The Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology to StudentsMhister Laagan
It is important for the students to learn and understand both the disadvantages and advantages of technology since it becomes a part of their daily life. Similarly, technology use must not be excessive. In fact extreme technological use in students can cause all sorts of problems; socially and physically so it is important for the students to understand that yes, technology is an amazing thing; but at the same time, it should not be used all of the time. They should not be overly dependent on it.
Sustainable Engineering: An Essential Part of Engineering EthicsBikramjit Hazra
Sustainable development theory has come from the field of ecological economics. According to this
theory, sustainable development involves achieving objectives in three realms: ecological,
economic and social. The ecological objective is maintaining a sustainable scale of energy and
material flows through the environment such that carrying capacity of the biosphere is not affected.
The economic objective seeks to provide an efficient allocation of resources in conformity with
consumer preferences and the ability to pay. The social objective aims at a just distribution of
resources among the public, including future generations. The overall objective of a sustainable
society is the achievement of sustainability in economic, ecological and social systems.

Importance of Science and Technology.pdfHussain110464
Science and technology have revolutionized the way we live, work, and interact with the world around us. From smartphones and laptops to airplanes and medical breakthroughs, science and technology have enabled us to achieve feats that were once considered impossible. However, despite their omnipresence in our daily lives, many people still struggle to understand what science and technology truly mean.
The word "technology" is frequently abbreviated as "tech," and it refers to the use of scientific knowledge and engineering concepts to build and upgrade tools, systems, and processes that are intended to solve real-world issues, increase productivity, and improve human life. Modern culture has embraced technology to the point where it now permeates practically every area of our everyday life.
This is a presentation prepared for college assignment which includes the positive and negative impacts of technology on environment. I tried to cover most important points.
science and technology have the potential to drive positive societal and environmental changes. It is essential to foster responsible and ethical use of these advancements, promoting sustainable practices, addressing societal inequalities, and ensuring that the benefits of scientific and technological progress are accessible to all.

The Threats and Benefits of Science
Science is a broad subject that is essential in the organizing of knowledge by providing explanations and predictions. The practicality of science has revolutionized the world since the scientific revolution era. This subject has numerous branches that are vital to human beings and inseparable from the analysis of life facts. Science is attributed to a vast range of technological changes that are crucial to human life because of the practical applications of the subject (Haack, 2011). However, some threats emanated from the study and application of scientific principles and pose a significant risk to human sustainability. Therefore, the analysis of the pros and cons of science is necessary to establish the precise implications of this subject. Although science has both advantages and disadvantages, its benefits in enhancing the solution of health problems and technology outweigh the threats.
Science facilitates the simplification of life. Scientific knowledge has been significant to the world by enhancing the inventions of different objects that are crucial to human beings. Scientific principles have been applied in the manufacturing industry and the generation of energy such as electricity. These products have provided immense assistance to human efforts which have simplified most of the life activities. Furthermore, life has become comfortable, safe and secure through the aid of scientific technologies (Von Schomberg, 2012). Many of the strains that people faced in the pre-scientific era obtained solution when the concepts of this subject were efficiently applied. For instance, the evolution of the textile industry depended on science and led to the production of a wide range of clothing that fits people from different geographic and climatic regions. Therefore, this evidence indicates that science has been beneficial in making life easier by increasing accessibility to particular necessary requirements of sustainability.
Science has revolutionized the communication system to make its fast, secure and cost-effective. The discoveries that have their origin in the scientific principles have a significant impact on the communication technologies. The invention of phones, televisions, radios and other communication equipment has transformed most of the life systems concerning efficient sending and receiving of messages. The modern world relies on communication for a wide range of applications including social and economic practices. Business activities are fostered and also the interpersonal interactions. Globalization has been a significant trend in the world increasing the accessibility of information. This aspect has influenced the exchange of ideas on a worldwide platform and increased the education of people on key societal issues that have social and economic significance. Therefore, science is evidently a crucial boost to the communication advancement that is responsible for the efficiency of the moder ...
Do you know why numbers look like they do? Someone, at some point in time, had to create their shapes and meaning.
Watch this short presentation and then you will know how our Arabic numbers were originally created a very long time ago and what logic the people that created them used to determine their shapes. It is really very simple and quite creative.
You have to admire the intelligence of a person or people that created something so simple and perfect that it has lasted thousands and thousands of years and will probably never change.
When the presentation gets to the number "seven" you will notice that the7 has a line through the middle of it. That was the way the Arabic 7 was originally written, and in Europe and certain other areas they still write the 7 that way. Also, in the military, they commonly write it that way. The nine has a kind of curly tail on it that has been reduced, for the most part nowadays, to a simple curve, but the logic involved still applies.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
