INTRODUCTION
In today’s world, the success of a city depends on its
economy, which in turn is dependent on the infrastructure,
among other things. The importance of the infrastructure and
maintenance can be particularly felt by the citizens of Dhaka
in its traffic system, as its congestion reminds us of the
negative effects of traffic jam and how important it is to have a
good Traffic system.
What is Traffic Jam?
Traffic Jam is a situation in
which a long line of vehicles
on a road have stopped
moving or are moving very
slowly.

Effects of Traffic Problem
in Dhaka City
• Hampers valuable times: In this mega city, people on an average spend 2.30 hours in the
roads, and from that time, average 1.15 hours are due to traffic jam. It means they are
loosing 1.15 hours everyday due to traffic jam. More than 1000 million passengers travel
by road everyday, worldwide. If a passenger lose 1 minute everyday in traffic jam, total
annual time loss is –7000,000 (7 lac) YEARS !!
• Hearing Loss: Too Much loud horns of the vehicles damage our hearing capability which
may occurs brain stroke, high blood pressure etc.

Let’s Do a Simple Math
• Physical & Mental Stress: Traffic Jam hampers our physical & mental condition. Often we lose our control
over temper and misbehave with close ones because of mental pressure, which occurs for traffic jam. Also
we feel very tired because of waiting in the road due to traffic jam.
• Economic Loss: Due to this traffic jam, around 19 million working hours are being lost daily in Bangladesh
which adversely affects the country’s economy. 6 to 10 percent of the country’s GDP is lost every year due to
traffic jam.

Solution of the
Traffic Jam Problem
• Progressment of the Public Transportation
• The practice of Dhaka Centric Corporate & Industrial establishment should be changed.
Can be moved to other divisions or districts.
• Garments & Other Industrial Institutions can be moved to other districts
• Investing in Road Infrastructure & maintenance.
• Odd-Even Number Plate Theory for private cars.
Solution of the
Traffic Jam Problem
• To enrich the driving qualifications
• Proper use of Metro Rails & Flyovers
• Increasing the Parking Facilities
• Increasing the use of Double Decker Bus
• Old, Expired or Unfit Vehicles should be removed from Dhaka City.
• Hawkers who build up their business spot beside important places should be removed.
But, make sure about their earning ang livelihood.
Solution of the
Traffic Jam Problem
• Rickshaw Can be restricted only for some important & busy roads.
• One family should maintain only a single family.
• Traffic Rules & Regulations must be followed by everyone
• The passers by should use the Zebra crossing during the road crossing.
• Express Highways can be a good solution
• People can use the water ways or water taxis to avoid the traffic jam in the Dhaka city (with

Conclusion
The traffic problems in Dhaka city are very complex requiring a comprehensive
and sustainable approach to address. The rapid growth of the city’s population,
the lack of public transportation options, and the unregulated growth of private
vehicles are major contributors to the congestion and pollution in the city. The
consequences of this traffic problems are significant, including reduced
productivity, of the people, Physical & mental stress and a decreased quality of life
for the city’s residents.
