The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Assignment 6 : Magazine advert
research
By Liam Cornwall - Tombs
2. Adele’s cover is a perfect example of
how a music poster can be used to great
effect.
The main image is very similar to the one
present on the CD cover, as is the house
style, both media products using darker
backgrounds.
The use of a silver and black colour
scheme could represent the high classed
nature of Adele, her music is often
marketed for a middle class and middle
aged audience.
The poster contains key information such
as the title of the CD, information on its
release date and the record company
promoting the album.
The use of the words “Award winner”
represent Adele’s worldwide success which
could entice more people to buy the album.
Finally, an image of Adele’s CD cover in
the bottom left of the poster could be
seen as an extra marketing ploy. By
placing this here, fans and potential
customers will know what to look for in
the shops and on digital download sites
such as ITunes.
3. The artist’s name is written in the biggest font on the advert.
This font is used for all Katy Perry’s products and makes it
recognisable to her audience.
Very little information
is presented at the
bottom making what is
written stand out more
The name of her hit
new single is written
on the advert to
attract viewers.
The bright pink and
white writing stands
out from the rest of
the poster.
The release date is
written in a bold writing
which makes it stand out.
The artist’s website is
written in a small font at
the bottom for ways to
find out more about the
artist.
The garden setting and costume the artist is
wearing is quite girly. This suggests her
target audience is for mainly females. The
pink and purple colours she is wearing also
supports this idea.
The artist is looking
straight at the camera
which creates a direct
address to the audience
and making the
audience feel like the
artist is personally
selling them the album.
The setting of the image is the same
setting as the one on the album
cover which will make the album
recognizable to people who have
seen the poster.
The image is very large and takes
over the whole advert.
4. The website is advertised to further market
the artists music and the album.
The slogan on the poster states that the artist is “The
President of Hip Hop” suggesting that the album is of
the Hip Hop genre as well as the fact of the artist is a Hip
Hop artist.
The image shown on the poster takes up the
majority of the poster’s space suggests that he is
the artist of the album. The contrast of the black
and red colours between hi s face and the
background makes him stand out showing how
important he sees himself.
The name of the artist has a large, bold,
white font which allows the audience to
instantly notice it; Jay-Z is a popular artist
and if audiences know that this is his
album, they would be more likely to be
drawn to it.
The album name is the second largest font
on the poster, which ties it into the artists
name, keeping the same font and become
easily noticeable for the audience. The
name “Kingdom come” may refer to how
he feels about himself.
The poster has a release date for the
audience to be notified when the album
will be available to purchase. The release
date is also quite noticeable, as it is
positioned near the most eye catchy
features on the poster (the album and
artist names), which would allow the
audience to easily read the release date.
5. -what are the different layout styles?
Alphabet: format that focus on letters of the alphabet for ideas for the advert
Big picture: large illustration dominates with minimal text
Mondrian: use primary colours and rectangular shapes
Multi panel: such as comic strip or story board
Frame : add enclosed in a border
Silhouette: has a silhouette
-what are the sizes?
They can be any size but smaller is cheaper and normally used.
-what information/text is included in the advert?
Visual, caption, headline, copy and signature
-what is featured/highlighted?
Product/song, artist, title
-what is conventional or expected about the graphics or photography?
Some thing that works with the title, artist and genre
-is the artist featured? Why or why not? How?
Some times sometimes not depending on artist or genre
-is there a 'brand' that is established that in consistent with the artist in their other promotional
material?
Something to look out for because they do tend to follow through themes from album
to album
