Lord Of The Flies Allegory Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Lord of the Flies Allegory" can be both challenging and
intellectually stimulating. The task requires a deep understanding of William Golding's classic
novel, "Lord of the Flies," and an ability to analyze its allegorical elements.
To begin with, one needs to delve into the intricate symbolism embedded in the narrative. This
involves deciphering the allegorical representations of characters, events, and settings, and
grasping their broader implications. Connecting these symbols to real-world themes or historical
events adds another layer of complexity to the essay.
Moreover, a comprehensive exploration of the characters and their evolving dynamics is crucial.
Understanding how the boys' behavior reflects broader societal issues requires a keen eye for
detail and a thoughtful analysis of their interactions. The allegorical significance of characters
like Piggy, Ralph, and Jack must be carefully examined, considering their roles as symbols in the
broader context of the story.
Furthermore, the essay should address the novel's overarching themes, such as the inherent
human capacity for savagery, the fragility of civilization, and the consequences of unchecked
power. Drawing connections between these themes and the allegorical elements adds depth to
the analysis but demands a nuanced and well-supported argument.
In terms of writing style, clarity and coherence are paramount. Effectively conveying complex
ideas while maintaining a logical flow can be a daunting task. Balancing the exploration of
allegorical elements with a clear thesis statement and well-structured paragraphs requires a
refined writing skill.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the allegorical aspects of "Lord of the Flies" demands a
combination of literary analysis, critical thinking, and effective communication. The complexity
of the task lies in unraveling the layers of symbolism, understanding the broader implications,
and presenting a cohesive argument that captures the essence of the allegory.

3. In the second paragraph, highlight three or four things that qualify you for the
position. This is done most effectively if you have called the employer ahead of
time and asked them to identify the major duties, and skills required for the
position. A job description will frequently list 10 or 20 duties, but most of your time
will be spent on four or five tasks. Find out what those tasks are so you can focus
this paragraph on your experience and/or skills related to those items.
4. The third paragraph, if you choose to use it, can describe additional skills, or you

Avon Products-China Entry
Executive Summary Avon Products
Avon Products is one of the major players in the cosmetics and toiletries industry
with a sale of about 10 billion US dollars in 2007 (Exhibits 1, 2 3). It has been
globally competitive by creating global brands and nurturing its powerful sales
channel of Single level Marketing (Direct Selling).
Globally, Avon competes with large cosmeticsmajors like P G, Revlon and Shiseido
to sell its products. At the same time, it also competes with other major direct sellers
like Amway, Mary Kay and Tupperware to attract its salesforce. Avon has primarily

Avon s Direct Selling Model and its Sales Representatives A Tangible Resource
As a direct seller Avon did not rely on classic advertising and marketing methods,
but on door to door, word of mouth strategy through trained sales representatives.
This has been the lifeblood of the company and over the years this has proven to be
its distinct source of competitive advantage as well (Exhibit 8).
Here we are trying to apply the tests for competitively valuable resources to the direct
selling model of Avon.
1)Test of Inimitability As a tangible resource, this has been inimitable because of the
fact that Avon s sales representatives were mainly women who wanted part time jobs.
This was further re inforced given that Avon s concentration was on beauty related
products and most of these women were easily trained on these products. This helped
them in reducing the cost of advertising and
Examples Of Oppression In A Tale Of Two Cities
Oppression Led to Rebellion It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
(Dickens,3). The world is such a duality where the good and bad things are going
on the same time. Some people are experiencing happinesses, some people are
suffering from difficulties; the world is just not fit for everyone. In the book A Tale
of Two Cities, oppression is fully put on the poor, while the happiness is enjoyed by
the rich. The poor have endured the endless difficulties until all of their anger
reached a peak and a revolutionary war broke out. While the poor began their
revenge, the rich were still enjoying their abuse of powers. The poor couldn t deal
with these injustices which made their hearts oppressed and led them to the vengeful
revolution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the injustices, people demanded a law to equalize the power, which was
called the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen (August 26, 1789). The
law states: men are equal, and taxation should be determined based on ability to
pay.(Burch). The enactment of the law seemed logic in this case: it was difficult
to let the poor change their lifestyle without other supports. And the rich was able
to afford the taxes, but they didn t spend efforts on helping others, and lack of
empathy on other caused them got a vengeful feedback from the poor. In the book
TOTC, the author described the vengeful people who were vexed by the threatens
from the government and rushed into the Bastille looking for gunpowder by using
some deep metaphors. With a roar that sounded as if all breath in France had been
shaped into the detested word, the living sea rose, wave on wave, depth on depth,
and overflowed the city to that point. (Dickens, 207). Roar means the anger from
oppressed citizens which shows the strength of their hatred. The author described
the crowd as a risen sea which rushed into the Bastille like an uncontrollable tide.
The depth of the sea is unpredictable, there were feelings of hatred from everywhere;
the rich could never know how many people they have offended and how much
hatred they have to deserve. All people have rights to receive equality, if

The latest trend with respect to software services is to lease or hire the services. The
increasing costs of installing software and the complexities involved in creating an
infrastructure, and human resources to maintain and manage the technical aspects

c)Advantages and disadvantages of implementing ASP:
The advantages of implementing ASP is that, this model helps in saving time and
cost involved in implementing a technological infrastructure, like servers, network
software, database etc. Besides this, each time software updations happen, expert
support is provided by the service provider. However, the service terms and
conditions are to be defined. Besides, these some more advantages are listed here.
Elimination of Software integration problems from the client s premises
The cost of the software application is spread over a number of clients

Essay about Personal Narrative Self Identity
Personal Narrative Self Identity Throughout most of my childhood, I have been
predominantly exposed to nothing but the Chinese culture. When my parents first
immigrated to the United States from Canton, China, they rented a small apartment
located right in the heart of Chinatown. Chinatown was my home, the place where I
met all my friends, and the place where I d thought I d never leave. I spoke only
Cantonese, both to my friends and to my parents. Everyone I was around spoke
fluent Cantonese, and I never spoke anything other than Cantonese. I was pretty

The painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus portrays a peasant guiding a horse
driven plow on a plot of unfarmed land, which looks to be on side of a mountain.
Slightly above and to the right, on a plot of land beneath that s pictured to a lower

surrounded by sheep, seventeen in all, fifteen white and two black. Directly to the
right of the shepherd is a sheep dog, the dog appears to be staring at something

Climate Change And Weather Change
Recently, climate change has been a major topic of discussion. As the world decides
what actions should be taken to help with the changing climate, severe weather has
increased over the past few years. Several factors has created a change in climate but
there have been countless effects to Earth because of climate changeand severe
weatheris one of those effects. In fact, the first decade of this century (2001 2010)
was the hottest decade recorded since reliable records began in the late 1800s (Union
of Concerned Scientist, n.d.). The Earth is not only stronger storms such as Hurricane
Ivan, Super Typhoon Haiyan, Joplin, MO tornado and tornado super outbreaks, but
there also have been severe droughts as well. Climate change is effecting extreme
weather because the climate has been changing over the years causing the waters and
Earth to become warmer, which is causing extreme weather to become stronger and
more severe. Extreme weather can include storms and floods, temperature extremes,
droughts and habitat shifting alteration (The Open Standards, n.d.). According to The
Open Standards, storms and floods includes thunderstorms, tropical storms,
hurricanes and cyclones, tornadoes, hailstorms, ice storms and blizzards, dust
storms and erosions of the beaches. Temperature extremes are heat waves, cold
spells, oceanic temperature changes and disappearance of glaciers/sea ice. The Open
Standards also states that droughts are severe lack of rain and loss of surface water
Zachary Miller Case Study
Despite Zach Miller becoming a favorite target for Cutler last season, Chicago has a
lot of answered questions remaining at the tight end position. As this week s
minicamp practices come to an end, the bears have added Tony Moeaki to their 90
man roster.
Moeaki was simply using the minicamp as an effort to try out and be noticed by
someone on the Bears coaching staff. With the bears wanting to add strength to the
position, giving Moeaki the last spot on the 90 man roster appeared to be a wise
decision.
After being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft,
Chicago will be the 5th team that Moeaki has been a part of. His most productive
season to this point in his career has been his rookie season when he accumulated
556 yards on 47 receptions. He also was able to find the end zone on three
occasions throughout his rookie season. Because of his history of injuries, Tony has
not been given much of a chance by reporters to make the Bears final 53 man roster.

