Rhetorical Analysis On Dave Barry
I found Dave Barry s article to be very funny, but true. Throughout this article Dave Barry states
his bias opinion on the way he views college. He is basically making fun of the education
system. Dave Barry uses his humor in a way of arguing the concept of how we are learning
things that we will never use in life. I think this article is similar to the other articles we have read,
but uses a different tone to express it. The other articles we have read were based off the education
system also. Many of the articles were against the system, just as Dave Barry is. The other articles
we read were more persuasive and informative, than an argument. They contained more evidence
and facts. Davy Barry did not have facts in his article, but opinions.

Application Of Property Theories Of The Beacon Hill
II. Application of Property Theories
A.Utilitarianism
The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population s utility when a property
decision is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory, one
must define and aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost benefit analysis.
A popular measure of utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a
person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value to be aggregated in the cost benefit
analysis. However, a strict welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because
welfarisim is too individualistic and decisions regarding public property and disability access will ...

Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced by
members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision
increases a person s wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision, as some
parties, like tourists, do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision.
Determining the value that individuals place on the current handicapped ramps and surrounding
sidewalks in Beacon Hill, necessitates looking into the different groups of interested individuals
affected by the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision.
Individuals with disabilities that require accessible handicapped ramps pose a problem for
determining the values that these individuals would give the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp and
surrounding sidewalks. Beacon Hill serves many different functions for people. For those
persons with disabilities who live on Beacon Hill, updated handicapped ramps could mean the
difference having access to their homes or having to move. For this group it is easy to determine
a value for this analysis, as the price they are willing to pay to live in the area. Beacon Hill is
populated with various government offices and private businesses, therefore a cost benefit analysis
must factor in the value that individuals

Selecting A Form Of Entity For Doing Business
Selecting a form of entity for doing business.
Tax payers, who are business owners, including the self employed, have choices regarding how to
set up their entity for tax purposes. Generally, the following options are available for tax payers:
Sole Proprietorship
Single Member Limited Liability Company
S Corporation
C Corporation
Sole Proprietorships do not file any documents, including annual reports, with the Secretary of
State. Accordingly, they do not have legal or creditor protection.
Sole Proprietorships prepare Schedule C as part of their Individual Income Tax returns, with
exception to farmers who must file Schedule F. The Schedule C is the most simplistic form for tax
filing purposes, when it comes to business. Sole Proprietors may need to file Schedule SE.
Generally, self employed business owners can set up fringe benefits (i.e. self employed health
insurance deduction and retirement plan) for their business. Self employed health insurance and
retirement deductions are reported on page 1 of the individual income tax form as an adjustment to
gross income. Discrimination tests have to be met for the self employed health insurance if the sole
proprietorship has employees.
Under the family member s rule, as stated in Circular E of the IRS: Child employed by parents.
Payments for the services of a child under age 18 who works for his or her parent in a trade or
business aren t subject to social security and Medicare taxes if the trade or business is a

Stereotypes In Raymond Craver s Cathedral
Raymond Craver s popular short story Cathedral is a story with three main characters: narrator,
narrator s wife and Robert the blind man. Craver uses the fictional origins characterization and
perception to make Cathedral an effective story. Cathedral is a story about two friends and a third
person, visiting each other. This fictiontakes the reader through a journey between two men which
teaches the spectators that it is possible to break personal grudge and stereotypes. During the
course of this whole short storythere is a sense of tension rising between narrator, narrator s wife
and Robert. The narrator in this story plays the role of a jealous husband who is filled with
jealousy because of relationship of his wife with Robert. Through... Show more content on

Narrator s jealousy even extends to Robert s relationship with his former wife. Narrator looks so
thoughtful for a long time and decides that how can a blind man marry with a woman whom he
is unable to see (205). On the other hand narrator is able to see his wife, but fails to see into her
feelings, the way Robert could see into his wife s soul. Narrator s blindness to the feelings of his
wife seems to divide them in their marriage. She shares greater emotional intimacy with Robert
than she does with her husband, because they have talk about (include some of things they talk
about that reveal how deep their relationship is). To get away from the current reality of his
relationship with his wife and his jealousy of Robert, the narrator uses mind diverting
substances. He explains: I smoked dope and stayed up as long as I could my wife and I hardly went

Trade Liberalization Can Boost Productivity By Inducing A...
INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND INNOVATION
Submitted By: Muhammad Yousaf
Submitted To: Priit Vahter
Introduction
The trade liberalization can boost productivity by inducing a better allocation of production factors
or the adoption of more advanced technologies. The trade integration reallocates market shares
towards exporters, the most productive firms, increasing aggregate productivity. The resulting
increase in revenues can induce exporters to invest in new technologies. The major advantage of
Chinese trade had been lower prices for consumers in the developed world (Bloom et al. (2011)).
The further discussion about different searches could be found below.
Discussion
The major advantage of Chinese trade had been lower prices for consumers in the developed world.
The increased Chinese trade has induced faster technical change not only innovation but also
adoption of new technologies. Bloom et al. (2011) discover that the absolute volume of innovation
(not just per worker productivity or patents) increases within firms and industries more affected by
exogenous reductions in barriers to the country s imports.
The following three problems were discussed by Bloom et al. (2011). (i) The data from the last
decade used to examine the recent role of trade in affecting technical change in developed countries.
(ii) It has examined off shoring to China, and (iii) the impact of imports on patents, information
technology (IT), research and development (R D)

Fake Identity, Rumors, And Cyberbullying
Before discussing the problems, arising from the inappropriate use of social media networks, it is
helpful to understand what social media are. Kaplan and Haenlein (2010,p.210) define social
media as a group of Internet based applications that build on the ideological and technological
foundations of Web 2.0(cumulative changes in the way Web pages are made and used) . Social
networks, based on social media, allow individual (1) public personal information within a
bounded system, (2) find people who share a same connection, (3) view other people s connection
(Nicole, 2007). With technology more and more mature, social networks encompass nearly any
online activity. However, broad activities and blurred boundaries trigger inappropriate use, leading
to many problems. This essay will focus on fake identity, rumors, and cyberbullying.
The first problem is about fake identity. Internet identity is a social identity, established by Internet
user. Compared with national identity, Internet identity is more unreliable. A new regulatory
filing displays, 8.7 percent of its 955 million monthly active users worldwide are actually
duplicate or false accounts (Kelly, 2012). Minority people use fake identities based on
professional, security or creative reasons, such as identity not suitable to be disclosed, famous by
another name than the real one (Eler, 2012). However, more people are using fake identities for
deception.
Fake identity creates a new definition of the word Catfish .

