Opponents Of Gun Control In The United States
Opponents of gun control cite the Second Amendment as the most compelling defense for their
argument. Those who oppose strict gun regulation fear that gun control will infringe upon, law abiding
citizens Second Amendment right to bear arms (DiLascio). This is simply untrue. Article I, Section 8,
Clauses 15 and 16 of the Second Amendment state that the Constitution gives Congress the ability to
assemble a militia when national security is threatened and allows citizens to own firearms in order to
protect themselves from government oppression (Bowman and Newton). What one garners from this
information is that the Second Amendment was enacted in a purely military context. As Bowman
states, It is important to note that while the Second Amendment ... Show more content on

A CBS article by Robert Preidt, states, Compared to 22 other high income nations, the United States
gun related murder rate is 25 times higher. With such wide accessibility to powerful firearms,
Americans are at a much higher risk of gun violence. This statistic demonstrates that the United States
is far behind on gun legislation compared to other advanced nations in the world. AJ Willingham
states in his CNN article, From 1966 to 2012, nearly a third of the world s mass shootings took place
in the U.S. This is according to a 2016 study that used the FBI definition of mass shooting ... While
the U.S. has 5% of the world s population, it had 31% of all public mass shootings. The gun violence
epidemic in the United States is most notably highlighted in the statistic provided by Willingham.
Even though the United States has such a small population size compared to the rest of the world, the
gun violence rates are higher than any other nation. This demonstrates America s leniency in gun
legislation compared to other nations. England and Japan possess some of the tightest gun control
measures in the world while simultaneously featuring some of the lowest gun violence rates (Ballaro
and Finley). The correlation between strict gun control measures and gun related deaths is evident in
the statistics of other economic powers in the world, so why has the United States not taken measures
to strengthen gun legislation? Similarly, Beverly Ballaro states in her article, In 2008, Mayors Against
Illegal Guns, a bipartisan group of 300 US mayors, found that homicides from handguns were highest
in states with the most lenient gun laws. This statistic coincides with the previous data concerning
strict gun control measures and the correlation with gun related deaths. By increasing gun control, the
gun related deaths in the

Comparison Of Susan Bordo And The Male Body
People tend to views an image based on how society say it should be they tend to interpret the image
on those assumption, but never their own assumptions. Susan Bordo and John Berger writes an
argumentative essay in relation to how viewing images have an effect on the way we interpret images.
Moreover, these arguments come into union to show what society plants into our minds acts itself out
when viewing pictures. Both Susan Bordo and John Berger shows that based on assumptions this is
what causes us to perceive an image in a certain way. Learning assumption plays into our everyday
lives and both authors bring them into reality. In Susan Bordo s Beauty (Re)discover The Male Body,

Berger is talking about people look at a piece art and expect to know the personality of the people
portrayed. Thus, Bordo is stating how society work upon us saying its ok for women to be naked and
not male in advertisement. In comparison, both authors formulated learning assumptions through their
work by writing with assumption. Berger essay is filled with written assumption offered to his reader
as guides to flow alone with work. Berger present this assumption, Assumptions concerning: Beauty,
truth, genius, civilization, form, status, taste, etc. (Berger 143). He make it understandable that we go
looking for a category of feature when looking at a piece of art instead of looking at its originality as a
whole master piece. Bordo write with assumption through advertisements. She say, It used to be that
one could tell a lot about gender and race from looking at ads (Bordo 208). Bordo have even been a
victim of learning assumptions herself. She is giving her read that past vs. future ratio, since in the

Vincent Van Gogh And His Life
In essence of this twenty first (21st) Century, the life of Vincent Van Gogh; has become more of a
legend with a substantial figure among painters and western art in the society today. Vincent Van Gogh
is said to be a person with persevering characteristics due to all the failures he encountered in his
career path from being a minister like his father to dealing in arts like his uncle (Blumer,2002) before
becoming the successful painter, we all acknowledge in the world today. However, Vincent Van Gogh
is practically known to be the subject discussed in midst of artists, historians, and psychologists
worldwide based on his artworks, his mental health issues and cutting off his left ear.
In brief, Vincent Willem Van Gogh is a well known Dutch post impressionist painter, born to an
austere country ministering father, and an artistic mother on March 30, 1853, in Groot Zundert,
Netherlands, and died as a result of gunshot wound to the chest in the arms of his brother Theo on July
29, 1890 in Auvers sur Oise, France (Vincent, n.d.). In the wake of recent discoveries, there have been
speculations whether the death of Vincent Van Gogh was a suicidal or murderous act; which implies
whether Van Gogh shot himself or someone else did (Smith Naifeh, 2014). It is believed the death of
Van Gogh is yet a mystery basically lingering around to be solved. Nevertheless, Vincent Van Gogh
was the oldest of his siblings, three sisters and two brothers; despite the fact his mother lost her

Blue Angel Themes
The Blue Angel Movie (1930) The movie The Blue Angel (1930) introduces some important themes
that can be discussed. First, the characteristics of the bad teacher can be found in this film. A second
theme illustrated in the movie is that of the nature and significance of the unconstrained informal
communication. Third, the theme of the role of the teacher in society can be considered. The Blue
Angel is one of the most important movies in the history of German cinema because it is the first
German sound movie. In the beginning of the movie, the viewers can see the interaction between
Professor Immanuel Rath and Lola Lola. Although the focus is on the seduction of the woman,
different themes can be discussed regarding the relationship between teachers and students at that
time. The start of the movie shows the characteristics of the bad teacher . The Professor is a bad
teacher because he does not know how to handle his students. For example, when they read a passage
from Hamlet, Professor interrupts the student who reads a piece from the play. The reason for that is
because the student cannot pronounce the word the correctly. Even if this is the case, a good teacher is
not supposed to react in such a way. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Professor also visits the cabaret, which in one way or another shows the teacher in an informal light.
The unconstrained informal communication can help the students relate better to their teacher. They
can also get to know one another better in an informal atmosphere such as that of the cabaret. Being a
friend with the students is helpful, but it seems that the Professor is not much friendly with his

