Communication Is An Important Part Of A Business
Communication is an important part of a business to work. For a working
environment to succeed, a company s ideas, knowledge, or opinions are useless
unless there is effective workplace communication. Upward communication is the
flow of information from frontline employees to managers, supervisors, and directors.
This process differs from the more commonly used method of downward
communication. Both communication processes require individuals to exchange
information with one another with the mindset to influence one s thoughts,
behaviors, increase understanding, and help the organization function smoothly.
There are different variables that play a part in organizational communication and a
key factor is listening.
Within an organization, there are various methods of providing and gaining
information. As previously mentioned, upward communication is where employees
speak directly to management. This method allows employee s to participate in the
organization. This open door policy keeps managers aware of how subordinates feel
about their job tasks, procedures, and the organization in general. This
communication channel implements a method called serial communication. Serial
communication is a type of upward communication method that passes information
consecutively from one person to another (Aamodt, p. 396). This system is similar to
a chain reaction, where a message is given from an employee to a supervisor till it
eventually reaches an executive. Advantages to using

The Trade Markets And East Asian Economies
As intended in the Global Europe strategy, the EU attempted to widen its trade
market to East Asian economies. South Korea was the first for the EU to start that
aim. Generally, tariffs on over ninety percent of goods are expected to be removed
within 3 years and a total elimination of tariffs within 7 years for South Koreaand
within 5 years for the EU (Hwang and Kim, 2014). According to an econometric
estimation, the most beneficial sector from the FTA should be the service sector,
which could be liberalised up to seventy percent of the total (Copenhagen
Economics and Francois, 2006). The level of the developments of agricultural trades
between the two sectors was stationary as there is a large gap of surplus; the EU
exported 1.39... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As seen above, South Korea suits a perfect partner for DG Trade s strategies: one it
allows to open markets for their exporters and two it exchanges pockets of protection
such as service sector and automotive sector (Siles Brugge, 2011). Nonetheless,
negotiations experienced difficulties as the South Korea negotiators were not acting
as offensively as the European officials would want to. For example, European
negotiators suggested a substantial market access offer whilst Korean negotiators
wished a rather modest submission (ibid). This strategic behaviour from the Korean
side eventually brought more opportunities for the Korean automotive industry as an
exchange to the service sector, although Korean negotiators had to comply with the
standardisation of non tariff barriers. The major issues on non tariff barriers on
automobiles were safety and environmental standards as the EU insisted the Korean
automobiles to be standardised with the regional market as the orientation of their
procedural regulations (Hwang and Kim, 2014). One of the propositions of the EU
was to standardise the level of regulation on non tariff barriers as the level of
regulations
Theories Of Law And Justice
Essay #1
Theories of law and justice answers the questions on how/ why in society a person
behavior could be seen or handle as a criminal (Akers Sellers, 2009). Also the
theory helps explain why a certain behavior is consider illegal and what punishment
needs to be taken for that behavior/conduct. To answer these questions, the theory
looks at the variables which are social, economic, and economic which has it affects
on law and justice (Akers Sellers, 2009). For theories of crime and criminal behavior
it tries to answer the question of why there is a difference of group rating on crime
and deviance. Also, why are some people able to commit criminal verses others
(Akers Sellers, 2009)? The first question is Macro level, so it looks at if social,
economics, cultural factors, structures, and factors affects it. Then the second
question that was mention is micro level because instead of looking at a group it is
looking at a individual and its interactions/intrapersonal factors (Howell Chapter 1
slides, 2015).
For social structure theories it is crime that looks at the group difference which is
Macro level. The predictors are societal forces and cultural factors (Howell Chapter
1 slides, 2015). In this theory people are in different groups and so is the crime rate
that is different in these groups. The differences is due to the predictors that affects
it. Process theory is the micro level that focus on the individual behavior. Even

Hmong Textiles Essay
The Hmong people are well known for their survival antics from their silent war
with China and their migration from the Vietnam War. Hmong is a term many have
never even heard of but their culture it is known as free people. Hmong textiles has
survived just like their whole culture. The attractive handcrafted designs have been in
their history for over two centuries, and their embroideries are popular among the
Asian countries as well as the United States. Hmong textiles includes a variety of
embroideries on their Flower cloths, story cloths, and their New Year dress. All
fabrics have powerful importance in their customs to bring prosperity and good
fortunes. Needlework is a substantial skill in their community that can not be
forgotten,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Flower cloth is intriguingly designed by hand. Hmong women were
responsible for sewing the cloth and the beautiful embroideries. Several Hmong
women use a rare method of reverse appliqu #233;, designs made by sewing on a
patch to the underside of a fabric and then cutting away and turning under the edge
of the top fabric (Fadiman ). The design is extremely difficult and takes years to
acquire this skill. Hmong dresses are elaborated with trimmings, coins, and a variety
of colorful yarns. The dresses were highly decorative and added bulk to the man or
woman wearing the dress. However, the Rooster hat is a modernized tradition when
the Hmong people came to the United States. The base of the hat was normally
purchased and decorated with the coins and trimmings.
The materials used to create these different Hmong textiles range from silk to the
nylon and polyester, the American synthetic fibers (Fadiman). In Laos, a part of
Indochina, Hmong women often used Vietnamese silk to create their twelve foot
long turban. With silks great absorbency properties it was then dyed in a dark color
usually maroon or a navy blue. When the large population of Hmong population
migrated to the United States, the modernization of the turban headdress became a
rooster hat. The rooster hat was fabricated of cotton and synthetic fibers.
Epictetus Suffering
For this essay, I ve chosen to write about Epictetus thoughts on stoicism, Foer s
Extremely Loud Incredibly Close, and Tolstoy s The Death of Ivan Ilyich. I chose
these three texts for a few reasons. Perhaps most importantly, they represent the three
I have considered the most throughout this semester. As such, they are three of the
ones I can most easily recall. Additionally, they have differing views of pain and
suffering that will be interesting to explore together. The main way these three texts
differ is in their representation of pain. In Epictetus writing, pain is depicted as
something to be avoided at all costs. His whole philosophy of stoicism aims to
remove pain and suffering entirely from life, as he considers it something... Show

Again, Tolstoy portrays pain as something that can be all consuming. For much of
the text, Ivan is obsessed with his pain and suffering, from when it begins as a
nagging pain in his side until he ruminates on it day and night while on his death
bed. Tolstoy flips the script a little, however, because another key facet of this
depiction of pain is that it s seen as something of a teacher. Through the pain and
suffering that Ivan feels from confronting his own mortality and impending death,
he learns about himself, what a good life really means, existential issues about the
afterlife, and other related topics. He has epiphanies throughout the book, with the
most memorable and poignant one, for me, coming when he considers if he lived
a good life on page 213 in my book. Of course, the texts do have some similarities.
As I ve discussed, two of them depict pain as something that can be all consuming,
and sometimes overwhelming, as in Epictetus work. The former two works also
show some good things can come from pain and suffering, such as healing or
The Lightning Of A Lightning Essay
Roughly 265 years ago a man rode horseback through a lightning storm with both a
kite and a key in hand, in hopes to prove something questioned by many; Whether
or not lightning is a form of electricity. The sight may be strange to see and even
hear about, but in the name of science and proving that lightning is, in fact, a type of
energy, Benjamin Franklin, a scientist at heart, would do anything to test his theory
about lightning. Though he may not have wanted to use this knowledge to capture
lightning and convert it into usable energy, he did want to protect people and
buildings by creating a path of least resistance to the ground for the lightning to
travel, most commonly known as the lightning rod. Despite being a genius,
capturing lightning for energy may have been a bit far out of reach for Franklin,
perhaps more attainable by another scientist. Nikola Tesla, like Benjamin Franklin,
was also captivated by the phenomenon of lightning. Tesla, did not want to capture
lightning, but create the electrical effects to the same scale as one of nature s most
beautiful occurrences. Tesla s idea was to transmit electrical power without wires at
high altitudes, the same way energy is transferred during a lightning storm (Uth,
2000). In the grand scheme, his idea was too futuristic according to the many who
thought he was crazy, however with the right tools, Tesla could have made it work.
Lightning, while intriguing and a seemingly large waste of energy, is not as easy to

if we are in the probability based group then calculate shortest distance among the