The Curiosity Rover
Mars has long been an unachievable goal for all nations. Starting in 1969, the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration (NASA) aimed to change that. With missions ranging from observing
climate to taking photos, NASA has examined the surface, atmosphere, and subsurface of Mars. In
2011, NASA launched the Curiosity rover with the goal of discovering organic compounds
essential to life on the surface of Mars(Administrator, 2017). This mission, Vit Rover, named after
the prefix meaning life, will continue the work of the Curiosity rover and answer three questions:
Can the organic compounds on Earth sustain life? What kind of life does the climate of Mars
permit, if any? Can humans and Martian life coexist without disruption? These questions... Show

navigation, altitude, and trajectory will be altered and monitored. The approach phase will
include entry, descent, and landing and will occur between January and February of 2023. The
last phase before the objectives of this mission begins is rover egress. Rover egress will include
an antenna launch, taking photos of Mars surface, calibrating scientific instruments for use,
selecting a suitable path for the rover to take, and standing the rover upright. After this stage, the
rover can begin to roam on Holden Crater and complete the objective of discovering life on

What Are The Benefits Of Raising The Driving Age To Drive...
Too Young to Drive
The other night I received a call in the middle of the night from my best friend. Her older
brother, Vijay had been in a terrible car accident, and even though the doctors said he would live,
it was going to be a long and painful recovery. Vijay is 16 years old, and like most kids his age
had eagerly awaited being old enough to get his driver s license. At the time of the accident, two
of Vijay s friends were passengers in his car. The friends admitted that they had been changing the
radio station and goofing around while Vijay was driving, and that he may have been distracted
when he veered into oncoming traffic. This car accident is proof that driving and minors do not
mix. Raising the legal driving age to 18 will save lives.
Statistics show the potential for danger every time a teenager gets behind the wheel. According
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), car crashes are the leading cause of
death for teens in the United States. In fact, drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 are three times
more likely to be in a deadly car crash than older drivers. In 2010, seven teenagers between the
ages of 16 and 19 died every day from car related injuries. In addition, the Insurance Institute for
Highway Safety states that the drivers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In the Year 2812
The year is 2812. The world has fallen into ruin. The governments of the world do not get along
with each other. A secret coalition of peace seekers from the 5 countries in the world, America,
Spain, Germany, Russia, and Egypt, meet up (What used to be North America, South America,
Africa, and Asia. Australia is no longer a continent as it merged into Asia in 2098, causing
tsunamis on the west cost of the U.S. and earthquakes large enough to be felt in Europe. Spain
retreated to South America after Germany invaded the rest of Europe and conquered it all
again). The secret group decides to send 2 people from each country, one male, one female, to
the nearest known livable planet in the next solar system over. There they were supposed to start
a colony on that planet. But of course, it did not go right. The American government had
intercepted the transmissions and had sent spies to the meeting. The two people from America
were working for the government, and as soon as they got to the planet, they started causing
trouble for all the others, spreading hate, discontent and lies.... This continues on for 33 years,

A Study of the Healing Process from Slavery and Racism Essay
A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated, but the moral growth of a
great nation requires reflection, as well as observation, to appreciate it. Frederick Douglass
When you think of slavery, you may want to consider the effects of an earthquake because that s
how powerful it was. Like many earthquakes, slavery produced various damaging ramifications
to everything around it. This included devastation to family structures and in worst cases the
loss of human life; and without doubt slavery claimed the lives of many just as Harriet Jacobs
expressed I once saw a slave girl dying after the birth of a child nearly white. In her agony she cried

According to Frederick Douglass, it was the blood stained gate, the entrance to the hell of
slavery, through which I was about to pass. It was a most terrible spectacle. I wish I could
commit to paper the feelings with which I beheld it (p.4). Frederick Douglass and Toni Morrison
literatures examine the stigma of slavery, and the perceptions of its dangers. They illustrate what
life was like and the mental as well social impact it had on enslaved African Americans and their
life after gaining freedom. Richard Wright convinces his audience in Black Boy that he was tired of
the limitations and outcries in the South I was not leaving the South to forget the South, but so that
some day I might understand it, might come to know what its rigors had done to me, its children
(284). Alice Walker obtains her readers attention by transforming young women into their own
characters with a voice using spiritual guidance. In Native Son, Bigger has achieved is lost after
being apprehended and brought into captivity, as he transitions back into silence and passivity and
begins to recover only in his final confrontation, whereas Douglass in the same prevailing
convention, only heals after the regaining of his freedom. Through these literatures, and many
others, African Americans find multiple ways to alleviate and recover from the intensity of
undesired bondage and bigotry. In essence, Douglass born into

The Importance Of Community Service In The Community
Last week I went to the Paulist Center in Boston to help serve a community breakfast for the
homeless. Every third Saturday of the month the organization sets up breakfast for the homeless
people around the Boston area. I decided to volunteer in the community service for two main
reasons. First, to help others in need. Secondly, I have not been involved in many community
serviceprojects through Sebs so I wanted to open new doors. This was my first year in the
program and it has definitely has changed my perspective in my life. I made the journey up to the
Paulist center by leaving at 6:45. I thought that on a Saturday morning the commotion outside
Boston would almost be minimum, but I was wrong. There were many people outside walking
around with cars parked everywhere. When I arrived to the Paulist Center I was greeted by Mr.
Eaton at the huge, dark red walls. My classmates and me made our way down to the basement
where the breakfastwould be served. The whole room reminded me of my cafeteria back in
elementary school. The room was desolate. There wasn t a single thing on the ground, like the
tables. In order for the day to be completed, my classmates and I must set up everything needed
for the day through cleaning the breakfest up. Right when I show up my classmates and I start by
rolling the tables out of the chair and placing them on the white and gray floor. After arranging the

What is a regulation?
One thing all US banks have in common is that they are all financial institutions regulated by the
Federal Government.
The optimum word here is, regulate. A word, which by itself, without a noun to precede it, means
to adjust by rule, method or established mode, as to regulate our manners by the customary forms;
to put in good order, as to regulate the disordered state of a nation or its finances; to subject to rules
or restrictions as to regulate trade. (Webster Dictionary, 1828)

Currently, venture capital (VC) funding trends for FinTech and the developments in large
categories such as wealth management, blockchain, remittance tech, and insurance tech, certainly
do seem to be in the process of changing the face of payments and the contemporary relationship
that the payments industry has with banks.
In the aforementioned article, Dan Ciporin, general partner at Canaan Partners, is reported as

loan underwriting.
If they don t adapt, big banks are at risk of becoming utilities, like Verizon ... dumb pipes, said

The future of banking lies in open systems, he said, which banks are simply unable to create. I just

have arisen naturally out of the limitations in banking operations. If you think about the structure of
how banks make money, on some level they store money at extraordinarily low rates and lend it
out usually on the credit card side at extraordinarily high rates, so if you can find a way to lower

Define Social Deviance
Deviance is by definition the fact or state of departing from usual or accepted standards,
especially in social or sexual behavior. Social deviance is a very extensive term, which describes
actions or behaviors that violate social norms. Norms are just rules by which members of any
society are expected to uphold. Social deviance has many forms and interpretations. However,
deviant acts can vary in different places thus they are primarily relative to setting, because what
could be considered deviant in one place could be considered normal in another place.

