Francisco Goya The Terrible Monster Comparison
The following essay is going to examine works by Francisco Goya (1746 1828) and Kathe
Kollwitz (1867 1945). These artists lived in different times and cultures, yet had remarkably
similar styles in several of their works. The two artworks that will be in focus are Goya s
Horrible Monster (From the Disasters of War series 1806 1820) and Kollwitz s Death, woman,
and child (1910). These works will be compared and contrasted to discover the similarities and
differences between each of their meanings, the artistic elements and principles used, their handling
of materials and techniques, and their individual styles. Both of these works have a dark nature
depicted within it. Goya s Horrible Monster displays a large beast as the main object... Show more

Horrible Monster is an etching which achieved a slightly scratchy look, with a more illustrated in
some parts, as well as the lines themselves being darker. To achieve this finish, he had to cover a
metal plate with an acid resistant coating and then scratch through creating the desired lines. The
plate is then immersed in a pool of acid which eats through the spaces which have been scratched
clean. The acid darkens and widens the line, depending on how long it is in the acidic pool. On the
other hand, Kollwitz underwent the aquatint method. This achieved a finish that is softer, and has
an overlaying grain to it. Aquatinting is when you apply a fine resin dust to the surface of a metal
plate, which is then heated from below. The dust then melts to form protective spots on the plate.
When the etching process happens, the acid bites around each

Using Data From The British Election Study
This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has
responses from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of
questions regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include
responses for voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter
towards left or right, taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration,
economic status and so forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and
Likert scale questions on a scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and
the variety of information asked, this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which
will be targeted towards specific areas, and which can be proved or disproved through use of
cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained in the survey. It has been noted that the economic
status of a voter tends to impact the political leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried
out in the USA that wage levels were an indicator of voter preferences where people who earned
less than $70,000 noted to lean towards the liberal, Democratic Party, while those who earned more
tended to be more conservative in leaning towards the Republican Party (Thompson, 2012). Another
study conducted in Malaysia concluded that voters consider the economic conditions of the country
before voting for a government, and

Ralph Ellison Said Hung The Bird On Charlie
1.The first two sentences contain qualifiers because Ellison is providing multiple theories for the
nickname and these qualifiers leave room for doubt and alternative explanations. 2.Ellison
suggests that his audience might be fans of the animated cartoons because he is assuming his
readers are fans of jazz, and would appreciate animated cartoons as well due to the fact that both
are a part of pop culture. 3.Ellison suggests that a book about bird watching might be more
edifying than a biography of Parker because he thinks that a book about bird watching could better

Prosecution Opening Statement
The Prosecution s Opening Statement
The prosecution opens their case by making a speech to the jury. He introduces himself and states
that he is appearing on behalf of the prosecution and introduces the attorney appearing on behalf of
the defence. The prosecution will outline each offence and the evidence the jury will hear in
proving this. The prosecutions speech sets out the burden of proof and the standard of proof
which they have to prove in order to secure a conviction in the case. This is specific to the offence
and will be based on the elements of the offence necessary to show the defendant s guilt. The
prosecution s opening statement is a summary of the case at hand and the evidence in which they
intend to adduce to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant indeed committed the crime

The questioning of witnesses generally falls within three stages which are the examination in
chief, cross examination and the re examination. The first stage, examination in chief, is the
questioning of a witness by the party calling him .In examination in chief the party calling a
witness, or counsel on his behalf, will seek to elicit evidence which supports his version of the
facts in issue. The witnesses, who have been summoned, will be called on a one by one basis.
These witnesses will not be allowed to sit in, communicate, or listen to the trial until they have
given their evidence to the court. The witnesses will be taken to the witnesses stand and will
normally remain standing until they have finished giving evidence. They will be sworn in to the
effect, on the bible or by affirming, that the evidence they are about to give is the truth. The
prosecution will then ask the witness a series of questions. This is generally intended for the
witnesses to deliver their account of the events in relation to the

Mr Frank Gilbreth Essay
Mr. Frank Gilbreth, Sr. once said, There is no waste in the world that equals the waste from
needless, ill directed, and ineffective motions. As an efficiency expert, he often expected much from
his children. Many critics feel that it is unfair for parents to require so much from their children as
the Gilbreths did, but the Gilbreth dozen turned out to be exceptionally successful.
All the Gilbreth children graduated from college, but what did they do next? Anne married, raised
3 children, and was active in various community organizations. Unfortunately, Mary died at the
age of five from diphtheria. Ernestine married, raised two children, became a retail buyer, an
author of more than 5 books, and a lecturer. Martha married, raised four children, and became a
homemaker who was involved in numerous community services. Frank married, raised three
children, and became naval officer, a journalist, a newspaper editor, and an author of more than

Artifacts in Computer Science
Computers are what run society today, everywhere we look we see devices that are run off of
computers and microcomputers such as phones, computers, tablets, and even vehicles. It is now the
way the world communicates with each other, because of computers it is a much smaller world in
which we live. Computers have been around for such a short period of time, yet they seem to be
advancing faster than anything else; this is because there is an infinite number of ways computers
can be implemented to help individuals. Thirty years after the first computerwas developed,
computers had already been altered to read and save information on magnetic tapes that ran
through the computer. The picture below was taken at East Carolina University (ECU) in the mid
1970 s of a man changing tapes in a tape computer (Computer Data Tapes). 40 years after this
picture was taken, this form of computers is almost unrecognizable by society today, due to
dramatic advancements in computer technology. When the first programmable mainframe
computer was built in 1946, the technology was utilized to help people with mathematical
calculations, problem solving, and could even run small simple simulations while only taking up
1,000 square feet (Bestofmedia). Prior to the 1950 s, vacuum tubes had been used in all
computers to indicate on or off for processing. In the early 1950 s transistors which used less
energy, produced less heat, and were more reliable swept the computer field, making vacuum tubes

Analysis Of The Book The Wizard Of Oz
The Wizard of OZomoness There is no place like home, Which could not be more true for the
most of us, is a famous quote from The Wizard Of OZ, a movie about a girl who finds herself in a
world different from hers, wishing to return to her farm in Kansas. Along the way, she discovers
many things about herself that she never thought she was capable of. Although her time in the Land
of OZwas just a dream, it sends powerful messages. Not only that there is no place like home,
but that in our dreams we realize who we are. The outside world never sees who we truly are or
what makes us happy. We feel a need to conform to society and act how other people act, so that
we don t stand out. Why wouldn t people express themselves for who they truly are? Bird
Clarkson, a man on a mission, seems to ask a similar question. Clarkson, a faculty member in the
Communication and ARTS Department at Central Michigan University, entered a piece in the
ArtPrize 2016 competition in Grand Rapids (MI) named The Wizard of Ozomoness. It is an
interpretive dance play of sorts that is meant to get kids or people alike to express themselves and
let them know that their dreams can come true. The piece we chose was the backdrop of the
Emerald Citythat is meant for this play and we evaluated how its appearance and representation of a
dream world further emphasized the meaning of the piece. We proved this by interpreting its
physical attributes, with interviews with people observing the piece and with a

