost no
emotions. They don t express sorrow when one of them dies. After spending a long
time with the Houyhnhnms, Gulliver grows very fond of their culture and lifestyle.
He becomes more virtuous and wise during his visit. Gulliver
Common Propositional Argument Evaluation
On pages 164 175, we learn over the 8 common propositional argument evaluations.
Every argument must be valid in order to pass the Proper Form Test. In the cases
of fallacies, not every premise will support the conclusion making that argument
invalid. The first argument we see is Denying the Disjunct, which involves two
statements, in two forms, which can be explained through four forms. The first
form is If S1 or S2, not S1, therefore S2 (pg. 164). The second form is If S1 or S2,
Tf S1 (pg.164). This means that if the premise denies the disjunct, then the conclusion
is false. We see this form because a disjunct is when a premise denies the conclusion.
The second argumentwe see is the Fallacy of Affirming the inclusive Disjunct,...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a disjunction is false, because of the alternatives presented then it is considered a
false dichotomy. (pg.168). We are now presented with Affirming the Antecedent,
whose form is If S1, then S2, S1, tf, S2 (Pg.170). This is shown because if the first
statement affirms or supports the second statement, then it affirms the antecedent.
The statements do not contradict or deny each other. The next argument we see is
the Fallacy: Denying the antecedent, which is when premise is conditional, but it
denies the antecedent. The antecedent is the part of the statement we learned
through facts of background knowledge, but if S1 denies S2, then the argument as
a whole is invalid (pg.172). Denying the Consequent is not a fallacy, but it occurs
when one premise is conditional, but it denies the consequent. Because the
consequent is denied, then we know that the conclusion is denied as well. (pg.173).
The form is If S1, then S2, not S2, therefore, not S1. (pg.173) We know this through
the proper form and true premise test, because the form indicates that it is invalid
and the premises are false, so it fails the true premise test. The last argument we see
is Tri Conditional. This argument differs from the other arguments, because we are
now using three statements to confirm if the premise are true. The form is If S1,
then S2, If S2, then S3, therefore If S1,
Allison Mickelson Eye Contact
In my opinion, Eye Contact deserves 3.5 out of 5 stars. The film was not as scary
as it could have been. It would have been scarier if rather than using a shadow as
the fear factor, a man was used. The shadow was implied to be a figure of a man,
but it would have been more suspenseful if the shadow had more developed features.
In the film, Allison Mickelson, the runner, was being followed by a mysterious
shadow. The shadow was always present each time she turned around to peek, and
the shadow followed her all the way home. When she arrived home she frantically
called 911. While calling, the shadow entered her home and she dropped the phone
mid call. The film maker was successful in creating suspense but not so much making

Thomas Galludet Research Paper
Thomas Galludet Thomas Galludet is one of if not the most recognizable name in
American sign language communities. He is a huge part of Deaf culture and
education in America. Thomas Galludet has an interesting story about what led to
this hearing man to become such a champion for the Deaf community and why he is
so well remembered today.
In 1814 when a young Thomas was visiting his family, he noticed a young girl with
no friends. When he went to speak to her about why she wasn t playing with
anyone, he learned she was Deaf and had no way of communicating. Thomas taught
her to spell an object he would point to, and she was delighted. This made Thomas
so happy, he decided he wanted to teach her and others more effectively. The young
girl s parents financed a trip for Thomas to travel to Europe since there were no Deaf
schools in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The British school for Deaf would not teach him. So Thomas traveled to France to
learn at the Royal Institution for Deaf. Here he met a wonderful teacher named
Laurent Clerc who taught him French sign language. Galludet was so impressed
with his teacher, he asked if Clerc would come back to America with him to open a
Deaf school.
Galludet and Clerc opened America s first school for the Deaf. They both had
successful careers teaching many Deaf children and adults. Galludet eventually
married one of his students and had eight children. One of his sons was Edward
Galludet who became the first headmaster of America s first ever college for the
Deaf that was later named after his father; Galludet University in Washington D.C.
Thomas Galludet made great strides for Deaf education in America and will always
be remembered for
Sciatic Nerve Research Paper
The sciatic nerve is the one of the largest nerves in the human body. It is the major
nerve of the lower limb and its approximately 2 cm wide (Savastrano). The sciatic
nerve originates in the nerve roots of L4 S3, which begins in the lower back. The
nerve then branches off down to the gluteal region and then down to the lower limb.
