Comparative And Contrast Essay Topics
Crafting a comparative and contrast essay on the topic of "Comparative And Contrast Essay
Topics" can be a challenging task. The difficulty lies in the need to carefully select two or more
subjects that not only have similarities and differences but also provide enough material for a
comprehensive analysis. Identifying meaningful points of comparison, conducting thorough
research, and presenting a balanced view require a significant amount of time and effort.
One of the primary challenges is to strike the right balance between the subjects, ensuring that
neither one overshadows the other. Additionally, maintaining coherence and clarity throughout
the essay is crucial to help readers follow the logical flow of your arguments. Developing a
strong thesis statement that captures the essence of the comparison and contrast is another
intricate aspect, demanding careful consideration of the subjects at hand.
Furthermore, finding credible sources to support your arguments, and effectively integrating
them into the essay, adds another layer of complexity. The need for a well-structured outline
becomes imperative to organize your thoughts and ensure a seamless transition between different
sections.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing a comparative and contrast essay can be
intellectually rewarding. It encourages critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to
express complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. As with any writing endeavor, revision is
key, and refining the essay through multiple drafts helps polish the final product.

The Importance Of Undergraduate Degree In Early
Childhood...
I am going to get my Undergraduate Degree in Early Childhood Education and
Special Education. I have been in the field and have overseen how technology has
taken its toll on students. My expected graduation is in 2018 and I always had
trouble with math. I know how hard it is to learn it. I want to see other students
succeed in math too. I have had two math courses on how to teach math to young
children and I have discovered how much it does help children. Especially now,
technology is a part of their world and they use it daily now. Erin Moss is an
Associate Professor at Millersville University and teaches a variety of math courses.
She teaches Math 104 and 105, which instructs future educators the importance of
math and how to teach mathematics to young children. She is the moderator of Math
Educators of Millersville University and helps to bring joy to teaching her students.

They will become what they are supposed to become because they grasped that
knowledge at an early age. The NIR should fund this research because every child
learns different and they need the resources to succeed and this will give them the
opportunity to learn the way they know how. Students test scores will go up and then
the schools test scores will go up in math as well. Then the United States will go up
in rank across the world. It does not just affect the community, it affect all schools
around the country so that they can better educate these children to learn they way

Bornean Orangutan Research Paper
Orangutans are amongst the most iconic species in wildlife conservation (Meijaard,
E., Wich, S., Ancrenaz, M., Marshall, A J., 2012) Their behaviours and facial
expressions give them an uncannily human like personality. Their genetic
comparisons, cognitive and behavioural similarities indicate a close evolutionary
relationship between humans and themselves. [REF] There are two species of the
Orangutan, the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) and the Bornean Orangautan
(Pongo pygmaeus). The Sumatran orangutan belongs exclusively to the island of
Sumatra, Indonesia. This species is rarer than its Bornean equivalent. The Sumatran
orangutan lives mainly amongst the trees of tropical rainforests, and rely heavily on
these forests for survival.
Fedex, The Most Successful Companies Of The World Essay
FedEx is considered one of the most successful companies in the world. When
founder Fred Smith was in college, he wrote a paper that outlined a system that
would deliver time sensitive items quickly (fedex.com). In 1971 his idea came to
life and FedEx was born in Little Rock, Arkansas (fedex.com). In the 45 years they
ve been operating they still keep their Purple Promise. That s the nickname of their
motto to make every FedExexperience outstanding (fedex.com). Innovative services
such as overnight shipping needed to match with excellent customerservice.
Their website, which was founded in 1994 (wired.com), allowed customers to
track their packages within seconds. Package tracking allows a customer to follow
their packages and gives peace of mind that important items have met their
destination. Prior to the inception of their website, a customer would have to call to
track their package. While still an option, many people prefer the ease of tracking
from their computers or smartphones. Their application Ship Manager can be
installed on a customers website so they can determine shipping charges and print
labels from home or the office (textbook, p. 22). Instead of nurturing an isolated
environment from business owners, FedEx looks to integrate their services within a
businesses management information system. We allow customers to drag and drop
names from their address books into FedEx Ship Manager, says FedEx CIO Robert
Carter. The integration provided makes the
Necrotizing Fasciitis Research Paper
Necrotizing Fasciitis is a medical infection which requires emergency professional
help as soon as it is indicated. The break down of this name can create an idea of
the common symptoms relating to the bacteria. For example it is means
inflammation describing how the skin gets due to the dead skin tissue. This
requires medical diagnosis before being able to be treated. Lab tests and/or imaging
are always required. This can be short term or long term eventually being deadly.
Fewer than 20,000 cases in the United States occur per year. Necrotizing Fasciitisis a
bacterial infection which causes the tissue under the skin to be destroyed. This
flesh eating infection is caused by more than one type of bacteria making it rare in
many cases. Once the bacteria enter the body, it can quickly spread causing it to be
deadly. The fascia, which is the connective tissue surrounding the blood vessels,
nerves, fat, and muscles is infected making the body weak and lack support. In order
to acquire this infection the skin needs to be broken such as getting a cut, scrape, or

Signs of inflammation may not be visible within the early stages making it more
risky and have a larger fatality rate. Symptoms will appear after 3 to 4 days. It will
start with a fever and the feeling of being unwell. Unfortunately it will make the
skin red and hot with blisters and intense pain in the areas. Some patients have
experienced confusion, dehydration, diarrhea, and vomiting. Once they are in a bad
stage, the affected area of tissue will turn black as a sign of it starting to die. As fast
as 5 days, the patient is considered extremely ill. At this time, the infection has now
entered the bloodstream causing them to have high temperature and low blood
pressure. Sometimes the pain of the skin will come to an end due to the nerves being

Business and the Economy
Business and the Economy
1. Business is one of the principal elements fueling the economy and the way that
functions reflects on society as a whole. Businesses are responsible for the creation
of a competitive market and it is only safe to say that they make it possible for a
community to achieve economic progress. Individuals in a competitive environment
feel pressured to act as effectively as possible and they are thus enabled to put across
behavior that contributes to the wellbeing of the economy. Even with the fact that
businesses are not exactly meant to cause a great deal of social benefits, they are
nonetheless essential in keeping the economy alive.
Although it would be absurd to claim that businesses has a moral role in society, one
can claim that it is one of the most important tools assisting people achieve progress.
Many people experience stress as a result of their involvement in the economy, as they
are unable to keep up with the fact that it is constantly growing and they end up being
unable to sustain themselves.
2. In spite of the fact that people generally focus on public and private entities when
they think about the economy, nonprofit organizations are also an important actor in
the economy. Public institutions are in charge of producing goods and services that
are generally considered to be wanted by everyone. Private agencies focus on
providing people with personalized goods and services and are largely dependent on
market competition in order to
Owner Chestnut Character Analysis
When you re surrounded by a certain person for a very long time and get the
opportunity to observe their personality and values, you learn a lot. Owner
Chestnut grew up in mexico and moved to the U.S at 5 years old. When I describe
him, he has a buff figure, choclate brown eyes, and short thick dark brown hair. He
grew up learning responsibility, hard work, and compassion but he also values his
selflessness in his life. The events that embodied his selflessness the most is when
he spent a whole day at his aunt s house preparing for his nieces birthday party. He
helped out and hustled on decorations, food, and watching over all the little kids and
it showed how willing he was to help others. Another event that happened was when I

A Valediction Forbidding Mourning Donne Analysis
In A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning , Donne writes the poem for his lover,
knowing that they will eventually be apart and have to say goodbye to each other,
as valediction is another word for farewell. He states in the poem that Twere
profanation of our joys / to tell the laity of our love , Donne is saying that it would
be disrespectful to even attempt to let the common people know about their love,
because that s how special it is. No matter how hard they they try to explain it, no
one would understand it, because their love is simply that ethereal. Donne then goes
on to say that, Moving of th earth brings harms and fears / Men reckon what it did
and meant / But trepidation of the spheres / Though greater far, is innocent. Donne
seems to be comparing other loves to earthquakes in that the shaking of the earth,
similar to the rough patches in relationships, could be the end of them. They are
fragile and unstable, easily destroyed. However, Donne s relationship is so strong,
nothing, not even distance, can shake it. To further prove this point, Donne explains
that Dull sublunary lover s love / (Whose soulis sense) can not admit / Absence,
because it doth remove / those things which elemented it. In this, he s insinuating that
the love from those who are grounded on earth under the moon is malleable and
weak, and that something like distance can destroy their relationship. Once again,
Donne uses this type of metaphor to exaggerate the point that his love is
otherworldly as compared to everyone else s.
Throughout the entirety of the poem, John Donne reiterates the point that he and his
lover share a soul. For example, he states at separate times, Our two souls therefore,
which are one, and If they be two, they are two so, again in reference to their souls.
Donne refers to him and his love as inter assured, implying that their souls are one,
and no distance, no matter how far, will affect their bond.
Similar to Donne, Anne Bradstreet also faces a separation from her lover, and
expresses her emotions in a poem entitled, A Letter to Her Husband, Absent upon
Public Employment . Bradstreet s husband was a governor for the Massachusetts Bay
Colony, and therefore was away for business much of the