The Existence Of Aliens In Area 51
Most of us have heard about the mysterious Area 51 and the rumors of the Aliens and UFOs that
are hidden within. However, these rumors are not true. There is evidence that shows that there are
no extraterrestrial beings in Area 51. Before a reader can understand this essay, they must first
know a little background about the subject. In 1955, land was added to an existing grid of the
AEC s Atomic Test Site. This land was named Area 51. Over time, things such as accommodations
for personnel and a runway were added. For a long time, what went on in Area 51 was kept top
secret. This caused many people to speculate that the government was hiding things such as aliens

a science fiction theme. However, development did not go as well as was hoped. Valve had
trouble finding a publisher to distribute their games. Considering they were just a couple of guys
chasing a dream, publishers were not willing to take the risk on a fledgling developer.
Fortunately for Valve, publisher Sierra Online was shopping around for a first person action
game and was impressed with the team at Valve. They signed on with Valve to a one game deal.
With a publisher willing to distribute their games, Valve was ready to reveal their game at the
largest gaming convention in the world, The Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3) in 1997. The
showing of Half Life was a big success among gaming fans and critics alike. The buzz generated
at the show almost guaranteed the success of the product. However, by November of 1997, the
deadline was quickly approaching and the team at Valve was not satisfied with the product they
had created. In their year of work on Half Life they had learned so much that had not been
implemented into the game. Newell and Harrington took a huge risk by deciding it would be best
to scrap almost their entire year s worth of work to go back and implement many of the new things
they had learned. Their publisher, Sierra, was furious and this nearly ended the partnership between
them. Newell and Harrington dug deep into their own

Cultural Competence Of Law Enforcement Agencies
Discussion
Although the questionnaire and interview processes are useful in gaining a better understanding of
the cultural competence of law enforcement agencies, they are not helpful in improving the cultural
competency of those agencies. This is where instituting mandatory cultural competency training
comes into play. For example, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission proposed steps and
recommendations to increase cultural competency and one of those steps was to develop and
deploy effective EEO and diversity/inclusion training for different state and local law enforcement
audiences, including department leadership, human resources, and hiring officials, union
leadership, and individual officers. (Yang, 2015). While this recommendation pertains to hiring
practices, it would also be very beneficial for law enforcement agencies to have trainings. Cultural
competency training is important and would greatly improve relations between law enforcement
and the community.
A study by the Pew Research Center found that very few people in the U.S. say police forces do
well in treating people equally. (Pew Research Center, 2014). It is likely that the results from the
Pew study would be similar if the study were limited to Texas. Perhaps the results would be even
worse in Texas in light of the recent incident in which officer Miller shot and killed Christian
Taylor. The study illustrates how poorly the public views law enforcement in regards to treating
people equally. Studies

The Twentieth Century And The American Century Essay
To what extent was the twentieth century the American century ?
The first President of the United States of America, George Washington, dreamed of a future where
The United States would Possess the strength of a Giant and there will be none who can make [her]
afraid. More than two hundred years later the United States has achieved global power, that would
even surpass Washington s wildest imaginings. The twentieth century was greatly dominated by
The United States, being one of the two superpowers for several decades, and then the only hyper
power to see the twentieth century. Now in the Twenty first century, we can truly look back and see
the extent of how much the United States influenced the 20th century, and see why it is regarded to
as the American Century .
The twentieth century truly began to reveal itself as the American century after the end of World
War Two. To get there the United States had to get through two World Wars and the biggest
economic disaster the world has seen.
After the Spanish American War, the American government chose to adopt isolationism in order to
build up its navy and industry. When President Theodore Roosevelt came to term in 1901, speed
up the United States into a direction of foreign involvement. As he wanted to spread the influence
and reputation of the United States in the world and see the United States become a global power.

In Tortilla Curtain, Candido and America have a very difficult time living in Los Angeles. Being
illegal immigrants is harder than they thought. Delaney Mossbacher, a middle class man, hit
Candido Rincon, a Mexican immigrant, with his car as he was crossing the road. Candido was
badly injured, but accepted twenty dollars from Delaney and ended up going their own ways.
Delaney, his wife, and stepson, Jordan, live their routine life in a neighborhood called Arroyo

from liberal humanist to racist elitist. This incident also turned Candido from a diligent immigrant

To America, the American dream was not living in a huge, fancy house, but to have a house, a
yard, maybe a TV and a car too nothing fancy, no palaces like the gringos built just four walls
and a roof (Boyle 29). The typical immigrant does not come to American with the intentions of
becoming wealthy. They come to American to have a better opportunity in life. To be able to
own a home, work and have a family. According to The New York Times, The phrase American
dream was invented during the Great Depression. It comes from a popular 1931 book by the
historian James Truslow Adama, who defines it as, that dream of a land in while life should be
better and richer and fuller for everyone. In the decades that followed, the dream became a reality.
Thanks to rapid, widely shared economic growth, nearly all children grew up to achieve the most
basic definition of a better life earning more money and enjoying higher living standards than their
parents had. Learning that us Americans are likely to achieve the American dream shows that it is
all that much more difficult for immigrants and even more so for illegal immigrants. T.C Boyle, in
Tortilla Curtain, attempts to show the separation between the American dream of the community of
immigrants and the American dream of the whites.
In the book, immigrants gather each and every day at a place called the labor exchange in hopes
that someone will need workers in need to cheap labor. Most of the days, the men

The Advantages And Effects Of Pips In Nigeria
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.0BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY The state of
insecurity in Nigeria is becoming worrisome considering the high rate at which innocent people
fall victim of criminals. News of crimes including armed robbery, terrorism and bombings,
kidnapping are on the increasing by the day. Not a week passes without occurrence of such
incidences on the streets. Now, even in broad day light, crimes are committed, murder is
perpetrated without resolution. Even the police seems helpless. Considering the foregoing, there
is a need for parents and care givers to constantly monitor the whereabouts of their children or
clients. People should also track their mobility pattern and history. Several technologies are
available for the purpose of localizing a person. A GPS is locator/receiver available on most
smart phones and can be used to roughly locate a user. However, it comes with its drawback. The
GPS is unavailability indoors. Its usage is limited inside buildings and places unreachable by

GPS is a popular choice for modern mobile positioning, mainly due to it s high level of accuracy.
GPS is normally accurate within 1 10 meters, although one of the challenges of using GPS as a

the satellite, and that performance deteriorates in thickly populated urban areas. While at first this
disadvantage may not seem a problem, if a direct line of sight between a satellite and the Android

A Research Study On Regenerative Medicine
Aging, injuries and diseases like dystrophies are all ensue respectively from dying, damaged or
malfunctioning specialised cells. Nowadays, researchers aim at finding possible methods to treat
patients by understanding better how diseases develop. Regenerative medicine is an emerging
field that had known incredible advances over the last 20 years. It s a broad interdisciplinary field
aiming at repairing, regenerating or replacing damaged, malfunctioning or missing cells and tissues
leading to restore normal function in patients. The remarkable progresses made in stem celltherapy,
gene therapy and bioengineering, and the intersection of these domains are the basis of this

