interior of the earth is …. Thank you!”
Start at the back.
(students will response)
D. Procedure
Teacher Student
The Plate Tectonic Theory provided an
explanation about the movement of the
lithospheric plates. This theory evolved
from the two former theories and was
developed during the first decades of the
20th century.
The Earth’s lithosphere is divided into
several plates. As you have already
learned, these plates ride over the weak
asthenosphere. There are three types of
plate movements – separation of two
plates (divergent), collision of two plates
(convergent) and sliding past each other
(transform).
What facilitates the movement of the
plates?
Heat is produced in the core that
produces convection in the mantle. This
convection causes the plate to move
around.
To further understand this process, you
will perform the activity.
The two types of crust are continental
and oceanic.
The denser is oceanic.
E. Pre- Activity
Teacher Student
Last meeting I grouped you into three for
your activity today, can you please
proceed to your groupmates?
Where going to works the Activity 7 an
titled “Push me up and aside!”
In this activity, students will compute for
the rate of seafloor spreading.
Everyone, please read the objectives.
Instruction:
1. Get one manila paper and
pentelpen for your activity.
2. Cooperate and collaborate with
your groupmates.
3. Your time is 10 minutes to study,
to analyze and to answer the guide
questions.
4. Choose two to three presenter of
your activity.
The objectives of this activity are:
 Explain what causes the tectonic
plates to move.
 Enumerate the factors that cause
tectonic plates to move.
 Realize the importance of the
creation of convection current
underneath the earth.
5. Your score for this activity is
based on rubrix.
Let’s start !
F. Post Activity
Teacher Student
Time is up!
Please, paste your activity works on the
board.
Give your self “Boom Aw Clap”
Let’s start group 1.
I want to hear the next group, group 2.
Present your work group 3.
(The teacher will add information while the
presenters presents their works.)
In your answers, these are the possible
causes of tectonic activities. Again, this is
the processes/activities in the Earth’s
interior play a role in the processes along
Earth’s surface.
As a substance like water is heated, the less
dense particles rise while denser particles
sink. Once the hot less dense particles cool
down, they sink, and the other less dense
particles rise. This continuous process is
called convection current. This is exactly
what happens in the Earth’s mantle. The
hot, less dense rising material spreads out
as it reaches the upper mantle causing
upward and sideward forces. These forces
lift and split the lithosphere at divergent
plate boundaries. The hot magma flows out
of the mantle and cools down to form the
new ocean crust. The downward
movement of the convection current occurs
along a convergent boundary where the
sinking force pulls the tectonic plate
downward.
(The presenter presents their works and
asnwer the quide questions )
The convection currents rotate very slowly,
as they move and drag the plates along.
Because of convection current, the tectonic
plates are able to move slowly along the
tectonic boundaries, pushing each other,
sliding past each other and drifting away
from each other.
G. Generalization
Teacher Student
What is convection current?
Now that you understand what happens
inside the Earth and its effects on the
Earth’s surface, you should be able to
realize that the tectonic activities at the
surface just like volcanic eruptions and
earthquakes are inevitable. You should
view the Earth as a dynamic planet and
still the most fascinating planet for it
offers you a home that no other planet
can.
It is a current in the mantle because of the
heat from the inner layers of the Earth,
and is the force that drives the plates to
move around.
H. Valuing/ Application
Teacher Student
Importance, why need to discuss? Because for the preparedness and
awareness during earthquakes, tsunamis,
and volcanic eruption.
IV. Evaluation
Draw four (4) geologic events showing how they formed by the process of the
convergent boundaries.
V. Assignment
Explain the processes that occur along divergent boundaries and determine the
results of plates that are moving apart.

