2. Assessments For Students With Autism Spectrum Disorders Essay
Assessments for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Autism is a mental disorder, present from early childhood, characterized by difficulty in
communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract
concepts. (Classroom Assessment Theory into Practice, 2012) One in 88 children are diagnosed
with autism and the symptoms are usually noticed between the ages of 18 months and 5 years.
Typically, autism affects individuals in 5 key areas: Communication (verbal and non verbal), Social
skills, Behaviors, Learning, and Medical issues. Because this disorder has a dramatic impact on a
child s ability to learn, it is imperative that teachers understand the conditions surrounding autism
and know how to accommodate these students. (Classroom Assessment Theory into Practice, 2012)
Teachers can understand more about a student with ASD and how to accommodate the student by
doing different assessments. Assessments are an extremely important part of special education.
Teachers need to make sure that the assessments given to their students is correct in everyway
possible. It should be correct in what they are testing, meaning what the teacher or specialist want to
know from the assessment, is the information that the assessment is giving the students correct, on
how the assessment works, and all assessments must have validity and reliability. Assessments often

Regarding the various service quality models discussed in section 2.3.1 to 2.3.9 the gap model
considers the perceptions and expectations of the customers, the gap being the difference between
expectations and perceptions (P E). The model resulted in five dimensions that are generic in nature.
However, other models such as Technical and Functional Quality Model , Perception only Model
and Evaluated Performance and Normed Quality Model consider only the perceptions of the
customers. Technical and Functional Quality Model describes three components such as technical
quality (the quality received by the customer), functional quality (how the quality is received by the

instrument to measure customer evaluations of service quality [48]. Despite a leading instrument in
measuring service quality, a number of studies have raised concern about it [156,168 171]. These
criticisms relates to conceptual, methodological and analytical issues in SERVQUAL. The primary
issue raised in the literature is the conceptualization of service quality as the difference between
perception and expectation [159]. Cronin and Taylor, reiterate their views against the
disconfirmation based SERVQUAL scale of measuring service quality and continued to be
proponents of their perception only approach to service quality measurement. Further, the use of the

low reliability, poor discriminant validity and spurious correlations [168 170]. Parasuraman et al.

Dance has been an important part of my life since I was 5 years old. I will never forget the first

which was really just for fun, until I wanted to get more serious as a dancer. In 6th grade I
switched to a different studio that has changed me not only as a dancer but as a person. I started

In spite of this, how could life possibly emerge? The answer is within the skies. It rained for
millions of years and seas of lava eventually turned into seas of water, becoming a gateway for
life to possibly emerge. Along with this are the other goldilocks conditions such as energy and
chemical elements, mostly carbon which Earth is in abundance of. So now that the Earth
became a hospitable place in which life could emerge, how did it really emerge? Life emerged
under the oceanic vents where simple elements formed amino acids that are keys to creating
protein and nucleotides that are keys to creating DNA the deoxyribose nucleic acid is the key to
life as it contains genetic information for what is to come. Life came from the oceanic vents which
had enough heat energy and chemical energy to form the first prokaryotes the simplest form of

that is more complex which is the eukaryote which now has a nucleus and organelles that are
crucial to life. As life in water emerged and the eukaryotes bonded together creating multi celled

The history of banking in Kenya dates back to the colonial period. Colonial rule brought in its

1890s. The operations of these foreign owned banks were characterised by high degree of
concentration, branch banking, an almost exclusive concern with financing external trade and for
many decades, a lack of interest in, or involvement with, the African population.
As Kenya became more and more part of this capitalist world economy, the banks established
themselves in the colony to provide services for financing exports and imports. Three British banks
dominated banking in colonial Kenya. The National Bank of India (later National and Grind lays
Bank) began operations in 1896. It was followed in 1910 by the Standard bank of South Africa
(later standard Bank and Standard Chartered), and shortly thereafter the national Bank of South
Africa entered the field. In 1925, the latter merged with two other British banks to form Barclays
Bank Dominion Colonial and overseas (later Barclays Bank).