The basis of tissue engineering involves the production of stem cell, progenitor or precursor cells
from embryonic or adult origin, which will induce the regeneration of tissues and organs. The
following step is to create biocompatible matrices or scaffolds for the conduction of the signal.
These matrices or scaffolds must be able to sustain cell proliferation and differentiation as well as
the vascular ingrowth and the unification the new tissue with the surrounding host tissue.
Additionally, they must have the capacity to adequately degrade concurrent with tissue
regeneration. Then, the induction of growth factors or signalling proteins will activate the
proliferation and differentiation of the stem cells. Finally the mechanical stimulation by
biochemical forces like shear or strain. Scaffolds can be made in different types of materials like
bioceramics, membrane, fibres, foams hydrogels...
Another approach of regenerative medicine is the possibility to grow tissues and organs in the
laboratory directly from the patient s cells and implanting them in case the body cannot heal itself;
thus, avoiding problems of organs available for donation and transplant rejection. The term
regeneration is therefore used to describe the process of replacing the loss of specialized tissue by
proliferating undamaged specialized cells. The finality of this medicine is to imitate nature s
capacity avoiding a maximum of

Toyota s Lean Manufacturing Process
Prior to Toyota s Production System, the company was efficient, yet could not compete with large
American competitors such as General Motors and Ford. Therefore, management realized that if
the company was to be successful not only in Japan, but globally it would need to improve its
manufacturing process. Consequently, the company developed Toyota s lean manufacturing
process, which is still used today. The LMP was used to eliminate waste in the entire production
process to become more responsive to market demand and produce high quality products
economically. In order to provide superior products, Toyota implemented many revolutionary
strategies. For example, the company started, or invented, the Just in Time Manufacturing process.
The JIT process, according to our text, is used to reduce inventory costs by scheduling supplies to
arrive just in time to enter the production process or as inventory stock is depleted (Hill et al.,
2015). Toyota used the just in time system to improve its supply chain management, which
drastically decreased costs and increased the company s production facilities output as compared to
its competitors. In addition to JIT, the company introduced a concept known as Kanbanthat was
included within the new JIT system. The Kanban system was developed by Ohno and was used to
arrange for components and/or assemblies manufactured at Toyota to be delivered to the assembly
floor only when needed, not before (Hill et al., 2015). Essentially the Kanban

one of these types. A formative assessment takes place either during the lesson or before, as a

benefit of formative testing is that teachers can see what they should improve on in their lessons to

The students are then given a score. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand the score without a
knowledge of the vocabulary that comes with standardized testing. Important topics to
understand with standardized testing include, normal distribution, percentile rank, and grade
equivalent scores. A normal distribution is a bell curve. This is where many scores fall in the
middle and fewer fall towards the tails. Percentile rank is a score showing how well you did
compared to others. For example, if you are in the 80th percentile, this means that 80% of people

scores show the average of how people of a certain test scored. It then takes your score and
compares it to that average. If you scored above the average, your grade level score will be

Jungle Stereotypes In Little Black Sambo, Betty Boop,
Surprisingly, I personally thought the idea of observing these cartoons with a third eye was

Between the two cartoons Little Black Sambo, Betty Boop, All this Rabbit Stew, and Jungle Jitters

Little Black Sambo and Jungle Jitters were very similar plus they both had that jungle stereotype.

the next. This makes it hard for a change of culture to manifest but one change the hospital has
made, manifested perfectly. At our hospital there use to be a no scrub policy, meaning you could
wear any type of scrub color you wanted to. As time went on this made things very hard on patients
and managers, to realize what department the employee was under and what their job title was. The
hospitalas a whole came up with the great idea of color coding each department with a specific
color. This made things a lot easier on patients and managers. Not only did they enjoy it but the
employees loved it because it gave them a sense of empowerment, that people knew what
department they were from and what their job title was.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think it is best to describe in the two minute video when Jon Katzenbach said, When an
organization is at its best a corporation is going to energize their employees and it s going to make
people feel good, about what they do to advance the strategic operations of the company. Jon also
said when this happens, it s really an emotional energizer that you can t get anywhere else. I agree
with Jon on this because he attacks the behaviors before attacking the culture. That is why I think
the above example about the scrubs is a perfect example. The hospital not only attack a culture with
change but they first and more importantly attack an emotional commitment to the employee and in
doing so this made the culture change energized and

How Did Constantine Make A Collage About Christianity
Constantine, the son of Constantius I Chlorus, junior emperor and St. Helena, was raised on the
court of co Emperor Diocletian. When his father died in 306, Constantine was declared junior
emperor of York, England. He got his power from his father when he became caesar. Constantine
was left with Galerius in the court of the emperor Diocletian. When Diocletian and Maximian had
to resign in 305, they made Constantine and Galerius emperor. There are two emperors, because
one has to stay and govern the land and the other has to go out and win wars and earn land. Most
of the time, you get to be emperor when your father resigns, but you could also be emperor if the
people want you to lead them. On one of my slides, I made a collage about christianity, because
Constantine made the first Roman church council. This boosted the religion of christianity,
because many people wanted to be like their leader, and so many people came to know Christ. He
also created the first church in Rome, because he was already a christian.... Show more content on

San Juan Argentina Research Paper
Ever since we where young, most of our parents would remind us to appreciate what we have
and that we should realize how luck we are. I remember all the lectures I would receive from my
parents and my teachers whenever I acted spoiled or selfish. The never failed to mention that I was
very lucky and that I should never take people, technology and my living situation for granted. Until
my trip to San Juan, Argentina, I never fully understood what my parents had meant. That trip
really put into perspective how lucky I was and it taught me how to appreciate the things I had.

We drove to my uncle, Mauricio s house, which was where we were going to be staying. His
house was a lot more like the houses in the U.S., the outside sidewalk was paved, the inside was
tiled, the walls were painted, and there were air conditioners in all of the rooms of the house.
Despite its very put together appearance, it was not exactly the same as the houses in my
neighborhood in Florida. There were wires coming out of holes in the walls and there wasn t
any Internet connection except for in one room. Once I had settled in my cousin s room I took
out my charger and looked for an outlet, upon finding an outlet I noticed that the holes in the
outlet where round instead of rectangular. My cousin noticed my distress and let me borrow her
charger that matched the outlet. It took me a while to get accustomed to how different it was in
San Juan. The first week consisted of sweating, useless phones, and lack of communication with
the outside world. All of my electronics where completely useless and it really threw me of my
original daily routine. I had to remember to kiss everyone once on each cheek when greeting
them. At times I would forget to do so and my parents would later scold me and tell me that I
came off as rude or impolite. Then I had to help wash all of our laundry in the stream and then
put it on the clothesline to dry. The first few times I washed my clothes I accidentally let some
get carried away by the stream and I had to chase the clothes down for a couple of blocks. I had
to do the dishes instead of using a dishwasher and on more than one occasion I had dropped a
plate. I also had to wake up for breakfast, then lunch and then find a way to entertain myself
without electronics for three hours until siesta or nap time was over. Siesta, was from 12 a.m. to