One of its main functions is supply a pathway that provides a connection to the
nervous systemfor all the sensory input that comes from the skin and muscles of the
leg. The sciatic nervecomes from a formation of nerves called the lumbosacral
plexus. This formation of nerves is made of anterior divisions of the lumbar, sacral
and coccygeal nerves. As the nerve travels down to the pelvic area it divides into two
nerve branches the tibial nerve and the common peroneal nerve. When patients under

These complications can cause nerve paralysis, which is treated by the removal of
fragments of substance form the surgical procedure. To get the nerve to regenerate
from the damage suffered during surgery doctors can place oxidized regenerated
cellulose around the nerve (Ikeda). There is a need to find other ways to increase
the regeneration capabilities of the sciatic nerves. Injuries to the sciatic nerve can
cause complete or incomplete los of motor, sensory and autonomic function due to
degeneration (Sun Zhao). Nerve growth factor (NGF) is essential for the
stimulation of peripheral nerve regeneration. More specifically NGF is a
neuropeptide that function to regulate growth, maintenance and proliferation of
neurons. These factors all led to the to NGF helping with the repair of injured
nerves. When NGF is given to patients in a solution the solution is rapidly diffused
and not able to be absorbed by the damaged nerves for an adequate amount of time. In
order to get NGF to be retained longer in the nerve researchers hope to develop a way

Arguement Essay.pdf

  • 1. Arguement Essay Crafting an argument essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between persuasion, logic, and eloquence. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a coherent and compelling argument but also in navigating the vast sea of information, opinions, and counterarguments that surround any given topic. Firstly, one must meticulously research the subject, delving into various perspectives to gain a comprehensive understanding. This involves sifting through academic articles, reputable sources, and contrasting viewpoints to build a robust foundation for the argument. The process demands time, patience, and discernment to filter out biased information and hone in on credible evidence. Next comes the intricate task of structuring the essay. An effective argumentative essay demands a clear introduction, a well-organized body, and a powerful conclusion. Ensuring that each paragraph seamlessly connects to the next, maintaining a logical flow, is an art in itself. Properly integrating evidence and examples to support the claims adds an additional layer of complexity. The challenge intensifies when addressing counterarguments. A well-rounded argument essay anticipates opposing views and strategically refutes them, strengthening the overall position. This requires a nuanced understanding of the topic and the ability to engage with alternative perspectives without compromising the coherence of the central argument. Moreover, striking the right tone is crucial. Balancing assertiveness with respectfulness is a delicate task, as a tone too aggressive may alienate the reader, while one too passive may undermine the persuasiveness of the argument. In conclusion, writing an argument essay demands a skillful blend of research, critical thinking, and effective communication. It's an intellectual journey that challenges one's ability to analyze, synthesize, and present information persuasively. As daunting as it may seem, mastering the art of the argumentative essay is a rewarding endeavor that sharpens not only one's writing skills but also the ability to navigate complex ideas. • 5. Examples Of Wrongful Convictions However, it is not always the case that a confession is the end of a case, as there is always the chance that it was in fact a false confession. This is not something people usually suspect, as was mentioned previously that people assume no reasonable person would admit to guilt if they were innocent. Often times the false confession comes about through coercion and the tactics of policeattempting to obtain a confession no matter if it is accurate or not. There is a vast array of options for police in trying to obtain a confession from a party that they feel is guilty believing that the prospect of an accurate confession outweighs the possibility of obtaining a false one. It is very common for an officer to simply lie to a suspect who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In come cases it does occur that the error in the conviction is caught and the person who was wrongfully convicted gets the charges against them dropped and they are released from whatever form of punishment the courts deemed acceptable however even so, the convicted has often spent over 10 years in prison, or was executed by the state. More often than not, wrongful convictions go undetected and this leaves researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine the causes of wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been uncovered. From the first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being wrongfully punished (whether that be community service, to incarceration, to being put on death row) many factors go into the process of a person being wrongfully accused of criminal activity. This paper theorizes that some of them main causes of a person being wrongfully convicted include the suspect giving false confession typically under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being erroneously gathered and/or presented for court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness testimony against the accused. These three causes, working either in cohesion or separately all contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction in the criminal justice system. On the surface, studying and examining the causes of wrongful conviction is important so that we can be informed and thus attempt to avoid these causes. However, the benefit of the examination of these causes foes deeper than that. By examining the causes of wrongful conviction one can attempt to disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow for such errors or misuses of power to exist in the first place. By doing this a person can then critically examine the criminal justice system which could lead to taking the necessary next steps in essential
