Ownership
What do we value in our lives? Ownership is singularly based on how much you care and cherish. You
can value anything, a possession, skill, characteristic, or even a friend. But you own it only if what
you value, makes you who you are. If your ownership helps develop your consistently into a better
person or even contribute to others than you truly own it. As Plato and Aristotle proposed, owning
tangible objects can develop moral character. Owning something can simply mean having a certain
possession: such as a flashy car, if you buy a Lamborghini there you might attract females to you
because they associate that nice car to you. While driving a beaten down Volkswagen may repel
possible on lookers from wanting to know you. But are these vehicles part of their owners? The man
with the Lamborghini may have a sense of entitlement and boastful pride, meanwhile the Volkswagen
owner could be content. These objects have a direct correlation with their owners by showing the
value, cherishment, care, and love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While my parents were in the prime of their parentship, they decided to commence a project that
would last several years. They decide to build a new home for our family; our friends, family, and
local contractors aided us in our challenge. I recall my family spending countless hours every day,
while working 40 plus hours a week and raising a family. When the day they moved in, they had a
sense of accomplishment for the long hard work they had produced. They own that house, the blood,
sweat, and tears that our house caused formed a connection with my family. A connection with
perseverance and a sense of self; just by looking at that house, my parents think of the love of their
family, and why they decided to do it. This is the key, producing something for the betterment of self

Summary Of Walking For The Scared
Reading Adam Rosenblatt s book Digging for the Disappeared , in discussing the human rights of the
dead has conjured my memories with people who have disappeared after I met them during my
fieldwork in the Pakistani province of Balochistan in 2009 (1). Balochistan, a region divided between
Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, is a black hole for the global media (2). There, one of the people that I
have encountered was Qambar Chakar Baloch, an economics student at Balochistan University of
Information Technology and Management Sciences. He was abducted in July, two months after I left,
by the Pakistani intelligence ISI due to his student activism in campaigning against the discriminatory
admission policies at his university and sympathies for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Argentinian civil war aftermath was the beginning of forensic anthropology involvement in the
politics of mass grave exhumations in 1985 by the anthropologist Clyde Snow. Digging for human
skeletal remains has always been a complicated process, as there are many stakeholders who are
concerned about the consequences of how to exhume and the cultural implications on how the dead
are treated. When scientific methods are applied in a humanitarian context, it raises many ethical
concerns and legal obligations. Human rights forensic anthropologists approach was family based to
help search for missing relatives and was further developed by the International Commission on
Missing Persons and other NGOs, in the Balkans and elsewhere. Their mission was never simple, as it
is contested between ideals and practice, between logistical differences and varying objectives of the
stakeholders. Despite the evident importance of exhumation in offering a closure for the living
relatives, the uncompromising politicization of exhumation defies that goal as it is demonstrated
through the factionalization of Plaza de Mayo s mothers in Argentine and the leftists and nationalists
in Spain. The Plaza de Mayo s mothers case raised the question of choosing between the
individualization or the collectivization of suffering in campaigning for their political rights and their

Should the Death Penalty Be Reintroduced Into Britian Essay
Should capital punishment be reintroduced in Britain under any circumstances?
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the execution of a convicted criminal as punishment for
crimes known as capital crimes or capital offences. Since ancient times capital punishment has been a
punishment for crimes like murder. Stoning, crucifixion, and drowning were old ways of carrying the
death penalty out. Theses days some countries (the majority of the U.S.A., Iraq and others) say that
they use more humane ways of carrying out the death penalty. Theses include the electric chair, lethal
injection and hanging. The death penalty in the U.K. has been abolished now since 1969 (1999 for
treason and arson on a naval base). The last two people to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is because criminals appeal on death row and this cost society a fortune. Not only that the electric
chair, lethal injection and hanging cost lots of money to set up the equipment. I believe that the money
that could be spent on the criminals if they were given the death penalty should be use to help
criminals instead. Most crimes are committed by people who have no life before prison. They decide
to commit a crime because they will either be given a jail cell in the warmth or their misery will be
ended if they are given the death penalty. Why not give them qualifications so they can make
something of their life if they get out of prison.
He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. Exodus, chapter 21, paragraph 12. Is
this right? Some people believe that capital punishment is right because the bible says so. They think
that it is not wrong and they believe it is a fitting punishment but this seems ridiculous in light of the
fact that one of the Ten Commandments is you shall not murder . Although the bible says that if
someone commits a crime they should face some fate, do they have to face death? A jail sentence
keeps the public just as safe.
These statistic, the death penalty will reduce further crimes, are used by some to claim that the death
penalty is an ok method of punishment. This is not actually the case. Scientific studies have
consistently failed to

Golden Age Of Athens
Athens had what is known as its Golden Age between 480 and 430 BCE, and while it was a relatively
short period of time, it laid the foundations of western civilization.
As the Golden Age dawned, the autonomous poleis (city states) that had formed in the preceding two
to three centuries had set aside their differences and united to face the threat of invasion posed by the
Persian Empire. Though vastly outnumbered, the Greeks had finally defeated the Persian armies in
480 BCE. In the years of peace that followed, the Greeks made significant advances in art, literature,
science and philosophy, as pride and patriotism drove them to greater heights of creativity and in
Athens, an experiment with a new kind of government flourished under the statesman Pericles.
Prior to about 600 BCE, Athens had been an oligarchy, with an aristocratic minority controlling its
government. But enlightened Athenian leaders began instituting reforms to the city s government
between 600 and 500 BCE. Solon (c. 638 558 BCE) introduced a new code of laws that was less harsh
than Athens existing legal code (laid out by an Athenian statesman called Draco, hence the term
draconian to describe repressive laws) , and also set up a Popular Assembly of Citizens, although a
council of aristocrats still made the laws.
Cleisthenes (c. 570 508 BCE) known as the Father of Democracy expanded democracy still further,
creating a Council of 500, which consisted of 50 representatives from each Greek tribe. He