The Association Between Primary And Secondary Psychopathy...
This study used a correlation design to investigate the association between primary and secondary
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. 452 first year psychology students completed Levenson, Kiehl
and Fitzpatrick s (1995) Levenson self report Psychopathy scale (LSRP) and Baron Cohen,
Wheelwright, Hill, Raste and Plumb s (2001) Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET). A
significant negative correlation was found between primary psychopathyand empathy while the
correlation for secondary psychopathy and empathy was insignificant. From this it can be
concluded that primary psychopaths are worse at empathising than secondary psychopaths.
Association between Primary and Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy
Psychopathy is a disorder which can be split into two subtypes, primary and secondary. Primary
psychopathy is typified by callous, manipulative, selfish and untruthful behaviour (Karpman, 1948,
as cited in Levenson, Kiehl Fitzpatrick, 1995). Secondary psychopathy is associated with anxiety,
introversion, low self esteem and moodiness (Blackburn Fawcett, 1999 as cited by Ali Chamorro
Premuzic, 2010). Cognitive empathy is described as the being able to understand and infer
emotions of others (Joliffee Farrington, 2004 as cited by Ali Chamorro Premuzic). Understanding
the association between Psychopathy and Empathy is an area of interest as it provides insight on
how to effectively rehabilitate psychopaths; if they are showing the

Descriptive Essay About Mama Haoua
Every time I see my mother I have the benefit of taking in her beauty. My mother s light brown
eyes are bright and lovely so that the richness of her mind and soul there shines. They flash red

Her abundant black curls fall softly on her beautiful face and feel softly upon my cheeks
whenever I hug her. She has loving hands that are so gentle, so kind, so soft that have toiled

Essay On The Composition Of Capital Inflows
In figure 3, Cho and Rhee (2014) show the composition of capital flows for all 10 Asian
Countries excluding Hong Kong and Singapore. While the FDI was quiet stable, the portfolio
investment part decreased from 2.2% of GDP in 2007 to 2.9% in 2008. Also, the other
investment part of capital inflows, like bank loans, declined since 2007; nevertheless, it
rebounded over than the pre crisis level and became the major source of capital inflows after
GFC. Cho and Rhee (2014) explain the composition of capital inflows by individual country in
figure 4. It is easily to notice that both financial hubs, Hong Kong and Singapore, have more than
10% of GDP which was led by other investment part. In terms of two G2 countries, Japan and

Increasing money impacts Asian economy on capital flows and on either exchange rates or
housing prices significantly. The result of this section is quiet interesting. The QE of US brought
huge capital inflows into Asian economies. There are two ways that it can influence: 1) a large
amount money flows into the emerging markets to buy their currencies which investors expected
they would increase values relative to USD; then, the expectation caused the appreciation of
currencies. 2) however, if the central banks of some certain economies try to stabilize their
exchange rates not to appreciate, the effect of QE would show in the housing markets, the most
important household assets in most Asian countries. In real terms, Cho and Rhee (2014) indicates
in the figure 5 that the housing prices nearly double in Hong Kong and India since the fourth
quarter in 2008 to 2012. Also, in Taiwan, the housing prices rose by almost 60%. In Malaysia, it
increased by around 30%. Economies with stable or rigid exchanges suffer from large increasing in
the housing prices. Figure 6, calculated by Cho and Rhee (2014), demonstrates the relationship
between exchange rates and housing prices. From the figure 6, it is obvious that Japan is an outlier.
As a result, we show two situations in the figure 6, with and without Japan. Including Japan in the
calculation, the correlation coefficient between exchange rates and housing prices is o.84.

Analysis Of The Poem The Scarlett Letter By Nathaniel...
The view of nature changed during the course of time periods and throughout my seven reading
reflections. I started my reflections during colonial time with The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel
Hawthorn. During the puritan era nature was seen as a sin. The forest where Hester and
Dimmesdale reconnected their love was seen as the place where the black man lives . Embracing
natureand its carefreeness was seen as a dreadful decision, and this changed over time. On the other
hand, my second journal was all about imagery and the beauty of nature. Walt Whitmans I Saw in

This is a transformation from the previous journal and the peacefulness of Mother Nature that
was described. After Crane, the next journal is about a well known poem by Robert Frost
Stopping by the woods on a Snowy Evening . Nature in this poem is seen as a place that pulls
the narrator away from reality, so much that he considers ending his own life. This poem is full
of beautiful New England imagery. The snow blanket covering the forest can be a deadly
concealment over the narrator. He does not seem to mind that he is mentally getting lost in
nature s exquisiteness. The poem leaves the reader on edge because it does not actually say if the
man left this captivating place or if he is literally consumed by its magnificence. This is a
modernist poem due to the fact it can be taken in so many ways and leaves us with no answer.
Next I reflected on Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River . Nick, a war veteran, compares
himself to numerous aspects of nature, including soot covered grasshoppers. Nick feels a bond
with these insects due to the fact they were both hurt and have a layer of hurt over them. Nick had
a special spot in the forest before he left for the war. When he came back he felt the same special
feeling, which shows natures power and healing. Since returning from combat he feels more
respectful of nature and animals, not even wanted to hurt a fish. Even though Nick is delighted

are poems in which the speaker (a son in both cases) attempts to explain his complex relationship
with his father. It seems that the two poets are reflecting back in their early lives as young boys

about a boyand that is excited that his father got home to play with him. Only problem is the
speakers father is drunk and it hard to enjoy himself but he held on because the unconditional love

The impression that I get from My Papa s Waltz is that the boy s father is an alcoholic and
irresponsible. I say this because as the father and the boy were playing around in the kitchen The
unconscious father could of drop a hot pan that the mother could have been cooking on and
cause serious damage. That to me shows that the father don t really think about the possibilities.
On the contrary Those Winter Sundays Sundays too my father got up early (1) shows that the
father is a hard workingman, that everyday of the week he is up early with cracked hands that
ached / from labor in the weekday weather made (3 4). The speaker s father is a man that did hard
labor to keep heat in the house and also made sure his son was looking sharp for example, polished
my good shoes as well (12). Overall he was very responsible and loving even though the speaker
didn t think so at the time seeing that he didn t show appreciation and no one ever thanked him (5).
When it comes to the mood the speakers portray different attitudes towards their fathers. In My

Raiders Of The Lost Ark Film Analysis Essay
Raiders of the Lost Ark The film Raiders of the Lost Ark was directed by Steven Spielberg in 1981.
It is the first film in a series of films that follow the adventures of archaeologist and professor
Indiana Jones. Some proclaim the Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the best action/adventure
movies of all time. Since its release, the film has grossed $389 million worldwide and is ranked #40
on the top rated movies list on IMDB.
Mise en Scene:
Raiders of the lost Ark takes place in 1936. When comes down to the settings, lighting, music,
costumes and the way everyone acts in this film, everything works together to get an overall feel
that the time really is the 1936. The costumes look like outfits people would really wear during that
time and the music sounds right for that era.
In the very beginning of the film, viewers see Indiana Jones walking through the jungle with some
men. Although his face is not shown for the first couple of minutes you can tell that the man in
the fedora is an important character. It s never specifically mentioned that it is a jungle but there
are animal noises and plants in the background. Also, the lighting looks natural almost as if the
sun is shining through a thick canopy of trees. All the men look a little tired and their faces and
clothes look dirty. From the way the music sounds and the way they all look you can tell that they
are on some kind of quest, searching for something for what seems like a while.