Questions On The Parenting Plan
Alvin,
I have some things that I would like to discuss with you, regarding the parenting plan.
I recognize the two of us have sort of have steered away from a few details and feel
we need to get back on track.
EXCHANGE
Initially, when creating the parenting plan, the two of us agreed to meet half way
for exchange since you were living in Spring Hill, and I in Palm Harbor. This is
why we chose the church. Since you moved to New Port Richey a few months
back, I have not suggested changing the location as I felt comfortable meeting
there. However, since your move, I understand you only live approximately 5
minutes away from the church; making it an exchange location no longer half way.
After this past Sunday, when I drove 30 minutes out of my way for the switch not
to happen, I realized how unfair that is to me. For this reason, I would like to
change the exchange location to be closer to the middle again. According to
Google Maps there is slightly under 30 minutes drive (with no traffic) between our
addresses, therefore I feel a suitable meeting spot is at Publix in Tarpon Springs.
This is still further of a drive for me than for you, nevertheless I feel that it is an
excellent location for a comfortable swap. Please let me know if this is not plausible,
thus an agreement can be made on this matter.
I would even consider possibly the parent who is getting the children drives the full
distance to pick up, making meeting locations within 5 minutes of the home address

The Classification Tree Is A Model That Uses Both...
Classification tree is a model that uses both categorical and numeric inputs to
predict categorical or binomial outputs. The software draws a graph composed of
nodes and leaves representing different groups of data with same characteristics
based on the model. The output looks like a tree, which provides viewers with a
direct exhibition; therefore, it is a good tool we can use to make a statistical analysis.
The classification tree model allows both numeric and categorical inputs, both of
which appear in the data set, that can be utilized to predict our categorical targeted
output: workday alcohol consumption level. The model s ability to handle both
numeric and categorical input was the main reason why we decided that classification
trees would be a good model to analyze our data. One of the most important changes
to our data set, mentioned previously, was converting the workday alcohol
consumption column into two levels: zeros, representing low workday alcohol
consumption, and ones, representing high workday alcohol consumption. Moreover,
since this data set contains the results of over one thousand questionnaire surveys,
often times numbers recorded in the data set have more meaning than the number
they represent. Take the Health variable as an example. If a respondent recorded a
one for their health, it meant that their health was extremely poor; therefore, in this
case one does not represent the actual number but rather extremely poor. It took us a

Wooramaroo Personal And Community Identity
Place is important in relation to personal and community identity because where
we live, in a way defines us. If we live in the country, we can identify with tropes of
bush living or a rural lifestyle. If we are in the city, that place and cityscape can
determine our way of life and sense of belonging to that place.
Wooramaroo is the story told from the viewpoint of female protagonist Cara
McGeever s ten year old son, Scott, and their change of place as immigrants from
inner city working class Liverpool to Outback Australia in the 1970s.
The novels that have influenced my story are Mullumbimby, Breath, and Heat and
Light. Cara McGeever has suffered loss of place and identity through moving to
Australia. Personal and community identity through place will be discussed through
female characters Jo Breen in Mullumbimby, Eva Sanderson in Breath, and Pearl and
Amy Kresinger in Heat and Light.
Life in rural Australian presents strong community spirit and opportunities for Cara
to belong to that space. Outback regions have a strong sense of place because their
people experience commonalities such as dealing with the vagaries of nature. As
Tuan (2001, 131) states, Attachment to place can emerge from the experience of
nature s intransigence. The locals bond together in time of need, as we see at the
end when the storm comes to Wooramaroo. It is this vital connection to the Outback
that Cara needs in order to build a new identity, and find a new sense of place. Tuan

Application Of Writing For Writing
In regards to writing I have always struggled to meet all of the requirements for a
perfect paper that includes a well organized text filled with rich analytical sentences.
In the beginning of the semester I constantly worried about the structure of my
writing and its overall material. In high school it was important for me to complete
my essays by answering the questions that I was given, but in college, students go
more into depth. College students are required to focus on grammar, and well
structured ideas that flow along with rich analytical content. After I was given my
first assignment I was pressured to improve my overall work by focusing on structure
and developing analytical content. Assignments such as the weekly readings and
writingassignments helped me improve my overall work. Through the narrative essay,
artist research essay and Storify project I focused on many aspects that improved my
writing. For all of my assignments it was useful to use techniques, such as, reading
out loud to revise the structure of my work and going into depth with description.
My first English assignment was to read the essays from the 50 Essays book, and
reflect on these essays by focusing on their main idea. These weekly readings slowly
taught me how to analyze the structure of different essays. Through the journal essay
assignments I came across to a particular essay that grabbed my attention. The essay,

The Consequences of Factory Farms
Because of the conditions of the animals in factory farms, they are exposed to the
potential of infections and diseases. Intensive farming interrupts and restricts the
natural behavior of the animals, and this can increase frustration and aggression in
them. When the animals are confined in small areas, this aggression can be taken out
on one another. Farmers and factoryworkers conduct injuries to the animals for
reasons intended to benefit the animals, but in reality they are inhumane, harmful
and dangerous. Beaks are trimmed off of chickens to prevent them from pecking
and biting one another. Tails are cut off of pigs to reduce the chances of them getting
bitten by other pigs, and horns are grinded off of male cattle so the do not wound
others. If these occurrences do not happen, the animals could harm one another,
causing open wounds that could get infected. However, by inflicting these procedures
on the animals, the farmers are creating abrasions, and often not treating or adhering
to the care of the animals. This also creates the risk for infection. If an animal is
subjected to an infection, the animal could suffer from pain, irritation and discomfort.
The risk of a festering infection is also subjecting the animal to other diseases and
illnesses. For a farmer, an unhealthy animal could be detrimental to the quality of the
product being produced for consumption. If the meatcomes from an infected, sick
animal, it would not be healthy to eat. As a result of
Satire Definition
Political communication uses different tools to convey the message to the audience.
The use of humour is one such tool for disseminating political news in an alternative
way. Political humour is intended to evoke amusement about governance of society.
Political satire is a humour technique widely used in political communication to
express and ridicule the absurdities of its subjects in order to affect or prevent
changes (Kaid and Holtz Bacha, 2007).
The Oxford Dictionary defines satire as the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or
ridicule to expose and criticise people s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context
of contemporary politics and other topical issues. Satire is a manner that blends a
censorious attitude with humour and wit for humanity and the human condition. In
modern times, the satire is used interchangeably with comedy and parody to make the
audience laugh at the events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nature of satires can be formal or indirect. The formal satire is of two types:
Juvenlian and Horatian. Juvenlian satire is angry, personal and bitter in nature and
harshly targets the wrong doers and corrupt political leaders in the society. Horatian
satire, on the other hand, is more gentle, tolerant and witty. It uses laughter to bring
a positive change in the society (Ritgero, 2009). Indirect satire does not address the
readers in direct form. Indirect satires are usually fictional narrative, in which the
objects of the satire are characters who make themselves and their opinions
ridiculous or obnoxious by what they think, say, and do, and are sometimes made
even more ridiculous by the author s comments and the narrative style. Therefore,
satires have the goal to strike the evil and bring out the reality and advocate for

The Achievement Gap And Academic Growth
The achievement gap in students traditionally is determined through test scores or
other measurements that are defined through some sort of measurable academic
achievement. Educators hammer down test taking strategies to students in
preparation for end of course stage mandated assessment that when it is all said and
done the students are tired of the test before it is even administered. Student
achievement should be measured based on student growth and academic growth
should not be the only thing educators should emphasize during the school year.
Students need to character growth is a way to decrease the achievement gap and if
the student improves their character then the achievement gap will be decreased
through building students up from the inside out.
If we are trying to decrease the achievement gap for diverse learners it has to be
done in a way that is not singling students from diverse backgrounds as defined by
society today. We have to understand that all schools are truly diverse because all
students and families are unique and instead of creating lessons and programs for
members of the school community that are considered diverse by today s societal
norms, we should have lessons that embrace what all people have in common.
Lessons and programs need to be constructed with the understanding that people are
at different places in terms of becoming ready to accept the true diversity of our
world. Through the Hollister High School Character Education Program,
Global Warming Historical Perspective
A Historical Perspective of Global Warming
Global warming is a problem that has just recently come to the forefront of world
affairs. Within the last fifteen to twenty years, we have known that this problem was
not only possible, but likely; but nothing has really gotten done. The origin of global
warming is often disputed, and is being debated all over the world today. Whatever
the cause may be, historians believe this is a problem at least 100 years in the
making. Since the Industrial Revolution, we have been on a fast track to pollute
Earth to a way of life altering extent. We are only beginning to see the results of that
today. Most scientists base their research on proxy data; ancient sources such as

