Variable Voltage Source Equivalent Model of Modular Multilevel ConverterIJRES Journal
The structures of modular multilevel converter module (MMC) are very complex, and the
numerous sub-modules and output level number bring difficulties for the analysis and simulation. In this paper,
assuming the sub-capacitor voltage instantaneous value of a single arm is the same value, the switching
frequency of the switch is much higher than the output voltage frequency, the system harmonics were ignored,
the system state equations are deduced about the intermediate variables as circulation current and the capacitor
voltage between the upper and lower arms. On this basis, a variable voltage source continuous equivalent
model is proposed, which may replace the system physical simulation model with the actual simulation study. At
the same time, the model reflects the relationship between the output voltage and circulation current, which
provide a way to analyze the formation mechanism of circulation and the capacitor voltage fluctuations, and
make system analysis simple and intuitive. The simulation results validate that this continuous model is
rationality and correctness.

Effect of mesh grid structure in reducing hot carrier effect of nmos device s...ijcsa
This paper presents the critical effect of mesh grid that should be considered during process and device
simulation using modern TCAD tools in order to develop and optimize their accurate electrical
characteristics. Here, the computational modelling process of developing the NMOS device structure is
performed in Athena and Atlas. The effect of Mesh grid on net doping profile, n++, and LDD sheet
resistance that could link to unwanted “Hot Carrier Effect” were investigated by varying the device grid
resolution in both directions. It is found that y-grid give more profound effect in the doping concentration,
the junction depth formation and the value of threshold voltage during simulation. Optimized mesh grid is
obtained and tested for more accurate and faster simulation. Process parameter (such as oxide thicknesses
and Sheet resistance) as well as Device Parameter (such as linear gain “beta” and SPICE level 3 mobility
roll-off parameter “ Theta”) are extracted and investigated for further different applications.
Finite Element Method for Designing and Analysis of the Transformer – A Retro...idescitation
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Finite Element Method (FEM) was
developed over 70 years to solve the complex elasticity and structural analysis problem in
civil and aeronautical engineering. Application of FEA is being expanded to simulation in
electrical engineering also to solve the complex design problems. The circuit theory models
for designing transformers are not much accurate in determining the transformer
parameters such as winding impedance, leakage inductance, hot spot temperature etc. The
physical realization of these parameters is needed on a prototype unit. The finite element
method can play a vital role in deriving these parameters without any physical verification.
An effort has been made in this paper to show the effectiveness of finite element method in
determining the above said parameters while designing the transformers - both oil cooled as
well as dry type - for power and distribution sectors as well as to analyze and detect the
internal faults in the transformer.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

There are two important purposes and driving force
behind the Engineering/Education/Research:
1. Minimum consumption of Energy and Materials
without sacrificing the efficiency and functionality.
2. Maximum conversion of Energy from one form to the
other, to identify or design highly efficient process or
system.

5. Alloys
Devaprakasam D, Email: devaprakasam.d@vit.ac.in, Ph: +91 9786553933
Alloys are metallic materials consisting of two or more elements combined
in such a way that they cannot be readily separated by physical means.
More than 90% of metals used are in the form of alloys.
6. Phase
Devaprakasam D, Email: devaprakasam.d@vit.ac.in, Ph: +91 9786553933
A phase may be defined as a homogeneous portion of a
system that has uniform physical and chemical
characteristics. Every pure material is considered to be
a phase; so also is every solid, liquid, and gaseous
solution.
Sometimes, a single-phase system is termed
homogeneous. Systems composed of two or more
phases are termed mixtures or heterogeneous
systems. Most metallic alloys and, for that matter,
ceramic, polymeric, and composite systems are
heterogeneous.
7. Phase Diagram
Devaprakasam D, Email: devaprakasam.d@vit.ac.in, Ph: +91 9786553933
Much of the information about the control of the phase
structure of a particular system is conveniently and
concisely displayed in what is called a phase diagram,
also often termed an equilibrium diagram.
one-component phase diagram (or unary phase
diagram) [sometimes also called a pressure–
temperature (or P–T) diagram] is represented as a two
dimensional plot of pressure (ordinate, or vertical axis)
versus temperature (abscissa, or horizontal axis).
9. Structure Property Correlations
Devaprakasam D, Email: devaprakasam.d@vit.ac.in, Ph: +91 9786553933
For a binary system of known composition and temperature that
is at equilibrium, at least three kinds of information are available:
(1) the phases that are present, (2) the compositions of these
phases, and (3) the percentages or fractions of the phases. The
procedures for making these determinations will be demonstrated
using the copper–nickel system.
Figure (a) The copper–nickel phase diagram. (b) A portion of
the copper–nickel phase diagram for which compositions and
phase amounts are determined at point B.
The copper–nickel system is termed isomorphous because of
this complete liquid and solid solubility of the two components.
12. Structure Property Correlations
Devaprakasam D, Email: devaprakasam.d@vit.ac.in, Ph: +91 9786553933
Phases Present
The establishment of what phases are present is relatively simple. One just locates
the temperature–composition point on the diagram and notes the phase(s) with which
the corresponding phase field is labelled. For example, an alloy of composition 60
wt% Ni–40 wt% Cu at 1100C would be located at point A in Figure 9.3a; because this
is within the region, only the single α phase will be present. On the other hand, a 35
wt% Ni–65 wt% Cu alloy at 1250C (point B) will consist of both α and liquid phases at
equilibrium.
In all two-phase regions (and in two-phase regions only), one may imagine a
series of horizontal lines, one at every temperature; each of these is known
as a tie line, or sometimes as an isotherm.
1. A tie line is constructed across the two-phase region at the temperature of
the alloy.
2. The intersections of the tie line and the phase boundaries on either side are
noted.
3. Perpendiculars are dropped from these intersections to the horizontal composition
axis, from which the composition of each of the respective phases is read.
13. Structure Property Correlations
Devaprakasam D, Email: devaprakasam.d@vit.ac.in, Ph: +91 9786553933
The tie line must be utilized in conjunction with a procedure that is often called
the lever rule (or the inverse lever rule), which is applied as follows:
1. The tie line is constructed across the two-phase region at the temperature of
the alloy.
2. The overall alloy composition is located on the tie line.
3. The fraction of one phase is computed by taking the length of tie line from
the overall alloy composition to the phase boundary for the other phase, and
dividing by the total tie line length.
4. The fraction of the other phase is determined in the same manner.
5. If phase percentages are desired, each phase fraction is multiplied by
100.When the composition axis is scaled in weight per cent, the phase
fractions computed using the lever rule are mass fractions—the mass (or
weight) of a specific phase divided by the total alloy mass (or weight). The
mass of each phase is computed from the product of each phase fraction and
the total alloy mass.
