John Cooper s The Last Of The Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans begins three years into the French and Indian War. The French allied
with Native Americans conspire to seize Fort William Henry, the plans are cut off by a Native
scout named Magua. Magua presents the plans to British General Webb, who counters by
sending troops to reinforce Colonel Munro at Fort William Henry. After the troops leave, Munro
s daughters, Alice and Cora demand to be escorted to see their father. General Webb sends the
daughters with Major Heyward, as they leave, they run into a stranger. The stranger happens to
be Magua, who decides to lead the group Fort William Henry. Awhile later the group meets a
second stranger whose name is David Gamut a psalmodist who seems very out of place forest.
Gamut explains he is lost and would like to join the group, he is accepted . A couple miles away

Many immigrants were white and looked at Native American lifestyle as weird and different.
This helped fuel racism against the Natives. However, some people were tolerant and befriended
the natives and believed they were just as equal and welcomed to lands as the white. Cooper
explores the idea of a white man and native man becoming friends by introducing Hawkeye the
white hunter and his Native American companion Chingachgook. Cooper then goes a little
deeper by setting up the attraction between Uncas and Cora and by uncovering Colonel Munro s
first wife who was of African descent. Cooper seems to be trying to show that a person could
have a healthy and happy relationship with a Native American or any type of race. By the end of
the story, it seems as though Cooper believes that the beliefs at the time were wrong and that they

House On Mango Street Compare And Contrast Essay
According to talkproverty.org 21.4% of Hispanics in America are living in poverty. A book call
The House on Mango Street and a movie call Stand and Deliver, represent the struggle of being a
Hispanic in America. The House on Mango Street is similar to the movie, Stand and Deliver
because the characters were judged based on where they lives, the characters have low self esteem,
and the females were expected to take care of family. The House on Mango Street is also different
from the movie, Stand and Deliver, because of the encouragement the characters received by adults,
the relationships the characters build, and the different viewpoint the characters have on where they
will be in the future. In my opinion, The House on Mango Street interests me more than Stand and
Deliver, because the book leaves you wondering what is going to happen next, allows you to
imagine the characters, and it has different storylines.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book and movie the characters are judged based on where they lived. In the movie, the
district did not believe that the students received the high test scores because they lived in poverty.
Similar to, how the woman did not allow Esperanza to sit in the cool kids area for lunch since she
lived in the apartments. From Stand and Deliver, Pancho did not think he was smart enough to
solve the calculus equation on the board. Compared to, Esperanza, who called her feet ugly, we
can infer that both characters have low self esteem. The last similarity I want to talk about is the
how the female characters were expected to take care of their family. Esperanza had to take care
of her sister in the book just as how Lupe had to take care of her siblings because her mom comes
home late. This shows that females are expected to take care of

Mad Dogs, Englishmen, and the Errant Anthropologist Essay
Mad Dogs, Englishmen, and the Errant Anthropologist Reflection
In his book Mad Dogs, English, and the Errant Anthropologist, Raybeck discusses his observations
as he immerses himself in Wakaf Bharu, a city in the state of Kelantan, Malaysia. Throughout the
ethnography, he discusses the various differences that he observes with the Kelantanese culture and
the American culture, while using his prior knowledge to explain the observations he takes note of.
By using these observations, Raybeck proceeds to answer different Naturalistic Questions which
explain how Raybeck gathers the information and in what ways his studies impact the culture. Then,
he elaborates on the economical aspect of the culture he studies, explaining how relationships ...

Friends such as Yusof, Cik Din, and Encik Hussein aided him in giving a tour of the village,
explaining certain customs that he was not aware of, giving him their life stories, allowing him to
interview them as key informants, individuals who have a great rapport towards the fieldworker
(Omohundro 64), and letting Raybeck accompany them to social events so that he could study the
social behavior of the natives. As time passes by, his increased participation in the Kelantanese
culture results in a greater rapport within the village. Once incident that really shows this acquired
rapport was when he was studying the lives of the prostitutes in the nearby capital, Kota Bharu. A
villager who asks him for a ride to the barbershop but detours to the nearest whorehouse, only to
be seen by Raybeck. When the villager realizes that Raybeck caught him in the act, he proceeds
in lying, trying to establish a reason for this sudden detour. Raybeck notes how this scene starts to
show how his status changing from being an outsider through the act of lying, because He notices
the change immediately as described from this section and it shows how a simple act of lying was
able to show Raybeck s increasing rapport vividly. The challenges the Raybeck faces are the ethical
issues involving the reporting of certain information. Personal information that came from the

The black death was one of the deadliest plagues there s been, in the mid 14th century the plague
spread around the world traveling from china to Europe, this plague was responsible for the death
of more than one third of the population of Europe and the middle east. At this time there were a

Ukraine Case Study
Introduction: The educational challenges endured by the Ukrainian government and its citizens is a
suitable option for the final comparison paper against Finland. Ukraine shares a longstanding
history with Russia having only attained independence in 1991, and aimed to cultivate a
relationship with Western Europe, particularly the European Union (EU). Discouragingly, twenty
six years after independence Ukraine wrestles with a depleted economy inherited from former and
first President Leonid Kravchuk. Leonid Kuchma, the country s second president, only fared slightly
better than his predecessor but soon faltered. Kuchma was accused by the opposition of
immoderately conceding to Russian economic interests. What s more, Kuchma s... Show more

One of Russia s most well known acts of aggression against Ukraine was the annexation of Crimea.
With evidence that Russia is attempting to expand its influence, how will this affect Ukraine s
sovereignty and most importantly its policies? (The Atlantic 2014). Above all, it will be interesting
to dissect how this affects education policies. In spite of pressure from Russia, in 2014 Ukrainian
policymakers passed a legislation that empowered universities with more autonomy with their
curriculum, finances and hiring practices. Before its passage, the government was overly involved
in the design and implementation of education programs which inhibited faculty research endeavors
(Freedom House 2016).
The Electoral System Ukraine s next presidential and parliamentary election is scheduled for
2019. A mixed election system is utilized to elect the 450 legislative seats. 225 members of
parliament are elected through first past the post voting (FPTP) with a five percent threshold
from single member districts and the other 225 are selected from a closed list through
proportional representation. In order for a party to be successful they must acquire a minimum of
5 percent of the votes. On Election Day, Ukrainians cast two ballots, a ballot in support of their
local representative and political party (Freedom House 2016). More so than other parliamentary
systems coalitions are imperative for victory. One of the most notable aspects on the 2014