Informative Speech On Hurricanes
I am speaking to you today at the annual Caribbean Studies Association conference to discuss and
address the concerns and issues surrounding the rebuilding of many of the Caribbean islands, which
have been devastated after this past 2017 hurricane season. Hurricanes Irma and Maria, both
category four hurricanes, have wreaked havoc on the Caribbeanislands of Barbuda, Puerto Rico,
and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Both of these hurricanes were catastrophic, causing significant deaths
and infrastructure damages costing billions of dollars. Recently, it seems like there have been
significantly more of these types of disasters happening than in the past; and the intensity of these
disasters have increased as well. But let s delve into why these post colonial societies are so
vulnerable to these types of natural disasters and what can be done to better prepare for these
disasters in the future, by looking at one of the large scale earthquakes that has shaken the
Caribbean island of Haiti. Haiti was struck with a magnitude size 7.0 earthquake...outside of the
Haitian capital of Port au Prince (COHA 2) in January 2010. This disaster killed several hundred
thousand people and caused many others to no longer have their homes. Billions of dollars in aid
have assisted Haiti in their efforts to rebuild the country. But, three years later, 80 percent of the
population still subsists below the poverty line with an unemployment rate of 40 percent (COHA

fed predominantly by groundwater which flows from the limestone aquifer. And about two third of
the catchments is use for gazing while the other is use for arable farming. (Holman and Vale.,
2009). And the lakes can be level lowered through evapotranspiration and groundwater which
discharge to the sea.
Geology
The geology of Pembrokeshire is well known for the coastal display of diversity of rocks and
scenery over 250 miles exposure than any equivalent area in Britain. It has ancient landscape
which was formed many years ago (290 million) at the end of Carboniferous period. The geological
process and action such as river weathering, glaciations and marine erosion on this variety of rock
is as a result of diversity of coastal landscape.
Aim

Christmas Truce Essay In 1914
The Christmas Truce
When Europe marched to war in the summer of 1914 each of the warring nations believed that
the fighting would be over in a few weeks. Instead by the end of December the First World War
had already claimed close to a million lives and there was no end in sight, but on December 25th
1914 at several points on the Western Front, there was a brief respite from the fighting called the
Christmas truce.
The Christmas truce was a series of unofficial ceasefires along the Front and a brief celebration of
the holiday with gestures of good will and humanity between the enemies. A more formal
Christmas truce had in fact already been suggested by Pope Benedict XV three weeks earlier, but
the warring nations refused such an official act. This brief meeting of enemies as friends in no man s

Symbolism And Imagery In Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep
In this essay, I will focus on Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep. I will try to analyze the
symbolism and imagery of Los Angels in this Raymond Chandler s fiction. The Big Sleep talks
about a dying millionaire General Sternwood hires Philip Marlowe (private detective) to handle the

Marlowe finds himself involved with more than extortion. The Big Sleepis Raymond Chandlers first

novel. It was published in 1939. At that time, the Great Depressionwas raging and World War II
was coming. The Big Sleep is set in 1930s Los Angeles and Hollywood. Los Angeles serves as
the setting for most of Chandler s novels. Probably no writer has evoked images of Los Angeles
for more readers than Raymond Chandler. David Fine points out Raymond Chandler makes Los

Frederic Jameson points out that Chandler uses the plot device of Marlowe waiting in his office

Marlowe, whose sensitivity indicates the nature of the world around him. Marlowe s retreat into his

Summary Of Self Respect By Didion
Weekly Critique 2 Summary of the reading Self Respect by Didion is an essay that compares a
lot of things about self respect to our lives. In the beginning of the Self Respect essay, the author
talks about the situation she experienced when she was nineteen years old which had to do with
the failure to be pledged to a college honor society. She did not have the grades to qualify her to
be pledged into the honor society, which made her come to a realization that we are not handed
out things in life rather, we have to earn them no winning smiles will do over here, no pretty
drawn lines of good intentions (Didion 2). She also realized that we are not judged in this life
based on who we are but on what we have done to earn them and that made her feel a loss of
innocence the day I did not make Phi Beth Kappa nonetheless marked the end of something and
innocence may well be the word for it (Didion 2) hence making her understand that all situations
have a consequence. This essay compares people with no self respect to children sleeping in the
bed they made for themselves showing us that children who did not make well supported beds did
not sleep well at night. This shows us that people without self respect lacked the very foundation to
teach them about it the measure of slipping prestige is that one tends to think only of homely
children (Didion 4). She also lets us understand that the things we do to earn respect as children is
not the same we do as adults. The things she

The Extent Of Personal Responsibility
The Extent of Personal Responsibility Taking place in two hemispheres from one another, the
plot to Khaled Hosseini s Kite Runner and Phillip Roth s Nemesis have few common elements
to observe if one were to look strictly at the plot. However, looking deeper reveals that both
novels have startlingly similar elements and themes; ranging from fear, to a rejection of god. The
most significant theme in both of these novels is the concept of personal responsibility a concept
that defines Amir and Bucky and drives the way they act, in addition to influencing the plot of
each novel. Starting with protagonist Amir in Kite Runner, the pivotal point of responsibility is
first introduced when Hassan is raped by Assef following the conclusion of the kite runner
tournament that Amir won. This moment is the single most significant moment in the entire
novel: I stopped watching, turned away from the alley (67). This quote establishes the theme of
personal responsibility, and this very event would go on to define Amir throughout the entirety of
the novel, as Amir would go on to decades later to state: We had both betrayed the people who
would have given their lives for us (197). Another point is established with this, that being the
question of how far claiming responsibility go before being considered unreasonable? Looking at
this particular scene, one has to wonder, what could have Amir have been able to do in this
situation? While fleeing the scene is debated as a lack of

Master Harold and his Father in Athol Fugard s Master...
Master Harold and his Father in Athol Fugard s Master Harold
Master Harold is very similar to his father. Although Harold probably doesn t want to become like
his father, or think like him, he will grow up to be just like his father. When Harold gets involved
into arguments, only then does his fathers instincts kick in. Although Harolds father is never in the
play, we can learn a lot about him just by Harold and a single phone call. Harold inherited his fathers
need for power and control, his racism, hatred, and negative attitude.
Harold likes to be in control. In Harolds family situation, his fathers dominates his mother. For
instance when Harolds father made up his mind that he wanted to leave the hospital, ... Show more

Now between Harold and his father, his father dominates him easily. Because of this Harold may
want to feel like he?s somehow in control of something, and that?s why he treats Willie and Sam
the way he does. I think Harold loves Willie and Sam, like Harolds father loves his wife, but
because Harolds father is in control, Harold wants to feel somehow in control too.
Harold is prejudice against black people. Though he may not know it, or might not want to
admit it, Harold is racist. This is also another way Harold argues with Willie and Sam. He argues
that because Sam is black he doesn?t know as much as Harold or can?t learn anything to
complex. He also argues that he is far too civilized and well mannered to be hanging out with
black people who are nothing more than servants. Then again this just might be another excuse
for Harold to win an argument. For instance, Harold deliberately told Sam what he thought was a
funny racist joke just to hurt Sams feelings. Now this is a joke that Harold shared with his father,
and this is how they spend their time together, making prejudice jokes about black people. Harold
became racist because of his father. Their racist jokes are the only thing that brings them together.
They make jokes about people who are less then them so they can feel more dominate in society.
It?s the only thing Harold knows of to make his father happy. This also means that Harold and his
father don?t