  • 6. Ambiguity In A Clean Well Lighted Place A Solace for the Lonely On stressful evenings people often find themselves walking in circles hunting for an escape; as seen in Ernest Hemingway s, A Clean, Well Lighted Place , which exemplifies the life of an old man and two waiters. The old man is doing exactly what most people do when they have reached rock bottom. He is hunting for peace in his life and has decided to find such solace drinking in a local cafГ©. The little cafГ© in the short storysymbolizes a safe zone for people who feel unwanted, alone, and in despair. Hemingway uses the younger waiter as a foil for the older waiter to emphasize the opposing personalities and beliefs of the waiters. The ambiguity in the dialog between the two waiters evolved into a scandal relating to reproductions of the short story. The cafГ© is the only solace for the older waiter and all those who need a light for the night (Page 145). They yearn for a place to feel wanted and not be alone. The younger waiter does not understand the need for a clean and pleasant cafГ©, so he tells the old man, Hombre, there are bodegas open all night long (145). As the older waiter would agree, bars have a different ambiance than cafГ©s. CafГ©s are nice, quiet, and quaint establishments where one can relax and forget their troubles. The older waiter states, It is necessary that the place be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music (146). Bars usually provide music for their... The boards are subjected to a final electrical test to check the integrity of the circuits. Another 5% of the boards are found to be defective during this stage. Before the tests are done, a setup is needed. The capacity for final testing is computed as follows. Overall, there is an apparent disparity between the capacities of each of the operation processes. The output from the different stages ranges from 900 to as much as 1,800 boards. It is seen that the bottleneck in the whole manufacturing of circuit boards is in the part that has the lowest capacity, and incidentally, located in the earliest part of the production process В– the cleaning and coating machines. This means that the maximum number of circuit boards that will be finished by the end of the day is 900. From the finished boards, there is a historical defect rate of 20%, thereby leaving a total of only 720 boards that are ready for packing and shipping to the customer. It is therefore apparent that CBF is manufacturing very inefficiently, as they 280 circuit boards short of the required output per shift of 1,000 units. 4.What is the impact of losses in the process in Inspection and Final Test? It is said in the case that due to the losses in the system , CBF created a policy to increase the size of an order to give way to rejected boards. The company has to make allowances in production

As professor Powell discussed at the MET art museum trip, the venetians essentially gave up fresco in the late 15th century because Venice is a series of islands and it was really a bad atmosphere for fresco. In the 1500s this early technique of glazing that we see in the art of Raphael changes from fresco painting later in the 1500s, the artists like Raphael exploit what oil can do and the way that oil can allow for a very different kind of process This process allows artists to change things on the fly, freeing them from being slaves to the original drawings. Madonna and Child is a good example of that. This idea of the artistic process directly on the canvas itself and working out your ideas having them evolve right in that same place where the finished painting will eventually be is something that s unique to the possibilities of oil paint. Abstract Oxytocin (OT) has been studied extensively over the past 60 years, and in the past 10 years, there has been a dramatic rise in research due to interest in the many functions of oxytocin. Through biological mechanisms involving oxytocin, pair bonding, as well as mother infant relationships are better understood. The intent of this paper is to establish the correlation between pair bonding and mother infant relationships and oxytocin. Primate oxytocin research provides groundwork for human research, and provides greater understanding of human social behavior. Oxytocin (OT) is a neuropeptide that consists of 9 amino acids. Oxytocin is synthesized in the hypothalamus, and stored in the posterior pituitary where, under specific circumstances it is delivered to various regions of the brain including the hypothalamus, hippocampus amygdala, and nucleus accombens. Functions of oxytocin vary depending upon the location of delivery within the brain, as well as quantity and circumstance (Ishak, Kahloon, Fakhry, 2011). Oxytocin has been gaining the attention of many researchers over the past 60 years due to its behavioral implications. The body of previous research establishes that the peptide is vital to many aspects of social behavior from maternal care to social behavior. Oxytocin was first identified in its effect in child birth. Oxytocin promotes uterine contractions during labor and has been used extensively to induce labor (Nathanielsz, 1998).

