How did you use new media
technologies in the construction
and research, planning and
evaluation stages?

2. I have used numerous amounts of new media technology
through the year in media studies, through my ancillary
tasks, main task, and on my blog while research and
planning. I used blogger to display my work in an organised
media filed way. I enjoy working with blogger; it has
allowed me to present my work in a different approach
and also lets me post regularly. Before shooting my film I
was using my own Cannon EOS 600D to take photo’s of my
chosen location and also for the photo shoot of the film
poster and review page, I feel that this camera has learnt
me a lot of how to take a professional looking photograph
but also just how to use a professional camera in general. I
also used this camera to take photo’s of the sunset in my
location as part of my research, I have previously posted
these images on my blog. YouTube was used as a research
tool, for example; finding appropriate music, inspirational
texts, finding conventional shot types (no strings
attached). I posted many YouTube clips onto my bog, this
also helped me get an idea of what clothing is used for my
type of genre. In the planning stages I used Prezi and
Animoto to show more of my ideas and intentions towards
my products, I found these very easy to work with but also
an attractive different way to present my work.

3. I also used Pinterest to create a mood board of
the mise-en-scene of my ancillary tasks and
main task, however I found it very unattractive
and boring to work with. Hotmail.com was
used regularly, mainly to keep in touch with
my lecturer, I found it was important to gain
feedback for different parts of my work and to
keep on schedule. I also used outlook to email
the artist of my chosen music, to ask for
permission to use the song for my A2 Media
Project. The main new media technology I
have used this year is Adobe Premiere Pro,
because I was completely new to this software
I found it very difficult to work with, however I
feel that this software helped shape my main
task a lot, as it allowed me to edit my clips and
add effects to them, add titles and credits to
my film and also edit my chosen music

4. Throughout the year, I have used a range
of different new media technologies to
help produce my product package. I used
different websites for the planning side of
my products and when researching my
target audience I used different media to
show what they would like to see in my
short film and what they would get from
watching my film, which links to uses of
gratification. Furthermore, I have used
different technologies to help me create
my overall products and to add synergy,
as my products are all of the same theme,
they create a package, including the main
product, review page and film poster. I
also involved cross media convergence
within each of my products, as I
recognised that my target audience
enjoys using converged technology, I
made my product available to consume in
different ways, for example I have
updated my final draft of Decease Love
onto YouTube, were it is possible for my
audience to view through mobile phones
‘on the go’.