Reflection Paper On Endometriosis
Endometriosis, if not diagnosed in time, could be a fatal disease that could lead to cancer.
January 2003, was the day I received the devastating news that would change my life forever. My
gynecologist informed me that I was eat up with Endometriosis and had no choice but to accept a
complete hysterectomy. No one knows my body like me, so I knew that something was amiss
when I was having menstrual cycles that just did not seem normal, not to mention the excruciating
pain that I received every month along with it. I have performed a great deal of research and along
with my personal story with Endometriosis, this is what I found. Living with The Effects of
Endometriosis In 2002, I met my husband and as time went on, we decided that we would do
whatever it took to have another baby. For most couples, it has been just a matter of the
conception part of it. It was not going to be that easy for us because I had already had my tubes
cut and burned so they said. However, we were not going to let that stop us. As time went on I
had started doing research on the process that we would have to go through to make this dream
come true. There were many trips back and forth to the doctor s office. Depo shots that cost
around $1800 and still, before we knew it, I was having laparoscopic surgery done to what we
thought would get rid of the Endometriosis.
We just knew that it would be all it would take to fix everything. Each time I had it done, it came
back worse than before. After 3 times, once a month, it was time to give up and get the bad
news. When the final test results came back from the last surgery, my doctor called to tell me
that I needed to go to her office so she could go over the results with me. I was scared, but yet,
excited. The news I got was forever life changing, she told me that at this point, my insides looked
like a spider had been inside of me and webbed all of my female organs together and she had done
all she knew to do and now it has come down to 2 choices, I could have a complete hysterectomy,
or die. On February 5th, 2003, I went in for surgery at the Moore Regional Medical Center. Not
thinking about the fact that it would send me into instant menopause, it was nothing but misery for

Essay “Infidel”
About two years ago I read Ayaan Hirsi Ali s memoir Infidel and was immensely moved by her
story, especially the atrocities she went through in her childhood in Africa and the way she
struggled to flee from an oppressive life. At that time, I could not imagine that anyone (except
fanatic Muslims), let alone victims of the same oppression that she was, would not share her
feelings and views. However, the reading of Ian Buruma s Murder in Amsterdam sheds light on
bigger and obscure components of this story, which clearly influenced some people to disapprove
her behavior even Islamic women. Like in Hirsi Ali s story, Ian Buruma also identifies nuances in

19). The shadow of World War II fueled the endeavor to put up a political system of tolerance
and well fare in which welcoming the diversity of races and cultures seems to serve as a
justification for the shameful past. Never again, said the well meaning defenders of the
multicultural ideal, must Holland betray a religious minority (p. 51). Contradictorily, although
being part of this story and having his own family suffered from to the Nazi occupation, Van
Gogh made of the Jews one target of his cruel intellectual attacks. And like them, were the
Muslims also his victims . By calling himself the village idiot , Van Gogh thought he could say
whatever he wished to whomever he wanted. Ironically, he then turned to be a victim of the same
violence he so fiercely abhorred, after directing the film Submission. As a child, he was eccentric,
provocative, and hard to deal with, said his mother, and as an adult he turned into a fierce supporter
of the Enlightment. Maybe that was one of the reasons why he always contested whatever and
everything that was incongruent to secular values. To shake things up was Van Gogh s aim in life ,
says Buruma (p. 70). No doubt that Van Gogh found room for his harsh critiques against alienated
immigrants in a time when the unlimited tolerance, something that many Dutch are so proud of,
seemed to be backfiring on themselves and on their harmonious well fare state. His

I Wondered as Lonely as a Cloud
This lyrical poem by the author who was a pioneer of the Romantic movement, uses the earths
elements and human emotions to take him back and recollect how much something had an an
effect it had on him at the time. Around the time he wrote this poem in 1804 ???? He is
wandering alone up hill and down dales and comes across a vision so beautiful that it is
imprinted in his mind forever. Memories are what make us and without them we would not be
able to manage. The image of that memory, is what makes this poem so lovely that you feel at

It is also clever that he uses the title of the poem as the 1st line in stanza 1. Language is
figurative and the reader is left in no doubt what the poet is saying as the words seem to dance
along fluttering, twinkle, tossing glee and bliss . You have the use of personification where
daffodils are personified as a crowd of people, also as dancers and this continues throughout the
poem. Where he mentions never ending this is an exaggeration as his eyes could only see a
certain distance away. The use a metaphor is how he describes the memories he has when he
mentions inward eye . Alliteration is also used for example, sparkling and sprightly as well as
beneath and besides . Use of O er instead of Over is called Archiac i.e it is abbreviated. This was
used a lot by Romantic poets to give it an oldern Romantic quality and also fit in line with the meter
The meter is regular and consistent and comes over as tidy and orderly. Bibolography. Norton

Analysis Of Watchman By Alan Moore And Dave Gibbon
Take a moment to think of a superhero. What comes to mind? Superman, with his iconic pairing
of a red cape and a blue suit, or perhaps Batman s dark and mysterious bat costume? Now choose a
female superhero, such as Wonder Woman. Revealing armor that barely protects anything besides
her torso and wrists, and a focus on beauty and stereotypical femininity instead of functionality and
her primary role as a strong, respected heroine. This same trend of sexualizing and looking down
upon women is as rampant in current media as it is throughout Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon s
appraised graphic novel Watchman through the story s negative and humiliating depictions of
female superherocharacters and their relationships. Watchmen reinforces these... Show more content

According to an article on self defense, the six most effective ways to incapacitate an attacker are
to strike the knees, groin, throat, jaw, nose, and eyes, five of which are entirely unprotected and all
of which are inadequately protected when Laurie wears her costume. This attire is obviously not
designed to protect Laurie, who wore the outfit specifically to fight violent crime and would
therefore often end up in dangerous interactions with criminals; instead, the outfit is meant to make
an obvious point of Laurie s femininity and sexuality as a woman.
The costume s focus on a sexualized female body is noticeable immediately, as it exposes her
chest and legs and the sides of her breasts. The outfit even features heels that are entirely unrealistic
in a fight. The costume continues to sexualize Laurie through the use of symbolism. The long cut
down Laurie s front (see Fig. 1) resembles an arrow pointing towards Laurie s privates, giving the
outfit an overwhelming theme of sexuality and an entire lack of functionality.
Laurie s outfit can be contrasted very easily to the male heroes costumes throughout the novel.
Every hero costume a male character wears throughout Watchmen features at least some form of
functionality (see Fig. 2); the Comedian s attire features body armor, most noticeably covering
his shoulders; Ozymandias s outfit is made mostly of some sort of metal for protection; Rorschach

Analyzing Eminem s Song Rap God
Rap God is a song by Eminem. The text type is therefore lyrics. The lyrics target the listeners of
this song. Considering the fact that the lyrics are in English and Eminem being an American
artist, the primary audience would be hip hop/rap listeners from the US aged 14 to 30. Since
Eminem wrote this song to mock other rappers, the other rappers would be the secondary
audience. Because Eminem is such a well known artist, his audience can be expanded. Therefore,
global English speaking hip hop/rap listeners are the tertiary audience. The purpose of this song is
to show everybody that he is the best rapper on earth. He uses poetic communication to convey his
message. He does that by means of examples of his achievements in his life. Through these
examples he is trying to show that he is the best rapper in the world and that no other rapper... Show

