Mozambique is one of the most vulnerable countries in Africa to natural disasters and climate change due to its long coastline. It experiences numerous cyclones, floods, and droughts that negatively impact economic growth. The government has established institutions to coordinate disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation efforts. A three-phase approach involves studies to identify vulnerabilities and solutions, with the third phase focusing on implementing strategies. Key areas of focus include early warning systems, coastal protection, preparing cities and food security. Adaptation activities in drought-prone regions emphasize water harvesting, infrastructure, and promoting adapted technologies and income generation activities to build resilience. Future challenges include improving coordination and involving academic institutions to develop more appropriate solutions.