Experts are able to make this claim because, the record of the last thousand years
seems to have included a notably wide range of climactic regimes. (Lamb, 301)
There is no hard statistical data pertaining to the Earth s temperature s over the last
thousand years, but based on the history that we have, the high middle ages saw a
persistently warm climate epoch, which lasted until about 1310. The following
centuries brought a series of changes, some of them abrupt, leading to the so called
Little Ice Age between 1550 1700 or later. (Lamb 301) Lamb, along with many other
experts, take this as hard evidence that temperature change is normal and natural, and
there is no reason for us to think today s case is any different.
As hot of a topic that global warming is today, not too long ago it was completely
disregarded as anything we needed to pay attention to. It was found that, Around
1880 1890 it was apparent that the climactic averages of that time were very similar
to those of a century earlier, and it became conventional to treat climate as
essentially a constant. Accordingly, study of the development and possible changes
of climate were given a very low priority or more generally neglected altogether.
(Lamb, 292) The consistency within the pre industrial revolution weather patterns
provides clarity as to why this problem hadn t been addressed much in modern times,
or even given a second thought. Lamb provides us with a good

The Invasion Of The Vietnam War
Firstly, the invasion of the Vietnam War cannot be justified when the US s ally in
the war is a corrupt democracy. When the Vietnam War began the United States
puppet state was Ngo Dinh Diem s South Vietnam. Diem was a dictator or the
President supposedly of South Vietnam that took power for himself there, and threw
all of his civil and political opponents into violent concentration camps. The South
Vietnamese President had also oppressed those of different religions specifically
Buddhism ( NGO DINH DIEM, FIRST PRESIDENT OF SOUTH VIETNAM. ).
Eventually, the Viet Cong who would rather support a communist regime formed due
to the oppressive nature of Diem s ruthless democracy. By the time North Vietnam
sought to unify the country Diem had opposition from all perspectives, including his
most trusted peers. Even with his mockery of a democracy, the United Statesbelieved
it had to support his efforts in the defense of democracy in South Vietnam. The
United States did want a change of power, but were willing to continue with Diem if
deemed necessary to win. Benjamin Frankel states this by stating advised the State
Department that the United States should begin to search for an alternative to Diem.
On 1 November 1963 South Vietnamese military officers overthrew Diem, and he
and his brother were shot to death ( Vietnam War: Was U.S. Military Intervention in
Vietnam Justified? ). Democracy is about everyone having fair trials, civil liberties,
and the right to free speech.
Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Essay

motor control, you sometimes have bouts of unintentional movement, and you feel
that you are not in control of your own body at times. You have no idea what is
going on, your family is stunned, and the doctors are stumped. No one seems to
have a firm understanding of how or why these things are happening to you. Your
doctors recommend that you undergo a relatively new procedure called fMRI. This

There are a few alternatives to using fMRI such as positron emission technology
(PET), but fMRI holds many advantages over PET as fMRI does not require
radioactive injections, its total scan time is usually very short, and it is suitable to
assist in a neurosurgical treatment plan for specific individuals (Columbia University,
2010). In the past few years the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging has
exploded and it has really over flooded the market in terms of its applicability.
There are a multitude of companies that are really pushing this technology for
many different uses such as replacing the polygraph, using it to make life support
withdrawal decisions, and even as a form of risk reduction for dating (Stix, 2008).
This all sounds good in theory but the downside is that these companies are
pushing fMRI technology for all these different uses without having a significant
research performed to back up such hare brained claims. One of the many
weaknesses of why fMRI should not be used in such cases is that the technology
itself could be influencing its own results one way or the other. For starters
magnetic resonance imaging uses distinct pulses of radio waves along with a very
strong, rotating magnetic field, which may strongly interfere with the nearby
circuitry required to process the signals seen to begin with an fMRI scan. The actual
scan itself could be skewing the data obtained (Collins, 2001). The origin of fMRI

advantage. The order in which these analyses are conducted is not important. This is
because they both use each other to get the best information, order does not matter
because they go together without mattering what s done first. Both internal and
external analyses allow firms to identify not only environmental threats and
opportunities, but also it helps the firmidentify its weaknesses and positive strengths

Analysis Of Jonathan Kozol s The Mechanics Of The Book
I. Analysis of the mechanics of the book. In today s society, there are issues that are
more important than another. There may be some disagreements on which issue is
more important than the rest. Which leads to the most important topic in life,
education. At a young age, we are enrolled in schoolfrom kindergarten to senior year
of high school. When you hit high school you are preparing for your future;
attending college, joining the work force, the military, etc. However, one thing
seems to go unnoticed, this is the notion that a young ones career as a student is
simply molded when they are in their elementary years. This now leads to the topic
of this essay; Jonathan Kozol s book and his research on students from the inner
city. It appears that Jonathan Kozol took the organization of his book very
seriously. In fact, I believe that his book was organized very well. When it comes to
the type of organization used, deciding which was used is ultimately up to the
reader. Personally, I believe that Kozol used topical organization. The reason being is
that each chapter had a different topic with an underlying message. Although at
points it may have seemed that he was listing everything in chronological order,
Kozol stuck with the examples that were relevant to the theme of that individual
chapter. If Kozol were to use another form of organization, chronological perhaps, his
book would not be much different. I feel that is he were to use this form, his powerful
Netflix As A Provider Of A Subscription Service For
Streaming
Through innovation, the media streaming provider, Netflix, has achieved
competitive advantage in the global market. Netflix operates as a provider of a
subscription service for streaming movies and television episodes over the Internet.
Originally founded in California in 1997 as a mail order DVD rental service with a
flat monthly subscription rate, allowing consumers to benefit from an unlimited
number of rentals and no late fees, Netflix has grown to dominate their market and
experience minimal direct competition by seizing the first to market competitive
advantage. Now known as the primary provider of Internetonly streaming media,
Netflix has grown to have a market capitalisation of US$41.1 billion (as of May
2016) from their previous US$3 billion (in January 2013).
Netflix succeeded in basic terms by keeping it simple. From the beginning of the
DVD rental service to the creation of an online streaming website it has been able
to keep the processes easy and corner its market. Reed Hastings, the C.E.O and co
founder of Netflix took advantage of two emerging technologies, DVDs and
websites. His idea was simple, why not combine the two and deliver DVDs to the
homes of consumers and provide them with a simple website from which they can
order films. Hastings marketed his service at the two things he believed every
individual wanted to save on, time and money. However, after a few years of
enjoying the success from the DVD rental service Hastings felt confident that films
Modernism Essay
Modernism
An inclination to subjective distortion to point up the evanescence of the social world
of the nineteenth century bourgeoisie.
Barth, Literature of Replenishment (www.iath.virginia.edu/elab/hfl0255.html)
Modernism was rebellion against not only the repressive principles of the Victorian
era but also the emergence of the fast changing, materialistic corporate society. The
period preceding modernism held up Victorian virtues, which accepted the worldview
of everything being ordered, neat, stable, and meaningful. While fundamentally
optimistic, Victorian culture featured hypercritical moralism as it had a very narrow,

Stream of consciousness writing employed by Joyce and Woolf and other expressions
of inward consciousness in narration threw asunder the safeguard of the reliability of
the narrator and required active contemplation by the readers. Perspective assumed a
far greater importance in literature as writers offered more impressionistic work
without omniscient narrators and clean resolutions.
The proliferation of the experimental spirit in modernist works of literature often
alienated popular readership, and such exclusivity served as a mark of quality to a
certain extent as it went in hand with the modernist intellectuals disdain towards the
mass consumption driven popular culture. Modernist intellectuals rejected popular
culture, as they perceived that creating work that would be universally accepted often
involved certain sacrifices of their genius and ultimately degraded art. The movement
was certainly not egalitarian in nature. Modernism in fact strayed away from the idea
of thinking in terms of groups, opting instead to focus on the individual. It strove for
self knowledge, and the almost narcissistic interest in the self led to the spiritual
alienation, self exile, and cultural criticism that pervaded the period.
The place that Hemingway and Fitzgerald occupied in literary modernism is difficult
to pinpoint. They both dabbled with modernist writing styles earlier
Personal Narrative-Pussy Cock
Pussy lips were pulled apart, stretched like latex around my gigantic glans. She
slammed her hips back, I shoved my monstrous organ forward. Schl pop!
Aaauuugh! Fuck! she cried as my cock s crown stretched her out. I felt pressure as
her cunt got even tighter. Estelle s whole body shuddered. Splisch! Boiling hot
juices sprayed around my cock s girth and dripped down her legs. The silky tunnel
massaged my glans.
We aren t even getting started, Ms. Borgelin, I chuckled.
Fout myed. Ugh. You Japanese bastard. she stuttered. Give me more!