In His Own Words: Analysis of The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
They say that one can never fully understand a situation until he/she is put into that
scenario themselves. Too often, history is written by those who have only read and
researched the issues, remaining distant and objective to get all the facts straight.
While there is honor in this approach, one cannot experience the horror of war, the
thrill of victory, or the reality of a situation if written from a third person
perspective. No, history is best told by those who have participated in it: the soldiers
who crawled through the muddy trenches, the revelers who celebrated the great
national victory, or the people who did not witness history, but made it. Particularly
on the issue of slavery, copious amounts of writing exist on both the pro slavery and
anti slavery side from scholars, politicians, and citizens supporting their views, but
very little exists from the perspective of slaves and former slaves. This in part is
what makes The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an autobiography of
former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass, so incredible and valuable to the
American audience. Speaking with authority as one who has experienced slavery
firsthand, the self educated Douglass exquisitely manipulates a bevy of literary
devices, such as setting, writing style, and allegory, to illustrate the horrors of slavery
and form a

My Dream Of A Baseball Dream
On Returning: A baseball dream
I am on my way to the New England Baseball Complex in Manchester. It is early
August, and the end of the regular season. It has been an unusually lengthy season
and I am ready for it to be finally over. I have traveled all over New England and have
visited many different states. Baseball is my first sport, the sport I focus on the most
throughout the year. Baseball has always been my favorite sport ever since I was
little. My dad taught me to play when I was around 6 and I have played extensively
every year since. I looked up to my brother a lot growing up and I remember
playing with him when I got home from school. My family was always there for
me and always was around to help me do what I wanted to do. It has been my goal
to play in college and get a scholarship. This summer I took my first step toward
reaching that goal by competing in many tournaments where I can get exposure to the
colleges.
This tournament had many college coaches from across New England. There are a
lot of good teams and players and it was important to stand out to the coaches. The
last 2 games we had were a double header and I had to catch both games in 100
degree weather. I did it because it was something I could do to show toughness and
standout. We lost the first gameand won the second game. We made the playoffsand
are seeded in 4th. It is the playoff game of the tournament. We played really good so
far going 3 1 0 on the weekend. I was doing alright throughout
Pop Culture And Gender Stereotypes
How does pop culture perpetuate gender stereotypes? Popular culture is a broad
perspective of how society is perceived today. It plays a major role especially in
our youth, paints an image of how one should look, act, or perceive the world and
their surroundings; also persuading a group of individuals into accepting and
pursuing a financial way of living. Pop cultureis involved in our everyday life
whether we are aware or not, from watching television, listening to the radio, or even
surfing the internet, it s always here. Society tends to minimize what effect Pop has
negatively. The internet, one of the most influential to keep up with Pop culture,
television shows has influenced genderstereotypes in a way that it reinforces that men
should be the dominant gender and women should dress and act a certain way to be
successful.
Popular culture inspires youth the desire to be what they see in the media. Parents
feel the need to bring up their offspring in the utmost sophisticate way, though
obliviously allowing television to develop their understanding. Filled with fairy
tales featuring Princesses, heroes, and magics, these popular mythical characters
have become a major influence on younger children especially little girls. They
imagine becoming princesses hoping that one day they will be swept away by
their Prince Charming. As they progress in age, young girls begin to watch
sitcoms portraying how they should look, feel, and dress. In today s time, popular
culture is interpellated as to how the process of growing fast is eminent. From
baby girl to princess, from a princess to a young lady; all categorized by age
groups. Male characters are often portrayed to be a prince or a hero of such. Boys
are usually identified as the prince start as an adolescence swiftly growing into a
young adult. According to Stephanie Hanes, parents are having a hard time dealing
with it, they say that things they used to do aren t working; they say they re losing
control of what happens to their girls at younger ages. (pp 511) Pop culture creates
an image of how women should resemble themselves from the beginning of
childhood to the age of accountability by means of dolls, animated characters, and
kids digital games promoting
The Viability Of Carbon Capture And Storage

The Viability of Carbon Capture and Storage From UK Power Stations
The UK s Climate Change Act and participation in the Paris Agreement, has been
put into place to ensure the UK plays its part in reducing the emission of
greenhouse gasses into our environment. The UK, in particular, has committed to
reducing its emissions to 80% of 1990 levels by 2050 and must adhere to strict self
set Carbon Budgets until 2030. In order to meet targets set by the Paris agreement,
by 2070 there must be no anthropogenic CO2 input, thus we need to actively
remove CO2 from the atmosphere, a more common term for this is negative
emissions (James R, 2017). There are several ways of going about this, in this essay
we will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this essay, three main issues are brought forward and analysed in order to make a
conclusion on the viability of carbon capture for UK power stations, these issues are;
Cost, CCS Technologies, and Storage.
The aim of this paragraph is to analyse the costs involved with the implementation
of CCS technologies in UK power plants. It is estimated that in the UK, CCS could
cost every household up to 10% more per year for electricity (Haszeldine, R.2009)
however this cost is predicted to reduce the necessary costs of CO2 removal in 2050
by a factor of 10, which will likely save the country more money in the long run. The
greatest cost to the UK when discussing the implementation of CCS technology in
UK power stations is carbon capture.

Physical resources include the building, maintenance and security of the premises.
However, the Technological resources include the physical equipment and designs

Physical Resources
These are the resources that the business needs to maintain in order to carry out its

The Rock Towers On Her Property
Like the defendant in Moore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment as a matter
of law in this action, because she could not have known or realized that the rock
towers on her property would pose an unreasonable risk of death or serious bodily
injury to Maria. Herrera s private property is located in a remote location in
Arizona where she allows adults to view her land art by appointment only. It is
reasonably understandable that Herrera does not like uninvited or unwanted
individuals on her property at anytime. Moreover, since the land art was for adults
only to view, she never allowed children on her property to view her land art. As a
result, no injuries were ever reported from the adults who visited and viewed her land
art.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, however, this argument ignores the fact that Herrera fulfilled her duty as a
landowner to not willfully or wantonly injure a trespasser, such as Maria. To the
contrary, Herrera took appropriate measures to ensure the safely of adults and
children by enforcing restrictions to safeguard her guest and the land art on her
property.
Therefore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment because she could not have
known or realized that the rock towers on her property would pose an unreasonable
risk of death or serious bodily injury to Maria.

John Kotter Failure
Large scale change is not a simple matter, the complexity and many moving parts can
be distilled down into a couple models, however pulling off a successful
transformation is extremely challenging. Unfortunately, the odds are not good for
change. Research by John Kotter revealed that only thirty percent of change programs
succeed. The main reasons for the failures are not related to resources or budgets, but
behavior and more specifically, employee resistance and managementbehaviors that
do not support the intended changes. These are the two leading causes that result in
seventy percent of failures. Kotter first reported on this dismal success rate back in
1995, and quite honestly, there has been little progress at advancing the success of
Civil Rights Movement Songs
Musicians tend to compose music based on the struggles they experience in their
daily life. The Civil Rights Movement era is a perfect example of this, African
Americans were fighting for their basic human rights, to be equal, and to be free.
Many would express their feelings through different types of mediums, usually
music. Five artists, I found to do this were Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye,
Stevie Wonder, and Nina Simone. Their music became anthems of the movement and
gave hope and power their listeners. These artists have become icons of the
movement with their powerful words.
With his soulful voice and good looks, Sam Cooke is a great example of a
musician who used their music to support the Civil Right Movement. He uses a
wide selection of various types of instruments to portray the different emotion the
movement came with. One of his most legendary songs for the movement, released
in 1964 was A Change Is Gonna Come . The song voices hardships that black men
experienced in America during the 60 s. Being that Cooke grew up with little
money he adds his own struggle in the song, hence the born by the river in a little
tent he stays confident that change is gonna come. His song talks about how African
Americans are not able to enjoy normal everyday things like walking down the street
or going to the movies without that constant fear over their shoulders of getting in
trouble. One of the main meanings of this song according to musiqology.com is how
blacks are
Inequality And Oppression Of War In Richard Connelly s...
Tragedy, Inequality and Oppression during War
Societies are always marred by acts of incivility and social unrest across various
divides. This stance could not have been brought out in no other better way than the
way Connelly heightened the Guatemalan Civil War in from Three Dirges . The war
hailed out as the most daunting stances that have ever taken place on the global
realm. It is deemed to have lasted for over 36 centuries, primarily stemming from the
battles between rural poor people and the Guatemalan government. Notably, Connelly
posits that this war inflicted pain, hatred, and destitution in the lives of the Guatemala
citizens. Connelly heightens how the acts of genocide, oppression and racism dent
the calls for democracy, sustainability and progress of nations through the piece
Requiem Guatemala, from Three Dirges ; thus, compelling societies to embrace
peace and tranquility.

