WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT AND WHY?
There are many different distribution companies that I could
use to distribute my magazine however not all would be
suitable. I researched on the internet to try and find the one
that fitted best.
ICP
ICP distributes a wide variety of magazines, such as music and TV gossip magazines.
The music magazines they distribute are NME and Uncut.
Neither of these magazines focus on just one genre of music (NME – Indie and Uncut –
R’n’B), whereas my magazine, B, contains many different genres. This could mean that
there is a gap in which B could fill at IPC. Another reason ICP could be a good
company to distribute B would be that both genres of the music magazines they already
distribute are complete opposites, so could possibly have the vision to distribute a
magazine that focus’ on all genres.

Bauer Media

Bauer Media have over an audience in the UK of over 19 million people. Bauer
Media distributes the music magazines Q and Kerrang. Q magazine which as a magazine is
very diverse in what it covers, and a lot of it's content will be similar to what is featured inside
my own magazine. Due to Q magazine being so diverse it would be very difficult to expect
Bauer Media to take on my magazine as well. However, due to the popularity of Q
magazine, they may feel they would be able to acquire an even greater audience. They would
also have a greater understanding of the best way to distribute a magazine with a varied music
    genres’ in.

Q - The UK's biggest music
magazine
Q is the arbiter of taste, standing for
music of substance across all
platforms.
Q’s audience is younger and more
affluent than any other music
monthly.
97%of readers rate Q as a quality
magazine. In research it outperforms
competitors on measures such as
best interviews, writing and awards
winning photography
My chose

If I was to choose a company to distribute my magazine, I would choose the Bauer Media
company.
This is because they already distribute Q magazine, which in the production of my
magazine, was my main inspiration. They would also know how to distribute a magazine of
B’s style most effectively because of the similarity to Q magazine.
Advertising

The best way that a magazine makes money is by allowing advertisers to
use its unused space throughout the magazine, including the covers and
inside front and back cover.
Magazines also make money from the public purchasing a copy of it from a
news stand/shop. The purchase of a single magazine makes only a small
profit due to the wages of employees etc. has been taken out.