Fair Trade
Who am I? I work around twelve to fourteen hours every single day, I make barely enough money
to survive, I work in some of the most dangerous conditions in the world, and I am exploited
based on the poverty I live in. I am a garment worker in a developing country. While most people
would assume that this describes slaves a long time ago, this is actually a current issue that we
have a much greater impact on than we may realize. When we purchase clothing from stores such
as H M or Forever 21, with every dollar tank top, or a cheap pair of jeans we purchase, we are
encouraging this sort of modern day slavery. The label for Fair Tradewas created in 1988, and over
the years, the certification has changed rapidly and now there are a number of standards
companies have to abide by to achieve the Fair Trade label. Due to this, consumers are now

Abstract Twitter has become one of the most important communication channels with its ability

finds the optimal segmentation of a tweet by maximizing the sum of the stickiness scores of its
candidate segments. The stickiness score considers the probability of a segment being a phrase in
English (i.e., global context) and the probability of a segment being a phrase within the batch of
tweets (i.e., local context). For the latter, we propose and evaluate two models to derive local
context by considering the linguistic features and term dependency in a batch of tweets,
respectively. HybridSeg is also designed to iteratively learn from confident segments as pseudo

Booker T. Washington (1856 1915) was a standout amongst the most persuasive (and questionable)

He took the first chance to go to a formal school, Hampton Institute, which prompted residency and

22. Transformational Leadership Aspects Of Military Basic...
To fully understand the transformational leadership aspects of military basic training, one must
have a picture of what basic training is like. Most recruits are young, and are leaving home for
the first time. In the Air Force the first week of the six and a half week course is controlled
chaos for the fifty five recruits who are placed into a flight, which was a part of a larger
squadron. We woke up 4:30 am every day, saluted the flag, did physical training, showered, ate,
attended classes, and learned the ways of the Air Force. Every day was highly scheduled and full
of nonstop learning. We marched everywhere and had no free time. This was pretty much the
schedule until week five, which is known as warrior week, when recruits packed up their
belongings and headed out to tent city, where we learn to fight, survive, and teamwork. After
warrior week finished we returned to our normal dormitory and prepared for graduation.
Military basic training is not only for the development of recruits, but also transforming the recruits
into the Air Force s ideal followers. Transformational leadershipin its optimal form, creates
valuable and positive change with the end goal of developing followers into leaders
(Transformational Leadership, 2016). When I went through basic training in 2006, it was a six and
a half week course which tested every part of me. Every day of basic training was mentally,
physically, and emotionally intensive. While the beginning of basic training was about

23. When Senior Year Came Up
Then senior year came up. Since I loved California and since I didn t want my parents to pay for
the extra out of state tuition, I decided to apply to in state (California) schools, such as
Universities of California, California State Universities, and Private Universities. As I was
applying to colleges, I decided to apply as a Statistics major. Even though I have never taken
statistics classes before, I knew Statistics would be the best option for me due to many reasons.
First of all, I was really good at and loved math, and I thought a degree in Statistics would get me
better jobs than a degree in Mathematics. Secondly, I enjoyed playing around with baseball data,
baseball stats and thus, I thought I could be able to play around with more baseball data if I
study statistics. Finally, during my senior year, I never knew what field (sciences, business, social
studies, etc.) I really wanted to get into and I felt that statistics can be applied to basically any field
and thus would not hurt me in the future when I find something I really wanted to do. After five
months of crossing my fingers and being nervous about my collegeacceptance, I got all my
acceptance letters and rejection letters. Other than San Diego State University, I was given three
other universities to choose from. As a result, my spring break of senior year was dedicated to
visiting Universities and deciding which college I should go to. After a week or two of thinking, I

24. Esther And Judith Essay
Scripture or Not: Esther and Judith
Esther, an early secular novel, never mentions God but is Scripture (included in the canon). A
Jewish historical novel that portrays Judith, who saves her people through honoring vows, praying
and creative action; has been rejected/accepted in Judaism and Christianity so that it is Scripture
/not Scripture depending on the applied canon (list of authoritative/sacred works). For Protestants it
is not (Countryman; Coogan 8). Disparity in treatment of these works is attributable to the
evolution of the Hebrew/Old Testament canon. In fact, only the Torah has generally been accepted
since Old Testament times.
The Hebrew Bible included, along with the Torah, the closed sets of Neviim (prophets) and
Ketuvim (writings) together called the Tanakh (Coogan 3 4). These, including Esther, were
upheld as canon at Jamnia (AD 90) by agreement with three criteria: written prior to 399 BCE, in
Hebrew (with allowances made for Aramaic), and widely used (Schwab, Sharon; Coogan 5 6).
Esther was set in the Persian period and possibly written as early as the fifth century BCE
(Crawford 855). It provided etiology and the megillot used for a celebration not prescribed by the
Torah; and was included for this reason (Coogan 518, 6). Judith may have originally been ... Show