Marshall elicits an explicit view of how people are treated during a war. Besides, the
author brings forth the cruelty and uncertainty that always daunt the war periods,
either before or after. Notably, it shows how the North American Indians were being
treated during the 18th and 19th centuries by the people. Everyone was scared of
helping out the Indians since it was known that once your caught helping them in any
way you die. They were mistreated, and they were not even entitled to an education,
and they were left to live like the lower dumb individual class. Further, they were not
taught how to write and read since the whites thought they might learn and run away
yet they wanted to use them as slaves. This mistreatment and other things sparked the
civil war that happened in Guatemalan that Marshall Bennett Connelly talks about in
the Three Dirge. Therefore, it is prudent that all societal realms learn from such a
debacle and embrace peace in all their
Brain Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is a brain disorder which is seen in both children and adults and is
manifested by difficulties in attention, and hyper active impulsive tendencies.
Previously, DSM IV used a 18 item list to determine presence of symptoms with
the presence of 6 or more, having persisted at least 6 months being the criteria for
diagnosis (DSM IV, 1994). DSM V has retained this 18 item list, but has lowered the
threshold for requirement in those over the age of 17 from 6 to 5 (DSM V, 2013).
The new changes are also reflected in an increase of age of onset criteria from 7 years
to 12 years (DSM V, 2013). In addition, for DSM V, requirements of symptom
effects on daily life has been relaxed, making it easier for patients to meet a full

The hyperactive and impulsivity symptoms include: fidgeting with hands, talks
excessively, unable to play or engage in leisure activities quietly and difficulties
awaiting in turn (DSM IV, 1994). These items have been retained in DSM V.
However, because DSM IV was criticized for it s poor criteria set in diagnosing
adults (Roberts Milich 2013), exemplars have been changed to include more adult
suitable behaviours, such as in one item, DSM IV notes often avoids, dislikes, or is
reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort (such as schoolwork
or home work) . Whereas in DSM V, this has been altered to Often avoids, dislikes,
or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort (e.g., schoolwork
or homework; for older adolescents and adults, preparing reports, completing forms,
reviewing lengthy papers) . There is also evidence that there is significant instability
in the appearance of symptoms, especially as children mature into adolescent and
adulthood. Hence, it is not surprising for children to become less hyperactive
impulsive as they become older, and becoming predominantly inattentive (Roberts
Gold Rush Women
Assessments of the California Gold Rush often apply to a romantic gloss,
suggesting that the colorful Days of 49 were a brief , exciting interlude in an
otherwise orderly narrative. The Gold Rush was romantic, brief, and exciting, but it
was much more than that. During the 19th century California seemed like a paradise
for both men and women looking to escape the East coast in search of a new life and
opportunity. Many men and women took the opportunity to escape from the west
coast to start a new life at the booming industry in California. Many of these travelers
were successful in their new adventure while others were not, however it was
different for women from different ethnic backgrounds who suffered a inhumane
fortune due to the imbalanced gender difference present in California. The culture
found in California during the gold rush provides different perspective on the
treatment of women and how the standards of sexuality were less important in the
United States.
To begin with, while the Native women and Chinese women were being mistreated,
in contrary, the White women of higher class were often considered the most
complimentary for marriage. These women were chosen by many men, they received
numerous gifts and pleasant treatment. However, on the other hand, Minority women
were particularly Indian and Chinese, they had a much different unfortunate
experiences during the gold rush. Native Americans and Chinese women were often
forced into prostitution around the gold

Pre-Industrial Astronomy
While researching pre industrial astronomical accomplishments, it seemed that a good
majority of the accomplishments being highlighted were those of the Mayan and
Aztec civilizations. Feeling that these topics may be over researched, I decided to
turn my attention towards the accomplishments of those in a different area of the
world. After switching my focus to the pre industrial astronomical feats of ancient
Greek scientists, I have found that in many cases, these scientists contributed more
than one idea, finding, or apparatus to the field of astronomy. For this research, I
decided to hone in on the contributions made by Greek scientist Hipparchus.

The Effects Of Alcoholism In The Dubliners By James Joyce
Alcoholism has caused many struggles for the Irish people throughout their history.
One writer who chose to include the rampant alcoholism of Ireland in his stories is
James Joyce. Joyce wrote a collection of short stories, The Dubliners. These short
stories take place in Dublin, Ireland. One common theme in all of these stories is the
suffering the characters go through. Another theme in all of the stories is alcoholism.
Most of his stories feature a character who is an alcoholic. The alcoholic tends to
create problems for the people around him. By using alcoholics to further the plots of
his stories, James Joyce pins the blame for Irish suffering on alcohol. Alcohol appears
to play a large part in the Irish lifestyle. According to one... Show more content on

In 2010, it was reported that Irish people drank 11.4 litres of pure alcohol per capita
( Global status report on alcohol and health 2014. ). This statistic was collected by
surveying the drinking habits of people above the age of 15 who lived in Ireland.
However, the averages change depending on which group is analyzed. Among only
drinkers, the average alcohol consumption rises from 11.4 litres to 14.7 litres. The
statistics change even more depending on gender. The average Irish male
consumes about 19.8 litres of pure alcohol a year while the average Irish female
consumes about only 9.3 litres of pure alcohol a year ( Global status report on
alcohol and health 2014. ). According to these statistics, it is much more likely for a
male to pe a problem drinker or an alcoholic than a female.
Male alcoholism is also very prevalent in Joyce s writings. In Araby, there is a male
alcoholic that causes problems for a little boy, causing him to be late to visit a
bazaar. In Eveline, there is an alcoholic father that beats his daughter and causes
issues for his other younger children. In The Dead, there is a drunken male party
guest that every other partygoer has to keep track of and watch for. In The Boarding
House, there is a drunken husband that forces his wife and their child out of their
house because of his drunken rampages. Not only is there a connection between the
statistics presented earlier and

Burberry represents nowadays one of the most successful fashion brands across the
world. Founded in 1856, the company s expansion and growth was the result of an
accurate management planning and a recent winner marketing strategy that will be
explored below in this article. The focus on this case study is based on the challenge
of repositioning in the market the brand Burberry, which by the middle of the 90 s

more expressive, the installation of this showcases in those locations permits a

way the communication of what the new position of Burberry is (the niche referred
before) turned to be faster and clearer. The product line was updated dividing the
products into two new categories: continuity and fashion oriented. Continuity
products are expected to have a longer life cycle over the years while the fashion

are trend sensitive and they enter/leave the market whenever the collections are new

womenswear and accessories and the brand switched name from Burberry s to

This Way for the Gas, Ladies Gentlemen
The sole factor that separated Tadeusz Borowski from the gas chambers when he
was at Auschwitz beyond the fact that he wasn t Jewish was his cooperation with the
S.S. soldiers. He assisted the Nazis in eliminating thousands of Jewish men, women,
and children. This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen ultimately uses the
narrator to convey Borowski s message of what really happened during the Holocaust
. This also explains why the story is in first person: it reflects the author s own
experiences. Borowski s writing is quite crude: harsh yet realistic. Readers cannot
judge Borowski negatively; he was as much of a victim as the people coming off the
transports.

Borowski mentioned a key reason as to why he did not commit suicide. His own
question What will the world know of us if the Germans win? allowed him to fight
through the struggle in the hopes of getting out alive one day and sharing the truth
with the world; it would be the only way the truth emerged (Charters 150). What
may seem immoral to people outside the camps is ordinary to those inside as
proven by Henri s actions in the story. Ultimately, though, the two worlds are
incomparable. Due to his need to collaborate with the S.S. soldiers in order to keep
himself alive, many may consider that Borowski indeed played a huge part in the
deaths of thousands of people when he could have taken a more noble route self

take into account the terror that filled the prisoners. In a hope to see life beyond
imprisonment, anyone would take part in this process. The survival of the fittest

While some of my friends would have meatloaf for dinner, I would have Pakistani

Truman Doctrine Essay
Truman had no foreign policy experience but now as the Commander and Chief he

announced the surrender of the Nazi Germans. After their surrender the United

that was the possibility of an attack by the Japanese.
Truman approved of the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
which forced the Japanese to also surrender. The bombing and the signing of the

When one looks at how the media continues to communicate certain messages to the
American public, it is remarkable how some trends have continued for decades. This
is particularly true concerning images and graphics and the subtle messages that they
carry in the world of print communications. The unfortunate reality is that the media
is no different from many institutions in American society in that it has to sell
products to the public in order to stay financially stable. As a means of doing so, the
media provides audiences with images that often satisfy their desires and meet their
expectations. Consequently, the inclusion of such stereotypes creates a vicious cycle

Operant Conditioning in the Criminal Justice System
July 12, 2015
Psychology plays a very important role in the field of criminal justice. It is needed
to help assess individuals who commit crimes, as well as, help to be a predictor of
criminal behavior. Utilizing theories such behaviorism and operant conditioning,
individual behavior is able to be assessed by the response to learning what actions
result in rewards and what actions result in punishment. As a result of how
individuals respond to rewards and punishment, learned behaviors have the possibility
to be deterred or corrected.

