Summary Of Doug Mcadams Freedom Summer
Freedom Summer by Doug McAdams, is a riveting book that captures the story of the 1964 Freedom
Summer. In which over a thousand volunteers went to Mississippi, to register blacks to vote, and to
staff freedom schools, something that view people realize was also a part of freedom summer. In his
book, McAdams discusses, the events that occurred during Freedom Summer, from murder to
harassment. He discusses the reasons why young white, affluent, northerners, who it would seem
would not care about the plight of African Americans, decided to take part in Freedom Summer.
McAdams chronicles the events of Freedom Summer using interviews and surveys from people who
took part in Freedom Summer, or people who applied for freedom summer but did not take part.
During the book, McAdams discusses the effect that freedom ... Show more content on

In class we have discussed the reasons why people form groups, and who tends to be a part of a group.
People form groups so that, specifically interest groups. Our definition of an interest group id it has to
be an organized group, seek to influence public policy, and they don t seek public office. Freedom
Summer does not meet this definition alone, because it was a campaign, and not an organization,
however SNCC (Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee) does. SNCC was an organized group.
People had to apply to be a part of this group, there was leadership and they had a plan of who they
were going to accomplish their goals. During Freedom summer they wanted to influence public
policy, by the volunteers going out to register people to vote, they were causing attention on the issue
of disenfranchisement of African Americans in the country, but more specifically Mississippi. These
individuals were not trying to gain political office. These were college students who wanted to create a
change in the world. At least at this time, they had no ambition to gain any political

Plum Point Park Essay
Issue Proposition Plum Point Park was once a place for sprouted overgrown weeds and rotting piers.
Through initiative and optimism, West Ghent Civic League proposed to transition the bleak plot of
land into a permanent park in the early 1990 s. 10 years and $1.5 million later, the park is now
considered an open natural refuge for local residents and home for various wildlife living along the
Elizabeth River. Granted Plum Point Park is an artificial park, there is still a lot of potentials that the
park can amount to. Due to the lack of green spaces and aesthetically appealing areas throughout the
park, the scenery can become very monotonous. In August of 2016, Global Shapers Norfolk (GSN)
produced a final report, titled #WeAre757Millenials, based on responses from Millennials. Everything

walking from the Chelsea neighborhood on the Elizabeth River Walk Trail. The current state of the plot
is untreated and untended. There is an extensive amount of overgrowth, weeds, foreign debris, and
fallen leaves that are within the plot s bed. Scope of Work Global Shapers Norfolk will be involved in
the design, formation, and construction of the garden. Also, all costs of the project will be covered by

Design of A Rectangular Patch Antenna using Computer Simulation Technology (CST)
Nik Nurul Azuin Bt Nik Abdul Rahman, ID No.: 2010702499, GROUP: EE2405A
Abstract A design of a microstrip rectangular patch antenna is presented in this paper. The proposed
antenna was simulated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) CAD Package and design on a
microstrip with relative permittivity of 4.6, and substrate and copper thickness of 0.5 mm and 0.035
mm respectively with 4.5 GHz of frequency.

The patch antenna, microstrip transmission line and ground plane are made of high conductivity metal
(typically copper). The patch is of length L, width W, and sitting on top of a substrate (some dielectric
circuit board) of thickness h with permittivity. The thickness of the ground plane or of the microstrip is
not critically important. Typically the height h is much smaller than the wavelength of operation, but
not much smaller than 0.05 of a wavelength.

Research Paper On Atrial Septal Defect
Atrial Septal defect is the most common form of atrial heart defect that occurs when the atrium septum
fails to form properly. It is a congenital defect that creates an opening between the two chambers
(right and left atrium). During regular septum development in a fetus, the septum primum tissue
between the left and right atria grows downward slowly creating two separate chambers and exposes a
gap (ostium primum, first opening ). The septum primum then fuses with the endocardial cushion and
the gap closes completely while a hole appears in the upper area (ostium secundum, second opening ).
The septum secundum now starts to grow downward to the right of the septum primum, covering the
ostium secundum but leaving an opening (foramen ovale).

Example Of Moral Philosophy
Moral Philosophy is the rational study of the meaning and justification of moral claims. A moral claim
evaluates the rightness or wrongness of an action or a person s character . For example, stealing is
wrong claims that the act of stealing is wrong, while people should not be dishonest claims a character
trait (i.e. dishonesty) is wrong (Gert and Gert).
Descriptively, morality refers to certain codes of conduct put forward by a society or a group (such as
a religion) or accepted by an individual for his/her own behavior. Normatively, it refers to a code of
conduct that, given specified conditions, would be put forward by all rational persons. ( What Is Moral
Philosophy? ).