Although he has never been known for his abilities as a run blocker, he may be the
most talented out of the young tight ends the bears have to choose from. His

Being from the Chicagoland area, Tony played his college years at the University of
Iowa, where he made the First Team All Big Ten in 2009. He attended high school at
Wheaton Warrenville South high school in nearby Wheaton, Illinois.
Moeaki has a total of 91 receptions which have led to over 1,200 yards. He has
scored 6 touchdowns. He has been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills,

The Law Enforcement Of A Police Officer
The purpose of law enforcement is to protect the lives and property of both the
community s citizens and people who visit and work in the community. There are
many different levels of law enforcement careers such as local, state and federal
agencies. There are also many different occupations within the law enforcement field.
One of those occupations is a policeofficer. (10 Things You Need to Consider
Before Becoming a Police Officer, Criminology Careers.com, August 2012,
Timothy Roufa, Criminology Careers Expert). To become a police officer it takes
more than just wanting to carry a gun and catch the bad guys . The hiring process
will be long. After submitting an application, each candidate must go through a
written test, a physical agility test, an oral interview or two, a background check of
nearly every aspect of his life, including driving records, drug or alcohol usage, a
thorough medical and psychological exam, and a polygraph test. Then after that, each
candidate must go through an exhausting physical and mental challenge known as
the Police Academy. If the candidates make it through the Police Academy then they
advance to on the job training known as Field Training, which is even more difficult
than the Police Academy. After all of this training and becoming a police officer, one
would have to ask themselves if the job is worth it. Police officers are put into
dangerous situations daily. After all they have to deal with drunks, the mentally

Purpose Researchers have found only 30% of employees in the United States are
actively engaged in the workplace (Gallup 2013). In 2010, data provided by the US
Bureau of Labor Statistics (as cited in Moreland, 2013) show more individuals are
voluntarily quitting their jobs. With over 70% of US workers disengaged, this topic
has arguably prompted an interest that continues to be earnestly pursued by many. As
a result, the Gallup Q12 expands the need for additional research based on their
finding of employee engagement. The purpose of this descriptive qualitative research
is to explore how employees define understands, and link engagement to productivity
within the workplace. Without a well defined rigor understanding of engagement,
employees remain unfocused, disengaged, and unproductive during working hours.
Moreland (2013) found that too many individuals pursue opportunities that are not
aligned with their experience, behavioral competencies, and education background.
This impact of disengaged productivity undermine the success of other co workers,
and decrease employee morale across organizations. By exploring these factors this
research will capture data that represent the contributing influences to improve the
levels of engagement to increase productivity.

Causes of Macbeths Downfall
Causes of Macbeths Downfall Essay
By Jordan Koorey
Shakespeare s Macbeth, based on a play written in 1605 explores the life journey of
Macbeth as he climbs the ladder of the social hierarchy. Determined to become King,
Macbeth will kill any and all that get in his way. Driven by ambition, Macbeth puts
his faith in the words and prophecies of three witches after a prediction that Macbeth
would gain the new title of Thane of Cawdor. Alongside with ambition, Lady
Macbeth, is a key instrument to Macbeths ambition to become king, continuously
pressuring him, when he fears he has gone too in his schemes for greatness. We can

into killing Duncan by using her cunning and complicated words. She makes
Macbeth think that he has to kill Duncan for his benefit. Lady Macbeth deceives

Lady Macbeth counters Macbeths arguments by saying that he needs to muster up
all of his courage, and just follow here directions. Lady Macbeth plans the murder
strategies, and influences Macbeth to go along with her strategy. Macbeth doesn t
want to kill a good king for his own ambitions, but is persuaded to do it. From Lady
Macbeth persuading him to kill Duncan, the first evil act he commits, he is drawn

Through various quotes by Lady Macbeth, it is evident to say that with each other

American College Testing has implemented PLAN, a procedure that determines
students readiness in specific advanced courses (Ewing). These exams assist
students in choosing classes they are ready for, and lower the student stress
caused by unpreparedness. Having a balanced life should be the goal for all

Students reduce their stress by finding a balance between relaxation and working.
If students are experiencing frustration because of certain classes, they are free to

Potential Energy In Basketball
We have a basketball and a superball. How high will they bounce if I drop them on
the floor? (almost as high as they were dropped from). (bounce balls at a few
different heights). Notice when I drop one on the ground, it comes back up almost as
high as where I dropped it from. When physicists talk about moving objects, we often
talk about energy. There are different kinds of energy. One kind is called kinetic
energy. Anything that is moving has kinetic energy, and the faster it is moving, the
more kinetic energy it has. Another kind of energy is potential energy. We measure
potential energy of an object as its height above the ground. Why do we say a ball
being held up has potential energy? If the ball was dropped, gravity would... Show

Has anyone ever wondered how we get the energy to run lights and all the other
electrical appliances at home? They all use the energy from electricity that comes
from power plants, but where does that energy come from? There are lots of
different kinds of power plants that use different kinds of energy, but we ll talk
about the most common. Most power plants have big turbines that spin around to
change kinetic energy into electrical energy. Right here I have a hand crank that s
connected to a light bulb. If I turn the crank, I can light up the light bulb. This is an
example of how to make electricity from kinetic energy. But the big turbines in
power plants are too big to spin up by hand. These power plants burn coal, oil, or
gas to heat up water and make a lot of steam. This steam rises and turns the big fan
blades of the turbine, so this process turns thermal energy into kinetic energy. It
doesn t stop there. Coal, oil, and gas are sometimes called fossil fuels, because they
come from the fossils of plants and animals that lived thousands of years ago.
Animals eat plants to get their energy, and the plants get their energy by absorbing
sunlight. So that energy you re using to light up your house came from the sun
thousands of years ago, and it was changed into many other types of energy to get to

Monogamy Vs Polygamy
Relationships are complicated, especially romantic ones; they involve a wide range
of emotions and expectations that need to be met or the relationship will fail. When it
comes to polygamy there are even more variables added to the equation since there
are additional partners involved in the relationship. Unlike the common belief that
polygamyis where a man has multiple wives, it is actually much more in depth where
both sexes can have other romantic partners. As long as one lets their partner know
who they are seeing the relationship is considered healthy, although there is still the
obvious possibility of jealousy occurring. Honesty is everything in polygamy, even
though individuals are allowed to be romantically involved with others,... Show more