This is a metaphor. General Zod is a warlord of the planet Krypton in the Superman comics.
General Zod is a symbol for Eminem. He is basically telling people to kneel down before him
because he is a superhero. He continues the metaphor in the next line: So you be Thor and I ll
be Odin, you rodent, I m omnipotent. In Norse mythology Odin is a great person; he is almost
comparable to God. Thor is his son and therefore less powerful. This suggests that all the rappers
can be good but he will always be more superior. This sentiment is accentuated by the words
rodent and omnipotent . All the rappers are rodents. Rodents are mammals descendent from
Rodentia such as mice and rats. Here it becomes clear that Eminem looks down to the other
rappers because is indirectly calling them rats. He himself is omnipotent meaning he is the most
powerful of all. In addition, when he raps this part of the song, he puts emphasis on the syllable po
(om ni PO tent) instead of om NI po tent. This makes the word potent stand out, emphasizing his

The 1800 s were a time when the art of special effects was revolutionized. At first, they would use
motion toys to trick the eye into seeing things that were not really there. By 1905, there were the
first five cent movie theaters, or nickelodeons, that offered an inexpensive way for the public to
watch movies. These theaters caused the appeal of movies to skyrocket. The 1930 s era of film
was considered the golden age in which sound was first introduced to film. During the 1950 s, the
film industry took a huge turn with the invention of the television bringing home entertainment to

Case Study Vicarious Trauma
Brief Description Vicarious Trauma, Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, and Resiliency
The demands of today s healthcare providers and mental health workers, has become challenging
due to the complexities and mass influx of mental health disorders. Although some of these
problems may seem small when compare to trauma and crisis. The population affected by trauma
and crisis can be challenging to those that work directly with this population. Conversely, many
workers of this population suffer from burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. Burnout
is defined as of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that produces a lack of interest in
everyday activities, and work related constant stress and trauma. Compassion fatigue is when
workers no longer have feelings of compassion, due to exhibiting on going empathy (James
Gilliland, 2017). Counselors that suffer from Vicarious Trauma, is when human service workers
are affected by trauma responses in caring for these individuals, and they start to feel traumatized

Analysis Of Deborah Brandt s Sponsors Of Literacy Essay
Introduction: In Deborah Brandt s essay Sponsors of Literacy, Brandt describes the process of
how people become literate, the effect of their experiences, and influential people on their
learning. The term that Brandt uses frequently to describe those who have a profound influence
on a child s learning is literacy sponsor. She defines literacy sponsors as, Agents, local or distant,
concrete, or abstract, who enable, support, teach, model, as well as recruit, regulate, suppress, or
withhold literacy and gain advantage by it in some way, (Wardle 46). Essentially, Brandt is
saying that every literate person has had the support of a person or idea that inspires their desire

Carpal Tunnel Release Research Paper
Carpal Tunnel Release
Carpal tunnel release is a surgical procedure to relieve numbness and pain in your hand caused by
carpal tunnel syndrome.
Your carpal tunnel is a narrow, hollow space in your wrist. It passes between your wrist bones and
a band of connective tissue (transverse carpal ligament). The nerve that supplies most of your hand
(median nerve) passes through this space. So do the connections between your fingers and the
muscles of your arm (tendons). Carpal tunnel syndrome makes this space swell and narrow, causing
pain and numbness.
In carpal tunnel release surgery, a surgeon cuts through the transverse carpal tunnel ligament to
make more room in the carpal tunnel space. You may have this surgery if other types of treatment

Bleeding.
Infection.
Symptoms that continue after surgery.
Symptoms that return after surgery.
Injury to the median nerve.
Need for additional surgery. BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
Ask your health care provider about: o Changing or stopping your regular medicines. This is
especially important if you are taking diabetes medicines or blood thinners. o Taking medicines
such as aspirin and ibuprofen. These medicines can thin your blood.
Do not take these medicines before your procedure if your health care provider instructs you not to.
Carpal tunnel release may be done using: o Numbing medicine injected directly into your wrist
area (local anesthesia). You may also get medication through an intravenous line (IV) to make you
sleepy and relaxed (sedation). o Medication to make you sleep during the procedure (general
anesthesia). If you will have general anesthesia, do not eat or drink anything for 6 8 hours before
surgery.
Arrange to have someone drive you home.
PROCEDURE
This is what may happen during the procedure:

Importance Of Family Relationships
The connection of various individual by marriage, blood, etc are considered as family relationships.
Moreover, these connections are considered to be the most important building block for the
comprehensive development of individuals in our society. Family relationships, whether they may
be harmonious or disruptive, serves as an important driving force for all individuals interactions in
the outside world. While, these relationships may either be destructive or harmonious, they promote
the transmission of good behaviours, cultural influences and other specific ways of life from the
older to the younger members of the familyunit. Harmonious relationships are more pleasing and
consistently allows members of the family to feel more comfortable. Also, a strong bond is formed
among the family members. On the other hand, destructive family relationships builds and maintain
tension between the individuals, which ultimately prevents the proper transfer of good values and
attitudes to the members. This type of relationship can be directly attributed to the future problems
faced by individuals nurtured by the a disruptive family. In Two Kind by Amy Tan and Story of the
Hour by Kate Chopin, family relationships plays an important role in the outcome of an individual
in both positive and negative manner.
Family relationships are sometimes hard to maintain and sometimes it is also the best part of
growing up. In Two Kinds by Amy Tan, readers are presented with a mother daughter

Why Software Testing With Real Users
Week6 Hand in Assignment
There are a number of reasons why software testing with real users views are important, even if the
software is still being developed. One of the main reasons is that testing can bring value to the end
product. Software testing demonstrates that defects are detected in the application that was
developed. The process validates and verifies the software in order to ensure that the product meets
the highest business and technical requirements that directed its design and development in the first
place. The stakeholders involved in development or purchasing of software spend tremendous
amount of resources in doing so and tend to want the software testing efforts to succeed and ensure
that a quality product be produced. Hence, it is important for them to test the software in order to
validate their implementations.
The prototyping phase involves making critical decisions regarding the functionality, effectiveness,
and appropriateness of the new system to be developed [Ambler, 2002]. It is part of the rudimentary
phase of software development cycle, there can be significant cost of iteration if there are any major
changes that are made to the system functionality after the design gets converted into code
implementations or in a working model. In the development cycle, there are many instances during
the process of software development when the stakeholders/clients change their requirements mid
way or the development team may have misinterpreted

How Myringotomy Is A Surgical Procedure
Myringotomy is a surgical procedure in which a small incision is made in the eardrum (the
tympanic membrane), usually in both ears. The English word is derived from myringa, modern
Latin for drum membrane, and tome, Greek for cutting. It is also called myringocentesis,
tympanotomy, tympanostomy of the tympanic membrane. Fluid in the middle earcan be drawn out
through the incision. Ear tubes, or tympanostomy tubes, are small tubes open at both ends that are
inserted into the incisions in the eardrums during myringotomy. They come in various shapes and
sizes and are made of plastic, metal, or both. Eustachian tubeis a 35mm long auditory tube, functions
to connect the middle earto the upper pharynx. They are left in place until they fall out by
themselves or until they are removed by a doctor. Fluid collection that lasts longer than three
months and does not respond to drug treatment. This condition is also called glue ear. Myringotomy
is the recommended treatment if the condition lasts four to six months. Effusion refers to the
collection of fluid that escapes from blood vessels or the lymphatic system. In this case, the
effusion collects in the middle ear. Acute inflammation of the middle ear with effusion is treated
with one or two courses of antibiotics . Antihistamines and decongestants have been used, but they
have not been proven effective unless there is also hay fever or some other allergic inflammation
that contributes to the problem. Myringotomy with or

