). Adolf Hitler, the leader of Germany, thought the Jews were the reason that
Germany lost World War I (Jews in Nazi Germany History Learning Site). Hitler
blamed them for almost all of Germany s problems and he wanted to exterminate the
entire Jewish population. The Shawl , written by Cynthia Ozick, tells one of the
many horrifying stories from the Holocaust. The story has three main characters: the
young mother Rosa, her baby Magda, and her fourteen year old niece Stella. They
were victims of the Holocaust who had an awful experience in the Nazi
concentration camps. Whenever the holocaust victims had to march to different
concentration camps, people who could not walk on their own in a line were shot on
the spot, including infants. Rosa protects Magda by hiding her in a magic shawl, but
Stella selfishly takes away the shawl, leading to Magda s death. Through the
characters of Stella, Rosa, and Magda, Cynthia Ozick shows the desperation and
inhumanity that resulted when the Holocaust victims were denied of their basic

My Memories Of My Memory
My earliest memory stretches as far back as I can remember. I know all the details
of my birth and the hospital when I was born in Farmington Hills, Michigan, but of

organize a board of ten or less people to oversee all aspects of Native American

John Locke and George Berkeley are two respected individuals in the world of
philosophy. These two brilliant minds impacted the philosophy and brought new
ideas that are worth noting. John Locke is famously known for his belief in tabula

I dissent from German philosopher s Hegel s interpretation that this conflict is not
between good and evil, but between one sided positions, each of which embodies
some good. From my perspective, I do not think both sides can be equally justified,
due to the fact that Antigone came upon an unjust situation and took appropriate
action, while Kreon is trying to enforce a law that pains the people around him.
Therefore, I can justify Antigone s point of view rather than Kreon s because I
can relate to the fact that your family and personal beliefs are above all else. Kreon
took the predicament too far by declaring that Antigone be put to death for her
courteous action of providing a proper burial for her brother, Polyneices. As I see
it, Antigone had every right to perform a burial for Polyneices. She was not trying
to deliberately upset or disobey Kreon, but she knew she had to do what she felt
was right in her heart. She was aware of the consequences and she still followed
through with it, therefore, it clearly meant a lot to her. Burying her brother,
respecting the gods, and standing up to Kreon demonstrates her true defiant
character for staying loyal to herself and to family, no matter the outcome. It could

The objective of this lab was to create a ketone through an oxidation reaction using a
using a secondary alcohol and oxidizing agent in order to use that ketone in a
reduction reaction with a specific reducing agent to determine the affect of that
reducing agent on the diastereoselectivity of the product. In the first part of this
experiment, 4 tert butylcyclohexanol was reacted with NaOCl, an oxidizing agent,
and acetic acid to form 4 tert butylcyclohexanone. In the second part of this
experiment, 4 tert butylcyclohexanone was reacted with a reducing agent, either
NaBH4 in EtOH or Al(OiPr)3 in iPrOH, to form the product 4 tert
butylcyclohexanol. 1H NMR spectroscopy was used to determine the cis:trans
ratio of the OH relative to the tert butyl group in the product formed from the
reduction reaction with each reducing agent. Thin layer chromatography was used
in both the oxidation and reduction steps to ensure that each reaction ran to
completion. In an oxidation reaction, the number of C H bonds decreases or the
number of C O bonds increases, while in a reduction reaction, the number of C H
bonds increases or the number of C O bonds decreases. In the oxidation step of this
reaction, 4 tert butylcyclohexanone is formed from when a C H bond is lost while a
C O bond is gained to create a carbonyl. In the reduction step, 4 tert
butylcyclohexanol is formed when the carbonyl is converted into an alcoholwhen a

born in Richland Centre, Wisconsin. His father, William Carey Wright, was a
preacher and his mother, Anna Lloyd Jones, was a teacher. Wright grew up in
Madison, Wisconsin for the majority of his childhood. He would work on his uncle
s farm during the summers; where he developed his deep appreciation for nature.
Wright would preach the importance of organic architecture and building within
nature. No house should ever be on a hill or on anything. It should be of the hill.
