Gardner s Pedophilia
Gardner believed that all human sexual paraphilias, such as pedophilia, sadism, rape,
necrophilia, zoophilia, coprophilia, and other paraphilias, served a beneficial purpose in a
species survival by enhanc[ing] the general level of sexual excitation in society. Many of his
misogynistic and pedophilic viewpoints have been intertwined into the development of his
rational behind PAS and its treatment. In regards to women, Gardner argued that a woman s
physiology and conditioning make[] them potential[] masochistic rape victims who may gain
pleasure from being beaten, bound, and otherwise made to suffer, as the price they are willing to
pay for gaining the gratification of receiving the sperm. Furthermore, Gardner blamed a father s
sexual molestation of his child on the mother, who he suggested was not satisfying the sexual
needs of her husband, which resulted in him turning to his child for sexual gratification. Gardner
claimed that mothers, who alleged allegations of a child s sexual abuse, where satisfying their
own sexually inhibited needs by visualizing the child with their father. Gardner claimed that
pedophilia is a widespread and accepted practice among literally billions of people and it is
because our society overreacts to it that children suffer. With regards to interfamilial pedophilia,
Gardner believed it was beneficial to [our] species... as it increase[d] a child s sexualization

The Concept Of Cultural Erasure, Inequality And Violence
Postcolonialism: The Concept of Cultural Erasure, Inequality and Violence Colonization can be
dated back to 1492 with the Spanish venture led by Columbus. Colonialism is defined as The
policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with
settlers, and exploiting it economically (Oxford Dictionary). This expedition spread European
influence worldwide, in places such as China, Lebanon, India, and Antigua. European influence is
still prevalent today through the crossing of racial lines and shifting of cultures towards a more
civilized way of living. Colonialismis still prevalent today, in the form of postcolonialism.
Postcolonialism can be defined as America s benefaction to nations worldwide that include dynamic
influences in things such as: government, culture, education and economy. One of the concepts
erected from colonialism is globalization. Since globalization is a direct effect of colonialism, it is
no surprise that globalization influences the same categories as postcolonialism (government,
culture, education and economy), making the two concepts almost synonymous with minimal
differences. Globalization is defined as the integration of economics and communications of nations
through increased contact by technology. Globalization dominates the economic and social side of
the field while postcolonialism dwells in the cultural and educational aspects. This European gift
has contributed to global conflicts,

Brief Description Of Manila, Philippines
BODY
I.Brief Description of Manila, Philippines.
Manila is the capital of the Philippines and it is located in Luzon; which is the largest island in the
archipelago. Due to its convenient location for a trade route, it is known as the Pearl of the Orient.
Before Manila was rebuilt, the city suffered many episodes of destruction during World War II
(WWII) where the Japanese invasion occurred. Even though Manila is believed to be one of
Southeast Asia s best capital cities for its breathtaking views and culture, it has its flaws. Manila is
filled with crime, corruption, overpopulation, and the daily inevitable and cumbersome traffic jams.
Yet, this city is still the biggest, most developed and prosperous when compared to the other cities
in the Philippines.
II.The Importance of Preserving Historical Landmarks
Historical landmarks are just as important as every other building that has ever existed. They all
have a purpose; yet people still choose to demolish these structures. It shows a lack of respect
towards the architectural monuments. Most believe that creating brand new buildings is cheaper
and more beneficial rather than maintaining the ancient ones but it is the opposite. You can save
money by preserving them; building a brand new structure costs more.

Assembly Line and Line Workers
JIELIANG PHONE HOME CASE STUDY
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Jieliang (DL) is a line worker at Precision Electro Tech s Dongguan, China manufacturing plant.
During a plant walk through, Marty Cole (OEM Global Team) witnessed Jieliang being publicly
disciplined in front of her fellow line workers for not following Total Quality Control (TQC)
procedures and using her own method.
ANALYSIS
Precision Electro Tech is a large contract manufacturer (CM) that produces products (i.e., cell
phones) for another company or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). In the case of complex
assembly tasks, if those tasks can be broken down into simple unit manufacturing steps that can be
completely specified, they can be sent to low cost countries like China ... Show more content on

Although her rationale was not explicitly stated, several factors were in play. Jieliang was trained
that way and trusted her fellow factory workers and believed they were capable hard workers with
ambition and drive (Shih, et al., 2009). She knew (perhaps subconsciously) that the TQC shortcut
was more efficient and believed that it was the prudent course of action. Additionally, there was a
level of enabling and complicity from the floor supervisors who believed in the old adage, one eye
open and one eye closed.
Jieliang s motivation and intent is difficult to know for sure; especially given how she and her
fellow workers strived to get the job done quicker, in part to have some computer play time and
flash card study time.
There are three players involved in this situation and each represents a role and cultural
differentiation: Marty Cole, OEM American, Yellow Hat, Supervisor Chinese, and Jieliang, DL
Chinese. Each of these players possesses their unique personality and VABEs. Marty Cole s
observation was alarming due to his witness of public reprimand by the Yellow Hat toward
Jieliang, DL. The Yellow Hat is a position of authority and Jieliang is a line worker in a
subordinate role at the manufacturing plant. The expectation of protocol for line workers is for
them to follow the procedures to the letter with no deviation or suffer the consequences. Thus, when

Do you like it Paris? Caitlin held the Gucci dress up for her to see. Oh my God! Paris squealed.
She admired the beauty in front of her. The Gucci dress that is. It was one of a kind. It was a
stretch jersey with an open back. Her little black dress. When she tried it on, it was form fitting
but it looks sexy on her. It also shows a lot of cleavage. She admired her 5 3 frame in the seven
foot mirror. She smiles at herself, noting the light shining its way back through her eyes. Girl,
you are wearing that dress. Caitlin whistled and her girls laughs. Caitlin watched as the girls
held Paris long auburn hair that is now down her back high up in the air. Paris spins as she
laughs happily with them while Caitlin stood back admiring her. What a sexy doll. I want her.
Too bad she doesn t know what she really in for. Caitlin thought. She sighs. What s going on
Damn! one of the guys was asking when he saw how gorgeous Paris looks in the dress. He was
taken aback. Isn t she stunning? Caitlin asks him, who goes by the name, Draco. Yes. She. Does.
Draco awed, and laughs with the girls. Boy, close your damn mouth! You re drooling. Caitlin
joked. Draco wipes the nonexistent drool, and was loving how the dress seem to fit perfectly
around Paris breasts and butt. He was in love. After moments of being admired so much, Paris went
to the bathroom to change back into her loose fitting jeans and sweater. Caitlin wants her to ride

The Progress of a Motive in Brahms s Intermezzo op. 119, no. 3*
ABSTRACT: Brahms s Intermezzo op. 119, no. 3 is structured around a motive with two
components one melodic, one harmonic that operate sometimes separately and sometimes together.
The global harmonic trajectory of the piece is embodied in the combination of these two
components; local harmonic motion proceeds through an expanded LR cycle, with periodic short
cuts from one zone of the cycle to another. The A section unfolds a double tonic complex while