Operant conditioning applies to many areas in both everyday life and in the criminal
justice system. If you are late to work every day to work or you don t complete work
that is assigned to you than you can be demoted, have a decrease in pay or possibly
lose your job. All of these are consequences to behaviors that have been displayed
over time.
Applying operant conditioning to the criminal justice provides very useful
information. It helps in the development of laws and regulations as well as
determines reasons why individuals commit crimes. This theory can also, after study,
possibly be a predictive of individuals who commit crimes and also provide ideas on
how to deter criminal behavior.
Criminal Statutes
Criminal statutes are enacted by federal and local governments in order to deter
criminal behaviors and activities in order to protect citizens. Laws and statutes were
developed in order to ensure that citizens act in an appropriate manner or face the
consequences of their actions. They also reflect expectations of appropriate and
inappropriate behaviors that have been set for local, state, and federal governments.
Operant conditioning applies to the enactment of criminal statutes in many ways.
Society has been studied to determine what acceptable and unacceptable behaviors
are. As a result of these studies and the enactment of statutes, they have identified
those actions by citizens that are not desirable or dangerous

Lactose, also known as milk sugar, is a disaccharide found in the milk of most

Abstract: Nowadays for each and every designing in VLSI era the power
consumption plays a vital role. Low power has emerged as a principal theme in
today s electronics industry. The low power VLSI design has important role in
designing of many electronic design systems. On designing any combinational or
sequential circuits, the power consumption, implementation area, voltage leakage,
and efficiency of the circuit are the important parameters to be considered initially.
This paper proposes a low power and area efficient shift register using pulsed latches.
The area and power consumption are reduced by replacing flip flops with pulsed
latches. This method solves the timing problem between pulsed latches through the
use of multiple non overlap delayed pulsed clock signals instead of the conventional
single pulsed clock signal. The shift register uses a small number of the pulsed clock
signals by grouping the latches to several sub

seasons, but really these two seasons have nothing in common. Winter is the season
that has more activities and can do more of the summer activities making it better.
They have different clothing and different amounts of clothing, they both have
animals, but this is also different in each season, they have different foods and
different temperature of foods and they also have different activities that adapt to the
type of weather in these seasons.
The difference in clothing is a really big difference in types of cloths but also in the
amount of cloths. In the summer, people were cloths that are usually one layer at
most. These clothes usually consist of shorts and tank tops or t shirts. In the winter
people wear clothes that are a lot more heavily coated. In the winter people tend to
wear a t shirt underneath a sweater. This is because the winter can be warmer than
usual and that is when you take off your sweater. Then usually people wear a big,
big coats when it starts colder. When you get cold than you can always add layers.
In the summer you only can take off so many clothes. When kids go outside, then
they also will use their snow pants when they play in the snow. In the summer
people usually where there flip flops and other things like that which could also
include runners. In the winter people wear boots and this will keep your feet very
warm compared to what you would were in the summer.
All Quiet On The Western Front And Sun Also Rises...
Comparison between All Quiet on the Western Front and The Sun Also Rises
The two books, All Quiet on the Western Front and The Sun Also rises have a
number of differences and similarities. I will address the topics, characters, time
periods and writing styles along with my opinion on the two books. The topic of All
Quiet on the Western Frontdescribes how a German soldier and his friends, in the
middle of World War 1, deal with the stresses of the war and how the soldiers cope
with the conditions they are in and the deaths of comrades; these soldiers are also
friends. The book also conveys the stresses of coping with civilian life when
disconnected from the war. The topic of The Sun Also Rises deals with the stresses
that a woman goes through after losing her true love in the war. The themes are
different as the stories do not mirror each other as far as the plot goes. However,
they are similar in the fact that both stories touch on people managing life. I prefer
All Quiet on the Western Front because the author wrote the story from the
perspective of the soldier, Paul Baumer and the writing make you feel like ... Show

All Quiet on the Western Front, most of the main characters are friends who were
acquainted with each other before entering the war. The main character describes not
only his surroundings but also his feelings throughout the book. In The Sun Also
Rises, the characters are similar in the fact that they are also a group of friends.
Although there was a similarity, the characters feelings were not emphasized as
much. The author in All Quiet on the Western Front described the characters in
pronounced detail, in reading the book, I felt like I knew each character. In The Sun
Also Rises, it was difficult to relate to the characters as they all had different
backgrounds and their feelings going through the story were not as in depth. In
addition, the time periods had similarities and

There are three contemporary factors that continue to deprive the core principles of
our democracy. The elections seem to be more about winning the game than the
actual issues and ideals. Each factor plays a major influence on how the American
politics are run today. There has been many Amendments that have been published to
stop voter discrimination. A few are the fifteenth Amendment, in which it states, Race
no Bar to Vote. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied
or abridge by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous

Billions of dollars are spent each year in attempt to wow over the audience of
America. The money flows through the U.S. politics, Corporations, industry groups,
union labors, and single issued organizations in which all work together to attempt
the end goal of persuasion.
The precedent case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission has resulted in
fewer restrictions on campaign spending. The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act
regulates the big money campaigns (Citizens United v. Federal Election
Commission). The act limits and restricts electioneering communications (Citizens
United v. Federal Election Commission). From the article read from Ozey it states,
Section 203 of the BCRA prevents corporations or labor unions from funding such
communication from their general treasuries. Section 201 and 311 require the
disclosure of donors to such communication and a disclaimer when the
communication is not authorized by the candidate it intends to support (Citizens
United v. Federal Election Commission). In the current case the District court held
that The Movie was a representation on express advocacy, as it tried to persuade
voters that Senator Clinton was not the right fit to run for office (Citizens United v.
Federal Election Commission). The communication was not authorized nor supported
Clinton. The problem with putting restriction on campaign spending is in some cases

particular article has successfully galvanized the three core concepts of organizational
development. These include organizational climate, organizational culture and
organizational strategies. Organizational culture is concerned with the deeply
enshrined norms, values and characteristics that the members of the organization

the organization that includes the beliefs and attitudes that bear an influence upon the
members aggregate behavior. The organizational strategies deal with how the
organization identifies problems, negotiates change, plans action and makes an
evaluation of its progress. These concepts of organizational development as per the

Summary Of The Film Muriel s Wedding
The film Muriel s Wedding is set in the fictional town of Porpoise Spit, Australia
and follows the journey of self discovery of the young woman Muriel Heslopp. In
searching for marriage, the idea which she thinks will validate her as a person, she
finds herself. In the film, the character of Rhonda helped me to understand the
important message that friendship acts as a catalyst for self discovery. The director
PJ Hogan uses the techniques of music, cinematography and dialogue to help
communicate that idea.
The first technique, music, is used in mainly in the setting of Hibiscus Island, the
fictional honeymoon destination in which Muriel meets Rhonda for the first time
since Year 10. Muriel and Rhonda are performing in a talent show, with the song
Waterloo by ABBA. The song symbolises the real Muriel, who is present in this
scene. Rhonda encourages Muriel to be herself, confidently. This allows Muriel to
truly understand who she really is, the beginning of her journey of self discovery.
The music is particularly significant, with lyrics in the song such as knowing my
fate is to be with you which represents the friendship between Rhonda and Muriel.
The song Waterloo is significant as a whole too, because it s about a battle, which
symbolises the interior battle of Muriel between her true self and the self who
conforms to societies expectations. Rhonda singing the song with Muriel
foreshadows how Rhonda will help Muriel through her internal battle and help her
eventually reach self discovery.
The next technique, which is used in several different scenes is cinematography. In
the scene in which Muriel is trying on wedding dresses behind Rhonda s back,
cinematography is used to communicate the message that friendship acts as a
catalyst for self discovery. Just before Rhonda is about to leave for rehabilitation,
she enters Muriel s room and finds a photo album full of photographs of Muriel in
various wedding dresses. The next shot is and Extreme Close Up (XCU) on
Rhonda s confused face. Her face appears worried and quite puzzled as she tries to
figure out what was going on. This XCU shot shows how much Rhonda cares about
Muriel and the extent to which Rhonda cares about Muriel s wellbeing. Later in that
scene,
Romeo And Juliet Folly Quotes
Romeo and Juliet: Victims of Feud All teenagers have stupid ideas, especially in
the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. In the play, two star crossed lovers
meet, but there is a long standing family feud between the two. Romeo and Juliet
eventually meet and fall in love despite the families hating each other. Fate and
folly are major contributing factors, but it is feud that is most to blame for the star
crossed lovers death. First and foremost, the lovers Romeo and Juliet seemed
destined from the very beginning to a sad fate. For example, in the play s Prologue,
the two are described as Star crossed lovers (prologue.6), which implies that the two
lovers are doomed. While the two lovers have still yet to meet, they plan to attend the

In the beginning of the play it come clear that the two Star Crossed lovers are from
two conflicting families. For instance the prologue states Two households, both
alike in dignity (In fair Verona, where we lay our scene), From ancient grudge

This explains to us that the two families (The Montagues and Capulets) are of the
same social standing, and are in a uncivil family feud. Later in the story after
Romeo and Juliet have already met, Juliet cries out O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore
art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, or, if thou wilt not, be but
sworn my love, and I ll no longer be a Capulet. (2.2.36 39) Juliet is willing to give
up her family name to be with her love Romeo. After Romeo kills Tybalt, cousin of

different countries. Estimated results were 50 million to 85 million fatalities at
least 11 million people were killed. Not only the people but also other things were
missing with people died. However, people survived and became stronger. People
who survived from the tragic World War ll created new trend music named Bebop.