The topic of climate change is an on going debate between organisations as it is the greatest long
term challenge facing the international community (Exhibit 11). And with a contribution of 25.9%
of CO2 emissions, which is the highest amongst all sectors (Exhibit 11), it collides with Generation
s philosophy of maintaining investments within solely environmentally friendly companies.
However, although Generation s research includes climate change as major theme, other themes
such as poverty/real needs and human capital are also imperative issues when looking at
investment possibilities, and as coal is an inevitable power source for the country , an ethically
green company such as Generation could support future investments in building cleaner, more
sustainable coal plants. Additionally, ABB India offers turnkey systems and services for
transmission and distributions for power grid and power plants (Exhibit 8). These are
implemented by the company to focus on energy efficiency and improve performance showing a
clear positive approach in enabling a less wasteful grid system. As India is heavily dependent on
coal, with forecasts portraying that is it the largest CO2 emitting country after the U.S and China,
dedication to reduce CO2 levels is likely to be a slow process. Also as increased international
competition from other multinational companies is

The Use Of Deep Water Cooling In Lake Ontario
To begin with, Deep Lake Water Cooling, or DLWC for short, is an alternate method to air
cooling systems. DLWC is a method that is now used in Toronto. Basically, the concept behind
it is that water that is drawn from Lake Ontario for Toronto s water supply, is now drawn from
deep within it to be used for air conditioning. At the bottom of Lake Ontario, highly dense cold
water can be found. During winter, the water in Lake Ontario drops to cool temperatures, and this
surface water sinks to bottom of the lake when winter passes. Since this cycle continues every
year, chilled water will always be found at the bottom of his lake, allowing for this water to be a
completely renewable energy source. An initial study was conducted in 1981 and report

that has been consumed has not gone down the right way or if the food has not been properly

The most common symptom that most of the people face during a bout of acidity is the regular
distress that they feel in the digestive tract. The main reason for this condition is that, the stomach
produces an acid to breakdown the food to help digestion. If this acid is not produced in the right
amount, leading to the improper breakdown, the acid starts to accumulate and starts to move up the
food pipe causing the digestive distress (http://www.joybynature.com/collections/digestion).
Another major cause for the acidity is the consumption of oily foods and missing out on meals
during any part of the day. In both the cases, again the acid that helps in the digestion will be
produced in excess quantity than the usual and in the end will reach the heart if it does not have a
proper place t go to. This leads to a condition called as heartburn (http://www.joybynature.com

problems. Garlic and

Essay about Speech Sounds by Octavia Butler
Feminism and Breakdown of World Order in Speech Sounds
As statistics show, science fiction has long been a genre produced and consumed by nerdy, middle
aged, white men, with little to no social skills. The content of science fiction has typically revolved
around intergalactic interaction and male dominated adventure and exploration, most certainly do
not imagine that science fiction can be used to write about feminist thoughts or ideas. However, this
is exactly what Octavia Butler does in her short story Speech Sounds. Many scholars believe that
feminist science fiction writers write toward a utopian society. Butler, however, tends to write more
towards a confrontation with dystopia. A dystopian society, or anti utopia, is a society... Show more

The people with the ability to vote, and to have their voice heard, were the upper class white men.
African Americans and women were not given this option, this power. Rye also embodies this in
the story. When she comes across the two abandoned children that have the ability to speak, she, as
one of the few who can also use language, finds herself with more power than she ever thought
she would have again. Rye must now become a teacher and a protector (Butler 380). Because she
can speak, Rye has a responsibility to these children to teach them how to also use this skill.
They now look to her as an authoritative figure. Had she been more impaired and mute, these
children would have never viewed her as someone to listen to, to follow. Rye has become
powerful in their eyes. Rye is aware of this power she now has when she declares that if the
illness let these children alone, she could keep them alive (Butler 107). Rye is, in a sense, the

One week leading up to the wedding is a very busy time for both the bride, groom and both
families, they hold many rituals and traditional events. Firstly there is Haldi, this is a holy bath
where turmeric, oil and water is applied by married women to both the bride and groom. This is
like a spa/ beauty treatment, it makes their skin glow and is intended to make them look
beautiful for the big day and to protect them from evil spirits. Secondly there is Mehendi, this is
an all ladies party where they apply henna designs to the bride s hands, feet, arms and legs. It is
said that the darker the henna the more the husband will love his wife. After this ceremony the
bride does not leave the house until the wedding day. The ladies who attended this are usually
close friends or relatives and it is traditional to sing songs which bless the bride for a prosperous
marriage. After the marriage the bride does not have to do any housework until the Mehendi has

the bride s family. This is a ceremony where they celebrate the bride and reminisce about her
youthful days. They sing folk song and dance, after this they snack on sweet traditional dishes. The

Large Scale Rotating Rig ( Lsrr )
UTRC Large Scale Rotating Rig (LSRR)
One of the first rotating turbine research facilities to conduct aerodynamic and heat transfer on
blades was the United Technologies Large Scale Rotating Rig (LSRR). This facility researched the
rotor blades and heat transfer measurements transfer in low speed turbine environment.
The first three rows of the test rig represented a high bypass ratio aircraft engine. The outlying
parameters of the facility are as follows;
This 1.5 stage low speed facility operated from laboratory air conditions at about 1 atm inlet total
pressure and 294 K inlet total temperature with a flow coefficient of 0.78. The experimental turbine
having a 0.8 hub/tip ratio had 22 first vanes, 28 first blades, and 28 second vanes. The model
airfoil chord lengths were about five times full scale hardware chord lengths. The rotor speed was
about 410 m/s and atypical airfoil Reynolds number was approximately 560,000 that were typical
of high pressure turbine airfoils. [UTRC]
The overall effect of the turbulence and stator rotor interactions were recorded and studied for
turbine heat transfer analysis. Time averaged loads on airfoil surfaces not being influenced by
unsteadiness in the presence of temperature streaks was a result of research on this test rig.
The unsteady computations in the experiment clearly showed that pressure sides of turbine airfoils
operate at higher temperatures than the suction sides in the presence of non uniform temperature
gradients. The

The Light Of The Labyrinth By Wendy Dunn
The term rhetoric is defined as a skill of speaking or writing in order to persuade or impact
someone. Not everyone is required to have the same views on a particular topic or subject in
order to be a good rhetorician. I believe that Anne Boleyn is a prime example of someone who has
a wide set of views about herself. Throughout this course we have been given different texts and
films about Anne Boleyn, and they have all shown Anne from a different perspective. These
different outlooks of Anne allow readers to form their own opinions and decide for themselves
who Anne Boleyn really was. We ve been able to see her character portrayed in the documentary
Henry and Anne: The Lovers Who Changed History, the book The Creation of Anne Boleyn, and

This young audience would then be exposed to a positive version of Anne, which would in turn
influence how they would see her. I believe this novel greatly impacted what would go into my
interpretation of Anne Boleyn, because I do see Anne in a respectful way. In my opinion this
book is a great example of rhetoric. As defined before rhetoric can be a piece of writing that is
used to persuade someone to think a certain way. Since the book is fiction, most would probably
assume that it is just for entertainment. However, if you step back and look at the big picture, you
can definitely see a hint of persuasion in it. I feel that Dunn was able to influence her readers to
think of Anne the way she does, and sways them to look at Anne in a not so typical way. This
novel also shows great support for feminism. Feminism is a belief to advocate women s rights and
interests. Both of the main female characters, Anne and Kate, show an immense amount of strong
traits and interests. They are both mature, honest women who stand up for what they believe is right.
Another work that has centered around Anne Boleyn is the documentary by Suzannah Lipscomb
called Henry and Anne: The lovers Who Changed History. The goal of this film is to try to reveal
the truth about Henry and Anne s love story while also providing a different idea of how the two