Gaining Power Through Prowess In Machiavelli s The Prince
There are four ways in which a prince can rise to power: through prowess (virtu), fortune, crime,
or civil principality. When a prince rises to power through prowess, it means they gain power
through their own skills and abilities. When a prince rises to power through fortune, it means he
gained it through good luck or through money or favors of men. When comparing prowess and
fortune, the main difference is clear: gaining power through your own abilities or through those of
others. Gaining power through prowess is more difficult, but it s proves to be more stable.
Obtaining power through fortune is easy but unpredictable. When a prince uses his own skills he
can maintain a stable foundation for his rule rather than relying on others. Maintaining power is
proved easier through prowess, as Machiavelli also concludes. When obtaining power through...

plants just need more water than the others? If you don t, then perhaps you should revisit Kingdom
Plantae which happens to be everywhere, by the way. Every plant you encounter in your backyard
or park is unique, and like us, they need to be understood to flourish. And a big part of why plants
needs differ is because they might belong to different plant groups vascular or nonvascular group.
So, if you re interested in making your garden fruitful, you should learn the ... Show more content

Regarding the roots, nonvascular plants have unicellular roots while vascular plants have
complicated root structures that are, more or less, similar to the structure and function of the
vascular plants cell.

What makes the plants appealing and attractive? of course, it s the flowers that they bear! If you
need one visible indication of the difference between the vascular and nonvascular plants, then you
should look for the flowers.

/ Vascular plants have the ability to bear flowers since the flowers are crucial in their reproductive
cycle. Flowers contain both male and female parts that are essential for pollination. Without
pollination, no fruit or seed can ever be created. On the other hand, nonvascular plants do not
undergo pollination for reproduction, and so they don t have flowers.

The Text as Theology
In its original cultic sitz im leben, where the psalm would have been sung in antiphon, the
exhortation would have been directed toward the congregation in the liturgy, whereby they
would respond with the second part of each verse, the whole assembly telling the wondrous story
of YHWH s salvation of Israel. We too can join in this choral liturgy, seeing the thread that is
drawn from the pillars of the earth at creation, through Israel s history, to Christ s cross and
resurrection, even to our own day where we continue to see the salvation of YHWH in our midst.
The horizon of praise within this psalm appears to illuminate the difficult path the Israelites have
trod, and looks forward to the road of Christ life, all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning andat the end of the Psalm sits creation, YHWH s great gift by which and in
which we live, and through which He reveals Himself and His hesed, and is a point that connects
us all. Israel s history is become our history in Christ, and it stands as a testament to remind us of
everything YHWH has done, and continues to do for His people. The cross and resurrection were
not the last of His marvelous works, but YHWH has continued to act in the life of the church these
last 2000 years! Jesus is ever at work within our very midst as He builds His kingdom. He calls us
to remember where we as His people have been, and called to continue to keep all hope in the
future we have in heaven. Knowing YHWH s ever kept promises, and what awaits us when Christ
returns, We are moved to reach out our own arms in mighty ways, reaching out to all who are lost
and don t know the all surpassing, promise keeping, love and faithfulness of YHWH that endures

Importance Of Thanksgiving Essay
No matter who you are an experienced chef or a worshiper of the microwave preparing a
Thanksgiving dinner can be a stressful ordeal. Between relatives coming in from out of town and
making sure the turkey isn t pink, there s a lot to do, and a lot to multitask. Luckily, there are
ways to make your Thanksgiving preparations less of a chore. Take a look at these ten hacks
guaranteed to make your Thanksgiving just a but less stressful. You ve heard of washing potatoes in
the dishwasher if you haven t then there s another cookinghack for you but did you know you can
also cook them there too? Simply place your peeled and seasoned potatoes in a pocket of
aluminum foil making sure the pocket is air tight! Then spread the pockets along your... Show more

Simply roll out your pie dough and press the rack atop it the way you would a cookie cutter then
cut your dough along the impression. Now you ve got perfectly sized and even strips of dough
for that traditional lattice top pie just like grandma used to make.Having trouble keeping your
pie crust in shape but you don t want to buy a pie weight and really, we can t blame you there,
because when else would you honestly use a pie weight? Luckily, you can weigh that crust
down with rice! Simply place a sheet of parchment paper over your pie crust and then pour dry
rice over it until it s weighted the dough down into the perfect shape.Cooking takes time,
especially the multitasking type of cooking that comes with cooking an entire thanksgiving
dinner. You may have chopped your potatoes that morning, but suddenly three hours have gone
by courtesy of your relatives arriving and the cranberry sauce you were occupied with now your
potatoes have turned a bit brown. Keep your vegetables fresh for cooking by placing your cut or
peeled veggies in a bowl of cold water. This will keep them fresh until you re ready to cook
them.Lumps in the gravy are a major thanksgiving faux pas. However, you don t have to whisk
your gravy into submission in order to avoid this culinary disaster, simply pour your finished
gravy through a strainer. The strainer will catch all the excess lumps, leaving you with a thick,
smooth gravy your guests will love.Turkey cooking is tricky, especially when it comes to
cooking the bird easily this is where the roasting rack comes into play. The rack allows your
turkey to float above the bottom of the pan, letting the heat in your oven circulate evenly. However,
you don t need to spend tons of money on a roasting rack, simply roll up some aluminum foil and
space the rolls along the bottom of the pan, then set the turkey atop them.If cooking isn t

Child Abuse And Spousal Abuse
A term that is quite often used in today s society is family violence, more specifically child abuse
and spousal abuse. A term that is not heard often is elder abuse, which is unfortunate due to the
fact that it is a fairly common occurrence. It was estimated that in 2009, one in ten elderly
Americans were victims of elder abuse within the previous year (Acierno, 2010). Even though
elder abuse is prevalent here in America, it is seldom that this phenomenon is actually discussed.
According to the National Center on Elder Abuse, there are seven types of elder abuse: physical
abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, self neglect, and
abandonment (Fischer, 2012, p. 102). The American Medical Association defines elder abuse
and/or neglect as an act of commission or omission that results in harm or threatened harm to the
health or welfare of an older adult whether intentional or unintentional (Read, 2016, p. 32). In the
1950 s, public welfare officials were faced with an increasing number of older persons who were
unable to manage on their own and began to develop a new approach to providing services, which
they called protective service units (Bonnie Wallace, 2003, p. 238). Due to their interest, Congress
passed legislation, as part of the Social Security Act, providing funds to the states (Bonnie Wallace,
2003, p. 239) in order to set up these protective service units. In 1974, Congress amended the Social
Security Act,

Jazz Workshop And Class Material Essay
Jazz Workshop and Class Material The Jazz Workshop, Wednesday night, was conducted by
Professor Madsen. There were two other groups that performed before the workshop. Those were
two bands were the Rich Armandi Combo, coached by Rich Armandi, and the
Funk Combo, coached by Chris Madsen, and the Jazz Workshop, conducted by Professor Madsen,
and special guest Victor Garcia. All three groups did an outstanding job. They had many moments
that I could hear were very similar to what we have been learning in jazz history. It was interesting
to actually hear everything that was being taught in class being exercised in the concert. In this
paper I will be talking about the concert as well as the parallels that showed up in the concert that
relate back to what our class has been learning.
In the first group, the Rich Armandi Combo, did really well over all. When listening to the
combo there were many things that stood out. You can hear the basic jazz techniques, the drum
keeping time, he never stops or goes off beat. In the second song the combo performed Forest
Flower was very well done, the trumpet added to the song. I thought that some of the trumpet
playing sounded similar to Miles Davis. This was because the trumpeter was playing in a middle
register, but not to low. Just like Davis would play, the trumpet also had great a great sound for the
long notes she was playing in the pieces. The third song they performed