Board Game Balance Essay
Year published was 2003 and designed by Nicole Johnschwager, Dale Pillars and Nathan Ruff. There s
not a lot of information about this game online or even in the instructions. it s fairly new when it
comes to board games and in my opinion not very well known.
Balance
This was the reason I chose this game for my summative. The balance of this game is more chosen by
the players than the actual game itself. The game is based off the players knowledge of each other. For
example, you have teams of two people. You could either have people who ve known each other for
years or people who have only just met and this would decide how well either team would do. I find
this quite abstract and out of the box in terms of balancing but it can also make the ... Show more

I m not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it s designed with the
intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing about
this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the teams slightly
and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned something new about
the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and that is that after a lot of
paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with them again you know the
answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the players themselves could think
of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this would mean there a more question in
the game that haven t been answered before and therefore not make the game less fun for people who
have played it a lot. Another way would be to introduce a rule where if a player guesses their teams
answer wrong an opposing player can step in voluntarily and take a guess at their answer. if they get it
right they get to move their piece the same amount of spaces forward as on the dice and get to start
their turn there, but if they get it wrong they have to move back half the amount of spaces. the reason I
say back half the amount of spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk. this would give players
more incentive to try guess rather

Daemon s Personality And Identity In The Golden Compass
In The Golden Compass, daemons act as an extension or real life manifestation of someone s
consciousness or soul. They take physical form as animals, revealing information about the character s
personality and identity. Daemons are always by your side, basically like wearing your heart on your
sleeve. It is more than just a soul however, a daemon is also like a friend/extension of yourself that
you can talk to as a friend wherever you go. You can talk to your own daemon like you talk to
yourself, so daemons have a very close connection with its owner . Everyone has one, but children s
daemons tend to switch around as they go through puberty, which is a pretty good representation of
how the teenage/child soul can fluctuate wildly at the age period. ... Show more content on

Daemons can tell us a lot about someone s personality similar people have similar daemons. For
example, servants have dog daemons, which denotes loyalty. Witches all have bird daemons, probably
because they both fly. We can decipher some underlying information about a character by examining
their daemon, because they are all representative of the consciousness and feelings of its owner. For
example, Mrs. Coulter has a golden monkey for a daemon, which denotes beauty from the gold, but
potentially mischievous intentions from the monkey. Lord Asriel has a snow leopard for a daemon,
which reflects his power, coldness, and potential aggressiveness. The interaction between two
character s daemons can be representative of how those two characters will interact

Hippotherapy In Physical Therapy
According to the American Physical Therapy Association, the scope of physical therapy includes the
prevention or minimization of problems caused by conditions of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular,
cardiovascular, pulmonary, or integumentary systems (APTA, 2016). One of the less conventional
physical therapy treatment options is hippotherapy, also called equine assisted therapy. Hippotherapy,
as defined by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, is the use of
the motion of a horse as a treatment strategy by occupational therapists, physical therapists, and

increased tension in the rectus abdominis muscle. By directly measuring the electrical activity in this

Barbie only moves in five different places, her neck, shoulders, and top of her legs, whereas, GI Joe

Why Is John Adams Important
John Adams is a very important man in history. He is most commonly known for his role as the
second president of the United States. However, there is more to Adams then his role a the second
president of the United States. On October 30, 1775, Adams was born into a farming family in present

old enough Adams wanted to become a farmer. His father, John Adams Sr., knew that he had more
potential. Adams never had much of an interest in school work, nevertheless his parents provided him
with a good education. As a young boy Adams attended a public Latin school in Quincy,
Massachusetts. As well as providing Adams with a good education, his parents also equipped him with
two private tutors. In 1755, Adams decided to further his education at Harvard. At nineteen years old
Adams had decided to pursue a career as an grammar teacher. It didn t take John Adams one to realize
that being an grammar was not what he was called to do. He was later admitted to Boston

My Girl Analysis
Howard Zieff s 1991 film My Girl, is a comedic drama and coming to age tale of a young girl that
goes through an emotional roller coaster, which confronts her with death at a very young age. The film
replicates real life scenarios and experiences which grabs the audience s attention because it s
relatable. End result, we are all confronted with the fact that death is inexplicably inevitable.
When reflecting on the film My Girl, one may feel a sudden bittersweet sadness because the film is
about death. Regardless of one s particular belief system or perception, the fact remains that death is
the end of our physical lives as we know it. When the death is unexpected, it creates an emotional
impact and leaves an impression on one s own life. My Girl at the time was a memorable film for
coming to age teens who have lost someone and it will always appeal to teen audiences of different
generations from here on out because of this theme.
To illustrate this topic, Zieff s illuminates what in many cultures is considered taboo. Adults and
children can openly talk about this subject with the help of this film. From the beginning of her life,
the main character Vada has been surrounded by death, some of which happened without her even
own knowing. Her mother died while giving birth to her and her father operates a funeral service out
of their home. In addition to this, you experience her lose her best friend who winds up dying because
of a bee string.