The most distinctive feature of bebop is that played by very small group. The
main instruments of bebop are trumpet and saxophone with rhythm section such as
piano, bass and drums. And there was informal Jam sessions that many musicians
are playing together without any practices or rehearsals so they could challenge
and learn each other. Bebop is still the most played song at jam sessions. Most of
all, African American invented bebop primarily. Later, Cool Jazz came up as a
new generation of Jazz after bebop from 1949 to 1955. The Cool Jazz means like
more comfortable and soft than bebop when bebop has a meaning of hot which
means very loud and exciting. Numbers of people in group raised up to nonets
(nine piece band). When bebop musicians were playing trumpet and saxophone
such as Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, Cool Jazz musicians had more numbers
of instruments to play even classical instruments were often found such as flute,
French horn and so on. Unlike bebop, importance of the arrangement and the
improvised solos are same when bebop cares improvised solo more than the
arrangement. Bebop and Cool Jazz each has very opposite meaning to each other
even locations are different. Bebop was associated with the East Coast when Cool
Jazz happened in West Coast especially in California. Historically, World War ll
had occurred during Cool Jazz era which made the mood of country very sad and
people had worries about the uncertainty of the future. This reflects Americans
attitudes to have subdued emotion and emotional self control in times of crisis

the feeling of complacency. My 10 week blog has given me a larger insight to the

business management but also about starting up a business of my own. Collectively,
my blogwas a learning experience about the businessworld and all it has to offer. If I
could tie together all of the knowledge I have gained from my blog and research I
would categorize it as motivation and risk. With an unmotivated attitude you aren t
capable of taking the necessary risks that are pertinent to the field of business.
With a field that is based on getting out what you put in there is minimal room for a
lack of enthusiasm but rather requires self propelled success. You are the exact
determinate to your success or failure when getting yourself involved. I have
learned that being successful in business relates a lot to what type of person you
are. With something as risky as trying to start up a business, as an individual, you
must be willing to take on any risk. Your personality comes into play with business
as well because of the connections that must be built to insure cushion for your

Environmental Policy Of Vietnam s National Parks
Vietnam is home to 10% of the world s mammal, bird, and fish species, and over
40% of local plant species are endemic (IUCN, 1999). However, accelerated
deforestation, habitat loss and illegal poaching (TRAFFIC, 2005) has led to the rapid
depletion of endangered animals, such that Vietnam has become one of 10 countries
suffering from a remarkable biodiversityreduction (VNN, 1999). As such,
biodiversity conservation has become an important policy device in Vietnam s
environmental sector (Zingerli, 2005). Conservation practices and priorities have
changed over time in response to changing societal needs (Vasseur Hart, 2002).
Likewise, Vietnam has taken various approaches to conservation since its 1986
renovation policy of doi moi. In this essay, we will be reviewing the effectiveness of
current approaches of a community based approach to conservation in resettlement
projects conducted in Vietnam s national parks.
Community based Conservation
Community based conservation refers to turning more human beings into
conservationist (Robert et al., 2012) such that locals can form networks with each
other, community based organisation, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and
government agencies for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems (Robert et
al., 2012). It creates a stake for local communities in conserving resources (Brown,
1998) such that the interests of conservation and development can be simultaneously
achieved (Berkes, 2004).

Pros And Cons Of Nativism
The United States is no stranger to nationalism. Often, as citizens of the U.S. there is
a social pressure to celebrate our nation and show confidence in its abilities and its
traditions. There is nothing wrong with such a belief. I would even argue a cultural
identity rooted in nationalism is healthy. However, in recent years in the United States
, this nationalism has began to evolve into a more dangerous social notion;
nativism. This is a belief that the US should only protect the interests of those who
are native to the U.S., leading to exclusionary policies and even forms of racism.
Many of these beliefs are rooted in fear that have been stirred by a series of social
movements lead by some on the political right. This is seen very prominently... Show

For example, he discusses the common place fear that English is losing ground to
other languages in the United States. Despite the inaccuracy of this view, these types
of fears give way to nativist beliefs and discriminatory practices. Crawford discusses
later on the way that many believe we should best teach immigrant students English.
Many believe in a total immersion method which would remove classroom instruction
time and force students to learn the language independently. In reality this is a lazy,
neglectful practice with no basis in reality. Students who are coming from other
countries and are forced to adapt at a young age to a completely new culture are under
an immense amount of stress. To throw these students into classrooms with fluent
speakers with teachers who may not know their mother tongue, nor have the time to
teach them English will only have negative effects in their development. The best
way to support language acquisition in young students is to create a supportive
environment where they can focus on learning the language and not the stress of not
knowing
Dichotomy Of Happiness Essay

How to achieve happiness each type of happiness.
b.Intro Paragraph: Happiness can be best described as the end goal of life. If a person
is living a life void of happiness, they are often times seen as worse off, and most
likely are. One who lives their life in search of amassing happiness may be doing it
for their own happiness, or for the betterment of someone else; either way someone
is living in order to achieve happiness. Even from a young age people act in ways
that allot them happiness, such as a young child eating their favorite type of snack or

c.The second type is long lasting, involves content for one s life. Maslow s hierarchy
of needs introduces the belief that in order to achieve happiness underlying
precautions must be met. This furthers the idea that a higher and more important
happiness exists than the first type. Annas also seems to understand the dichotomy
and references the idea of a higher happiness.
III.Second Argument: Happiness can be achieved. Each type of happiness requires
different actions in order to be achieved. Both types can exist at the same time, and
some actions may cause both types to occur, but a fundamental difference remains.
(They are not different types because of how they are achieved, but rather the feeling
(s) they offer. Since they are different they often times require different actions)
a.The first type of happiness can be achieved through simple actions being happy is
easily taken to be feeling happy...a kind of smiley face feeling. Annas pg. 45
b.The second type requires more moral work. If happiness, then, is activity
expressing virtue, it is reasonable for it to express the supreme virtue, which will be
the virtue of the best thing...Hence complete happiness will be its activity expressing
its proper virtue; and we have said that this activity is the activity of study. Aristotle

When founder Fred Smith was in college, he wrote a paper that outlined a system that would deliver time sensitive items quickly (fedex.com). Business and theEconomy Business and the Economy 1. Business is one of the principal elements fueling the economy and the way that functions reflects on society as a whole. Businesses are responsible for the creation of a competitive market and it is only safe to say that they make it possible for a community to achieve economic progress. Individuals in a competitive environment feel pressured to act as effectively as possible and they are thus enabled to put across behavior that contributes to the wellbeing of the economy. Even with the fact that businesses are not exactly meant to cause a great deal of social benefits, they are nonetheless essential in keeping the economy alive. Although it would be absurd to claim that businesses has a moral role in society, one can claim that it is one of the most important tools assisting people achieve progress. Many people experience stress as a result of their involvement in the economy, as they are unable to keep up with the fact that it is constantly growing and they end up being unable to sustain themselves. 2. In spite of the fact that people generally focus on public and private entities when they think about the economy, nonprofit organizations are also an important actor in the economy. Public institutions are in charge of producing goods and services that are generally considered to be wanted by everyone. Private agencies focus on providing people with personalized goods and services and are largely dependent on market competition in order to

He states in the poem that Twere profanation of our joys / to tell the laity of our love , Donne is saying that it would be disrespectful to even attempt to let the common people know about their love, because that s how special it is. No matter how hard they they try to explain it, no one would understand it, because their love is simply that ethereal. Donne then goes on to say that, Moving of th earth brings harms and fears / Men reckon what it did and meant / But trepidation of the spheres / Though greater far, is innocent. Donne seems to be comparing other loves to earthquakes in that the shaking of the earth, similar to the rough patches in relationships, could be the end of them. They are fragile and unstable, easily destroyed. However, Donne s relationship is so strong, nothing, not even distance, can shake it. To further prove this point, Donne explains that Dull sublunary lover s love / (Whose soulis sense) can not admit / Absence, because it doth remove / those things which elemented it. In this, he s insinuating that the love from those who are grounded on earth under the moon is malleable and weak, and that something like distance can destroy their relationship. Once again, Donne uses this type of metaphor to exaggerate the point that his love is otherworldly as compared to everyone else s. Throughout the entirety of the poem, John Donne reiterates the point that he and his lover share a soul. For example, he states at separate times, Our two souls therefore, which are one, and If they be two, they are two so, again in reference to their souls. Donne refers to him and his love as inter assured, implying that their souls are one, and no distance, no matter how far, will affect their bond. Similar to Donne, Anne Bradstreet also faces a separation from her lover, and expresses her emotions in a poem entitled, A Letter to Her Husband, Absent upon Public Employment . Bradstreet s husband was a governor for the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and therefore was away for business much of the

