Assignment for Block II – Module IV
1. Choose a topic from a content area of your choice. You may use the same
topic as in block 1.
Area: Social Science.
Topic: Solar System – The movements of rotation and revolution.
Sessions: It is a double session of 1h and 30 minutes.
2. Identify the aims, learning outcomes, key contents and language (briefly).
Aim 1: Activate pupils’ knowledge about the movements of the Earth.
Aim 2: To make a hands-on activity to show evidence of the movements of the Earth.
Learning outcomes: Students at the end of the lesson should be able to explain the
movements of the Earth with the help of the hands-on activity.

3. Design activities for each of these stages:
a. Activate/Established: Students will brainstorm ideas on a KWL chart about
the movements of the Earth using the 1,2,4 cooperative learning technique.
b. Explore: Students will match an adapted text with the pictures in groups.
Then, pupils will make a hands-on activity to show understanding of the key
contents.
Adapted text:
Revolution of the Earth: The Earth
orbits around the Sun. It takes one
year or 365 days to go around the
Sun.
Rotation of the Earth: The Earth
rotates on its axis. It takes one day
to spin around itself.
The rotation is what causes the
change from day to night.
This titled axis is responsible for
having seasons.
Session 2: students will make a hands-on activity as you can see the attached picture
below.

  • 1. Assignment for Block II – Module IV 1. Choose a topic from a content area of your choice. You may use the same topic as in block 1. Area: Social Science. Topic: Solar System – The movements of rotation and revolution. Sessions: It is a double session of 1h and 30 minutes. 2. Identify the aims, learning outcomes, key contents and language (briefly). Aim 1: Activate pupils’ knowledge about the movements of the Earth. Aim 2: To make a hands-on activity to show evidence of the movements of the Earth. Learning outcomes: Students at the end of the lesson should be able to explain the movements of the Earth with the help of the hands-on activity. Key content and language: Content compatible Content obligatory Reach Because Different Parts Places Always Fold Cut Stick Scissors Glue Pins Earth Sun Revolution Rotation Days Orbit Titled axis Spin Season Sun rays Poles Movement Lexis Structures Function Earth Sun Revolution Rotation Days Orbit Titled axis Spin Season Sun rays Movement It goes around… It takes… one day, 365 days… It causes… Language for describing a process. Language of classification as pupils are going to compare.
  • 2. 3. Design activities for each of these stages: a. Activate/Established: Students will brainstorm ideas on a KWL chart about the movements of the Earth using the 1,2,4 cooperative learning technique. b. Explore: Students will match an adapted text with the pictures in groups. Then, pupils will make a hands-on activity to show understanding of the key contents. Adapted text: Revolution of the Earth: The Earth orbits around the Sun. It takes one year or 365 days to go around the Sun.
  • 3. Rotation of the Earth: The Earth rotates on its axis. It takes one day to spin around itself. The rotation is what causes the change from day to night. This titled axis is responsible for having seasons.
  • 4. Session 2: students will make a hands-on activity as you can see the attached picture below.