The original story focuses on a young lion who spirits into a self imposed exile after believing he was at fault for his father s death. In order to examine The Lion King, I will employ The Hero s Journey established by Joseph Campbell s book The Hero with a Thousand Faces . There are twelve stages in the Hero s Journey, but I will only discuss four tendencies due to time restraint. In addition, it will also answer the research question, Does the Lion King s use of the Hero s Journey push an agenda towards adults of previous life experiences that are noteworthy, while still maintaining young children as the target audience ? We will first outline Joseph Campbell s The Hero s Journey, then apply the model to The Lion King, and finally discuss three implications, spiritual, environmental, and cinematic, from the analysis. Joseph Campbell s model includes twelve stages. Respectively in order, the stages are Ordinary World, call to Adventure, Refusal of the Call, Meeting the Mentor, Crossing the Threshold, Test, Allies, Enemies , Approach to the Inmost Cave, the Supreme Ordeal, Reward, the Road Back, Resurrection, and the Return with the Elixir. Plato And Nausea Comparison Throughout, Jean Paul Sartre s, Nausea, and Plato s, Alcibiades, the main characters in each of the books go through a version of discovery of their self knowledge. In Nausea, Antoine Roquentin s version of self knowledge comes through him through the physical nausea he feels when finding out about his own existence. In Alcibiades, the opposite occurs. It is through Alcibiades s lack of knowledgethat he becomes self aware and learns self knowledge through Socrates teachings on how to care for the self. • 19. The Use Of Drugs And Drug Abuse In The United States Drugs are on the uptrend here in America, with more than 120 people dying per day of drug overdose, according to the Penington Institute. Many people, including President Trump, have pinpointed Mexico as a source of many of the drugs consumed in the US. President Trump voiced his views in the speech in 2015 as he announced his Presidential bid: They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems with us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. Mr. Trump is right about one thing: Mexicans are smugglingdrugs into the US. According to a report released by US Customs and Border Protection in 2015, 99.8% of methamphetamine and 99.9% of marijuana captured by the organization were at the border shared with Mexico. Even though it is not possible to know exactly how much of the drugs consumed in the US are imported from Mexico, it is reasonable to deduce from the Customs and Border Protection figures that the percentage of drugs from Mexico consumed in the US is a high percentage. Even though this is a major problem in our country today, drugs imported from Mexico and consumed in America is a problem the the Mexican and American governments have been trying to solve for half a century. Since the 1960s, the Mexican and American government have imposed ever increasingly stringent laws on the drug. However, this approach certainly hasn t decreased the use of drugs in America, but why? I believe that the laws and policies put into action by the US and Mexico have been largely ineffective because the institutions that put these laws into effect cannot enforce them, due to lack of funding, corruption in all levels of government and law enforcement, and the lack of knowledge on the drug trade. One of the first investigations into the drug trade, Operation Intercept, occurred in 1969. The report, published by the Secretary of the Treasury, David Kennedy, and the Attorney General, John Mitchell, outlines and exposes many problems in the effort to curb the flourishing trade of drugs from Mexico to America. One of the problems that is repeated several times is the lack of manpower in multiple organizations, including Border Patrol and Bureau of Customs, two departments that are

In addition to using up fossil fuels and other resources, plastic products create litter, hurt marine life, and threaten the basis of life on earth. There is over 45 million tons of plastics per year and nearly every piece of plastic ever made still exists today because of its long life properties. Biodegradable plastics could be an effective solution to all of these problems. Biodegradable plastics are a much better choice than non biodegradable plastics because they are friendlier to the earth and the environment. Biodegradable plastics break down faster, can be recycled easier and are non toxic. With these characteristics of biodegradable plastics, we could help save lives and the environment as well and reduce the threat plastics give to marine life. Plastic, the wonder material that we use for everything, is perhaps the most harmful of this trash because it does not readily break down in nature but if it is biodegradable, these plastics break down faster so they have a much shorter effect on the earth, and they will degrade completely. Normal plastics are manufactured using oil, and this process is very harmful to the environment by polluting the air and environment, but this is not the case with green biodegradable plastics. Specifically, monsters are foundational to how we view ourselves. Monsters contain all the traits deemed unacceptable and odd. It can be concluded that every outlier is a monster . In St. Lucy s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, Karen Russell tells the story of a pack of