Explain Why It Is Wrong To Walk Away From Mortgage
I think that it is wrong to walk away from your mortgage if you are able to pay it.Many people
disagree with this. They feel as though it is completely ethical to walk way from a contract. They have
three main reasons as to why they feel this way. The first reason is that it makes financial sense in the
short term. They think it is financially wise in some cases to walk away from your mortgage. The
second reason is that banks account for this in their financial plans. So if banks account for people
walking away from their loans this somehow makes it ok to do that? The final reason is that the banks
participate in unethical endeavors so it makes it alright for the borrower to unethically walk away
from their loan. The first reason is partially

Julius Caesar Tragic Figure Quotes
After reading the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, think who best fits the role of a tragic figure
In this play? There are many tragic figures, but the one who stands out the most and who practically
defines the play as a tragedy would be Brutus. In the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare
portrays Brutus as the tragic figure. Marcus Brutus fits Aristotle s definition of a tragic figure.
Aristotle s definition explains a tragic figure as a [great] man who is neither a paragon of virtue and
justice nor undergoes the change to misfortune through any real badness or wickedness but because of
some mistake.
Aristotle defines a great man as a man of noble birth who is neither a model of perfection nor totally
evil. He defines a mistake or hamartia as a flaw. The great man falls through though not entirely
because of some weakness of character, some moral blindness, or error. Brutus fits this description,

In this quote, Cassius (a conspirator) is referring to Caesar. Cassius is very envious of Caesar and
doesn t think that Caesar should have all of the power because he wants it for himself. This is also
how the rest of the conspirators (aside from Brutus) feel. The conspirators jealousy is their motivation
for wanting Caesar dead. Whether or not Brutus decision to join the conspirators and their pan for
murder is a mistake is debatable. However, it is obvious that the decision is what led to the misfortune/
fall of Brutus character. Brutus explains to Cassius No, Cassius, no. Think not, thou noble Roman, that

Roman Patrician Research Paper
Ancient Rome was split into two classes: the aristocrats, known as the patricians, and the lower class,
known as the plebeians. They lived harmoniously alongside each other for a while, but after Rome
began to rise from it s ashes the plebeians became resentful and decided to take action. To fully
understand the degree of their anger some light needs to be shined on their situation, and how the
patricians treated them.
While Rome was rebuilding itself after the fall of the Roman Kingdom, it was a Republic. Meaning
there were a small group of people that represented the population, making decisions for the country.
In this case they were all patricians. There is an obvious downside to this, all decisions were made to

One of the most important changes that occurred was the creation of new positions for plebeians in the
government, tributes and aediles. There were two of each position and they were elected by the

veto power over the patricians, making it so they couldn t create laws that were unjust to plebeians.
Furthermore, the tributes could freely speak their minds, and anyone that obstructed that freedom

Middle Ages Feudal System
September 21st, 2014
The feudal system is based on the allocation of land in exchange for services. It was used in most of
Europe during the Middle Ages, which spanned from the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 CE to the
beginning of the Renaissance in the 14th century. It developed when Rome fell, leaving a power
vacuum, as there was no government. People were being attacked, enslaved, and killed by barbarian
tribes, with no protection. The social structure of the Middle Ages was organized around this system.
It meant that the country was mainly governed not just by the king, but by individual lords or barons
who administered their own estates, levied taxes, and demanded military service from vassals. The
feudal system transformed society during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Castille was the dominant force in the unification of Spain, as the territory was three times as large as
Aragon s. Queen Isabella I, the heiress to Castille, married Ferdinand II of Aragon in 1469, bringing
together the two kingdoms together in what became the unification of Spain as a modern state.
Isabella is known for her role in purifying the Roman Catholic religion by expelling the Jews and
defeating the Moors in Spain.
Feudalism was a dominant power in French society for many centuries, lasting until the French
Revolution in 1789. It began with the Merovingians, a dynasty that ruled over the Franks in a region
that was then known as Francia in the 5th century. They were the first major political authority to arise
out of the fall of the Roman Empire. Clovis I was the first ruler and is considered to be the founder of
the French State. From the fifth century onwards, Merovingian Kings dominated the region. From mid
seventh century on, however, their power began to decline, and Charles Martel ruled as Mayor of the
Palace. Martel led the Franks in the Battle of Tours in 732 when they defeated

The Role of Queen Guinevere in King Arthur and His...
She is the most perdurable female figure in King Arthur and his Knights. Without her the suspense and
the plot flow could not have been achieved. Her influence has enabled her to penetrate into men s
world a trait that distinguishes her from the rest of the women. Knights are referred to as the queen s
knights. We could say the same of the ladies who accompany the queen and keep the knights in good
company (pg.52) .Queen Guinevere, as the King s wife, is acknowledged by males.
But despite her access to the Round Table, she has no legitimate power. She is a woman figure who
can be discarded as desired. Her presence in the male dominated arena is a source of discord among
them. She is resented as a threat to the bonds of men, an eventuality ... Show more content on