The Importance Of Honor Veterans In America
Why do we honor veterans in America? The veterans of America need to be honored due to them
risking their lives for many others. They also have to give up their time with family and friends. They
have to deal with the many deaths either from their side of the battlefield or the other. Now with them
doing these thing we are able to live without fear in the world. Also veterans must know that their
lives would never be the same ever again. That is due to the war doing things to their brains causing
them to act differently than normal. America would be really nothing without the veterans of America.
Veterans can help prepare young soldiers for the pain they will have to go through during their

Recyclability Of Recycling
Although there are numerous benefits to recycling such as a whole job and market industry and
environmental conservation, majority of these benefits cannot be accessed without the participation of
the public. Unfortunately, a large majority of the general population does not recycle mostly because
of the time it takes to simply sort recyclables or take to a drop off facility. Therefore, a new system
should be put in place and spread to increase the recycling participation to completely access the
benefits of recycling and to reach a strong level of sustainability. Thankfully, most people are
motivated by money or lack thereof, so a deposit system would motivate more people to recycle by
giving them the choice to make their money back and recycle or simply lose money. Additionally, this
deposit system would motivate the public because they would simply input a relatively low time cost
for a financial reward. Because of these known motivational trends, the deposit system will
definitively improve the recycling participation rate leading to increased environmental conservation
and a solid level of sustainability. Although the deposit system seems very complicated, it involves a
very simple idea with a clear goal of increasing the recycling participation rate. Under the deposit
system, when a customer buys a water bottle or another material depending on the restriction and laws
of the state, the customer would pay an additional set dollar amount such as five cents. If the

By getting a veteran to talk about what they have experienced in the military is hard because they see
and experience things that no human being should every have to go through. Some of our veterans see
and experience things on a deployment that no one should ever experience, some people have no

whose life is worth more the child s life or the life of themselves and the fellow military members.
Other people go through hazing of forms that our not seen on the news ever unless it is so bad that it

The 7 Deadly Sins and 7 Cardinal Virtues
The 7 Deadly Sins and 7 Cardinal Virtues
========================================
Overview
The Seven Deadly Sins , also known as the Capital Vices or Cardinal Sins , are a classification of
vices that were originally used in early Christian teachings to educate and instruct followers
concerning (immoral) fallen man s tendency to sin. The Roman Catholic Church divided sin into two
principal categories: venial , which are relatively minor, and could be forgiven through any sacrament
of the Church, and the more severe capital or mortal sins, which, when committed, destroyed the life
of grace, and created the threat of eternal damnation unless either absolved through the sacrament of
confession, or otherwise forgiven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Substance abuse or binge drinking can be seen as examples of gluttony therefore. The penitents in the
Purgatorio were forced to stand between two trees, unable to reach or eat the fruit hanging from either,
and were thus described as having a starved appearance.
== Greed (Latin: avaritia)
Synonyms: Greed (treachery, covetousness)
Greed is, like Lust and Gluttony, a sin of excess. However, Greed (as seen by the Church) applied to
the acquisition of wealth in particular. Thomas Aquinas wrote that Greed was a sin against God, just as
all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things. In Dante s
Purgatory, the penitents were bound and laid face down on the ground for having concentrated too
much on earthly thoughts. Avarice is more of a blanket term that can describe many other examples of
sinful behavior. These include disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, or treason, especially for personal gain,
for example through bribery. Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery,
especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be
inspired by greed. Such misdeeds can include Simony, where one profits from soliciting goods within
the actual confines of a church.
== Sloth (Latin: acedia)
Synonyms: Sloth (laziness, sadness, apathy)
More than other sins, the definition of Sloth has changed considerably since its original inclusion
among The Seven Deadly Sins. It

most of them were from different parts of Africa. They believe in god and believe that he was the king
of the universe, I could tell by the way they sing and the way they participated. They also believe in
Jesus, based on how they had the statue of Jesus in the center of the church. They also saw each other
as a community, as a church. They all looked really united and even though many of them didn t knew
each other they great each other like they did, because that probably might be a norm for them.

What Is A Marching Band Essay
What is marching band? A marching band show is arranged musical show that utilizes both bodies and
a variety of instruments. While spectators see this unique show they don t often realize how much
work actually goes into a halftime performance. Band members must analyze every moment and focus
on hitting their notes while getting to their designated spot on the field.
A marching band show is a moving picture; something completely different. It s a little bit of math and
theatre and obviously music.
Learning to get to the right mark on the field while hitting the right note on a musical instrument takes
a lot of sacrifice, hard work, preparation and teamwork. It takes a gifted and dedicated student to play
high quality and performance ready music. In a marching band, that same student accomplishes
physically rigorous and complex drills, keeps the music coming and balances between multiple hours
of practice each week along with academics and other responsibilities such as work, family and other

essentialness after the war got done with, obliging John Philip Sousa to take his band on tour. His

Role Of Weather In The Great Gatsby
It s More Than Just Rain or Snow In reality the weather and environment play a part in how people
interact with one another and in some cases it can even influence a person s mood. Therefore, weather
also plays a similar role in literature as it does in reality. The only difference is that in literature the
significance of weather impacts the story more and has much sub contextual meaning than what is just
portrayed on the surface level. Within different stories different types of weather can symbolize
different things. In the novel, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald uses fog to serve as a
symbol for Gatsby s and Daisy s relationship. His choice for using fog as a symbol of their
relationship is because it obscures Gatsby s vision of the green light on Daisy s house which, for
Gatsby, it acts as a beacon letting him know where Daisy is. Also, it acts as a method of
foreshadowment. Realistically, fog obscures one s vision and it renders the viewer blind to what s
around them due to the fact that the fog encapsulates the person in a visual area that is generally only