wolf girls who are transitioning into young ladies. Russell delves into society s need for conformity, gender roles, and change. • 25. The Mystery Of Mystery By Agatha Christie INTRODUCTION And Then There Were None, written by Agatha Christie in 1939, remains one of the best mystery novels ever created to this day. During her time, mystery was an established genre for novels. Famous mystery writers like Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle developed the mystery genre by following the rules when writing their stories. In a typical mystery novel, the story would be told by a detective. The story would then go on as the detective tries to solve the case. More clues would be found and it would get clearer as the story gets further. At the end, we would know who the culprit was and every mysterious event that took place in the story would be explained. These novels give the readers a chance to solve the case. Despite the mystery genre having some certain rules by it, Christie broke some of these rules when writing some of her books. I want to investigate specifically the ways in which Christie wrote this book differently and to explore how and why she broke the rules of the detective genre. Christie developed And Then There Were None without having a detective solving the case. In the end, the law never has the chance to get their hands on the murderer. The way Christie constructs the plot also makes it impossible for the readers to guess who the murderer was, especially from ten characters that have each of their own motives to kill the other nine. Although rules were broken, And Then There Were None became one of the most critically acclaimed

Academic Achievement And Advancement For Students Educators and school administrators have the largest responsibility of promoting academic achievement and advancement for all students, regardless of their cultural background. Throughout the United States, schools enroll students with different academic levels and cultural backgrounds. As of 2011, African Americanchildren embodied 16% of the public schoolpopulation in the United Statesand Muslim children, less than 3% (National Center for Education Statistics). Keeping this in mind, students from cultural minorities can be at risk of academic failure due to the environment they are raised in. As schools educate such a vast array of students, it is crucial that educators and support staff be competent in working with a diverse group of students. School counselors, personnel, and educators need to be able to collaborate with students in helping them reach their potential in academics, social skills, future planning, as well as mental health concerns (NCES, 2009). It is imperative that school counselors are informed and understand the cultural values and beliefs of minority groups in order to help students achieve academic and personal success. Because of this, it is critical that educators and school personnel are aware of the difficulties and types of support individual students from diverse cultural backgrounds may need. Conflict Resolution In broad terms, conflict resolution refers to the process two or more individuals utilize in order to reach an agreement to a dispute or debate (Miall, Ramsbotham Woodhouse, 1999). While there are many specific components to conflict resolution, the application of each facet is strongly tied to the specifics of each individual conflict. In the case of Brian and Jon s office space conflict, the pair should examine the relevant concepts of fractionation, framing, reframing, and common ground. • 28. Kant s Philosophy on the Metaphysical World Explained in... In the Critique of Pure Reason, philosopher Immanuel Kant aims to thoroughly explain his philosophy of the metaphysical world. Within the Transcendental Aesthetic, Kant focuses on confirming that space and time are a priori intuitions. He provides reasoning and arguments as to why they are transcendentally ideal but empirically real, making space and time subjectively necessary for experiences. Simultaneously, Kant distinguishes space and time from secondary qualities, which belong to our senses through experience, by confirming that unlike space and time, secondary qualities are not empirically real. Kant does run into conflicts with his theory, he still successfully claims that space and time are transcendentally ideal but empirically real, as well as distinguish them from secondary qualities by supporting his theories with reasoning. Kant s theory of transcendental idealism states that human beings only experience appearances and not things in themselves (Rohlf). Space and time are transcendentally ideal because they allow us to perceive things in themselves. This means that space and time are only forms in which properties of objects appear and not properties of things in themselves. Therefore, space and time are not self subsistent and nor are they substances that have properties. Kant draws two conclusions for space and three conclusions for time. In conclusion (a), Kant states that space and time do not have properties of things in themselves (A26/B42). He also