25. Core Functions of Case Management
The case management process consists of five parts: assessment, treatment planning, linking,
advocacy, and monitoring. It is not a linear process and does not follow the order it is written up.
There may be some back and forth and returning to certain points.
Screening
Contact between an addictions counsellor and a client is usually initiated by the client referring
him/her self, an outside agency refers them, family physician or the addictions counsellor initiates
contact through outreach or other agencies. Assessment can be seen as the beginning of treatment

Although the main goal of the assessment is to refer clients to treatment, many clients refuse
treatment. However, they are willing to accept referrals to non addiction agencies to resolve
problems that have either been caused by addiction or that led to the problems. This assessment
may be an intervention that the client needs. You will want to use the appropriate research based
screening tools that may be applicable to the client s individual circumstances.
Treatment Planning
The treatment planning process helps the client select the level and intensity of treatment that
works best for them. When planning treatment the counsellor can consider preferences and the
services available. The treatment plan may change over time but it provides a focus for ongoing
support. The treatment plan comprises of two main functions, it allows for a negotiation between
the client and assessor for specific interventions to address the identified problems as well as allows
them to develop a manageable plan. It is important when negotiating with the client that the
counsellor listens to what the client wants and is capable of undertaking with agreement to
implement. Each client is unique and every treatment plan should also be tailored to meet his or
her needs. The client must agree to all aspects of the plan. The treatment involves four stages,
prioritizing problem areas and exploring options with the client, matching services available to the

The case of cultural artifacts being divided from their origins is not a new issue to arise in the art
community. The Parthenon (Elgin) Marbles are a source of controversy between modern Britain

years, when it was built to honour a goddess of wisdom, Athena. The Parthenonhas been a Christian

Assessing the SAT s Aptitude in Predicting College Success
The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is a widely popular method of college admission test. Like
many other admissions test it is used to help colleges select students who will be successful in
college. Upon reading the source material, however, I began to question the legitimacy of this
academic test. In the first article of the source material, titled Can you Make Yourself Smarter , the
topic of intelligence testing was addressed. The article also mentioned more accurate and effective
forms of intelligence testing and the use of intelligence improving games in schools. Upon
mentioning schools and effective ways of measuring intelligence I began to wonder whether tests
administered in school, like the SAT, were effective in what they are designed to do. These tests
hold such great bearings on the academic careers of students I wondered whether the test should
be used at all. This lead to the question; should SAT be used to predict college success? In this
paper success will be defined mainly though grade point average (GPA). While this is not the
only way to define success it is one of the most measurable indicators of success. The first of the
two perspectives addressed within this question will be no, the SAT should not be used. Due to the
underwhelming amount of support for the opposing yes argument, the other perspective will
investigate if the SAT will work if changes were made to it.

29. Importance Of Leadership In Public Administration
For centuries, leadership has been studied and used as a theme in many works of literature. The
Egyptians had the word leadership written in hieroglyphics. The Chinese studied and wrote about
the responsibilities of its leaders to the people. Homer, Plato, and Aristotle wrote about leadership in
their literature. Authors such as Caesar, Cicero, Seneca, and Plutarch wrote about leadershipas it
related to administration. (Bass Bass, 2008). By 1948, Stogdill was able find 128 studies of
leadership that he classified according to the traits of importance of leadership: capacity,
achievement, responsibility, participation, and status. (Bass Bass, 2008). Leadership will continue
to be studied as more questions arise about its importance in public administration.
Studying leadership is important in public administration because in organizations, effective
leadership provides higher quality and more efficient goods and services; it provides a sense of
cohesiveness, personal development, and higher levels of satisfaction among those conducting the
work. (Van Wart, 2003). The study of leadership in public administration is also important in that
public administrators have to be involved with many different levels the administrations. Because
of this involvement, they must be able to connect the different levels of the administration with
their leadership. Secondly, the leadership skills of a public administrator must be strong enough to

A Rebuttal to E. R. Dodds On Misunderstanding the Oedipus Rex
In On Misunderstanding the Oedipus Rex, E. R. Dodds takes issue with three different opinions
on Oedipus Rex. I consider the first two opinions, which Dodds gleaned from student papers, to be
defensible from a close reading of the text. The first of these opinions is that Oedipus was a bad
man, and was therefore punished by the gods; Dodds counters that Sophocles intended for us to
regard him as good, noble, and selfless. But the play would seem to indicate that Oedipus, while a
clever man, is not a good one this can be shown through Dodds own source of argument, the
attitude of the chorus, as well as through Oedipus own actions onstage. Oedipus does not, as Dodds