Comparing Martin Luther King Jr. And Pay It Forward
A hero is defined as a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities (Merriam
Webster). It is also is stated that the hero is typically a man. As a woman, I am greatly offended.
Joseph Campbell, however, is less sexist and defines a hero as someone who makes a sacrifice in
order to complete an action. Martin Luther King Jr. sacrificed his life and his family s life while he
was marching the streets against the discrimination of African Americans. Benefitting from his actions
and sacrifice is every colored person in America at that time and since. Martin Luther King Jr. is a
magnificent hero. According to Campbell, Hitler was also an extraordinary hero. Hitler sacrificed his
life and reputation in order to murder and torture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

humanity, and for fairness in equality in their lyrics. They risk their fans and reputation but they

Arguments Against Veganism
Ever since the beginning of time, man has hunted and consumed animals for survival. Because of this,
it is been taught for millennials that meat is an essential to our bodies for survival and health. While
we are capable of eating meat, the question is, should we? Firstly, humans do not need to eat meat, or
any other animal products for that matter, for survival. Modern day humans are not living in the same
conditions as early humans were, making it unnecessary for us to consume animal products. We no
longer need to rely on animals for consumption, and in fact, it is actually best to leave them absent
from your diet. Numerous amounts of studies have been conducted that support the claim that
consuming animal products is detrimental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most common arguments is that our ancestors ate it, so so should we. Humans have had
omnivorous diets since the beginning of mankind, and this has been an argument that is oftenly used
against veganism. Early humans were scavengers and ate whatever they could find for the purpose of
survival and it is believed that humans ate a majority of meat, however scientific studies have shown
otherwise. In a study conducted, plant derived fiber was the majority of what was found in early
human feces (nutritionfacts.org). Vegaprocity (vegaprocity.com) shows that both carnivores and
omnivores require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, while all herbivores, frugivores, and humans do
require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, however in America, usually less than half the recommended fiber
intake a day is consumed (nutritionfacts.org). While there is no denial that early humans did not hunt
and eat animals, this suggests that the majority of what was ate ate was not meat, but in fact plants and
herbs. When compared to carnivores, humans show more similarity to herbivores and frugivores. One
of the common arguments used in opposition to veganism is that humans are supposed to eat meat
because the mechanism of our body suggest so. This, however, is false. When compared to carnivores
and herbivores, humans share far more similarities with herbivores. To begin with, humans have short

Hydrogen Extraction Process For The Recovery Of Heavy Oil...
Abstract
Vapor extraction process for the recovery of heavy oil and bitumen was originally proposed by Dr.
Butler during 1989 1991. Since its evolution, vapor extraction has emerged as a very effective and
promising technique mainly due to its environment friendly nature and cost effectiveness as compared
to other recovery techniques. Vapex is basically an in situ recovery process which injects a vaporized
hydrocarbon solvent in the injection well to reduce the viscosity the heavy oil and bitumen and allows
it to drain out of the production well through gravity drainage. Mass transfer of vaporized solvent to
heavy oil and the gravity drainage are the key parameters which mainly determine the production rate
of heavy oil and bitumen with reduced viscosity. This report provides a brief idea about the current
heavy oil and bitumen deposits in Canada, a better insight of the Vapex process and the factors which
affect the efficiency of the process. Several factors that scale up the performance of the process and
important limitations are also indentified that need further research for future growth of the process.
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Energy is the most important factor for growth and development. Petroleum being the primary source
of energy can be categorized into conventional and non conventional forms based on the viscosity and
API gravity. Heavy oil and Bitumen are the non conventional forms of energy which are often referred
as oil sands or tar sands having high

Analysis Of The Lamb By William Blake
Introduction/Thesis Just like the lamb that was born into this world through a virgin and was
sacrificed for all mankind, this same lamb made us and called us by his name. In his poem The Lamb,
William Blake clearly uses repetition, personification, and symbolism to describe his religious beliefs
and how a pure sacrifice is portrayed by a little lamb. Laura Quinney s book, William Blake on Self
and Soul, shows the religious side of Blake when it says, Blake makes this argument in his address To
the Deists, where he insists Man must will have Some Religion; if he has not the Religion of Jesus, he
will have the Religion of Satan (Quinney, 2009). Blake uses his religious view to show us he believes
that our creator is the Lamb of God. He distinctively uses the innocence and purity of a little lamb and
how its creator clearly takes care of it. The lamb is fed, given water by the stream and a bidden a
blessed life.
Repetition
To begin with, Blake s use of repetition intensifies the significance of our creator and all he has done
for us, as well as the sacrificial giving of life, food, and clothing as would a parent sacrificing for a
little child. Blake s reoccurrence of the questions, Little Lamb who made thee? and Dost thou know
who made thee? shows the importance of creation of the little lamb. He answers the questions
repetitiously by saying, Little Lamb I ll tell thee, Little Lamb I ll tell thee! (Blake, 1988). The answer

The Efficacy Of The Myers Briggs Type Indicator

An Evaluation of the Reliability of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an evaluative personality tool that is widely used
throughout the world today. It is important for a tool that is popularly utilized in a variety of fields and
at numerous professional institutions worldwide to be a credible one. So, is the MBTI really the valid
reliable personality inventory instrument it claims to be? Evaluating this tool will show that
empirically sound evidence does not exist to support the MBTI as an accurate, reliable, or valid
instrument for profiling one s personality type.
The MBTI questionnaire was created by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs
Myers. Their collaborative work to develop this measurement of personality was inspired by to the
writings/work of Carl Jung (more specifically his book entitled Psychological Type). This mother and
daughter s shared fascination and interest in type theory led them to create the MBTI in the early
1940s as a test to be used for personnel selection. Myers believed that different occupations favored
different personality orientations, and that Jung s theory provided a theoretical link between
personality and job performance (Pittenger, 1993). It is important to note that it was Myers belief that