  • 32. Women Are Living Longer Than Men Women are living longer than men but is there a widening gap of health outcomes between men and women? Can this gender gap in mortality/morbidity effects be explained by the gender paradox? This essay will analyze whether the gender paradox can explain the health outcomes of men and women and what the causes of the genderparadox are exactly. The gender paradox theorizes that men are more likely to die earlier compared to women, however women report higher morbidity levels and indicate diminished quality of life over men (Rieker et. al 2005)(Arber et. al 1999)(Macintyre et. al 1996). Researchers state the reasons for the gender gap could be the larger population of women compared to men, gender differencesin cardiovascular diseases and immune function and disorders, gender differences in mental health issues, and age related diseases that impact their health and are the leading age adjusted causes of death for men and women (Rieker et. al 2005) (Gurung 2010). The paradox has been questioned in recent years suggesting there are smaller indications of the gender disparities in health relative to mortality and morbidity in both genders (Macintyre et. al 1996) Although cardiovascular diseases have a greater prevalence in men, a majority of women die of the disease because of their superior life expectancy and the range of CVD risk factors from aging. The gender difference in years lived with the cardiovascular disease is seen in greater cases of women than years of life

Although by similar means, these policy ideas arrived at different historical moments at Chile and Argentina. Privatization ideas made its way in Chile carried by the influential Chicago boys, during the critical juncture of the authoritarian regime. The market based reform served the interests of the military regime, and faced very little resistance given the repression and dismantling of the teacher union, and the penetration of the economic logic in the Ministry of Education. Timing, carriers and weak opposition allowed a complete replacement of the domestic education policy. Later in democracy, state oriented education bureaucrats were not able to reverse the policy change. Although they tried to build on the inherited model and use the state as a way to correct the failures of the education market, the inconsistency between their goals and their means ended up reproducing and strengthening the privatized model. By contrast in Argentina, the economic perspective arrived timidly and late when the country was making its transition to democracy. The resistance of the teacher union and provincial governments towards fiscal decentralization, and the reluctance of the ministry of education to market based reforms, refrained the government from proposing explicit privatization instruments such as vouchers. First, usually children are likely to mimic or imitate those people it perceives as similar to itself or when they think if they imitate the model, they can succeed in accomplishing something. Then, the people around them will give respond or feedback to the behavior they imitate with either reinforcement or punishment. If a child imitates a model s behavior and the consequences are rewarding, the child is likely to continue performing the behavior and vice versa. Children will also take into account of what happens to other people when they decide whether or not to copy someone s actions. Some applications of this social learning theory that teachers can apply in the classroom learning and teaching are teacher as a role model for students, choices of teaching materials, controlled drilling activity in classroom and providence of reinforcement to
  • 41. Changing Voting Restrictions Have you ever felt like the government is trying to take away your voice? Well if you allow them to take away your right to vote with new restrictions on who can or can not vote then that is what they are basically doing. It would be taking away the already small voice you have in your governmental system. If they were to change the requirements then it would cause mass confusion of electionday, it would be erasing what some people fought for to earn the right to vote, and the votingrate is low enough. One of the main reasons why we should not change the voting restrictions it that it would cause mass confusion when it came to election day. Election day is already heptic enough when it comes time for the american people to vote for their next commander in chief. It would just add on to the craiz and confusion if people went to go vote and was not allowed to because of a new type of restriction out that they did not know of. For example, during the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump there were 14 different states that had new voting laws. One of the 14 states that changed their voting laws was Connecticut. If we had more restrictions then it would be like we went back in time when certain people did not have the right to vote. ( History of Voting Rights ) The last reason why we should not have any more voting restrictions is because we already have a low voting rate as it is. If we had any more requirements than the voting rate would be even