Roman generals. During 27 BCE, under Princeps Augustus reign, the Praetorian guard became a
permanent bodyguard for the Emperors consisting of nine cohorts, altogether totally to over 4500
men enlisted in the protection of himself and his family. Following Augustus death, the nature and
structure of the Praetorian began to change, the most significant of these changes occurring under
the reign of Tiberius, aided by Praetorian prefect Sejanus; the Praetorian guard gained a political

Prefect Sejanus used his relationship with Princeps Tiberius in order to achieve supremacy over
Rome, succeeding in ruling over Rome in partnership with the Emperor, thus connecting the power
of the Senate with that of the Guard. Upon Sejanus downfall and Macro s assumption to Prefect,
the relationship between the Principate and the Praetorian Guard once again strengthened, as the
societies perception of the apparent heir Gaius was moulded by his close relationship with Macro.
However, this relationship became strained, as Gaius feared the power the Guard had over Rome
and eventually resulted in the killing of Macro and his wife. The development of the Principate was
largely changed in 51 AD when Burrus assumed the position of Prefect, and as Nero became the
Princeps. Burrus, alongside Seneca, undertook many of the burdens from the Princeps, regulating
imperial policies and administration duties, further cementing the Praetorian Guards judicial role
and the change in the Principates responsibilities. The Praetorian Guard evolved from being the
bodyguards of the Empire to becoming advisors to the Princeps, thus changing the role of the

The front of the painting looks open but when looking toward the back it seems almost crowded

When taking a closer look and analyzing everything that is happening in Motley s Nightlife, it
provides an understanding of the piece. Each person in the piece seems to be happy with many of
them laughing and smiling. All of them appear to be having a good time listening to jazz music and
swing dancing. In a study conducted by Rhoda Feldman at the University of Illinois at Urbana

predominately African Americanwith families of low income. The study was conducted to see
what these children observed from various artworks. The students observed the same that these

was jazz music and swing dancing, they replied background. Even these elementary school
children realized that Motley s artwork clearly shows African American culture. (insert citation)

The ability to carry out the law fairly and reasonably in our country is an important area of our
government. However, recently lines have become more blurred on what fair and reasonable are
when concerning the latest technology. It can be difficult to distinguish what law enforcement
should be permitted to do in gray areas such as password protected smartphones that cannot be
easily hacked into but is it not necessary to be able to access such an influential tool in a person s

Computer forensics (which applies to personal computers, mobile phones, pagers, etc.) has been
indispensable in cracking cases involving terrorism, sexual predation, and even murder .
Unfortunately, though, more recently technology has become more secure, password protected,
and encrypted, which causes intense difficulty in the use of computer forensics in investigative
work. There have been dozens of crimes committed where technology, if it were accessible,
would have played a critical role in its solution. Yet due to the passwords on these phones,
information that might be so crucial is unavailable to police. In particular, there was a murder

incapable of getting many leads, and they were not able to access the young woman s phone,

The Four Ps Of Marketing

a. List and explain the Four Ps of marketing (Short explanations in your own words.)
Price What a consumer is willing to give up to obtain your product. If a supplier sets a price higher
than what a consumer is willing to pay, then the consumer is unlikely to complete the transaction.
Product The good or service a supplier provides for a consumer.
Promotion How a company communicates their product or service to the public and specifically to
their desired customer. Without effective promotion and advertising, customers are unlikely to hear
about and understand what s being sold.

Place relates to Major League Soccer in terms of location of each teams stadium. This is key in all
sports, teams must locate themselves in places where they will be able to attract fans to attend
their matches at high rates. Teams like Atlanta United F.C. and the Seattle Sounders have placed
themselves in prime locations to succeed. They both have done a great job with perfecting where
they play to help increase attendance to their games. While the MLS average attendance per match
is a mere 21,823, Seattle have averaged 42,892 and Atlanta have averaged 46,721 per match. These
two teams aren t even in first place in their conference, but they were able to place themselves in
locations that are effective for them to record these much higher averages of attendance.
c. Rank the four in order of importance to your product. Explain your rankings.
Promotion Promotion is going to be the most important aspect of our product since there is
currently not enough marketing of MLS. You can find an advertisement for the NFL on almost any
channel but you will rarely see a commercial or promotion for major league soccer.
Product The MLS has recently been lacking competition. There tends to be a handful of teams that
compete for the top spots and then the rest of the league, who battle for the bottom ranks. These top
teams garner the most attention and fan base while the other teams struggle to keep fans interested.

population cause overcrowded places it also creates unsanitary environments, which is not good for
the city or the people. The growth of Manchester took away the beauty of the city. Southey is a

influence in his response since the Industrial Revolution darkens the city and took away its beauty.
In Document 7, it shows a picture of a part of the city, which has many factories and buildings.
The factories in the picture are creating smoke, which blackens the sky and the city. Also, there

Persuasive Essay On Why We Are Homeless
Throughout our cities streets we see a majority of people who are homeless everyday. What was
once almost a rare site to see, has now become something common and is increasing in great
numbers. As a society our first instinct when we see a homeless person is to ignore them and
judge them based on how they look and what they re doing. We don t seem to take into
consideration that they may be homeless based on their circumstances. Many people try to help
those who are homeless, but it s not enough. If we have laws that prevents people from being
homeless, then shouldn t we have laws enforcing resources for those who find themselves
homeless? As a society we have many ways to help those who desperately want and need the help.
It would not be a matter of supporting them forever but helping them and giving them the
opportunity to get back on their feet. We have the ability to create a system that offers people a
second chance when life has knocked them down. In 2015 a study was found where it was
discovered that over five hundred thousand people in America alone were experiencing
homelessnessin some way or another. Throughout those numbers we don t know how many of
them are children. Does that change the way we choose to look at the issue? Families who have
become homeless are also apart of those numbers and they are increasing rapidly. Homeless families
make up about forty percent of the homeless population. Homeless shelters are not all that common

The Case Of A Christmas Carol
marriage and gender roles. In the case of A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens wants readers to see
how living a life that radiates love and promotes happiness is better than being selfish and living a
miserable life, and how past circumstances heavily influence who we are as people. The two
messages both authors want readers to take away from the story, although different, achieve the
takeaway through the utilization first person narration. Furthermore, the narration in these stories
also consists of free indirect discourse, which is a type of third person narration that also
incorporates elements of first person narration. In both A Christmas Caroland Pride and Prejudice,
free indirect discourse has the same purpose it acts as a way for a way the characters thoughts to
shine through and become intertwined with the narrators thoughts. This causes the characters
feelings and thoughts to be validated and be made known, which adds credibility to the narrator
and creates another layer of depth within the stories. The use of first person narration and free
indirect discourse is the same in both novels and allows the reader to take away the message at
hand, however, the tone of the narration within the two novels slightly differs. In Pride and
Prejudice, Jane Austenallows her voice and opinions to be known through her narrator by being
subtly critical of social hierarchy and marriage for power and status. Even though she does this, the

The Jewish Experience in Venice in the Age of the Ghetto...