However, the driving force of Oedipus fact finding mission is an attempt to end the plague
which racks his city. He does not realize the personal consequences his hunt will have for him,
and his loyalty to the truth (23) is based on his ignorance of it. In fact, if we examine the events
leading up to Oedipus revelation, the incidental nature of his quest for identity becomes
apparent. First, he summons Tiresias to name the killer, whom Oedipus does not at the time
believe to be himself. Then a messenger arrives from Corinth, unbidden by the king, revealing
that Oedipus is not truly Polybus son. Finally, the shepherd reveals all of Oedipus past, after
having been called for the purpose of providing more information about Laius death. The
coincidental nature of these events is somewhat at odds with Dodds vision of Oedipus as a sort
of Greek private detective who relentlessly ferrets out clues in a self destructive search for his
parents. Oedipus is eager to find the truth, but the most pivotal witnesses for the true story of his
birth either come to him of their own volition, or are convened by Oedipus in the hopes that they
will tell him something entirely different. In the end, he resigns himself to the truth which would

Career Information Systems: An Overview
The best known computer based career information systems are the state based career information
delivery systems (CIDS). Serving over 9 million customers yearly at more than 20,000 sites, CIDS
operate in 48 states and provide information about occupations and educational programs within that
state (Mariani 1995 96; National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee 1996).
Although CIDS have been developed by a number of different vendors and customized for
particular audiences, they share the following core features (ibid.):
Assessment. Most CIDS now have one or more online tools that help users assess their values,
interests, skills, aptitudes, or experiences as well as the characteristics they expect from a job.
These assessments help users learn about themselves and the qualities they might prefer in a
career. A relatively new feature of CIDS, skills assessments have proven especially helpful to
experienced workers who need to find a new career.
Occupational Search. The occupational search feature allows users to match personal
characteristics with compatible job and career possibilities. Some occupational searches are based
on the results of the assessments, but, in others, the user selects and rates search variables that are
then used to generate a list of occupations. Users may also simply access an index of occupations

According to Olowe (1997), Financial Ratio Analysis is the relationship between the performance
of a company and the monetary data in the financial statements to assist the economic conditions.
Financial ratio was defined by Robert (1994) as two financial variables being used that have been
taken from either the income statement or from the balance sheet.
Ratio analysis is a tool that is brought in by individuals to perform an evaluative analysis of
information in the company s financial statements. It is an important tool of financial analysis and
it focuses on the figures given in the income statement, fund statements and balance sheet. The
figures are taken from the current year which is used for calculating the ratios and it is then
compared to the previous years, other firms, their industry, and also the firm to evaluate the
company s performance. Moreover, ratio analysis is primarily used by proponents of the
financial analysis. In fact, ratio analysis is commonly used in business. The role of ratio analysis
is its significance as a means for a company to perform an internal evaluation of its performance
over a stated period. The role of ratio analysis is to perform and evaluate within the company
based on its performance over a period of time. An important feature of ratio analysis is that it gives

35. The And Of The Hebrew Bible
A man once said, Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one s life for one s friends (John
15:13). This belief is shared by the tribes of Israel featured in the Hebrew Bible. This small nation
requires each Israelite to be willing to die for the moral code and religious statutes handed down by
their god, Yahweh. This ideal of selflessness is evident throughout the Hebrew Bible, but especially
so in the stories of two midwives, the mother of Moses, and a prophet called Amos. Here, Israelites
show the importance of being willing to sacrifice anything for their society in the forms of their
community, their family, and their God. In the very first chapter of Exodus there are two
women who emerge as unlikely heroes. The tyrannical king of the Egypt gave two Hebrew
midwives strict orders to, observe [the Hebrew women] as they deliver. If the child is a son, kill
him, but if it is a daughter, she may live (Exodus 1:16). However, instead of obeying their
oppressor, Shiphrah and Puah let the male infants live. When pharaoh questioned the midwives as
to why male babies were surviving, they pushed their defiance further by lying to him. As a result
of Shiphrah and Puah s actions the Israelites, multiplied and became very numerous (Exodus 1:20).
If the midwifes had been caught in their deceit they would have been killed. Instead, they were
willing to risk their lives in order to help protect their community s youngest generation and
therefore the nation s future. The

