2. The title is just the bands name (as
they do in Q magazine) The
yellow background is used to help
the title stand out. It is also used to
keep to the style of my magazine
as I have used the yellow on the
contents page.
• The font is Bebas Neue (the
main text used throughout the
magazine)
• Rectangle made using the
shape tool on Photoshop.
The pull quote
follows the
layout design,
the font is
Bebas neue
(from
dafont.com)
Black writing
follows the
colour scheme.
The article information (subheading)
• font is Times new roman (italic) The subheading font
for the whole magazine.
• Red is used to point out the important information
such as who wrote it and who it is about.
3. I created the article on word, the article talks
about the interview and photo-shoot in past
tense, this is how most alternative music
magazines write their articles. There is a pull
quote in the middle of the article to draw
people into reading it. The font used is times
new roman which is used for all of the sub-
text in the magazine.
• The drop cap used is in red which follows
the colour scheme of the magazine.
• The yellow used to hi-light the pull quote
draws the audience into the article
• The extra section is in red and white
because it will stand out separate from
the article which is what I want. But its in
red because I still want it to tie into the
double page spread.
4. The image used for the double page spread includes
the same band on the front cover, only with a costume
change. I changed the offset, brightness and contrast
on the photo using Photoshop as the original (see
above) is too bright on the face and I wanted to red to
stand out more so it ties in with the red used on the
double page spread. The image is located on the left
as the reader usually looks from left-to-right so the
image will be the first thing they see, thus drawing them
in. The photographer information is down the side
making the image& double page spread look
professional . The about section keeps to the colour
scheme and is used to draw people into the article.
5. Colours used:
• Yellow , used to hi-light
sections of the double page
spread helping the article
stand out.
• Red, used to make pieces
of information stand out
more than the yellow that I
don’t want to be ignored.
Such as the extra section
and the beginning of the
text.
• Black, Used for text,
keeping it simple and helps
stand out from the colours
used.
• White, used for small section
of text in the extra section
so it stands out from the
usual black text.
6. Fonts used:
• Bebas neue (from
dafont.com), Used for the
title, pull quote, drop cap,
and titles for the about
and extra section. Its bold
and used for heading text
in all of the magazine.
• Times New roman, Used
for the sub-text (article,
article information etc)
7. I changed the place of the subtitle,
because there wasn’t enough room
between the title and the article.
Also when I moved it beneath the
pull quote, I asked a peer to tell me if
they liked it, their comment was: “it
looks professional”
I added another pull quote onto the
article without it the double page looked
bland and full of writing and wasn’t very
appealing.
