my 3 chosen videos + analysis

1. Kanye west –the good life This video is unique because there is a mixture of graphics and designs which contrasts well with the black and white people. This video is shot with a green screen background and floor. Keys are also used for the effects. They are used in time with the movement of the artists so that it links and goes in time with the music…. I like this because the animation goes in time and links with the lyrics. His actions go in time with the graphics that form around him.

2. Linkin park- Breaking the habit This linkin park video has a special stylistic theme. The graphics are copied from the Japanese cartoon manga drawings. It gives a certain effect and as a video it stands out from a normal music video. This video stared from hand drawn sketches, and a programme adobe flash player was used to turn the drawings into animation.

3. Jay z on -to the next one The style of this video is also very unique. The black and white works really well together. It makes the video seem more professional and artistic. The props that are used are very simple, but graphics are used such as the white liquid and fire which emphasises the image. The costume design is also very different but again the black and white is specifically used to bring out the image from the background, the costumes and make up of the dances look very evil and dark, which is un-usual for a rap video. In terms of is there a relationship between the lyrics and the video, there are some specific links. For example, when the drums kick in, the visuals of a drummer come in into the video, at that particular moment. However this does not happen for all the visuals. Also the dance routines from the women do link in with the genre RnB/Hip Hop.