Cross cutting issues in the curriculum disaster risk reduction. Cross cutting issues are issues that
touch a number of different aspects of the society, on general principles such as democracy, human
rights, good governance, children s rights, gender equality, population and family life education,
poverty alleviation, environment and development. Integrating crosscutting issues into teaching
makes the education offered meaningful and relevant to the individual and the society at large .
Accidents are prone to happens at an time and anywhere, where disaster management is introduced
early to learners so that they know how to react to therefore avoid causing more destruction; for
example in the fatal security drill that occurred Strathmore university in 2015 where security
experts faulted the fact that students were not aware of the drill and had not been prepared on how
to react in such a situation.
Preparation reduces damage and vulnerability. So the KICD empowers learners by preparing them
for anything that may happen and how to move on incase of a disaster.
The concept of disaster risk management is introduced into the curriculum through various means
for example the teachers resource handbooks that are developed by the KICD.

were wrong about some of our elected officials. Truthfully, it also has a little to do with our system.
The surreal kind of Democracy that we possess is not our clear solution right now. It is convincing
that the current Philippine government system is linking between democratic and authoritarian. It
will be more likely to achieve more improvement if we change our system gradually. The
democracy we have in our country is not the democracy it should be. People are becoming
reckless and undisciplined. Our country is not capable of providing us with some of our basic
needs, especially when it comes to our benefits which are minimal. We deserve the right kind of

42. Space Landing Pros And Cons
That s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind, Neil Armstrong said on July 20th,
1969. Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon and he was accompanied by Buzz Aldrin.
Apollo 11 launched on July 16th, 1969 and landed on the moon on July 20th, 1969. The objective
of the space landing was a national goal set by John F. Kennedy. Armstrong and Aldrin spent 21
hours on the moonwith seven hours of sleep. But is this all true, or is it all a lie?
Body of Research:
On July 20th, 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon. Or did they?
Actually, yes, NASA did, but that hasn t stopped conspiracy theories from surfacing. Conspiracy
theorists have made people believe that humans never set foot on the lunar surface, and that the
entire effort was massively staged. In many of pictures of the landing, the American flag that Neil
Armstrong put up has ripples. But how is this possible, once you put it on surface there is no
wind? Well scientists have said that the flag s edges are pulled taut. They said when you do this
effect, which was done purposely, you put a stiff wire into the fabric. They did this because instead
of letting the flag hang flat, the wire creates ripples.
Another conspiracy is that they re multiple shadows in the moon photos prove there was more than
one source of light. Again scientist debunked this theory too. When taking the pictures the
astronauts were on a hilly, brightly lit landscape while the sun was close to the

43. My Favorite Time Of The Day
I wake up to Azan blaring from the loudspeaker of the mosque beside which I lie down daily to
rest my limbs. We do not have dedicated meals, you see. There is no breakfast or lunch or
dinner. If the resting of limbs aligns with a partially filled belly, I feel the day is well spent. This
is my favorite time of the day, though. Supposedly different people looking alike, with freshly
groomed up bodies but sullen faces rush about in the same direction, like the swarms of flies. I
overhear their conversations sometimes, or rather I would say complaints; complaints about the
traffic, crowd or taxes. I wonder whether they realize that they actually make up more than half of
the things they complain about. For example, the crowd. But... Show more content on

I usually hit the small shops. The big ones have started putting men to keep off people like me.
This wasn t my routine though. I used to visit houses before. There was a time when they were
occupied by people more than they actually had room for. The doors were usually open, and if
not for the adults, the kids running about often handed me some coins. Now things have
changed. Houses are small, occupied by even smaller number of people. And forget about the
doors, even the windows are shut tight. So when I get no luck with the shopkeepers, which is
usually the case, I lie down for a nap. The earnings of the day are now over as I hardly get any in
the evenings when the swarms of flies rush back to their places. With faces grimmer and more
sullen than the morning, I am usually pushed off with a chiding this time. The nights are pretty
with the glimmering of lights. I like to sit alone near the pond overly grown with vegetation and
observe the shinning bulbs all over the city while I have my supper. There are more like me,
hidden in open visibility among the roads, bridges and sides of stalls. We are ghosts to the
people behind those lights, floating around with no destination, occasionally making their
presence known for some coins before disappearing into the luminous darkness. I slowly walk
back to my resting place as the most of those glimmering lights go off and shop shutters go down.
As I lie down and close my eyes, I hope to pop up in the fiction land

