magazines such as ‘Woman&home’, to magazines that will appeal more to men such as
‘WorldSoccer’. The fact that they use soccer rather than football also suggests that they are
globally successful, and use this unique branding of familiarization to attract audiences.
This is on the official website of the institution. It informs that their magazines can be accessed
anywhere, any place. This is a good thing because it shows that the institution moves with
the times, upgrading itself so that the audiences feel comfortable and up to date with it. This
is further supported by the fact that they changed their name from IPC in recent years, to
provide ‘new opportunities’ and strategic value.

Upon researching NME I noticed that the magazine
has evolved dramatically through the years. This shows
that Time Inc. UK are willing to take risks, they can afford
to do so because by taking risks they can attract a wider
audience range, because of their willingness to regenerate
their magazines to include more music genres.
Bauer Media Group
Bauer Media Group has been managed by five
generations of the Bauer family. Originally a
small printing house in Germany, Bauer Media
Group entered the UK with the launch of Bella
magazine in 1987. Under the name of H Bauer
Publishing they became Britain's third largest
publisher
The company gained attention again in 1990 with the
launch of Take a Break magazine. Touching the lives
of millions of women with its unique blend of
upfront real life and competitions, the title quickly
became market leader. Despite strong competition,
Take a Break has maintained its No.1 status,
currently selling approximately 800,000 copies a
week.
With the recent addition of the former Emap
Consumer Media titles, Bauer is now the largest
consumer magazine publishing company in the UK,
playing a primary role in the Women’s Weeklies,
Women’s Interest, Women’s Lifestyle, TV Listings,
Puzzles, Men’s Lifestyle, Music & Film and Specialist
magazine markets.

• Operates on many platforms such as radio, television, online, and Q awards.
• It has a reputation as a trusted and premium quality voice of musical authority amongst
audiences.
Bauer Media seem to be using trust as a brand. They build up almost a relationship with their
audiences, the fans trust them which makes the institution globally successful.
From these images I can work out that
their target audience is of a younger
generation mainly because it publishes
new games and music and technology.
This will intrigue younger audiences
because they’ll want new technology
meaning this company will be very
Popular.
Future PLC distributes magazines with a smaller target audience and are less popular. This
may be because they have a niche market, they specialize in publishing only rock magazines,
Meaning It attracts only fans of rock music. This means they have a very specific target audience,
And so, when it comes to magazines, they only use branding that they know will attract them.

TTM – Trailing twelve months - is a measurement of a
company's financial health used in finance. It is measured by
using the income statements from a company's reports (such as
interim, quarterly or annual reports), to calculate the income for
the twelve-month period immediately prior to the date of the
report.
Analyzing this, I believe that the company made 61.00m in the
previous year, but got 12.10m less in the next year. I think this is
because the company only publishes one genre of music
magazines, meaning they only have a small target audience. By
broadening their branding, they will become more well known,
and gain a larger audience because people will be able to relate,
and enjoy, at least one of their magazines. This may result in a
higher revenue, and also the net income not decreasing either.