s head and turned it to the side. She let out another howl as she saw how big she was
growing, belly spilling over her lap.
Mmmf! Aaauugh! She began to convulse through another messy orgasm.
SCHHRRIIPP! The purple cloth over her back split in half and pulled in front of
her, abruptly exposing her upper body and the fact that she had worn no bra. Slap!
her belly smacked and bounced against her legs, filling her lap as she filled mine. It
took me a moment to realize what had happened ... the dress just couldn t keep up

Semen rolled down, forming a pool atop the leather between my legs and creeping

satisfaction, sinking into the chaise. Estelle rolled forward and collapsed atop her
belly. But she did manage to look back over her shoulder and say, Mmmgh. Call.
Analysis of Lucy Gayheart by Willa Cather
Analysis of Lucy Gayheart by Willa Cather
Lucy Gayheart is a young, spirited, intelligent music student from Havorford, on the
South Platte River. In the winters, she attends a conservatory in Chicago, under the
tutelage of Professor Auerbach. In Chicago, she lives in a room above a German
bakery, where she takes her breakfasts and suppers. These small quarters do not
distress her; indeed, she craves the solitude of her own will, her own piano, her own
bed. She walks hungrily through Chicago, her appetite for life never disappointed by
the thriving midwestern metropolis. She is beautiful, she is talented, and her young
heart has never been broke. The year is 1901. At some point in everyone s life, you
meet someone whom you think can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a time, Lucy Gayheart feels the assurance of a bright future reaffirmed daily.
And then a tragedy strikes, an undreamed of turn of events, something which
happens every day, and yet which we never address, because it is unthinkable. So
will Lucy allow tragedy to beat her down into an existence she has long scorned? Or
will she find the mettle to not only endure, but to grow in the face of, her heartbreak?
This book was published in 1935. Its syntax can be long winded, but its imagery is
unforgettable. The author conveys a deep love for her fellow man, and for the
inexpressible promise of a young life. I believe there is Lucy Gayheart in all of us.
The small town character of Lucy was so typical and nostalgic in her quest for first,
real, and unconventional love, much to the dismay of her rogue ish childhood
admirer. The feelings and actions of Lucy toward both situations is so characteristic
of youth and young love. This novel would appeal mostly to women, from the
teens on up, who are looking for something to read on a cold, rainy day while sipping
hot cocoa. It is a wonderful escape to a past time in America and life.
From the beginning Lucy Gayheart held my attention. It had so many ups, and
downs, twists and turns that it was captivating. The book was very descriptive and
wordy, but instead of taking away from the book it added depth and clarity. It s detail
allowed me to become part of the book. I felt as if I knew Lucy forever,
Drake Poetic Devices
Teens and Young adults seem to frequently listen to music throughout the day. If it
is not in the car while driving, it is while walking to class or just simply while
doing homework. However, how many adolescents really pay attention to the
meaning of the song or the poetic devices that are used throughout the song? Drake s
song featuring Rhianna, Too Good, implies a message of love and explains how he
tries his hardest to talk to Rhianna but she has seemed to have discovered herself
without discovering their relationship; while they are conversing they are not
understanding each other; throughout the song we see a pattern of similes,
paradoxes, and imagery. In this song Drake uses the literary device simile. According

A paradox is a statement or proposition that seems self contradictory or absurd but
in reality expresses a possible truth. (Dictionary.com) Throughout this song we see
many examples of Paradoxes. He continually contradicts what he is saying. In the
song he states Got me on flights overseas, and I still can t get across to you. (Drake
lines 27 28) Through this quote he uses a phrase that contradicts its self, by saying
he is on flights overseas but still cannot get across to her which gives the meaning
of him trying to talk to her but he still cannot get through to her. The Paradox
allows the listener to realize how difficult it is for Drake to get across to Rhianna.
He continues to try and reach her but it seems as if it were impossible for him.
This is another one of the problems that he is facing with Rhianna and another
reason to why he is so hopeless about their relationship. Another example of a
Paradox that is found in the song would be Free time is costing me more than it
seems. (Drake 52) Similar to the line Got me on flight overseas but I still can t get
across to you (Drake 27 28). Drake contradicts himself by saying that something that
is supposed to be free is costing him. Through this line he is trying to emphasize how
much free time she is costing him. It allows the listener to see how much Drake is
putting into the relationship from his part. Making the listener
Ottoman And Italian Charity And Charity
According to Skocpol and Somers, one of the major uses of comparative history is
to make observations about institutions and structures and how they develop in
different nations. Now when one thinks about points of comparison, they probably
think about broad categories like religion, the state, etc., these are all obvious
categories for comparative history, a less obvious topic however, is poor relief and
charity. How to deal with the poor (in this case, orphans, those out of work, the sick,
etc.) is an almost universal problem that every state or polity in the early modern
Mediterranean had to address in some form or another. This makes poor relief and
charity a prime candidate for comparison. For example, take the Italian states and the
Ottoman Empire. On the surface, you can find vast differences between the two,
Italian city states were Christian and were often individual cities that were
independent of each other; meanwhile the Ottoman Empire was a vast, Muslim state
compromising large amounts of territory. Despite these differences, one can find
similarities in regards to how charity and poor relief were handled.
Thor In Giantland Essay
This masterpiece, Thor and Loki in Giantland , is taken from the Prose Edda. The
Prose Edda is a collection of tales written in Iceland during the early thirteenth
century. The title is derived from the old Norse word meaning great grandmother.
Combined with the Poetic Edda, these two books make up most of Scandinavian
mythology. The author, Snorri Sturluson, was an Icelandic poet, historian, and
politician. He hypothesized a new idea of religionon how gods are created: A war
leader or king dies, and is later idolized after his or her death. For example, if a
group is going into battle, then they will pray to the leader to help with their
hardships and begin to venerate the figure.
This particular work was written in honor of nobles, for love, or to commemorate
current events. Throughout the selection, Thor and Loki in Giantland , the type of
writing used is syllabic in structure and utilizes kennings. Moreover, kennings are
periphrases that can appear as metaphors, but also are able to give the effect of
riddles. In addition, another literary device used is dialogue. Dialogue in this story is
used to present an exposition of past events as well as to further advance the plot.
Furthermore, Sturluson intended the book to be used as ... Show more content on

prose also took the place of poetry. One factor that could have influenced Sturluson s

the reason that many of his stories included significant battles and over comings. An
example is during Thor s fight with the giants. Though only a handful of small,
passive battles, many illustrations depict the battles as violent with
The Musical Essay
The Musical The classical period of the musical coincided with the heyday of the
Hollywood studios from the early thirties to the early fifties. The conventions of the
integrated musical were formed in the Astaire Rogers musicals made at RKO in the
thirties and the form peaked at MGM in the forties and early fifties, most notably in
films produced by Arthur Freed.
Thomas Schatz has provided a useful definition of the integrated musical. `Rather
than create a realistic or at least plausible world whose inhabitants find reasonable
motives for breaking into song (rehearsals, shows, etc.) the music itself seems to
determine the attitudes, values and demeanour of the principal characters. As the

Films on both VHS and 16mm are organised below into three sub genres (fairytale,
show and folk) proposed by Rick Altman. Not all musicals fall neatly within
boundaries of one of these sub genres. It s Always Fair Weather, for example, as a
whole operates as an urban folk musical but the satire of television in the last third of
the film draws it towards the show musical. Although Altman locates Ziegfield Follies

the introductory numbers `Bring on the Beautiful Girls and `Bring on the Wonderful

through the series of musical numbers and comedy sketches that follow. The Fairytale

This sub genreborrowed massively from a long (pre cinema) tradition of European
and American operettas. Methods are a combination of those used by the fairytale
and the romantic comedy. In the early sound years (1929 1934) the sexual energy
driving the plot is clearly

Robert Darton The Great Cat Massacre
Revolution is an integral part of social history, and possibly the most famous of all
the rebellions in mankind s history is the French Revolution. However, the actions
of 1789 were not a random coincidence, and you can trace the roots of this massive
upheaval back to a printing press in Paris, the rue Saint Severin, where the printers
attacked the social order via a mass slaughter of cats. This feline atrocity occurred
in the 1730 s and despite the absurd and seemingly cruel nature of it, the workers
may have been justified. The account of the massacre is from the historian Robert
Darton, from his work The Great Cat Massacre , and in it, he describes the story of
a printer Nicolas Contat. Contat s story, however, is the story of these two other
printers (we are getting a bit metafictional here), Jerome and Leveille and their
actions in the famous slaughter. However, Darton s article is not truly focused on the
story of the attack, but rather the whys of the attack and how it is the result of the
social and economic conditions at the time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There was no more expansion in the printing, and this meant that those who were
the owners of existing presses became extremely rich. Conversely, this also caused
working conditions and benefits in the once bright field to plummet. The
journeymen who worked the presses were overworked, underpaid, and had little to
no job security. This, as one can imagine, caused the workers to resent their masters.