Free Trade Has Been A Part Of The Liberal Prescription
Free trade has been a part of the liberal prescription for international relations for a long time
where it is often defined as the economic policy that allows imports from and exports to foreign
jurisdictions. Unlike trading within nation, free trade allows buyers and sellers from separate
economies to tradegoods without the domestic government applying tariffs, quotas, subsidies or
prohibitions on their goods and services. Therefore, free trade is often seen as desirable because it
allows customers to get what they need with the lowest price along with the good quality, thus it
promotes economic efficiency for both the nationand its citizen. Free trade is necessary and

Therefore, due to the division of labor, free trade allows Japan to buy oil for the lowest price, while
Saudi Arabia could buy rice for the lowest price. Using the similar example of English and
Portugal where Portugal produced cheap wine, and English produced cheap cloth, Shimko states
that It is a division of labor and free trade that allows English and Portuguese consumers to have
both good and cheap wine and cloth (Shimko, 137). It is, thus, free trade becomes more necessary
and desirable due to the division of labor where free trade promotes the increase in productivity and
economic efficiency.
Furthermore, free trade is desirable due to the primary of the consumer. Shimko portrays the
primary of the consumer through the idea that the consumers should be able to buy what they need
with the lowest price, regardless of where the products are produced. Shimko emphasizes that
everyone is a consumer where free trade is desirable because it makes products cheaper for the
individual consumers, but also benefits the community as a whole. According to Shimko, free trade
benefits both the individual consumes and the community where it leaves the consumers more
money to buy other things which directly helps to increase economic efficiency within the
community/nation (Shimko, 138). For example, because of free trade, Mr. A is able to buy the
coffee he wants at the cheapest price. Mr. A, then, is left with more

Difference Between The House And The Senate
There are many differences between the House of Representatives and the Senate. For one the
House of Representatives is bigger than the Senate. There is not a lot of media coverage in the
House as it is in the Senate, members in the Senate are elected every six years as for the House
are elected every two years. The House has a reputation of being much more contentious and

by district, so winning that seat is a lot easier than the Senate, for simple fact you are going for a

Chicago, which had combined a report on the statistics of homicides taken place in the year 2015
and 2016. The number of homicides taken place in the year of 2016 has soared by record high of
67 percent than the previous year. Chicagois one of the busiest and advanced cities in the world
and getting such high numbers in the field of crime is a shame and leaves a bad impression on
the rest of the world. The violence related to guns has also increased enormously and according to
Chicago Tribune , 2,958 people have been shot dead by now this year. Though the data shows that
the homicides by gunhas decreased significantly but the number is still a problem. The gun violence
now is a serious problem and the current situation demands strict gun laws.
During the past years gun violence has seen an enormous increase in various parts of the world and
majority of the cases been reported in the United States. The case includes victims such as children,
senior citizens and young adults engaging in violence or getting caught in the crossfires. The life
of common people is being affected, people are concerned as to how they can live safe lives
when guns are being used in increasing numbers. On an average, every day you hear about some
sort of gun violence affecting people either in your hometown or in another part of the world. It is
a shame for a country like United States to have such high

Black And Decker Ergo Electric Can Opener Analysis
You are hosting a party and you want people to stay out of the kitchen and enjoy themselves. But
for some reason everyone always ends up in the kitchen. The kitchen is where you and your friends
sit and chat over a hot cuppa, having that International Coffee moment. Your children do their
homework at the kitchentable. With their friends they raid the refrigerator. The kitchen is truly the
heart of the home. Feng shui places great importance on the kitchen. Placing the stove in the proper
location to benefit the cook and thereby the whole family is fundamental. It is also necessary to
have the correct relationship between the stove and water in the kitchen. What you see upon
entering the kitchen and while you are working there is also significant.... Show more content on

I have been lured in by so many that just won t worth the money. They look appealing as they
always work exactly as they should on television. There are, however, some kitchen gadgets that
I heavily rely on and will always have in my kitchen. Here are my top 5 kitchen gadgets. Number
five on my list is the Black and Decker Ergo electric can opener. This can opener is very nice.
When our old electric can opener finally went out after ten years of service, my husband picked
up this one. It s cordless and rechargeable. To use, just clamp it onto a can, press the handle and
let go. There is no need to hold it as it travels by itself around the can, stopping once the lid has
been completely cut. Cleanup is easy as the cutting mechanism easily pops off the unit. It comes
with a charging base. This is great for my kitchen that has very little counter space and limited
electrical outlets. Rival Hand Mixer is number four on my list of top kitchen gadgets. The mixer
comes with own cup that has a spout for easy pouring. I use this every morning to fluff up the
eggs before cooking. The hand mixer has a low and high speed. Cleanup is a breeze and doesn t
take up that much space to store. The only thing that would make this hand mixer better is if it
were cordless. Black and Decker Handy Chopper Plus is number three. This small, electric
chopper makes chopping anything a breeze. I have chopped everything from onions or Oreo
cookies, and it does a great job on everything. The chopper is small so it takes up little counter
and cabinet space. The parts are easily cleaned, and you can store them on the base so when you
are ready to use again all the parts are there. It is easy to operate. Put the bowl on the base, place
the blade in it put in your items to chop and secure the lid. Then press the button for about 15 30
seconds should do the trick. Number two on my list is different sized funnels. Funnels are extremely

Third Culture Kids
To all my fellow third culture kids
You know when you discover a new word and all of a sudden you notice everyone using it in their
vocabulary? Paradigm shift was something I learnt the first time when my anthropology professor
used it, and then three days later I heard my chemistry teacher use it to explain the development in
chemistry; specifically, about how famous German chemists would build off of each other s ideas
and cause paradigm shifts in the world of science.
That isn t the term I care much about though. Third Culture Kid, was the term that ended up
capturing exactly how I felt. The colour of my skin didn t seem to reflect the values I believed in.

