This document defines motivation as the reason or reasons that drive someone to act or behave in a particular way. Motivation is a psychological force that compels or reinforces actions toward achieving a desired goal. For example, hunger motivates the desire to eat. Motivation provides the purpose and psychological cause for behaviors operating at both conscious and subconscious levels, without which those behaviors would not occur. It is also considered the driving force that gives direction to behaviors and provides the energy needed to complete tasks.