African-American Studies
African American Studies The aspect of African American Studies is key to the lives of African
Americans and those involved with the welfare of the race. African American Studies is the systematic
and critical study of the multidimensional aspects of Black thought and practice in their current and
historical unfolding (Karenga, 21). African American Studies exposes students to the experiences of
African American people and others of African descent. It allows the promotion and sharing of the
African American culture. However, the concept of African American Studies, like many other studies
that focus on a specific group, gender, and/or creed, poses problems. Therefore, African American
Studies must overcome the obstacles in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
African American sociology is defined as the critical study of the structure and functioning of the
African American community as a whole, as well as the various units and processes which compose
and define it, and its relations with people and the forces external to it (Karenga, 269). African
American sociology involves the study of family, groups, institutions, views and values, relations of
race, class and gender and related subjects. The African American community, like other communities,
is defined by the sharing of common space. Parts of its common space, however, are bounded areas of
living, such as ghettos, which not only close African Americans in the community, but simultaneously
shuts them out from the access and opportunities available in the larger, predominately Caucasian
society (Karenga, 302). The concept of isolation creates areas of poverty. Socially, isolation in ghettos
prevents the cycle of diversity society, allowing prevailing stereotypes to surface. The immense
concentration of African Americans is a reason for disadvantages, such as joblessness, poverty, etc.
Statistics suggest that the employment rate issue is an essential on among African American women.
The average rate of unemployment among African American women in the 1980 s was 16% and was
higher for African American men (Giddings, 350). Thus, the concept of diversity prevents African
Americans from thriving socially. The core concept of

Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection
This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to
competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males produce
smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is greater than
that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by each of sexes to
the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an instances where
one sex contributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the other this sex will
become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater loss of fitness if an
importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male and female can provide
care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine the degree to which the one
sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences proved a clue about the intensity
of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females contribute more to the offspring care and are
the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual
characteristics in terms of morphology and behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles
are reversed. Though direct care is not common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by
protecting the female after mating as observed in several

An In-Depth Analysis of the European Debt Crisis
Abstract In this paper, we present an in depth analysis of the nature, causes, economic consequences,
prevention as well as control of the European Debt crisis. A definition of the debt crisis is also
provided. Recommendations on the way forward are also provided. Introduction Debt crisis is noted
by Pescatori and Sy (306) to be a term that had before 1990s been used to typically refer to defaults in
debt serving. This definition however became very problematic with the emergence of the sovereign
bond markets. Debt crisis therefore generally deals with nations as well as their ability to repay loans
that they had earlier borrowed. The concept therefore deals with international loans, national
economies as well as national budgeting. An accurate and definition of debt crisis does not exist since
no standard definition has been advanced. The definitions of the term have generally been noted to
have varied over time with various institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as well as
Standard and poor (S P) providing their own views. The most basic definition and one which is
generally accepted indicates that debt crisis is when a national government is not able to repay the
debt that it owes as therefore resorts to seeking of some forms of assistance. The European Debt Crisis
The European Debt Crisis is a term used to describe the region s spirited struggle to repay the debt that
it had borrowed in the recent decades. Five main countries in the region

Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay
First: Equity
Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity.
Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not.
Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock
can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends
and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of
liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt
Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond.
A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain
amount, with interest, to the bondholder.
# Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital)
stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a
creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a
defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding
indefinitely

Persuasive Essay On Travel Alone
Let s Travel Alone! Any Barrier would be Easily Gotten Over. Many people like traveling. Some of
them use a fixed plan of a travel agency in a group, and the others make their itineraries on their own.
It seems the number of the latter is increasing these days. There are a number of benefits to travel
alone. The biggest one is that each traveler can plan their own travels as they like. For example, when
I planned a seven day trip for Tohoku area in Japan I made a number of the plans even visiting the
same spots with a train time schedule, which was very exciting. It was a pity that I was not able to
make the plan to meet all conditions I first conceived, but forming the best itinerary under limitations

In addition, the travelers do not have to follow this itinerary all the time in travelling. If there is a
something interesting in a real place, each one of the travelers is free to explore it, changing a
schedule. When I was making a plan for free time of school trip for Auckland, I remember one of our
teachers said Without the help of Google Map, you need to experience losing your way, exploring
what is on the real street on your own. There might be a nice bakery, which is not on a route displayed
on your smartphone. Plus, individual travelers can experience thorough loneliness in the real palace
which they have never visited before unless they take some action. Of course, in many cases, I cannot
take any action there, but I should learn something good if I encourage myself to take a step out of my
shell. The increase of individual travelers shows that they understand these advantages to travel alone,
however, the others still hesitate in traveling alone because of difficulties which the advantages have
at the same time. The difficulties are burden to make each plan, boringness to kill

Improving Quality of Service for Multimedia
There are two ways of providing quality of service for multimedia first, adding quality of service to
current cloud computing infrastructure, and second, adding quality of service between cloud and
multimedia infrastructures. In former, It focus on adding quality of service in only on cloud
infrastructure In later case, It focuses on adding quality of service between cloud infrastructure and
multimedia infrastructure. In this research we focusing on how cloud can provide quality of service
with help of multimedia applications. According to the properties of multimedia services, similar types
of multimedia services is processed through cluster servers. Each Media edge cloud is having three
clusters such as Storage, central processing unit, graphical process unit (GPU). All media related
applications will be processed by GPU. Storage types of media applications will be processed through
storage cluster. To improve the performance of media cloud, cloud proxy is proposed to reduce
latency. The mobile media proxy is designed to deal with mobile multimedia computing. Mobile
caching is included to process the mobile applications because, Mobile applications need to perform
with minimum number of resources. (Cybenko, G, 1989) Media cloud processing

Time Is Precious
Friends, today I am going to speak on a subject that affects us all, every day, every hour, every minute
and every second. Yes...the subject is Time.
Time is the most precious thing for a man as it comes only once in someone s life and never stays
long. Our life is like a bubble, a short morning dream. Therefore, we should take good care and make
the best use of it. In other words, we must understand the value of time. Time management is basically
planning and dividing one s time in a constructive way.
We all have a number of activities that have to be taken care of in a particular period of time. So we
should be able to plan our activities in such a way that we are able to complete all the work in a given
span of time. A great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But those who forgot the value of time found to their utter dismay that it was harsh on them later.
In other words, successful persons use time in the best possible manner to achieve their goals. Most of
us waste our precious time in unnecessary things such as gossip, roaming aimlessly, grieving over the
past blunders or day dreaming. It must always be kept in mind that, Time and tide wait for none . Time
can be spent wisely or foolishly. The choice is ours and so are its consequences.
Life is not a bed of roses. Each one of us has to face a number of problems in life. We have to be bold
and courageous enough to face them. Problems are faced by men of courage only. Escapists always
avoid problems. Bad times teach us a lot. They prepare us for a prosperous and glorious future. When
difficult times arrive, they prepare us for a better life. We will then be able to handle problems with
more maturity, stability and courage.
Basically, time and opportunity once lost can never be recovered. The flow of time is ceaseless and
eternal and we all are like small insignificant particles in this endless and continuous flow. Time is
eternal and endless but human life is very limited, finite and short lived. Hence, successful people
make the best use of time in their lives. A work done is time earned. A decision taken at an appropriate
moment can work wonders so we must all learn to strike the iron when it is hot.
We must make the best

globalization that is causing growth the Indian people have never experienced before. The booming