44. Barium Enema Essay
Everyone should know that a lower GI is a very common and important exam used to diagnose
many colon conditions. A lower GI examination, also know as a barium enema, is an x ray
examination of the large intestine. The large intestine, or large bowel, consists of the entire colon,
including the appendix, rectum, and sigmoid colon. This commonly performed test is essentially
the predecessor to the more familiar colonoscopy. A lowerGI is used worldwide to help diagnose
fatal diseases and many other problems that affect the large intestine.
Some of the reasons that your doctor might order this exam are if you are experiencing diarrhea,
constipation, blood in your stool, unexplained weight loss, anemia, to screen for colon polyps or ...

The barium is then released from the bag and begins to flow slowly into your colon. As the
barium begins to fill your bowel you will feel some pain and pressure, and an urgency to have a
bowel movement. The doctor will watch the barium as it moves through your intestine on a TV
screen, using a special live x ray called fluoroscopy. You will be asked to turn to different
positions, and the table may be tilted slightly to help the barium flow through your colon and to
take x rays from different directions. Sometimes a slightly different version of the test may be
done. It is called a double contrast barium enema. If a double contrast study is being done, the
barium will be drained out, and then air will be injected into your colon. As you can imagine with
the air contrast study, the amount of cramping and pain increases, due to the expansion of the
bowel with air. After all of the films are taken the enema tube is removed, and you are taken to the
restroom to expel the remaining barium and air. One or two films may be taken afterwards, to check
how much barium is remaining in your bowel. The entire test takes anywhere from thirty minutes
to one hour. After the exam you may resume a regular diet, and be sure to drink plenty of liquids to
replace those you have lost and to help flush the remaining barium out of your system.

45. Argumentative Essay On Drug War
The U.S Drug War, it has been talked about greatly by politicians, and spoken about countless
times in the news, however, the majority of people do not fully grasp the entirety of this subject,
let alone its inner workings. Like the fact that this is not a recent issue, this war, which some
people think has just been going on for the past few decades, actually started about a century ago.
When people barely noticed the severity of the problem. Even now in the present, people still do not
know the situation such as, how the current policies have not worked and the damage that has been
done to the nation. The U.S. Government should rethink how it comes up with its drugpolicies.
This issue started many years ago and will keep on going for several more to go. It started in the
U.S. about 100 years ago. The grandfather of American drug law is the Harrison Narcotics Act,
passed in 1914 (Eldredge 99). The law was meant by the U.S. Congress essentially to ensure safe
record keeping (Eldredge 99). Before that act was introduced there was very little being done about

people away from drugs by using the media. The Media Campaign Act of 1998 directed the

46. Juvenile And Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile delinquency is a social issue in the United States today. Juvenile delinquency, is when a
violation of the law is committed by a juvenile and is not punishable by death or life imprisonment
(Juvenile Delinquency). The juvenile system is different from the adult system in many way and
most juvenile delinquents are from the age of ten to the age of seventeen (Juvenile Delinquent).
Once the delinquent or anyone is at the age of eighteen, they are considered to be an adult.
Therefore, in the justice system they are tried as an adult. There are many different reasons why a
child would commit crime, such as mental and physical factors, peer influence, home conditions,
neighborhood environment and school conditions. Teens are greatly influenced by the interactions
and surroundings they are around. Their behaviors can result from the parent and/or their peer
influences. Parents play a great role in the child s life and a teen s peers also play a strong role in
how the teen behaves when the parents are not insight. This research will examine links between
the social environment of teens and how it influences the teens actions and behavior which leads
them to commit an offense.
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to determine if there is a link between the influences in a
minors life and the delinquent behavior they are committing. Juvenile delinquency is the habitual
committing of criminal acts or offenses by a young person, especially one below the age at