In the United States it is illegal to be in an any of the three forms of polygamy if
one is married. In the early days Mormons were even persecuted if they were found
practicing polygamy. If individuals want to be polyamorous they must do so without
being lawfully wedded to their partners. In a society that is constantly progressing
towards giving people their rights, polygamist still struggle in being viewed as a
legitimate way of life. With the gay rights movement having so much momentum and
finally becoming legal in the United States, polygamist thought the outcome could
soon be the same for them. The one major argument against polygamy is that it is a
choice unlike the predetermination of one s sexual orientation. Critics suggest that
individuals should just be single instead of engaging in a relationship where they are
not faithful to one person. Although it is not certain where the future of polygamy is
headed, the controversial lifestyle is growing in popularity as more people explore
their sexual and emotional identities.
There is no doubt that as time goes on new generations develop different attitudes
than their parents which in turn shapes the modern world we live in. As far as
marriages go, people are no longer in such rush to get married, have children, and
start the typical family associated with adulthood. This in part could be because of
high divorce rates that many individuals have experienced either with their parents or
someone they know. Cathy Meyer
Alexander The Great Of The Russian Empire
There are few topics in history that garner more attention and study than Alexander
the Great. Almost everyone in the western world has heard of Alexander in school,
books, or in other cultural depictions. However, his effect on the history of the
world cannot be overstated. Alexander s empire had an effect on people from the
Balkans to Egypt, and from Babylon to India. His empire resolved the long standing
conflict between the Persians and Greeks, established multiple cities across the
Middle East and central Asia, had an influence on a future Indian emperor, and some
of the remnants of his empire lasted until the time of the Roman Empire. The empire
of Alexander not only had a prominent place in history, but also contributed to
advancements in military tactics of the ancient world. The rise and fall of the
Macedonian Empire, under Alexander the Great, is one of the most influential events
of history, and had long reaching effects that lasted until the time of the Roman
Empire. In order to see the origins of the empire of Alexander, it is important to
understand the previous conflicts between the Persian Empire and those on the
Balkan Peninsula, such as the Greek city states and Macedon. This conflict was the
preface behind Alexander s conquest of the Persian Empire, and his future conquests
in Egypt, Central Asia, and India. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the Greco
Persian wars lasted half a century, with multiple wars being fought between the Greek
city states and

Hedda Gabler Naturalism Essay
Hedda Gabler and John are two plays whose characters are not the average hero.
Hedda, the main character in Hedda Gabler, comes off as a detestable woman, and in
John, Jenny and Elias are equally dysfunctional in their own ways. These characters
are rich and multifaceted, a common trait in the naturalism movement. Naturalismis a
movement in theater that is essentially realism; it s goal is to depict events and
scenes as they would happen in the real world with characters who behave like real
people. It began in the late 19th century, but has prevailed through history (Styan).
Naturalism shapes the way people watch theater today, and these two plays are
excellent examples of this movement. By utilizing dialogue, stage directions,... Show

Additionally, John embodies naturalism in it s own way, by including seemingly
unimportant information in dialogue. This is another display of naturalism,
because in real life people do include information that is irrelevant to the larger
story. The characters, mostly Mertis, seem to ramble on about things that don t
always connect directly to the matter at hand. But Mertis does this in a way that is
familiar; like most real old people, she tends to get lost on a tangent. This
extraneous dialogue furthers the realistic feel of the play, but also shines light on
the deeper psychology of the characters in an almost sneaky way. For example,
when Mertis talks about the hospital she worked in, and how she ran into the
doctor and got the chance to tell him she was doing well for herself now, we see
Mertis rambling on just like any older person talking about the past. But this
dialogue also reveals Mertis insecurities and need for validation. She wanted the
doctor to know she was doing quite well (Baker). Dialogue like this is important
because it reveals the intricacies of the characters and their complex nature.
Stage directions play a huge part in both of these plays as well, specifically in how
the stage directions affect dialogue. Naturalism was actually controversial when it
was introduced due to long pauses and lulls in dialogue, which at the time were
perceived as boring. Stage directions that call for long pauses are very common in

The Importance And Roles Of Aircraft Maintenance In

Aircraft maintenance is very important for aviation industry and Aircraft are required
to be maintained after a period of calendar time or flight hours or flight cycles.
Aircraft maintenance is the inspection, repair, overhaul, modification of aircraft or

required to restore or maintain an aircraft s systems, components, and structures with
Airworthiness Directives or Service Bulletins and this is highly regulated, in order to
ensure safe and correct functioning during flight. Aircraft maintenance requirements
vary for different size and types of aircraft, experience which most aircraft need
various type of preventive maintenance every 25 hours or less of flying time, and

Anne Bradstreet And Taylor Essay
Puritans were true believers in Christ. There was little room for doubt in the faith
communities of Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor; because of this, the doubt they
began to feel after the death of multiple children in each of their families was
shocking. They expressed this doubt through poetry. The piety of Anne Bradstreet
and Edward Taylor is tested when children in their family perish, but, despite the
horrific events, they both accept God s sovereignty Bradstreet more grudgingly than
Taylor.
When Bradstreet loses her first grandchild, as described in her poem, In Memory
of My Dear Grandchild Elizabeth Bradstreet, Who Deceased August, 1665, Being
a Year and a Half Old, she is upset but not overwhelmingly so. She clearly loved
Elizabeth, but she recognizes that the child for a space was lent and that God has

Puritan belief that [a] person must not love any earthly thing too much, and even

people of the world have little understanding of God s plan for the world, so they
should not bemoan something they cannot change. They can only accept what has
been given to them, trust that God has a greater meaning for their suffering, and
continue on with their lives; this is what Bradstreet does. She recognizes that

he also demonstrates sarcasm and satire. Sarcasm was used different times
throughout the essay. For instance it says, And thus Jeff and I became Captain Tidy

Analysis Of Into The Jaws Of Death
Images, such as paintings and photographs, are intensely visually striking and evoke
strong emotions in those who view them. Into the Jaws of Death provides a perfect
example of that intensity, having been taken by Robert F. Sargent during the early
morning hours of the D Day invasion of Normandy. Even today the famous
photograph evokes strong emotional reactions in many people who view it. This
photograph served a purpose more significant than was realized at the time, to the
point of becoming a pivotal point in support for the war effort. How was this
accomplished? By conveying personal themes of heroism, patriotism, and mortality
through devices such as angles, colors, uniforms, and proxemics. The first fascinating
difference between this work and the majority of other war photographypresents itself
in a fairly obvious manner. The soldiers faces in Into the Jaws of Death are turned
away from the photo so as to make them invisible to the audience. Instead, we see
only the supplies on their backs and the camouflage on their uniforms. The effect of
this lack of eye contact is that the audience cannot connect with the people in the
photograph. The majority of other wartime photographs used iconic images of
courageous and vibrant soldiers rushing fearlessly into the glory of battle or
contained motivational quotes requesting support for the troops. Into the Jaws Of
Death does neither of these, entirely on purpose. Because we as the audience do not
have eye contact

Their variation is actually what set them apart from each other. Democratic
Republicans and Federalists had extremely diverse views on who would select the

claiming that people are constantly altering their ideas and beliefs. Thus, relying on a
group of mind changers was not going to contribute to a stable government. I am not

The Peat Extraction From The Bog
From the results presented it is a clear indicator that human activity is having a
profound effect on Monivea Bog. The peat extraction from the bog is having a
dramatic effect on the natural environment. The digitizing of the bog using GIS 10.3
was a simplistic method that visually provides how much peatis being extracted from
the Bog. The reasons behind the extraction was pointed out by Cruickshank et al,
1995, suggesting that peat extraction is part of an Irish culture which humans use the
peat as fuel and horticulture. The peat extraction evidently has an impact on the
carbon content loss, hydrochemistry, peat depth, geology and vegetation as pointed
out in the results.