Analysis Of NarrativeOf The Life Of Frederick Douglass Reid Champlin Mrs. Stack AP English, Period 7 14 August 2015 In His Own Words: Analysis of The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass They say that one can never fully understand a situation until he/she is put into that scenario themselves. Too often, history is written by those who have only read and researched the issues, remaining distant and objective to get all the facts straight. While there is honor in this approach, one cannot experience the horror of war, the thrill of victory, or the reality of a situation if written from a third person perspective. No, history is best told by those who have participated in it: the soldiers who crawled through the muddy trenches, the revelers who celebrated the great national victory, or the people who did not witness history, but made it. Particularly on the issue of slavery, copious amounts of writing exist on both the pro slavery and anti slavery side from scholars, politicians, and citizens supporting their views, but very little exists from the perspective of slaves and former slaves. This in part is what makes The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an autobiography of former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass, so incredible and valuable to the American audience. Speaking with authority as one who has experienced slavery firsthand, the self educated Douglass exquisitely manipulates a bevy of literary devices, such as setting, writing style, and allegory, to illustrate the horrors of slavery and form a

This scene conveys the smaller scale version of a much larger scale event and genocide. This scene depicts the overall systematic approach at a genocide of the larger scale event of World War II. Human rightsthat were violated from this scene are; Article 5 which states that no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment this Act was violated in this scene because the punishment for small things such as tying your shoe or taking a small rest after working all day would be death. My Dream OfA Baseball Dream On Returning: A baseball dream I am on my way to the New England Baseball Complex in Manchester. It is early August, and the end of the regular season. It has been an unusually lengthy season and I am ready for it to be finally over. I have traveled all over New England and have visited many different states. Baseball is my first sport, the sport I focus on the most throughout the year. Baseball has always been my favorite sport ever since I was little. My dad taught me to play when I was around 6 and I have played extensively every year since. I looked up to my brother a lot growing up and I remember playing with him when I got home from school. My family was always there for me and always was around to help me do what I wanted to do. It has been my goal to play in college and get a scholarship. This summer I took my first step toward reaching that goal by competing in many tournaments where I can get exposure to the colleges. This tournament had many college coaches from across New England. There are a lot of good teams and players and it was important to stand out to the coaches. The last 2 games we had were a double header and I had to catch both games in 100 degree weather. I did it because it was something I could do to show toughness and standout. We lost the first gameand won the second game. We made the playoffsand are seeded in 4th. It is the playoff game of the tournament. We played really good so far going 3 1 0 on the weekend. I was doing alright throughout

Pop Culture AndGender Stereotypes How does pop culture perpetuate gender stereotypes? Popular culture is a broad perspective of how society is perceived today. It plays a major role especially in our youth, paints an image of how one should look, act, or perceive the world and their surroundings; also persuading a group of individuals into accepting and pursuing a financial way of living. Pop cultureis involved in our everyday life whether we are aware or not, from watching television, listening to the radio, or even surfing the internet, it s always here. Society tends to minimize what effect Pop has negatively. The internet, one of the most influential to keep up with Pop culture, television shows has influenced genderstereotypes in a way that it reinforces that men should be the dominant gender and women should dress and act a certain way to be successful. Popular culture inspires youth the desire to be what they see in the media. Parents feel the need to bring up their offspring in the utmost sophisticate way, though obliviously allowing television to develop their understanding. Filled with fairy tales featuring Princesses, heroes, and magics, these popular mythical characters have become a major influence on younger children especially little girls. They imagine becoming princesses hoping that one day they will be swept away by their Prince Charming. As they progress in age, young girls begin to watch sitcoms portraying how they should look, feel, and dress. In today s time, popular culture is interpellated as to how the process of growing fast is eminent. From baby girl to princess, from a princess to a young lady; all categorized by age groups. Male characters are often portrayed to be a prince or a hero of such. Boys are usually identified as the prince start as an adolescence swiftly growing into a young adult. According to Stephanie Hanes, parents are having a hard time dealing with it, they say that things they used to do aren t working; they say they re losing control of what happens to their girls at younger ages. (pp 511) Pop culture creates an image of how women should resemble themselves from the beginning of childhood to the age of accountability by means of dolls, animated characters, and kids digital games promoting

The Viability OfCarbon Capture And Storage 774394 9 November 2017 The Viability of Carbon Capture and Storage From UK Power Stations The UK s Climate Change Act and participation in the Paris Agreement, has been put into place to ensure the UK plays its part in reducing the emission of greenhouse gasses into our environment. The UK, in particular, has committed to reducing its emissions to 80% of 1990 levels by 2050 and must adhere to strict self set Carbon Budgets until 2030. In order to meet targets set by the Paris agreement, by 2070 there must be no anthropogenic CO2 input, thus we need to actively remove CO2 from the atmosphere, a more common term for this is negative emissions (James R, 2017). There are several ways of going about this, in this essay we will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this essay, three main issues are brought forward and analysed in order to make a conclusion on the viability of carbon capture for UK power stations, these issues are; Cost, CCS Technologies, and Storage. The aim of this paragraph is to analyse the costs involved with the implementation of CCS technologies in UK power plants. It is estimated that in the UK, CCS could cost every household up to 10% more per year for electricity (Haszeldine, R.2009) however this cost is predicted to reduce the necessary costs of CO2 removal in 2050 by a factor of 10, which will likely save the country more money in the long run. The greatest cost to the UK when discussing the implementation of CCS technology in UK power stations is carbon capture. Table 1 Summary of reported CO2 emissions and costs for a new electric power plant with and without CO2 capture based on current technology (excluding CO2 transport and storage costs) (Rubin, E, et al, 2007) Costs in constant US$2002 (IPCC, 2005). The Rock TowersOn Her Property Like the defendant in Moore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment as a matter of law in this action, because she could not have known or realized that the rock towers on her property would pose an unreasonable risk of death or serious bodily injury to Maria. Herrera s private property is located in a remote location in Arizona where she allows adults to view her land art by appointment only. It is reasonably understandable that Herrera does not like uninvited or unwanted individuals on her property at anytime. Moreover, since the land art was for adults only to view, she never allowed children on her property to view her land art. As a result, no injuries were ever reported from the adults who visited and viewed her land art.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, however, this argument ignores the fact that Herrera fulfilled her duty as a landowner to not willfully or wantonly injure a trespasser, such as Maria. To the contrary, Herrera took appropriate measures to ensure the safely of adults and children by enforcing restrictions to safeguard her guest and the land art on her property. Therefore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment because she could not have known or realized that the rock towers on her property would pose an unreasonable risk of death or serious bodily injury to Maria. II. HERRERA S MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGEMENT SHOULD BE GRANTED BECAUSE MARIA WAS OF AGE AND EXPERIENCE TO APPRECIATE THE CLEAR DANGER OF FALLING ON THE ROCKS, GIVEN THAT SHE WAS 11 YEARS OLD AND REALIZED THE DANGER OF FALLING BEFORE SHE FELL BUT CHOSE TO CONSCIENTIOUSLY DISREGARD THAT DANGER. To hold a landowner liable for physical harm to trespassing children, a plaintiff must prove that children, because of their youth, do not discover or realize the risk involved in intermeddling with it or in coming within the area made dangerous by it. Unfortunately, the odds are not good for change. Research by John Kotter revealed that only thirty percent of change programs succeed. The main reasons for the failures are not related to resources or budgets, but behavior and more specifically, employee resistance and managementbehaviors that do not support the intended changes. These are the two leading causes that result in seventy percent of failures. Kotter first reported on this dismal success rate back in 1995, and quite honestly, there has been little progress at advancing the success of

Civil Rights MovementSongs Musicians tend to compose music based on the struggles they experience in their daily life. The Civil Rights Movement era is a perfect example of this, African Americans were fighting for their basic human rights, to be equal, and to be free. Many would express their feelings through different types of mediums, usually music. Five artists, I found to do this were Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Nina Simone. Their music became anthems of the movement and gave hope and power their listeners. These artists have become icons of the movement with their powerful words. With his soulful voice and good looks, Sam Cooke is a great example of a musician who used their music to support the Civil Right Movement. He uses a wide selection of various types of instruments to portray the different emotion the movement came with. One of his most legendary songs for the movement, released in 1964 was A Change Is Gonna Come . The song voices hardships that black men experienced in America during the 60 s. Being that Cooke grew up with little money he adds his own struggle in the song, hence the born by the river in a little tent he stays confident that change is gonna come. His song talks about how African Americans are not able to enjoy normal everyday things like walking down the street or going to the movies without that constant fear over their shoulders of getting in trouble. One of the main meanings of this song according to musiqology.com is how blacks are