Examples Of Dialect In Their Eyes Were Watching God
The Novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston, follows Janie as she recounts
the story of her life to her best friend, Pheoby. Hurston uses language as a powerful narrative
device shows the readers the characters dialect as they speak throughout the novel. The above
quotation, from page seven, gives the reader some insight into Janie s life. It tells the reader that
Pheoby and Janie have known each other for a long time, and consider each other friends and
confidants. It also is an introduction to dialect at the beginning of the novelthat sets the stage for the
story that Janie is about to recount. The first chapter of the novel opens with Janie returning to a
place where she left long ago. When she arrives in the town, Janie bumps into some acquantainces
on her way to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She then visits with her old friend Pheoby, and after some small talk to catching up with each other,
Janie tells Pheoby that Tea Cake, whom the reader can assume from this first chapter was her
husband, has passed away, and due to his passing, Janie returned to the town. After, they settled in
for Janie to confide in Pheoby her entire story. From the above quotation, you can insinuate many
things about the character that is speaking. This was something that Janie said to Pheoby. She
said, We been kissin friends for twenty years. This tells the reader that the ladies who are
introduced in the first chapter are older and have known each other for over twenty years. It also
shows that the women trust each other and are able to confide in each other. When Janie says, Ah
depend on you for a good thought, one can assume that Janie

Winter Break Research Paper
During the winter break, I did a lot of things and I spent most of the time with my family and
friends. One of the things, I did during the break was to go meet my uncle in Hayward,
California. It was a very long drive but it was worth it. When we went there I met cousins who I
haven t seen for a long time. Then my cousins and I went to the mall to do some shopping. Then
on our way back from the mall, we went to theater to watch a movie. We spent our Christmasin
Hayward and I got a lot of presents. Then we came back to Bakersfield one day after Christmas.
Second thing, I did was that I went to go meet my elementary friend. She wanted me to come
over to her house. So I went to her house and we did a lot of stuff. First, we baked cupcakes and
cookies. Then we watched a movie and after that we played... Show more content on

We played musical chairs and many other games. I also read a book called Nory Ryan s Song by
Patricia Reilly Giff during the winter break. For New Year s my cousins from New York came
and we celebrated it in Bakersfield. When they came, my dad and I went to go pick them up
from the airport. On our way back from the airport, we stopped at In N Out Burger to get
something to eat. They stayed in Bakersfield for 5 days. We planned a party for the New Year s
which was pretty fun. One night we planned to stay awake the whole night just to see if we can
stay awake. But none of us stayed awake for the whole night. When all the days passed and they
had to leave, I was pretty sad that they were leaving. In the spare that I had in this break, I
watched T.V, listened to music, and read books. When there was only one days left of winter
break. I was sad because I didn t want to go to school. The day before our school started, my whole
family went to eat dinner at an Indian restaurant. So this winter break was really fun and I spent it
with my family and friends. These were some of the things I did over my winter

Lab Report On Osmosis
The Osmosis and Diffusion lab was conducted to provide us with information on how built up
mucus affects those conflicted by the recessive genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis., due to a mutation
to the membrane regulating chloride (Cl ). This mutation prevents the Cl from leaving the cell
causing the amount of sodium (Na+) in epithelial cells, which results in extreme mucus on the
lungs and airways causing this disease to be fatal if not treated but treatment does not equate to a
long lifetime. During the lab we took the data from three parts: Diffusion, Osmosis in an Elodea
Cell, and finally the Role of Osmosis in Cystic Fibrosis. During Part 1 we looked at diffusion across
a semipermeable membranefor starch and glucose, which resulted in both having a negative
solution when placed in a semipermeable membrane. Then we looked at osmosis in the Elodea
Cell to watch for the occurrence of Plasmolysis, when a cell s plasma membrane pulls away from
the cell, and how a plant cell is affected by both hypertonic and hypotonic solutions. Finally, we
observed the role of Osmosis in Cystic Fibrosis using dialysis bags to represent a normal cell and
a Cystic Fibrosis cell with the normal containing 1% NaCl while the Cystic Fibrosis bag
contained 10% NaCl. After we ran the experiment, we looked at the Percent Change in Mass and
compared them after 30 minutes. We found that Cystic Fibrosis cells didn t change mass as much
as the normal cell ending with a change in mass over 1%. The

Mussolini Fascism Analysis
The popularity of Mussolini s fascism among returning veterans was not only because of the
comradery that Mussolini shared with them, but also the role that veterans played in fascismo.
Welk (1938, 8 9), notes a publication in which, Mussolini campaigned for the right of returned
soldiers to lead Italy towards becoming a great nation and a new world power. In order to
understand how powerful this image was, it is important to understand the Post war Italian
economy. Though Italy had claimed victory in 1918, it came at the cost of the lives of
approximately 600 thousand Italian soldiers, and nearly everyone in Italy outside of war
profiteers exited the war more impoverished. Particularly, the transition from war to peace time
production was a slow and painful process. Thus, while Italy claimed military victory, the post
war economy was not only crippled but also disorganized. This left laborers eager to lend their
ears to a solution, and two powerful but contrasting ideologies to vie for their support. The first to
consider is Communism. A year before, communism had claimed an important victory in the
Russian revolution of 1917. The decisive victory of the Russian proletariat in Welk s (1938, 9 11)
opinion provoked Italian communists to encourage the same in Italy. The following years were
characterized by strikes, and worker s seizing the means of production, as the working class
attempted to seize power throughout the nation. One notable example occurred on April 10, 1919,