From the results there is an interaction between hydrology, vegetation and depth. The
lower depths had a lack of vegetation, less surface water and high levels of
conductivity. This suggests that vegetation is unable to deal with living at low depths
on the bog and this is due to four factors. Firstly, the high conductivity suggests that
the water is toxic for the sphagnum mosses to survive. The nutrient cycle is highly
disturbed and there is no oxygen available for sphagnum mosses to grow.
It was interesting to identify that there was no open lake in the bog in 1867, it is
not known how this open lake has developed on the west side of the bog. It is
almost impossible to observe or analysis the development of open water pools
(Belyea Lancaster, 2002). However, for this study, from the analysis of the
geological profile and depths it is predicated that the pool was formed from
subsidence of drainage and peat extraction. As Zanello et al (2011) points out that
subsidence depends on how the water table is managed on the site. In Monivea
Bog the water table was lowered to dry up the peat so it can be extracted by
humans. Furthermore, Zanello et al (2011) also suggests that subsidence is driven by
bio chemical oxidation of the organic fraction in peat. The predicted subsided open
water pool in Monivea Bog due support the sphagnum mosses. However, the water
table being significantly below has caused reduced growth, desiccation and high

Character Analysis Of Dorian Gray And The Picture Of...
Dorian Gray from The Picture of Dorian Gray, and the player from Doki Doki
Literature Club are both the protagonist of their stories and share a similar
personality trait The Two Face. The Two Face is a character that expresses two
different sides to their personality one that they keep hidden and the one that they
show to others. Dorian s Two Face personality is the split of his physical body,
which does not age and allows Dorian to do what he wants in his society, and his
painting, which changes form to reflect Dorian s sinful acts; meanwhile the Player s
Two Face personality share the same body, that of the characterwho is written to
forget the strange or unnerving events that happens within the game, and the person
playing the game, who will most likely remember the events for a long time. Both
Dorian and the player get what they want without much refusal from the other
character. For instance, in The Picture of Dorian Gray, Basil, when wanting to paint
Dorian s picture without Lord Henry staying in the room, Dorian begs Basil to let
Lord Henry stay, to which Basil agrees, adding Dorian s whims are laws to
everybody, except himself (Wilde, 19). This hints at the early whims of Basil
giving in to and seeing the good side of Dorian, but it is more of Dorian wanting
Lord Henry to stay with him to influence him of his ideology of only liking things
for the beauty, not the substance, since Lord Henry gave him a bit of advice earlier in

Finally, the company can make a profit (Zeithaml et al., 2009). Therefore, satisfied
employees make satisfied customers. Service personnel satisfaction significantly
influences organizational commitment and job performance on customer satisfaction
and corporate operational performance (Ladkin, 2002; Dunlap et al., 1988; Tansuhaj

personnel satisfaction, organizational commitment and job performance is a critical
issue in service industry management. In past research on employee satisfaction,
organizational commitment and job performance, many scholars (Babin and Boles,
1998; Bernhardt et al., 2000; Van Scotter, 2000; Koys, 2003; Testa, 2001) have
validated that employees job satisfaction positively influences job performance and
organizational commitment. In studies on factors of employees job satisfaction, job
performance and organizational commitment, the service profit chain proposed by
Heskett et al.(1994) and service marketing management model indicated by Tansuhaj

marketing activities produce job satisfaction and commitment to the organization. In
addition, many studies have found close relationships between leadership, employee

The Problem Of The Subprime Crisis
Currently, we are recovering from one of the worst recessions the United States and
the world economies have ever seen. Known as The Great Recession, the period of
falling employment, spending, saving and rising interest rates, officially lasted from
December 2007 June of 2009. However, the effects were felt severely numerous
years after, and are still being resolved and learned from today. Normally, the housing
sector of the United States market leads the economy out of a recession, being one of
the few forms of spending almost exclusively domestic. Also, housing leads to a spur
of other jobs including raw material distribution, construction, contracting, and real
estate. The subprime mortgagecrisis is argued to be the cause of the Great Recession
and one of the main inhibitors of finding a solution quickly. What caused the
subprime crisis, and why was it so detrimental even on a world scale? There are
many hypotheses, some are proven through economic law and some are ideas
based off of human nature. The Subprime Crisis is known as the fall of the housing
market resulting in a record number of foreclosures and families declaring
bankruptcy. This was a direct result of banks being able to produce money too
quickly. Due to an influx of loans and high interest rates, banks were able to create
enough money for mortgage loans for people with weak credit, a subprime mortgage.
If interest rates remained at the current price and the value of the housing market
remained high,

High Renaissance art is characterized by self confident Humanism. Here in this
time period many of the daring art works were originated either because the artists
admires classical art and architecture and used art as a way to show off their
classical knowledge. Or the artwork was created for a patron who commissioned
these works to make it seem like they were more knowledgeable about the world and
its history.
The Renaissance movement also brought about much evolution such as the decline of
the feudal system and the growth of commerce, the discovery and exploration of new
continents, and the invention or application of such potentially powerful innovations
as paper, printing. Printing was a huge change during this time, now Europeans had
an opportunity to progress even more. In the 15th century the printing press founded a
way to mass produce and circulate a evolving volume of reading material. Print press

Advances in image reproduction were equally monumental, but came much later in
the course of history.
The invention and use of the printing press, was one major evolution techniques
used to help evolve. With the printing press there was a greater spread of ideas, and
artists could sell multiples of their work. Travel also increased during the High

Being A Girl Child Was By Observation
1.To be honest, the only way I understood how my behaviors should be as a girl
child was by observation. I watched TV and observed all the women and men
around me. I can say I wasn t pursued to be one way or the other. As I grow up I
wanted to wear less dresses and more shorts, do daredevil things that boys do, play
football, and basketball. I was considered a tomboy by my friends. I wanted nice
tennis shoes, not sandals. At that time, I wasn t thinking about my sexual orientationI
just wasn t interesting in play with dolls like most little girls I saw.
2.My parents and family members never influenced my beliefs about sexual
orientation. The possible reason I was never influenced one way or the other is
because we have no one relatable in our family to spark up discussion about same
sex situations. The only time I heard about anything related to LGBT is in the
church. My pastor at the time emphasized on how it was wrong to have any other
sexual behavior except heterosexual behavior.
Moving forward I can speak on me as a parent and how I influence my children.

European Colonization in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay
No Critique of European Colonization in The Tempest
Since the 1960s, several critics have found a critique of colonialism in their
respective readings of Shakespeare s The Tempest. The most radical of these
analyses takes Prospero to be a European invader of the magical but primitive land
that he comes to rule, using his superior knowledge to enslave its original inhabitants,
most notably Caliban, and forcing them to do his bidding. While the textual clues
concerning the geographic location of Prospero s island are ambiguous and vague,
there is a prominent references to the Bermoothes. We know that shortly before he
wrote his final play, Shakespeare read a contemporary travel account of the Virginia
Company s 1609 expedition to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as Native American tribes would come to distinguish between colonizers from
different nations, e.g., favoring the French over the British or vice versa, Caliban
becomes disenchanted with Trinculo as a master and proclaims that he will only
serve Stephano. For his part, like some great father protecting his children from a
European rival, Stephano rebukes Trinculo for his mistreatment of Caliban, saying
that the poor monster s my subject, and he shall not suffer indignity (III, ii., ll.36
37). All of this closely resembles some aspects of European colonialist stereotypes of
the New World s peoples and of their historical subjugation of Indians for their own
good.
If Shakespeare s play does comment upon European exploration and colonization in
the Western Hemisphere, however, The Tempest does not contain a critique of
exploitation, but, instead, an apology for it. Caliban was initially treated as an
ignorant child and only put under wraps after he attempted to force himself upon the
completely innocent Miranda. The charge of rape is made more credible in having
Miranda pass judgment upon Caliban whom she calls an Abhorr d slave (I, ii., l.352).
Unlike our current understanding of European colonialism, Prospero puts Caliban in

A Brief Note On The Chinese Civil War
This essay examines the Chinese Civil War between 1945 49, which resulted in the
victory of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) over Chiang Kai Shek and the
Kuomintang (GMD) and the founding of the People s Republic of China (PRC) in
1949. Many historians have attributed the victory of the communists to social,
political and economic reasons how this ultimately won them war, however other
reasons need to be taken into account when discussing the victory of the communists
such as the transformation of its armed forces into a conventional army. With this in
mind, however it was arguably the Japanese invasion that best explains to why the
communists eventually won the war.
It could be argued that one of main reasons that the CCP eventually ... Show more