[7] The melodic cell and harmonic progression J and DOWN THIRD UP FIFTH sometimes
occur independently, but for the most part interact to create a larger unit. This larger unit, given
at the bottom of Example 2, is the motive of my title.(8) Again, the fact that the motive is
exclusively diatonic is significant, because it makes the chromatic pitch classes especially
salient. [8] The opening of the piece animates the motive by repeating and varying the duration
of J while arpeggiating the chords of DOWN THIRD UP FIFTH. Example 3 annotates the
melody of m. 1 through the downbeat of m. 3, which fuses together three Js.(9) By fusing
together three Js and altering the duration of the final pitch of each J (the durations are , , and ,
for the three occurrences, respectively), Brahms creates a symmetrical rhythmic structure.(10) The
dots below the staff indicate metric position: two dots indicate a strong beat, one dot a weak
beat.(11) The first J starts on a strong beat and concludes on a weak beat. The third J starts on a
weak beat and

Symbolism In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Setting of a Dream In the story, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, the setting is used as
symbolism and portrays the differences between the natural world and life on the ranch. Many
particular phrases and objects foreshadow important events throughout the novel. Using imagery,
Steinbeck demonstrates the contrast between the world on the ranch and natural world. The nature
of the forest, river, and certain setting descriptions creates a deeper meaning that relates to many of
the themes in the story. To begin, the river is used to symbolize the dreams and goals of humanity.
The river separates two worlds from touching: On one side, there are beautiful rolling hills and
strong mountains. But, on the other side, The water is lined... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

People who have wandered through the forest have stopped to reflect under the sycamore trees.
The trees were once new, beautiful, and young. However, throughout time, many people have
come and sat under the tree: and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs... and
underneath the tree there is an ash pile made by many fires (1 2). The unfortunate mark of
humanity is left on the tree. On the other hand, the invitation extended by the trees is accepted
by travelers who long to accomplish their dream. In the end, Lennie returns to the river when the
light is turning dark. The dreams can no longer be seen. The sycamore trees start to turn up their
silver sides, the brown, dry leaves on the ground scudded a few feet. And row on row of tiny
wind waves flowed up the pool s green surface (99). The final decision that George makes
completely blinds him from his goal. When he walks away with Slim, he is returning to the world
on the ranch. George abandons the hope extended by the natural world. He leaves the beauty
serenity, and innocence of nature. He loses sight of his

Sammy is a nineteen year old boy who works at an A P grocery store in a small conservative

with it. He works at the register and to keep himself entertained he pretends that the register is
singing a song every time he uses it. Although he s been working there for some time, it becomes
clear that he doesn t wish to be in that store much longer. It s also clear that the town that he lives
in isn t somewhere he wants to be either and it isn t until the day girls came to the store that he
begins to act on these dreams by quitting his job. The idea that Sammy is fed up with the life he

An Indian Woman s Experience With Imperialism
The basis of imperialism is established by depriving nations of their true identity, self confidence,
and independence. Dominance is best put as power and influence over others. This idea of
dominance is bewildering. Who would have thought that holding more power than another
individual would exist in this world when we were all created as equals from the start? Being
seen as more powerful because one s skin color is lighter than another or because one has more
wealth is preposterous. Imperialism involves a far more powerful country taking over a weaker,
less powerful country while exploiting the people as well as the resources. Author, Kamala
Markandaya thoroughly captures the effects of imperialism along with dominance within the world

This can be seen when Rukmani s son Arjun states It is not enough. I am tired of hunger and I am
tired of seeing my brothers hungry. There is never enough, especially since Ira came to live with
us (51). This shows how much power the British in India actually had since the Indians had no
other choice but to work at the tannery unless they wanted to starve. Even though the villagers
may have not wanted to work under British rule, they had no other choice. The tannery had such
a major impact on the villagers lives. While the tannery can be seen as a good way for many
individuals in the village to get jobs, this is one of the only benefits the tannery provided. While
jobs were created, the workers still received a low pay and had to work under harsh conditions.
The main purpose of the tannery was to make leather products and sell them. This had nothing to
do with global progress and in fact, everything to do with gaining power and sovereignty. The
British used these Indian peasants to become even more dominant. Similarly, this idea of having
no choice can be seen in history when Indians were either sent away to work abroad in factories
or sent to fight in the British military in order to receive a higher pay. The tannery in Nectar in a

Research Paper On Hypnosis
A common question is, what is hypnosis and how does it work? According to the American
Psychology Association hypnosis is a therapeutic technique in which clinicians make suggestions to
individuals who have undergone a procedure designed to relax them and focus their minds
(American Psychology Association, 2016). Hypnosisis called hypnotherapy and hypnotic
suggestion. James Braid, a 19th century Scottish surgeon originated those terms based on the word
hypnos, which is Greek for to sleep (Harris, 2016).
When the person is hypnotized they feel calm and relaxed. The therapist using verbal repetition
makes them more open to suggestions. The individual being hypnotized is conscious but is able to
ignore the most of everything going on around them. When being hypnotized the person excludes
all other thoughts.
Hypnosis did not come into the picture until the late 1700s. The father of modern hypnotism is

However, it is far from the truth. During the hypnosis you are in control of yourself. There are
two theories on why hypnosis works. One of those is dissociation, and the other is a kind of role

background on the author Kevin Mitnick, he is known for being the most famous hacker ever.
He used dumpster diving and social engineering to get information from some of the largest
companies and he would use passwords and codes to gain access. He has been arrested multiple
times the most famous in 1995 after a well publicized pursuit, where he was arrested in North

This article notes that these attacks have companies more concerned now because these
cybercriminals are now targeting companies more than the customers. As Mitnick talked about how
hackers will go after company information, more than the users in Chapter 3, this article discusses
the dangers companies are having with this Ransomware. The article then talks about the lack of
awareness from the companies about this attack method. Also how the attackers are always trying
to stay in advance of the companies defenses by creating new attack methods. Another problem
this article covers is that many companies are actually paying the ransoms because they do not
have good back up systems. In a result of all the companies who end up paying the ransoms, this
makes the Ransomware attack more eye catching to the hackers. The FBI has been trying to
inform these companies about the problem but over the past few months it still has not
improved. Many companies end up paying the hackers the ransom just so they can have their
files, and be able to run their business. The companies that are the most vulnerable are the ones
where they don t have the proper protocol in position, and that do not have the proper backup
procedures. Another reason for the increase in Ransomware attacks is because of how easy it is for
a hacker to use and get a lot of

Summary Of Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau
To some, adventurers like Chris McCandless are young, idealistic, and resolute people with high
moral standards. They want to take everything they can out of life, and they want to experience
every facet of it. However, this isn t a view everyone shares. To others, McCandless was an
irrational kid with no experience who couldn t handle his family issues. On the other hand, Henry
David Thoreauis viewed as a calm, steady, and contemplative man with a dedicated love of
nature. Chris McCandless and Henry David Thoreau share many similarities, but they also have
defining differences. Chris was different from Thoreau because he was running from his past
whereas Thoreau wanted to go to the woods, and Chris overestimated himself whereas Thoreau
was more level headed, but they were similar in that they both didn t believe in material objects.
Chris went into the wild because he wanted to escape his past and because of his general hatred
towards prejudice against society, while Thoreau was more positively motivated to go to the
wilderness. His motivation to go to the woods was negative because he was running away from
something. Although his friends and family described him as very independent and motivated
to go against everything he was taught, his real motivation was because of his family struggles.
Chris s father, Walt, never fully divorced his ex wife, Marcia, and he still had relations with her
despite being married to Billie. When Billie found out, she was very hurt, and so were Walt and
Marcia. However, to make amends, Walt finalized the divorce with Marcia. They resolved the
problem and moved on. When Chris unearthed this truth, he was unbelievably upset, but he didn
t address it directly. Instead, he waited years to talk about it, occasionally shunning his parents
and judging them behind their backs. Chris was very self righteous, and he took every
opportunity to denounce his father even though the issue of the divorce had been resolved. He
expressed his anger in a very passive way, and because he never found real closure, his anger
accumulated. He decided to release his anger indirectly. This is why he took classes on racial
inequality, and why he was so mad about poverty in the United States. His outrage