Essay about The Pros and Cons of Home Schooling
The Pros and Cons of Home Schooling Home schooling is an important issue in the educational world
today. Whether or not a parent has the right to take their child out of public schools to educate them at
home has become a widely talked about subject. Over the past decade, some 18,260 home schools
have registered as home schools, and this number continues to grow (Clark/Havice). This issue,
although intense and multi layered, is often divided into two distinct groups those who oppose it,
thinking it prevents the child from learning the essentials for social life, and those who advocate it,
thinking that it brings the family together, allowing the parents to control what the child learns, and
permits them to educate the children one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the lack of social skills, children also face the problem with going to universities.
Colleges are reluctant to admit home school graduates because they did not have an accredited
diploma (Smith). Students who have been home schooled throughout their childhood also run into
problems when applying for college. Home schooling requires that one parent must stay at home and
teach the children. Families have to give up one parent s full time salary. Rachel Gehlbach obtained a
college degree and studied theology, computers and social sciences before she had children. She notes
that she could probably get a good job in Milwaukee, but she has chosen remain at home and teach the
children. They bake bread and garden to help save money on the family s grocery bill (Tastad). There
is also the price of school supplies to contend with; school supplies tend to be more expensive for
home schooled students. This can make the loss of income harder (Kang).
Since parents are the teachers in a home schooling environment, they have ultimate authority. They
can have an oppressive amount of control over the student. Parents spending more time with their
children may seem like an advantage, but there comes a point where the students need time away from
their family and their parents. School is a place where students can socialize with people outside of
their family and not be under their parents constant observation. Eventually,

Journey to the West is a Chinese novel published in the 16th century that tells a story of Xuanzang or

has become insurmountable in Asian cultures and has managed to help both Taoism and Buddhism to
surge in popularity and stay relevant today. Being one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese
literature, Journey to the West has been successfully adapted into various forms of media and is often

Sun Wukong s popularity lies in his eccentric personality, his super powers, and his embodiment of

Immersion In Art Realism
In the beginning video games such as Spacewar! (1962) started with little to no graphics displayed on
small black and white oscilloscope screens. As technology in video games improves so does our
ability to display larger more detailed graphics and images, leading to beautiful hand drawn and
animated games such as Dark Stalkers (Capcom 1994) and Lori and the blind forest (Moon Studios
2015). Along with this improvement in technology and graphics, the search for more immersive
experiences has also grown whether it be the NES Power Glove (1989), Battle Tech centres (1990) or
the HTC VIVE (2016) the game industry wants to take the immersion that one step further. But how
important is realistic visual representation to the flow of a game? Csikszentmihalyi believed that there
are eight elements of flow within video games; a task that can be completed, the ability to concentrate,
clear goals, immediate feedback, a sense of control, player skill matching challenge, self concern
disappears, sense of time being altered. The aesthetics within video games don t seem to effect any of
the elements Csikszentmihalyi has given us and yet we strive for bigger and better graphical
experiences to increase the realism of our gameplay.
Immersion in art Realism was broadly considered the beginning of modern art due to the belief that
everyday life and the world around us was a suitable subject for artists who wished to portray the truth
within our society. Unfortunately when photography

Pennsylvania Code Of Conduct Essay
The Pennsylvania Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators was created in order to

treating all students fairly, instilling good citizenship upon students, keeping an open mind. Section

Section 235.10 states that teachers may not have sexual relations with students. This rule is
straightforward and in place for obvious reasons. Relationships between teachers and students violate
laws and place students and teachers into an altered power dynamic. If students and teachers had
relations outside of school it could lead to unfair treatment. Another rule that must be followed when it
comes to teaching is that teachers must obtain proper certification in order to teach. This rule is in
place to ensure that our children are being taught by qualified individuals. Before someone can step
into a classroom and teach they must obtain teaching certification. Additionally, Section 235.4. part 3
of the PA Code of Conduct states that Professional educators shall maintain high levels of competence
throughout their careers (PA Code of Conduct, 1973). This rule is in place to ensure that students are

Nerds Essay
I can barely hear myself think over the constant roaring of the student body as we pile into the
lunchroom. I take a glance around the room as I make my way towards a table in the back, seeing
everyone else make their way towards their usual tables as well. As cliché as it seems, most people sit
with those who are like them the popular girls sit together and talk about homecoming or boys, the
football players sit side by side talking about their upcoming game, and the band kids huddle around
their sheet music, using their lunch break as practice.
However, I affiliate with none of those cliques. Instead, I sit with those who are typically called the
nerds or geeks of the school. There are only guys on the table, except for me. Ordinarily, we talk about
television shows or our favorite video games. Today, it is just a typical day with every table doing
what it normally does, with no one giving any of it a second thought. ... Show more content on

Zeno s Arguments Against Achilles
One of Zeno s arguments about motion is called the Achilles. This well known argument is named
after the one whom the argument says cannot possibly overtake the tortoise he is pursuing. This
argument on Achilles helps show us how Zeno proved his point. He took a presupposition and then
proved that it is, in fact, impossible. The argument starts with Achilles and the Tortoise having a race.
And because Achilles is a swift and mighty warrior, and the Tortoise is heavy and slow, the Tortoise is
given a head start of ten meters. However, with this advantage, the Tortoise will always be ahead of
Achilles no matter how quick he catches up with it. In order to understand the way Zeno think, we will
be analyzing this paradox of Achilles and the Tortoise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zeno put this in the argument so we can easily see the dilemma. If Achilles is faster, that should mean
he would definitely overtake the Tortoise. But Zeno is giving the argument that whenever Achilles
catches up to the animal, it would, at that moment, advances a certain distance. So by giving the
Tortoise a head start, Achilles put himself in a situation where he can never catch up to his opponent.
These lead us to the implicit premises underlying the argument about Achilles and the Tortoise. First,
Achilles always takes some amount of time to cover a certain distance. And though the Tortoise is
slow, it is always moving ahead. Because the animal covers some distance in every interval of time, it
seems impossible to know the time at the end of which Achilles has caught the Tortoise. Therefore, we
can infer from the premises that in each moment that Achilles must be catching up the distance
between them, the Tortoise will be adding a new distance however

