Exploring Identity In The Harlem Renaissance
Exploring Identity in the Harlem Renaissance During the 1920s, black literature and culture
exploded in a movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, which at its forefront directly
challenged white stereotypes that defined black perception in society. Thus, one major focus during
this movement was to recreate and define a new identity for black Americans through the lens of
art. Two poets attempted such a feat and, in their works, argued for an identity centered on the
authentic roots and customs of African American culture. As evidenced by I, too, Theme for
English B, and The Melting Pot, Hughes and Randall assert that black racial identity should not be
sequestered, but instead should be embraced in society. Langston Hughes, in I, too ... Show more

For example, in I, too, (Appendix A) the speaker refers to himself as the darker brother, seeking
equal rights and demanding change from his white peers (Hughes 2). Hughes emphasizes that
his identity is shaped by being the racially darker one, and also notes that he is connected to his
white brethren, despite variations in race. After company arrives, the speaker is sent to the
kitchen: And I laugh / And eat well / And grow strong (Hughes 5 7). Often, as a social norm,
when guests are invited over to the household, there is a tendency for hosts to put their best foot
forward; in the 1920s, this translated into pure whiteness and no blacks. Ironically, though, as the
speaker is cast out society, his identity as an black male grows, and this culminates to the speaker
s demand to be identified as an American citizen, too singing America (Hughes 1). As summed up
by the Poetry Foundation, Hughes s tragedy was double edged: he was unashamedly black at a
time when blackness was demode, and he didn t go much beyond one of

To What Extent Is Hamlet A Tragic Hero
A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgement error that leads to his/her own
destruction. Also they come from high status and things that are good for them and a literary
character who makes an error of judgment or has a fatal flaw that, combined with fate and external
forces, brings on a tragedy Hamletbest trait is his downfall, his actions and tragic flaw is not his
fault which makes him even more of a tragic hero. He does not survive to see the full outcome of
his actions because his tragic flaw. His flaw is his indecision and hesitation which causes his
downfall and downfall of others. In the Shakespearean play Hamlet, Hamlet is a tragic hero as his
flaw of indecision leads to destruction.
Hamlet represents a tragic hero because he is in a high status position and his nobility which he has

One flaw that we connect with Hamlet is his indecision. Hamlet refused to kill claudius when he
was praying because he was scared that he would be sent to heaven and that it will not avenge
his father the right away. This shows his inability to make a decision quickly because he was too
intellectual and religious. Another one is not committing suicide because of our radical belief of
religion. Hamlet was thinking this, O, that this too too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and
resolve itself into a dea, or that the Everlasting had not fixed his canon gainst self slaughter!
(Shakespeare 1.2.129). He is suicidal but self slaughter is a sin in his eyes, which he can not
commit. Another flaw that connects with Hamlet is not knowing whether people are good or bad.
Hamlet judges the ghost, Be thou a spirit of health or goblin damned (Shakespeare 1.4.44). He
doesn t know if the ghost is a good spirit or a cursed demon. Hamlet indecision flaw makes him a
tragic hero which the audience connects and relate

Lucy Street Movie Comparison
Miracle on 34th Street (1955 and 1994)
In these movies there are some things that are different and some things alike. In both movies,
the love of the holidays and the want to believe in something most people think are untrue, will
be up to a man who calls himself Kris Kringle (Santa Clause). Kris Kringle is greeted by a newly
single mother with a young daughter Susan who happens to be nonbelievers. Also in the movies
we notice that the mother s love interest is a skilled lawyer who will represent Kris Kringle in
court as he pleads his case for being the real Santa Clause. Although both characters are lawyers
their names are different. In the 1955 Miracle on 34th Street the Lawyer s name is Fred Gaily; but

Potential Benefits Of Social Media
Potential Benefits of Social Media Mentioning the phrase social media brings to mind the elephant
in the room known as Facebook. Those opposed to entering this world tend to single out the
negative aspects of it and use them as excuses not to join. Merriam Webster interprets social media
as forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share
information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos) ( social media ). Nowhere in
that definition does it suggest that only one platform exists. That being said, a great deal of good
can, and does, emerge from a multitude of such forums. Human interactions are increasingly
occurring in virtual settings; non participants stubbornly fight the inevitable as its versatility and
convenience are too tough to resist. Although traditional school settings are still effective means of
education, knowledge is certainly not restricted to the four walls of a classroom. Learning
institutions, and parents alike, can barely afford to hire qualified tutors. Khan Academy, whose
mission is to provide a free, world class education for anyone, anywhere ( mission statement ), aims
to remedy said complications. Basic tasks, such as ordering meals and asking directions, in a
foreign country quickly become challenging without some type of fundamental capacity for the
regional tongue. Visiting travelers are, undoubtedly, more well received by local residents when
efforts are made to communicate

Emotional Intelligence Papers
Emotional Intelligence
In this paper, I will thoroughly describe how an EI level can enhance or hamper being an effective
leader. I will also explain in detail five of the core themes, gratitude, compassion, empathy,
forgiveness, and mindfulness. Emotional Intelligence and understanding the core themes is
beneficial in everyday life. As leaders, it is essential and will assist in providing a positive work
environment.
Emotional Intelligence in Leadership
Having Emotional Intelligence (EI) in leadership is important. A leader who is emotionally aware
and is accomplished in emotional intelligence can result in an improved team performance. An EI
leader can pick up on various emotions that can help them steer their staff in a better direction.
According to our class readings, the Mayer and Salovey theory created the term Emotional
Intelligence. They described EI as one s ability to read the emotions of others. They described EI
into four different parts; perceiving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being mindful of our surroundings is essential. We must accept how we feel and be mindful at
that moment. Being mindful as a leader helps you recognize when someone is in need. As a nurse,
it is important to be mindful of your patient s needs which will help improve the overall quality of
care.
Conclusion
This paper has described how having an adequate EI can enhance someone in leadership. It has
also described how having a low EI can hamper someone in a leadership role. I have also discussed
five of the core themes, gratitude, compassion, empathy, forgiveness, and mindfulness. This paper
has shown the importance of having these qualities and using them daily in our relationships.
Whether you re a bedside nurse or a leader of a large institution, having a high level of emotional