can be transformed and manipulated over many generations. The details of Revere

horse. Fischer tackles two different beliefs that come from Longfellow s poem Paul
Revere s Ride. The first belief is the two lanterns hanging in the steeple window of the
Old North Church, the tallest building in Boston at the time, were a sign for Revere.
According to Fischer, Paul Revere recruited two of his friends, Robert Newman and
John Pulling, to go and hang the lanterns in the Old North Church while Revere

The Role of Project Manager
Introduction
Nowadays, with the development of project management, project success has been
defined clearly. A definition of project success from Lock is that if the project
finish on time, within budget and in good quality, the project is considered as a
successful project (Lock, 2007). However, our understanding about the role of
project manager is unclear. Different people hold various viewpoints about it.
According to Lewis, people have a vague understanding of what is the role of
project manager, because a majority of project managers are promoted from other
jobs such as engineers or technologists and so on (Lewis, 2007). Some individuals
think that the role of the project manager is to command and control. Is it enough for
a project ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actually, Project managers do need to command and control.
As I stated above, project manager is responsible for the project, which means that
a project manager needs to control the project process for obtaining a successful
completion of the project as well as to command the stakeholders to follow the
right path to realize the project objective. But it is important to emphasize that
command and control is a purpose, not a process. Just like Bull said that there is
essential difference between a dictator and a leader, a dictator gives command to
people for doing something, but a leader inspires people to let them want to do
things. The role of project manager should be a leader, not a dictator (Bull, 2010).
Lewis also thought that the biggest part of project manager s job is dealing with
people.
Even though project manager has quite little authority, it is not zero (Lewis 2010).
Therefore, for project managers, the biggest challenge should be how to your limited
authority effectively. To optimize the use of the authority, project managers need to
build their leadership. Instead of using your authority to build your leadership, project
managers should use their people skill which involves personality, management skill
and communication skill. (Lewis, 2007, p. 27) So, command and control is a
purpose, not a process. Which means that project manager should be a leader, not a
dictator.
More important thing than command and control

The Bats Reproductive Technique And The Evidence For

The New Zealand Lesser Short tailed bat (Mystacina tuberculata) is an endangered
bat, endemic to New Zealand. It diverges into three subspecies, of which two are
endangered and one is at risk (Department of Conservation [DOC], 2012). It is one
of three original native bat species in New Zealand with only two of those species
still found today. The Lesser Short tails are microbats, with pre foraging adults
weighing between 10 to 22 grams (Carter Riskin, 2006). An adult body length can
extend up to 70mm and with an average wingspan between 280 300mm wide
(Carter Riskin, 2006). They have a brown grey coat colour that lightens in the ventral
areas and similar skin colour (Carter Riskin, 2006).
Due to its endangered status, understanding the Lesser Short tailed bats reproductive
cycle is essential in helping conserve the species and stabilize the population. This

physiological changes have been explored a little more and there is more information

designed to achieve a satisfactory outcome. For the amicable implementation of
change, Lewis mentions three communication processes which, in his opinion, are
the key to successful organizational change. Lewis mentions these three
communication processes as information dissemination; soliciting input; and
socialization. (2011, p. 60) Information dissemination plays a prime role in reducing
uncertainty related to employee worries, at the post organizational change stage. The
information dissemination stage is also the proper time to communicate to the
employees that they are supposed to keep their performance levels the same, and the
disruption levels also need to be as less as possible. The next process, which is
soliciting information feedback is a testimony to the leadership quality of the HR
director and also gives the employees a sense of empowerment. This third
communication Lewis terms socialization which is defined as another
communicating process which also does its bit towards retaining and enhancing
employee motivation in the course of the organizational change. He further says
Socialization concerns how organizations shape the understandings its members have
to the values, priorities, procedures, job tasks,
Big Brother
The thoughts inside of your head becoming the only amount of freedom the citizens
have. The book 1984 written by George Orwell is a book about a party that in
charge of everything that happens in the country. Big brother is the big leader in
party and has thousands of tv monitors set up throughout the country watching the
society and make sure they obey their very strict laws that are placed forward by the
party. The literary elements that are being used throughout this essay are conflict,
symbol, motifs, character and theme with the critical lens being the reader s personal
response. Big brother is observing every movement and monitoring everything that
the people do and say. If they are caught by one of the thousand to screens around the

Winston had went to a second hand store and had found the diary there and bought
it thinking it would be a place where he would be able to escape the real world. It
was absurd, since the writing of those particular words was not more dangerous
than the initial act of opening the diary, but for a moment was tempted to tear out
the spoiled pages (Orwell 19). The party believed that if you were to open a diary
you would be saying unwitting stuff about big brother and it would get you
punished if you were to actually say it. Therefore, they had made it a law that the
people cannot open a diary. Winston had thought that if he were to get rid of the
pages such as tear them out that he would be fine and he wouldn t be able to be
caught for breaking the law of opening a diary. Winston wrote anything that came
to mind in his diary. Down with big brother (Orwell 64). Winston wasn t focusing
on what he was writing and finally when he gained back his attention he had
looked down at the papers of his diary and saw that he had written Down with big
brother four times. Saying this Winston was really determining whether to throw
away the spoiled pages or not. If there is hope, it lies in the proles (Orwell 83).
What Winston was saying was that if there was any hope that the people would be
able to become free nevertheless
A Short Note On Anti Aging Skin Care
Anti aging skin care
The moment we are born we start to age throughout our lives, the effects of aging
are getting more noticeable in our bodies. At age 20 you start to see the effects of
aging to be noticeable in the skin. One of things that affects the skin is called,
Chronological age , it causes a chemical change in collagen and elasticity. The
connective tissues give the skin its firmness and elasticity. The loss of firmness and
elasticity occurs at different times. Everybody s skin is different, some age
different than others. When people start to loose elasticity in the skin, it starts to
get drier, fat padding starts to disappear, when you start to lose fat padding and
connective tissue the skin starts to sag. It looks less limber and wrinkles start to
form. The skin may be itchy with increased dryness, and a cut may heal more
slowly. With aging the process of photo aging may take place. Photo aging is the
effect of chronic and extreme sun exposure on the skin. Cigarette smoking also
provide aging effect of biochemical changes, it brings about in skin tissue. Photo
ageing and chronological aging combined may appear to advance the progress of
chronological ageing. In fact photo ageing may be accountable for the preponderance
of age associated change in the skin s manifestation: mottled pigmentation, surface
roughness, fine wrinkles that disappear when stretched, age or liver spots
(lentiginous) on the hands, and dilated blood vessels. Chronic sun exposure is very

Homong Spirituality in Western Medicine
Throughtout the later chapters of When The Spirit Catches You and You Fall
Down, Fadiman describes how the Homong play a large role in the population of
Merced, but are not considered in the city s day to day life. This brings to light the
strong ties of their own community of the Homong. During this time of the book Lia
has become more stable from when she had her major sezirue but the brain damage
from her grand mal becomes more apparent. Lia s father, Nao Kao, continuously uses
the Homong medicine just as he has in the past which shows that he wants her health
to return to a somewhat normal state. In his view he sees a contradicting image that
occurs between the Western medicine preformed by the medical doctors versus the
Homong traditional medicine practices.
Homong vs. Western
The main focus of Westersn medicine is different than that of the Homong. Western
medicine is there to help prolong the life of an individual while Homong, on the
other hand, seeks to preform spiritual welfare. If Lia s family were to never leave
Laos, she would of easily passed from one of her many epileptic seizures that had
occurred. The move ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As most Americans view the Spirit (much like the Christin conception of the soul) it
is transcendent and can exist beyond the phyisical body. The Homong view of the
Spirit is that is can affect the body s physical health throughout life and will continue
to live on after the physical life has ended. This is where one can view the Homong
emphasis on spirituality in their practice of medicine. In their practice the soul is
thought to belong to God, which this then takes precendence over the physical needs
of the body. In Western medicine the physical body is placed first rather than the