We ve gone from clunky computers and dial up internet to a computer the size of a phone and 3G internet. We ve made incredible medical advances, and we re finally also starting to use our technology to better help our planet, but there s still so much to create, discover, and learn about. Here are some crazy technologies that could be available by 2025. 1. Widespread use of solar panels Alternative energy is a huge area of contention for a lot of people. The world currently relies so heavily on fossil fuels that switching to other forms of energy means that many people will lose jobs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That will change in the coming years as more people buy electric cars and pressure is put on cities to create more spots for charging. On top of electric cars, however, we will also have 3D printed ones. Audi has already created their own 3D printed mini car, but Local Motors is taking orders for their full sized 3D printed car. There are two different versions of the car that you can get. One is called the Reload Swim (which is the more regular looking car) and the other is the Reload Sport (which is the sports car version). These cars will also be electric. Imagine a future where your car doesn t harm the environment or create air pollution. It could be a whole new world. ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML ) 3. Everything connected to the internet If you think that everything is connected to the internet already, just wait until 2025. By 2025, estimates are that there will be over a trillion different sensors connected to the internet. This will take the form of clothes and other wearable tech for instance. Approximately about 10% of people by 2022 will be wearing clothing that connects to the internet. Other things like your home will go online. You can already view your security cameras and change your thermostat using different apps, but with voice technology like Alexa from Amazon you ll do all that and so much more
  • 43. Textual Analysis Of Troy Troy is clearly the protagonist. He s likable and complex. He s the type of character that feels like he can attract talent, given his range of emotion and his deep, psychological need and inner struggle. Troy s choices to find his biological family and give Gigi a ride move the story forward. Troy has a solid external goal and he s driven by his inner, emotional need to find out about his biological parents and connect. It s a solid goal and objective. The stakes are personal. Troy is well established as being obsessive compulsive. He has a fear of germs. The story really never fully addresses or resolves this. Reconsider the title it doesn t do justice for the script. Overall, a creative and imaginative script with a very unique voice, but at the same time, it s ambitious and left up to interpretation. It s not always an easy script to follow or
  • 44. Essay on Effect of Temperature on Rate of Reaction of... Effect of Temperature on Rate of Reaction of Catalase Introduction This investigation was in an attempt to try to find out how varying the temperature can affect an enzyme. The enzyme used was catalase which breaks down Hydrogen Peroxide, this gives off water and oxygen as effervescence. This effervescence is what is used to measure the reaction rate of the catalase. The optimal heat for enzyme activity is proven to be 37oC as anything above this denatures the enzyme. Denaturing is where the heat energy of breaks down the di sulphide, ionic and hydrogen bonds that hold the tertiary structure together, this in turn changes the shape of the active site and so halts any reactions that the enzyme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is why the reaction rate rose with the temperature, however after a certain point (40oC), the enzymes were becoming denatured and this caused them to become useless which is why the reaction slowed to a halt after this temperature. This was a poor experiment because: The potato chips were very hard to get exactly the same. This inaccuracy caused the surface area to differ between chips, which means that a small linear error will make a big surface area error. To counter this, a machine should be used to cut the chips to a preset size and would be very accurate. Measuring effervescence was very inaccurate. The Bubbles tended to burst when they were made which caused the overall amount of bubbles to be inaccurate. To prevent this, a syringe could be used or the gas bubbled up through water to get an accurate measure of the amount produced. The temperature of the potato chip when it was placed into the substrate, this means that the enzymes may still be working while they are being heated to the desired temperature, so if the temperature was 80oC then the enzyme may work hard for the first minute or so because the potato is still heating up when in fact 80oC SHOULD cause the enzyme activity to become nil. This probably accounted for some anomalies we received after doing this

As Gulliver begins to explore his surroundings, a group of savages attack him. These savages appear to be human, however they behave like wild animals. Gulliver is rescued by a couple of horses. The horses are called Houyhnhnms are rational creatures which are capable of speech and thought. The horses refer to these human like creatures as Yahoos and treat them as wild animals incapable of reasoning. Gulliver fails to point out the necessity of laws in human society and dwells on abuses of the legal system. Gulliver describes many problems in humanity. His master gives examples of how the Yahoos of his land acted similar to the humans. Gulliver shows how immoral humanity is. The Houyhnhnms are different from humans in several important ways. The horses seem to lack passions specifically love and compassion. The horses make up for their lack of emotions with industry and temperance. They try to encourage the cultivation of reason. There are a few similarities in the order of societies between the horses and Gulliver s people. An example of this is the general assembly where the horses meet. It is a representative council which takes place every four years. This council was created to keep balance in the Houyhnhnms society. This council is very similar to the British parliament which was created for the same purpose, however parliament rarely has unanimous consent on any matter unlike the Houyhnhnms council. The Houyhnhnms have no written language. Therefore their knowledge is passed down orally. The Houyhnhnms are virtuous, united and governed by reason. They have almost no emotions. They don t express sorrow when one of them dies. After spending a long time with the Houyhnhnms, Gulliver grows very fond of their culture and lifestyle. He becomes more virtuous and wise during his visit. Gulliver
