The document summarizes feedback received from test audiences on a music video created by the author and their group. Key points from the feedback included:
1) Audiences generally liked the storyline but had mixed views on some of the effects used.
2) The author learned that their target audience of R&B fans did not always appreciate special effects, so some effects could have been removed.
3) Lip syncing in some scenes needed to be tighter.
The author indicates they received useful feedback that will help strengthen effects usage and lip syncing in future projects.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2. • "Good storyline, strange effects"
• "Odd effects, weird scenes"
• "Good storyline, strange effects"
• "Good video overall, however I do not see the use of
the ripple effect"
• "Text worded well on the screen"
First of all my group an I showed our video to a
member of our sixth form to see what they
thought about it. This is the feedback we took
from it. We figured out that That he clearly liked
the narrative storyline we incorporated and some
of the effects that I had used in the video such as
the text’s that showed up on the screen . However
he wasn’t fond of some of the effects that were in
use. From this I was able to see that R&B fans
weren't mad about Special effects and this was
evident in the focus group that we created later
on.

Below is the hyperlink to the focus group that my group and did. We
decided to conduct another focus group to see how our target audience
viewed our music video and see what they liked and disliked about or
video.
4. What do you feel needs improvement?
From looking back at our audience comment's it was obvious that the
main things we needed to improve on was on our special effects .They
didn't’ like the use of special effects and different dimensions that
were used. Even though our target audience said that they liked
special effects , I believe that it could have been something we could
have taken or left out of our final music video. I have also learned
from our target audience that even though the lip syncing looked
good, it still wasn’t as tight in certain places. We could definitely
improve on this but cutting the frames at a millisecond each time to
get perfect and accurate lip syncing which would have matched the
song perfectly.
5. What did you like about the video and why?
It was obvious that each audience member had different sets of likes which
ranged from the different colours, Background music and some of the effects.
They also appreciated the different transitions that were used in the video . I
learnt that this meant we had incorporated all the things that our target audience
focus group had said that they liked and that we had done well
6. What were your favourite parts and why?
Our focus group thought there were many parts that they liked and
enjoyed. One of the main and positive things that came up was the
fact the actors in the video were all teenagers. This made them feel as
though it was a song that reached out to them and something that
they understood. This was great as it showed me that the video had
done what I had wanted it to do – to connect well with the youth ( my
target audience)
7. What image do you think we have given to the
artist?
Well from our audience feedback, i realized that we had incorporated
the themes of our artist (Chris Brown and Rihanna) really well, as they
understood exactly what was going on and what the storyline was
about. From this I also realized that it directed allot to Stuart Hall’s
theory ‘The negotiated reading’. This theory is when The reader partly
believes the code and broadly accepts the preferred reading, but
sometimes modifies it in a way which reflects their own position,
experiences and interest‘. Reason’s I believe that this linked to our
audience feedback is because although our audience said that they
liked some aspects of our music video, they didn't hold back when
advising us on what they think we could improve on.
8. Would you buy this album and why?
Although the video could do with some improvements , The audience
stated that they would our music video!!! This feedback taught me
that we had succeeded in creating all the conventions that the initial
target audience wanted .