This stance could not have been brought out in no other better way than the way Connelly heightened the Guatemalan Civil War in from Three Dirges . The war hailed out as the most daunting stances that have ever taken place on the global realm. It is deemed to have lasted for over 36 centuries, primarily stemming from the battles between rural poor people and the Guatemalan government. Notably, Connelly posits that this war inflicted pain, hatred, and destitution in the lives of the Guatemala citizens. Besides, the author brings forth the cruelty and uncertainty that always daunt the war periods, either before or after. Notably, it shows how the North American Indians were being treated during the 18th and 19th centuries by the people. Everyone was scared of helping out the Indians since it was known that once your caught helping them in any way you die. They were mistreated, and they were not even entitled to an education, and they were left to live like the lower dumb individual class. Further, they were not taught how to write and read since the whites thought they might learn and run away yet they wanted to use them as slaves. This mistreatment and other things sparked the civil war that happened in Guatemalan that Marshall Bennett Connelly talks about in the Three Dirge. Therefore, it is prudent that all societal realms learn from such a debacle and embrace peace in all their

Previously, DSM IV used a 18 item list to determine presence of symptoms with the presence of 6 or more, having persisted at least 6 months being the criteria for diagnosis (DSM IV, 1994). DSM V has retained this 18 item list, but has lowered the threshold for requirement in those over the age of 17 from 6 to 5 (DSM V, 2013). The new changes are also reflected in an increase of age of onset criteria from 7 years to 12 years (DSM V, 2013). Gold Rush Women Assessmentsof the California Gold Rush often apply to a romantic gloss, suggesting that the colorful Days of 49 were a brief , exciting interlude in an otherwise orderly narrative. The Gold Rush was romantic, brief, and exciting, but it was much more than that. During the 19th century California seemed like a paradise for both men and women looking to escape the East coast in search of a new life and opportunity. Many men and women took the opportunity to escape from the west coast to start a new life at the booming industry in California. Many of these travelers were successful in their new adventure while others were not, however it was different for women from different ethnic backgrounds who suffered a inhumane fortune due to the imbalanced gender difference present in California. The culture found in California during the gold rush provides different perspective on the treatment of women and how the standards of sexuality were less important in the United States. To begin with, while the Native women and Chinese women were being mistreated, in contrary, the White women of higher class were often considered the most complimentary for marriage. These women were chosen by many men, they received numerous gifts and pleasant treatment. However, on the other hand, Minority women were particularly Indian and Chinese, they had a much different unfortunate experiences during the gold rush. Native Americans and Chinese women were often forced into prostitution around the gold

The Effects OfAlcoholism In The Dubliners By James Joyce Alcoholism has caused many struggles for the Irish people throughout their history. One writer who chose to include the rampant alcoholism of Ireland in his stories is James Joyce. Joyce wrote a collection of short stories, The Dubliners. These short stories take place in Dublin, Ireland. One common theme in all of these stories is the suffering the characters go through. Another theme in all of the stories is alcoholism. Most of his stories feature a character who is an alcoholic. The alcoholic tends to create problems for the people around him. By using alcoholics to further the plots of his stories, James Joyce pins the blame for Irish suffering on alcohol. Alcohol appears to play a large part in the Irish lifestyle. According to one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2010, it was reported that Irish people drank 11.4 litres of pure alcohol per capita ( Global status report on alcohol and health 2014. ). This statistic was collected by surveying the drinking habits of people above the age of 15 who lived in Ireland. However, the averages change depending on which group is analyzed. Among only drinkers, the average alcohol consumption rises from 11.4 litres to 14.7 litres. The statistics change even more depending on gender. The average Irish male consumes about 19.8 litres of pure alcohol a year while the average Irish female consumes about only 9.3 litres of pure alcohol a year ( Global status report on alcohol and health 2014. ). According to these statistics, it is much more likely for a male to pe a problem drinker or an alcoholic than a female. Male alcoholism is also very prevalent in Joyce s writings. In Araby, there is a male alcoholic that causes problems for a little boy, causing him to be late to visit a bazaar. In Eveline, there is an alcoholic father that beats his daughter and causes issues for his other younger children. In The Dead, there is a drunken male party guest that every other partygoer has to keep track of and watch for. In The Boarding House, there is a drunken husband that forces his wife and their child out of their house because of his drunken rampages. Shapiro Brothers ConcertReport The band that I went to see was the Shapiro Brothers. The band consists of two siblings, which includes a singer and a powerful guitarist. The lead singer is a female and the lead guitarist is a male. The concert/live music took place at the Louisiana Jazz Kitchen (Kansas City, Mo), which is a restaurant that is based off Louisiana soul food. I am a regular customer at this restaurant, therefore I am familiar with the bands that come to give a show, expect the Shapiro Brothers. Unfortunately, I know little about the band and their musicbut they did give an amazing show, due to their soothing and unique music. As stated before, Louisiana JazzKitchen is one of my favorite restaurants, and the atmosphere can be very overwhelming. The restaurant located in Kansas City, MO is fairly small and compact, which causes the sound of the music to become entirely too loud. The bands that come to perform live music, are situated in small corner or nook of the restaurant.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although, it is fairly small, that did not hinder the crowd of enjoying the performance by the Shapiro Brothers. There was not much dancing from the audience, due to it possibly being extremely uncomfortable. However, there was a numerous amount of head nodding and individuals harmonizing with the band. Some of the audience members wanted to be heard by the band, and some showed their love for the band by lip syncing. After each song, the audience would fill the restaurant with loud clapping and hoot and hollering. Overall, majority of the crowd were proud followers of the Shapiro Brothers. In which, led me to believe that the band was no stranger to performing at JAZZ. Fortunately, my assumption was correct. Once the band finished their performance, employees announced via microphone, the Shapiro Brothers perform every 3rd Thursday of each month at 7p.m. Therefore, the audience that usually attends are regulars and diehard

This Way forthe Gas, Ladies Gentlemen The sole factor that separated Tadeusz Borowski from the gas chambers when he was at Auschwitz beyond the fact that he wasn t Jewish was his cooperation with the S.S. soldiers. He assisted the Nazis in eliminating thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen ultimately uses the narrator to convey Borowski s message of what really happened during the Holocaust . This also explains why the story is in first person: it reflects the author s own experiences. Borowski s writing is quite crude: harsh yet realistic. Readers cannot judge Borowski negatively; he was as much of a victim as the people coming off the transports. Throughout This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen, Borowski portrays the... His own question What will the world know of us if the Germans win? allowed him to fight through the struggle in the hopes of getting out alive one day and sharing the truth with the world; it would be the only way the truth emerged (Charters 150). What may seem immoral to people outside the camps is ordinary to those inside as proven by Henri s actions in the story. Ultimately, though, the two worlds are incomparable. Due to his need to collaborate with the S.S. soldiers in order to keep himself alive, many may consider that Borowski indeed played a huge part in the deaths of thousands of people when he could have taken a more noble route self immolation as the girl did in the story. This is hindsight bias, however, and does not take into account the terror that filled the prisoners. In a hope to see life beyond imprisonment, anyone would take part in this process. The survival of the fittest theory created by Charles Darwin analyzes organisms behavior towards one another and their environment to see who will thrive. In concentration camps such as Auschwitz, the only method of survival was assisting the S.S. soldiers if one was not already sentenced to death by default. Culture Vs AmericanCulture I can vividly recall one warm summer night in Dallas,Texas when my entire family and I were huddled around a tiny 27 inch television. We were anxiously watching one of the most infamous rivalries in sport: India versus Pakistan. I did not quite understand what was happening in the match, but judging by the anxious look on my family s faces, I could tell that the game was very close and intense. I remember my dad and uncles talking about strategies Pakistanshould use to win, debating back and forth on what would be the best move. Unfortunately, moments later, everybody went quiet, as only sighs and groans filled the room. Pakistan had just lost. Seeing the somber faces around the room, I realized how important cricket was to my family, and how it was a pivotal aspect of their collective identity; how a simple sporting match was able to bring people together,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A part of that has to do with learning the varying differences between Pakistani and American culture. For example, while most children were watching cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants or simply American sports, I remember watching Cricket (the most popular sport in Pakistan) and a South Asian crime drama, called CID . While some of my friends would have meatloaf for dinner, I would have Pakistani dishes like Nihari and Biryani. I communicated with my parents almost exclusively in Urdu, the official language of Pakistan. And while most of my friends would go to a church in a suit and tie, I would go to a mosque, wearing a traditional Pakistani outfit, known as a Shalwar Kurta . Pakistani and American cultures differ in many ways, and it is by experiencing both of these cultures simultaneously, and effectively assimilating into American society, that had an integral role in shaping the person that I have become today, not only in terms of my personality but also in the way I live my