  • 2. A. Daily Routine Teacher Student Prayer Class, please stand up and let us pray. Greetings Good morning class! Classroom Conditioning Kindly arrange your chairs and pick up those pieces of paper around you. Okay, please be seated. Checking of Attendance Danica, is there any absent for today? Very good! Checking of Assignment Did I give you any assignment yesterday? Exchange your paper to your seatmate. ( the students will pray) Good morning Sir! Thank you Sir. None Yes B. Recall Teacher Student I give you 2 minutes to punish your song. Time is up! Let’s start, please listen and watch all group. Write the names of your members on rubrics. Good Job! All are prepared. Give yourself “Sing Song Clap” Thank you Sir. ((students will perform) C. Motivation Teacher Student Use the beginning ” I believed that the interior of the earth is …. Thank you!” Start at the back. (students will response) D. Procedure Teacher Student The Plate Tectonic Theory provided an explanation about the movement of the lithospheric plates. This theory evolved from the two former theories and was developed during the first decades of the
  • 3. 20th century. The Earth’s lithosphere is divided into several plates. As you have already learned, these plates ride over the weak asthenosphere. There are three types of plate movements – separation of two plates (divergent), collision of two plates (convergent) and sliding past each other (transform). What facilitates the movement of the plates? Heat is produced in the core that produces convection in the mantle. This convection causes the plate to move around. To further understand this process, you will perform the activity. The two types of crust are continental and oceanic. The denser is oceanic. E. Pre- Activity Teacher Student Last meeting I grouped you into three for your activity today, can you please proceed to your groupmates? Where going to works the Activity 7 an titled “Push me up and aside!” In this activity, students will compute for the rate of seafloor spreading. Everyone, please read the objectives. Instruction: 1. Get one manila paper and pentelpen for your activity. 2. Cooperate and collaborate with your groupmates. 3. Your time is 10 minutes to study, to analyze and to answer the guide questions. 4. Choose two to three presenter of your activity. The objectives of this activity are:  Explain what causes the tectonic plates to move.  Enumerate the factors that cause tectonic plates to move.  Realize the importance of the creation of convection current underneath the earth.
  • 4. 5. Your score for this activity is based on rubrix. Let’s start ! F. Post Activity Teacher Student Time is up! Please, paste your activity works on the board. Give your self “Boom Aw Clap” Let’s start group 1. I want to hear the next group, group 2. Present your work group 3. (The teacher will add information while the presenters presents their works.) In your answers, these are the possible causes of tectonic activities. Again, this is the processes/activities in the Earth’s interior play a role in the processes along Earth’s surface. As a substance like water is heated, the less dense particles rise while denser particles sink. Once the hot less dense particles cool down, they sink, and the other less dense particles rise. This continuous process is called convection current. This is exactly what happens in the Earth’s mantle. The hot, less dense rising material spreads out as it reaches the upper mantle causing upward and sideward forces. These forces lift and split the lithosphere at divergent plate boundaries. The hot magma flows out of the mantle and cools down to form the new ocean crust. The downward movement of the convection current occurs along a convergent boundary where the sinking force pulls the tectonic plate downward. (The presenter presents their works and asnwer the quide questions )
  • 5. The convection currents rotate very slowly, as they move and drag the plates along. Because of convection current, the tectonic plates are able to move slowly along the tectonic boundaries, pushing each other, sliding past each other and drifting away from each other. G. Generalization Teacher Student What is convection current? Now that you understand what happens inside the Earth and its effects on the Earth’s surface, you should be able to realize that the tectonic activities at the surface just like volcanic eruptions and earthquakes are inevitable. You should view the Earth as a dynamic planet and still the most fascinating planet for it offers you a home that no other planet can. It is a current in the mantle because of the heat from the inner layers of the Earth, and is the force that drives the plates to move around. H. Valuing/ Application Teacher Student Importance, why need to discuss? Because for the preparedness and awareness during earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruption. IV. Evaluation Draw four (4) geologic events showing how they formed by the process of the convergent boundaries. V. Assignment Explain the processes that occur along divergent boundaries and determine the results of plates that are moving apart.