Theme Of Birds In Macbeth
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, Shakespeare often uses a motif of birds in order to foreshadow
future events and relationships. Shakespeare achieves this by likening two influential characters,
Macbeth and Macduff, to an owl and a crow, respectively, as well as using references to other types of
birds in order to set a tone.
The first major mention of birds occurs when Duncan and his entourage arrive at Dunsinane, about
which Banquo remarks that The temple haunting martlet... Hath made his pendant bed and procreant
cradle. / Where they most breed and haunt, I have observed / The air is delicate. (1.6.4 10).
Shakespeare includes this detail in order to illustrate Dunsinane in a time of peace, before it becomes a
beacon of violence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Great Metaphysical Chain of Being, the falcon is the supreme bird who rules over all
of the others, with the owl ranking a few notches below it. The death of the falcon at the owl s hand
illustrates that the natural order of things has been disrupted, a situation that bears resemblance to
what has just occurred at Dunsinane, with king Duncan having been murdered by Macbeth, a man
who was beneath him in terms of power. This parallel between the upset in nature and the upset that
occurred at Dunsinane reinforces the idea that the owl symbolizes Macbeth. In the second scene of the
third act, after speaking with the murderers in order to plan Banquo s death, Macbeth pronounces that
night s black agents to their preys do rouse. The phrase night s black agents refers to a predator that
hunts at night, which yet again is the owl, with Banquo likely being the metaphorical prey. This is
probably the most blatant of the hints that the owl symbolizes Macbeth, as Macbeth makes this
comment in full knowledge that Banquo will soon be murdered indirectly by his hand. In that same
scene, the crow is first mentioned when Macbeth remarks upon how light thickens, and the crow
makes wing to the rooky wood (3.2.50 51). This allusion to the crow is significant because it is here
that the parallels between the crow and Macduff begin to form. Just a few scenes prior, in act two

Maple Flag Research Paper
The Creation Of The Maple Leaf Flag Flags have symbolized and represented countries for hundreds
of years. Canada has had multiple flag changes since Confederation from the Union Jack to the Red
Ensign. However, a new flag was announced, and has been Canada s flag ever since. Creator of the
peacekeepers and future Prime Minister Lester Pearson had successfully convinced Canadians that
Canada was in need of a brand new flag. That flag has changed Canada s identity as an independent
nation by removing British influences and uniting all Canadians.
First of all, numerous people in Canada have been wanting a flag change for a long time. The main
event that caused Canada s flag change is the Suez Crisis. For instance, Britain has been using the ...

symbol that will be remembered as a true symbol of Canada. Pearson imaged the flag to be ideally
Canadian with symbols of objects found in Canada. Furthermore, countless suggestions contained the
symbol of the maple leaf as it has been Canada s symbol for many years. This can be seen in a few
select choices such as the Pearson Pennant designed by Alan Beddoe. There had been thousands of
unique ideas generated by Canadians of all ages, but the choice for Canada s new flag had come down
to the final top two. Likewise, the Maple Leaf and the Pearson Pennant became Canada s ultimate
choice for its national flag. After a prolonged period of time, the decision was settled over a debate in
the House of Commons on December 15, 1964 at 2:00 a.m. The results were 163 to 78 in favour of the
Maple Leaf flag. Additionally, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the II signed the royal proclamation on
January 28, 1965. Furthermore, the Maple Leaf flag was raised on Parliament Hill for the first time on
February 15, 1965. This was seen as a long lasting change as the flag still flies today and may be

The Schlieffen Plan For World War II
When war was declared in 1914, the Germans had devised a plan to avoid fighting war on two fronts
against both, Russia and France; the Schlieffen Plan. The plan however, did not solve Germany s
problem of a two front war and the leadership of Helmuth von Moltke determined its failure, to a great
extent but not entirely; erroneous assumptions that the plan was based on and countless mistakes made
on the battlefield also contributed to its lack of success.
The Schlieffen Plan was devised to prevent fighting war on two fronts, against France and Russia,
aiming to defeat France before Russia could Mobilize. Both J.M Winter (1993, pg. 60) and M.
McAndrew et al.(1997, pg. 56) agreed The plan was devised by Count Alfred von Schlieffen, Chief of

Schlieffen had decided that the German forces were to advance into France via the undefended plains
of neutral Belgium. Captain B. Morgan (2001, Pg.6), researcher at the USA Naval War Collage stated
that if France were to attack Germany at Alsace Lorraine Germany would have 48 divisions positioned
at the border to hold the French off. While the remaining two thirds of the army, also know as the right
flank entered France via Belgium. Then swing northwest around Paris and fold back upon the rear of
the French forces, enveloping and crushing them against the forces of the German left flank. The key
to the plan s success and its primary strength was its sheer boldness in its swiftness and the quick
defeat of France. Ken Webb (2012, pg.5), author of World War I From Sarajevo to Versailles
commented that Schlieffen believed that the swing through Belgium had to be massive and rapid for
the plan to be able to achieve such swiftness if the planned needed to be complete in forty two days
before Russian Mobilization.
General Moltke s Leadership and modification of the Schlieffen plan impacted the success of the plan
greatly. He made a series of crucial alterations to the original plan, which proved unsuccessful. B.