The second approach the CCP took was the orders instructed to the army were to be
kind and understanding to the peasants, thus gaining rapport and affiliation with
them. The Red army s code of conducts included Do not damage crop and Pay fairly
for what you buy presents the impression that they are the protectors of the peasantry
class. Furthermore it shows that the CCP understood to take control over the
government of China, it was necessary to gain the majority of support from the
peasants.
In contrast, the KMT remained distant from the majority of the populace and was
never really able to establish rapport. In fact the KMT were widely known as brutal
and incompetent as the army had a reputation for being poor discipline , Derek Bryan
claims that people felt The Kuomintang armies had done nothing to change the
soliders reputation for bad behaviour indicates this . Furthermore, General Joseph
Stiwell (American wartime liaison officer at the time 1948), characterised the KMT
under Chiang Kai Shek as Greed, corruption, favouritism ... terrible waste of life .
This also reflected how foreigners shared a similar view with the Chinese people
about the KMT government. On the other hand, as noted before the CCP were
deemed as honest and efficient in its administration. Thus, many citizens were not
hesitant in switching sides because of the KMT corruptions and incompetence. The
CCP had created effective political structure and
Organic Food Saves Health
Organic food saves health?
Kip Pester, the author of the In Organic We Trust movie, suggests that people have to
use organic food, because it is healthier, and it has more nutrients. It is made in a
natural environment, and organic food is without pesticides. Organic food is
healthier food; this gives a better health, and gives better quality. Organic foods have
more nutrients. His interview and film is effective in convincing people that organic
food is better for them. His film information is very good and helpful, but in contrast,
he is not a researcher or a scientist.
Organic food is more expensive than regular food items. The farm machinery
needed to harvest organic food is more specialized, and therefore the food is more
expensive. They use the best tools and fertilization supplies. The farmers create
natural environments. Organic food is grown without pesticides. Nowadays,
people are using organic food broadly. The author gives lot information about
organic food, and how it works. Regular food is made with lot of pesticides, and it is
effect on humans. Nowadays people have cancer, more pesticides effect on IQ. 73%
people used organic food, and that is good.
The farmers of organic food have to certify, or evaluate by government organization,
USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). Organic certificationis a
certification process of producing organic food that must needed. The farmers can not
use any chemical solution, such as pesticides, and fertilizers.
Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the Uk
Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the UK
Introduction
In the UK, particularly in England and Wales, children s life chances are determined
by the economic status of the families into which they are a part of. Children from
poor households are more likely to suffer the consequences of their families
condition. They will have to endure the stigma of poverty in a profoundly lopsided
society where the socioeconomic standing of individuals is determined by their
capacity to buy. These poor children also have less access to quality educational
opportunities (Welbourne, 2012). Furthermore, children living in poverty at present
are likely to remain poor for the rest of their lives because of intergenerational cycles
of poverty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This resulted in the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (Butler Hickman, 2011, p. 133),
which was designed to encourage adoption for poor children.
The Organisation and Delivery of Child Welfare Services
Child welfare services in the UK are funded by the child benefit programme. Child
benefit has been integral to the income of families throughout the UK for more than
three decades now and it still prioritises poor children in the benefits and tax system.
A universal child benefit programme assists in the redistribution of resources from
taxation (Lewis, 2008, p. 126). Child benefit supplanted a tax allowance programme
for parents, but was changed into a payment scheme due to the fact that tax
allowances mostly give advantage to primary earners (Farthing, 2012, p. 4 5). Child
benefit is given to the primary caregiver, generally mothers.
Almost all European countries provide a universal child tax allowance or child
benefit. But the UK is starting to move away from this tradition. Child benefit is a
way of guaranteeing that the entire society is involved in the promotion of children
s wellbeing, especially those living in poverty. But the UK government has recently
reformed the child benefit scheme, away from the universal benefit model. Instead
of simply giving fewer allowances to parents the government will keep on paying the
total cost and claw back through taxation (Farthing, 2012, p. 5). The suggested claw
back benefits that are allocated and afterwards revoked
Plagerism Means More than Copying the Written Word
Essay
Plagiarism, what is it? Webster s defines plagiarism as wrongful appropriation,
purloining and publication of another author s language, thoughts, ideas, or
expressions, and the representation of them as one s own original work .
Now some would argue that in order to truly plagiarize someone else s work they
have to be a copy written author. This how ever is not true from an academic point
of view. Plagiarism covers so much more, i.e.; using unauthorized notes during a test,
copying answers from another student during a test, downloading information such as
text, computer code, artwork, or graphics from the internet and presenting it as you re
work without acknowledgment, copying from others during a work group and even ...

First thing a student can do is manager their time, by organizing their time and
sticking to the schedule they create and in itself be the most powerful tool in
avoiding plagiarism. Other things you should do are make sure you understand
exactly what plagiarism is, make sure they know what their college or university
deems plagiarism, for some might be more broad scoped than others. Also if they
don t understand how or what to cite while writing they should get help in any form
they can, most institutions have writing centers online and tutors available to assist,
all one has to do is ask.
My key take away from module 5 is that in today s technologically advance world
there are more ways than ever for a student to slip into the plagiarism trap and
honestly not know it. Reading a few other articles on plagiarism such as The
Plague of Plagiarism: Academic Plagiarism Defined by Irving Hexham,
Department of Religious Studies, University of Calgary, I actually see where a
student could still be confused as to what to cite or not to cite as there are some
scholars who believe that if you can find the same information used in more than
three places then you don t have to cite, and yet there are others who say if more
than five places you don t have to cite. Bottom line here is if a student reads and
understands their institutions guidelines on plagiarism and manages their time well,
there should never be a reason any student should fall into the plagiarism trap.
Cell Fractionation Lab Report
The information in this graph is based off of the data in Figure 1.1 but this graph is
showing the absolute value of the changes of the absorbance in each cell fraction over
a fourteen minute time interval. Since DCIP directly indicates the amount of
mitochondria present, the greater the decrease of DCIP absorbance, the greater the
number mitochondria are present in the cell fraction.
The goal from experiment one was to figure out which cell fractionations have the
highest amount of mitochondria present. To go about accomplishing this goal we
fractionated the cell components through a process of differential centrifugation
which separates structures by size and density (McAllister Leicht p.42). The first
pellet (P1) was centrifuged at 600 x g for 2 minutes and pulled down mostly ... Show

The second pellet (P2) was centrifuged for 5 minutes at 2000 x g. The third pellet
(P3) was centrifuged at 21,000 x g for 15 minutes. The supernatant from the third
pellet formed the third supernatant (S3). After obtaining P1, P2, P3, and S3, the
goal of part 2 of experiment 1 was to figure out which cell fraction has the highest
amount of mitochondria. DCIP, which is an electron acceptor, was added to P1,
P2, P3, and S3 to test for SDH, a biochemical marker for the presence of functional
mitochondria (McAllister Leicht p.71). DCIP changed from blue to colorless when
electrons are being reduced, indicating a high SDH activity level and a large
presence of mitochondria. The amount of color change is proportional to the amount
of SDH enzyme and the amount of mitochondria in a cell fraction (McAllister Leicht
p.71). Blank cuvettes containing assay buffer, sodium azide, and a
Essay about Jimi Hendrix
On November 27, 1942, in Seattle, Washington a later to be known legend was
born as James Marshall. This future guitar master went by the name of Jimi, Jimi
Hendrix. His childhood was not very fortunate, however, he did indulge himself in
one particular way: Jimi loved to play the guitar. Jimi could never afford to take
lessons so he taught himself. At first he played an old acoustic guitar, and later a
cheap Silvertone electric. Both of these guitarswere both strung for a lefty on a right
handed guitar, one of the defining Hendrixtraits. Jimi would have preferred to play a
guitar that was made for lefty s but his parents wouldn t pay the extra money because
they were extremely poor.
As a teenager, young Jimi listened to typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Jimi and Chandler had decided upon a trio with Hendrix on guitar and vocals, Mitch
Mitchell on drums, and Noel Redding on bass.
The first album was recorded and released with the name of, Are You Experienced?
on May 12, 1967 in England. After its initial success there, the album was released
on August 26, 1967 in the United States. Of the single ?Hey Joe,? which was the
first song recorded for Are You Experienced?, Hendrix said: ?It?s a commercial
record,. but everyone found that better for the first time. It?s just a phase, it?s only a
very small part of us.?
Another Hendrix tune from Are You Experienced? was ?Purple Haze.? Many
people have the conception that the song Purple Haze is about drugs. Anyone who
thinks that Purple Haze is about drugs is entirely wrong. Purple Haze was written
by Jimi shortly after a dream he had. In the dream, Jimi was walking under the sea,
surrounded by purple haze. He became lost and Jesus saved him . The song was
originally called ?Purple Haze Jesus saves.? Purple Haze was described as ?the
band?s break through single in America? This song was the one that had really
sparked Hendrix s album sales. After Purple Haze, Hendrix was known as a rock star,
and people demanded to hear more.
Jimi s second album entitled Axis: Bold as Love was an immediate success. This
album expressed the way Jimi felt about being an Indian
A Doll s House Literary Analysis
In life they re will always be people who will deceive you in a variety of ways and
their motives will try to justify those actions. In A Doll s House, Nora deceived
Helmer in result of her selfishness and immaturity. It began with small, innocent,
white lies about her consumption of macaroons into the reader s realization that
Nora had lied to Helmer about the fact that she had borrowed money and more
specifically that she had forged her way into borrowing money from Krogstad.
Although, Nora did save Helmer from dying, it didn t make it right for Nora to keep
this from him and almost costing Helmer his job.
Helmer did the best he could for his family, for he worked long hours and took care of
Nora and the children the best way he saw fit. ... Show more content on

