1. Our challenge is to create a promotional horror movie package to advertise an
upcoming film. This package will conform to conventions and aspire to meet
professional standards and typical horror scenarios. Our three pieces of media will
involve a symbiotic link so that the audience can clearly associate the three media
pieces together.
Our three media pieces will promote a horror film falling under the sub-genre of a
psychological slasher. We have chosen to explore the slasher subgenre due to the
fact we feel as if we can produce an exciting and thrilling trailer with the resources
available to us. Slasher films are able to encapsulate the audience quickly due to the
gripping scenes and suspension that can be built. As we are only producing a 2
minute 30 second trailer, the conventions of this subgenre can work to our
advantage, as stereotypical killing scenes and jump scares can be used to entice the
audience to a further extent.
Collectively we will work to produce three pieces of conventional horror media which
will appeal to the audience's preferences. By analysing existing pieces of media from
this sub-genre we will be able to familiarize ourselves with the typical conventions
and incorporate this into our own work.
Based on past experiences we are aware that the four of us (Ollie, Scarlett, Jamie
and Matthew) work well and effectively as a team distributing the load of work
equally and communicating efficiently.