Political Philosophy And Political Science
As centuries have passed, political thought has undergone constant development and together with
its development are changes. These changes had a tremendous effect in the discipline. Political
philosophy continued to progress which affected both political theory and political science. It
seems that with the progression of political philosophy, there was a growing need for the the
discipline to become more scientific. They wanted it to be based on facts, to become value free
and to be precise. Political philosophystarted veering away from the classics. Despite the continuous
need to be scientific, there were still groups which remained inclined to the classics and believed
that the traditions and values are essential in studying the discipline. These conflicting views
concerning the traditionalists and the behavioralists caused the gap between political philosophy
and political scienceand eventually the two separated. So it seems that as political philosophy
progress, political science branched outside the academe and political theory, as it grew larger

Introduction
In early decades of the 18th century, privatization had been introduced into the market. This new
economy reforms started in western world, followed further by its implementation in Asian region

This may results to either two conditions increase in unemployment rate or decreases in standard of
living due to cost saving policy implemented by the privatized firm.
Secondly, privatization also affects the welfare of the society as a whole. This can be explained
by examining again the orientation of the firm after being privatized. Theoretically, economic
efficiency can be divided into two categories, namely productive efficiency and allocative
efficiency. Productive efficiency is achieved if firms produce goods and services demanded by
consumer, while allocative efficiency is achieved if the goods produced were marketed to the
right people. Right people here means people who demands for the goods and capable to pay for
it. Results from privatization is, the market now will replace the real needs of people with those
demanded item, given that it will yield high profit for the firm. For example, basic needs like tap
water and electricity is not available in certain rural areas, but firms compete with each other to
bid for mega projects in big cities. Here, firms are no longer concern with their social responsibility
towards public, but only interested in making huge profit.

Procrastinator And Slacker Analysis
All people spend at least a little time in the four of quadrants: procrastinator, prioritizer, yes man,
and slacker. The quadrants represent your habits on importance and urgency in relation to your
priorities. Although I spend most of my time as a prioritizer, I can remove the yes man from my
life by being a better prioritizer and learning how to say no to people. The first and fourth
quadrants, procrastinator and slacker, are the two worst quadrants to be in. Both leave you with
low quality performance, stress, guilt, and a lot of wasted time. Procrastinators and slackers do not
plan anything out, nor do they worry about the quality of their work, only that it eventually gets
done, sometime in the future. At this point in my life, I relate

Strategic Resource Management Essay
By integrating human resources management (HRM) into the Hospital planning process and
emphasizing human resources (HR) activities that support the Hospital s mission and goals,
hospital departments are able to ensure that the management of HR contributes to mission
accomplishment and managers are held accountable for their HRM decisions.
Strategic human resources management...strategic alignment...alignment with Hospital mission
accomplishment. These are just a few of the terms being used to describe the new, evolving role
of HRM. What do these terms really mean? If you were to ask Hospital employees and managers,
you would probably get a wide range of answers. So, it s important to establish from the beginning

Additionally, employment security may help align the interests of employees and Hospital partners.
Hospital problems are reduced because when job security exists, the employees, like shareholders,
are concerned about the long term success of the firm. With the commitment from the Hospital for
job security, application of laws becomes a relationship that both the employer and employee has to
manage.
Application of Laws
Many employers are required to develop affirmative action plans (AAPs) that identify problem
areas in the employment of protected class members and initiate goals and steps to overcome those
problems. Memorial Hospital is no different. Memorial follows all laws on sex/gender
discrimination, which have addressed issues regarding pregnancy discrimination, unequal pay for
similar jobs, and sexual harassment.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that most employers identify the essential
functions of jobs and make reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities, unless
undue hardship results.
Implementation of equal employment opportunity requires appropriate record keeping, such as
completing the annual report (EEO 1), and keeping applicant flow data. Below is the Civil Rights
Act of 1964, Title VII and what it covers. I have also included some additional information that fall
under the umbrella of the Civil Right Act of 1964,

Modified Edema Research Paper
Synopsis: Comparing the Effects of Modified Manual with Traditional Edema Technique Jovel
Duatin Samuel Merritt University Department of Occupational Therapy Knygsand Roenhoej and
Maribo (2011) examined the effects of modified edema mobilization (MEM) treatment with MEM
pump points (MPP) stimulation technique and compared it with the traditional edema technique for
patients with subacute hand/arm edema. The effects were determined based on the outcome
measures that includes reduction in edema and pain, active range of motion (AROM), and activities
of daily living(ADL). It was hypothesized that modified MEM treatment will have better outcome
measures compared to the traditional edema technique. The study s design was single blinded,...

Subacute edema size was measured using a volumeter. The distance from the nail of the fingertip
to the proximal palmar crease was measured for AROM. The distance from the nail of the thumb
to the base of the fifth finger was used to measure thumb opposition. Moreover, pain was
measured using the visual analog scale. Patients ADL levels was assessed through a questionnaire
for bilateral activities and perceived performance and satisfaction with ADL was assessed using
the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure. The study had 30 participants originally but
only 29 completed the treatments. There was a statistically significant decrease in edema, pain,
and improvement in AROM observed in both groups. There was a significant change in ADL
observed in modified MEM group that indicates that the group managed bilateral ADL activities
quicker than the control group. There was also a tendency for modified MEM group to receive
fewer occupational therapy session. However, there was no significant statistical difference found
between the groups in terms of pain during activity or at rest, AROM, and ADL at inclusion or

I Want To Become A Neonatal Nurse

3.1.2 IMPORTANCE OF BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
There is a close and continuous interaction between the business and its environment. This
interaction helps in strengthening the business firm and using its resources more effectively. As
stated above, the business environment is multifaceted, complex, and dynamic in nature and has a
far reaching impact on the survival and growth of the business. To be more specific, proper
understanding of the social, political, legal and economic environment helps the business in the
following ways: (a) Determining Opportunities and Threats: The interaction between the business
and its environment would identify opportunities for and threats to the business. It helps the
business enterprises for meeting the challenges successfully. (b) Giving Direction for Growth: The
interaction with the environment leads to opening up new frontiers of growth for the business
firms. It enables the business to identify the areas for growth and expansion of their activities. (c)

Old Mule Farms Case Study Essay

RE:Old Mule FarmsThe Old Mule Farms is a cow calf operation that provides calves for feedlots
to fatten up before being sent to packing houses and eventually sold as meet for consumers. The
current owners have been experiencing a problem with losses in revenue. The expenses that Old
Mule Farms incurred are veterinary bills, labor, nutritional supplements and minerals, and a variety
of forage. The forage is primarily grazed grasses but is supplemented with hay.