Expulation In The Guinea Pigs
Being in control within situations is good, but what about being invasive with that
control? What happens? This topic was explored throughout a novel called The
Guinea Pigs, by LudvГk VaculГk. VaculГk was a notable Czechoslovakian author in
the mid 20th century, while the novel takes place in Prague around 1973. The
experiments the narrator forced on the guinea pigs, paralleled the governments
mistreatment of its banker s each one became more invasive and more controlling. In
the novel The Guinea Pigs, the experiments done on the guinea pigs become more
invasive and controlling by the narrator throughout the book, just as the government
agenda becomes more invasive and controlling towards the banks and the narrator.
One of the first examples of an invasive and controlling experiment is when the
narrator decided to put a guinea pig onto a moving record player at varying speeds.
I carried him over to the phonograph and wondered what speed I should choose for
him (VaculГk 118). This quote shows the narrator isn t considering the possible
injuries for the guinea pig, when deciding to do this experiment which suggests that
one of the only things the narrator is internally thinking is how he can rule over the
guinea pig. The usage of the words, carry and I and him , highlights the hierarchy
between the narrator and the guinea pig very apparent. The narrator is a person, while
the guinea pig is just a household pet. The narrator thinks that the hierarchy between
the two,

  • 2. Communication Is An Important Part Of A Business Communication is an important part of a business to work. For a working environment to succeed, a company s ideas, knowledge, or opinions are useless unless there is effective workplace communication. Upward communication is the flow of information from frontline employees to managers, supervisors, and directors. This process differs from the more commonly used method of downward communication. Both communication processes require individuals to exchange information with one another with the mindset to influence one s thoughts, behaviors, increase understanding, and help the organization function smoothly. There are different variables that play a part in organizational communication and a key factor is listening. Within an organization, there are various methods of providing and gaining information. As previously mentioned, upward communication is where employees speak directly to management. This method allows employee s to participate in the organization. This open door policy keeps managers aware of how subordinates feel about their job tasks, procedures, and the organization in general. This communication channel implements a method called serial communication. Serial communication is a type of upward communication method that passes information consecutively from one person to another (Aamodt, p. 396). This system is similar to a chain reaction, where a message is given from an employee to a supervisor till it eventually reaches an executive. Advantages to using

  • 4. The Trade Markets And East Asian Economies As intended in the Global Europe strategy, the EU attempted to widen its trade market to East Asian economies. South Korea was the first for the EU to start that aim. Generally, tariffs on over ninety percent of goods are expected to be removed within 3 years and a total elimination of tariffs within 7 years for South Koreaand within 5 years for the EU (Hwang and Kim, 2014). According to an econometric estimation, the most beneficial sector from the FTA should be the service sector, which could be liberalised up to seventy percent of the total (Copenhagen Economics and Francois, 2006). The level of the developments of agricultural trades between the two sectors was stationary as there is a large gap of surplus; the EU exported 1.39... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As seen above, South Korea suits a perfect partner for DG Trade s strategies: one it allows to open markets for their exporters and two it exchanges pockets of protection such as service sector and automotive sector (Siles Brugge, 2011). Nonetheless, negotiations experienced difficulties as the South Korea negotiators were not acting as offensively as the European officials would want to. For example, European negotiators suggested a substantial market access offer whilst Korean negotiators wished a rather modest submission (ibid). This strategic behaviour from the Korean side eventually brought more opportunities for the Korean automotive industry as an exchange to the service sector, although Korean negotiators had to comply with the standardisation of non tariff barriers. The major issues on non tariff barriers on automobiles were safety and environmental standards as the EU insisted the Korean automobiles to be standardised with the regional market as the orientation of their procedural regulations (Hwang and Kim, 2014). One of the propositions of the EU was to standardise the level of regulation on non tariff barriers as the level of regulations
  • 5. Theories Of Law And Justice Essay #1 Theories of law and justice answers the questions on how/ why in society a person behavior could be seen or handle as a criminal (Akers Sellers, 2009). Also the theory helps explain why a certain behavior is consider illegal and what punishment needs to be taken for that behavior/conduct. To answer these questions, the theory looks at the variables which are social, economic, and economic which has it affects on law and justice (Akers Sellers, 2009). For theories of crime and criminal behavior it tries to answer the question of why there is a difference of group rating on crime and deviance. Also, why are some people able to commit criminal verses others (Akers Sellers, 2009)? The first question is Macro level, so it looks at if social, economics, cultural factors, structures, and factors affects it. Then the second question that was mention is micro level because instead of looking at a group it is looking at a individual and its interactions/intrapersonal factors (Howell Chapter 1 slides, 2015). For social structure theories it is crime that looks at the group difference which is Macro level. The predictors are societal forces and cultural factors (Howell Chapter 1 slides, 2015). In this theory people are in different groups and so is the crime rate that is different in these groups. The differences is due to the predictors that affects it. Process theory is the micro level that focus on the individual behavior. Even through; people are place into different

Hmong is a term many have never even heard of but their culture it is known as free people. Hmong textiles has survived just like their whole culture. The attractive handcrafted designs have been in their history for over two centuries, and their embroideries are popular among the Asian countries as well as the United States. Hmong textiles includes a variety of embroideries on their Flower cloths, story cloths, and their New Year dress. All fabrics have powerful importance in their customs to bring prosperity and good fortunes. Needlework is a substantial skill in their community that can not be forgotten,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Flower cloth is intriguingly designed by hand. Hmong women were responsible for sewing the cloth and the beautiful embroideries. Several Hmong women use a rare method of reverse appliqu #233;, designs made by sewing on a patch to the underside of a fabric and then cutting away and turning under the edge of the top fabric (Fadiman ). The design is extremely difficult and takes years to acquire this skill. Hmong dresses are elaborated with trimmings, coins, and a variety of colorful yarns. The dresses were highly decorative and added bulk to the man or woman wearing the dress. However, the Rooster hat is a modernized tradition when the Hmong people came to the United States. The base of the hat was normally purchased and decorated with the coins and trimmings. The materials used to create these different Hmong textiles range from silk to the nylon and polyester, the American synthetic fibers (Fadiman). In Laos, a part of Indochina, Hmong women often used Vietnamese silk to create their twelve foot long turban. With silks great absorbency properties it was then dyed in a dark color usually maroon or a navy blue. When the large population of Hmong population migrated to the United States, the modernization of the turban headdress became a rooster hat. The rooster hat was fabricated of cotton and synthetic fibers.
  • 8. Epictetus Suffering For this essay, I ve chosen to write about Epictetus thoughts on stoicism, Foer s Extremely Loud Incredibly Close, and Tolstoy s The Death of Ivan Ilyich. I chose these three texts for a few reasons. Perhaps most importantly, they represent the three I have considered the most throughout this semester. As such, they are three of the ones I can most easily recall. Additionally, they have differing views of pain and suffering that will be interesting to explore together. The main way these three texts differ is in their representation of pain. In Epictetus writing, pain is depicted as something to be avoided at all costs. His whole philosophy of stoicism aims to remove pain and suffering entirely from life, as he considers it something... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, Tolstoy portrays pain as something that can be all consuming. For much of the text, Ivan is obsessed with his pain and suffering, from when it begins as a nagging pain in his side until he ruminates on it day and night while on his death bed. Tolstoy flips the script a little, however, because another key facet of this depiction of pain is that it s seen as something of a teacher. Through the pain and suffering that Ivan feels from confronting his own mortality and impending death, he learns about himself, what a good life really means, existential issues about the afterlife, and other related topics. He has epiphanies throughout the book, with the most memorable and poignant one, for me, coming when he considers if he lived a good life on page 213 in my book. Of course, the texts do have some similarities. As I ve discussed, two of them depict pain as something that can be all consuming, and sometimes overwhelming, as in Epictetus work. The former two works also show some good things can come from pain and suffering, such as healing or
  • 9. The Lightning Of A Lightning Essay Roughly 265 years ago a man rode horseback through a lightning storm with both a kite and a key in hand, in hopes to prove something questioned by many; Whether or not lightning is a form of electricity. The sight may be strange to see and even hear about, but in the name of science and proving that lightning is, in fact, a type of energy, Benjamin Franklin, a scientist at heart, would do anything to test his theory about lightning. Though he may not have wanted to use this knowledge to capture lightning and convert it into usable energy, he did want to protect people and buildings by creating a path of least resistance to the ground for the lightning to travel, most commonly known as the lightning rod. Despite being a genius, capturing lightning for energy may have been a bit far out of reach for Franklin, perhaps more attainable by another scientist. Nikola Tesla, like Benjamin Franklin, was also captivated by the phenomenon of lightning. Tesla, did not want to capture lightning, but create the electrical effects to the same scale as one of nature s most beautiful occurrences. Tesla s idea was to transmit electrical power without wires at high altitudes, the same way energy is transferred during a lightning storm (Uth, 2000). In the grand scheme, his idea was too futuristic according to the many who thought he was crazy, however with the right tools, Tesla could have made it work. Lightning, while intriguing and a seemingly large waste of energy, is not as easy to