Henry Morton Stanley s The Man With The Yellow Hat
Along with our beloved monkey, the story also follows a man, the Man with the Yellow Hat. For most

African while the Man with the Yellow Hat Represent Sir Henry Morton Stanley one of the men that
helped facilitate the subjugation.

These were ruses to cheat the people out of their land. Once they stopped working Stanley and his
man would force submission from the chiefs which got them land and a workforce. His methods
continued to become more and more brutal. For example, if one of the workers made a mistake he
would have their hand cut off. Pretty soon he had the conquered the whole country and got his king

personally by the king not the country of Belgium.
In the Congo, the king was able to make his fortune through rubber and mining. The workforce as

would kidnap women and children as an incentive for the men.

What Are The Stereotypes Of Teen Drivers Essay
Teen Drivers over time have become three times more likely to become involved in a fatal vehicular
accident. This statistic often leads to the negative stereotype of teen drivers. However, one must ask
why are teens more likely to be involved vehicular accidents rather than any other age group. It would
seem that they might have quicker reaction times, and even the ability to pay attention to the road and
others around them more. However, these young drivers often attend school for eight hours,
participate in extracurricular activities, and then some teens even work part time even full time jobs.
Therefore, they drive later and later, creating difficulties on top of the lack of experience, for example
exhaustion, and distractions whether the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some suggestions have been to increase the driving age to twenty one and older, however, the lack of
experience would be heightened with a possible increase of driving under the influence since the legal
drinking age is twenty one. Therefore, instead of raising the driving age why doesn t the state, or even
community create a mandatory Driver s Ed class, one for learning about driving and another for
actually driving. This is due to the idea that teens are more likely to see the errors of their classmates
and not want to make the same mistake, or see what to do in certain situations that a teen might not
know about. For example, the majority of teens aren t actually taught about what to do in case one s
car starts hydroplaning, which is crucial for not only the driver but anyone around them on the road
safety. This is due to how the cars wheels have no traction on the ground and if they accelerate, or
brake they could lose control of their car even more so than they already had. Thus, providing a
mandatory class for graduation for students aged sixteen through nineteen will give them the
opportunity to gain experience and knowledge, so that they have a decreased chance of being involved

Medieval And Millennial
Medieval to Millennial A Pilgrimage of Meaning
In the Medieval times, many Christians went on pilgrimages to venerate sacred objects or places. They
traveled around Europe visiting churches and taking treasures with them to set at the sites they visited.
During this time, there was an influential emperor who touch much of Europe with a renewing hand.
Emperor Charlemagne built an empire embodied with the mission to unify the people, attempting to
create one European religion and convert pagan tribes to Christianity. Europe needed a revival in his
eyes and so he set out to promote education and literacy. Charlemagne s empire created religious unity
throughout Europe through architecture, music, and literature which brought meaning to his life; today
people bring similar meaning to their lives thought the arts they encounter.
On December 25th in the year 800, Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne the emperor of the Franks,
leading to his Carolingian empire influence and creating the Holy Roman Empire. Charlemagne s
motivation for his empire was Renovatio Romani Imperii, which translates into Renewal of the
Roman Empire. This was a two pronged approach through religion in both culture and intellect. In an
increasingly pagan world, Charlemagne created meaning by saving Christianity through establishing
unity of the church throughout Europe. It is thought that by his work renewing the faith, enough
people came to know of it and the culture that it stood the test of time.

Through his music, which was influenced by black artists, he allowed white Americans to view a new

Elvis s music allowed them to be able to hear the amazing sound that came from this specific type of

adults believed that Elvis dressed like a black person. He would wear baggy pants, leather jackets and
a pink shirt with its collar up. More white teenagers would start to wear more types of clothing like
this. White teenagers started to shop in stores that were owned by black businessmen. This was
something that was just simply never done. Elvis s dancing was the last part of him that would cause

was the start of the African American culture being mixed with mainstream culture. Teens would

Television s Effects on the Natural Environment Essay
Television s Effects on the Natural Environment You may be thinking, How on earth could the TV
have an affect on our natural environment? and you have every right to. At first glance, it may seem
impossible that the TV can have an effect on our natural surroundings; but, nevertheless, it does.
One of the ways that the TV can have an effect on our surroundings is by the amount of power that is
needed to run all of the TV s in the world. I realize, that compared to other appliances, a television
does not use a huge amount of energy. But think about this: almost every family in America has at
least one TV if not more (some people that I know have upwards of 6 and 7). Can you imagine the
power it must take to run all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You ve seen some examples of the bad; now let us focus on the good.
These same people that I have just talked about above can also help the environment. Scientists who
make documentaries can be very helpful to the environment as well. If they are able to travel into the
wilderness to study animals and wildlife, a video camera can be a useful tool. The scientists, with the
help of a video camera, can record their observations of these animals and view them later on a
television or place them on television where others, who were not able to travel to the particular
location, can watch and observe these animals as well. The ability to do this helps the environment in
two ways: 1) It helps scientists and other experts understand our natural world much better enabling
them to help preserve it, and it 2) promotes education of the environment to those who are not
scientists. As you can see, the TV has an effect on our environment for good and bad, even though it
may be indirect.
When I say natural environment, you probably only think about the ways in which it affects our land
and animals, but there is another aspect: human health. Television has had a great impact on human
health since its invention in 1926. Americans, and humans in general, spend huge amounts of time
watching television each year. When people watch TV, they are giving up time in which they could be
exercising. As a consequence of this lack of exercise,

