As I walked into the classroom, I noticed many visuals, hands on materials, child size tables and
chairs. The visuals around the classroom were pictures/ descriptions that can help the children
identify things around the room. For example: centers, a word wall that consisted of sight words
that they have learned in the past and words that are being added, shapes and colors, a calendar,
classroom rules, and a sign language chart so that the children can learn his or her alphabets in
sign language. In addition, the children s authentic artwork were posted on the art board. For a
large group of 15 children, the classroom space was very limited. In this specific classroom, the
ratio was 2:15 (1 teacher, 1 aide and 15 children) and this classroom isn t shared with another class.

Richard Rodriguez, in his article, Does America Still Exists? states that America is the nation of
united diversity. It is a country where everyone is welcomed and treated equally. He expresses his
confusion about the real definition of America when he talks about how the people in America are
into racism and differences despite the country being made up of immigrants. The author asserts
that America does exist, first by defining America, and by showing the inter connection between

Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable
access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring
or blocking certain products or webpages. Net neutrality is like the Equal Protection
Clause (5th Amendment) in that it is the idea that Internet service providers (ISPs)
and governments should treat all site data equally. In other words, no one should be
throttling speeds or blocking certain sites outright because of their content, author
or country of origin. The alternative is called a closed internet where companies
are allowed to restrict access to services and sites by exerting control over the
broadband...the pipe through which we get access to the Internet (Podhoretz
2010). Generally in a capitalist society, competition is seen as a positive motivator
because it creates an efficient marketplace. However, this system breaks down
when supply is artificially limited. Consumers expect to pay more for better

The purpose of this paper is to assess the negative effects of children beauty contest on its
contestants. Although many people argue that there are some benefits of this contest such as
build up the confidence, self esteem, public speaking skills, tact, and poised it is also true that it
can result to negative psychological effects and interferes in child development worldwide. The
Toddlers and Tiaras, and Little Miss Perfect are popular reality TV shows that features young
girls the real hardship and obstacles from their mother s pressure or preparation for the pageant.
They are ages from 1 to 12 years old, with main goal of winning and get the tiara and money or
ribbon or teddy bears. Generally, the parents of these young girls believe and make decision that
the beauty pageant is okay. Pageants, particularly those designed for younger children, focus
primarily on appearance, attire, and perceived cuteness. Parents of these little girls train them,
plastering their natural beauty by using spray tanners, hair extensions and thick makeups. In
addition, some little girls lose their teeth as a natural process of growing up, so parents will add
fake teeth to replace the ones that have been lost. Therefore, the result is an unnatural appearance
of what a little girl should look like. A child s innocence is broken with fake smiles, false

A Pair of Tickets is a short story in the book, The Joy Luck Club, which is compiled of several
short stories told by 4 daughters and their mothers and this short story is the final chapter of the
book and reflects a lot of the themes presented in the earlier part of this book. This book deals with
all different types of motherdaughter relationships between Chinese mothers with American
daughters. This short story is told by Jing Mei, or June, and her journey to meet her long lost
sisters. Her mother has passed away and Jing Mei is fulfilling her mother s wishes. Her and her
father travel to China, and visit familyand Jing Mei slowly discovers more about the culture she
has been raised in and things begin to make sense for Jing Mei. In the Joy Luck Club, Jing Mei and
her mother do not have the best relationship and we get a brief glimpse of this in the short story.
This short story is not only about Jing Mei s journey to China but also a journey to find her true