Advertising would be very minimal since your customer will be notified of the collision center
when they have an accident or when you have potential new clients to inform them on how
serious your company is about the quality of repairs that you have your own body shop to do the
repairs. The advantage of keeping everything in house would be cost effective because the
money is not switching hands instead it is paying for a service to repair the customer s vehicle.
There would not be any ideas on how to scam the insurance company on ways to make the total
claim amount higher so in turn the body shop makes more money for more unnecessary
unethical repairs. In recent years due to the recession, a lot of local businesses were forced to
close down due to lack of consumer spending. As of the year 2013 car sales has hit 15.6 million
in sales up about eight percent from the year 2012. The increase in car sales means to increase in
the insurance business in regards to premiums and that means higher employment rates therefor
increase in chances of accidents which leads to increase in collision repairs and claims. As
reported by Susanna Gotsch (2014) According to data from the Automotive Aftermarket Industry
Association, the number of U.S. shops specializing in collision repair in the U.S. has declined

Analyzing The Validity Of The Holy Bible
I would like to welcome you to the readable journey that can change a life forever. This is a
journey through the Holy Bible, of course with some negative and positive sides along the way. In
a quest for accuracy, validity, and truth; the Holy Bible is the most sought after book for answers
and attack, yet it continues to stand firm through it all. The Holy Bibleis the world s best selling
book and will continue to be for decades to come and there is reasoning behind this awesome fact.
Validity is searched for after skeptics read the Bible, they ask questions upon questions wanting so
badly to disprove the accuracy of the Bible. Our omniscient Godknew that His Words would be
challenged and not believed to be true by doubters continuously, so God left life changing hints
proving his word true, whether they have been discovered or undiscovered yet. God laid it down
plain and simple that the Bible is true His divine words written by His anointed authors.

One of the greatest debates over the past decade has been whether the US s effort to overthrow a

light on what the relations were between the United States and Iraq for over half a century and
what factors led to such a disastrous invasion which left over half a million people dead and
countless more injured. What justifications did politicians such as Vice President Dick Cheney and

provided training camps and other support to terrorist groups fighting the government of Turkey

more urgent with Saddam s suspected determination to develop weapons of mass destruction

The Importance Of Urban Planning On The City Of Vancouver
Vancouver: The Greenest City
Urban planning has been relied on in order to keep the city as clean and efficient as possible,
with the concept of eco density. This refers to building vertically, as in skyscrapers, as opposed to
urban sprawl. The City of Vancouver has the goal of building energy efficient buildings, so that,
along with retrofits, all buildings in the city are carbon neutral by 2030. They have the goal of

I attended the panel of student entrepreneurs from Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. We had the

heard from a girl who had come up with equipment so that people who were sick could check
their vitals at home, instead of having to go to the doctors. The patient would then plug the
information into an app on their phones and it would be set to their doctors and nurses. There
was a girl who had created a solar heating device that turns aluminum and other materials into hot
air, which can be used to help the homeless population, lower heating bills as well as help the
environment. We heard from a student who started a tech app and a mother student who had his
own DJ business called Andries Entertainments. There was also a student who started her own
photograph business as well as a few non profit businesses. All of these students had great advice
about how to start a company, how to keep it going, how to enjoy what you are doing. All of
these students had one thing in common when it came to there business. They all found that there
was a need for their product or service and they had a and passion for it. Some of the students had

Role Of Lethal Lipotoxic Hepatocyte Injury
Lethal Lipotoxic Hepatocyte Injury
Accumulation of lipid intermediates in hepatocytes causes hepatocellular lipotoxicity, leading to
cellular stress, dysfunction and eventually cell death. Lipotoxicity induced hepatocyte cell death
appears to be mainly mediated by the apoptotic machinery activated by death receptors and
endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.5 6 Other cell death modes, such as necroptosis and pyroptosis,
have also been reviewed recently.6 7 However, the contribution of necroptosis in lipid induced
hepatocyte death during NASH needs further definition.6 8 Albeit growing evidence supports a role
for the inflammasome in NASH development, the contribution of hepatocyte pyroptosis to
hepatocellular injury and death also needs to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ballooned hepatocytes are not only a hallmark of NASH but also, they have been implicated in the
disease pathogenesis. Ballooned hepatocytes generate sonic hedgehog (Shh), a ligand of the
developmental hedgehog signaling cascade, which promotes liver fibrogenesis.11 12 Later,
ballooned hepatocytes were proposed to represent undead cells .13 Ballooned hepatocytes bear
some analogy to Drosophila melanogaster stressed cells which exist in a state of initiated cell death
program that cannot be executed ( undead ) and secrete various factors, including Shh, to promote
tissue repair and healing.14 Models of undead ballooned hepatocytes using lipotoxic treatment in
hepatocytes lacking caspase 9, a protease critical for the execution of the apoptotic pathway, are
characterized by activation of c Jun N terminal kinase (JNK), which led to an upregulation of Shh in
the absence of cell death. In these cells, lipotoxicity induced hepatocyte derived Shh functioned as
an autocrine survival factor. These observations imply that inhibition of hedgehog signaling may
prevent the development of ballooned hepatocytes, a hypothesis yet to be tested.
ER stress has also been shown to promote expression and secretion of Shh by hepatocytes.12 Shh
may then promote fibrogenesis by activating hepatic stellate cells, the major target cells of hepatic
Shh signaling. Hepatocytes are also an important hedgehog responsive cell type during lipotoxicity.
First, hepatocytes express different

a landscape in the Amo valley. He later started his own work shop. Using his inventive skills, da

The Stroop s Stroop Experiment
Introduction
In 1935, John Ridley Stroop further researched and printed the whole idea of the Stroop effect
which is also named after himself. The main purpose of the stroop experiment is to time how fast
the participants are to respond to different coloured stimuli presented to them in different
conditions. This measures the cognitive ability of the individuals involved as it tests the memory
and focus.
The work of John Ridley Stroop was originally a study that came from James McKeen Cattell
(1991), his study was focused on how reading words takes less time than naming coloured objects
which draws similarities to the stroop experiment.
The main problem of the stroop experiment arises from colour naming and word reading due to the

The Narrator In Julius Long s The Pale Man
Within the course of life, it is normal for everyone to feel unappreciated and unhappy at times.
How long these feelings last and how extreme they are, all depends on the person. In Julius Long s
The Pale Man, these feelings develop within the narrator for so long and strenuously that they
eventually evolve into a serious nervous problem. The narrator in The Pale Man transparently
portrays his emotions regarding his career as a professor s assistant by being bitter and broken.