The debate on whether to sanction Queen Guinevere by death, or not, takes place between the Pope,
King Arthur and Sir Lancelot through letters. Men who are the source of women s suffering are the
same ones to redeem them from their bondage.
Although she is in more social limelight and higher status than other women, she suffers the same
humiliation as they do. She is stripped naked in front of her subjects. The homo social bond among the
Knights of the Round Table leaves no room for Guinevere. According to King Arthur, she is
substitutable whereas the Knights are not. For the king, she is an emblem of superiority and power
over the other knights.
Queen Guinevere is the only woman who does not fully conform to what is expected of her. She does
not passively consent to Mordred s intention to inherit her like an item. She makes use of the women s
persuasive power and feigns the desire to look good on their wedding day to pave her way out of
Mordred s captivity. She is the master of flirtation and she knows how to stroke the male ego.
All in all, Queen Guinevere mirrors what the male society expects of her by becoming a nun. She
blames the tragedy which has befallen the Kingdom on the romance. She is unaware that she was only
an instrument of the action but not the agent of it. She is neither an example as a Queen nor as a
woman to the women of her time as well as the readers of the 21st century.

Essay about Joan Of Arc By Jules Basten Lepage
Joan of Arc, was painted by the French realist artist Jules Bastien Lepage in 1879. After the province
of Lorraine was lost to Germany following the Franco Prussian War in 1821, The Frenchmen saw in
Joan of Arc a new and powerful symbol. In 1875, Bastien Lepage, a native of Lorraine began to make
studies for a picture of her. In the present painting, exhibited in the Salon of 1880, Joan is shown
receiving her revelation in her parents garden. Behind her are Saints Michael, Margaret, and
Catherine. (Caption next to painting in The Metropolitan)

This makes her a more easily visible aspect in the painting, and catches the onlookers eye. Joan is
dressed in a long brown skirt and blue gray shirt with white underneath which is the typical clothing
style of the 19th century. The clothing is painted to show its wear and tear. Her features and her figure
are quite realistic. She seems to have a calm, but troubled expression on her face, as though she is
deep in thought. Overall she is painted in a very detailed manner.
A less visible, yet still present and important aspect of the painting are the three figures positioned
behind Joan, and in front of the house. The figures are somewhat transparent, and ghostly. Their
presence adds a spiritual and or religious feeling to the scene. These three figures presence blends into
the scenery. Al three have halos above their heads, and serene looks on their faces.
The saint on the right is dressed in what looks to be armor. He looks brave, and as if he is standing
guard or going into battle. The middle saint is a praying angel. She is in a dress with a gauzy, white
presence around her. This whiteness gives her an ethereal quality which Bastien Lepage has painted
quite effectively, and adds to the spiritual feeling of the scene. Her presence in the painting seems to
represent chastity and virtue. The last figure looks like a young girl or child, who is kneeling with her
face hidden in her hands almost as if she is

Ekphrasis In Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Gray employs another example of ekphrasis. The portrait in the novel is more
than just a painting. It is also a physical manifestation of Dorian Gray s soul. This is its own form of
ekphrasis: the portrait is describing his morality. It is achieving the effects that Dorian s physical form
cannot. This adds yet another layer of complexity; a soul is being described by a painting, which is in
turn being described to the reader. A solid object shows us in simplified terms state of Dorian s moral
consciousness. At first, it only has a touch of cruelty in the mouth (Wilde 65). Each time he views it, it
becomes worse, until it is just a hideous face on the canvas grinning at him (Wilde 154) It is a ledger
upon which all his sins are recorded, piling one on top of the other until its renders the figure

should be enjoyed purely for its beauty, and should not contain any purpose or meaning given by the
artist (Quintus 559). Wilde was a strong proponent of this movement, and he incorporated many of its
themes into his work. In the preface of The Portrait of Dorian Gray, Wilde starkly outlines his beliefs
about art in a series of epigrams, saying, the artist is the creator of beautiful things. To reveal art and
conceal the artist is art s aim (Wilde 2). Wilde clearly demonstrates his alignment with aestheticism
and the appreciation of beauty. Not only does he personally hold these beliefs, but his characters do as

All the dimensions work together. If you are struggling in one dimension it may cause you to struggle

can help you keep healthy and happy. The physical dimension is about how well your body is kept in
shape. This includes personal hygiene, exercise, and how well you eat. Exercising once a day for an

Asking questions when you re in class and participating is a good way to be intellectually healthy. To