A Comparison Of The Five Characters In The Catcher In The Rye
Today I m dining with 5 characters from the novel The Catcher in the Rye, who I consider close
friends; the characters are Holden Caulfield, Ackley, Jane Gallagher, Phoebe Caulfield, and Stradlater.
By the end of our Chinese dinner we all received a fortune cookie! The first to open their fortune
cookies was Holden. His fortune said, Don t be unreal, this is only appropriate for Holden because
throughout the book he struggles with accepting reality and learning how to cooperate with it. Ackley
struggles to open his fortune cookie, but he got there. His fortune said, Lying is always your first
choice, but it will become your last resort once you become the lie yourself. This made complete sense
considering Ackley was always lying about his sexual encounters; he kept his message to himself.
Jane opens hers to see a surprise, You know you re respected and loved, embrace it. Jane is one of the
few people Holden enjoys. This gave a hint to Jane, it left her puzzled. Phoebe, Holden s younger
sister opened her fortune cookie with a sly look on her face. She read her fortune aloud, Sunshine. She
got this message because her innocence would be the sunlight to Holden s day. Soon the sexy bastard
(a nickname Holden gave to his roommate Stradlater) at the table got to his fortune cookie. The
fortune cookie said, Gross. Stradlater is embarrassed and decides not to share his fortune with the
table. This fortune was accurate because he is very unhygienic at Home. Everyone

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without

Debt Pay down Each month when you make that mortgage payment to the bank, a tiny portion of it is
going to reduce the balance of your loan. Because of the way mortgages are structured, a normally
amortizing loan has a very small amount of debt pay down at the beginning, but if you do manage to
keep the loan in place for a number of years, you ll see that as you get closer to the end of the loan
term, more and more of your principle is being used to retire the debt. Of course, all this assumes that
you have an amortizing loan in the first place. If you have an interest only loan, your payments will be
lower, but you won t benefit from any loan pay down. if you are planning to hold the property for 5 7
years or less, it makes sense to look at an interest only loan, since the debt pay down you d accrue
during this time is minimal, and it can help your cash flow to have an interest only loan, as long as
interest rate adjustments upward don t increase your payments sooner than you were expecting and
ruin your cash flow. If you plan to hold onto the property long term, and/or you have a great interest
rate, it makes sense to get an accruing loan that will eventually reduce the balance of your investment
loan and make it go away. Make sure you run the numbers on your real estate investing strategy to see
if it makes sense for you to get a fixed rate loan or an interest only loan. In some cases, it may make
sense to refinance your property to increase your cash flow or your

The Work Of Louis Pasteur
In the midst of the Industrial Revolution, the son of leather tanners provided the clarity needed to
understand the behavior of microbes and applied this understanding to improve people s daily life.
This man, Louis Pasteur, succeeded in his medical investigations and continued to pursue his interest,
despite objections given to him by his peers. The timeless work of Louis Pasteur in the areas of
chemistry and microbiology provided the necessary foundation for the scientific study of immunology
and stressed the importance of possessing a thorough understanding of the procedures involved in
medical treatment.
Background
On December 27, 1822, Louis Pasteur was born to a family of leather tanners (Lamont, Cohn). As a
child, Pasteur showed no scientific potential whatsoever (Cohn). However, he did have a talent for art,
and it is possible that this particular interest could have influenced his appreciation for detail in his
later years (Lamont). Many of his teachers suggested that he follow in his father s footsteps. As time
progressed, Pasteur developed an interest in the field of science. Starting from this point in his life,
Pasteur demonstrated the characteristic of rising above his expectations. Even though he was the son
of a leather tanner, Pasteur did not give up and live a simple life. Through many strenuous years of
hard work supplemented with encouragement from his father, Pasteur began to study at the French
University. It is here, as Cohn notes, that Pasteur

Theme Analysis of the play Trifles Essay
A play can be analyzed in multiple ways. One of these ways is through the play s theme. The theme of
a work is often a statement about life and the human condition. In the play Trifles by Susan Glaspell,
the theme noticing the little things can make a difference can be explained through plot, character, and
setting.
The theme can be developed through the plot. In Trifles, Mr. Wright was found murdered in his bed,
so the police arrested his wife. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, neighbors of the Wrights, went to Mrs.
Wright s house to pick up some things for her while she was in jail. As they were looking for Mrs.
Wright s sewing kit, the women found a birdcage with its door torn open in the cupboard. After
looking some more, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wright as the murderer.
Along with plot, character can help develop the theme. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters say that Mrs.
Wright used to be lively and social, and used to sing in the choir. However, Mrs. Wright now stays in
her home most of the time. The women also say that Mr. Wright was a hard man. He might have made
Mrs. Wright give up her friends and her singing. When Mrs. Wright got a canary, Mr. Wright might
have strangled it because he did not like its singing. Mrs. Wright might then have murdered Mr.
Wright for taking away the one thing she had left.
Setting can also be used to develop the theme. The setting in the play was Mrs. Wright s kitchen. The
Wrights house was isolated, down in a hollow. The isolation, coupled with not going to town any
more, might have felt terrible for Mrs. Wright. In the 1920 s, the woman s place was traditionally in
the kitchen, so any clues about Mrs. Wright would be in her kitchen. She had left a mess out in the
kitchen: a half wiped table, unwashed pots and pans, a dishtowel lying out, and a misplaced loaf of
bread. Mrs. Wright would only have left a mess if she was in a hurry or was interrupted, such as by
Mr. Wright coming in and killing the canary.
Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters showed that noticing the little things could make a difference. By noticing
the mess in the kitchen and finding the strangled canary, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters were able to figure
out that Mrs. Wright killed Mr.