He didn t question it, rather he trusted his wife and didn t think for a second she had
done something imprudent to gather the money. In A Doll s House, we see how
Helmer avoids being in debt with anyone since he thinks there shouldn t be a need
with the ammount of money he earns from his hard worked salary. Nora thought
otherwise, when Helmer was ill her primary doing was to go directly to a person
and borrow money for both Helmer s treatment, and her luxurious trip even if she
knew her husband was going to be against it all. It was already bad enough that
Nora had gone against her husband s wishes, yet she raised the bar by forging her
way through the process of recieving a loan. Nora signed Krogstad s loan contract,
only for him to later find out that she had forged her father s signature so that she d
be able to borrow the money. Apart from that, Nora not only kept this a secret from
Helmer, but spent recklessly on objects that weren t all that needed knowing that she
was in debt with Krogstad. Nora kept all this from Helmer in fear of his
abandonment. However, it shouldn t have been that way, since Helmer was always
honest to Nora and that same honesty was expected in return.
Overall, Nora s motives for her deceptions against Helmer in A Dolls house,
shouldn t be justified since she was supposed to come clean handed to Helmer about
her problems. For when someone is married, the spouse s problem involves the other
one too. This wasn t something the author did unintentionally, for he portrayed how a
small lie can escalate into a huge dilemma, and even lead to a marriage
A Clean Well-Lighted Place Setting
The timeless story, A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway, has a
descriptive setting and plausible characters. In this story, the reader can also
ground herself and feel that she is truly a part of what is occurring. If the story
were to lose its believability, its connection with the reader would be severed. This
story allows the reader to grasp the main concepts that Hemingway is trying to
convey, while also leaving her to expand upon it in great detail through her own
experiences, imagination, and research. The setting used in A Clean, Well Lighted
Place adds clarity to every aspect of the story. There is a strong, seamless connection
between the story s main ideas and its setting. The setting delivers a contrast that is
essential for the story. Each character resembles the development of man s morality
as they are each placed in varying degrees of shadow throughout the story. With a
realistic setting tying into the story, the reader can effortlessly place herself into the
story and find something that relates to her through the experiences of the characters.
Ultimately, if the setting were to be unclear or seem unrealistic, then this story loses
its power over the reader. The reader should be able to connect with the story, A
Clean, Well Lighted Place, through its characters. For this to... Show more content on

A Clean, Well Lighted Place masterfully arranges its setting, and vividly depicts its
characters, so that the message leaves an impact on the reader. Hemingway expertly
does this while leaving a much deeper meaning hidden throughout the story. This
story would lose all significance if its setting, or characters were to be removed or
distorted in some way. These two elements are strongly dependent upon each other to
create the most natural integration between the reader s imagination and the fictional
environment of the

Lord Of The Flies Allegory Essay. Calaméo - THE LORD OF THE FLIES CRITICAL ESSAY

  • 1. Lord Of The Flies Allegory Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Lord of the Flies Allegory" can be both challenging and intellectually stimulating. The task requires a deep understanding of William Golding's classic novel, "Lord of the Flies," and an ability to analyze its allegorical elements. To begin with, one needs to delve into the intricate symbolism embedded in the narrative. This involves deciphering the allegorical representations of characters, events, and settings, and grasping their broader implications. Connecting these symbols to real-world themes or historical events adds another layer of complexity to the essay. Moreover, a comprehensive exploration of the characters and their evolving dynamics is crucial. Understanding how the boys' behavior reflects broader societal issues requires a keen eye for detail and a thoughtful analysis of their interactions. The allegorical significance of characters like Piggy, Ralph, and Jack must be carefully examined, considering their roles as symbols in the broader context of the story. Furthermore, the essay should address the novel's overarching themes, such as the inherent human capacity for savagery, the fragility of civilization, and the consequences of unchecked power. Drawing connections between these themes and the allegorical elements adds depth to the analysis but demands a nuanced and well-supported argument. In terms of writing style, clarity and coherence are paramount. Effectively conveying complex ideas while maintaining a logical flow can be a daunting task. Balancing the exploration of allegorical elements with a clear thesis statement and well-structured paragraphs requires a refined writing skill. In conclusion, composing an essay on the allegorical aspects of "Lord of the Flies" demands a combination of literary analysis, critical thinking, and effective communication. The complexity of the task lies in unraveling the layers of symbolism, understanding the broader implications, and presenting a cohesive argument that captures the essence of the allegory. The world is such a duality where the good and bad things are going on the same time. Some people are experiencing happinesses, some people are suffering from difficulties; the world is just not fit for everyone. In the book A Tale of Two Cities, oppression is fully put on the poor, while the happiness is enjoyed by the rich. The poor have endured the endless difficulties until all of their anger reached a peak and a revolutionary war broke out. While the poor began their revenge, the rich were still enjoying their abuse of powers. The poor couldn t deal with these injustices which made their hearts oppressed and led them to the vengeful revolution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the injustices, people demanded a law to equalize the power, which was called the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen (August 26, 1789). The law states: men are equal, and taxation should be determined based on ability to pay.(Burch). The enactment of the law seemed logic in this case: it was difficult to let the poor change their lifestyle without other supports. And the rich was able to afford the taxes, but they didn t spend efforts on helping others, and lack of empathy on other caused them got a vengeful feedback from the poor. In the book TOTC, the author described the vengeful people who were vexed by the threatens from the government and rushed into the Bastille looking for gunpowder by using some deep metaphors. With a roar that sounded as if all breath in France had been shaped into the detested word, the living sea rose, wave on wave, depth on depth, and overflowed the city to that point. (Dickens, 207). Roar means the anger from oppressed citizens which shows the strength of their hatred. The author described the crowd as a risen sea which rushed into the Bastille like an uncontrollable tide. The depth of the sea is unpredictable, there were feelings of hatred from everywhere; the rich could never know how many people they have offended and how much hatred they have to deserve. All people have rights to receive equality, if

They all use the energy from electricity that comes from power plants, but where does that energy come from? There are lots of different kinds of power plants that use different kinds of energy, but we ll talk about the most common. Most power plants have big turbines that spin around to change kinetic energy into electrical energy. Right here I have a hand crank that s connected to a light bulb. If I turn the crank, I can light up the light bulb. This is an example of how to make electricity from kinetic energy. But the big turbines in power plants are too big to spin up by hand. These power plants burn coal, oil, or gas to heat up water and make a lot of steam. This steam rises and turns the big fan blades of the turbine, so this process turns thermal energy into kinetic energy. It doesn t stop there. Coal, oil, and gas are sometimes called fossil fuels, because they come from the fossils of plants and animals that lived thousands of years ago. Animals eat plants to get their energy, and the plants get their energy by absorbing sunlight. So that energy you re using to light up your house came from the sun thousands of years ago, and it was changed into many other types of energy to get to your