True Grit Movie
The True Grit film was directed by Henry Hathaway in 1969, and the novel was published in 1968 by
Charles Portis. Mattie Ross is the main character featured in the novel, but she does not have the
principal role in the film due to the lead of Rooster Cogburn played by John Wayne. In the novel,
Mattie is portrayed as a character who is advanced for her age, brave and not letting anything stop her,
but in the movie she seems childish at times. Mattie is a fourteen year old girl who goes on an
adventure to seek revenge on the man who killed her father. Two other characters named Rooster
Cogburn and Laboeuf travel with Mattie on this adventure. The man who murdered her father is
named Tom Chaney. One day Tom came riding a horse that had a dirty blanket he was using as a
saddle, and he was also starving. Mattie s father then decides to give him a job on their property and
let him live in the cotton house. During both the novel and the film, Mattie brings out a side of bravery
that viewers or readers might wish they could be like. For example, when she has something on her
mind, she doesn t let anyone stop her from achieving the goal she set her mind to. She can accomplish
any of her goals even though she has acts of being childish in the film but that does not occur in the
novel. In the film, Mattie travels with two others to find Chaney. Along the way, Mattie sometimes has
acts of childishness. She is almost demanding in a way as if she does not have something, it will be

Ethics and Intellectual Property
Ethics and Intellectual Property
Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works;
designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce (United States Patent and Trademark
Office, 2013). There are many ethical issues that have arisen in the business world today pertaining to
intellectual property. Some people may not think that it is important to protect intellectual property
however, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) does just that. Intellectual property
is protected in law by, for example, patents, copyright and trademarks, which enable people to earn
recognition or financial benefit from what they invent or create (United States Patent and Trademark
Office). Protecting trademarks and logos is important, as these things are rightfully owned by the
person or company which created them. Many companies are known by their intellectual property,
such as symbols, names and logos. It can also be very costly to have these artistic logos created,
making it more frustrating when someone chooses to copy or steal the logo and use it as their own.
Ethical Issues
Businesses generally have attorneys to represent them or advise them on business law, and to read
documentation to ensure there are no legal issues. There can be ethical issues when consulting with an
attorney who represents another business that may have similar intellectual property as another
business. In the licensing journal, it