Spring Landscape With A Creek By Frantisek Kavan
Spring landscape with a creek is an impressionist oil painting by a Czech painter named
Frantisek Kavan in 1890. This piece of art is chosen because it portrays an image of a landscape
in which a creek of water is running through the meadows. The golden sun seems like taking a
bath in the water hedged by green fields where yellow flower buddings can be seen. This painting
shows the time of year when trees are saying goodbye to the winter season and are ready for life
to return with spring. It seems as if this painting is saying goodbye to the history and introducing
the new impressionistic art of 19th century. This painting is a simple landscape but it depicts the
basic elements of life that are needed by a human to survive rather than materialistic things.
Anyone who sees this painting is absorbed in it as the artist has painted it fresh which shows an
optimistic thought when the glance goes from deserted trees to the green meadows and the water
creek and finally to the flowers . This picture resembles a strong feeling of the presence of a
creator who rescues us from destruction to the spring of life when life is at its peak.
The third painting is a bit newer as compared to the previous two, which comes under the realm of
the 20th century. This detailed painting is titled as Urban landscape by Enric Pinet in 1934,
depicting multi colored and expressive urban landscape. This painting shows the development of
city life where nature is scarce and chimneys are exhaling

Ibm Db2 vs Oracle
For this week s paper I have chosen to do a comparison between IBM s DB2 database
management system (DBMS) product and Oracle. Realistically, making such a comparison is
akin to discussing religion with friends. Each person will have their own biases based on their
own experiences. Looking for an unbiased opinion is much like looking for the Holy Grail, every
bit as speculative and subjective with the results jaundiced by the outlook of the reporter (Lim,
2002).
A decision between DB2 and Oracle should be based on what resources are available for use at the
site. Is there specific hardware or software already onsite that can or will be used in the
installation, if so this will have a major impact on the decision making process. Does the ... Show

Then the TPC can produce benchmarks to measure transaction processing and database
performance. Typical performance measures are transactions per second and transactions per
minute on a given system and database (Chigrik, 2003).
For Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), the TPC C benchmark is the most current and is the
standard that DBMS s are measured against. When Oracle 9i and IBM DB2 v8.1 were ran head to
head processing the same transactions, Oracle held all of the top 5 spots in the TPC C. Unless
an organization runs a very large database, the key areas that Oracle won the TPC C benchmarks
on won t matter to the same degree as they would in for a large database. Newer versions of both
RDBMS have made the field more competitive with the top five positions split between them,
Oracle holding only three of five currently (TPC, 2005).
With a statistical dead heat in performance except in very large databases, pricing becomes an
issue for both DBMS. Comparing the standard edition of Oracle 9i to the workgroup edition of
DB2 v8.1, Oracle is double the cost all the way from one processor up to thirty two. When
comparing Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition to DB2 Enterprise Edition v8.1; pricing for Oracle is just
slightly less than double that of DB2 until you go above four processors then difference shifts