Although it is not certain where the future of polygamy is headed, the controversial lifestyle is growing in popularity as more people explore their sexual and emotional identities. There is no doubt that as time goes on new generations develop different attitudes than their parents which in turn shapes the modern world we live in. As far as marriages go, people are no longer in such rush to get married, have children, and start the typical family associated with adulthood. Almost everyone in the western world has heard of Alexander in school, books, or in other cultural depictions. However, his effect on the history of the world cannot be overstated. Alexander s empire had an effect on people from the Balkans to Egypt, and from Babylon to India. His empire resolved the long standing conflict between the Persians and Greeks, established multiple cities across the Middle East and central Asia, had an influence on a future Indian emperor, and some of the remnants of his empire lasted until the time of the Roman Empire. The empire of Alexander not only had a prominent place in history, but also contributed to advancements in military tactics of the ancient world. The rise and fall of the Macedonian Empire, under Alexander the Great, is one of the most influential events of history, and had long reaching effects that lasted until the time of the Roman Empire. In order to see the origins of the empire of Alexander, it is important to understand the previous conflicts between the Persian Empire and those on the Balkan Peninsula, such as the Greek city states and Macedon. This conflict was the preface behind Alexander s conquest of the Persian Empire, and his future conquests in Egypt, Central Asia, and India. Hedda, the main character in Hedda Gabler, comes off as a detestable woman, and in John, Jenny and Elias are equally dysfunctional in their own ways. These characters are rich and multifaceted, a common trait in the naturalism movement. Naturalismis a movement in theater that is essentially realism; it s goal is to depict events and scenes as they would happen in the real world with characters who behave like real people. It began in the late 19th century, but has prevailed through history (Styan). Naturalism shapes the way people watch theater today, and these two plays are excellent examples of this movement. By utilizing dialogue, stage directions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, John embodies naturalism in it s own way, by including seemingly unimportant information in dialogue. This is another display of naturalism, because in real life people do include information that is irrelevant to the larger story. The characters, mostly Mertis, seem to ramble on about things that don t always connect directly to the matter at hand. But Mertis does this in a way that is familiar; like most real old people, she tends to get lost on a tangent. This extraneous dialogue furthers the realistic feel of the play, but also shines light on the deeper psychology of the characters in an almost sneaky way. For example, when Mertis talks about the hospital she worked in, and how she ran into the doctor and got the chance to tell him she was doing well for herself now, we see Mertis rambling on just like any older person talking about the past. But this dialogue also reveals Mertis insecurities and need for validation. She wanted the doctor to know she was doing quite well (Baker). Dialogue like this is important because it reveals the intricacies of the characters and their complex nature. Stage directions play a huge part in both of these plays as well, specifically in how the stage directions affect dialogue. Naturalism was actually controversial when it was introduced due to long pauses and lulls in dialogue, which at the time were perceived as boring. Stage directions that call for long pauses are very common in Hedda Gabler and

There was little room for doubt in the faith communities of Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor; because of this, the doubt they began to feel after the death of multiple children in each of their families was shocking. They expressed this doubt through poetry. The piety of Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor is tested when children in their family perish, but, despite the horrific events, they both accept God s sovereignty Bradstreet more grudgingly than Taylor. When Bradstreet loses her first grandchild, as described in her poem, In Memory of My Dear Grandchild Elizabeth Bradstreet, Who Deceased August, 1665, Being a Year and a Half Old, she is upset but not overwhelmingly so. Into the Jaws of Death provides a perfect example of that intensity, having been taken by Robert F. Sargent during the early morning hours of the D Day invasion of Normandy. Even today the famous photograph evokes strong emotional reactions in many people who view it. This photograph served a purpose more significant than was realized at the time, to the point of becoming a pivotal point in support for the war effort. How was this accomplished? By conveying personal themes of heroism, patriotism, and mortality through devices such as angles, colors, uniforms, and proxemics. The first fascinating difference between this work and the majority of other war photographypresents itself in a fairly obvious manner. The soldiers faces in Into the Jaws of Death are turned away from the photo so as to make them invisible to the audience. Instead, we see only the supplies on their backs and the camouflage on their uniforms. The effect of this lack of eye contact is that the audience cannot connect with the people in the photograph. The majority of other wartime photographs used iconic images of courageous and vibrant soldiers rushing fearlessly into the glory of battle or contained motivational quotes requesting support for the troops. Into the Jaws Of Death does neither of these, entirely on purpose. Because we as the audience do not have eye contact

The lower depths had a lack of vegetation, less surface water and high levels of conductivity. This suggests that vegetation is unable to deal with living at low depths on the bog and this is due to four factors. Firstly, the high conductivity suggests that the water is toxic for the sphagnum mosses to survive. The nutrient cycle is highly disturbed and there is no oxygen available for sphagnum mosses to grow. It was interesting to identify that there was no open lake in the bog in 1867, it is not known how this open lake has developed on the west side of the bog. It is almost impossible to observe or analysis the development of open water pools (Belyea Lancaster, 2002). However, for this study, from the analysis of the geological profile and depths it is predicated that the pool was formed from subsidence of drainage and peat extraction. As Zanello et al (2011) points out that subsidence depends on how the water table is managed on the site. In Monivea Bog the water table was lowered to dry up the peat so it can be extracted by humans. Dorian Gray from The Picture of Dorian Gray, and the player from Doki Doki Literature Club are both the protagonist of their stories and share a similar personality trait The Two Face. The Two Face is a character that expresses two different sides to their personality one that they keep hidden and the one that they show to others. Dorian s Two Face personality is the split of his physical body, which does not age and allows Dorian to do what he wants in his society, and his painting, which changes form to reflect Dorian s sinful acts; meanwhile the Player s Two Face personality share the same body, that of the characterwho is written to forget the strange or unnerving events that happens within the game, and the person playing the game, who will most likely remember the events for a long time. Both Dorian and the player get what they want without much refusal from the other character. For instance, in The Picture of Dorian Gray, Basil, when wanting to paint Dorian s picture without Lord Henry staying in the room, Dorian begs Basil to let Lord Henry stay, to which Basil agrees, adding Dorian s whims are laws to everybody, except himself (Wilde, 19). This hints at the early whims of Basil giving in to and seeing the good side of Dorian, but it is more of Dorian wanting Lord Henry to stay with him to influence him of his ideology of only liking things for the beauty, not the substance, since Lord Henry gave him a bit of advice earlier in the confrontation of the three men;

However, the effects were felt severely numerous years after, and are still being resolved and learned from today. Normally, the housing sector of the United States market leads the economy out of a recession, being one of the few forms of spending almost exclusively domestic. Also, housing leads to a spur of other jobs including raw material distribution, construction, contracting, and real estate. The subprime mortgagecrisis is argued to be the cause of the Great Recession and one of the main inhibitors of finding a solution quickly. What caused the subprime crisis, and why was it so detrimental even on a world scale? There are many hypotheses, some are proven through economic law and some are ideas based off of human nature. The Subprime Crisis is known as the fall of the housing market resulting in a record number of foreclosures and families declaring bankruptcy. This was a direct result of banks being able to produce money too quickly. Due to an influx of loans and high interest rates, banks were able to create enough money for mortgage loans for people with weak credit, a subprime mortgage. If interest rates remained at the current price and the value of the housing market remained high,