Normally, most people are able to find their way back. However, not in all cases. In the story,
The Pale Man, the narrator s inability to distinguish an identity helps to generate a multiple
personality disorder. In this story, the narrator is not completely aware of what is actually going
on in the hotel. Until the very end of the story, the narrator believes that the pale man is a very
real man who simply has peculiar acts. However, at the end of the story the narrator states, I
suppose I should have guessed his identity when he skipped the three rooms the night I fell
unconscious upon the floor. In a single night of triumph he advanced until he was almost to my
door (4). This statement proves that up until this point, he was suffering from identity loss. Then
finally, the narrator realizes who the pale man is and recognizes that his second personality
wants to overcome his original personality. This realization causes the narrator to willingly invite
his second personality in, because he states, He will be coming by and by to inhabit this room,
his ultimate goal. When he comes, I shall at least be able to return his smile of grim recognition.
Meanwhile, I have only to wait beyond my bolted door This statement proves that the narrator is

The Bells By Edgar Allan Poe
The main idea of The Bells written by Edgar Allan Poe is connecting the different rings bells
have with the moods they give off. The Bells actually has several themes, happiness, celebration,
terror, and a mix of them all. The first stanza talks about the joy of bells, the second talks about the
celebration of wedding bells, the third is about alarming bells, and the fourths is about the different
stages of bells combined. The mood of the poem quickly changes from cheerful and lighthearted to
horrifying and deep. First off, each stanzastarts with an opening statement and then with either the
words Silver, Golden, Brazen, or Iron Bells. Silver is something precious whereas iron can be
represented as something worthy of mocking or unpleasant.

Piety or irreverence? Traditional or conservative? Moderation or indulgence? These are the issues
contended by Just and Unjust Speech in Aristophones Clouds. Throughout their argument Just
Speech uses countless examples and what he understands to be the truth in order to back his claims
while Unjust Speech tears it apart using clever contradictions and turning Just Speech s words
against him. The topics of this debate discipline, piety, tradition are ones that transcend the ages and
that are very much relevant still today. Moderation yields many benefits including strength and a
good reputation; however, indulgence is easier and what makes life worth living if not the
pleasures we allow ourselves. Law, justice, piety, and tradition; those are the issues that are disputed

During the argument between Just and Unjust Speech, Just Speech explains that one of the
virtues he will teach him is respect; respect for one s elders and respect for one s father (ln. 993
995). The closest Unjust Speech comes to discussing the relationship between father and son is
when he gives the example of Zeus overthrowing his father (ln. 904). When Pheidippides begins
to beat his father, he also explains why his actions are just and lawful, turning the words of his
father against him to strengthen his argument. This argument goes on for awhile with
Pheidippides using the weaker speech to gain the upper hand on his father, this is similar to how
Unjust Speech beats Just Speech in their argument earlier in the book. After a long debate
Pheidippides finally forces his father into a corner and makes him admit that he is wrong,
Strepsiades gives in seeing no alternative; this is a direct callback to how Just Speech threw his
cloak to the audience angered by his defeat. The old, traditional, ways are lost to the new ways
and with these new ways we are losing our moral

Belonging In The Outsiders
The theme of belonging is developed in the texts The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, The blindside by
John Lee Hancock, On the sidewalk bleeding by Evan Hunter and The last spin by Evan Hunter.
Our life experiences teach us that when we stop trying to belong, we realize that we have
always belonged, we have always belonged because of the actions we take but once we stop
trying to fit in with the world and stepped off the bubble of belonging we can see that we ve
always belonged. In the short story, on the sidewalk bleeding by Evan Hunter, The character used
to show the theme of belonging was Andy. Andy belonged to one of the top gangs referred to the

Blue Zone Research Paper
Not only is it important to have healthy friends and family, but it s important to keep in touch
with them. Blue zones are areas around the world where it isn t uncommon for people to live
past 100. These areas include Sardinia, Italy; Ikaria, Greece; Okinawa, Japan; Nicoya, Costa
Rica; and Loma Linda, California. Researchers around the world have found similarities between
the blue zones with the biggest similarities being diet and socialization. Almost all centenarians
(people who live over 100) have set family as their biggest priorities. Family members talk to each
other almost every day, take care of one another, and generally love each other. Nursing homes do

In the future, doctors will be able to expand on this with the growing field of proteomics.
Proteomics is the study of all the proteins that can be found in a cell and, therefore, an organism.
Amino acids are the chemical units of proteins and are considered to be the building blocks of life.
They are important in almost every function a cell does within itself and the entire organism. Blood
circulates through our entire bodies which means the proteins in our blood have reflected
everything that is happening in the human body. This means an infection in a person s foot, can be
seen through the proteins in blood drawn from the arm. The potential power of proteomics is
mind blowing. With proteomics, doctors can find any disease, disorder, or any other problem just
by examining a single drop of blood. Instead of running dozens of different tests to find out what is
wrong with someone, all a doctor has to do is draw the patient s blood, send it to the lab, and wait
for the results (Agus 110 112). This will save a lot of time and money for the patient as well as
helping him/her improve her medical condition. Hopefully, in the years to come, scientists and
doctors can finally combine the fields of proteomics and medicine for the benefit of billions of
people around the

Government Control In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
Over the years, we have been enjoying the benefits of technology that it brings with it. But have we
ever thought how the same technology can be threatening if fallen in bad hands. One way this is
possible is by having government control over science. ¬¬The government can use technology
to monitor our activities and personal life. A simple democratic governmentcan become an extreme
and abstract socialist by just using technologyand making laws that we might find helpful, but
indeed control us. В¬The Matrix, Brave New World, and The Village, do a good job of
prophesizing the impacts of government control of technology on the society. The control of
population can be the most impacted by government. Huxley in his book Brave New World
predict this behavior by including the concept of test tube babies produced at the Central London
Hatchery. In chapters 1 and 2, we get to know that every person is decanted from the hatchery by
scientific processes. There is no form of natural birth, and in fact, it s illegal. The number and kind
of humans produced is controlled by the government who gives the hatchery orders based on the
requirements. This is evident when the DHC speaks the predestinators send in figure from the
fertilizers and they are given the embryos they ask for (10). This means that you will... Show more

