Q Magazine
Q magazine was founded by Mark Ellen
and David Hepworth with the first
magazine being published in October
1986 by the EMAP media group.
Why did they published it?
Ellen and Hepworth were disheartened
by media press ignoring the older
generation instead focusing on the
younger generation.
Q magazine is targeted at older people
who are normally overlooked in the music
industry. Due to the fact their audience is
older means that their mode of address is
most likely formal.
Q is not only a magazine brand; a yearly
Q awards is aired with many special
guests who feature in their magazine
such as Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys. Along
with the award ceremony Q also have a
radio and TV show were are just as
successful as their magazine.

entice the reader as though they are important to the magazine; they are what
makes the magazine.
This feature is also included in the magazine for advertisement enticements. Q
magazine attracts many companies looking to advertise within their magazine. In
doing this, Q magazine displays what kind of people read their magazine and so
this will attract certain companies such as Apple who will see this article and notice
that ‘Mark’ enjoys digital technology therefore Apple will be keen to display their new