  • 40. Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the Uk Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the UK Introduction In the UK, particularly in England and Wales, children s life chances are determined by the economic status of the families into which they are a part of. Children from poor households are more likely to suffer the consequences of their families condition. They will have to endure the stigma of poverty in a profoundly lopsided society where the socioeconomic standing of individuals is determined by their capacity to buy. These poor children also have less access to quality educational opportunities (Welbourne, 2012). Furthermore, children living in poverty at present are likely to remain poor for the rest of their lives because of intergenerational cycles of poverty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This resulted in the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (Butler Hickman, 2011, p. 133), which was designed to encourage adoption for poor children. The Organisation and Delivery of Child Welfare Services Child welfare services in the UK are funded by the child benefit programme. Child benefit has been integral to the income of families throughout the UK for more than three decades now and it still prioritises poor children in the benefits and tax system. A universal child benefit programme assists in the redistribution of resources from taxation (Lewis, 2008, p. 126). Child benefit supplanted a tax allowance programme for parents, but was changed into a payment scheme due to the fact that tax allowances mostly give advantage to primary earners (Farthing, 2012, p. 4 5). Child benefit is given to the primary caregiver, generally mothers. Almost all European countries provide a universal child tax allowance or child benefit. But the UK is starting to move away from this tradition. Child benefit is a way of guaranteeing that the entire society is involved in the promotion of children s wellbeing, especially those living in poverty. But the UK government has recently reformed the child benefit scheme, away from the universal benefit model. Instead of simply giving fewer allowances to parents the government will keep on paying the total cost and claw back through taxation (Farthing, 2012, p. 5). The suggested claw back benefits that are allocated and afterwards revoked
  • 41. Plagerism Means More than Copying the Written Word Essay Plagiarism, what is it? Webster s defines plagiarism as wrongful appropriation, purloining and publication of another author s language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions, and the representation of them as one s own original work . Now some would argue that in order to truly plagiarize someone else s work they have to be a copy written author. This how ever is not true from an academic point of view. Plagiarism covers so much more, i.e.; using unauthorized notes during a test, copying answers from another student during a test, downloading information such as text, computer code, artwork, or graphics from the internet and presenting it as you re work without acknowledgment, copying from others during a work group and even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First thing a student can do is manager their time, by organizing their time and sticking to the schedule they create and in itself be the most powerful tool in avoiding plagiarism. Other things you should do are make sure you understand exactly what plagiarism is, make sure they know what their college or university deems plagiarism, for some might be more broad scoped than others. Also if they don t understand how or what to cite while writing they should get help in any form they can, most institutions have writing centers online and tutors available to assist, all one has to do is ask. My key take away from module 5 is that in today s technologically advance world there are more ways than ever for a student to slip into the plagiarism trap and honestly not know it. Reading a few other articles on plagiarism such as The Plague of Plagiarism: Academic Plagiarism Defined by Irving Hexham, Department of Religious Studies, University of Calgary, I actually see where a student could still be confused as to what to cite or not to cite as there are some scholars who believe that if you can find the same information used in more than three places then you don t have to cite, and yet there are others who say if more than five places you don t have to cite. Bottom line here is if a student reads and understands their institutions guidelines on plagiarism and manages their time well, there should never be a reason any student should fall into the plagiarism trap.

Cell Fractionation Lab Report The information in this graph is based off of the data in Figure 1.1 but this graph is showing the absolute value of the changes of the absorbance in each cell fraction over a fourteen minute time interval. Since DCIP directly indicates the amount of mitochondria present, the greater the decrease of DCIP absorbance, the greater the number mitochondria are present in the cell fraction. The goal from experiment one was to figure out which cell fractionations have the highest amount of mitochondria present. To go about accomplishing this goal we fractionated the cell components through a process of differential centrifugation which separates structures by size and density (McAllister Leicht p.42). The first pellet (P1) was centrifuged at 600 x g for 2 minutes and pulled down mostly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second pellet (P2) was centrifuged for 5 minutes at 2000 x g. The third pellet (P3) was centrifuged at 21,000 x g for 15 minutes. The supernatant from the third pellet formed the third supernatant (S3). After obtaining P1, P2, P3, and S3, the goal of part 2 of experiment 1 was to figure out which cell fraction has the highest amount of mitochondria. DCIP, which is an electron acceptor, was added to P1, P2, P3, and S3 to test for SDH, a biochemical marker for the presence of functional mitochondria (McAllister Leicht p.71). DCIP changed from blue to colorless when electrons are being reduced, indicating a high SDH activity level and a large presence of mitochondria. The amount of color change is proportional to the amount of SDH enzyme and the amount of mitochondria in a cell fraction (McAllister Leicht p.71). His childhood was not very fortunate, however, he did indulge himself in one particular way: Jimi loved to play the guitar. Jimi could never afford to take lessons so he taught himself. At first he played an old acoustic guitar, and later a cheap Silvertone electric. Both of these guitarswere both strung for a lefty on a right handed guitar, one of the defining Hendrixtraits. Jimi would have preferred to play a guitar that was made for lefty s but his parents wouldn t pay the extra money because they were extremely poor. As a teenager, young Jimi listened to typical ... It?s just a phase, it?s only a very small part of us.? Another Hendrix tune from Are You Experienced? was ?Purple Haze.? Many people have the conception that the song Purple Haze is about drugs. Anyone who thinks that Purple Haze is about drugs is entirely wrong. Purple Haze was written by Jimi shortly after a dream he had. In the dream, Jimi was walking under the sea, surrounded by purple haze. He became lost and Jesus saved him . The song was originally called ?Purple Haze Jesus saves.? Purple Haze was described as ?the band?s break through single in America? This song was the one that had really sparked Hendrix s album sales. After Purple Haze, Hendrix was known as a rock star, and people demanded to hear more. Jimi s second album entitled Axis: Bold as Love was an immediate success. This album expressed the way Jimi felt about being an Indian

In A Doll s House, Nora deceived Helmer in result of her selfishness and immaturity. It began with small, innocent, white lies about her consumption of macaroons into the reader s realization that Nora had lied to Helmer about the fact that she had borrowed money and more specifically that she had forged her way into borrowing money from Krogstad. Although, Nora did save Helmer from dying, it didn t make it right for Nora to keep this from him and almost costing Helmer his job. Helmer did the best he could for his family, for he worked long hours and took care of Nora and the children the best way he saw fit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He didn t question it, rather he trusted his wife and didn t think for a second she had done something imprudent to gather the money. In A Doll s House, we see how Helmer avoids being in debt with anyone since he thinks there shouldn t be a need with the ammount of money he earns from his hard worked salary. Nora thought otherwise, when Helmer was ill her primary doing was to go directly to a person and borrow money for both Helmer s treatment, and her luxurious trip even if she knew her husband was going to be against it all. It was already bad enough that Nora had gone against her husband s wishes, yet she raised the bar by forging her way through the process of recieving a loan. Nora signed Krogstad s loan contract, only for him to later find out that she had forged her father s signature so that she d be able to borrow the money. Apart from that, Nora not only kept this a secret from Helmer, but spent recklessly on objects that weren t all that needed knowing that she was in debt with Krogstad. Nora kept all this from Helmer in fear of his abandonment. However, it shouldn t have been that way, since Helmer was always honest to Nora and that same honesty was expected in return. Overall, Nora s motives for her deceptions against Helmer in A Dolls house, shouldn t be justified since she was supposed to come clean handed to Helmer about her problems. For when someone is married, the spouse s problem involves the other one too. This wasn t something the author did unintentionally, for he portrayed how a small lie can escalate into a huge dilemma, and even lead to a marriage

In this story, the reader can also ground herself and feel that she is truly a part of what is occurring. If the story were to lose its believability, its connection with the reader would be severed. The setting used in A Clean, Well Lighted Place adds clarity to every aspect of the story. There is a strong, seamless connection between the story s main ideas and its setting. The setting delivers a contrast that is essential for the story. Each character resembles the development of man s morality as they are each placed in varying degrees of shadow throughout the story. With a realistic setting tying into the story, the reader can effortlessly place herself into the story and find something that relates to her through the experiences of the characters.