Abstract
In the play Oedipus Rex, Sophocles portrays Oedipus who is also the main character, as a good
natured, beautiful, noble yet narcissistic person who has a lapse of judgment and fall from power.
Throughout the play Oedipus makes a few profound decisions for which he is condemned to plentiful
suffering; thus making Oedipus fit the mold of a tragic hero if we agree with Aristotle that Oedipus
misfortune happens strictly because of his tragic flaw. Oedipus judgment alongside classic narcissistic

Aristotle, Using Oedipus as an ideal model, says that a tragic hero must be an important or influential
man who has a lapse in judgment. Who then must suffer the consequences of his actions. The audience
must learn a lesson from the tragic hero; a lesson of what happens when great men fall from their
social or political positions. The tragic hero needs his errors in judgment for a phenomenal effect of
audience realization to occur.
Oedipus tries to prevent his terrible fate from occurring after it is prophesized to Laius, his father,
early on; he leaves the city of his foster parents as a preventative measure. Oedipus is being punished
for his parents actions. His birth parents once set out to seek the advice of the Delphi Oracle but the
advice was gloom. They were told never to have children, but in spite of the warning Oedipus was
born. Therefore from the beginning Oedipus is a tragic hero, his birth presents his destiny to result in
tragedy. As with most tragedies Oedipus birth was noble which made his fall more intriguing to the
audience. What use are my eyes to me, who could never See anything pleasant again? (Sophocles
1293) This statement is the realization of wrongdoing; it is not until now that Oedipus sees his own
actions as wrong.
There is a significant point of the play where the Herdsman tells Oedipus who his mother is and
Oedipus replies Oh, oh, then everything has come out true. Light, I shall not look on

are designed to provide a context through which Yeats illuminates its entire design of the soul s

Creating Cross Functional Teams For A Functional Team
Chapter Eight:
What is the key to creating cross functional teams in which team members put the good of the team
ahead of functional self interest?
A team is a group of individuals who works for the common goal and they contribute to achieve a
unique and common objective. Cross functional teams where members come from different

land, aquatic ecosystems, buildings, vegetation and more. The acidity of the acid rain will distort the
pH levels and break down elements to harm whatever this type of precipitation touches.
First things first, what is a pH level? The pH level is short for potential hydrogen, and the level is used
to find the acidity of an aqueous solution. The scale goes from zero to fourteen, and seven being the
most neutral level in the scale. Do not think that the drop from seven to six could be overlooked at.
The higher the level (over level 7), it contains more oxygen, and more alkaline it is. Lower the level
(below level 7), it becomes more acidic and contains less oxygen. Do not think that dropping one level
in the pH scale won t make a big difference, ...the pH scale is a logarithmic measure. This means that
every pH change of one is a tenfold change in acid content. ( The Environment: Acid Rain ). Rain, for
instance, should be around 5.3 to 6.0 pH level of acidity,

Intro to Humanities Essay
GED120 Intro to Humanities Unit 1 writing assignment Question #1: Define classical humanism and
illustrate by discussing the construction and decoration of the buildings of the Athenian acropolis. In
your answer, refer specifically to the classical orders and the Parthenon s sculptural decoration.
Humanism is a way of life that revolves around the interests of people. It stresses human worth and
building up self realization. Humanism was developed in Greece and Rome, and is generally due to
philosophy and current literary works during 1400 1650. It is termed Classical Humanism because it
was born during that time period. Classical Humanism had an impact during the Renaissance Era. An
example of classical humanism is reflected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also gave some indication of the wealth and prosperity of the monastery and, inside, would probably
commemorate patrons who provided sustained support to the community. The most precious human
remains in a monastic church were the relics of saints preserved in shrines behind the high altar. The
Church became a center for learning, with the monks becoming cultural carriers transmitting the
written treasures of the past by preserving and copying ancient texts. An example of this would be
Hrotsvit. Hrotsvit wrote books about Christian legends and wrote Roman dramas with an Christian
spin to it. Often, the only literate members of society were the monks/priest. It was the monks who
made and transmitted written copies of the Bible and other ancient works from generation to
generation. They organized some of the first libraries. They conducted scientific and other research to
benefit the surrounding communities. They were expert farmers who were able to pass on the benefits
of their expertise to peasants on the large manors. Monasticism has played a vital role in the creation,
preservation, and transmission of culture. This is especially true of the Christian Monasticism during
the Middle Ages. References: http://www.monasticpaideia.org/

Cleaning Up The Philadelphia Sewage Systems
Cleaning Up the Philadelphia Sewage Systems Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is one of the biggest cities
on the east coast possessing more than fifteen hundred people. Our Philadelphia water department is
dedicated to providing clean water to all living things throughout the city. One of the biggest problems
faced by our water department is the litter problem that plagues the city. Taking care of the old
infrastructure of the sewer is one of the sewers is very important when it comes to protecting our
waterways from wastewater. Many people are affected by these problems, including our children and
pregnant women. The problem does not lie within one particular community, but all throughout the
city of Philadelphia. Being careless and selfish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This effects community funds as well, which means less money for schools which is a big problem
within Philadelphia. People do have a big effect on the problem within the city because they are so
careless and do not think of the effects that their actions have on the environment. The 1900s led to the
start of dealing with the contaminated drinking water throughout the city. The first step was
constructing five filtration plants and using chlorine to treat the water. The Sewage system treatment
plants in Philadelphia were constructed in 1950 to 1966 this consisted of the three plants to the right.
The government regulations and funding are what determine the technologies and methods that we
develop to treat and manage our water systems. Today we have for the most part dealt with the
problem of contaminated water, but we still face some problems with bacteria. This especially affects
the vulnerable part of our population like pregnant women and children and make them sick. This is a
problem that runs city wide and if it does not get the attention that it needs we could see some very
dire effects. Philadelphia over the years has improved its methods of cleaning up the water with the
development of technology along with the knowledge gained from past experiences. The city of
Philadelphia has adopted the three step process clean the water. This is Diagram to the right projects

Essay about Prohibition vs War on Drugs
The United States of America ˆs war on drugs today is very similar to America ˆs
Prohibition of Alcohol in the 1920 ˆs. These two major issues of their time may not seem like they
can be logically compared, but statistics for usage and a correlating rise in crime for both eras show a
strong relationship. There is also a tendency for an outright defiance of the laws and law makers of the
United States government in both cases. Most people today think that the prohibition of the 1920 ˆs
and the current war on drugs have many contrasting points. The opposite is true. However, the points
that do contrast are more opinion based than fact oriented. The following paragraphs will attempt to
clearly and effectively show a comparison and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A change was clearly needed and the government responded by redefining the Volstead Act. The
redefinition made any drink containing more than 3.2% alcohol illegal. Wine, because of its lower
alcohol content, became very popular and sales soared. Then on December 5th,
1933, thirty three states ratified the 21st Amendment to the Constitution which repealed the 18th
Amendment. Drinking, and the sale of alcohol were once again legal in the United States.
A summary of the war the United States is waging on drugs is necessary before any comparison and
contrast position can be made with the Prohibition Era.
In the past several decades, millions of people in America have become involved in illegal drugs,
either through usage or through the importation, manufacture, sale and distribution of these illegal
substances. According to United States Justice Department statistics, of the millions of Americans who
use illegal drugs today, 2.7 million of these people are hard core drug abusers. The hard core drugs
that enjoy the most popularity are crack, cocaine and heroin all of which are highly addictive.
Addiction increases consumption and consumption increases the necessity to provide the drugs. It is
an illegal example of a supply and demand scenario.
While drugs attract users in all economic levels, it appears to be especially prevalent among those
living in poverty. One possible explanation is that at the poverty level there is little

