METHODOLOGY
Data was retrieved from students that attend Alabama State University and Alabama A amp;M
University. The variables represented were that of 20 students from each category and the hours
they studied per week. All of the data collected are displayed in the rest of this research paper. A
spreadsheets was created and the data was placed into its proper location based on the data that it
included. This was used to show the information in a graphical sense in order to interpret all of the
data in its simplest form.

Descriptive Measures
Sample Mean, Sample Variance, and Sample Standard Deviation and an assortment of others
variables were used to conduct this research of hours students studied. All of the data was collected
and put into separate categories where multiple statistical formulas were implemented into this
research paper.

A Brief Note On The Affordable Care Act
Just as the Affordable Care Act has it s positive outcomes that can help many people, it also
comes along with several downsides. The first downside is that the Affordable Care Act will not
only raise taxes to help fund for it but it will affect many of the high earners because they will
have to pay higher taxes. Not only that is an issue but will also hurt those middle class Americans
that do not quite make enough but at the same time are not completely living in poverty. These
people will be the most affected by the taxes because it will affect our American Citizens directly.
Also, these taxes are not quite specified but it is stated that even larger firms will have to pay a
larger sum of moneydue to the taxes being enforced with the Affordable Care Act. They will
begin to see a negative financial effects as well as their employees because they will also be held
accountable to get those taxes take from their paychecks so they too will see a negative financial
effect. Quite Frankly, that is a very tough to happen to employers and employees because they
work hard to make ends meet and if additional taxes are going to be added to their paychecks to
deduct more of their pay it can really hurt the employee as well as their family. Another Con that the
Affordable Care Act brings to the table is that health insurancewill rise and be more costly for our
American Citizens. They do say the quality will improve in the long run but it was never mentioned
specifically of the amount

After much persistence and rejection, by 1868 all of the Intransigents were displayed at the Salon.
Once they were in, they were dissatisfied with the profit driven atmosphere of the Salon and
sought to have their own exhibition. They had little success with their own exhibition and during
the Franco German war, their leader Bazille was killed in action. A young artist by Edward Degas
joined the group shortly bringing a renewed sense of passion for exhibiting their impressionist

Persuasive Essay On Community Service
The options for community service are endless. After narrowing down my options, I applied to
volunteer at the Crystal Lake Public Library this past summer. Having to go in for an interview
was a new experience for me, considering how I have never applied for a job. I believe that the
exposure to the interview process did two things for me: first, it put me out of my comfort zone,
and second, it taught me invaluable lessons about applying for future jobs and programs. This is
because I am the kind of person who can get nervous easily, and I struggle to hide it sometimes.
An interview is a type of situation that I would feel nervous in; however, I was able to overcome
my fear and apply to the library anyways. Therefore, I learned what I should expect to be asked,
and I understand how I should properly respond. Once I was accepted to the library s volunteer
network, I was able to choose which department I would work for in order to serve the community.
By volunteering at the library, I improved the Youth Services department, particularly by
participating in the Adopt a Shelf program. One part of my job was to rearrange the books in the
correct order when they got disorganized. This made it easier for parents and children to find the
books, movies, and CDs they were looking for. Another task that I enjoyed was replacing the
books to their proper location from the clean up cart. It is important for books to be on the
shelves where they belong because otherwise it appears that books are not available. My favorite
part of volunteering for the library, however, was getting to help kids pick out the books they
were looking for. I remember many of the people I helped, but one of my fondest moments
occurred on one of my first days. I was working in the junior fiction department, and there was a
young girl there. She wanted to find a new series of books to read for the summer reading
program. It was special to show her the novels that I read when I was her age, especially when she
chose to start the Mother Daughter Book Club books: my favorite series in middle school. It was

Oppression And Poverty In A Piece Of Streak By Jack London
In the short story, A Piece of Streak by Jack London, the ideation of oppression and poverty by
displayed the protagonist , Tom King, he is a retired fighter, that struggles with his current situation.
The sense of struggle and sadness is developed through the reoccurring themes of oppression and
poverty, symbolism of the tobacco less pipe and the dull and lifeless tone created through diction
and literary devices. The theme of oppression is one of the main concepts that is explored by his
failure to provide the basics of life, including: food, proper clothes, and a reliable income.
Without these basic needs of life, a family in society would be considered improvised. The
reader learns that the King family struggles to provide food for the children. The narrator states
that, the two children in the other room had been sent early to bed in order that in sleep they
might forget they had gone supperless (London 1). The inability to provide a meal for his
children and wife is a clear example of poverty. In connection, the only food they are able to
purchase is considered lower class food. The narrator mentions that Tom s dinner consisted of.
flour [that have been borrowed from the neighbour] for the gravy. The last two ha pennies had
gone to buy bread (1). As mentioned before, bread and low quality gravy is a lower class meal
and is inexpensive. However, the family is still unable to provide food for dinner, one of the
basics of life. Another component that is mentioned by the narrator that reflects oppression and
poverty is the fact that they do not have proper and purposeful clothing. Within the character
description, it is stated that Tom s appearance consists of a cotton shirt, a cheap, two shilling
affair, showed a frayed collar (1). Due to lack of financial security, they are unable to provide
better clothes. The theme of oppression and poverty is an significant to develop the plot and create
images throughout the text. The symbolism of the pipe is a significant to the theme of oppression
and poverty, while developing the protagonist. The pipe represents what he used to have, which is

the year they banned women from being in military combat. Ever since January 2013 they have
tried to find ways to lift the ban. In January 2016 they had to decide whether women should or
should not be in combat. Women have performed in combat some have even died in defense of our
