This document presents a model and fuzzy logic controller for a quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It first describes the dynamics and modeling of a quadrotor, including its six degrees of freedom and equations of motion. It then discusses fuzzy logic control and its application to the quadrotor, including defining membership functions and fuzzy rules for roll, pitch, yaw and altitude control. Simulation results using MATLAB/Simulink show the fuzzy logic controller is able to control the quadrotor's orientation and position to track desired inputs for roll, pitch, yaw and altitude.
Internal Model Based Vector Control of Induction MotorIJMER
This paper deals with the design of PID and Internal Model Controllers (IMC) in adjusting
the speed of induction machine under disturbances and set point changes. The performance of PID
controller is compared with IMC. The internal model control is an alternative to the classic feedback
structure. Internal model control is composed of an inverse model connected in series with the plant and a
forward model connected in parallel with the plant, this structure allows the error feedback to reflect the
effect of disturbances and plant mismodelling resulting in a robust control loop. The IMC provides good
performance and robustness against the disturbances in system when compared with the PID controller. A
simulation study of these methods is presented using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

The studies in aerial vehicles modeling and control have been increased rapidly recently. This paper presents the modeling and control of a four rotor vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) vehicle. The modeling of the VTOL vehicle will be described by using Euler-Newton equations. In order to stable this vehicle and control the attitude of that, classical PID controller and a fuzzy system that adjusts the PID controller gains, have been designed. Although fuzzy control of various dynamical systems has been presented in literature, application of this technology to aerial vehicle control is quite new. This system has nonlinear characteristics where classical control methods are not adequate for stabilize that. On the other hand, fuzzy control is nonlinear and it is thus suitable for nonlinear system control. Matlab Simulink has been used to test, analyze and compare the performance of the controllers in simulations. Finally this

Optimal backstepping control of quadrotor UAV using gravitational search opti...journalBEEI
Quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has superior characteristics such as ability to take off and land vertically, to hover in a stable air condition and to perform fast maneuvers. However, developing a high-performance quadrotor UAV controller is a difficult problem as quadrotor is an unstable and underactuated nonlinear system. The effort in this article focuses on designing and optimizing an autonomous quadrotor UAV controller. First, the aerial vehicle's dynamic model is presented. Then it is suggested an optimal backstepping controller (OBC). Traditionally, backstepping controller (BC) parameters are often selected arbitrarily. The gravitational search algorithm (GSA) is used here to determine the BC parameter optimum values. In the algorithm, the control parameters are calculated using an integral absolute error to minimize the fitness function. As the control law is based on the theorem of Lyapunov, the asymptotic stability of the scheme can be ensured. Finally, several simulation studies are conducted to show the efficacy of the suggested OBC.

Design a nonlinear controller for second order nonlinear uncertain dynamical systems is one of the most important challenging works. This paper focuses on the design, implementation and analysis of a chattering free sliding mode controller for highly nonlinear dynamic PUMA robot manipulator and compare to computed torque controller, in presence of uncertainties. In order to provide high performance nonlinear methodology, sliding mode controller and computed torque controller are selected. Pure sliding mode controller and computed torque controller can be used to control of partly known nonlinear dynamic parameters of robot manipulator. Conversely, pure sliding mode controller is used in many applications; it has an important drawback namely; chattering phenomenon which it can causes some problems such as saturation and heat the mechanical parts of robot manipulators or drivers. In order to reduce the chattering this research is used the linear saturation function boundary layer method instead of switching function method in pure sliding mode controller. DUAL NEURAL NETWORK FOR ADAPTIVE SLIDING MODE CONTROL OF QUADROTOR HELICOPTER...ijistjournal
An adaptive sliding mode control based on two neural networks is proposed in this paper for Quadrotor stabilization. This approach presents solutions to conventional control drawbacks as chattering phenomenon and dynamical model imprecision. For that reason two ANN for each quadrotor helicopter subsystem are implemented in the control loop, the first one is a Single Hidden Layer network used to approximate on line the equivalent control and the second feed-forward Network is used to estimate the ideal corrective term. The main purpose behind the use of ANN in the second part of SMC is to minimize the chattering phenomena and response time by finding optimal sliding gain and sliding surface slope. The learning algorithms of the two ANNs (equivalent and corrective controller) are obtained using the direct Lyapunov stability method. The simulation results are given to highlight the performances of the proposed control scheme.

ENHANCED DATA DRIVEN MODE-FREE ADAPTIVE YAW CONTROL OF UAV HELICOPTERijics
An enhanced data driven model-free adaptive yaw control tracking control scheme is proposed for the yaw
channel of an unmanned-aerial-vehicle (UAV) helicopter which is non-affine in the control input in this paper. Through dynamic linearization and observer techniques, the proposed control algorithm is only based on the pseudo-partial derivative (PPD) parameter estimation derived online from the I/O data of the yaw channel of an UAV helicopter, and Lyapunov-based stability analysis is utilized to prove all signals of
close-loop control system are bounded. Compared with the traditional model free adaptive control
(MFAC), the proposed enhanced MFAC algorithm can make the close-loop control system with stronger robustness and better anti-jamming ability. Finally, simulation results of the UAV yaw channel are offered to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed novel control technique.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