Part of a city where people of a particular race or class, especially people who are poor, live

city where Jews were forced to live in the past ( LD 678 ).
As a result, the first general definition appears connected with the more specific example of the

As a result, Jews had been suspected of favouring the enemy during the war against Turkish
Empire, leading in this way to the growing of feeling against themselves. Louis Wirth has the
merit to have defined the Ghetto as an historical institution with a social role , and just like that
it was. As a matter of fact, a commercial empire like Venice needed liquid capital and needed to
borrow and lend; Roth suggests an even more delicate consideration, which is the fact that
expelling the Jews from Venice, as it had been decided after the great victory of Christian powers
on Turkish force on October 7th of 1571, would [have] strengthen the power of the Turkish
empire, as the exile from Spain had done before them ( Roth 91 ). So ,the establishment of the
Jews Ghetto that had been made in 1516 was the only mean to control the minority of Jews.
They would have been also important since they were useful as merchants and as craftsmen (
another time, the economical decadence of Spain after the expulsion of thousand of Jewish
craftsmen in 1492 served as an example in the making of the Venetian Laws) . Besides, the Jews
community of Venice was a guide and a model in religion and legal issues, and there were a lot of

not only creates new products for retail companies to sell, but also plays a major role in changing
the way retail companies do business. There are trends in the retail industry in general that allow
businesses to develop new processes that increase efficiency with computerized sales and data
analysis to easily access and manipulate information for innovative research purposes.
Government in the Macro Environment The Animal Welfare Act was signed into law in 1966. It is
the only Federal law in the United States that regulates the treatment of animals in research,
exhibition, transport, and by dealers. There are rules in effect for housing, care, and welfare,
including disaster planning. In addition, there are a few federal regulations that have an impact on
the production and sale of pet food products. As of 2007, the Food and Drug Administration
developed regulations on pet food ingredients and processing control standards.

Leap Of The Brethren Pantry Summary
Least of the Brethren is a local food pantry in Pinkneyville, it is where I am choosing to plunge for
my assignment. I am choosing this culture because of the high number of low socioeconomic
students that attend school in our area. I feel it is important to understand the needs in our area in
order to connect with future students and their families. To be very honest, I know there is a great
needfor support in our area. However, I assume the families that need this support also receive
government assistance through programs such as WIC and Link. Plunging into this culture I hope
to gain a better understanding of why pantries are still needed and how I can become more active
in addressing the need locally. With the knowledge I hope to gain... Show more content on

During the break the volunteers asked us several questions. From what I gathered all of the
volunteers also need the assistance of the pantry. Many asked us how they could help us, assuming
we had fallen on hard times. I assured them they we were just there to help them and donate our
time. Volunteers receive each goods in their boxes in return for their help.
Application of Plunge Experience Prior to taking the plunge I was not aware that even with
government programs there is still a need for pantries in our local area. This brings a very large
challenge to my educational environment. I will need to find out which students will require this
need to be addressed. As a classroom teacher, I will need to bring awareness to the students that do
not have this need that a part of their role in our community is to help those in need. This can be
done through volunteering and donations.
The challenge that individuals from the group will bring to the education environment is one that
directly impact their learning. It is well understood that children cannot learn until their most basic
needs are met. Yes, we offer free breakfast to students, but many arrive too late to receive this
service and often one muffin is not enough to address their hunger. This plunge made me aware of
the challenges many students will face in my

Analyzing The Song Good Riddance By Billie Joe Armstrong
Good Riddance by Green Day is my theme for my eighth grade year. This song was written by
Billie Joe Armstrong for the album Nimrod in 1997.
In the album recording of the song Billie messes up the opening chord progression twice before
saying a quiet explicative and playing the song correctly. The first couple weeks were pretty rough
for me and I often messed up or did things that I later regretted. This song is often played at
graduations and weddings, but this was not the intention of Billie Joe when he wrote the piece.
Billie wrote it about a breakup and his lyrics and style of the song is meant to be sarcastic and
bitter. Unfortunately most people don t know this and thus it s like the song doesn t know whether
it should be sarcastic or melancholy. During this year I never knew where I belong. I am ... Show

Everyone I am friends with has friends that they know better or longer and would rather hang
out with. Everytime I feel like I finally am in control something happens that throws everything
off again. Good Riddance is different from the rest of the album in its sound. It has a soft
calming acoustic guitar with even a violin solo in the middle of the track contrasting highly with
the distorted electric guitar and powerful drumming in the album s other tracks. For a punk rock
album this song is way too poppy to be tolerated. It s existence itself is ironic as the bandmates
themselves have said that the song is so not punk that it is punk to include it in Nimrod. During
this year I felt like this track in the album. I felt like I was the only one around who was like me,
everyone else seemed different and distant. Like how Good

The Five Themes Of Geography In Wailuku
My name is Elijah Holdeman I was born in Wailuku, (Maui) Hawaii. Today I would like to visit the
five themes of geography in Wailuku. We will look at the location, the place, the region, the human
/environment interactions, and the movement. LOCATION
Wailuku is located in the North East Part of Maui on the border of the peninsula sticking out to
the ocean. Wailuku in ancient times was home to many ancient hawaiian rulers including
kamehameha (1758 1782). In the 19 hundreds Wailuku became the location of the century
mission stations and the birthplace of the great sugar industries. I believe this area was chosen
because it separates the past two great water supplies. Now it is a beach front and central power
area. (20*53 31* N 156*30,8* W) East of The mainland U.S.. PLACE ... Show more content on

A lot of roads are different than roads in the main land. Human characteristics includes natives
beating up or harming foreigners (haole). Most humans are Hawaiian or Japanese. The natural
environment is the mountain peak pu u kukui. And the beach all other land is houses and resorts.
The difference between Wailuku and other towns in hawaiiis the reason it was built, the history, the
wars and battles, and the central of government. At this day and age it is a mix of many different
cultures. In the ancient times there was only polynesian culture. At this time it is around half native

Pearl Harbor Conspiracy
On December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Hawaii, was attacked by Japanese torpedo and
bomber planes. This attack took the lives of 2,402 Americans and left around 1,282 people injured.
The surprise attack caused outrage in the American people, news media, government and the world.
The following day President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed the nation and United States
Congress, in response to the attack. In that address, the president asked Congress to declare war
on Japan. Congress voted and passed the U.S. Declaration of War on Japan, that very same day.
That was America`s entry into World War II. Previous to this attack Americans were reluctant to
get involved in another world war, the President on the other hand been trying to convince
congress to declare war. So as it turned out a surprise attack was exactly what was needed to get
the American people to unite in supporting joining the war. This idea has led to the Pearl Harbor
Advance Knowledge conspiracy theory. The general idea of this conspiracy theory is that President
Franklin D. Roosevelt and other government officials had knowledge that Japan was planning an
attack before the attack happened. It even goes as far to claim that the government did somethings
to encourage the attack. The reason the president did not take steps to prevent it was that he was
enthusiastic in joining the war. Like with any conspiracy theory there is