Essay On Primates
This observational research lab seeks to explore and analyze the differences between primates, both
gorillas and monkeys as well as the shared traits with humans in terms of observed behaviors. More
importantly, emphasis will be made on the contributing differences between primates in relation to
humans. Additionally, the effects of captivity will be studied through its influence of behavior of
both primates. In studying of our closest living relatives, the Primates, I observed the Western

This allows the squirrel monkey to navigate the tree branches that support its light weight. As it
lives in the canopy, it must use its tail for balancing. Gorillas spend most of their time on the
ground and thus have no use for a tail. Additionally, squirrel monkeys use walk quadrupeally on
their palms, while the gorilla uses its knuckles. A gorilla tends to walk on both legs, but is better
suited to walk on all fours. As they are both primates, they also share visible physical traits.
Surprisingly, their dental structure. Gorillas and squirrel monkeys both have canines which are
used for threat gestures. Their molars are better suited to chew insects or vegetarian food that they
might find. Both primates have frontal facing eyes, resulting in a higher reliance on vision rather
than smell. When it comes to studying their behavior, different traits become less apparent. In
observing them in captivity, both primates appeared bored, inactivity or resting was the norm for
the one hour that I observed both species. However, their social structure and heirachy revealed
interesting traits. Squirrel monkeys live in enclosures that house a mixture of males and females.
They spend most of their time foraging for food or resting with their tails in between their legs for
stability. To the untrained eye, it is difficult to distinguish the sex for a squirrel monkey. The lack of
visual emphasis on male dominance seems

How The Brownies Saved Christmas Analysis
How the Brownies Saved Christmas
By
Paul Ray Childers
At the cold North Pole where Santa Claus dwells there live some very, very special little Elves.
They re not the ones that you may know.
These elves are called Brownies, so I am told.
Each one has his own special job and name and treats his work like it was a really fun game.
Yuley is the chief, Brownie number one.
He makes sure that all the jobs get properly done.
Uh oh checks all of their work for mistakes, that any one of the Brownies accidently makes.
Laylow checks beneath Santa s big sleigh, to see that there is nothing that gets in its way.
Early makes sure that the Brownies don t over sleep, so all of their jobs they may get to keep.

Santa and the Brownies went all over the world that Christmas Eve night, at a time when there wasn
t a snowflake in sight!
So if anyone asks you, now you know how Santa gets his sleigh to places that have no snow.
So if you live in a place where snow never comes down, don t let your face get caught with a frown.
The Brownies will help Santa get his sleigh full of presents to you.
That is, if you ve been good. Now, that s true!
And when you leave treats for Santa to put in his mouth, be sure not to leave the Brownies without.
Set out cakes, chips and cookies, and set out a bunch!
Cause they don t have time to have dinner or lunch.
Leave them something to drink, too, like milk, punch or pop.
This will help them to work without having to stop.
It takes much strength to do what they do to help Santa get presents to me and to you!
So, Merry Christmas to all people, and Brownies and Elves, and to all those who think more of
others than they do of themselves.
Merry Christmas, from all the Brownies, who asked me to say,
Let Christmas live in your hearts every day!

How Did William Penn Influence America
After traveling throughout Europe with George Fox, the founder of the Quaker belief, William
Penn was finally granted land over in the new world by the King Charles II, the king of England
at the time. The land was a way to settle the king s debt with Penn s father, however William Penn
had requested the land for a different purpose a place the Quakers could finally live and not be
oppressed. Through his construction of Pennsylvania, Penn had an enormous influence on the future
United States of America through his belief of religious freedom, being a humanitarian, and by
creating an ethnic diversity in the middle colony. His Quaker religion had a major influence on
Pennsylvania, since each Quaker let each person follow the light of Jesus in their own way. Also,
Penn promoted the human welfare for each group that came into Pennsylvania, and tried to create a
sufficient government that ran well enough to support each group. However when developing the
population of Pennsylvania, Penn did something that was extremely uncommon at the time he
invited extremely ethnically diverse groups to live in harmony. It was hard to predict how critical

This is a major stepping stone that created the freedom of religion in Pennsylvania. When
forming the government and laws, Penn abided by his beliefs and created a law that called for

those who believe in God (mainly Christians) could vote and hold official positions. None the

The Green Revolution was a period of technological innovation in agriculture between the years
1943 and the 1970s. It was due to food becoming inadequate, and economic life became primitive
and inactive. This was a time where disease ravaged, conditions were horrible, and hunger was
common. Positively, the Green Revolution caused an increase in foodsupply, expansion into new
technology, and provided social mobility. On the flip side, it also caused the necessity for more
labor, and increased the need for cash incomes. The Green Revolution caused new changes in
social structure. The caste system was slowly being demolished, as the new increase in food

Racism had been escalating in the United States since the 19th century. Anxiety between migrant
workers and the white workers had been excessive for years as many bosses forced them to

Japan. Numerous states banned nuptials between white people and people of Asian ancestry. The
United Statesbecame full of fear and hatred after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in December

Whole Cell Protein Lab Report
Molecules found in nature (termed natural products ) are a rich source of compounds with
biological activities that are useful as drugs. Marine organisms are a particularly good source of
natural products. Imagine that you are a marine biologist searching for new natural products for
use as anticancer drugs. While diving at a coral reef near Tahiti, you notice an unusual sponge that
you have never seen before. You collect a sample, return to your lab and make a whole cellprotein
extract.
1. Come up with an experimental design to see if this sponge has anticancer properties.
Making a whole cell protein extract:
Living cells should be cultured on petri dishes and then incubated with a tracer in order for
downstream flux analysis. Once the metabolic processes have been quenched, the next step is to
lyse the cells, separating both the polar and non polar metabolites from the other cellular
substances at the same time. After these steps, the cells are shaken to completely lyse the
membranes allowing for a more efficient extraction of all possible biomolecules. After shaking,
there should be a clear separation between the polar and non polar phase for the metabolites, with a
well defined interphase containing proteins and nucleic acids. After centrifugation, the different
phases are now separated, and each one can be sampled for further analysis ... Show more content

Theme Of Masculinity In The Lais Of Marie De France
Masculinity is represented in various ways within The Lais of Marie de France. Masculinity is
sometimes depicted in untraditional ways through animal representation, the dominance of women,
and in negative a light through the prideful and selfish acts of the male characters. The qualities,
which are often seen as manly, are quite apparent in an animalistic form of masculinityin the deer in
Guigemar, in comparison to the female lover. The women in Lanval show a sense of manhood in
their authority and power over the situations of the story. Les Deus Amanz tells a poignant story of