Taking into consideration that the weight of the cows is a key driver of calf weight, which in turn is
the key driver of revenue.
An Old Mule Farms average cow weight ranges between 1000 lbs. and 1400 lbs. My
recommendation is that if they were to eliminate the lighter and heavier 40% of cows
respectively, Old Mill Farms would have heavier calves to sell, resulting in higher revenues.
This would also reduce expenses each of the heavier cows has been causing. This recommended
approach will substantially reduce the expenses incurred by heavier cows, and increase the calf
sell weight produced by the lighter cows. The best approach to measuring the proper size of a
cow is to use the primary key driver of cow weight and compare the value of a calf to the cost of
maintaining a cow. The principle of diminishing marginal productivity states that as one input in
the production process is increased, there will be a point in which the addition of an input will
result in smaller and smaller benefit. We can relate this principle with the weight of cows. As
more nutrients, minerals, and forage is added to a cow the more a cow weighs. This in turn
results in heavier calves. However, when a cow begins to weigh over 1200 lbs. the weight of
calves diminishes. When taking in to account the principle of diminishing marginal utility, Old Mill
Farms would be able to eliminate their losses by restricting their cow weight to 1200

How Does Voltaire Use Satire In Candide
The concept that everything in the universe follows an immaculate plan is one that is often
criticized. Voltaire wrote Candide to ridicule the philosophical teachings of Gottfried Wilhelm von
Leibniz, that is, the concept that all is for the best. He creates his satire through the use of
characterization. He models two of the main characters to directly ridicule Leibniz and one who
follows or accepts his teachings. He uses his plot to disprove the theory that everything is for the
best and to point out the many dark happenings of the universe. He combines these foundations of
the piece with many literary techniques and devices to convince his audience that Leibniz is a fool
and that surely there are happenings in the world that are not for the best.... Show more content on

He published philosophical works that discussed evil and the idea that this is the best of all
possible worlds (O Connor and Robertson). In his piece Monadology he states that there is
nothing chaotic and nothing confused in the universe (10). This is to say that everything in the
universe has a defined purpose. He goes on to say that soul and body each follow their own
laws; and are in agreement in virtue (Monadology 11). This is suggesting that while the mind and
the body have different laws one has logic while the other follows instinct they are unified in their
purpose that has been previously defined by the deity. He finished his hypothesizing by stating
everything must work out for the benefit of the good (Monadology 12). These key points of

Success is often measured by numbers and perception. Individual spectators often overlook the

Leadership Is An Integral Part Of Society Essay
Leadership is an integral part of society, without leadership there would be chaos. Leadership calls
for action in terms of guidance, decision making, structure and control, these qualities are necessary
and evident within organizations. After World War I organizations were finding it difficult to
organize and operate efficiently. It was in this period Frederick Taylor s Scientific Management
framework took precedence in organizations. Taylor introduced a systematic, strategic and scientific
method to aid organizations in recovering from the effects of the war, moving towards high levels
of productivity, efficacy and efficiency.
Taylor s principles highlighted the need for division of responsibility, a systematic and strategic way
of choosing and training employees for specific roles, breaking down jobs into smaller tasks and
extending to management the responsibility of setting objectives for the organization. Following
Taylor was French industrialist, Henri Fayol who contributed the administrative structure of
planning, coordinating, commanding, controlling and organizing. Within this defining period of
the Industrial Revolution, management theories, literature contributions, and scientific inquiry
began to advance. Various schools of thought became prominent in Europe, which trickled down to
the West. The move for an industrialized world was taking form, creating structure, rules, and

Abstract Adsorption is one of the preferred techniques in recent years to remove the color and
inorganics from waste water. Activated carbonderived from the agricultural byproduct, acts as an
effective adsorbent for the removal of dyes from waste water. The removal of dyes and metal ions at
different, contact time, bed height, flow rate, initial dye concentration, column diameter, adsorbent
dosage, pH, and temperature by different agriculture based adsorbent has been studied. The result
shows that among the compared adsorbents, moringa oleifera derived adsorbent is effective for

The Allegorical Messages of The Divine Comedy by Dante...
The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic journey
through the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory.
Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of
how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will
guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays
Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man
s journey through life to salvation.
The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way.
In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight
road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from
the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that
leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of
this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right
path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins.
Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark
wood. In Dante s Inferno, this dark wood allegorically resembles the people of mankind who are
not consciously aware of

Missed Oil Change Essay
An important part of a car s maintenance schedule is an engine oil change. An engine s life can
be shortened faster with missed oil changes. The primary function of oil is to cut friction. Oil
changes should not ever be put off. Oil that is dirty or not there does not allow a vehicle to
function properly. The damages can be costly, because it can be irreversible without an engine
overhaul. It is a relatively simple service that should be done when it is due. It is cheaper to buy
oil than to replace an engine. However, it is confusing when an oil change is needed. The
recommendations by quick lube shops speak to a wide audience; address cars of every age,
every mileage, and all have different maintenance schedules. People have been convinced to
stick to the 3,000 mile changes by these companies who are strong advocates driven by profit.
These recommendations are not necessarily the ones your car needs, because there is not a one
size fits all solution. Most people sense their cars require an oil change when they see the low oil

Popularity of Soccer Around the World Essay
Popularity of Soccer Around the World
I am going to talk about the most popular sport in the world: football. Now, you may be having
visions of huge quarterbacks, dressed up in their padding and helmets, parading down the field
during the Super Bowl. But the other kind of football, the football the rest of the world knows,
has no padding or helmets. This other football is known in America as soccer. In more than 175
countries across the globe, football, or soccer, rates as the number 1 national sport.
Football dates back as far as thousands of years ago. There are records that show that ancient
civilizations of Greece, Egypt, and China (among others) played an age old form of football with a
stuffed leather ball. Early games in Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the present there are more than 2 million players registered with official football organizations,
and about 275,000 clubs play in official leagues and tournaments. The World Cup, held every
four years, is the highlight of football tournaments. Held by FIFA (of course), it lasts 1 month,
and on this month, the world s eyes are on the World Cup. In 1994, over 1 billion people watched
the World Cup, and the events leading up to it. The fans are everything to football. The pride of
their city or country equals the pride of their football team.
A football game is not about sitting and quietly watching the game while eating hotdogs and
peanuts... it is a wild fiasco! The fans dress up in costumes and their team colors, they paint their
faces and bodies and sing songs in unison about their team. The stadiums are gigantic and
chaotic. The Maracana Stadium in Brazil is usually filled up to it s capacity with 220,000
screaming fans. Once, many Brazilian fans fainted in the stands when they lost to Uruguay. The
popularity of this sport also has it s downsides. It has even been deadly. For instance, in 1969 the
qualifying games between El Salvador and Honduras caused a war between the 2 countries. There
had been conflict between the countries, but things boiled over when they clashed on the playing
field, sparking a full scale war that lasted 2 weeks.