Confucianism And Its Influence On Society
Confucianism can be regarded as a religion, a belief, a way of ruling and a basis for laying the
ground rules for the East Asian countries. Confucianism had gone through so many transformations
and has been affected by many religions and dynasties. Many dynasties have adapted the ways of
Confucianism, which state that there is a connection between humans and heaven. However, as
time progressed, religions such as Buddhismand Daoism also adapted the ways of Confucianism,
but they changed some of its ways, leading to new form of this learning. The Buddhists and the
Daoists changed and adapted their philosophies based on Confucian views towards the universe
and the society, as well as stripping their own belief from superstitions and myths. These lead to a
new learning of Confucianism, called the Neo Confucianism, referred to as Dao Xue (the Learning
of the Way) or Li Xue (the Learning of the Principle/Reason) (Yau 8).
Neo Confucianism was adopted into Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese schools. While it was
mentioned that it was mostly Buddhism that lead to new changes in Confucianism, other religions
played an important role in adapting and changing the method as well and were adopted by
different Asian countries. The Christian approach towards Neo Confucianism was mostly practiced
around Korea, China, And Vietnam; the Islamic adaptation was practiced in other parts of China
as well as Central Asia; and Neo Buddhism approach was practiced in parts of Japan and Chine.

Mid Tribulation Argument
Mid tribulation believers hold a belief that the church will still be on Earth the first three and one
half years of the tribulation. They believe that the first half of the tribulation they will go through,
as well as the second half (the worst half), will send them to heaven to join God s army. One main
supporting idea for the mid tribulation argument is the thought of separating the lambs and the
goats. Mid tribulationists believe that true Christians and believers in Christ and of God will go
through the first half of the tribulation, hold onto their faith, and persevere onto God. The lamb is
referring to the body of Christ, while the goat is referring to the Devil and those who do not
believe in God. Tribulation is split into two

Why Demographic Trends Spell Trouble For China And Russia
Introduction All around us there are forecasts predicting the future. Whether it s an article in
Forbes entitled Why Demographic Trends Spell Trouble For China And Russia And Prosperity
For US predicting a prosperous economy for the United State and Canada in 2035 (Preston, 2015)
or the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg at the F8 2016 Conference unveiling his roadmap on
what Facebook would look like in 10 years (Buxton, 2016). Both are examples of predictionthat use
different forecast techniques to predict a future outcome. The article from Forbes, predicts a
possible future due to demographic trends, whereas, Mark Zuckerberg forecasts a preferably or
probable future due to advancements in technology. However, there are number of different
forecastingtechniques that are used today in business, government, and military to predict future
outcomes. This paper looks at the different techniques for forecasting the future and how some
futurists use these different techniques for predicting future trends, technologies, and events.
Forecasting Methods First it must be noted, that no forecasting technique can be certain, however,
they can come close to a possible, preferable, or probable future. Second, the further into the future
the predictions the higher the uncertainty of the forecast (Gordon, 2009). The reason for greater
uncertainty is the possible of a wild card or black swam event happening that would be a total
surprise and have a major effect on the long term

These kinds of meetings will take place in an office room and when there will be a set date and
time for this. The way this kind or research will be carried out is by setting up an application for
a job role and then waiting for the applicants to apply. Once they have applied to the role you will
then need to invite them in for an interview. You will do this type of research when you need to
find an employee or if you need to interview someone for particular information.
Doing interviews has many advantages such as they are useful to obtain detailed information
about feelings because you will be able to see how that person reacts to your questions, you are
able to ask more detailed questions, they have a high response rate and the interviewees won t be
influenced by others.
With advantages there comes disadvantages such as they are very time consuming and they can be
costly.
Surveying is also a form of primary research and it is a good way to discover what a large
amount of people think about a particular subject and you can cover a wider range. Businesses
will use this method of research. The reason they will use this method is because it is able to
cover a large quantity of people and what their views are on a particular issue. This kind of
research can be created on the computer and then

During the attack, the New York City militiamen fought a brutal struggle with defending German
troops. Heavy casualties were sustained on both sides.
The Germans nicknamed these troops quot;Hell Fighters. quot; Their brave actions earned the
French Croix de Guerre award for the entire regiment which was cited as quot;the regiment that
never lost a man captured, a trench or a foot of ground... quot;
Their next encounter with war was World War 2. The 37th Ohio National Guard quot;Buckeyes
quot; Division took part in the assault to drive Japanese forces out of Manila. It was treacherous
fighting. The Japanese had fortified buildings and the 37th found themselves fighting block by
block, floor by floor, and room by room. One squad leader found himself the object of a bayonet
charge by six Japanese soldiers from 30 yards away. Sergeant Billy E. Vinson warded off the first
bayonet thrusts, then opened up with his rifle and dispatched the attackers with a single sustained
burst of gunfire. He held his ground until all wounded soldiers in the vicinity could be evacuated.
As their Division history states, quot; For those who missed Normandy or Casino, Manila would
do. quot; During the Korean War Puerto Rico s 65th Infantry Regiment was south of Seoul when
orders came to take two hills held by the Chinese. The assault took three days. On the morning of
the third day, the tops of the hills were within reach. Two battalions of the 65th fixed bayonets and