Church and its betrayal of Italian Catholics by embracing the fascists in Italy. The story is set in
rural Italy, where Pietro Spina, disguised as a priest, begins to question everything. He questions
Catholicism and the Communist Party after the Italian invasion of Ethiopia. Having to hide in
rural Italy disguised as a priest, Mr. Spina s story is a testament to the difficulty of living as an

Scope of Influence
Fascism had a large influence in Italy, as demonstrated by Mr. Spina s struggles living as a
dissident in hiding. The Italian government was extremely repressive of its opponents, but not only
that. The Catholic Church s support for the fascist government and some of its actions, such as the
invasion of Ethiopia, made it much more difficult for people like Mr. Spina to accept their faith.
For rural Italians and peasants, fascism affected their daily lives even though many of them did not
care about politics or the current situation abroad. Some were killed because of the fascist regime s
brutality and its close minded philosophy.
The most important thing that I got from this book was how fascism thrives by looking at the past
and exploiting it to push ideas for the future. When a fascist talks about how great the past was

Act Amendments. In 1972, the Supreme Court chose the case of United States v. United States
District Court, otherwise called the Keith case, in which the Court considered the legality of an
Attorney General approved warrantless electronic surveillance of a United Statescitizen blamed for
bombing a Central Intelligence Agency building. The Court rejected the government s appeal to
acknowledge a foreign intelligence special case to the per se warrant prerequisite, holding that the
Fourth Amendment prohibited warrantless surveillance directed at domestic threats to United
States national security. The Court directly refused to choose the legality of warrantless
surveillances where foreign powers or their agents were included, leaving open the issue of the
Executive s power to direct such operational activities at those persons or elements. The Court
likewise firmly asked the Congress to supply a judicially manageable standard appropriate to

otherwise called the Skirmish of the Gods, Clash of Divine beings, or simply The God War. It
spoke to a fanciful change in perspective that the Greeks may have acquired from the Antiquated
Close East. The 12 Gods divine beings, otherwise called the senior divine beings. Their ruler was
Cronuswho was ousted by his child Zeus. A large portion of the god battled with Cronus against
Zeus and were rebuffed by being exiled to Tartarus. The predominant one, and the special case that

Essay on A Clockwork Orange
I think that A Clockwork Orange is a book worth reading because it is relatable, makes you think,
and is interesting. The author, Anthony Burgess, was born February 25, 1917. At the young age of
two his mother passed away. He was brought up by his aunt and later his stepmother. Even with
such an unstable childhood Burgess continued on to enroll in college and major in English. He had
a passion for music, which he expressed in the main characterof A Clockwork Orange. Burgess
wrote several accomplished symphonies in his day, as well as over fifty books. He was diagnoses
with a brain tumorat about age 40 but well outlived his doctor s expectations continuing his artistic
output until his death from lung cancerat age 76.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He fails to complete the job, wakes up in a hospital, and finds the mental barriers gone and a pity
dream job is handed to him to compensate for the emotional damage.
A Clockwork Orange had a loose theme of the necessity of not only good, but also evil in human
nature. Alex may have been selfish and deviant but his character and the characters like him did
seem to have a strong grasp on the concept that life was for living. Without the ability of choice to
commit evil acts which was an impulse inside of him, his ability to act human was affected. The
freedom of making these choices seems to be what makes us human. Hence without this freedom he
is driven to attempt suicide.
The major theme of the novel was a battle of the greater importance of a safe stable society or
greater importance of free will. The main character had been conditioned to feel ill at the
thought of bad acts, he had not however been conditioned to not wish to commit these acts. After
viewing the presentation of the quot;successful quot; conversion from evil to quot;good, where
rather than fight Alex licked the man s shoe, the prison Chaplin stated, quot;Self interest, the
fear of physical pain drove him to do that grotesque act of self abasement. Its insincerity was clearly
to be seen. He ceases to be a wrongdoer. He ceases also to be a creature capable of moral choice.
So, is it better to be morally right without free will or

Essay on Three Portrayals of Climate Change
Three Portrayals of Climate Change
You are what you eat. We ve all heard the old saying, reminding us that what we take in, we can t
help but manifest. A similar axiom might apply to other things we take in, like information.
Granted, you are what you read, hear, and/or watch just doesn t have the same ring to it, but it s
operating along the same lines.
But, in yet another difference between humans and food, (P1) creative artists use a variety of
techniques to influence how we take in what they are telling us. By creative artists I mean writers,
directors, and performers, and more specifically I refer to those involved in the works The Day
After Tomorrow (DAT), An Inconvenient Truth(AIT), and Field Notes from a Catastrophe. ... Show

In the beginning, it is possible that this movie was originally intended to do some good. Though
Hollywood reeks of opportunistic capitalism, many of the writers and directors probably had some
truly artistic roots and intentions deep inside them somewhere, at some time. But ultimately, any
semblance of respectably artistic, persuasive, or credible characteristics were horribly mutated in
the name of sensationalism.
The idea for DAT may have been centered on climate change, but the writers quickly tacked on a
love story, dad son issues, crappy science, and man hunting wolves on top of the instantly induced
ice age plot. As such, the movie sacrificed an originally plausible appeal to environmentalism for
people who like a little less talk, a little more action.
The movie was not all bad. One interesting technique was to cast the concept of climate change as
inducing colder temperatures. I think that one of the leading reasons that global warming is not
being confronted more forcefully is that seriously people generally like warm weather. And, in an
extra twist of irony, the nations that are contributing the most greenhouse gases to the earth s
atmosphere are generally in cooler climates, where

Three Varieties of Knowledge- a Critque Essay
Donald Davidson Three Varieties of Knowledge
Submitted By: Nathan Copeland 500349268