  • 47. Common Propositional Argument Evaluation On pages 164 175, we learn over the 8 common propositional argument evaluations. Every argument must be valid in order to pass the Proper Form Test. In the cases of fallacies, not every premise will support the conclusion making that argument invalid. The first argument we see is Denying the Disjunct, which involves two statements, in two forms, which can be explained through four forms. The first form is If S1 or S2, not S1, therefore S2 (pg. 164). The second form is If S1 or S2, Tf S1 (pg.164). This means that if the premise denies the disjunct, then the conclusion is false. We see this form because a disjunct is when a premise denies the conclusion. The second argumentwe see is the Fallacy of Affirming the inclusive Disjunct,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a disjunction is false, because of the alternatives presented then it is considered a false dichotomy. (pg.168). We are now presented with Affirming the Antecedent, whose form is If S1, then S2, S1, tf, S2 (Pg.170). This is shown because if the first statement affirms or supports the second statement, then it affirms the antecedent. The statements do not contradict or deny each other. The next argument we see is the Fallacy: Denying the antecedent, which is when premise is conditional, but it denies the antecedent. The antecedent is the part of the statement we learned through facts of background knowledge, but if S1 denies S2, then the argument as a whole is invalid (pg.172). Denying the Consequent is not a fallacy, but it occurs when one premise is conditional, but it denies the consequent. Because the consequent is denied, then we know that the conclusion is denied as well. (pg.173). The form is If S1, then S2, not S2, therefore, not S1. (pg.173) We know this through the proper form and true premise test, because the form indicates that it is invalid and the premises are false, so it fails the true premise test. The last argument we see is Tri Conditional. This argument differs from the other arguments, because we are now using three statements to confirm if the premise are true. The form is If S1, then S2, If S2, then S3, therefore If S1,
  • 48. Allison Mickelson Eye Contact In my opinion, Eye Contact deserves 3.5 out of 5 stars. The film was not as scary as it could have been. It would have been scarier if rather than using a shadow as the fear factor, a man was used. The shadow was implied to be a figure of a man, but it would have been more suspenseful if the shadow had more developed features. In the film, Allison Mickelson, the runner, was being followed by a mysterious shadow. The shadow was always present each time she turned around to peek, and the shadow followed her all the way home. When she arrived home she frantically called 911. While calling, the shadow entered her home and she dropped the phone mid call. The film maker was successful in creating suspense but not so much making you feel

In 1814 when a young Thomas was visiting his family, he noticed a young girl with no friends. When he went to speak to her about why she wasn t playing with anyone, he learned she was Deaf and had no way of communicating. • 50. Sciatic Nerve Research Paper The sciatic nerve is the one of the largest nerves in the human body. It is the major nerve of the lower limb and its approximately 2 cm wide (Savastrano). The sciatic nerve originates in the nerve roots of L4 S3, which begins in the lower back. The nerve then branches off down to the gluteal region and then down to the lower limb. One of its main functions is supply a pathway that provides a connection to the nervous systemfor all the sensory input that comes from the skin and muscles of the leg. The sciatic nervecomes from a formation of nerves called the lumbosacral plexus. This formation of nerves is made of anterior divisions of the lumbar, sacral and coccygeal nerves. To get the nerve to regenerate from the damage suffered during surgery doctors can place oxidized regenerated cellulose around the nerve (Ikeda). There is a need to find other ways to increase the regeneration capabilities of the sciatic nerves. Injuries to the sciatic nerve can cause complete or incomplete los of motor, sensory and autonomic function due to degeneration (Sun Zhao). Nerve growth factor (NGF) is essential for the stimulation of peripheral nerve regeneration. More specifically NGF is a neuropeptide that function to regulate growth, maintenance and proliferation of neurons. These factors all led to the to NGF helping with the repair of injured nerves. When NGF is given to patients in a solution the solution is rapidly diffused and not able to be absorbed by the damaged nerves for an adequate amount of time. In order to get NGF to be retained longer in the nerve researchers hope to develop a way