  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis On Dave Barry I found Dave Barry s article to be very funny, but true. Throughout this article Dave Barry states his bias opinion on the way he views college. He is basically making fun of the education system. Dave Barry uses his humor in a way of arguing the concept of how we are learning things that we will never use in life. I think this article is similar to the other articles we have read, but uses a different tone to express it. The other articles we have read were based off the education system also. Many of the articles were against the system, just as Dave Barry is. The other articles we read were more persuasive and informative, than an argument. They contained more evidence and facts. Davy Barry did not have facts in his article, but opinions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Application Of Property Theories Of The Beacon Hill II. Application of Property Theories A.Utilitarianism The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population s utility when a property decision is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory, one must define and aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost benefit analysis. A popular measure of utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value to be aggregated in the cost benefit analysis. However, a strict welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because welfarisim is too individualistic and decisions regarding public property and disability access will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced by members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision increases a person s wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision, as some parties, like tourists, do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision. Determining the value that individuals place on the current handicapped ramps and surrounding sidewalks in Beacon Hill, necessitates looking into the different groups of interested individuals affected by the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision. Individuals with disabilities that require accessible handicapped ramps pose a problem for determining the values that these individuals would give the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp and surrounding sidewalks. Beacon Hill serves many different functions for people. For those persons with disabilities who live on Beacon Hill, updated handicapped ramps could mean the difference having access to their homes or having to move. For this group it is easy to determine a value for this analysis, as the price they are willing to pay to live in the area. • 4. Selecting A Form Of Entity For Doing Business Selecting a form of entity for doing business. Tax payers, who are business owners, including the self employed, have choices regarding how to set up their entity for tax purposes. Generally, the following options are available for tax payers: Sole Proprietorship Single Member Limited Liability Company S Corporation C Corporation Sole Proprietorships do not file any documents, including annual reports, with the Secretary of State. Accordingly, they do not have legal or creditor protection. Sole Proprietorships prepare Schedule C as part of their Individual Income Tax returns, with exception to farmers who must file Schedule F. The Schedule C is the most simplistic form for tax filing purposes, when it comes to business. Sole Proprietors may need to file Schedule SE. Generally, self employed business owners can set up fringe benefits (i.e. self employed health insurance deduction and retirement plan) for their business. Self employed health insurance and retirement deductions are reported on page 1 of the individual income tax form as an adjustment to gross income. Discrimination tests have to be met for the self employed health insurance if the sole proprietorship has employees. INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND INNOVATION Submitted By: Muhammad Yousaf Submitted To: Priit Vahter Introduction The trade liberalization can boost productivity by inducing a better allocation of production factors or the adoption of more advanced technologies. The trade integration reallocates market shares towards exporters, the most productive firms, increasing aggregate productivity. The resulting increase in revenues can induce exporters to invest in new technologies. The major advantage of Chinese trade had been lower prices for consumers in the developed world (Bloom et al. (2011)). The further discussion about different searches could be found below. Discussion The major advantage of Chinese trade had been lower prices for consumers in the developed world. The increased Chinese trade has induced faster technical change not only innovation but also adoption of new technologies. Bloom et al. (2011) discover that the absolute volume of innovation (not just per worker productivity or patents) increases within firms and industries more affected by exogenous reductions in barriers to the country s imports. The following three problems were discussed by Bloom et al. (2011). (i) The data from the last decade used to examine the recent role of trade in affecting technical change in developed countries. • 7. Fake Identity, Rumors, And Cyberbullying Before discussing the problems, arising from the inappropriate use of social media networks, it is helpful to understand what social media are. Kaplan and Haenlein (2010,p.210) define social media as a group of Internet based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0(cumulative changes in the way Web pages are made and used) . Social networks, based on social media, allow individual (1) public personal information within a bounded system, (2) find people who share a same connection, (3) view other people s connection (Nicole, 2007). With technology more and more mature, social networks encompass nearly any online activity. However, broad activities and blurred boundaries trigger inappropriate use, leading to many problems. This essay will focus on fake identity, rumors, and cyberbullying. The first problem is about fake identity. Internet identity is a social identity, established by Internet user. Compared with national identity, Internet identity is more unreliable. A new regulatory filing displays, 8.7 percent of its 955 million monthly active users worldwide are actually duplicate or false accounts (Kelly, 2012). Minority people use fake identities based on professional, security or creative reasons, such as identity not suitable to be disclosed, famous by another name than the real one (Eler, 2012). Her older brother, Vijay had been in a terrible car accident, and even though the doctors said he would live, it was going to be a long and painful recovery. Vijay is 16 years old, and like most kids his age had eagerly awaited being old enough to get his driver s license. At the time of the accident, two of Vijay s friends were passengers in his car. The friends admitted that they had been changing the radio station and goofing around while Vijay was driving, and that he may have been distracted when he veered into oncoming traffic. This car accident is proof that driving and minors do not mix. Raising the legal driving age to 18 will save lives. Frederick Douglass When you think of slavery, you may want to consider the effects of an earthquake because that s how powerful it was. Like many earthquakes, slavery produced various damaging ramifications to everything around it. This included devastation to family structures and in worst cases the loss of human life; and without doubt slavery claimed the lives of many just as Harriet Jacobs expressed I once saw a slave girl dying after the birth of a child nearly white. Richard Wright convinces his audience in Black Boy that he was tired of the limitations and outcries in the South I was not leaving the South to forget the South, but so that some day I might understand it, might come to know what its rigors had done to me, its children (284). Frederic Jameson points out that Chandler uses the plot device of Marlowe waiting in his office as a monadic window from which something of the deeper truth of Los Angeles is able to be disclosed (3). Los Angeles is about to be seen through a perceptual window, the consciousness of Marlowe, whose sensitivity indicates the nature of the world around him. Marlowe s retreat into his shabby office also contains symbolic significance:he takes shelter from the chaotic society outside. However, his office is also loaded with the endemic nothingness. He discloses a profound truth about American life around the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Summary Of Self Respect By Didion Weekly Critique 2 Summary of the reading Self Respect by Didion is an essay that compares a lot of things about self respect to our lives. In the beginning of the Self Respect essay, the author talks about the situation she experienced when she was nineteen years old which had to do with the failure to be pledged to a college honor society. She did not have the grades to qualify her to be pledged into the honor society, which made her come to a realization that we are not handed out things in life rather, we have to earn them no winning smiles will do over here, no pretty drawn lines of good intentions (Didion 2). She also realized that we are not judged in this life based on who we are but on what we have done to earn them and that made her feel a loss of innocence the day I did not make Phi Beth Kappa nonetheless marked the end of something and innocence may well be the word for it (Didion 2) hence making her understand that all situations have a consequence. This essay compares people with no self respect to children sleeping in the bed they made for themselves showing us that children who did not make well supported beds did not sleep well at night. This shows us that people without self respect lacked the very foundation to teach them about it the measure of slipping prestige is that one tends to think only of homely children (Didion 4). She also lets us understand that the things we do to earn respect as children is not the same we do as adults. The things she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Extent Of Personal Responsibility The Extent of Personal Responsibility Taking place in two hemispheres from one another, the plot to Khaled Hosseini s Kite Runner and Phillip Roth s Nemesis have few common elements to observe if one were to look strictly at the plot. However, looking deeper reveals that both novels have startlingly similar elements and themes; ranging from fear, to a rejection of god. The most significant theme in both of these novels is the concept of personal responsibility a concept that defines Amir and Bucky and drives the way they act, in addition to influencing the plot of each novel. Starting with protagonist Amir in Kite Runner, the pivotal point of responsibility is first introduced when Hassan is raped by Assef following the conclusion of the kite runner tournament that Amir won. This moment is the single most significant moment in the entire novel: I stopped watching, turned away from the alley (67). This quote establishes the theme of personal responsibility, and this very event would go on to define Amir throughout the entirety of the novel, as Amir would go on to decades later to state: We had both betrayed the people who would have given their lives for us (197). Another point is established with this, that being the question of how far claiming responsibility go before being considered