This document proposes a traffic simulation system for Sylhet to address traffic congestion issues. It identifies several major problems causing congestion in Sylhet, including improper lane management, encroachment of roads, improper enforcement of traffic rules, lack of coordination between regulatory authorities, poor transportation infrastructure planning, and availability of rickshaws without route restrictions. The proposal suggests solutions like using fences in major turning points to prevent parking and shops, better coordination of traffic light timing, delineating lanes by vehicle size and speed, and adding lanes where possible. It provides before and after illustrations of how these solutions could help at congested locations in Sylhet like Ambor Khana, Subid Bazar, Chowhatta Point, and R

2. Introduction
 Traffic congestion is one of many serious global problems in both
developed and developing countries.
 One of the most challenging and complicated issues in city
management in the present decade for Bangladesh is the traffic
problem. It is a very common phenomenon in almost all the cities of
Bangladesh.
 Road traffic congestion is a major cause of time killing and increasing
of congestion cost.
 Globally about million dollars are wasting for traffic congestion
purpose.
 Rapid growth in population, motorization and urbanization causing a
serious challenge for transportation management of congestion and
road safety.

3. Justification
In our daily travel time we face traffic congestion. Most of
the time it occurs at evening. When the truck enter the
city-

4.  Improper lane management
The road become narrow for parking vehicle in major
turning point

5.  Encroachment of roads and sidewalks
• Many mobile shop & bazar setup on major turning
& roads

6.  Improper Implementation of Traffic Rules
The CNG & Rickshaw’s make reckless turning point.

7.  Lack of integration among regulatory authorities
 There is no time combination between the jointed
signals.

8.  Poor Transportation and Infrastructure Planning
There is no sub-lane divider according to vehicle
size & speed

9.  The roads become narrow for unusual practices

10.  Availability of rickshaw
In Sylhet there is no restriction on route of the
rickshaw.

11. Proposal –A solution
Using a fence : using a fence in major turning point. That
prevent to parking vehicle and temporary shop in major
turning point , and prevent a street passer throw the
road junction .
Time management : insure the combination of time in
joined turning point.
Make sub lane : In every turning point make sub lane in
every lane according to the vehicle size and speed.
Add a lane if possible : Add a lean if possible like Subid
bazar point