  • 2. Opponents Of Gun Control In The United States Opponents of gun control cite the Second Amendment as the most compelling defense for their argument. Those who oppose strict gun regulation fear that gun control will infringe upon, law abiding citizens Second Amendment right to bear arms (DiLascio). This is simply untrue. Article I, Section 8, Clauses 15 and 16 of the Second Amendment state that the Constitution gives Congress the ability to assemble a militia when national security is threatened and allows citizens to own firearms in order to protect themselves from government oppression (Bowman and Newton). What one garners from this information is that the Second Amendment was enacted in a purely military context. As Bowman states, It is important to note that while the Second Amendment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A CBS article by Robert Preidt, states, Compared to 22 other high income nations, the United States gun related murder rate is 25 times higher. With such wide accessibility to powerful firearms, Americans are at a much higher risk of gun violence. This statistic demonstrates that the United States is far behind on gun legislation compared to other advanced nations in the world. AJ Willingham states in his CNN article, From 1966 to 2012, nearly a third of the world s mass shootings took place in the U.S. This is according to a 2016 study that used the FBI definition of mass shooting ... While the U.S. has 5% of the world s population, it had 31% of all public mass shootings. The gun violence epidemic in the United States is most notably highlighted in the statistic provided by Willingham. Even though the United States has such a small population size compared to the rest of the world, the gun violence rates are higher than any other nation. This demonstrates America s leniency in gun legislation compared to other nations. England and Japan possess some of the tightest gun control measures in the world while simultaneously featuring some of the lowest gun violence rates (Ballaro and Finley). The correlation between strict gun control measures and gun related deaths is evident in the statistics of other economic powers in the world, so why has the United States not taken measures to strengthen gun legislation? Similarly, Beverly Ballaro states in her article, In 2008, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a bipartisan group of 300 US mayors, found that homicides from handguns were highest in states with the most lenient gun laws. This statistic coincides with the previous data concerning strict gun control measures and the correlation with gun related deaths. By increasing gun control, the gun related deaths in the ... Berger essay is filled with written assumption offered to his reader as guides to flow alone with work. • 4. Vincent Van Gogh And His Life In essence of this twenty first (21st) Century, the life of Vincent Van Gogh; has become more of a legend with a substantial figure among painters and western art in the society today. Vincent Van Gogh is said to be a person with persevering characteristics due to all the failures he encountered in his career path from being a minister like his father to dealing in arts like his uncle (Blumer,2002) before becoming the successful painter, we all acknowledge in the world today. However, Vincent Van Gogh is practically known to be the subject discussed in midst of artists, historians, and psychologists worldwide based on his artworks, his mental health issues and cutting off his left ear. In brief, Vincent Willem Van Gogh is a well known Dutch post impressionist painter, born to an austere country ministering father, and an artistic mother on March 30, 1853, in Groot Zundert, Netherlands, and died as a result of gunshot wound to the chest in the arms of his brother Theo on July 29, 1890 in Auvers sur Oise, France (Vincent, n.d.). In the wake of recent discoveries, there have been speculations whether the death of Vincent Van Gogh was a suicidal or murderous act; which implies whether Van Gogh shot himself or someone else did (Smith Naifeh, 2014). It is believed the death of Van Gogh is yet a mystery basically lingering around to be solved. • 5. Blue Angel Themes The Blue Angel Movie (1930) The movie The Blue Angel (1930) introduces some important themes that can be discussed. First, the characteristics of the bad teacher can be found in this film. A second theme illustrated in the movie is that of the nature and significance of the unconstrained informal communication. Third, the theme of the role of the teacher in society can be considered. The Blue Angel is one of the most important movies in the history of German cinema because it is the first German sound movie. In the beginning of the movie, the viewers can see the interaction between Professor Immanuel Rath and Lola Lola. Although the focus is on the seduction of the woman, different themes can be discussed regarding the relationship between teachers and students at that time. The start of the movie shows the characteristics of the bad teacher . The Professor is a bad teacher because he does not know how to handle his students. For example, when they read a passage from Hamlet, Professor interrupts the student who reads a piece from the play. The reason for that is because the student cannot pronounce the word the correctly. Even if this is the case, a good teacher is not supposed to react in such a way. The ... • 7. Recyclability Of Recycling Although there are numerous benefits to recycling such as a whole job and market industry and environmental conservation, majority of these benefits cannot be accessed without the participation of the public. Unfortunately, a large majority of the general population does not recycle mostly because of the time it takes to simply sort recyclables or take to a drop off facility. Therefore, a new system should be put in place and spread to increase the recycling participation to completely access the benefits of recycling and to reach a strong level of sustainability. Thankfully, most people are motivated by money or lack thereof, so a deposit system would motivate more people to recycle by giving them the choice to make their money back and recycle or simply lose money. Additionally, this deposit system would motivate the public because they would simply input a relatively low time cost for a financial reward. Because of these known motivational trends, the deposit system will definitively improve the recycling participation rate leading to increased environmental conservation and a solid level of sustainability. Although the deposit system seems very complicated, it involves a very simple idea with a clear goal of increasing the recycling participation rate. Under the deposit system, when a customer buys a water bottle or another material depending on the restriction and laws of the state, the customer would pay an additional set dollar amount such as five cents. The 7 Deadly Sins and 7 Cardinal Virtues The 7 Deadly Sins and 7 Cardinal Virtues ======================================== Overview The Seven Deadly Sins , also known as the Capital Vices or Cardinal Sins , are a classification of vices that were originally used in early Christian teachings to educate and instruct followers concerning (immoral) fallen man s tendency to sin. The Roman Catholic Church divided sin into two principal categories: venial , which are relatively minor, and could be forgiven through any sacrament of the Church, and the more severe capital or mortal sins, which, when committed, destroyed the life of grace, and created the threat of eternal damnation unless either absolved through the sacrament of confession, or otherwise forgiven ... The penitents in the Purgatorio were forced to stand between two trees, unable to reach or eat the fruit hanging from either, and were thus described as having a starved appearance. == Greed (Latin: avaritia) Synonyms: Greed (treachery, covetousness) Greed is, like Lust and Gluttony, a sin of excess. However, Greed (as seen by the Church) applied to the acquisition of wealth in particular. Thomas Aquinas wrote that Greed was a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things. In Dante s Purgatory, the penitents were bound and laid face down on the ground for having concentrated too much on earthly thoughts. Avarice is more of a blanket term that can describe many other examples of sinful behavior. These include disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, or treason, especially for personal gain, for example through bribery. Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery, especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by greed. Such misdeeds can include Simony, where one profits from soliciting goods within the actual confines of a church. == Sloth (Latin: acedia) Synonyms: Sloth (laziness, sadness, apathy) More than other sins, the definition of Sloth has changed considerably since its original inclusion among The Seven Deadly Sins. Role Of Weather In The Great Gatsby It s More Than Just Rain or Snow In reality the weather and environment play a part in how people interact with one another and in some cases it can even influence a person s mood. Therefore, weather also plays a similar role in literature as it does in reality. The only difference is that in literature the significance of weather impacts the story more and has much sub contextual meaning than what is just portrayed on the surface level. Within different stories different types of weather can symbolize different things. In the novel, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald uses fog to serve as a symbol for Gatsby s and Daisy s relationship. His choice for using fog as a symbol of their relationship is because it obscures Gatsby s vision of the green light on Daisy s house which, for Gatsby, it acts as a beacon letting him know where Daisy is. Also, it acts as a method of foreshadowment. Abstract Vapor extraction process for the recovery of heavy oil and bitumen was originally proposed by Dr. Butler during 1989 1991. Since its evolution, vapor extraction has emerged as a very effective and promising technique mainly due to its environment friendly nature and cost effectiveness as compared to other recovery techniques. Vapex is basically