  • 2. John Cooper s The Last Of The Mohicans The Last of the Mohicans begins three years into the French and Indian War. The French allied with Native Americans conspire to seize Fort William Henry, the plans are cut off by a Native scout named Magua. Magua presents the plans to British General Webb, who counters by sending troops to reinforce Colonel Munro at Fort William Henry. After the troops leave, Munro s daughters, Alice and Cora demand to be escorted to see their father. General Webb sends the daughters with Major Heyward, as they leave, they run into a stranger. The stranger happens to be Magua, who decides to lead the group Fort William Henry. Awhile later the group meets a second stranger whose name is David Gamut a psalmodist who seems very out of place forest. Gamut explains he is lost and would like to join the group, he is accepted . A couple miles away Hawkeye and his Mohican friend Chingachgook are talking, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many immigrants were white and looked at Native American lifestyle as weird and different. This helped fuel racism against the Natives. However, some people were tolerant and befriended the natives and believed they were just as equal and welcomed to lands as the white. Cooper explores the idea of a white man and native man becoming friends by introducing Hawkeye the white hunter and his Native American companion Chingachgook. Cooper then goes a little deeper by setting up the attraction between Uncas and Cora and by uncovering Colonel Munro s first wife who was of African descent. Cooper seems to be trying to show that a person could have a healthy and happy relationship with a Native American or any type of race. By the end of the story, it seems as though Cooper believes that the beliefs at the time were wrong and that they should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. House On Mango Street Compare And Contrast Essay According to talkproverty.org 21.4% of Hispanics in America are living in poverty. A book call The House on Mango Street and a movie call Stand and Deliver, represent the struggle of being a Hispanic in America. The House on Mango Street is similar to the movie, Stand and Deliver because the characters were judged based on where they lives, the characters have low self esteem, and the females were expected to take care of family. The House on Mango Street is also different from the movie, Stand and Deliver, because of the encouragement the characters received by adults, the relationships the characters build, and the different viewpoint the characters have on where they will be in the future. In my opinion, The House on Mango Street interests me more than Stand and Deliver, because the book leaves you wondering what is going to happen next, allows you to imagine the characters, and it has different storylines.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the book and movie the characters are judged based on where they lived. In the movie, the district did not believe that the students received the high test scores because they lived in poverty. Similar to, how the woman did not allow Esperanza to sit in the cool kids area for lunch since she lived in the apartments. From Stand and Deliver, Pancho did not think he was smart enough to solve the calculus equation on the board. Compared to, Esperanza, who called her feet ugly, we can infer that both characters have low self esteem. The last similarity I want to talk about is the how the female characters were expected to take care of their family. Esperanza had to take care of her sister in the book just as how Lupe had to take care of her siblings because her mom comes home late. This shows that females are expected to take care of ... Mad Dogs, Englishmen, and the Errant Anthropologist Essay Mad Dogs, Englishmen, and the Errant Anthropologist Reflection In his book Mad Dogs, English, and the Errant Anthropologist, Raybeck discusses his observations as he immerses himself in Wakaf Bharu, a city in the state of Kelantan, Malaysia. Throughout the ethnography, he discusses the various differences that he observes with the Kelantanese culture and the American culture, while using his prior knowledge to explain the observations he takes note of. By using these observations, Raybeck proceeds to answer different Naturalistic Questions which explain how Raybeck gathers the information and in what ways his studies impact the culture. Friends such as Yusof, Cik Din, and Encik Hussein aided him in giving a tour of the village, explaining certain customs that he was not aware of, giving him their life stories, allowing him to interview them as key informants, individuals who have a great rapport towards the fieldworker (Omohundro 64), and letting Raybeck accompany them to social events so that he could study the social behavior of the natives. As time passes by, his increased participation in the Kelantanese culture results in a greater rapport within the village. Once incident that really shows this acquired rapport was when he was studying the lives of the prostitutes in the nearby capital, Kota Bharu. A villager who asks him for a ride to the barbershop but detours to the nearest whorehouse, only to be seen by Raybeck. When the villager realizes that Raybeck caught him in the act, he proceeds in lying, trying to establish a reason for this sudden detour. Raybeck notes how this scene starts to show how his status changing from being an outsider through the act of lying, because He notices the change immediately as described from this section and it shows how a simple act of lying was able to show Raybeck s increasing rapport vividly. The challenges the Raybeck faces are the ethical issues involving the reporting of certain information. Personal information that came from the villagers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ukraine shares a longstanding history with Russia having only attained independence in 1991, and aimed to cultivate a relationship with Western Europe, particularly the European Union (EU). Discouragingly, twenty six years after independence Ukraine wrestles with a depleted economy inherited from former and first President Leonid Kravchuk. Leonid Kuchma, the country s second president, only fared slightly better than his predecessor but soon faltered. One of Russia s most well known acts of aggression against Ukraine was the annexation of Crimea. With evidence that Russia is attempting to expand its influence, how will this affect Ukraine s sovereignty and most importantly its policies? (The Atlantic 2014). Above all, it will be interesting to dissect how this affects education policies. In spite of pressure from Russia, in 2014 Ukrainian policymakers passed a legislation that empowered universities with more autonomy with their curriculum, finances and hiring practices. Before its passage, the government was overly involved in the design and implementation of education programs which inhibited faculty research endeavors (Freedom House 2016). The Electoral System Ukraine s next presidential and parliamentary election is scheduled for 2019. A mixed election system is utilized to elect the 450 legislative seats. 225 members of parliament are elected through first past the post voting (FPTP) with a five percent threshold from single member districts and the other 225 are selected from a closed list through proportional representation. In order for a party to be successful they must acquire a minimum of 5 percent of the votes. On Election Day, Ukrainians cast two ballots, a ballot in support of their local representative and political party (Freedom House 2016). More so than other parliamentary systems coalitions are imperative for victory. One of the most notable aspects on the 2014 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Reflection Paper On Endometriosis Endometriosis, if not diagnosed in time, could be a fatal disease that could lead to cancer. January 2003, was the day I received the devastating news that would change my life forever. My gynecologist informed me that I was eat up with Endometriosis and had no choice but to accept a complete hysterectomy. No one knows my body like me, so I knew that something was amiss when I was having menstrual cycles that just did not seem normal, not to mention the excruciating pain that I received every month along with it. I have performed a great deal of research and along with my personal story with Endometriosis, this is what I found. Living with The Effects of Endometriosis In 2002, I met my husband and as time went on, we decided that we would do whatever it took to have another baby. For most couples, it has been just a matter of the conception part of it. It was not going to be that easy for us because I had already had my tubes cut and burned so they said. However, we were not going to let that stop us. As time went on I had started doing research on the process that we would have to go through to make this dream come true. There were many trips back and forth to the doctor s office. Depo shots that cost around $1800 and still, before we knew it, I was having laparoscopic surgery done to what we thought would get rid of the Endometriosis. We just knew that it would be all it would take to fix everything. Each time I had it done, it came back worse than before. After 3 times, once a month, it was time to give up and get the bad news. When the final test results came back from the last surgery, my doctor called to tell me that I needed to go to her office so she could go over the results with me. I was scared, but yet, excited. The news I got was forever life changing, she told me that at this point, my insides looked like a spider had been inside of me and webbed all of my female organs together and she had done all she knew to do and now it has come down to 2 choices, I could have a complete hysterectomy, or die. On February 5th, 2003, I went in for surgery at the Moore Regional Medical Center. Not thinking about the fact that it would send me into instant menopause, it was nothing but misery for ... • 10. Essay “Infidel” About two years ago I read Ayaan Hirsi Ali s memoir Infidel and was immensely moved by her story, especially the atrocities she went through in her childhood in Africa and the way she struggled to flee from an oppressive life. At that time, I could not imagine that anyone (except fanatic Muslims), let alone victims of the same oppression that she was, would not share her feelings and views. However, the reading of Ian Buruma s Murder in Amsterdam sheds light on bigger and obscure components of this story, which clearly influenced some people to disapprove her behavior even Islamic women. Like in Hirsi Ali s story, Ian Buruma also identifies nuances