How Did Fillipo Brunelleschi Contribute To The Renaissance
As the Renaissance was the rebirth of Greco Roman culture, the architecture in Italy was based off
of Classical Roman examples. In that era, an architect s journey to Rome was required to study the
buildings and ruins. Italian architecture was created through pillars, columns, arches, domes, and
entablatures. Renaissancearchitecture is one of the most appreciated in the world. Humanist
architects wished to construct structures that would connect with people through emotions and
reason. Marcus Vitruvius Pollio s architectural writings also helped the Italian architects create a
sense of beauty. The two leading architects in the Early Renaissance were Filippo Brunelleschi and
Leon Battista Alberti. Brunelleschi mainly created churches. HIs dome of FlorenceBasilica was the
largest dome in the pre industrial world. This dome is not considered Renaissance work, for it is
gothic. Brunelleschi s other full buildings are considered Renaissance, and the most popular of
them all is Basilica of San Lorenzo. The exterior has blind arches, while the interior has planar
classicism. Alberti was a theorist. He was the most influential architectural theorist in the Early
Renaissance. He instructed architects on how to turn old, classic buildings into modern ones. Alberti

Donato Bramante was the leader of this period. HIs greatest work is the Tempietto, a Doric shrine
on the site of St. Peter s martyrdom. The Church of Santa Maria has a central plan that resembles
Bramante s, yet it is not known that he created it. The Palazzo Farnese was designed principally by
Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. He was Bramate s student. This follows the Renaissance Palazzo
layout. It is a three story rectangular building with rows of windows. Rustication was a popular
decorative element of the palazzo. This means that the masonry wall is rough instead of smooth.

Sephardic Jewish Pirates the Caribbean Connection
If you plan on touring the island of Jamaica, you may be interested in visiting the oldest Jewish
cemetery, Hunt s Bay cemetery, near Kingston. Kingston has a Jewish community dating back to
the 1600s. What you will find in this cemetery may astonish you: typical Jewish gravestones with
a Hebrew inscription. But that is not the unusual part; in the corner of some gravestones, you ll see
carved pictures of skulls and crossbones. What are crossbones doing in a Jewish cemetery? What

Hence, the title Portugal in all the Spanish Colonies became synonymous with New Christians or
Marranos. Though the New World was under Spanish rule, the Crown turned a blind eye to the
secret Jewish communities sprouting up in every new colony. The Jews played it safe, changing
their names and feigning devotion to the Catholic religion, all the while building an economic
empire of international trade throughout South and Central America, the Caribbean Sea and
European waters of the Mediterranean.
SPAINAS A WORLD POWER As Spanish conquistadors conquered and settled land after land in
the New World, jewelry from the natives and mines of silver and gold poured into the Spanish
treasury from the Incas. Sugar, coffee, bananas, tobacco and other profitable crops that thrived in
the warm climate of the Caribbean islands, Central America and South America, filled ship after
Spanish ship with an abundance of wealth from the new colonies. As Spain s treasury filled, other
European nations had their eyes on the golden mine of New World treasures. While the Spanish
conquistadors conquered land, plundered the natives and terrorized their women, the Marranos
dedicated themselves to settling the new lands and creating a safe world for them to live in. They

Essay about Mexico City
Mexico City
Like an enormous living museum, Mexico City provides an extraordinary showplace for the
thousands of years of human cultural achievement that Mexico has attained. It ranks as one of the
world s great capitals and is a must for anyone craving to understand Mexico s complex past, its fast
paced present, and its ever challenging future. The size and grandeur of the city are staggering. It is
not only the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere, but, by some accounts,
has also become the largest city in the world. Before we look at present day Mexico City, let us look
into it deep and storied past.

Many buildings and streets were constructed, and it served as cultural and social center of North
and South America. When 1810 came, however, a Mexican Independence movement, started by
Miguel Hidalgo, caused Mexican peasants to fight against the Spanish government. After 11 years,
the fight was successful, and Mexico declared its independence.
Mexico City was the center of many more conflicts in Mexican history. In 1847, the city was
captured by U.S. forces under Winfield Scott to end the Mexican American War. The price for
Mexico was the loss of the land that is now most of the southern U.S. In 1863, the city was
captured again, but this time by French forces, upset that Mexico refused to pay its debt to France
on time. The French controlled the city for a year until Mexican forces retook it in 1864.
Over the next 30 years, Mexico City really began to thrive. Under Porfirio Diaz, more roads and
telegraph lines were constructed. Rail lines into the U.S. and other provinces of Mexico were built,
and foreign investment greatly increased, as well. In 1910, Mexico City had grown to a population
of 471,000. The following 10 years saw all of Mexico in a state of disarray as a revolution was
taking place.

Play in childhood
Play What is play? Play is defined as engaging in activates for enjoyment recreation rather than a
serious practical purpose. Playing is a disorganized voluntary spontaneous activity, which may
include objects, one s body, symbol usage, and relationships. Play is flexible, individualize,
grouped, motivating, self directed, open ended, or self directed. (Smith, 2013) (Saskatchewan
Ministry of Education, 2010) While playing, children are gaining creative skills for creative
development, which enhances the ability of creativity, learning techniques, and academic success.
The most important development is cognitive. This development is vital for school success.

Sensorimotor play, also know as functional play, involves repetitive use of reflexes, such as,
swinging, sliding, or playing on the merry go round This type of play can be observed on
playgrounds. Dramatic play is a type of symbolic play in which a child acts out an individual.
When others engage in the acting, it becomes sociodramatic play. Games with rules allow children
to build social skills. (Playground Professionals LLC, 2013)
Importance of play Why is play important? Erik Erikson third stage of psychosocial development,
initiative versus guilt emerges around 3 6 years of age. During this aggressive stage, children
start to take on life and exploring themselves. If a child has too much guilt in this stage, it can
hinder the child and slow down their social and creativity skills. Parents are to encourage the
child, but give guilt as well to establish their self control and conscience. (McLeod, 2013) Play is
essential in child development, because skills such as language, physical, emotional, social, literacy,
creative, and cognitive are developed. A variety of play, activities, and toys, require different words
to describe the play that is occurring, enhancing language development. Language development is
important in communication, language forms functions, intentional verbal interactions (asking and
answering questions), and playing with language (i.e., rhymes, jokes, riddles).

The Implications Of Oil Trade
Even the important contribution of Chapter 2, the proposed analysis requires a deeper study to
understand the implications related to oil trade and how the expected oil production will be
consumed by the demand. Considering only Canada for all the expected oil production from the
Western provinces doesn t seem enough. To achieve the forecasted production levels, producers of
Western Canadian oil must find a market that values their oil at reasonable price. Without access to
seaports, Alberta and Saskatchewan need to develop their transportation capacity to export this
expected production. The challenge related to the increasing availability of Western Canadian oil
and its distribution to domestic and international markets is imminent. Indeed, uncertainty in oil
reserves and production implies uncertainty on future trade movements, and consequently, on oil
corridors. It is now becoming a political, economic and national security matter that this oil finds
access to other markets and export opportunities (McKenna, 2013). As for their actual markets,
maintenance on existing pipelines and the necessity of upgrading refineries to process this crude oil
from Western Canada create bottlenecks upstream that increase the constraints to allow the
expected growth. All these challenges have economic implications that translate in a price
differential. The oil production surplus and the inability to reach external markets already have
negative effects on oil prices for Western Canadian