Since you moved to New Port Richey a few months back, I have not suggested changing the location as I felt comfortable meeting there. However, since your move, I understand you only live approximately 5 minutes away from the church; making it an exchange location no longer half way. After this past Sunday, when I drove 30 minutes out of my way for the switch not to happen, I realized how unfair that is to me. For this reason, I would like to change the exchange location to be closer to the middle again. According to Google Maps there is slightly under 30 minutes drive (with no traffic) between our addresses, therefore I feel a suitable meeting spot is at Publix in Tarpon Springs. This is still further of a drive for me than for you, nevertheless I feel that it is an excellent location for a comfortable swap. • 12. The Classification Tree Is A Model That Uses Both... Classification tree is a model that uses both categorical and numeric inputs to predict categorical or binomial outputs. The software draws a graph composed of nodes and leaves representing different groups of data with same characteristics based on the model. The output looks like a tree, which provides viewers with a direct exhibition; therefore, it is a good tool we can use to make a statistical analysis. The classification tree model allows both numeric and categorical inputs, both of which appear in the data set, that can be utilized to predict our categorical targeted output: workday alcohol consumption level. The model s ability to handle both numeric and categorical input was the main reason why we decided that classification trees would be a good model to analyze our data. One of the most important changes to our data set, mentioned previously, was converting the workday alcohol consumption column into two levels: zeros, representing low workday alcohol consumption, and ones, representing high workday alcohol consumption. Moreover, since this data set contains the results of over one thousand questionnaire surveys, often times numbers recorded in the data set have more meaning than the number they represent. Take the Health variable as an example. If a respondent recorded a one for their health, it meant that their health was extremely poor; therefore, in this case one does not represent the actual number but rather extremely poor. It took us a while to manage

If we live in the country, we can identify with tropes of bush living or a rural lifestyle. If we are in the city, that place and cityscape can determine our way of life and sense of belonging to that place. Wooramaroo is the story told from the viewpoint of female protagonist Cara McGeever s ten year old son, Scott, and their change of place as immigrants from inner city working class Liverpool to Outback Australia in the 1970s. The novels that have influenced my story are Mullumbimby, Breath, and Heat and Light. Cara McGeever has suffered loss of place and identity through moving to Australia. Personal and community identity through place will be discussed through female characters Jo Breen in Mullumbimby, Eva Sanderson in Breath, and Pearl and Amy Kresinger in Heat and Light. Life in rural Australian presents strong community spirit and opportunities for Cara to belong to that space. Outback regions have a strong sense of place because their people experience commonalities such as dealing with the vagaries of nature. As Tuan (2001, 131) states, Attachment to place can emerge from the experience of nature s intransigence. The locals bond together in time of need, as we see at the end when the storm comes to Wooramaroo. Application Of Writing For Writing In regards to writing I have always struggled to meet all of the requirements for a perfect paper that includes a well organized text filled with rich analytical sentences. In the beginning of the semester I constantly worried about the structure of my writing and its overall material. In high school it was important for me to complete my essays by answering the questions that I was given, but in college, students go more into depth. College students are required to focus on grammar, and well structured ideas that flow along with rich analytical content. After I was given my first assignment I was pressured to improve my overall work by focusing on structure and developing analytical content. Assignments such as the weekly readings and writingassignments helped me improve my overall work. Through the narrative essay, artist research essay and Storify project I focused on many aspects that improved my writing. For all of my assignments it was useful to use techniques, such as, reading out loud to revise the structure of my work and going into depth with description. My first English assignment was to read the essays from the 50 Essays book, and reflect on these essays by focusing on their main idea. These weekly readings slowly taught me how to analyze the structure of different essays. Through the journal essay assignments I came across to a particular essay that grabbed my attention. • 15. The Consequences of Factory Farms Because of the conditions of the animals in factory farms, they are exposed to the potential of infections and diseases. Intensive farming interrupts and restricts the natural behavior of the animals, and this can increase frustration and aggression in them. When the animals are confined in small areas, this aggression can be taken out on one another. Farmers and factoryworkers conduct injuries to the animals for reasons intended to benefit the animals, but in reality they are inhumane, harmful and dangerous. Beaks are trimmed off of chickens to prevent them from pecking and biting one another. Tails are cut off of pigs to reduce the chances of them getting bitten by other pigs, and horns are grinded off of male cattle so the do not wound others. If these occurrences do not happen, the animals could harm one another, causing open wounds that could get infected. However, by inflicting these procedures on the animals, the farmers are creating abrasions, and often not treating or adhering to the care of the animals. This also creates the risk for infection. If an animal is subjected to an infection, the animal could suffer from pain, irritation and discomfort. The risk of a festering infection is also subjecting the animal to other diseases and illnesses. For a farmer, an unhealthy animal could be detrimental to the quality of the product being produced for consumption. If the meatcomes from an infected, sick animal, it would not be healthy to eat. Political satire is a humour technique widely used in political communication to express and ridicule the absurdities of its subjects in order to affect or prevent changes (Kaid and Holtz Bacha, 2007). The Oxford Dictionary defines satire as the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticise people s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. Satire is a manner that blends a censorious attitude with humour and wit for humanity and the human condition. Juvenlian satire is angry, personal and bitter in nature and harshly targets the wrong doers and corrupt political leaders in the society. Horatian satire, on the other hand, is more gentle, tolerant and witty. It uses laughter to bring a positive change in the society (Ritgero, 2009). Indirect satire does not address the readers in direct form. Indirect satires are usually fictional narrative, in which the objects of the satire are characters who make themselves and their opinions ridiculous or obnoxious by what they think, say, and do, and are sometimes made even more ridiculous by the author s comments and the narrative style. Therefore, satires have the goal to strike the evil and bring out the reality and advocate for changes in

Educators hammer down test taking strategies to students in preparation for end of course stage mandated assessment that when it is all said and done the students are tired of the test before it is even administered. Student achievement should be measured based on student growth and academic growth should not be the only thing educators should emphasize during the school year. Students need to character growth is a way to decrease the achievement gap and if the student improves their character then the achievement gap will be decreased through building students up from the inside out. If we are trying to decrease the achievement gap for diverse learners it has to be done in a way that is not singling students from diverse backgrounds as defined by society today. We have to understand that all schools are truly diverse because all students and families are unique and instead of creating lessons and programs for members of the school community that are considered diverse by today s societal norms, we should have lessons that embrace what all people have in common. Lessons and programs need to be constructed with the understanding that people are at different places in terms of becoming ready to accept the true diversity of our world. The following centuries brought a series of changes, some of them abrupt, leading to the so called Little Ice Age between 1550 1700 or later. The South Vietnamese President had also oppressed those of different religions specifically Buddhism ( NGO DINH DIEM, FIRST PRESIDENT OF SOUTH VIETNAM. ). There are a few alternatives to using fMRI such as positron emission technology (PET), but fMRI holds many advantages over PET as fMRI does not require radioactive injections, its total scan time is usually very short, and it is suitable to assist in a neurosurgical treatment plan for specific individuals (Columbia University, 2010). In the past few years the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging has exploded and it has really over flooded the market in terms of its applicability. There are a multitude of companies that are really pushing this technology for many different uses such as replacing the polygraph, using it to make life support withdrawal decisions, and even as a form of risk reduction for dating (Stix, 2008). This all sounds good in theory but the downside is that these companies are pushing fMRI technology for all these different uses without having a significant research performed to back up such hare brained claims. One of the many weaknesses of why fMRI should not be used in such cases is that the technology itself could be influencing its own results one way or the other. For starters magnetic resonance imaging uses distinct pulses of radio waves along with a very strong, rotating magnetic field, which may strongly interfere with the nearby circuitry required to process the signals seen to begin with an fMRI scan. The actual scan itself could be skewing the data obtained (Collins, 2001). The origin of fMRI signal and the meaning of