in the main episode of the book an episode that at face value could be described as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 19). The shadow of World War II fueled the endeavor to put up a political system of tolerance and well fare in which welcoming the diversity of races and cultures seems to serve as a justification for the shameful past. Never again, said the well meaning defenders of the multicultural ideal, must Holland betray a religious minority (p. 51). Contradictorily, although being part of this story and having his own family suffered from to the Nazi occupation, Van Gogh made of the Jews one target of his cruel intellectual attacks. And like them, were the Muslims also his victims . By calling himself the village idiot , Van Gogh thought he could say whatever he wished to whomever he wanted. Ironically, he then turned to be a victim of the same violence he so fiercely abhorred, after directing the film Submission. As a child, he was eccentric, provocative, and hard to deal with, said his mother, and as an adult he turned into a fierce supporter of the Enlightment. I Wondered as Lonely as a Cloud This lyrical poem by the author who was a pioneer of the Romantic movement, uses the earths elements and human emotions to take him back and recollect how much something had an an effect it had on him at the time. Around the time he wrote this poem in 1804 ???? He is wandering alone up hill and down dales and comes across a vision so beautiful that it is imprinted in his mind forever. Memories are what make us and without them we would not be able to manage. The image of that memory, is what makes this poem so lovely that you feel at peace at the tranquil setting when you read it. It is also clever that he uses the title of the poem as the 1st line in stanza 1. Language is figurative and the reader is left in no doubt what the poet is saying as the words seem to dance along fluttering, twinkle, tossing glee and bliss . You have the use of personification where daffodils are personified as a crowd of people, also as dancers and this continues throughout the poem. Where he mentions never ending this is an exaggeration as his eyes could only see a certain distance away. The use a metaphor is how he describes the memories he has when he mentions inward eye . Alliteration is also used for example, sparkling and sprightly as well as beneath and besides . Use of O er instead of Over is called Archiac i.e it is abbreviated. Superman, with his iconic pairing of a red cape and a blue suit, or perhaps Batman s dark and mysterious bat costume? Now choose a female superhero, such as Wonder Woman. Revealing armor that barely protects anything besides her torso and wrists, and a focus on beauty and stereotypical femininity instead of functionality and her primary role as a strong, respected heroine. According to an article on self defense, the six most effective ways to incapacitate an attacker are to strike the knees, groin, throat, jaw, nose, and eyes, five of which are entirely unprotected and all of which are inadequately protected when Laurie wears her costume. This attire is obviously not designed to protect Laurie, who wore the outfit specifically to fight violent crime and would therefore often end up in dangerous interactions with criminals; instead, the outfit is meant to make an obvious point of Laurie s femininity and sexuality as a woman. The costume s focus on a sexualized female body is noticeable immediately, as it exposes her chest and legs and the sides of her breasts. The outfit even features heels that are entirely unrealistic in a fight. The costume continues to sexualize Laurie through the use of symbolism. The long cut down Laurie s front (see Fig. 1) resembles an arrow pointing towards Laurie s privates, giving the outfit an overwhelming theme of sexuality and an entire lack of functionality. Laurie s outfit can be contrasted very easily to the male heroes costumes throughout the novel. Every hero costume a male character wears throughout Watchmen features at least some form of functionality (see Fig. 2); the Comedian s attire features body armor, most noticeably covering his shoulders; Ozymandias s outfit is made mostly of some sort of metal for protection; Rorschach wears a simple dress shirt, a pair of slacks, and a long ... Why Software Testing With Real Users Week6 Hand in Assignment There are a number of reasons why software testing with real users views are important, even if the software is still being developed. One of the main reasons is that testing can bring value to the end product. Software testing demonstrates that defects are detected in the application that was developed. The process validates and verifies the software in order to ensure that the product meets the highest business and technical requirements that directed its design and development in the first place. The stakeholders involved in development or purchasing of software spend tremendous amount of resources in doing so and tend to want the software testing efforts to succeed and ensure that a quality product be produced. Hence, it is important for them to test the software in order to validate their implementations. The prototyping phase involves making critical decisions regarding the functionality, effectiveness, and appropriateness of the new system to be developed [Ambler, 2002]. It is part of the rudimentary phase of software development cycle, there can be significant cost of iteration if there are any major changes that are made to the system functionality after the design gets converted into code implementations or in a working model. Since the growth of industry and urbanization was on such a large scale in such little time there were both positive and negative issues and reactions. In Document 2, Robert Southey describes how streets were crowded due to the increase in population and how houses that are built of brick are blackened with smoke. The increase in factories creates pollution and the smoke that blackens the city. Also, not only does the increase in population cause overcrowded places it also creates unsanitary environments, which is not good for the city or the people. The growth of Manchester took away the beauty of the city. Southey is a romantic poet, so his views and thoughts are based off emotions and feelings, which could be an influence in his response since the Industrial Revolution darkens the city and took away its beauty. In Document 7, it shows a picture of a part of the city, which has many factories and buildings. The factories in the picture are creating smoke, which blackens the sky and the city. Also, there are no people in the picture which can mean that they are too busy working or that the city is too polluted that no one wants to be outside. The overall mood of the picture is depressing. This picture shows how the city was seen and viewed by the people, which also suggests that most people did not see the Industrial Revolution as a good thing or something that benefited them. What was once almost a rare site to see, has now become something common and is increasing in great numbers. As a society our first instinct when we see a homeless person is to ignore them and judge them based on how they look and what they re doing. We don t seem to take into consideration that they may be homeless based on their circumstances. Many people try to help those who are homeless, but it s not enough. If we have laws that prevents people from being homeless, then shouldn t we have laws enforcing resources for those who find themselves homeless? As a society we have many ways to help those who desperately want and need the help. It would not be a matter of supporting them forever but helping them and giving them the opportunity to get back on their feet. We have the ability to create a system that offers people a second chance when life has knocked them down. In 2015 a study was found where it was discovered that over five hundred thousand people in America alone were experiencing homelessnessin some way or another. Throughout those numbers we don t know how many of them are children. Does that change the way we choose to look at the issue? Families who have become homeless are also apart of those numbers and they are increasing rapidly. Homeless families make up about forty percent of the homeless population. • 36. The Case Of A Christmas Carol marriage and gender roles. In the case of A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens wants readers to see how living a life that radiates love and promotes happiness is better than being selfish and living a miserable life, and how past circumstances heavily influence who we are as people. The two messages both authors want readers to take away from the story, although different, achieve the takeaway through the utilization first person narration. Furthermore, the narration in these stories also consists of free indirect discourse, which is a type of third person narration that also incorporates elements of first person narration. In both A Christmas Caroland Pride and Prejudice, free indirect discourse has the same purpose it acts as a way for a way the characters thoughts to shine through and become intertwined with the narrators thoughts. This causes the characters feelings and thoughts to be validated and be made known, which adds credibility to the narrator and creates another layer of depth within the stories. The use of first person narration and free indirect discourse is the same in both novels and allows the reader to take away the message at hand, however, the tone of the narration within the two novels slightly differs. As a result, Jews had been suspected of favouring the enemy during the war against Turkish Empire, leading in this way to the growing of feeling against themselves. Louis Wirth has the merit to have defined the Ghetto as an historical institution with a social role , and just like that it was. As a matter of fact, a commercial empire like Venice needed liquid capital and needed to borrow and lend; Roth suggests an even more delicate consideration, which is the fact that expelling the Jews from Venice, as it had been decided after the great victory of Christian powers on Turkish force on October 7th of 1571, would [have] strengthen the power of the Turkish empire, as the exile from Spain had done before them ( Roth 91 ). So ,the establishment of the Jews Ghetto that had been made in 1516 was the only mean to control the minority of Jews. They would have been also important since they were useful as merchants and as craftsmen ( another time, the economical decadence of Spain after the expulsion of thousand of Jewish craftsmen in 1492 served as an example in the making of the Venetian Laws) .
