What have you learnt from
your audience feedback?
Evaluation
When creating the music video it was very important that we
received audience feedback, as it was ne of the major stages in
the process of constructing our final product. Audience feedback
helped us to identify room for improvement to develop our work
further in order to conform to all the genre conventions as well as
target audience expectations.
Our main group aim was to ensure our viewers were completely
attentive throughout the music video and were able to
understand the hidden narrative but to also satisfy them in terms
of identifying the codes and conventions of the genre. In order to
gather all this information to put to use for our final product, we
decided on gathering feedback from our first draft to see what
we needed to ‘tweak’ to ensure our audience’s need and wants
are met.
I firstly managed to interview 2 students whom
insisted not to be shown on screen, so I typed up
their feedback and embedded it into my blog
using a site name Infogram. Whereas group
member Janna managed to gather some external
reviews.
After gathering up enough audience feedback, my group and I joined
together to brainstorm further ideas on what we should do to improve
our product. In order to meet our audience’s satisfaction we decided on
perhaps more camera shots of action such as dancing; we decided on
more locations to film at with better lighting and even considered
locations with colourful atmospheres such as different parks.
As we were still communicating using our group chat via WhatsApp, we
even asked our performer Deejay for additional ideas as she too
counted as a target audience member. She also had past experiences in
music videos, therefore was able to insight us of what we should include
to create a successful music video.