  • 2. Francisco Goya The Terrible Monster Comparison The following essay is going to examine works by Francisco Goya (1746 1828) and Kathe Kollwitz (1867 1945). These artists lived in different times and cultures, yet had remarkably similar styles in several of their works. The two artworks that will be in focus are Goya s Horrible Monster (From the Disasters of War series 1806 1820) and Kollwitz s Death, woman, and child (1910). These works will be compared and contrasted to discover the similarities and differences between each of their meanings, the artistic elements and principles used, their handling of materials and techniques, and their individual styles. Both of these works have a dark nature depicted within it. Goya s Horrible Monster displays a large beast as the main object... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horrible Monster is an etching which achieved a slightly scratchy look, with a more illustrated in some parts, as well as the lines themselves being darker. To achieve this finish, he had to cover a metal plate with an acid resistant coating and then scratch through creating the desired lines. The plate is then immersed in a pool of acid which eats through the spaces which have been scratched clean. The acid darkens and widens the line, depending on how long it is in the acidic pool. On the other hand, Kollwitz underwent the aquatint method. This achieved a finish that is softer, and has an overlaying grain to it. Aquatinting is when you apply a fine resin dust to the surface of a metal plate, which is then heated from below. The dust then melts to form protective spots on the plate. When the etching process happens, the acid bites around each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Using Data From The British Election Study This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has responses from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right, taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and the variety of information asked, this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas, and which can be proved or disproved through use of cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained in the survey. It has been noted that the economic status of a voter tends to impact the political leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried out in the USA that wage levels were an indicator of voter preferences where people who earned less than $70,000 noted to lean towards the liberal, Democratic Party, while those who earned more tended to be more conservative in leaning towards the Republican Party (Thompson, 2012). Another study conducted in Malaysia concluded that voters consider the economic conditions of the country before voting for a government, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As an efficiency expert, he often expected much from his children. Artifacts in Computer Science Computers are what run society today, everywhere we look we see devices that are run off of computers and microcomputers such as phones, computers, tablets, and even vehicles. It is now the way the world communicates with each other, because of computers it is a much smaller world in which we live. Computers have been around for such a short period of time, yet they seem to be advancing faster than anything else; this is because there is an infinite number of ways computers can be implemented to help individuals. Thirty years after the first computerwas developed, computers had already been altered to read and save information on magnetic tapes that ran through the computer. The picture below was taken at East Carolina University (ECU) in the mid 1970 s of a man changing tapes in a tape computer (Computer Data Tapes). 40 years after this picture was taken, this form of computers is almost unrecognizable by society today, due to dramatic advancements in computer technology. When the first programmable mainframe computer was built in 1946, the technology was utilized to help people with mathematical calculations, problem solving, and could even run small simple simulations while only taking up 1,000 square feet (Bestofmedia). Prior to the 1950 s, vacuum tubes had been used in all computers to indicate on or off for processing. In the early 1950 s transistors which used less energy, produced less heat, and were more reliable swept the computer field, making vacuum tubes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of The Book The Wizard Of Oz The Wizard of OZomoness There is no place like home, Which could not be more true for the most of us, is a famous quote from The Wizard Of OZ, a movie about a girl who finds herself in a world different from hers, wishing to return to her farm in Kansas. Along the way, she discovers many things about herself that she never thought she was capable of. Although her time in the Land of OZwas just a dream, it sends powerful messages. Not only that there is no place like home, but that in our dreams we realize who we are. The outside world never sees who we truly are or what makes us happy. We feel a need to conform to society and act how other people act, so that we don t stand out. Why wouldn t people express themselves for who they truly are? Bird Clarkson, a man on a mission, seems to ask a similar question. Clarkson, a faculty member in the Communication and ARTS Department at Central Michigan University, entered a piece in the ArtPrize 2016 competition in Grand Rapids (MI) named The Wizard of Ozomoness. It is an interpretive dance play of sorts that is meant to get kids or people alike to express themselves and let them know that their dreams can come true. The piece we chose was the backdrop of the Emerald Citythat is meant for this play and we evaluated how its appearance and representation of a dream world further emphasized the meaning of the piece. Fortunately for Valve, publisher Sierra Online was shopping around for a first person action game and was impressed with the team at Valve. They signed on with Valve to a one game deal. With a publisher willing to distribute their games, Valve was ready to reveal their game at the largest gaming convention in the world, The Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3) in 1997. The showing of Half Life was a big success among gaming fans and critics alike. The buzz generated at the show almost guaranteed the success of the product. However, by November of 1997, the deadline was quickly approaching and the team at Valve was not satisfied with the product they had created. In their year of work on Half Life they had learned so much that had not been implemented into the game. Newell and Harrington took a huge risk by deciding it would be best to scrap almost their entire year s worth of work to go back and implement many of the new things they had learned. • 11. Cultural Competence Of Law Enforcement Agencies Discussion Although the questionnaire and interview processes are useful in gaining a better understanding of the cultural competence of law enforcement agencies, they are not helpful in improving the cultural competency of those agencies. This is where instituting mandatory cultural competency training comes into play. For example, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission proposed steps and recommendations to increase cultural competency and one of those steps was to develop and deploy effective EEO and diversity/inclusion training for different state and local law enforcement audiences, including department leadership, human resources, and hiring officials, union leadership, and individual officers. (Yang, 2015). While this recommendation pertains to hiring practices, it would also be very beneficial for law enforcement agencies to have trainings. Cultural competency training is important and would greatly improve relations between law enforcement and the community. A study by the Pew Research Center found that very few people in the U.S. say police forces do well in treating people equally. (Pew Research Center, 2014). It is likely that the results from the Pew study would be similar if the study were limited to Texas. Perhaps the results would be even worse in Texas in light of the recent incident in which officer Miller shot and killed Christian Taylor. The study illustrates how poorly the public views law enforcement in regards to treating people equally. Studies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More than two hundred years later the United States has achieved global power, that would even surpass Washington s wildest imaginings. The twentieth century was greatly dominated by The United States, being one of the two superpowers for several decades, and then the only hyper power to see the twentieth century. To America, the American dream was not living in a huge, fancy house, but to have a house, a yard, maybe a TV and a car too nothing fancy, no palaces like the gringos built just four walls and a roof (Boyle 29). The typical immigrant does not come to American with the intentions of becoming wealthy. They come to American to have a better opportunity in life. To be able to own a home, work and have a family. According to The New York Times, The phrase American dream was invented during the Great Depression. It comes from a popular 1931 book by the historian James Truslow Adama, who defines it as, that dream of a land in while life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone. In the decades that followed, the dream became a reality. Thanks to rapid, widely shared economic growth, nearly all children grew up to achieve the most basic definition of a better life earning more money and enjoying higher living standards than their parents had. Learning that us Americans are likely to achieve the American dream shows that it is all that much more difficult for immigrants and even more so for illegal immigrants. T.C Boyle, in Tortilla Curtain, attempts to show the separation between the American dream of the community of immigrants and the American dream of the whites. In the book, immigrants gather each and every day at a place called the labor exchange in hopes that someone will need workers in need to cheap labor. Most of the days, the men ... The Advantages And Effects Of Pips In Nigeria CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.0BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY The state of insecurity in Nigeria is becoming worrisome considering the high rate at which innocent people fall victim of criminals. News of crimes including armed robbery, terrorism and bombings, kidnapping are on the increasing by the day. Not a week passes without occurrence of such incidences on the streets. Now, even in broad day light, crimes are committed, murder is perpetrated without resolution. Even the police seems helpless. Considering the foregoing, there is a need for parents and care givers to constantly monitor the whereabouts of their children or clients. People should also track their mobility pattern and history. Several technologies are available for the purpose of localizing a person. A GPS is locator/receiver available on most smart phones and can be used to roughly locate a user. While at first this disadvantage may not seem a problem, if a direct line of sight between a satellite and the Android is interrupted design choices must be made to cope with this. Nowadays, researchers aim at finding possible methods to treat patients by understanding better how diseases develop. Regenerative medicine is an emerging field that had known incredible advances over the last 20 years. It s a broad interdisciplinary field aiming at repairing, regenerating or replacing damaged, malfunctioning or missing cells and tissues leading to restore normal function in patients. The basis of tissue engineering involves the production of stem cell, progenitor or precursor cells from embryonic or adult origin, which will induce the regeneration of tissues and organs. The following step is to create biocompatible matrices or scaffolds for the conduction of the signal. These matrices or scaffolds must be able to sustain cell proliferation and differentiation as well as the vascular ingrowth and the unification the new tissue with the surrounding host tissue. Additionally, they must have the capacity to adequately degrade concurrent with tissue regeneration. Then, the induction of growth factors or signalling proteins will activate the proliferation and differentiation of the stem cells. Finally the mechanical stimulation by biochemical forces like shear or strain. Scaffolds can be made in different types of materials like bioceramics, membrane, fibres, foams hydrogels... Therefore, management realized that if the company was to be successful not only in Japan, but globally it would need to improve its manufacturing process. Consequently, the company