M5 – Graphic Animation Using Motion Guides
Motion Guides So far we have learnt how to use a motion tween to create movement in our animation. What if we want to create a movement that is not in a straight line? We use motion guides !
Motion Guides We need to create an object to move. Design something in a new layer (Layer 1) and then select your object. Then Modify – Convert to symbol Select Graphic and give your symbol a name.
Motion Guides Next Add Motion Guide Button below your layers Click the first frame of the new layer (Guide Layer). Select the pencil tool. From Options select smooth. Draw the line or path you want your object to follow. Insert frame on this layer (Guide Layer) at the END of the animation.
Motion Guides Now go back to the first frame of the layer with your graphic symbol (Layer 1). Using the selection tool drag the circle in the middle of your symbol to the BEGINNING of the path. The symbol should snap to the path, you will know when it’s in the right place.
Motion Guides Next – Insert Key Frame at the END of your animation (Layer 1). Drag your object away from the path (NOT using the circle). Then select the circle in your symbol and snap to the END of the path. Next, somewhere in the middle of the start and end (on Layer 1) Create Motion Tween .
Motion Guides Test your movie. Your object should follow the path you created. The path should not be visible on the screen.
Motion Guides Click the tween. Change the Rotate value. Test again. Click Orient to Path . Test again. We can change the way the object follows your path.
