A talk that covers diferent types of retrospectives and how to run effective ones focusing on tools and behaviours. This talk also looks at the use of metaphors to add a different dynamics to these sessions.
Introduction to Assumptions Mapping - Agile2016David Bland
Abstract:
LeanUX is bridging the gap between Design Thinking and Agile. While teams are embracing experimentation, it is important that your teams don't waste all of their time running experiments on unimportant + known aspects of your product. Assumptions Mapping is a LeanUX exercise that gives you the power to facilitate a conversation with your team and enable them to focus on what matters. If you find yourself in an organization trying to adapt to conditions of extreme uncertainty, this workshop gives you actionable tools and advice that you can take back to your teams and apply right away.
Learning Outcomes:
How to use Assumptions Mapping to illustrate risk & focus your experimentation
How LeanUX is bridging the gap between Design Thinking and Agile
What leadership and facilitation styles you'll need for LeanUX to thrive in your organization
How Your Corporation Can Organize for InnovationDavid Bland
Innovation, innovation, innovation.
It is all you hear in meetings and all you read in business books and magazines. The confusing aspect behind all of this hype is that we rarely put thought into how we design environments so that innovation can emerge.
In this free 45 minute webinar, David J Bland a Principal Advisor at Neo San Francisco, will guide you through how corporations are funding, measuring and organizing for disruptive innovation.
How should I fund innovation? The pros and cons of horizon planning and incremental funding.
How do I measure innovation? Hint, it is not ROI. We'll cover the ins and outs of innovation accounting.
How will the teams organize for innovation? What are the working agreements between the team and leadership? What ceremonies should we have?
You'll leave this session with actionable advice on how you, as a leader, can effectively organize so that innovation will emerge within your corporation.
Using Northwoods' step-by-step framework, learn how to develop a robust blog that can boost website traffic and increase leads.
Northwoods President and CEO Pat Bieser presented this workshop at the company's (TUG) Titan User Group event on Thursday, June 4.
There are no “facts” about the future. Everything we think we know about tomorrow is based on what we think we know about the world today and our assumptions of where that will likely lead. Through a process of trial and error successful project managers, software developers, testers, and analysts usually develop a heightened sense of assumption recognition. But they often don’t think consciously about the assumptions they, their colleagues, business partners, and customers are making. Consulting project manager Payson Hall argues that improving your ability to detect and make assumptions explicit is a vital career skill. Payson will lead session attendees through a series of short experiential exercises to underscore the importance of identifying assumptions to facilitate problem solving, task definition, estimation, and conflict resolution. Gain insights that you can immediately apply in the workplace to improve your productivity and decision making.

Presentation by Em Campbell-Pretty & Adrienne Wilson at the Global SAFe Summit 2021
Mob Programming thought leader, Woody Zuill, suggests that instead of always focusing on solving problems, we also take the time to notice the things that are going well and amplify them, thereby "turning up the good". When it comes to SAFe Dean Leffingwell perhaps said it best: "There is no magic in SAFe . . . except maybe for PI Planning." I suspect most of you agree that PI Planning is the magic in SAFe. There is nothing quite like the energy created by bringing a group of 100+ people together to build a collaborative plan over a couple of days every 10 to 12 weeks. So what would it mean to "turn up the good in PI Planning"? If we focused on what is good and what we want more of, would we get more magic?! For Em and Adrienne, the answer is a resounding "Yes!" In this session, they will take the "The Facilitator’s Guide to PI Planning" and illustrate how turning up the good can bring your PI Planning magic to the next level.

Designer Games - Creative Exercises to Enhance Your WorkJohn H Douglass
Ultimately we’re all fighting for users, but which ideas will win their favor? Sometimes, in the battle arena of meetings, requirements and design reviews, the loudest voice gets heard but not necessarily the best. Sometimes design sensibilities and user feedback take a backseat to politics, short-term goals or decisions by committee. In this talk you’ll learn more about a few useful weapons, such as gamestorming and design critiques, to make sure the best ideas win.
Boston UXPA 2016 | What’s Worse: A Root Canal or Selecting Health InsuranceBecky Minervino
Why is selecting Health Insurance so painful? From the myriad of carrier choices to the endless amount of forms to the lack of transparency around what you’re are signing up for, the complexity around benefits selection is frustrating for both employees and employers. In order to make this process easier for everyone involved, Fidelity and BEAM set out to re-design this experience — taking an agile and collaborative approach to understanding how to make the process of selecting and managing health insurance better.
We'll talk about how we leveraged a variety of best practices and user-centered approaches to tackle this complex problem. This includes:
• Understanding the different constituents within the current Health Insurance experience: employees, employers, brokers and carriers;
• Our approach to understanding individual needs through interviews with benefits administrators across a variety of organizations;
• Distilling findings and incorporating design-sprints to arrive at “just enough” concepts en route to a full MVP;
• Validating concepts through prototyping and co-design with users to refine the experience;
• What worked well and what we are doing for the next phase of work.
Retrospectives: How (and Why) to Not Hate ThemHala Saleh
“If you could adopt only one practice from agile methodologies, it should be retrospectives.”, said Many Super Smart Experts. Retrospectives can inspire love, hate, and sometimes both, depending on who (and when) you ask. In this session we will explore the reasons why retrospectives get such a bad rap, how to think differently about participating in retrospectives, and explore some different ways retrospectives can be run.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