How Did Martha Graham Integrate The Themes Of History
Countless artists have created works that integrate themes of historical events. Martha Graham, also
known as the Mother of Modern Dance, has produced several renowned pieces with this. I believe
that her piece, Panorama, is a great example of a piece that uses history that is timeless. The dance
was choreographed in 1935 for students at Bennington College in Vermont during their summer
danceworkshops. These workshops contained unique American modern dancers and
choreographers that shared their ideas and technique. The piece is separated into three sections
named, Theme of Dedication, Imperial Theme, and Popular Theme . It premiered on August
14th, 1935. The set was designed by Arch Lauterer and Mobiles were created by Alexander
Calder. Panorama was performed by 35 women all wearing red skirts and matching tops. I believe
that Graham chose these costumes because dresses are very feminine and many of her pieces have
dresses as costumes. I also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dance served as a great outlet to express these feelings to the public. I agree with the decision to

The US Housing Market Bubble
When researching past economic recoveries, the housing market is the one to drive the economy
out of recession. That being said, this economic recession hasn t had much of an impact until
recently. America s housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices
and flow of new home construction.
The new construction market in the mid 2000 s was flourishing. People saw building a home as
an opportunity for a solid investment because prices and rates were so low that certain homes
could depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low
cost new construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new
construction market.
In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price,
and this allowed people to buy and sell homes with minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with
their lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually
anybody with a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even
going to see if the land and ability for development was there. This created a housing bubble in
2006, and would inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged
as the new construction industry.
Once things started to get bad, they got really bad for a lot of families who were given mortgages,
who were not properly qualified. There was a major spike in defaults, with

Comparing Mistaken Identity in Merchant of Venice, Comedy...
Mistaken Identity in Merchant of Venice, Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night and As You Like It
The ploy of mistaken identity as a plot device in writing comedies dates back at least to the times
of the Greeks and Romans in the writings of Menander and Plautus. Shakespeare borrowed the
device they introduced and developed it into a fine art as a means of expressing theme as well as
furthering comic relief in his works. Shakespeare s artistic development is clearly shown in the four
comedies The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, TwelfthNight, and Measure for Measure where
he manages to take the germinal idea of mistaken identity and expand it to peaks its originators
never fathomed.
In Shakespeare s first comedy, The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Disguise is one of Shakespeare s favorite ploys found in varying degrees in each of the
mentioned works. Through it he alters the identity of an individual (frequently female character,
though not always) and uses this disguise to heighten irony, develop theme, and enhance subtle
comic innuendo. In As You Like It, Shakespeare develops specific ironies where the dialogue
takes on new meaning when the true identity of the speaker (or hearer) is placed over the
dialogue. By having characters in disguise, Shakespeare opens the door for all kinds of comic
twists from the shepherdess in love with the shepherd Ganymede who is really a girl (Rosalind)
to Orlando sharing feelings of love to Ganymede who is really Orlando s love Rosalind in
disguise. The difficulty in maintaining a disguise or hidden identity is shown in the desire to say
and experience things in the one identity than can only be accomplished by the alter identity which
compounds the verbal comedy in the mistaken meanings of what is being said. In Measure for
Measure, the Duke uses disguise and mistaken identity to reveal the truth about Angelo s character.
At the same time this disguise provides comic moments as Lucio speaks of the Duke to the Duke
while unaware of the Duke s identity.
In Twelfth Night Shakespeare

Does the Pharmaceutical Industry Have Too Much Power in Law and Healthcare?
The pharmaceutical industry has been taking advantage of healthcare by implementing laws
modeled to benefit the industry greatly, while consumers have struggled. The drug industry uses
their own sources and self sponsored research to further their influence in healthcare. Although the
pharmaceutical industry provides healthcare with good medical resources, it is highly costly for
consumers due to the manipulation of laws and healthcare. The industry is biased and sponsors its
own research to gain more funding, which typically goes to waste. Science is always looking to

The amount that companies are spending is also a big factor that contributes to the issue, most
start out companies are seen getting ideas and research from universities and other companies, but
these companies typically do not utilize them the way they should. Again this is because laws put
in place by the industry prevent them from doing so. Price controls that reduce prices too low
reduce output and capacity, lower the quality of the services that are provided, and diminish the
incentives for innovation, including ongoing R D . The industry has no excuse however, because
the manipulation of drug prices has almost backfired on them. People have become aware that the
pricing is ridiculously high, and the industry is quite getting everything they need. The industry has
created most of the problems they are trying to solve today and continue to seemingly make worse
the problems on purpose. Pharmaceutical companies are struggling to appease the public because
of the laws the industry have implemented, smaller companies usually fail because of the needs for
profit, and other needs to keep companies alive. Pharmaceutical companies have been taking
advantage of the public and taxpayer money for decades, with legislation allowing