Essay On Maycomb In To Kill A Mockingbird
Maycomb County was a sleepy town in Southern Alabama; everyone knew one another, there was
hardly any violence, and each resident knew their place in the town s social system. This would easily
entitle Maycomb as the perfect town, wouldn t it? Unfortunately, there is always a flaw in the system.
Under the kindness and welcoming environment of this county and its people lies a hidden layer of
judgement, uncivilization, and discrimination. Although these traits are hidden, Maycomb County isn t
your ideal, small Southern town. Throughout the first section of To Kill a Mockingbird , we get
glimpses of how the town bases judgement off of rumors and lies without considering others points of
view. In chapter one Scout tells the reader Inside the house lived a malevolent phantom. People said
he existed, but Jem and I had never seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 3 of this novel Burris Ewell says to Miss Caroline, Ain t no snot nosed slut of a school
teacher ever born c n make me do nothin ! . This excerpt from the text proves that not all of Maycomb
was civilized because Burris Ewell has disrespected a female teacher and used crude language. Back
then, disrespecting women was a sin and a crime, therefore proving that Burris Ewell is uncivilized
and rude. Later in chapter 3, Atticus says They live like animals... When a man spends his relief
checks on green whiskey his children have a way of crying from hunger pains. I don t know any
landowner around here who begrudges those children any game their father can hit. From this quote,
the reader learns that Burris Ewell s father is paid by the government to live properly but spends that
money on alcohol instead of caring for his children. This quote also reveals that the Ewell s are
allowed to illegally hunt because of how they live at home, thus proving that not everyone in
Maycomb county is

The Implementation Of Rfid Technology Essay
Implementation of RFID Technology
RFID in Airbus operations started in 1997. It first started RFID in its tool lending business wherein it
used to lend tools to its customers that customers needed for aircraft maintenance. The main objective
was to improve the operation efficiency by making tools available at a faster rate to its customers. A
combination of ERP software and Supply Chain Event Management(SCEM) software was used to
implement RFID technology in its tool lending business.
The tool lending process started with Airbus receiving the order from the customer for the required
tool which triggered an event in the SCEM software as discussed earlier. The tool requested was then
made ready for delivery to the customer. The Forwarder had to collect the tool for shipment and had to
update the data for transportation on ERP, which again created an event in the SCEM software. This
data was passed on to the RFID reader and it was written on the RFID tags on the shipment and the
toolbox. Because of the updating of the data on the SCEM software, each and every supply chain
partners which were concerned like the Airbus tools department and customers tracked the shipment
status. After the tool was delivered to the customer, the Internet enabled handheld device was used by
the Forwarder to update the information. The status was then again made available on the SCEM
software and made available online to all the concerned authorities. After receiving the tool lended to

Political Philosophy Of Niccolo Machiavelli
Niccolo Machiavelli, a banished political theorist once said, The first method for estimating the
intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him. Compared to the men around him,
Machiavelli has the most compelling political philosophy. Machiavelli certainly is a leading political
theorist who uses history and straight forwardness to prove his point. The Prince is filled with great
knowledge that has the ability to inspire the reader. Niccolo Machiavelli use of historical analysis,
realist attitude and brazen syntax are the driving forces that make his political philosophy so
compelling.
Machiavelli found it really important to study those that came before him. Machiavelli states, I have
been unable to find among my possessions anything which I hold so dear or esteem so highly as that
knowledge It is this knowledge and carefully analysis of history that makes his argument truly
compelling. Theorists before him like aristotle used observation and imagination in order to develop
their political theory s. But observation does not determine political success it is the careful analysis
and emulation of great leaders . Machiavelli proves this when he says , But as to exercise for the mind,
the prince ought to read history and study the actions of eminent men,...and above all, do as some
eminent men have done in the past,..so that when fortune changes she may find him prepared to resist
her blows. This speaks to the spellbinding nature of Machiavelli s

The Hostility Between Gene and Finny in A Separate Peace...
The Hostility Between Gene and Finny in A Separate Peace by John Knowles
Gene feels increasing hostility toward Finny before his fall from the tree. In the novel A SEPARATE
PEACE by John Knowles, the hostility between Gene and Finny increase because of the competition
inside of them both to be better then one another. It is about the increasing competition between Gene
and Finny and the hostility it brings. The hostility finally burst inside Gene and for one instant it takes
over. It makes him do something he will always regret. Gene s increasing hostility towards Finny
finally brings the down fall of their friendship.
Gene s first form of hostility toward Finny was the realization that
Finny could get away with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gene s envy increases to resentment of Finny making him do things he does not want to do. The first
resentment is when Finny manipulates
Gene into jumping out of the tree and into the water. The only reason he resents this is that it was Fine
s fault he was up in the tree. I (Gene) wouldn t have been on that darn limb except for him. I wouldn t
have turned around and so I lost my balance, if he hadn t been there. (25)
Gene blames Finny for him almost falling even though it wasn t really
Finny s fault. Gene is so envious of Finny that he does not want Finny to be one step better then him
for saving his life. He twists the truth to make it seem like it was Finny s fault for him almost falling.
Gene also resents the fact that Finny made up Blitzball around his physical abilities. Finny adapted the
game to his own physical abilities so he could excel at it. It made a game of strength, endurance, and
speed just what Finny s abilities were. Right from the start it was clear that no one had ever been
better adapted to sports than Finny was to Blitzball. (31) Gene is envious of
Finny making up a game that he was going to be naturally good at so, in
Gene s mind, he can be better then him and make him look bad. His last resentment is of Finny tring
to impress him with his athletic abilities. How he does this is when they first find

