1. What have you learned from your audience feedback ? The main points that I got from our audience feedback were that the link between the visuals and the music interlink very well. Also the editing in time with the beat are used throughout the video and its maintained throughout. This indicates that the audience feel we have followed some of the Andrew Goodwin's conventions for example his comment that in music videos the tempo of the track is matched visually., which the audience feedback suggested it created a sense of continuity. Another point that our audience picked out on was on the specific colour( red and black grading ) used in the studio stood out and did have a specific rave/club feel to which was the effect we wanted The studio shots also had effective cross cutting between two scenes. The colour effect (leave colour) which we used in the outside scenes and specifically the graffiti, which suited the genre of the song and the style of the music video. It allowed the video to seem more street life related, giving it a more urban feel to it this correlates to the forms and conventions of the genre. The negative feedback about our music video was about the narrative not being clear, and that I should have created a clearer storyline, although it was not intended, as we wanted to connotate a sense of danger and mystery through our implied narrative. Steve Archer claims “ that music videos tend to only suggest storylines and focus on fragments of the lyrics” Overall our audience feedback said that they liked our music video. The most common thing people said about our video, was that it was “ trippy” and that it had a good mysterious feel to it because of the way the characters were used with the masks and a juxtaposition was instantly recognised which made our video “ grungy”, which was our intention. Although I did not receive many feedback from survey monkey, our YouTube seemed to gather more responses. (YouTube comments and feedback showed more responses) (Survey monkey)
2. More people replied on YouTube. Overall the comments from YouTube generally suggest that they like my music video. The most Positive comment that was suggested, was the relationship between the visuals and the music, and that it worked well with the tempo of the track. Also the visuals which included the graffiti and the studio footage worked well with the type and genre of the music video.
3. The negative feedback that stood out the most was that the narrative was not clear and that it needed more emphasis to it.
4. Survey Monkey To start of my survey, I needed to get a feel of who and what my target audience were into to otherwise my music video wouldn’t apply to their tastes and interests. E.g. I asked them their age range to know how old my basis for my music video should be. It he However not many people replied on Survey Monkey, possibly because they did not understand the terminology and language of A2 media.
5. To gather more in-depth responses and to collect more depth responses I had to ask open questions. This shows what they liked about my music video. Similar to the YouTube comments they said that the masks were used effectively and the editing.