In Donald Davidsons Three Varieties of Knowledge, he sets out to more or less prove that A
community of minds is the basis of knowledge; it provides the measure of all things. (Davidson,
218). This is done by first categorizing knowledge into three distinct categories. There is knowledge
of ones own mind, knowledge of another s mind, and knowledge of the shared physical world
around us. He argues that no one could exist without the others. According to Davidson, knowledge
of ones own mind differs from the other two types of knowledge in the sense that one knows the
contents of their own mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Davidson, pg. 217)
Davidson then goes on to say that knowledge of the propositional contents of our own minds is not
possible without the other forms of knowledge, since there is no propositional thought without
communication (Davidson, pg. 213). Furthermore, knowledge of others cannot be inferred unless
we have knowledge of ourselves, as the process of coming to know another s mind is done by
matching evidence from others behaviour to our knowledge of our own, thus showing that
knowledge of our own minds and others is also mutually dependent.
He acknowledges that there are a great deal of possible ways that we could assign our native
language to the language and behavior of another to come about an understanding. He relates this to
the measurement of weight in the sense that no matter what system you use for measurement;
kilograms, pounds ounces, etc., the invariable factor, in this case the actual weight of the object, is
the fact of the matter, not the arbitrary units of measure. His point is that there will likely always be
indeterminacy in our translations, but we will often get the general idea. He also believes that there
are no strict laws that connect mental states with physical ones, stating that such laws can exist
only when concepts connected by the laws are based on criteria of the same sort (Davidson, pg.
215).
This all leads to the fact that we will never be able to agree on how sentences and thoughts should

The interior scenes in the ThrushCross Grange represent the mood of the characters and how it

Swot Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods Essay
Equity Analysis Dick s Sporting Goods has had reputable equitability consistently throughout
the years. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments.
However, some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The
price to earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity
securities, has decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the
previous year, while their earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the
current year where it decreased minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their
expectations of the company. Another commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which
eliminates the manipulation that is possible with net income that is used in the price to earnings
ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus also indicating a lessening in expectations in the
market. The company has had adequate profitability over the previous years that have helped
investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The basic earnings per share and the diluted
earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so
slightly in the current year. This decrease in the earnings per share is most likely due to the
considerable decrease in net income for the current year. But Dick s Sporting Goods has been
managing their earnings per share through share buy backs which is

Peng et al. (2008) articulates a framework in which firm resources and capabilities are viewed as
one of three antecedents of a firm s international business strategy (the other two being industry
based competition and institutional conditions and transitions). Thus, the current literature sheds
light only on how the capabilities of MNEs enable them to formulate appropriate strategic choices
that match their resources with opportunities in their external, that is, their global, environment.
However, mechanisms that ensure successful implementation of the chosen strategies remain
unclear. While we assume that MNEs should be able to establish appropriate structures to match
their strategies, research has shown that there is a lot of incongruence between MNE strategy and
structure (Duysters and Hagedoorn 2001). Effective Global Strategy Implementation 181 Based on
this backdrop and drawing from the strategic fit literature, the purpose of this paper is to offer a
contingency framework of global strategy implementation effectiveness on firm performance. The
research question we seek to answer is what the structural and process requirements are for MNEs
to successfully implement global strategy through increased efficiency and effectiveness of
integration and coordination across world markets. Our central premise is that MNEs capabilities in

Fighting Without Knowledge Will Hurt Essay
In this era of information overload, our brains are bombarded by so many different news outlets it
can be difficult to choose which channel you want to watch. With all the accusations of liberal or
conservative bias dominating the feuds between the cable news channels, it would be easiest to
choose the channel that we believe best fits our own ideological views. When you look at MSNBC
and Fox News the ideologies seem to be completely opposite, but they have some similarities.
Both are accused of having either a liberal or a conservative bias and it is not very difficult to tell
which side the outlet leans toward, because of their constant bickering back and forth.
Fox News Channel may have an abundance of conservative opinion programs ... Show more content

To some this seems absurd, but it is what his base group wants to hear. Whereas on the other side,
you have pundits like Ed Schultz who never criticize the current president, no matter what follies
he may commit, he only demonizes the previous one, again playing to the beliefs of his following.
It is the constant bickering between the people of opposing political ideologies that make the news
difficult for the common man to take with a grain of salt.
Beck often uses what seem to be scare tactics to get of his points across; whereas Schultz is more
likely to give you his own opinion mixed in with some facts to make it all seem completely true.
Neither method is successful in trying to create a balanced news outlet. In fact, the opinions of
each side are grounded so far in the left or right that the middle is impossible to find. I purpose
that Beck should visit MSNBC for a time, while Schultz takes a turn at FNC. Even though the
notion of these dyed in the wool party supporters walking in the shoes of their polar opposites
may seem absurd, but I believe that it would tone both of them down. I hope that it would give
each a reality check and it would bring much needed balance to the cable channels. If the hosts
were open to other people s opinions, no matter how different they were from their own, it would
make the American people feel more trusting toward news people in general and give both
extremes a sense of

Some data is very sensitive and therefore it has to be hidden away from parties who are not
supposed to view it. In this age of computers, their capacity for transfer and retrieval of
information may be exploited by other parties to gain access to confidential and potentially
dangerous data. Therefore, measures have been taken to ensure that data is not accessed by others
which is done by using several methods which, besides physical security, includes the use of
encryption algorithms which are programs that change the way information looks by rendering it
illegible.
Data encryption is an important part of computing and, if done properly, can provide the user with

This complex procedure ensures that the data is safe from being accessed by other parties[4].
Therefore, the key is an important component of the data encryption process since it is the one that
makes the data into a unique cipher text that cannot be accessed by other individuals and it is also
applied while decrypting the data. The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual
knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since
the key is a major component to its being decrypted.
The most common method for breaking a cipher is through brute force attack where the possible
combinations of the key are guessed and applied until the right combination is arrived at.
Therefore, the longer the key the harder it would be to crack the code.
The personal involvement of Janet as shown by the message which asks her to personally transfer
money to her own bank account is suspect. This is in view of the fact that Janet knows the key to
Susan s account and could have used it to transfer the money to her own account. Therefore, the
bank could be using the private key encryption system in which the key is known to the business in
this case Janet and to the customer Susan. The fact that 3DES requires that one knows the key to
access information may be the clue to unraveling the truth. Since Janet is supposed to have the key