unreasonable? Looking at this particular scene, one has to wonder, what could have Amir have been able to do in this situation? While fleeing the scene is debated as a lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although Harold probably doesn t want to become like his father, or think like him, he will grow up to be just like his father. When Harold gets involved into arguments, only then does his fathers instincts kick in. Although Harolds father is never in the play, we can learn a lot about him just by Harold and a single phone call. Because of this Harold may want to feel like he?s somehow in control of something, and that?s why he treats Willie and Sam the way he does. I think Harold loves Willie and Sam, like Harolds father loves his wife, but because Harolds father is in control, Harold wants to feel somehow in control too. Harold is prejudice against black people. Though he may not know it, or might not want to admit it, Harold is racist. This is also another way Harold argues with Willie and Sam. He argues that because Sam is black he doesn?t know as much as Harold or can?t learn anything to complex. He also argues that he is far too civilized and well mannered to be hanging out with black people who are nothing more than servants. Then again this just might be another excuse for Harold to win an argument. For instance, Harold deliberately told Sam what he thought was a funny racist joke just to hurt Sams feelings. Now this is a joke that Harold shared with his father, and this is how they spend their time together, making prejudice jokes about black people. Harold became racist because of his father. At the bottom of Lake Ontario, highly dense cold water can be found. During winter, the water in Lake Ontario drops to cool temperatures, and this surface water sinks to bottom of the lake when winter passes. Not everyone is required to have the same views on a particular topic or subject in order to be a good rhetorician. I believe that Anne Boleyn is a prime example of someone who has a wide set of views about herself. Throughout this course we have been given different texts and films about Anne Boleyn, and they have all shown Anne from a different perspective. These different outlooks of Anne allow readers to form their own opinions and decide for themselves who Anne Boleyn really was. We ve been able to see her character portrayed in the documentary Henry and Anne: The Lovers Who Changed History, the book The Creation of Anne Boleyn, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This young audience would then be exposed to a positive version of Anne, which would in turn influence how they would see her. I believe this novel greatly impacted what would go into my interpretation of Anne Boleyn, because I do see Anne in a respectful way. In my opinion this book is a great example of rhetoric. As defined before rhetoric can be a piece of writing that is used to persuade someone to think a certain way. Since the book is fiction, most would probably assume that it is just for entertainment. However, if you step back and look at the big picture, you can definitely see a hint of persuasion in it. I feel that Dunn was able to influence her readers to think of Anne the way she does, and sways them to look at Anne in a not so typical way. This novel also shows great support for feminism. Feminism is a belief to advocate women s rights and interests. Both of the main female characters, Anne and Kate, show an immense amount of strong traits and interests. They are both mature, honest women who stand up for what they believe is right. It is, thus, free trade becomes more necessary and desirable due to the division of labor where free trade promotes the increase in productivity and economic efficiency. Furthermore, free trade is desirable due to the primary of the consumer. Shimko portrays the primary of the consumer through the idea that the consumers should be able to buy what they need with the lowest price, regardless of where the products are produced. Shimko emphasizes that everyone is a consumer where free trade is desirable because it makes products cheaper for the individual consumers, but also benefits the community as a whole. According to Shimko, free trade benefits both the individual consumes and the community where it leaves the consumers more money to buy other things which directly helps to increase economic efficiency within the community/nation (Shimko, 138). • 41. Difference Between The House And The Senate There are many differences between the House of Representatives and the Senate. For one the House of Representatives is bigger than the Senate. There is not a lot of media coverage in the House as it is in the Senate, members in the Senate are elected every six years as for the House are elected every two years. The House has a reputation of being much more contentious and impulsive when it comes to legislation (enotes.com). When it comes to electing a House Rep its by district, so winning that seat is a lot easier than the Senate, for simple fact you are going for a congressional district vote, and not a state wide vote. Another important difference is that money related or monetary bills must be made in the House. It is like this because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Black And Decker Ergo Electric Can Opener Analysis You are hosting a party and you want people to stay out of the kitchen and enjoy themselves. But for some reason everyone always ends up in the kitchen. The kitchen is where you and your friends sit and chat over a hot cuppa, having that International Coffee moment. Your children do their homework at the kitchentable. With their friends they raid the refrigerator. The kitchen is truly the heart of the home. Feng shui places great importance on the kitchen. Placing the stove in the proper location to benefit the cook and thereby the whole family is fundamental. It is also necessary to have the correct relationship between the stove and water in the kitchen. What you see upon entering the kitchen and while you are working there is also significant.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have been lured in by so many that just won t worth the money. They look appealing as they always work exactly as they should on television. There are, however, some kitchen gadgets that I heavily rely on and will always have in my kitchen. Here are my top 5 kitchen gadgets. Number five on my list is the Black and Decker Ergo electric can opener. This can opener is very nice. When our old electric can opener finally went out after ten years of service, my husband picked up this one. It s cordless and rechargeable. To use, just clamp it onto a can, press the handle and let go. There is no need to hold it as it travels by itself around the can, stopping once the lid has been completely cut. Cleanup is easy as the cutting mechanism easily pops off the unit. It comes with a charging base. This is great for my kitchen that has very little counter space and limited electrical outlets. Rival Hand Mixer is number four on my list of top kitchen gadgets. The mixer comes with own cup that has a spout for easy pouring. I use this every morning to fluff up the eggs before cooking. The hand mixer has a low and high speed. Cleanup is a breeze and doesn t take up that much space to store. The only thing that would make this hand mixer better is if it were cordless. Black and Decker Handy Chopper Plus is number three. This small, electric chopper makes chopping anything a breeze. I have chopped everything from onions or Oreo cookies, and it does a great job on everything. The chopper is small so it takes up little counter and cabinet space. The parts are easily cleaned, and you can store them on the base so when you are ready to use again all the parts are there. It is easy to operate. Put the bowl on the base, place the blade in it put in your items to chop and secure the lid. Then press the button for about 15 30 seconds should do the trick. Number two on my list is different sized funnels. Funnels are extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Paradigm shift was something I learnt the first time when my anthropology professor used it, and then three days later I heard my chemistry teacher use it to explain the development in chemistry; specifically, about how famous German chemists would build off of each other s ideas and cause paradigm shifts in the world of science. • 48. Lab Report On Osmosis The Osmosis and Diffusion lab was conducted to provide us with information on how built up mucus affects those conflicted by the recessive genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis., due to a mutation to the membrane regulating chloride (Cl ). This mutation prevents the Cl from leaving the cell causing the amount of sodium (Na+) in epithelial cells, which results in extreme mucus on the lungs and airways causing this disease to be fatal if not treated but treatment does not equate to a long lifetime. During the lab we took the data from three parts: Diffusion, Osmosis in an Elodea Cell, and finally the Role of Osmosis in Cystic Fibrosis. During Part 1 we looked at diffusion across a semipermeable membranefor starch and glucose, which resulted in both having a negative solution when placed in a semipermeable membrane. Then we looked at osmosis in the Elodea Cell to watch for the occurrence of Plasmolysis, when a cell s plasma membrane pulls away from the cell, and how a plant cell is affected by both hypertonic and hypotonic solutions. Finally, we observed the role of Osmosis in Cystic Fibrosis using dialysis bags to represent a normal cell and a Cystic Fibrosis cell with the normal containing 1% NaCl while the Cystic Fibrosis bag contained 10% NaCl. After we ran the experiment, we looked at the Percent Change in Mass and compared them after 30 minutes. We found that Cystic Fibrosis cells didn t change mass as much as the normal cell ending with a change in mass over 1%. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Mussolini Fascism Analysis The popularity of Mussolini s fascism among returning veterans was not only because of the comradery that Mussolini shared with them, but also the role that veterans played in fascismo. Welk (1938, 8 9), notes a publication in which, Mussolini campaigned for the right of returned soldiers to lead Italy towards becoming a great nation and a new world power. In order to understand how powerful this image was, it is important to understand the Post war Italian economy. Though Italy had claimed victory in 1918, it came at the cost of the lives of approximately 600 thousand Italian soldiers, and nearly everyone in Italy outside of war profiteers exited the war more impoverished. Particularly, the transition from war to peace time production was a slow and painful process. Thus, while Italy claimed military victory, the post war economy was not only crippled but also disorganized. This left laborers eager to lend their ears to a solution, and two powerful but contrasting ideologies to vie for their support. The first to consider is Communism. A year before, communism had claimed an important victory in the Russian revolution of 1917. The decisive victory of the Russian proletariat in Welk s (1938, 9 11) opinion provoked Italian communists to encourage the same in Italy. The following years were characterized by strikes, and worker s seizing the means of production, as the working class attempted to seize power throughout the nation. One notable example occurred on April 10, 1919, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