developed Toyota s lean manufacturing process, which is still used today. The LMP was used to eliminate waste in the entire production process to become more responsive to market demand and produce high quality products economically. In order to provide superior products, Toyota implemented many revolutionary strategies. For example, the company started, or invented, the Just in Time Manufacturing process. The JIT process, according to our text, is used to reduce inventory costs by scheduling supplies to arrive just in time to enter the production process or as inventory stock is depleted (Hill et al., 2015). Toyota used the just in time system to improve its supply chain management, which drastically decreased costs and increased the company s production facilities output as compared to its competitors. In addition to JIT, the company introduced a concept known as Kanbanthat was included within the new JIT system. The Kanban system was developed by Ohno and was used to arrange for components and/or assemblies manufactured at Toyota to be delivered to the assembly floor only when needed, not before (Hill et al., 2015). Usually, people tend to look past exactly what the cartoons are portraying. I noticed throughout all of the cartoons they were humanizing racism. I saw a diversity in cultures from all of the cartoons. Frequently, I observed how all the cultures were represented and the way they were dressed. Additionally, one thing that stood out from the rest was physical appearance. Between the two cartoons Little Black Sambo, Betty Boop, All this Rabbit Stew, and Jungle Jitters the African Americans all had the same physical features such as facial appearance. The setting of Little Black Sambo and Jungle Jitters were very similar plus they both had that jungle stereotype. Jungle Jitters initially illustrated how African Americans are jungle eating people. This makes it hard for a change of culture to manifest but one change the hospital has made, manifested perfectly. At our hospital there use to be a no scrub policy, meaning you could wear any type of scrub color you wanted to. As time went on this made things very hard on patients and managers, to realize what department the employee was under and what their job title was. The hospitalas a whole came up with the great idea of color coding each department with a specific color. This made things a lot easier on patients and managers. Constantine was left with Galerius in the court of the emperor Diocletian. When Diocletian and Maximian had to resign in 305, they made Constantine and Galerius emperor. There are two emperors, because one has to stay and govern the land and the other has to go out and win wars and earn land. Most of the time, you get to be emperor when your father resigns, but you could also be emperor if the people want you to lead them. • 25. The Association Between Primary And Secondary Psychopathy... This study used a correlation design to investigate the association between primary and secondary psychopathy and cognitive empathy. 452 first year psychology students completed Levenson, Kiehl and Fitzpatrick s (1995) Levenson self report Psychopathy scale (LSRP) and Baron Cohen, Wheelwright, Hill, Raste and Plumb s (2001) Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET). A significant negative correlation was found between primary psychopathyand empathy while the correlation for secondary psychopathy and empathy was insignificant. From this it can be concluded that primary psychopaths are worse at empathising than secondary psychopaths. Association between Primary and Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy Psychopathy is a disorder which can be split into two subtypes, primary and secondary. Primary psychopathy is typified by callous, manipulative, selfish and untruthful behaviour (Karpman, 1948, as cited in Levenson, Kiehl Fitzpatrick, 1995). Secondary psychopathy is associated with anxiety, introversion, low self esteem and moodiness (Blackburn Fawcett, 1999 as cited by Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010). Cognitive empathy is described as the being able to understand and infer emotions of others (Joliffee Farrington, 2004 as cited by Ali Chamorro Premuzic). The QE of US brought huge capital inflows into Asian economies. There are two ways that it can influence: 1) a large amount money flows into the emerging markets to buy their currencies which investors expected they would increase values relative to USD; then, the expectation caused the appreciation of currencies. 2) however, if the central banks of some certain economies try to stabilize their exchange rates not to appreciate, the effect of QE would show in the housing markets, the most important household assets in most Asian countries. • 38. Gaining Power Through Prowess In Machiavelli s The Prince There are four ways in which a prince can rise to power: through prowess (virtu), fortune, crime, or civil principality. When a prince rises to power through prowess, it means they gain power through their own skills and abilities. When a prince rises to power through fortune, it means he gained it through good luck or through money or favors of men. When comparing prowess and fortune, the main difference is clear: gaining power through your own abilities or through those of others. Gaining power through prowess is more difficult, but it s proves to be more stable. Obtaining power through fortune is easy but unpredictable. When a prince uses his own skills he can maintain a stable foundation for his rule rather than relying on others. Maintaining power is proved easier through prowess, as Machiavelli also concludes. If a prince chooses fear, he manages to scare people into respecting him. Also, if a prince commits an act that the people don t agree with, he loses their love. If a feared prince commits an act people don t agree with, they are too scared to state their belief against him. But the prince must also be careful so that this action isn t too disagreeable to the point where he is hated. In conclusion, a loved prince is not a stable one because men love at their own will whereas a feared prince instills fear at the will of himself, not others. • 44. Child Abuse And Spousal Abuse A term that is quite often used in today s society is family violence, more specifically child abuse and spousal abuse. A term that is not heard often is elder abuse, which is unfortunate due to the fact that it is a fairly common occurrence. It was estimated that in 2009, one in ten elderly Americans were victims of elder abuse within the previous year (Acierno, 2010). Even though elder abuse is prevalent here in America, it is seldom that this phenomenon is actually discussed. According to the National Center on Elder Abuse, there are seven types of elder abuse: physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, self neglect, and abandonment (Fischer, 2012, p. 102). The American Medical Association defines elder abuse and/or neglect as an act of commission or omission that results in harm or threatened harm to the health or welfare of an older adult whether intentional or unintentional (Read, 2016, p. 32). In the 1950 s, public welfare officials were faced with an increasing number of older persons who were unable to manage on their own and began to develop a new approach to providing services, which they called protective service units (Bonnie Wallace, 2003, p. 238). Due to their interest, Congress passed legislation, as part of the Social Security Act, providing funds to the states (Bonnie Wallace, 2003, p. 239) in order to set up these protective service units. In 1974, Congress amended the Social Security Act, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were two other groups that performed before the workshop. Those were two bands were the Rich Armandi Combo, coached by Rich Armandi, and the Funk Combo, coached by Chris Madsen, and the Jazz Workshop, conducted by Professor Madsen, and special guest Victor Garcia. All three groups did an outstanding job. They had many moments that I could hear were very similar to what we have been learning in jazz history. It was interesting to actually hear everything that was being taught in class being exercised in the concert. In this paper I will be talking about the concert as well as the parallels that showed up in the concert that relate back to what our class has been learning. In the first group, the Rich Armandi Combo, did really well over all. When listening to the combo there were many things that stood out. You can hear the basic jazz techniques, the drum keeping time, he never stops or goes off beat. In the second song the combo performed Forest Flower was very well done, the trumpet added to the song. I thought that some of the trumpet playing sounded similar to Miles Davis. This was because the trumpeter was playing in a middle register, but not to low. Just like Davis would play, the trumpet also had great a great sound for the long notes she was playing in the pieces. The third song they performed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Spring Landscape With A Creek By Frantisek Kavan Spring landscape with a creek is an impressionist oil painting by a Czech painter named Frantisek Kavan in 1890. This piece of art is chosen because it portrays an image of a landscape in which a creek of water is running through the meadows. The golden sun seems like taking a bath in the water hedged by green fields where yellow flower buddings can be seen. This painting shows the time of year when trees are saying goodbye to the winter season and are ready for life to return with spring. It seems as if this painting is saying goodbye to the history and introducing the new impressionistic art of 19th century. This painting is a simple landscape but it depicts the basic elements of life that are needed by a human to survive rather than materialistic things. Anyone who sees this painting is absorbed in it as the artist has painted it fresh which shows an optimistic thought when the glance goes from deserted trees to the green meadows and the water creek and finally to the flowers . This picture resembles a strong feeling of the presence of a creator who rescues us from destruction to the spring of life when life is at its peak. The third painting is a bit newer as compared to the previous two, which comes under the realm of the 20th century. This detailed painting is titled as Urban landscape by Enric Pinet in 1934, depicting multi colored and expressive urban landscape. This painting shows the development of city life where nature is scarce and chimneys are exhaling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Ibm Db2 vs Oracle For this week s paper I have chosen to do a comparison between IBM s DB2 database management system (DBMS) product and Oracle. Realistically, making such a comparison is akin to discussing religion with friends. Each person will have their own biases based on their own experiences. Looking for an unbiased opinion is much like looking for the Holy Grail, every bit as speculative and subjective with the results jaundiced by the outlook of the reporter (Lim, 2002). A decision between DB2 and Oracle should be based on what resources are available for use at the site. Is there specific hardware or software already onsite that can or will be used in the installation, if so this will have a major impact on the decision making process. Does the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then the TPC can produce benchmarks to measure transaction processing and database performance. Typical performance measures are transactions per second and transactions per minute on a given system and database (Chigrik, 2003). For Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), the TPC C benchmark is the most current and is the standard that DBMS s are measured against. When Oracle 9i and IBM DB2 v8.1 were ran head to head processing the same transactions, Oracle held all of the top 5 spots in the TPC C. Unless an organization runs a very large database, the key areas that Oracle won the TPC C benchmarks on won t matter to the same degree as they would in for a large database. Newer versions of both RDBMS have made the field more competitive with the top five positions split between them, Oracle holding only three of five currently (TPC, 2005). With a statistical dead heat in performance except in very large databases, pricing becomes an issue for both DBMS. Comparing the standard edition of Oracle 9i to the workgroup edition of DB2 v8.1, Oracle is double the cost all the way from one processor up to thirty two. When comparing Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition to DB2 Enterprise Edition v8.1; pricing for Oracle is just slightly less than double that of DB2 until you go above four processors then difference shifts ...