  • 2. Exploring Identity In The Harlem Renaissance Exploring Identity in the Harlem Renaissance During the 1920s, black literature and culture exploded in a movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, which at its forefront directly challenged white stereotypes that defined black perception in society. Thus, one major focus during this movement was to recreate and define a new identity for black Americans through the lens of art. Two poets attempted such a feat and, in their works, argued for an identity centered on the authentic roots and customs of African American culture. As evidenced by I, too, Theme for English B, and The Melting Pot, Hughes and Randall assert that black racial identity should not be sequestered, but instead should be embraced in society. Hughes emphasizes that his identity is shaped by being the racially darker one, and also notes that he is connected to his white brethren, despite variations in race. After company arrives, the speaker is sent to the kitchen: And I laugh / And eat well / And grow strong (Hughes 5 7). Often, as a social norm, when guests are invited over to the household, there is a tendency for hosts to put their best foot forward; in the 1920s, this translated into pure whiteness and no blacks. Ironically, though, as the speaker is cast out society, his identity as an black male grows, and this culminates to the speaker s demand to be identified as an American citizen, too singing America (Hughes 1). As summed up by the Poetry Foundation, Hughes s tragedy was double edged: he was unashamedly black at a time when blackness was demode, and he didn t go much beyond one of ... Hamlet was thinking this, O, that this too too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dea, or that the Everlasting had not fixed his canon gainst self slaughter! (Shakespeare 1.2.129). He is suicidal but self slaughter is a sin in his eyes, which he can not commit. Another flaw that connects with Hamlet is not knowing whether people are good or bad. Hamlet judges the ghost, Be thou a spirit of health or goblin damned (Shakespeare 1.4.44). He doesn t know if the ghost is a good spirit or a cursed demon. Those opposed to entering this world tend to single out the negative aspects of it and use them as excuses not to join. Merriam Webster interprets social media as forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos) ( social media ). Nowhere in that definition does it suggest that only one platform exists. That being said, a great deal of good can, and does, emerge from a multitude of such forums. Human interactions are increasingly occurring in virtual settings; non participants stubbornly fight the inevitable as its versatility and convenience are too tough to resist. Role Of Lethal Lipotoxic Hepatocyte Injury Lethal Lipotoxic Hepatocyte Injury Accumulation of lipid intermediates in hepatocytes causes hepatocellular lipotoxicity, leading to cellular stress, dysfunction and eventually cell death. Lipotoxicity induced hepatocyte cell death appears to be mainly mediated by the apoptotic machinery activated by death receptors and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.5 6 Other cell death modes, such as necroptosis and pyroptosis, have also been reviewed recently.6 7 However, the contribution of necroptosis in lipid induced hepatocyte death during NASH needs further definition.6 8 Albeit growing evidence supports a role for the inflammasome in NASH development, the contribution of hepatocyte pyroptosis to hepatocellular injury and death also needs to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ballooned hepatocytes are not only a hallmark of NASH but also, they have been implicated in the disease pathogenesis. Ballooned hepatocytes generate sonic hedgehog (Shh), a ligand of the developmental hedgehog signaling cascade, which promotes liver fibrogenesis.11 12 Later, ballooned hepatocytes were proposed to represent undead cells .13 Ballooned hepatocytes bear some analogy to Drosophila melanogaster stressed cells which exist in a state of initiated cell death program that cannot be executed ( undead ) and secrete various factors, including Shh, to promote tissue repair and healing.14 Models of undead ballooned hepatocytes using lipotoxic treatment in hepatocytes lacking caspase 9, a protease critical for the execution of the apoptotic pathway, are characterized by activation of c Jun N terminal kinase (JNK), which led to an upregulation of Shh in the absence of cell death. In these cells, lipotoxicity induced hepatocyte derived Shh functioned as an autocrine survival factor. These observations imply that inhibition of hedgehog signaling may prevent the development of ballooned hepatocytes, a hypothesis yet to be tested. ER stress has also been shown to promote expression and secretion of Shh by hepatocytes.12 Shh may then promote fibrogenesis by activating hepatic stellate cells, the major target cells of hepatic Shh signaling. Hepatocytes are also an important hedgehog responsive cell type during lipotoxicity. First, hepatocytes express different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of running dozens of different tests to find out what is wrong with someone, all a doctor has to do is draw the patient s blood, send it to the lab, and wait for the results (Agus 110 112). This will save a lot of time and money for the patient as well as helping him/her improve her medical condition. • 24. Government Control In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World Over the years, we have been enjoying the benefits of technology that it brings with it. But have we ever thought how the same technology can be threatening if fallen in bad hands. One way this is possible is by having government control over science. ¬¬The government can use technology to monitor our activities and personal life. A simple democratic governmentcan become an extreme and abstract socialist by just using technologyand making laws that we might find helpful, but indeed control us. В¬The Matrix, Brave New World, and The Village, do a good job of prophesizing the impacts of government control of technology on the society. The control of population can be the most impacted by government. Huxley in his book Brave New World predict this behavior by including the concept of test tube babies produced at the Central London Hatchery. In chapters 1 and 2, we get to know that every person is decanted from the hatchery by scientific processes. There is no form of natural birth, and in fact, it s illegal. The number and kind of humans produced is controlled by the government who gives the hatchery orders based on the requirements. This is evident when the DHC speaks the predestinators send in figure from the fertilizers and they are given the embryos they ask for (10). This means that you will... In observing them in captivity, both primates appeared bored, inactivity or resting was the norm for the one hour that I observed both species. However, their social structure and heirachy revealed interesting traits. Squirrel monkeys live in enclosures that house a mixture of males and females. How Did William Penn Influence America After traveling throughout Europe with George Fox, the founder of the Quaker belief, William Penn was finally granted land over in the new world by the King Charles II, the king of England at the time. The land was a way to settle the king s debt with Penn s father, however William Penn had requested the land for a different purpose a place the Quakers could finally live and not be oppressed. Through his construction of Pennsylvania, Penn had an enormous influence on the future United States of America through his belief of religious freedom, being a humanitarian, and by creating an ethnic diversity in the middle colony. His Quaker religion had a major influence on Pennsylvania, since each Quaker let each person follow the light of Jesus in their own way. Also, Penn promoted the human welfare for each group that came into Pennsylvania, and tried to create a sufficient government that ran well enough to support each group. Come up with an experimental design to see if this sponge has anticancer properties. Making a whole cell protein extract: Living cells should be cultured on petri dishes and then incubated with a tracer in order for downstream flux analysis. Once the metabolic processes have been quenched, the next step is to lyse the cells, separating both the polar and non polar metabolites from the other cellular substances at the same time. After these steps, the cells are shaken to completely lyse the membranes allowing for a more efficient extraction of all possible biomolecules. After shaking, there should be a clear separation between the polar and non polar phase for the metabolites, with a well defined interphase containing proteins and nucleic acids. The idea for DAT may have been centered on climate change, but the writers quickly tacked on a love story, dad son issues, crappy science, and man hunting wolves on top of the instantly induced ice age plot. As such, the movie sacrificed an originally plausible appeal to environmentalism for people who like a little less talk, a little