WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM
YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
At the start of my project I had to find out who my audience were. I found this
out by creating a survey. (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LJQM7ST)
From the answers from the survey I found:
• Everyone who answered my questionnaire was 16-25 years old and the
majority were female, but there were some males, they are mostly into
indie/indie-rock music. They watch music videos mostly a couple times a week
and normally watch these on TV or Youtube.
• The typical features they expect to see in a indie/indie-rock music video are
people playing instruments such as guitars, indie clothing such as skinny jeans
and slightly unusually placed things.
• Story lines, things that relate to the song and colour are what appeal to them
mostly in a music video.
• There is a 50/50 result to whether they prefer music videos with a narrative or
showing the band and more than once location is preferred within a music
video.
AUDIENCE
From my feedback from this questionnaire, I developed a lot within my final
outcomes. For example, I used an indie/indie-rock genre, indie clothing, more
than one location and my music video had a narrative. This proves that I have
used my audience feedback well.
MOCKUPS
For my magazine mock-ups I had audience feedback to help with my ideas on
what layout to use. My feedback helped me choose which layout to use, as well as
telling me what was wrong with the others (they weren’t bold enough). Although I
have kind of followed the layout of the chosen advert, I have listened to the
feedback (to make the font stand out more and use a suitable image. I used bold
font which stood out and the image I used was the album cover. Once I had done
a draft of my advert, I changed what image I was using as my feedback told me
that the image wasn’t clear and using the album cover helps the audience identify
the album when the viewer are looking to buy it. My feedback also told me to add
the record label and a website so the audience can gain more information.

MAGAZINE ADVERT
For my digipak i had audience feedback to help me choose the layout of it. My
feedback chose the layout that I used mainly due to the image across the
inside, they thought that it was a good idea. They also said the layout was
simple, yet creative. They told me that the other digipaks weren’t as visually
interesting. When creating my digipak I got feedback to find out what images
looked best. They helped me choose the best ones that linked better together.
I also had feedback about my font too. The band name has been moved from
the bottom to the top so it stands out more and catches peoples eyes straight
away. I am happy with my final outcome and my feedback helped me a lot to
create it and make it better.

DIGIPAK
I received feedback within my planning for my music video. I crated a pitch which
explained my ideas for the location, song, and clothing. My feedback told me that I had
good ideas and am relating the lyrics to the video well. The use of similar clothing to
the lead singer of Arctic Monkeys was a good idea so the audience can relate it back to
the band. They told me that it may be hard to get to a house to film so I could film
around the streets instead, therefore I changed some of my video due to not having a
lot of access to a house. This feedback caused me less stress as I was worried I
wouldn’t be able to get to a house and didn’t know what to do instead.
I put my video on Facebook and the feedback I received was good (as you can see
below)

  • 1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
  • 2. At the start of my project I had to find out who my audience were. I found this out by creating a survey. (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LJQM7ST) From the answers from the survey I found: • Everyone who answered my questionnaire was 16-25 years old and the majority were female, but there were some males, they are mostly into indie/indie-rock music. They watch music videos mostly a couple times a week and normally watch these on TV or Youtube. • The typical features they expect to see in a indie/indie-rock music video are people playing instruments such as guitars, indie clothing such as skinny jeans and slightly unusually placed things. • Story lines, things that relate to the song and colour are what appeal to them mostly in a music video. • There is a 50/50 result to whether they prefer music videos with a narrative or showing the band and more than once location is preferred within a music video.   • 3. From my feedback from this questionnaire, I developed a lot within my final outcomes. For example, I used an indie/indie-rock genre, indie clothing, more than one location and my music video had a narrative. This proves that I have used my audience feedback well.
  • 4. MOCKUPS For my magazine mock-ups I had audience feedback to help with my ideas on what layout to use. My feedback helped me choose which layout to use, as well as telling me what was wrong with the others (they weren’t bold enough). Although I have kind of followed the layout of the chosen advert, I have listened to the feedback (to make the font stand out more and use a suitable image. I used bold font which stood out and the image I used was the album cover. Once I had done a draft of my advert, I changed what image I was using as my feedback told me that the image wasn’t clear and using the album cover helps the audience identify the album when the viewer are looking to buy it. My feedback also told me to add the record label and a website so the audience can gain more information.   • 5. For my digipak i had audience feedback to help me choose the layout of it. My feedback chose the layout that I used mainly due to the image across the inside, they thought that it was a good idea. They also said the layout was simple, yet creative. They told me that the other digipaks weren’t as visually interesting. When creating my digipak I got feedback to find out what images looked best. They helped me choose the best ones that linked better together. I also had feedback about my font too. The band name has been moved from the bottom to the top so it stands out more and catches peoples eyes straight away. I am happy with my final outcome and my feedback helped me a lot to create it and make it better.   • 6. I received feedback within my planning for my music video. I crated a pitch which explained my ideas for the location, song, and clothing. My feedback told me that I had good ideas and am relating the lyrics to the video well. The use of similar clothing to the lead singer of Arctic Monkeys was a good idea so the audience can relate it back to the band. They told me that it may be hard to get to a house to film so I could film around the streets instead, therefore I changed some of my video due to not having a lot of access to a house. This feedback caused me less stress as I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get to a house and didn’t know what to do instead. I put my video on Facebook and the feedback I received was good (as you can see below) MUSIC VIDEO
