2. 1) Brief – Create a theatrical poster, teaser poster and DVD cover for film. Audience and
age institution – 15+
2) Genre – Action/Adventure Thriller
3) Institution – Warner Bro’s
4) Inspiration – Dystopian film, ‘What Happened to Monday?’ Involves a lot of
action/suspense through the use of guns, weapons etc as the government try and track
down the six sextuplets
5) Audience appeal – Make the film look interesting through the synopsis of film, events
that occur, and must have features suited to an audience that is 15+
6) Synopsis of film – ‘Every person is born with a twin. One is evil and one is good. Your
twin died at birth; the government isn’t sure which one you are. They make their best
guess and send you to one of the territories when you turn sixteen. They choose
wrong.’
7) Colour scheme – Mostly dark colours such as black, navy, grey to reflect melancholy
atmosphere of the film
8) Fonts – Perhaps blocky, white text which helps it to stand out, large text to reflect
boldness of film?
9) Layout for product –
Teaser Poster:
• Main image in
middle
• Continuous
slogan across
top and
bottom
• Warner Bro’s
Theatrical Poster:
• Main image in
middle
• Warner Bro’s logo
• Short slogan
DVD Cover:
• Large image in middle, perhaps
title of film below main image
• Synopsis of film with images
underneath
• Age rating, institutions, length of
film etc
3. 10) Media Language – Connotations and Denotations, Proairectic and Hermeneutic Codes
11) Construction of representation – Different age, gender, ethnicity etc
12) How film reflects industry context – A lot of dystopian films/episodes/books have been
released recently, such as Black Mirror, Insurgent and What Happened to Monday. Reflects
ideas of criticism towards our generation, and offers a prediction regarding what will
happen in the future
13) How the target audience are targeted – Main character/s of film are the same age as
the target audience, therefore it might be more appealing and can allow the audience to
sympathise with the protagonist better
14) Photography – Image of sister laying on the floor, looking up to the sky, reflecting a
lack of hope, or even a chance of hope
• Image of a birthday cake, with candles, to reflect age of the protagonist and what is to
come
• Close-up side photo of sister laying on the floor with eyes closed
• Close-up of sister laying with her eyes open
• Medium-long shot of myself and my sister lying on the floor, looking up
15) Models – Myself, Emma (younger sister) and possibly Molly and Caitlin
16) Clothing/costumes – ‘Normal’ clothing, won’t really be seen due to close-up photos,
perhaps a full image of protagonist wearing dark clothes, again reflecting the
environment/setting
17) Facial expressions/pose/body language: Standing quite firm and tall, direct address at
4. 18) Hair and Makeup – Hair looks freshly washed and tidy, perhaps loose, thick and not
particularly messy. Makeup looks subtle, not over-done, but perhaps a little bit of mascara
and lipgloss
19) Where I will take my photos – Most of them at home, ensuring that there is natural
lighting, however some of them might need to be taken at college in the studio, however,
this may depend on who I use for my model/s
20) Inspirational photos/products – ‘What Happened to Monday?’ involves the government
trying to take over, like my film, and they use dark colours and fierce looking images of the
sisters which I am going to incorporate into my photography, layout and editing
