2. Introduction to project
We aim to create a promotional package to promote an upcoming horror film. This package
includes a promotional trailer, a film poster and a film magazine front cover. We need to focus
on maintaining the same conventions all the way through the three pieces of media in order to
maintain professionalism. We have chosen the supernatural sub-genre, mostly because it is our
favourite. However, we are also interested in the effects and effort gone into creating a
supernatural horror film and we are willing to experiment with it in a way that will attract the
target audience. Although we will be following the conventions of horror, we will also be
showing originality. We have started exploring and researching existing films that are similar to
our ideas, in order to be more aware of what conventions we should follow. The following
people will be working together on this project: Claudia Ionescu, Rebecca Dahl.
We going to ensure all three components share obvious examples of symbiosis, which will
enhance the professionalism of the overall advertising campaign. The promotional package will
advertise a new horror film within the supernatural subgenre of horror. The film will follow the
general conventions of the genre and subgenre by including typical horror sequences such as
jump scares, dark shadows and screams.