Book Of Hosea Essay
The Book of Hosea is a story of God s redeeming love and forgiveness. In this story of the Yahwist
prophet Hosea, the Lord Yahweh is speaking through Hosea. The sexual script of this story follows a
distinct pattern of guilt, punishment, then forgiveness and acceptance. The guilt of Gomer as a harlot
is justified by presenting the subjectivity of females to the judgements of authoritative male figures.
Regardless of the morality or righteousness of Gomer s act, she is belittled and shamed for doing
having sex with several men. The punishment follows as Gomer is stripped of her clothes and shamed
in front of everyone. Yahweh s punishment even goes as far as a miscarrying womb and dry breasts,
removing from women the power of life and procreation. This idea of punishment resonates again
with the male figure having total and complete control over the female in all aspects of her daily
engagements. Lastly we have forgiveness and acceptance. Hosea takes Gomer as his wife, ignoring all
that she has committed in the sight of Yahweh.
Hosea choosing Gomer as his wife considers the sins which she has committed. Hosea chooses Gomer
because he forgives her for her sins. In this script, Hosea is the one validating and criticizing ... Show

steadfast love are all implying that Gomer is the opposite of each word. This creates a tone of

dangerous, while men are shown as good and kind individuals. This leads to the purpose of the union
being that women are lost and looking for a male to accept them. This acceptance comes with the
benefit of Hosea offering Gomer safety from all that is evil (harlotry), and again asserting his role as
the dominant force in the union as he is the one that gives Gomer purpose and

Strange Fruit Controversy
Following our nation s reconstruction, racist sentiments continued to occur and White on Black
violence was prevalent throughout society. The horrible act of lynching African Americans was
thoroughly widespread in the United States, particularly in the South. It is said that approximately
4,742 individuals were lynched between 1882 and 1968; of the victims, 3,445 or seventy three percent
were African American (Perloff 315). An image of two lynched young men inspired Abel Meeropol to

that borders restrict freedom of movement and everything else that people have moral rights, such as

migrants have the right to live and work where ever they wish. The global liberty principle is that
everyone is completely free to move anywhere (Oberman, 2010). However Miller rejects the concept
of freedom of movement and mentions that there is difference between basic freedom , where people
have their basic rights and bare freedom that people do not have the authority to protect. There are

they cannot enter anywhere they want at anytime for instance the university hours. Also Miller argues

Physical space can inform researchers on how people interact with that space, and influence social
behavior. Applied anthropologists have a very important tool in their practitioner s toolkit that allows
them to disseminate behavior, actions, and help create spaces that will meet the needs of the
population using ethnography. Ethnography allows practitioners to use their observational skills to
improve the design of a product, landscape, environment, or assist with an infrastructural design based
on the needs of the individuals that will access such facilities (Rijsberman 2012). To do so, it is
extremely important to know the impact of physical surroundings and environmental behavior and
understand that environments have a strong influence on people s interaction with the physical
landscape.
The chapters assigned for this week focused on observing physical spaces and observing
environmental behavior. It is important to observe physical traces, physical surroundings, which
display how people interact with other individuals and that environment (Zeisel 2006). One of the big
topics of chapter 8 was how individuals change their environment to meet their needs. For example,

and Alice left Paris after a series of bombing alerts and zeppelin raids. They returned in 1916 and
decided to help out with the war efforts by joining the American Fund for French Wounded.[6]
In 1933, Stein published Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas which really was her own autobiography. It
became a best seller in the United States and elevated Stein s celebrity. Many articles were published
and she made a lot of money. Although hesitant at first because she did not know how she would be
received, Stein went on a lecture tour across America. She was welcomed with open arms everywhere
she went.
Upon returning to France in the spring of 1935 Gertrude and Alice went to their country home in
Bilignin for some privacy, away from Gertrude s new found celebrity status and rumors of war started
again. In addition to this, the landlord of 27 rue de Fleurus did not renew their lease, as his son wanted
to move into the apartment. They reluctantly relocated to another apartment on Germain Street in
Paris. I guess 27 got so historical, it just could not hold us any longer,[7] she said[8].
While in Bilignin during the summer of 1939 the war was quickly approaching.

An Educational Leadership Department At A Major Research...
Dayton and Shoto (2006) present a case study regarding an educational leadership department at a
major research university, faculty members have become disgruntled as a result of a declining
organizational culture fueled by a lack of leadership from an insecure departmental chairman. The
department itself had experienced a long standing positive history within the university, and was a
cash cow due to the number of credit hours, tuition funding per faculty, and local and state service
projects. Despite this background, the future of the faculty was uncertain, as their value to the
university had diminished and changes within the university were occurring to which they were
unresponsive.
Coupled with these changes, great tension and conflicts within the department signaled to the faculty
members that what had been was no more , that is, their world had changed and the positive
experiences that they had come to enjoy was no longer being afforded them. The department had a
cast of characters who as faculty members were miserable in their positions, did not like going into
work, and felt stuck professionally. They were at a loss in not being able to move forward. Their
interactions with each other had degenerated over time. The chairperson, Adolf Petty, who was an
unlikeable, hateful, bitter and jealous individual, focused on minor infractions by faculty members and
obsessed with rules, regulations, and hierarchy. After a no confidence vote at a faculty meeting, Petty