Truman Doctrine Essay Trumanhad no foreign policy experience but now as the Commander and Chief he was faced with ending the war. During his first six months in office Truman announced the surrender of the Nazi Germans. After their surrender the United Nations Charter was signed. The United Nations Charter was the treaty between the Allies and the Nazi Germans. Truman still had one other problem to deal with and that was the possibility of an attack by the Japanese. Truman approved of the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which forced the Japanese to also surrender. The bombing and the signing of the United Nations Charter marked the end of WWII. After the war a new problem fell onto the president. When one looks at how the media continues to communicate certain messages to the American public, it is remarkable how some trends have continued for decades. This is particularly true concerning images and graphics and the subtle messages that they carry in the world of print communications. The unfortunate reality is that the media is no different from many institutions in American society in that it has to sell products to the public in order to stay financially stable. As a means of doing so, the media provides audiences with images that often satisfy their desires and meet their expectations. Low power has emerged as a principal theme in today s electronics industry. The low power VLSI design has important role in designing of many electronic design systems. On designing any combinational or sequential circuits, the power consumption, implementation area, voltage leakage, and efficiency of the circuit are the important parameters to be considered initially. This paper proposes a low power and area efficient shift register using pulsed latches. The area and power consumption are reduced by replacing flip flops with pulsed latches. This method solves the timing problem between pulsed latches through the use of multiple non overlap delayed pulsed clock signals instead of the conventional single pulsed clock signal. The shift register uses a small number of the pulsed clock signals by grouping the latches to several sub

These clothes usually consist of shorts and tank tops or t shirts. In the winter people wear clothes that are a lot more heavily coated. In the winter people tend to wear a t shirt underneath a sweater. This is because the winter can be warmer than usual and that is when you take off your sweater. Then usually people wear a big, big coats when it starts colder. When you get cold than you can always add layers. In the summer you only can take off so many clothes. In the summer people usually where there flip flops and other things like that which could also include runners. In the winter people wear boots and this will keep your feet very warm compared to what you would were in the summer.

Comparison between All Quiet on the Western Front and The Sun Also Rises The two books, All Quiet on the Western Front and The Sun Also rises have a number of differences and similarities. The book also conveys the stresses of coping with civilian life when disconnected from the war. The themes are different as the stories do not mirror each other as far as the plot goes. However, they are similar in the fact that both stories touch on people managing life. Summary Of TheFilm Muriel s Wedding The film Muriel s Wedding is set in the fictional town of Porpoise Spit, Australia and follows the journey of self discovery of the young woman Muriel Heslopp. In searching for marriage, the idea which she thinks will validate her as a person, she finds herself. In the film, the character of Rhonda helped me to understand the important message that friendship acts as a catalyst for self discovery. The director PJ Hogan uses the techniques of music, cinematography and dialogue to help communicate that idea. The first technique, music, is used in mainly in the setting of Hibiscus Island, the fictional honeymoon destination in which Muriel meets Rhonda for the first time since Year 10. Muriel and Rhonda are performing in a talent show, with the song Waterloo by ABBA. The song symbolises the real Muriel, who is present in this scene. Rhonda encourages Muriel to be herself, confidently. This allows Muriel to truly understand who she really is, the beginning of her journey of self discovery. The music is particularly significant, with lyrics in the song such as knowing my fate is to be with you which represents the friendship between Rhonda and Muriel. The song Waterloo is significant as a whole too, because it s about a battle, which symbolises the interior battle of Muriel between her true self and the self who conforms to societies expectations. Rhonda singing the song with Muriel foreshadows how Rhonda will help Muriel through her internal battle and help her eventually reach self discovery. The next technique, which is used in several different scenes is cinematography. In the scene in which Muriel is trying on wedding dresses behind Rhonda s back, cinematography is used to communicate the message that friendship acts as a catalyst for self discovery. Just before Rhonda is about to leave for rehabilitation, she enters Muriel s room and finds a photo album full of photographs of Muriel in various wedding dresses. The next shot is and Extreme Close Up (XCU) on Rhonda s confused face. Her face appears worried and quite puzzled as she tries to figure out what was going on. This XCU shot shows how much Rhonda cares about Muriel and the extent to which Rhonda cares about Muriel s wellbeing. Later in that scene,

Blog of noComplacency in Business If there is one thing to stray from when involving yourself in business operations, is the feeling of complacency. My 10 week blog has given me a larger insight to the possibilities and expectations of business management. Not only did I blog about business management but also about starting up a business of my own. Collectively, my blogwas a learning experience about the businessworld and all it has to offer. If I could tie together all of the knowledge I have gained from my blog and research I would categorize it as motivation and risk. With an unmotivated attitude you aren t capable of taking the necessary risks that are pertinent to the field of business. With a field that is based on getting out what you put in there is minimal room for a lack of enthusiasm but rather requires self propelled success. You are the exact determinate to your success or failure when getting yourself involved. I have learned that being successful in business relates a lot to what type of person you are. With something as risky as trying to start up a business, as an individual, you must be willing to take on any risk. Your personality comes into play with business as well because of the connections that must be built to insure cushion for your business. Environmental Policy OfVietnam s National Parks Vietnam is home to 10% of the world s mammal, bird, and fish species, and over 40% of local plant species are endemic (IUCN, 1999). However, accelerated deforestation, habitat loss and illegal poaching (TRAFFIC, 2005) has led to the rapid depletion of endangered animals, such that Vietnam has become one of 10 countries suffering from a remarkable biodiversityreduction (VNN, 1999). As such, biodiversity conservation has become an important policy device in Vietnam s environmental sector (Zingerli, 2005). Conservation practices and priorities have changed over time in response to changing societal needs (Vasseur Hart, 2002). Likewise, Vietnam has taken various approaches to conservation since its 1986 renovation policy of doi moi. In this essay, we will be reviewing the effectiveness of current approaches of a community based approach to conservation in resettlement projects conducted in Vietnam s national parks. Community based Conservation Community based conservation refers to turning more human beings into conservationist (Robert et al., 2012) such that locals can form networks with each other, community based organisation, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and government agencies for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems (Robert et al., 2012). Pros And ConsOf Nativism The United States is no stranger to nationalism. Often, as citizens of the U.S. there is a social pressure to celebrate our nation and show confidence in its abilities and its traditions. There is nothing wrong with such a belief. I would even argue a cultural identity rooted in nationalism is healthy. However, in recent years in the United States , this nationalism has began to evolve into a more dangerous social notion; nativism. This is a belief that the US should only protect the interests of those who are native to the U.S., leading to exclusionary policies and even forms of racism. Many of these beliefs are rooted in fear that have been stirred by a series of social movements lead by some on the political right. This is seen very prominently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, he discusses the common place fear that English is losing ground to other languages in the United States. Despite the inaccuracy of this view, these types of fears give way to nativist beliefs and discriminatory practices. Crawford discusses later on the way that many believe we should best teach immigrant students English. Many believe in a total immersion method which would remove classroom instruction time and force students to learn the language independently. In reality this is a lazy, neglectful practice with no basis in reality. Students who are coming from other countries and are forced to adapt at a young age to a completely new culture are under an immense amount of stress. To throw these students into classrooms with fluent speakers with teachers who may not know their mother tongue, nor have the time to teach them English will only have negative effects in their development. The best way to support language acquisition in young students is to create a supportive environment where they can focus on learning the language and not the stress of not knowing

Dichotomy Of HappinessEssay I.Introduction: a.Main Topic: The dichotomy of happiness; two different feelings and their impacts; How to achieve happiness each type of happiness. b.Intro Paragraph: Happiness can be best described as the end goal of life. If a person is living a life void of happiness, they are often times seen as worse off, and most likely are. One who lives their life in search of amassing happiness may be doing it for their own happiness, or for the betterment of someone else; either way someone is living in order to achieve happiness. Even from a young age people act in ways that allot them happiness, such as a young child eating their favorite type of snack or candy, a person taking up a hobby, or someone who consistently adds to a retirement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... c.The second type is long lasting, involves content for one s life. Maslow s hierarchy of needs introduces the belief that in order to achieve happiness underlying precautions must be met. This furthers the idea that a higher and more important happiness exists than the first type. Annas also seems to understand the dichotomy and references the idea of a higher happiness. III.Second Argument: Happiness can be achieved. Each type of happiness requires different actions in order to be achieved. Both types can exist at the same time, and some actions may cause both types to occur, but a fundamental difference remains. (They are not different types because of how they are achieved, but rather the feeling (s) they offer. Since they are different they often times require different actions) a.The first type of happiness can be achieved through simple actions being happy is easily taken to be feeling happy...a kind of smiley face feeling. Annas pg. 45 b.The second type requires more moral work. If happiness, then, is activity expressing virtue, it is reasonable for it to express the supreme virtue, which will be the virtue of the best thing...Hence complete happiness will be its activity expressing its proper virtue; and we have said that this activity is the activity of study. Aristotle N.E. Book 10 pg 339. IV.Third Argument: Once
