 This poster is highly effective in promoting Adele’s
new CD “Adele 21”. The main image is very
similar to the one present on the CD cover, as is
the house style, both media products using
darker backgrounds, proving the synergy
between the ancillary texts. The use of a silver
and black colour scheme could represent the high
classed nature of Adele, her music is often
marketed for a middle class and middle aged
audience. The poster contains key information
such as the title of the CD, information on its
release date and the record company promoting
the album. The use of the words “Award winner”
represent Adele’s worldwide success which could
entice more people to buy the album. Finally, an
image of Adele’s CD cover in the bottom left of
the poster could be seen as an extra marketing
ploy. By placing this here, fans and potential
customers will know what to look for in the shops
and on digital download sites such as ITunes.
Adele’s cover is therefore a perfect example of
how a music poster can be used to great effect to
promote the ancillary media products.

 Jessie J’s poster for her album “Who You
Are” is also an excellent example of how
the poster can be used to represent an
artists brand image and help promote
other media products. The artists use of a
gold and black colour scheme is vital. The
gold helps represent money and the
increasing wealth of not only the artist, but
the music industry as a whole. The poster
explains that the new album contains old
favourites such as Jessie J’s hit single
“Price Tag”, features that will entice fans of
her old music to buy the album and
therefore increase its overall profits. The
poster also features the artists website, a
clear attempt to direct fans to further
content and ultimately more merchandise,
leading to a stronger brand image as well
as increased sales.

 Rihanna’s poster again helps advertise her
latest album as well as attempts to increase
her star image. The use of a dark coloyr
scheme is important in highlighting the two
coloured sections of the poster, the words
“Russian Roulette” and “Hard”. This is done
for a purpose, not only does it look eye-
catching, therefore increasing existing sales,
the words highlight key songs within the
album. Fans of these songs will therefore be
able to quickly identify that this album is
tailored to their needs which would in turn
increase interest for her album. The main
image as well as the darker colour scheme,
helps represent a sinister trait to Beyonce’s
personality and perhaps her music. This
could perhaps appeal even more to her
target audience of teenage girls, as well as
lead us to consider the star image she is
trying to represent.