Essay On Should College Athletes Be Paid
College Athletes Pay for Play?
There have been ongoing arguments over the past decade of whether or not college athletes should be
paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the
sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full
scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the
argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play. College athletes are not forced
into playing the sport that they have devoted their time to during their years in secondary education.
They continue to play into the college level for their love of the game. ... Show more content on

Therefore leaving them limited time to find jobs that allow them to work around their tedious
scheduals.
One rule that the NCAA maintains, is that while its athletes are playing a school sport, they are not
allowed to use their talents playing for paying teams. To many this seems unfair as students who
participate in things such as the band or a singing group can use their talents in jobs such as lessons or
paid gigs that are available. However, student athletes are often offered jobs by the school to
participate as trainers or instructors in summer camps. The fact that they are already talented in the
sport that they are asked to instruct gives them an edge on others who may be looking to get the same
job, and therefore offers these students summer jobs without the hassle that others face finding work.
Also student athletes are given a monthly stipend to spend while they are on road trips, to pay for their
food, laundry, and other things. On average students are given 200 250 dollars a month, that they can
choose to do whatever like with. If the students wishes to keep the money and put it into a savings
account this does not violate any rules. (Fleck, buzzle.com) The NCAA also offers a special assistance
fund that was created in 1991. This fund allows for student athletes to be given up to 500 dollars a
year to

The Debatable Issue of Information Privacy on the Internet
Information privacy debate A2069336 Is the information on internet private? Do employers have a
right to access employee information on social media? Why or Why not? Information on the internet
is there for public scrutiny. Take for instance some of the information that is posted on ones social
networking site s profile like work and education, place of residence, relationship and family, contact
information, birthday, sex, and relationship status. These pieces of information can be easily accessed
by your friends and friend s friends. Besides much information can be found on people when googled.
Employers do have a right to access employee information on social media. The information obtained
from this media can be used in hiring and retention decisions. Social media contains a lot of publicly
available information that can be used to evaluate current and potential employers. To guard against
lawsuits that relate to negligent hiring and retention it is only practical that employers scrutinize
whoever they want to employ using social media (Elzweig Peeples, 2009). However, care has to be
taken to guard against liability for invading privacy of their current or potential employees. Many
social networking sites have privacy settings that only allow your friends or friend s friends to access
information about you. With default privacy settings, everybody, including potential employers, is
capable of getting crucial information on their would be employees and

TOPIC:
CHOICE OF LAW RULES RELATING TO PROPERTY IN CONFLICT OF LAWS WITH AN
EMPHASIS ON THE CASE OF RE MIDLETON S SETTLEMENT
INTRODUCTION
Conflict of laws involves situations when there is a foreign element in a case. There are three main
questions which arise for determination in conflict of laws: choice of jurisdiction, choice of law, and
recognition and enforcement of foreign judgment.
This work relates to choice of law rules in conflict of laws as regards property with a special emphasis
on the case of Re Midleton s Settlement.
Before delving into the principles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PRINCIPLES DERIVABLE FROM THE CASE
The law of the place were the property is situated (Lex situs) determines the characterization of
property when problems arise, if things that are physically movable are moved from a jurisdiction
which regards them as legally immovable to a jurisdiction which regards him as legally movable. The
new lex situs determines their character as held in the case of Re Hoyles.
Shares and securities are deemed to be situated in the place where between the shareholder and the
company, they can be effectively dealt with according to the law under which the company was
incorporated as held in R v WILLIAMS and BRASSARD v SMITH.
For equitable conversion to apply based on the principle of equity, which regards as done that which
ought to be done, there must be an obligation or a direction for sale as regards sale of land.
No country takes notice of the revenue laws of another. HOLMAN v JOHNSON per Lord Mansfield
and as stated in the case of MUNICIPAL CITY COUNCIL v BULL and GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
v TAYLOR by the House of Lords. This principle is applicable on the basis that the settled Land Act
1882, section 22(5) applicable in Ireland by virtue of the Irish free state constitution is only applicable
in Ireland and cannot be extended to apply to matters relating to English revenue that is English shares
securities, which are to be governed by English revenue law,

Inheritance
Inheritance between classes
A key feature of C++ classes is inheritance. Inheritance allows to create classes which are derived
from other classes, so that they automatically include some of its parent s members, plus its own. For
example, we are going to suppose that we want to declare a series of classes that describe polygons
like our CRectangle, or like CTriangle. They have certain common properties, such as both can be
described by means of only two sides: height and base.
This could be represented in the world of classes with a class CPolygon from which we would derive
the two other ones: CRectangle and CTriangle.
The class CPolygon would contain members that are common for both types of polygon. In our case:
width and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
} |
This public keyword after the colon (:) denotes the most accessible level the members inherited from
the class that follows it (in this case CPolygon) will have. Since public is the most accessible level, by
specifying this keyword the derived class will inherit all the members with the same levels they had in
the base class.
If we specify a more restrictive access level like protected, all public members of the base class are
inherited as protected in the derived class. Whereas if we specify the most restricting of all access
levels: private, all the base class members are inherited as private.
For example, if daughter was a class derived from mother that we defined as: | class daughter:
protected mother; |
This would set protected as the maximum access level for the members of daughter that it inherited
from mother. That is, all members that were public in mother would become protected indaughter. Of
course, this would not restrict daughter to declare its own public members. That maximum access
level is only set for the members inherited from mother.
If we do not explicitly specify any access level for the inheritance, the compiler assumes private for
classes declared with class keyword and public for those declared with struct.
What is inherited from the base class?
In principle, a