  • 4. The Concept Of Cultural Erasure, Inequality And Violence Postcolonialism: The Concept of Cultural Erasure, Inequality and Violence Colonization can be dated back to 1492 with the Spanish venture led by Columbus. Colonialism is defined as The policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically (Oxford Dictionary). This expedition spread European influence worldwide, in places such as China, Lebanon, India, and Antigua. European influence is still prevalent today through the crossing of racial lines and shifting of cultures towards a more civilized way of living. Colonialismis still prevalent today, in the form of postcolonialism. Postcolonialism can be defined as America s benefaction to nations worldwide that include dynamic influences in things such as: government, culture, education and economy. One of the concepts erected from colonialism is globalization. Since globalization is a direct effect of colonialism, it is no surprise that globalization influences the same categories as postcolonialism (government, culture, education and economy), making the two concepts almost synonymous with minimal differences. Globalization is defined as the integration of economics and communications of nations through increased contact by technology. Globalization dominates the economic and social side of the field while postcolonialism dwells in the cultural and educational aspects. This European gift has contributed to global conflicts, ... • 5. Brief Description Of Manila, Philippines BODY I.Brief Description of Manila, Philippines. Manila is the capital of the Philippines and it is located in Luzon; which is the largest island in the archipelago. Due to its convenient location for a trade route, it is known as the Pearl of the Orient. Before Manila was rebuilt, the city suffered many episodes of destruction during World War II (WWII) where the Japanese invasion occurred. Even though Manila is believed to be one of Southeast Asia s best capital cities for its breathtaking views and culture, it has its flaws. Manila is filled with crime, corruption, overpopulation, and the daily inevitable and cumbersome traffic jams. Yet, this city is still the biggest, most developed and prosperous when compared to the other cities in the Philippines. II.The Importance of Preserving Historical Landmarks Historical landmarks are just as important as every other building that has ever existed. They all have a purpose; yet people still choose to demolish these structures. It shows a lack of respect towards the architectural monuments. Most believe that creating brand new buildings is cheaper and more beneficial rather than maintaining the ancient ones but it is the opposite. • 6. Assembly Line and Line Workers JIELIANG PHONE HOME CASE STUDY PROBLEM STATEMENT Jieliang (DL) is a line worker at Precision Electro Tech s Dongguan, China manufacturing plant. During a plant walk through, Marty Cole (OEM Global Team) witnessed Jieliang being publicly disciplined in front of her fellow line workers for not following Total Quality Control (TQC) procedures and using her own method. ANALYSIS Precision Electro Tech is a large contract manufacturer (CM) that produces products (i.e., cell phones) for another company or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). In the case of complex assembly tasks, if those tasks can be broken down into simple unit manufacturing steps that can be completely specified, they can be sent to low cost countries like China ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although her rationale was not explicitly stated, several factors were in play. Jieliang was trained that way and trusted her fellow factory workers and believed they were capable hard workers with ambition and drive (Shih, et al., 2009). She knew (perhaps subconsciously) that the TQC shortcut was more efficient and believed that it was the prudent course of action. Additionally, there was a level of enabling and complicity from the floor supervisors who believed in the old adage, one eye open and one eye closed. Jieliang s motivation and intent is difficult to know for sure; especially given how she and her fellow workers strived to get the job done quicker, in part to have some computer play time and flash card study time. There are three players involved in this situation and each represents a role and cultural differentiation: Marty Cole, OEM American, Yellow Hat, Supervisor Chinese, and Jieliang, DL Chinese. Each of these players possesses their unique personality and VABEs. Marty Cole s observation was alarming due to his witness of public reprimand by the Yellow Hat toward Jieliang, DL. The Yellow Hat is a position of authority and Jieliang is a line worker in a subordinate role at the manufacturing plant. The expectation of protocol for line workers is for them to follow the procedures to the letter with no deviation or suffer the consequences. Thus, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was one of a kind. It was a stretch jersey with an open back. Her little black dress. When she tried it on, it was form fitting but it looks sexy on her. It also shows a lot of cleavage. She admired her 5 3 frame in the seven foot mirror. She smiles at herself, noting the light shining its way back through her eyes. Girl, you are wearing that dress. Caitlin whistled and her girls laughs. Caitlin watched as the girls held Paris long auburn hair that is now down her back high up in the air. Paris spins as she laughs happily with them while Caitlin stood back admiring her. What a sexy doll. I want her. Too bad she doesn t know what she really in for. Caitlin thought. She sighs. Does. Draco awed, and laughs with the girls. Boy, close your damn mouth! You re drooling. Caitlin joked. Draco wipes the nonexistent drool, and was loving how the dress seem to fit perfectly around Paris breasts and butt. He was in love. The Two Components of the Motive (click to enlarge) 1/10 9/29/12 MTO 13.3: Ricci, The Progress of a Motive in Brahms s Intermezzo op. 119, no. 3 [7] The melodic cell and harmonic progression J and DOWN THIRD UP FIFTH sometimes occur independently, but for the most part interact to create a larger unit. This larger unit, given at the bottom of Example 2, is the motive of my title.(8) Again, the fact that the motive is exclusively diatonic is significant, because it makes the chromatic pitch classes especially salient. [8] The opening of the piece animates the motive by repeating and varying the duration of J while arpeggiating the chords of DOWN THIRD UP FIFTH. Example 3 annotates the melody of m. 1 through the downbeat of m. 3, which fuses together three Js.(9) By fusing together three Js and altering the duration of the final pitch of each J (the durations are , , and , for the three occurrences, respectively), Brahms creates a symmetrical rhythmic structure.(10) The dots below the staff indicate metric position: two dots indicate a strong beat, one dot a weak