At a young age, we are enrolled in schoolfrom kindergarten to senior year of high school. When you hit high school you are preparing for your future; attending college, joining the work force, the military, etc. However, one thing seems to go unnoticed, this is the notion that a young ones career as a student is simply molded when they are in their elementary years. This now leads to the topic of this essay; Jonathan Kozol s book and his research on students from the inner city. It appears that Jonathan Kozol took the organization of his book very seriously. In fact, I believe that his book was organized very well. When it comes to the type of organization used, deciding which was used is ultimately up to the reader. Personally, I believe that Kozol used topical organization. The reason being is that each chapter had a different topic with an underlying message. Although at points it may have seemed that he was listing everything in chronological order, Kozol stuck with the examples that were relevant to the theme of that individual chapter. If Kozol were to use another form of organization, chronological perhaps, his book would not be much different. I feel that is he were to use this form, his powerful

  • 27. Analysis of Lucy Gayheart by Willa Cather Analysis of Lucy Gayheart by Willa Cather Lucy Gayheart is a young, spirited, intelligent music student from Havorford, on the South Platte River. In the winters, she attends a conservatory in Chicago, under the tutelage of Professor Auerbach. In Chicago, she lives in a room above a German bakery, where she takes her breakfasts and suppers. These small quarters do not distress her; indeed, she craves the solitude of her own will, her own piano, her own bed. She walks hungrily through Chicago, her appetite for life never disappointed by the thriving midwestern metropolis. She is beautiful, she is talented, and her young heart has never been broke. For a time, Lucy Gayheart feels the assurance of a bright future reaffirmed daily. And then a tragedy strikes, an undreamed of turn of events, something which happens every day, and yet which we never address, because it is unthinkable. So will Lucy allow tragedy to beat her down into an existence she has long scorned? Or will she find the mettle to not only endure, but to grow in the face of, her heartbreak? This book was published in 1935. Its syntax can be long winded, but its imagery is unforgettable. The author conveys a deep love for her fellow man, and for the inexpressible promise of a young life. I believe there is Lucy Gayheart in all of us. The small town character of Lucy was so typical and nostalgic in her quest for first, real, and unconventional love, much to the dismay of her rogue ish childhood admirer. The feelings and actions of Lucy toward both situations is so characteristic of youth and young love. This novel would appeal mostly to women, from the teens on up, who are looking for something to read on a cold, rainy day while sipping hot cocoa. It is a wonderful escape to a past time in America and life. From the beginning Lucy Gayheart held my attention. It had so many ups, and downs, twists and turns that it was captivating. The book was very descriptive and wordy, but instead of taking away from the book it added depth and clarity. It s detail allowed me to become part of the book. I felt as if I knew Lucy forever,

If it is not in the car while driving, it is while walking to class or just simply while doing homework. However, how many adolescents really pay attention to the meaning of the song or the poetic devices that are used throughout the song? Drake s song featuring Rhianna, Too Good, implies a message of love and explains how he tries his hardest to talk to Rhianna but she has seemed to have discovered herself without discovering their relationship; while they are conversing they are not understanding each other; throughout the song we see a pattern of similes, paradoxes, and imagery. In this song Drake uses the literary device simile. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A paradox is a statement or proposition that seems self contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth. (Dictionary.com) Throughout this song we see many examples of Paradoxes. He continually contradicts what he is saying. In the song he states Got me on flights overseas, and I still can t get across to you. (Drake lines 27 28) Through this quote he uses a phrase that contradicts its self, by saying he is on flights overseas but still cannot get across to her which gives the meaning of him trying to talk to her but he still cannot get through to her. The Paradox allows the listener to realize how difficult it is for Drake to get across to Rhianna. He continues to try and reach her but it seems as if it were impossible for him. This is another one of the problems that he is facing with Rhianna and another reason to why he is so hopeless about their relationship. It allows the listener to see how much Drake is putting into the relationship from his part. Making the listener
  • 29. Ottoman And Italian Charity And Charity According to Skocpol and Somers, one of the major uses of comparative history is to make observations about institutions and structures and how they develop in different nations. Now when one thinks about points of comparison, they probably think about broad categories like religion, the state, etc., these are all obvious categories for comparative history, a less obvious topic however, is poor relief and charity. How to deal with the poor (in this case, orphans, those out of work, the sick, etc.) is an almost universal problem that every state or polity in the early modern Mediterranean had to address in some form or another. This makes poor relief and charity a prime candidate for comparison. For example, take the Italian states and the Ottoman Empire. On the surface, you can find vast differences between the two, Italian city states were Christian and were often individual cities that were independent of each other; meanwhile the Ottoman Empire was a vast, Muslim state compromising large amounts of territory. Despite these differences, one can find similarities in regards to how charity and poor relief were handled.
  • 30. Thor In Giantland Essay This masterpiece, Thor and Loki in Giantland , is taken from the Prose Edda. The Prose Edda is a collection of tales written in Iceland during the early thirteenth century. The title is derived from the old Norse word meaning great grandmother. Combined with the Poetic Edda, these two books make up most of Scandinavian mythology. The author, Snorri Sturluson, was an Icelandic poet, historian, and politician. He hypothesized a new idea of religionon how gods are created: A war leader or king dies, and is later idolized after his or her death. For example, if a group is going into battle, then they will pray to the leader to help with their hardships and begin to venerate the figure. This particular work was written in honor of nobles, for love, or to commemorate current events. Throughout the selection, Thor and Loki in Giantland , the type of writing used is syllabic in structure and utilizes kennings. Moreover, kennings are periphrases that can appear as metaphors, but also are able to give the effect of riddles. In addition, another literary device used is dialogue. The conventions of the integrated musical were formed in the Astaire Rogers musicals made at RKO in the thirties and the form peaked at MGM in the forties and early fifties, most notably in films produced by Arthur Freed. Thomas Schatz has provided a useful definition of the integrated musical. `Rather than create a realistic or at least plausible world whose inhabitants find reasonable motives for breaking into song (rehearsals, shows, etc.) the music itself seems to determine the attitudes, values and demeanour of the principal characters. However, the actions of 1789 were not a random coincidence, and you can trace the roots of this massive upheaval back to a printing press in Paris, the rue Saint Severin, where the printers attacked the social order via a mass slaughter of cats. This feline atrocity occurred in the 1730 s and despite the absurd and seemingly cruel nature of it, the workers may have been justified. The account of the massacre is from the historian Robert Darton, from his work The Great Cat Massacre , and in it, he describes the story of a printer Nicolas Contat. A definition of project success from Lock is that if the project finish on time, within budget and in good quality, the project is considered as a successful project (Lock, 2007). However, our understanding about the role of project manager is unclear. Different people hold various viewpoints about it. According to Lewis, people have a vague understanding of what is the role of project manager, because a majority of project managers are promoted from other jobs such as engineers or technologists and so on (Lewis, 2007). Some individuals think that the role of the project manager is to command and control. Is it enough for a project ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Actually, Project managers do need to command and control. As I stated above, project manager is responsible for the project, which means that a project manager needs to control the project process for obtaining a successful completion of the project as well as to command the stakeholders to follow the right path to realize the project objective. But it is important to emphasize that command and control is a purpose, not a process. Just like Bull said that there is essential difference between a dictator and a leader, a dictator gives command to people for doing something, but a leader inspires people to let them want to do things. The role of project manager should be a leader, not a dictator (Bull, 2010). Lewis also thought that the biggest part of project manager s job is dealing with people. Even though project manager has quite little authority, it is not zero (Lewis 2010). Therefore, for project managers, the biggest challenge should be how to your limited authority effectively. To optimize the use of the authority, project managers need to build their leadership. Instead of using your authority to build your leadership, project managers should use their people skill which involves personality, management skill and communication skill. (Lewis, 2007, p. 27) So, command and control is a purpose, not a process. Which means that project manager should be a leader, not a dictator. More important thing than command and control As

This topic was explored throughout a novel called The Guinea Pigs, by LudvГk VaculГk. VaculГk was a notable Czechoslovakian author in the mid 20th century, while the novel takes place in Prague around 1973. The experiments the narrator forced on the guinea pigs, paralleled the governments mistreatment of its banker s each one became more invasive and more controlling. In the novel The Guinea Pigs, the experiments done on the guinea pigs become more invasive and controlling by the narrator throughout the book, just as the government agenda becomes more invasive and controlling towards the banks and the narrator. One of the first examples of an invasive and controlling experiment is when the narrator decided to put a guinea pig onto a moving record player at varying speeds. I carried him over to the phonograph and wondered what speed I should choose for him (VaculГk 118). This quote shows the narrator isn t considering the possible injuries for the guinea pig, when deciding to do this experiment which suggests that one of the only things the narrator is internally thinking is how he can rule over the guinea pig. The usage of the words, carry and I and him , highlights the hierarchy between the narrator and the guinea pig very apparent. The narrator is a person, while the guinea pig is just a household pet. The narrator thinks that the hierarchy between the two,