47. Literary Elements In The Mysterious Stranger By Mark Twain
Mark Twain s The Mysterious Stranger is a novella featuring the experiences three young boys
have with a supernatural creature named Satan. Mark Twain, whose writings had begun to reflect
the darkness that resided in his mind, attempted several versions of the story and died before it
was finished. His editors took over and wrote the rest before it was finally published in 1916.
Possessing literary elements of strong narrativestructure, unique setting, complex characterization
and dark romanticism, this narrative made for an engrossing and peculiar account of Satan. These
elements are furthermore crucial to the analysis and deeper understanding of what exists within the
text.
Narrative structure is the foundation for a story; it provides the framework and how the text is
presented to the readers. In The Mysterious Stranger, Twain takes his audience to the winter of
1590 in the Austrian village of Eseldorf. Three boys, Nikolaus, Seppi, and Theodor have multiple
encounters with a handsome, stunning creature named Satan, who claims to be an angel. They
are amazed at all the magic Satan is capable of and the stories he tells them, and the boys become
very quickly attached. They find themselves witnessing the work of Satan as he alters the villagers
lives, such as the Priest, the astrologer, Ursula and Marget, and even Nikolaus. While his work
seems to always end in disaster, he gives a plethora of excuses to soothe the boys minds.
Throughout the story, Satan constantly brings

48. Alan Wardle s Discourse Community Analysis
When one has authority in a discourse community they need to know how to use it appropriately.
In Wardle s reading she gives an example of this about a guy named Alan joining a discourse
community within his workplace. As we know, Alan was a computer support specialist in the
humanities department, who was young and just out of college. Alan left his first job because he
thought that he was not granted any responsibility (291). He then found another job within the
university working on computers. Right off the start Alan was making decisions as being the only
computer specialist within the start of his new position. As Wardle states, Alan did not have to
necessarily prove his knowledge like most people who start a job (292). The first mistake... Show

In the discourse community he was apart of all of them had a highly literate, hyper aware language
users, who valued professional, grammatically correct, Standard English in written communication
(Wardle 295). Another one of Swales points in his criteria is that a discourse community has
some sort of lexis, meaning a language specific to that discourse community (Swales 222). Alan s
form of communication to his community was email, however, his co workers were older than
him and saw the way he would write his emails as informal and inappropriate (Wardle 294). Alan
did not adapt to the change and even resisted from changing his ways of composing emails. Alan
believed since he had authority they would adapt to his style. As a result he was not able to
communicate with his community, which is necessary for a discourse community to function. With
Alan choosing not to participate it resulted in disturbances and breakdowns in work processes
(Hasu and Engestrom 65)(Wardle295). As we can tell from Wardle s story about Alan and Swales
criteria for a discourse community, it might not be always difficult to obtain authority but is
difficult to use that authority within your discourse

DIBELS measure early reading skills such as phonemic awareness, alphabetic awareness,
vocabulary and oral language, and fluency comprehension. The tasks associated with these
measures include initial sound fluency, phoneme segmentation fluency, letter naming fluency, and
nonsense word fluency. In order to interpret the data regarding Alice, a fourth grade student, it is
important to look at each of these skill areas. Alice was given the Initial Sound Fluency and
Phoneme Segmentation Fluency, which are designed to assess her phonological awareness. She

Multinational Corporations Affect Workers In the text, International Political Economy, Thomas
Oatley and Debates: In Praise of Cheap Labor: Bad Jobs at Bad Wages Are Better than No Jobs at
All explain to their readers the different aspects of the political economy. This paper will begin by
looking at multinational corporations. Next, the paper will analyze the strengthens and weakness
on multinational corporations and its affect on workers. Lastly, the paper will give a personal
evaluation on whether the author (s) are convincing or if they are missing certain information.
Multinational corporations occupy a prominent role in the global economy. In the beginning, they
emerged as significant and enduring components in the international economy in the nineteenth
century. Great Britain was considered one of the largest capital exporting country during that
century. By the year 2008, the number of these corporations was eleven times the number in
operation in the early 1980s. Ultimately, the number of MNCs continue to grow within the world s
economy. The decision that these firms make are based on global strategies for corporate success.
They are not focused on the conditions within any of these countries in which these firms conduct
their business in. Multinational corporations work simultaneously in national political systems and

51. The European Union Of Ban Commercial Seal Products

This paper delves into the disputes brought against the European Union by Canada and Norway.
In doing so, the specifics of the disputes will be discussed and the World Trade Organization s
policies and procedures that have thus far allowed for the European Union to ban commercial seal
products from these two countries. The research done on the topic of sealing will cover the
regulations in both the Canadian and Norwegian seal fishing and also how their communities are
impacted economically. The European Union s main argument is that neither of these countries
regulations on humane killing are efficient enough in ensuring that humane killings can occur at all
times. Because of this, they continue to defend that their regulations go ... Show more content on