Our definition of an interest group id it has to be an organized group, seek to influence public policy, and they don t seek public office. Freedom Summer does not meet this definition alone, because it was a campaign, and not an organization, however SNCC (Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee) does. SNCC was an organized group. People had to apply to be a part of this group, there was leadership and they had a plan of who they were going to accomplish their goals. During Freedom summer they wanted to influence public policy, by the volunteers going out to register people to vote, they were causing attention on the issue of disenfranchisement of African Americans in the country, but more specifically Mississippi. Through initiative and optimism, West Ghent Civic League proposed to transition the bleak plot of land into a permanent park in the early 1990 s. 10 years and $1.5 million later, the park is now considered an open natural refuge for local residents and home for various wildlife living along the Elizabeth River. Granted Plum Point Park is an artificial park, there is still a lot of potentials that the park can amount to. Due to the lack of green spaces and aesthetically appealing areas throughout the park, the scenery can become very monotonous. Balance This was the reason I chose this game for my summative. The balance of this game is more chosen by the players than the actual game itself. The game is based off the players knowledge of each other. For example, you have teams of two people. You could either have people who ve known each other for years or people who have only just met and this would decide how well either team would do. I m not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it s designed with the intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing about this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the teams slightly and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned something new about the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and that is that after a lot of paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with them again you know the answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the players themselves could think of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this would mean there a more question in the game that haven t been answered before and therefore not make the game less fun for people who have played it a lot. Another way would be to introduce a rule where if a player guesses their teams answer wrong an opposing player can step in voluntarily and take a guess at their answer. if they get it right they get to move their piece the same amount of spaces forward as on the dice and get to start their turn there, but if they get it wrong they have to move back half the amount of spaces. the reason I say back half the amount of spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk. this would give players more incentive to try guess rather ... The first reason is that it makes financial sense in the short term. They think it is financially wise in some cases to walk away from your mortgage. The second reason is that banks account for this in their financial plans. So if banks account for people walking away from their loans this somehow makes it ok to do that? Aristotle s definition explains a tragic figure as a [great] man who is neither a paragon of virtue and justice nor undergoes the change to misfortune through any real badness or wickedness but because of some mistake. Aristotle defines a great man as a man of noble birth who is neither a model of perfection nor totally evil. He defines a mistake or hamartia as a flaw. The great man falls through though not entirely because of some weakness of character, some moral blindness, or error. Brutus fits this description, being a highly regarded ... It is also a physical manifestation of Dorian Gray s soul. This is its own form of ekphrasis: the portrait is describing his morality. It is achieving the effects that Dorian s physical form cannot. This adds yet another layer of complexity; a soul is being described by a painting, which is in turn being described to the reader. • 31. Book Of Hosea Essay The Book of Hosea is a story of God s redeeming love and forgiveness. In this story of the Yahwist prophet Hosea, the Lord Yahweh is speaking through Hosea. The sexual script of this story follows a distinct pattern of guilt, punishment, then forgiveness and acceptance. The guilt of Gomer as a harlot is justified by presenting the subjectivity of females to the judgements of authoritative male figures. Regardless of the morality or righteousness of Gomer s act, she is belittled and shamed for doing having sex with several men. The punishment follows as Gomer is stripped of her clothes and shamed in front of everyone. Yahweh s punishment even goes as far as a miscarrying womb and dry breasts, removing from women the power of life and procreation. This idea of punishment resonates again with the male figure having total and complete control over the female in all aspects of her daily engagements. Lastly we have forgiveness and acceptance. Hosea takes Gomer as his wife, ignoring all that she has committed in the sight of Yahweh. Hosea choosing Gomer as his wife considers the sins which she has committed. In March, Gertrude and Alice left Paris after a series of bombing alerts and zeppelin raids. They returned in 1916 and decided to help out with the war efforts by joining the American Fund for French Wounded.[6] In 1933, Stein published Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas which really was her own autobiography. It became a best seller in the United States and elevated Stein s celebrity. Many articles were published and she made a lot of money. Although hesitant at first because she did not know how she would be received, Stein went on a lecture tour across America. She was welcomed with open arms everywhere she went. Upon returning to France in the spring of 1935 Gertrude and Alice went to their country home in Bilignin for some privacy, away from Gertrude s new found celebrity status and rumors of war started again. In addition to this, the landlord of 27 rue de Fleurus did not renew their lease, as his son wanted to move into the apartment. They reluctantly relocated to another apartment on Germain Street in Paris. I guess 27 got so historical, it just could not hold us any longer,[7] she said[8]. • 40. An Educational Leadership Department At A Major Research... Dayton and Shoto (2006) present a case study regarding an educational leadership department at a major research university, faculty members have become disgruntled as a result of a declining organizational culture