an in situ recovery process which injects a vaporized hydrocarbon solvent in the injection well to reduce the viscosity the heavy oil and bitumen and allows it to drain out of the production well through gravity drainage. Mass transfer of vaporized solvent to heavy oil and the gravity drainage are the key parameters which mainly determine the production rate of heavy oil and bitumen with reduced viscosity. This report provides a brief idea about the current heavy oil and bitumen deposits in Canada, a better insight of the Vapex process and the factors which affect the efficiency of the process. • 25. Analysis Of The Lamb By William Blake Introduction/Thesis Just like the lamb that was born into this world through a virgin and was sacrificed for all mankind, this same lamb made us and called us by his name. In his poem The Lamb, William Blake clearly uses repetition, personification, and symbolism to describe his religious beliefs and how a pure sacrifice is portrayed by a little lamb. Laura Quinney s book, William Blake on Self and Soul, shows the religious side of Blake when it says, Blake makes this argument in his address To the Deists, where he insists Man must will have Some Religion; if he has not the Religion of Jesus, he will have the Religion of Satan (Quinney, 2009). Blake uses his religious view to show us he believes that our creator is the Lamb of God. He distinctively uses the innocence and purity of a little lamb and how its creator clearly takes care of it. The lamb is fed, given water by the stream and a bidden a blessed life. Repetition To begin with, Blake s use of repetition intensifies the significance of our creator and all he has done for us, as well as the sacrificial giving of life, food, and clothing as would a parent sacrificing for a little child. Blake s reoccurrence of the questions, Little Lamb who made thee? and Dost thou know who made thee? shows the importance of creation of the little lamb. It is important for a tool that is popularly utilized in a variety of fields and at numerous professional institutions worldwide to be a credible one. Shakespeare achieves this by likening two influential characters, Macbeth and Macduff, to an owl and a crow, respectively, as well as using references to other types of birds in order to set a tone. The first major mention of birds occurs when Duncan and his entourage arrive at Dunsinane, about which Banquo remarks that The temple haunting martlet... According to the Great Metaphysical Chain of Being, the falcon is the supreme bird who rules over all of the others, with the owl ranking a few notches below it. The death of the falcon at the owl s hand illustrates that the natural order of things has been disrupted, a situation that bears resemblance to what has just occurred at Dunsinane, with king Duncan having been murdered by Macbeth, a man who was beneath him in terms of power. This parallel between the upset in nature and the upset that occurred at Dunsinane reinforces the idea that the owl symbolizes Macbeth. In the second scene of the third act, after speaking with the murderers in order to plan Banquo s death, Macbeth pronounces that night s black agents to their preys do rouse. The phrase night s black agents refers to a predator that hunts at night, which yet again is the owl, with Banquo likely being the metaphorical prey. This is probably the most blatant of the hints that the owl symbolizes Macbeth, as Macbeth makes this comment in full knowledge that Banquo will soon be murdered indirectly by his hand. In that same scene, the crow is first mentioned when Macbeth remarks upon how light thickens, and the crow makes wing to the rooky wood (3.2.50 51). This statistic often leads to the negative stereotype of teen drivers. However, one must ask why are teens more likely to be involved vehicular accidents rather than any other age group. It would seem that they might have quicker reaction times, and even the ability to pay attention to the road and others around them more. However, these young drivers often attend school for eight hours, participate in extracurricular activities, and then some teens even work part time even full time jobs. Therefore, they drive later and later, creating difficulties on top of the lack of experience, for example exhaustion, and distractions whether the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some suggestions have been to increase the driving age to twenty one and older, however, the lack of experience would be heightened with a possible increase of driving under the influence since the legal drinking age is twenty one. Therefore, instead of raising the driving age why doesn t the state, or even community create a mandatory Driver s Ed class, one for learning about driving and another for actually driving. This is due to the idea that teens are more likely to see the errors of their classmates and not want to make the same mistake, or see what to do in certain situations that a teen might not know about. For example, the majority of teens aren t actually taught about what to do in case one s car starts hydroplaning, which is crucial for not only the driver but anyone around them on the road safety. This is due to how the cars wheels have no traction on the ground and if they accelerate, or brake they could lose control of their car even more so than they already had. Thus, providing a mandatory class for graduation for students aged sixteen through nineteen will give them the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge, so that they have a decreased chance of being involved in an ... • 34. Television s Effects on the Natural Environment Essay Television s Effects on the Natural Environment You may be thinking, How on earth could the TV have an affect on our natural environment? and you have every right to. At first glance, it may seem impossible that the TV can have an effect on our natural surroundings; but, nevertheless, it does. One of the ways that the TV can have an effect on our surroundings is by the amount of power that is needed to run all of the TV s in the world. I realize, that compared to other appliances, a television does not use a huge amount of energy. But think about this: almost every family in America has at least one TV if not more (some people that I know have upwards of 6 and 7). Can you imagine the power it must take to run all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You ve seen some examples of the bad; now let us focus on the good. These same people that I have just talked about above can also help the environment. Scientists who make documentaries can be very helpful to the environment as well. If they are able to travel into the wilderness to study animals and wildlife, a video camera can be a useful tool. The scientists, with the help of a video camera, can record their observations of these animals and view them later on a television or place them on television where others, who were not able to travel to the particular location, can watch and observe these animals as well. The ability to do this helps the environment in two ways: 1) It helps scientists and other experts understand our natural world much better enabling them to help preserve it, and it 2) promotes education of the environment to those who are not scientists. As you can see, the TV has an effect on our environment for good and bad, even though it may be indirect. When I say natural environment, you probably only think about the ways in which it affects our land and animals, but there is another aspect: human health. Television has had a great impact on human health since its invention in 1926. Americans, and humans in general, spend huge amounts of time watching television each year. When people watch TV, they are giving up time in which they could be exercising. As a consequence of this lack of exercise, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mattie Ross is the main character featured in the novel, but she does not have the principal role in the film due to the lead of Rooster Cogburn played by John Wayne. In the novel, Mattie is portrayed as a character who is advanced for her age, brave and not letting anything stop her, but in the movie she seems childish at times. Mattie is a fourteen year old girl who goes on an adventure to seek revenge on the man who killed her father. Two other characters named Rooster Cogburn and Laboeuf travel with Mattie on this adventure. The man who murdered her father is named Tom Chaney. One day Tom came riding a horse that had a dirty blanket he was using as a saddle, and he was also starving. Mattie s father then decides to give him a job on their property and let him live in the cotton house. She can accomplish any of her goals even though she has acts of being childish in the film but that does not occur in the novel. In the film, Mattie travels with two others to find Chaney. • 37. Ethics and Intellectual Property Ethics and Intellectual Property Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce (United States Patent and Trademark Office, 2013). There are many ethical issues that have arisen in the business world today pertaining to intellectual property. Some people may not think that it is important to protect intellectual property however, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) does just that. Intellectual property is protected in law by, for example, patents, copyright and trademarks, which enable people to earn recognition or financial benefit from what they invent or create (United States Patent and Trademark Office). Protecting trademarks and logos is important, as these things are rightfully owned by the person or company which created them. Many companies are known by their intellectual property, such as symbols, names and logos. It can also be very costly to have these artistic logos created, making it more frustrating when someone chooses to copy or steal the logo and use it as their own. Ethical Issues Businesses generally have attorneys to represent them or advise them on business law, and to read documentation to ensure there are no legal issues. There can be ethical issues when consulting with an attorney who represents another business that may have similar intellectual property as another business. In the licensing journal, it ...