They have several arguments, including the following: seal products from Canada and Norway are
treated less favorably compared to the European Union s (EU) domestic seal products and
Greenland s, the EU Seal Regime (measure that prohibits seal products into the EU) creates
obstacles and trade restrictions that are unnecessary and that some of the procedural requirements
go against requirements of the conformity assessment, Travellers conditions create quantitative
restrictions on trade, and the Regime hurts any benefits accrued to them under covered agreements
(Panel Report, 2013). The EU, on the other hand, claims that their Seal Regime meets obligations of
the World Trade Organization(WTO). Three conditions applied to seal products are as follows:
the products were received from seals hunted by Inuit or Indigenous communities, the products
were received from seals hunted for marine resource management, and travelers are allowed to
bring seal products in limitation. The EU claims that the regulations put into place in 2009 and
2010 were implemented because of public moral concerns involving the welfare of seals; people
should not cause suffering of animals without clear justification (Europa, 2013). The EU argue that
inconsistencies claimed by Canada and Norway within the GATT 1994 should be considered as
justified because they are working to protect public morals and seals health. They also argue that,
under the TBT Agreement, any

53. Critique Of The s Theory
Critique of Experiment 2
Many experiment fall folly due to the many factors they need to get correct. Like most studies the
practitioner needs to create a hypothesis that is actually testable and test it on a group of people
they can get. The participants are the foundation to the whole study. With them you are able to
prove whether your hypothesis was correct or not. These and many more factors are why
psychological studies are incredibly to execute and do properly.
The hypothesis of this study states, Participants who had been primed with the elderly stereotype
would walk more slowly compared to participants who had not been primed with the stereotype
relevant stimuli . This basically means that the experimenter believes that words related to the
elderly population and none related will affect the rate in which the participants walk. Their
hypothesis seems achievable because in my experiences I find that we as people relate to word
association and because of this our behaviors can be slightly modified to match the words
presented. This hypothesis is seems testable because it doesn t seem completely absurd due to the
actual experiment they planned to conduct.
In this specific study, they are aiming to construct an environment where participants will have to
unscramble words either related to elderly concepts or non elderly concepts. The participants
chosen from this study were all Undergraduate NYU students, 30 males and females. I think each
participant qualifies

54. Piaget s Theory, And Developmental Theories Of Early...
There are four types of developmental theories that early childhood educators study:
sociocultural, biological, behaviorist, and cognitive development. Each of the four theories has
shaped the way early childhood education has been designed in recent years. The main reason to
study these theories is to discover how children typically develop and what early childhood
educators can do to help facilitate their growth Teachers who are knowledgeable about child
development and learning are able to make broad predictions about what children of a particular
age group typically will be like, what they typically will and will not be capable of, and what
strategies and approaches will most likely promote their optimal learning and development.
(NAEYC, 2009, p.9). A cognitive development approach to learning states that children are actively
involved in the learning process. To them, learning comes naturally and they don t need much
external motivation or a system of punishments and rewards driving them to master subject areas.
One important aspect of Piaget s theory of cognitive development is how children learn to process
the information they receive. Assimilation, accommodation, and equilibrium are steps in the
learning process. A child is introduced to new information, relates it something familiar, and
decides to change their existing viewpoint based on this new information. A child builds their
expertise based on schemas, or prior knowledge, at each stage of the learning

55. I Want A Wife, By Judy Brady
In Judy Brady s essay, I Want a Wife , she explains the roles that wives performed in the mid 1900
s. Brady has an incredibly sarcastic tone to her essay and finds it hysterical that husbands want
their wives to fulfill their commands. In the past, women were expected to stay at home and take
care of their children. Their lives consisted of cooking, cleaning, and making sure they greet their
husbands when they came home from work. But times have changed; the roles of women have
evolved. Now, we see women doing all types of things. They have more opportunities to do what
men can do. Since the 1950s, women have experienced a huge change in their status as wives,
which can be seen through their ever changing independency, work status, and appearance.
Nowadays, women are more independent. Ever since the 19th amendment passed, women were
able to vote. This was one of the first steps that helped women get to where they are today. Voting
has allowed women to speak their minds. It was the first step to prove that both men and women
deserve to be equal. It was soon more socially acceptable for women to choose their own paths.
Men no longer were able to legally dictate their lives. For example, not too long ago, a women
needed a man to sign for permission whenever she wanted to open a bank account or purchase a
car. Now, women do not have to worry about this as it isn t a concern anymore. Women are now
allowed to buy new homes and property without having to be married. This allows