fueled by a lack of leadership from an insecure departmental chairman. The department itself had experienced a long standing positive history within the university, and was a cash cow due to the number of credit hours, tuition funding per faculty, and local and state service projects. Despite this background, the future of the faculty was uncertain, as their value to the university had diminished and changes within the university were occurring to which they were unresponsive. Coupled with these changes, great tension and conflicts within the department signaled to the faculty members that what had been was no more , that is, their world had changed and the positive experiences that they had come to enjoy was no longer being afforded them. The department had a cast of characters who as faculty members were miserable in their positions, did not like going into work, and felt stuck professionally. They were at a loss in not being able to move forward. Their interactions with each other had degenerated over time. The chairperson, Adolf Petty, who was an unlikeable, hateful, bitter and jealous individual, focused on minor infractions by faculty members and obsessed with rules, regulations, and hierarchy. After a no confidence vote at a faculty meeting, Petty was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Essay On Should College Athletes Be Paid College Athletes Pay for Play? There have been ongoing arguments over the past decade of whether or not college athletes should be paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play. College athletes are not forced into playing the sport that they have devoted their time to during their years in secondary education. They continue to play into the college level for their love of the game. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore leaving them limited time to find jobs that allow them to work around their tedious scheduals. One rule that the NCAA maintains, is that while its athletes are playing a school sport, they are not allowed to use their talents playing for paying teams. To many this seems unfair as students who participate in things such as the band or a singing group can use their talents in jobs such as lessons or paid gigs that are available. However, student athletes are often offered jobs by the school to participate as trainers or instructors in summer camps. The fact that they are already talented in the sport that they are asked to instruct gives them an edge on others who may be looking to get the same job, and therefore offers these students summer jobs without the hassle that others face finding work. Also student athletes are given a monthly stipend to spend while they are on road trips, to pay for their food, laundry, and other things. On average students are given 200 250 dollars a month, that they can choose to do whatever like with. If the students wishes to keep the money and put it into a savings account this does not violate any rules. (Fleck, buzzle.com) The NCAA also offers a special assistance fund that was created in 1991. This fund allows for student athletes to be given up to 500 dollars a year to ... Do employers have a right to access employee information on social media? Why or Why not? Information on the internet is there for public scrutiny. Take for instance some of the information that is posted on ones social networking site s profile like work and education, place of residence, relationship and family, contact information, birthday, sex, and relationship status. These pieces of information can be easily accessed by your friends and friend s friends. Besides much information can be found on people when googled. Employers do have a right to access employee information on social media. The information obtained from this media can be used in hiring and retention decisions. Social media contains a lot of publicly available information that can be used to evaluate current and potential employers. To guard against lawsuits that relate to negligent hiring and retention it is only practical that employers scrutinize whoever they want to employ using social media (Elzweig Peeples, 2009). However, care has to be taken to guard against liability for invading privacy of their current or potential employees. Many social networking sites have privacy settings that only allow your friends or friend s friends to access information about you. With default privacy settings, everybody, including potential employers, is capable of getting crucial information on their would be employees and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Inheritance Inheritance between classes A key feature of C++ classes is inheritance. Inheritance allows to create classes which are derived from other classes, so that they automatically include some of its parent s members, plus its own. For example, we are going to suppose that we want to declare a series of classes that describe polygons like our CRectangle, or like CTriangle. They have certain common properties, such as both can be described by means of only two sides: height and base. This could be represented in the world of classes with a class CPolygon from which we would derive the two other ones: CRectangle and CTriangle. The class CPolygon would contain members that are common for both types of polygon. In our case: width and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... } | This public keyword after the colon (:) denotes the most accessible level the members inherited from the class that follows it (in this case CPolygon) will have. Since public is the most accessible level, by specifying this keyword the derived class will inherit all the members with the same levels they had in the base class. If we specify a more restrictive access level like protected, all public members of the base class are inherited as protected in the derived class. Whereas if we specify the most restricting of all access levels: private, all the base class members are inherited as private. For example, if daughter was a class derived from mother that we defined as: | class daughter: protected mother; | This would set protected as the maximum access level for the members of daughter that it inherited from mother. That is, all members that were public in mother would become protected indaughter. Of course, this would not restrict daughter to declare its own public members. That maximum access level is only set for the members inherited from mother. If we do not explicitly specify any access level for the inheritance, the compiler assumes private for classes declared with class keyword and public for those declared with struct. What is inherited from the base class? In principle, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