  • 10. Symbolism In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men The Setting of a Dream In the story, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, the setting is used as symbolism and portrays the differences between the natural world and life on the ranch. Many particular phrases and objects foreshadow important events throughout the novel. Using imagery, Steinbeck demonstrates the contrast between the world on the ranch and natural world. The nature of the forest, river, and certain setting descriptions creates a deeper meaning that relates to many of the themes in the story. To begin, the river is used to symbolize the dreams and goals of humanity. The river separates two worlds from touching: On one side, there are beautiful rolling hills and strong mountains. The trees were once new, beautiful, and young. However, throughout time, many people have come and sat under the tree: and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs... and underneath the tree there is an ash pile made by many fires (1 2). The unfortunate mark of humanity is left on the tree. On the other hand, the invitation extended by the trees is accepted by travelers who long to accomplish their dream. In the end, Lennie returns to the river when the light is turning dark. The dreams can no longer be seen. The sycamore trees start to turn up their silver sides, the brown, dry leaves on the ground scudded a few feet. And row on row of tiny wind waves flowed up the pool s green surface (99). • 12. An Indian Woman s Experience With Imperialism The basis of imperialism is established by depriving nations of their true identity, self confidence, and independence. Dominance is best put as power and influence over others. This idea of dominance is bewildering. Who would have thought that holding more power than another individual would exist in this world when we were all created as equals from the start? Being seen as more powerful because one s skin color is lighter than another or because one has more wealth is preposterous. Imperialism involves a far more powerful country taking over a weaker, less powerful country while exploiting the people as well as the resources. This can be seen when Rukmani s son Arjun states It is not enough. I am tired of hunger and I am tired of seeing my brothers hungry. There is never enough, especially since Ira came to live with us (51). This shows how much power the British in India actually had since the Indians had no other choice but to work at the tannery unless they wanted to starve. Even though the villagers may have not wanted to work under British rule, they had no other choice. The tannery had such a major impact on the villagers lives. While the tannery can be seen as a good way for many individuals in the village to get jobs, this is one of the only benefits the tannery provided. While jobs were created, the workers still received a low pay and had to work under harsh conditions. The main purpose of the tannery was to make leather products and sell them. This had nothing to do with global progress and in fact, everything to do with gaining power and sovereignty. The British used these Indian peasants to become even more dominant. Similarly, this idea of having no choice can be seen in history when Indians were either sent away to work abroad in factories or sent to fight in the British military in order to receive a higher pay. The tannery in Nectar in a Sieve connotes a symbol of dominance, for example, Great Britain. Britain was far more dominant than India in every way possible. Britain had an exceedingly ... According to the American Psychology Association hypnosis is a therapeutic technique in which clinicians make suggestions to individuals who have undergone a procedure designed to relax them and focus their minds (American Psychology Association, 2016). Hypnosisis called hypnotherapy and hypnotic suggestion. James Braid, a 19th century Scottish surgeon originated those terms based on the word hypnos, which is Greek for to sleep (Harris, 2016). When the person is hypnotized they feel calm and relaxed. The therapist using verbal repetition makes them more open to suggestions. The individual being hypnotized is conscious but is able to ignore the most of everything going on around them. When being hypnotized the person excludes all other thoughts. The most common one is that the person loses their will and that they are completely under the command of the therapist. This idea was formed because many stage hypnotist use it. He used dumpster diving and social engineering to get information from some of the largest companies and he would use passwords and codes to gain access. He has been arrested multiple times the most famous in 1995 after a well publicized pursuit, where he was arrested in North Carolina for computer hacking and wire fraud. This article notes that these attacks have companies more concerned now because these cybercriminals are now targeting companies more than the customers. As Mitnick talked about how hackers will go after company information, more than the users in Chapter 3, this article discusses the dangers companies are having with this Ransomware. The article then talks about the lack of awareness from the companies about this attack method. Also how the attackers are always trying to stay in advance of the companies defenses by creating new attack methods. Another problem this article covers is that many companies are actually paying the ransoms because they do not have good back up systems. In a result of all the companies who end up paying the ransoms, this makes the Ransomware attack more eye catching to the hackers. The FBI has been trying to inform these companies about the problem but over the past few months it still has not improved. Many companies end up paying the hackers the ransom just so they can have their files, and be able to run their business. • 15. Summary Of Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau To some, adventurers like Chris McCandless are young, idealistic, and resolute people with high moral standards. They want to take everything they can out of life, and they want to experience every facet of it. However, this isn t a view everyone shares. To others, McCandless was an irrational kid with no experience who couldn t handle his family issues. On the other hand, Henry David Thoreauis viewed as a calm, steady, and contemplative man with a dedicated love of nature. Chris McCandless and Henry David Thoreau share many similarities, but they also have defining differences. Chris was different from Thoreau because he was running from his past whereas Thoreau wanted to go to the woods, and Chris overestimated himself whereas Thoreau was more level headed, but they were similar in that they both didn t believe in material objects. Chris went into the wild because he wanted to escape his past and because of his general hatred towards prejudice against society, while Thoreau was more positively motivated to go to the wilderness. His motivation to go to the woods was negative because he was running away from something. Although his friends and family described him as very independent and motivated to go against everything he was taught, his real motivation was because of his family struggles. Chris s father, Walt, never fully divorced his ex wife, Marcia, and he still had relations with her despite being married to Billie. When Billie found out, she was very hurt, and so were Walt and Marcia. However, to make amends, Walt finalized the divorce with Marcia. They resolved the problem and moved on. When Chris unearthed this truth, he was unbelievably upset, but he didn t address it directly. Instead, he waited years to talk about it, occasionally shunning his parents and judging them behind their backs. Chris was very self righteous, and he took every opportunity to denounce his father even though the issue of the divorce had been resolved. He expressed his anger in a very passive way, and because he never found real closure, his anger accumulated. He decided to release his anger indirectly. This is why he took classes on racial inequality, and why he was so mad about poverty in the United States. His outrage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These changes had a tremendous effect in the discipline. Political philosophy continued to progress which affected both political theory and political science. It seems that with the progression of political philosophy, there was a growing need for the the discipline to become more scientific. They wanted it to be based on facts, to become value free and to be precise. Political philosophystarted veering away from the classics. Despite the continuous need to be scientific, there were still groups which remained inclined to the classics and believed that the traditions and values are essential in studying the discipline. These conflicting views concerning the traditionalists and the behavioralists caused the gap between political philosophy and political scienceand eventually the two separated. Secondly, privatization also affects the welfare of the society as a whole. This can be explained by examining again the orientation of the firm after being privatized. Theoretically, economic efficiency can be divided into two categories, namely productive efficiency and allocative efficiency. Productive efficiency is achieved if firms produce goods and services demanded by consumer, while allocative efficiency is achieved if the goods produced were marketed to the right people. Right people here means people who demands for the goods and capable to pay for it. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking into consideration that the weight of the cows is a key driver of calf weight, which in turn is the key driver of revenue. An Old Mule Farms average cow weight ranges between 1000 lbs. and 1400 lbs. My recommendation is that if they were to eliminate the lighter and heavier 40% of cows respectively, Old Mill Farms would have heavier calves to sell, resulting in higher revenues. This would also reduce expenses each of the heavier cows has been causing. This recommended approach will substantially reduce the expenses incurred by heavier cows, and increase the calf sell weight produced by the lighter cows. The best approach to measuring the proper size of a cow is to use the primary key driver of cow weight and compare the value of a calf to the cost of maintaining a cow. The principle of diminishing marginal productivity states that as one input in the production process is increased, there will be a point in which the addition of an input will result in smaller and smaller benefit. We can relate this principle with the weight of cows. As more nutrients, minerals, and forage is added to a cow the more a cow weighs. This in turn results in heavier calves. However, when a cow begins to weigh over 1200 lbs. the weight of calves diminishes. When taking in to account the principle of diminishing marginal utility, Old Mill Farms would be able to eliminate their losses by restricting their cow weight to 1200 ... Individual spectators often overlook the actions that are done behind closed doors. Performance is a combination of capabilities and behavior. I believe that capabilities and behavior both stem from good character. Achieving good character will lead to success in some way or fashion. There could be a team with all the talented individuals in the world, but without character, they will be individuals that accomplish nothing as a team. Leadership calls for action in terms of guidance, decision making, structure and control, these qualities are necessary and evident within organizations. After World War I organizations were finding it difficult to organize and operate efficiently. It was in this period Frederick Taylor s Scientific Management framework took precedence in organizations. Taylor introduced a systematic, strategic and scientific method to aid organizations in recovering from the effects of the war, moving towards high levels of productivity, efficacy and efficiency. Taylor s principles highlighted the need for division of responsibility, a systematic and strategic way of choosing and training employees for specific roles, breaking down jobs into smaller tasks and extending to management the responsibility of setting objectives for the organization. Following Taylor was French industrialist, Henri Fayol who contributed the administrative structure of planning, coordinating, commanding, controlling and organizing. Within this defining period of the Industrial Revolution, management theories, literature contributions, and scientific inquiry began to advance. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory. Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man s journey through life to salvation. The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way. In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins. Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark wood. The primary function of oil is to cut friction. Oil changes should not ever be put off. Oil that is dirty or not there does not allow a vehicle to function properly. The damages can be costly, because it can be irreversible without an engine overhaul. It is a relatively simple service that should be done when it is due. It is cheaper to buy oil than to replace an engine. However, it is confusing when an oil change is needed. The recommendations by quick lube shops speak to a wide audience; address cars of every age, every mileage, and all have different maintenance schedules. People have been convinced to stick to the 3,000 mile changes by these companies who are strong advocates driven by profit. These recommendations are not necessarily the ones your car needs, because there is not a one size fits all solution. Most people sense their cars require an oil change when they see the low oil light come on. The light is an indicator that the oil level is low and is losing its ability to function properly. To achieve the forecasted production levels, producers of Western Canadian oil must find a market that values their oil at reasonable price. Without access to seaports, Alberta and Saskatchewan need to develop their transportation capacity to export this expected production. It is now becoming a political, economic and national security matter that this oil finds access to other markets and export opportunities (McKenna, 2013). That being said, this economic recession hasn t had much of an impact until recently. America s housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices and flow of new home construction. The new construction market in the mid 2000 s was flourishing. People saw building a home as an opportunity for a solid investment because prices and rates were so low that certain homes could depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low cost new construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new construction market. In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price, and this allowed people to buy and sell homes with minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with their lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually anybody with a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even going to see if the land and ability for development was there. This created a housing bubble in 2006, and would inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged as the new construction industry. Shakespeare borrowed the device they introduced and developed it into a fine art as a means of expressing theme as well as furthering comic relief in his works. In As You Like It, Shakespeare develops specific ironies where the dialogue takes on new meaning when the true identity of the speaker (or hearer) is placed over the dialogue. By having characters in disguise, Shakespeare opens the door for all kinds of comic twists from the shepherdess in love with the shepherd Ganymede who is really a girl (Rosalind) to Orlando sharing feelings of love to Ganymede who is really Orlando s love Rosalind in disguise. The difficulty in maintaining a disguise or hidden identity is shown in the desire to say and experience things in the one identity than can only be accomplished by the alter identity which compounds the verbal comedy in the mistaken meanings of what is being said.