more action. The movie was not all bad. (Davidson, 218). This is done by first categorizing knowledge into three distinct categories. There is knowledge of ones own mind, knowledge of another s mind, and knowledge of the shared physical world around us. He argues that no one could exist without the others. According to Davidson, knowledge of ones own mind differs from the other two types of knowledge in the sense that one knows the contents of their own mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Davidson, pg. 217) Davidson then goes on to say that knowledge of the propositional contents of our own minds is not possible without the other forms of knowledge, since there is no propositional thought without communication (Davidson, pg. 213). Furthermore, knowledge of others cannot be inferred unless we have knowledge of ourselves, as the process of coming to know another s mind is done by matching evidence from others behaviour to our knowledge of our own, thus showing that knowledge of our own minds and others is also mutually dependent. He acknowledges that there are a great deal of possible ways that we could assign our native language to the language and behavior of another to come about an understanding. He relates this to the measurement of weight in the sense that no matter what system you use for measurement; kilograms, pounds ounces, etc., the invariable factor, in this case the actual weight of the object, is the fact of the matter, not the arbitrary units of measure. His point is that there will likely always be indeterminacy in our translations, but we will often get the general idea. He also believes that there are no strict laws that connect mental states with physical ones, stating that such laws can exist only when concepts connected by the laws are based on criteria of the same sort (Davidson, pg. 215). This all leads to the fact that we will never be able to agree on how sentences and thoughts should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Swot Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods Essay Equity Analysis Dick s Sporting Goods has had reputable equitability consistently throughout the years. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments. However, some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The price to earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity securities, has decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the previous year, while their earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the current year where it decreased minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their expectations of the company. Another commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which eliminates the manipulation that is possible with net income that is used in the price to earnings ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus also indicating a lessening in expectations in the market. The company has had adequate profitability over the previous years that have helped investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The basic earnings per share and the diluted earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so slightly in the current year. This decrease in the earnings per share is most likely due to the considerable decrease in net income for the current year. But Dick s Sporting Goods has been managing their earnings per share through share buy backs which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2008) articulates a framework in which firm resources and capabilities are viewed as one of three antecedents of a firm s international business strategy (the other two being industry based competition and institutional conditions and transitions). Thus, the current literature sheds light only on how the capabilities of MNEs enable them to formulate appropriate strategic choices that match their resources with opportunities in their external, that is, their global, environment. However, mechanisms that ensure successful implementation of the chosen strategies remain unclear. While we assume that MNEs should be able to establish appropriate structures to match their strategies, research has shown that there is a lot of incongruence between MNE strategy and structure (Duysters and Hagedoorn 2001). Effective Global Strategy Implementation 181 Based on this backdrop and drawing from the strategic fit literature, the purpose of this paper is to offer a contingency framework of global strategy implementation effectiveness on firm performance. The research question we seek to answer is what the structural and process requirements are for MNEs to successfully implement global strategy through increased efficiency and effectiveness of integration and coordination across world markets. • 48. Fighting Without Knowledge Will Hurt Essay In this era of information overload, our brains are bombarded by so many different news outlets it can be difficult to choose which channel you want to watch. With all the accusations of liberal or conservative bias dominating the feuds between the cable news channels, it would be easiest to choose the channel that we believe best fits our own ideological views. When you look at MSNBC and Fox News the ideologies seem to be completely opposite, but they have some similarities. Both are accused of having either a liberal or a conservative bias and it is not very difficult to tell which side the outlet leans toward, because of their constant bickering back and forth. Fox News Channel may have an abundance of conservative opinion programs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To some this seems absurd, but it is what his base group wants to hear. Whereas on the other side, you have pundits like Ed Schultz who never criticize the current president, no matter what follies he may commit, he only demonizes the previous one, again playing to the beliefs of his following. It is the constant bickering between the people of opposing political ideologies that make the news difficult for the common man to take with a grain of salt. Beck often uses what seem to be scare tactics to get of his points across; whereas Schultz is more likely to give you his own opinion mixed in with some facts to make it all seem completely true. Neither method is successful in trying to create a balanced news outlet. In fact, the opinions of each side are grounded so far in the left or right that the middle is impossible to find. I purpose that Beck should visit MSNBC for a time, while Schultz takes a turn at FNC. Even though the notion of these dyed in the wool party supporters walking in the shoes of their polar opposites may seem absurd, but I believe that it would tone both of them down. I hope that it would give each a reality check and it would bring much needed balance to the cable channels. If the hosts were open to other people s opinions, no matter how different they were from their own, it would make the American people feel more trusting toward news people in general and give both extremes a sense of ... • 49. Cryptgraphh Cryptography Cryptography Some data is very sensitive and therefore it has to be hidden away from parties who are not supposed to view it. In this age of computers, their capacity for transfer and retrieval of information may be exploited by other parties to gain access to confidential and potentially dangerous data. Therefore, measures have been taken to ensure that data is not accessed by others which is done by using several methods which, besides physical security, includes the use of encryption algorithms which are programs that change the way information looks by rendering it illegible. Data encryption is an important part of computing and, if done properly, can provide the user with means through which data can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This complex procedure ensures that the data is safe from being accessed by other parties[4]. Therefore, the key is an important component of the data encryption process since it is the one that makes the data into a unique cipher text that cannot be accessed by other individuals and it is also applied while decrypting the data. The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since the key is a major component to its being decrypted. The most common method for breaking a cipher is through brute force attack where the possible combinations of the key are guessed and applied until the right combination is arrived at. Therefore, the longer the key the harder it would be to crack the code. The personal involvement of Janet as shown by the message which asks her to personally transfer money to her own bank account is suspect. This is in view of the fact that Janet knows the key to Susan s account and could have used it to transfer the money to her own account. Therefore, the bank could be using the private key encryption system in which the key is known to the business in this case Janet and to the customer Susan. The fact that 3DES requires that one knows the key to access information may be the clue to unraveling the truth. Since Janet is supposed to have the key for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