The History And Transitions Of Music
The history and transitions of music has had many talented persons that have influenced music but
none are so well known as Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van
Beethoven. All three of these great composers performed during the Classic period and it would act as
the base of classic music for the next one hundred and fifty, to two hundred years. The names of
Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven are so well known that people who have little to no knowledge of
music will recognize their names. The urban communities of Austria and Germany would find the
settings from 1750 1820 that would become known as the classical period. The Classic period had
many developments such as the sonata, symphony and string quartet along with a growth of opera
houses and concert halls were abundant during the classical period. The Golden Age will later refer to
this time of classical music. The works of Franz Joseph Hayden, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and
Ludwig van Beethoven will be everlasting in the world of classical music. There are many opinions of
the three big composers that do not include Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, furthermore everyone is
entitled to their own opinion.
Franz Joseph Haydn was born in Austria March 31st 1732 and died May 31st 1809 at age seventy
seven. Haydn s parents who neither one could read music but his father had been a folk musician had
noticed his son had a musical talent. They arranged for him to start apprenticing to Johann Mathis

  • 2. Ownership What do we value in our lives? Ownership is singularly based on how much you care and cherish. You can value anything, a possession, skill, characteristic, or even a friend. But you own it only if what you value, makes you who you are. If your ownership helps develop your consistently into a better person or even contribute to others than you truly own it. As Plato and Aristotle proposed, owning tangible objects can develop moral character. Owning something can simply mean having a certain possession: such as a flashy car, if you buy a Lamborghini there you might attract females to you because they associate that nice car to you. While driving a beaten down Volkswagen may repel possible on lookers from wanting to know you. But are these vehicles part of their owners? The man with the Lamborghini may have a sense of entitlement and boastful pride, meanwhile the Volkswagen owner could be content. These objects have a direct correlation with their owners by showing the value, cherishment, care, and love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Argentinian civil war aftermath was the beginning of forensic anthropology involvement in the politics of mass grave exhumations in 1985 by the anthropologist Clyde Snow. Digging for human skeletal remains has always been a complicated process, as there are many stakeholders who are concerned about the consequences of how to exhume and the cultural implications on how the dead are treated. When scientific methods are applied in a humanitarian context, it raises many ethical concerns and legal obligations. Human rights forensic anthropologists approach was family based to help search for missing relatives and was further developed by the International Commission on Missing Persons and other NGOs, in the Balkans and elsewhere. Their mission was never simple, as it is contested between ideals and practice, between logistical differences and varying objectives of the stakeholders. Despite the evident importance of exhumation in offering a closure for the living relatives, the uncompromising politicization of exhumation defies that goal as it is demonstrated through the factionalization of Plaza de Mayo s mothers in Argentine and the leftists and nationalists in Spain. • 4. Should the Death Penalty Be Reintroduced Into Britian Essay Should capital punishment be reintroduced in Britain under any circumstances? Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the execution of a convicted criminal as punishment for crimes known as capital crimes or capital offences. Since ancient times capital punishment has been a punishment for crimes like murder. Stoning, crucifixion, and drowning were old ways of carrying the death penalty out. Theses days some countries (the majority of the U.S.A., Iraq and others) say that they use more humane ways of carrying out the death penalty. Theses include the electric chair, lethal injection and hanging. The death penalty in the U.K. has been abolished now since 1969 (1999 for treason and arson on a naval base). Not only that the electric chair, lethal injection and hanging cost lots of money to set up the equipment. I believe that the money that could be spent on the criminals if they were given the death penalty should be use to help criminals instead. Most crimes are committed by people who have no life before prison. They decide to commit a crime because they will either be given a jail cell in the warmth or their misery will be ended if they are given the death penalty. Why not give them qualifications so they can make something of their life if they get out of prison. He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. Exodus, chapter 21, paragraph 12. Is this right? Some people believe that capital punishment is right because the bible says so. They think that it is not wrong and they believe it is a fitting punishment but this seems ridiculous in light of the fact that one of the Ten Commandments is you shall not murder . Although the bible says that if someone commits a crime they should face some fate, do they have to face death? A jail sentence keeps the public just as safe. These statistic, the death penalty will reduce further crimes, are used by some to claim that the death penalty is an ok method of punishment. This is not actually the case. • 5. Golden Age Of Athens Athens had what is known as its Golden Age between 480 and 430 BCE, and while it was a relatively short period of time, it laid the foundations of western civilization. As the Golden Age dawned, the autonomous poleis (city states) that had formed in the preceding two to three centuries had set aside their differences and united to face the threat of invasion posed by the Persian Empire. Though vastly outnumbered, the Greeks had finally defeated the Persian armies in 480 BCE. In the years of peace that followed, the Greeks made significant advances in art, literature, science and philosophy, as pride and patriotism drove them to greater heights of creativity and in Athens, an experiment with a new kind of government flourished under the statesman Pericles. Prior to about 600 BCE, Athens had been an oligarchy, with an aristocratic minority controlling its government. But enlightened Athenian leaders began instituting reforms to the city s government between 600 and 500 BCE. Solon (c. 638 558 BCE) introduced a new code of laws that was less harsh than Athens existing legal code (laid out by an Athenian statesman called Draco, hence the term draconian to describe repressive laws) , and also set up a Popular Assembly of Citizens, although a council of aristocrats still made the laws. Cleisthenes (c. 570 508 BCE) known as the Father of Democracy expanded democracy still further, creating a Council of 500, which consisted of 50 representatives from each Greek tribe. He ... African American sociology is defined as the critical study of the structure and functioning of the African American community as a whole, as well as the various units and processes which compose and define it, and its relations with people and the forces external to it (Karenga, 269). African American sociology involves the study of family, groups, institutions, views and values, relations of race, class and gender and related subjects. The African American community, like other communities, is defined by the sharing of common space. Parts of its common space, however, are bounded areas of living, such as ghettos, which not only close African Americans in the community, but simultaneously shuts them out from the access and opportunities available in the larger, predominately Caucasian society (Karenga, 302). The concept of isolation creates areas of poverty. Socially, isolation in ghettos prevents the cycle of diversity society, allowing prevailing stereotypes to surface. • 7. Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males produce smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is greater than that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by each of sexes to the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an instances where one sex contributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the other this sex will become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater loss of fitness if an importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male and female can provide care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine the degree to which the one sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences proved a clue about the intensity of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females contribute more to the offspring care and are the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual characteristics in terms of morphology and behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles are reversed. Though direct care is not common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by protecting the female after mating as observed in several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A definition of the debt crisis is also provided. Recommendations on the way forward are also provided. Introduction Debt crisis is noted by Pescatori and Sy (306) to be a term that had before 1990s been used to typically refer to defaults in debt serving. This definition however became very problematic with the emergence of the sovereign bond markets. Debt crisis therefore generally deals with nations as well as their ability to repay loans that they had earlier borrowed. The concept therefore deals with international loans, national economies as well as national budgeting. An accurate and definition of debt crisis does not exist since no standard definition has been advanced. The definitions of the term have generally been noted to have varied over time with various institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as well as Standard and poor (S P) providing their own views. The most basic definition and one which is generally accepted indicates that debt crisis is when a national government is not able to repay the debt that it owes as therefore resorts to seeking of some forms of assistance. Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not. Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond. A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain amount, with interest, to the bondholder. # Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital) stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Our history teacher, a plump middle aged woman we call Mrs. B, enters the room right before the bell rings to signal the start of class and apologizes for the smell, stating that someone in her previous class had vomited, and the janitor had to clean the area because of that. Mrs. B says that we can have a free day to do whatever we want since we did exceptionally well on a test yesterday. I choose to read a book; some of the girls in class decide to have a conversation with the teacher, during which they bring up seating arrangements at lunch. • 25. Zeno s Arguments Against Achilles One of Zeno s arguments about motion is called the Achilles. This well known argument is named after the one whom the argument says cannot possibly overtake the tortoise he is pursuing. This argument on Achilles helps show us how Zeno proved his point. He took a presupposition and then proved that it is, in fact, impossible. The argument starts with Achilles and the Tortoise having a race. And because Achilles is a swift and mighty warrior, and the Tortoise is heavy and slow, the Tortoise is given a head start of ten meters. However, with this advantage, the Tortoise will always be ahead of Achilles no matter how quick he catches up with it. In order to understand the way Zeno think, we will be analyzing this paradox of Achilles and the Tortoise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zeno put this in the argument so we can easily see the dilemma. If Achilles is faster, that should mean he would definitely overtake the Tortoise. But Zeno is giving the argument that whenever Achilles catches up to the animal, it would, at that moment, advances a certain distance. So by giving the Tortoise a head start, Achilles put himself in a situation where he can never catch up to his opponent. These lead us to the implicit premises underlying the argument about Achilles and the Tortoise. First, Achilles always takes some amount of time to cover a certain distance. And though the Tortoise is slow, it is always moving ahead. Because the animal covers some distance in every interval of time, it seems impossible to know the time at the end of which Achilles has caught the Tortoise. Therefore, we can infer from the premises that in each moment that Achilles must be catching up the distance between them, the Tortoise will be adding a new distance however ... A Comparison Of The Five Characters In The Catcher In The Rye Today I m dining with 5 characters from the novel The Catcher in the Rye, who I consider close friends; the characters are Holden Caulfield, Ackley, Jane Gallagher, Phoebe Caulfield, and Stradlater. By the end of our Chinese dinner we all received a fortune cookie! The first to open their fortune cookies was Holden. His fortune said, Don t be unreal, this is only appropriate for Holden because throughout the book he struggles with accepting reality and learning how to cooperate with it. Ackley struggles to open his fortune cookie, but he got there. His fortune said, Lying is always your first choice, but it will become your last resort once you become the lie yourself. This made complete sense considering Ackley was always lying about his sexual encounters; he kept his message to himself. Jane opens hers to see a surprise, You know you re respected and loved, embrace it. Jane is one of the few people Holden enjoys. This gave a hint to Jane, it left her puzzled. Phoebe, Holden s younger sister opened her fortune cookie with a sly look on her face. She read her fortune aloud, Sunshine. She got this message because her innocence would be the sunlight to Holden s day. Soon the sexy bastard (a nickname Holden gave to his roommate Stradlater) at the table got to his fortune cookie. This man, Louis Pasteur, succeeded in his medical investigations and continued to pursue his interest, despite objections given to him by his peers. The timeless work of Louis Pasteur in the areas of chemistry and microbiology provided the necessary foundation for the scientific study of immunology and stressed the importance of possessing a thorough understanding of the procedures involved in medical treatment. Background On December 27, 1822, Louis Pasteur was born to a family of leather tanners (Lamont, Cohn). As a child, Pasteur showed no scientific potential whatsoever (Cohn). However, he did have a talent for art, and it is possible that this particular interest could have influenced his appreciation for detail in his later years (Lamont). Many of his teachers suggested that he follow in his father s footsteps. As time progressed, Pasteur developed an interest in the field of science. Starting from this point in his life, Pasteur demonstrated the characteristic of rising above his expectations. Even though he was the son of a leather tanner, Pasteur did not give up and live a simple life. The theme of a work is often a statement about life and the human condition. In the play Trifles by Susan Glaspell, the theme noticing the little things can make a difference can be explained through plot, character, and setting. The theme can be developed through the plot. In Trifles, Mr. Wright was found murdered in his bed, so the police arrested his wife. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, neighbors of the Wrights, went to Mrs. Wright s house to pick up some things for her while she was in jail. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wright as the murderer. Along with plot, character can help develop the theme. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters say that Mrs. Wright used to be lively and social, and used to sing in the choir. However, Mrs. Wright now stays in her home most of the time. The women also say that Mr. Wright was a hard man. He might have made Mrs. Wright give up her friends and her singing. When Mrs. Wright got a canary, Mr. Wright might have strangled it because he did not like its singing. Mrs. Wright might then have murdered Mr. Wright for taking away the one thing she had left. Setting can also be used to develop the theme. The setting in the play was Mrs. Wright s kitchen. The Wrights house was isolated, down in a hollow. The isolation, coupled with not going to town any more, might have felt terrible for Mrs. Wright. In the 1920 s, the woman s place was traditionally in the kitchen, so any clues about Mrs. Wright would be in her kitchen. She had left a mess out in the kitchen: a half wiped table, unwashed pots and pans, a dishtowel lying out, and a misplaced loaf of bread. Mrs. Wright would only have left a mess if she was in a hurry or was interrupted, such as by Mr. Wright coming in and killing the canary. The tragic hero needs his errors in judgment for a phenomenal effect of audience realization to occur. Oedipus tries to prevent his terrible fate from occurring after it is prophesized to Laius, his father, early on; he leaves the city of his foster parents as a preventative measure. In more detail, acid rain is a type of precipitation that has mixtures of wet and dry materials coming from the atmosphere, which includes more nitric and sulfuric acids (Conserve Energy Future: Acid Rain). Acid rain can also be written as Acid Deposition because the acid rain could come down as other precipitation, for instance, snow.
