Essay Gender Inequality
Crafting an essay on the topic of gender inequality can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires
a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding this pervasive issue. Tackling such a
sensitive and multifaceted subject demands a careful balance between empathy and objectivity.
The writer must navigate through a myriad of historical, sociological, and cultural factors that
contribute to gender disparities.
Researching and gathering relevant data to substantiate arguments can be time-consuming,
considering the vast array of literature on the topic. Analyzing the ever-evolving landscape of
gender dynamics adds an additional layer of complexity. Addressing the intersections of gender
with other forms of discrimination, such as race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, further
intensifies the challenge.
Moreover, conveying the significance of the subject matter while maintaining a tone that
resonates with a diverse audience requires a nuanced approach. Striking the right balance
between academic rigor and accessibility is essential to ensure the essay is both informative and
engaging.
In addition, the emotional aspect of gender inequality can be demanding for the writer. Delving
into personal narratives and experiences of individuals affected by gender disparities necessitates
a sensitive and empathetic approach. It requires the ability to capture the human element without
overshadowing the broader societal implications.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on gender inequality can also be a rewarding
experience. It provides an opportunity to contribute to an ongoing dialogue, fostering awareness
and understanding. It allows the writer to explore potential solutions and advocate for positive
change.
In conclusion, navigating the intricate landscape of gender inequality in an essay demands a
comprehensive understanding of the subject, adept research skills, and a delicate approach to
address the emotional nuances involved. However, the potential impact of shedding light on this
critical issue makes the effort worthwhile.

Why Freight Brokers Need Formal Training
Why Freight Brokers Need Formal Training
Freight brokers are the logistical key between shippers and carriers. Being a freight
broker is a rewarding, but challenging career. However, you need a lot of skills and
knowledge in order to become a successful transportation broker. Keep reading to
learn why freight brokers need formal training.
Freight Brokerage 101
According to Entrepreneur magazine, there are legal requirements for anyone who
starts a brokerage business. For example, all new freight brokers must register with
the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This involves filing
forms, paying fees, designating legal agents and getting a $75,000 bond or trust fund.
In addition to this, a small business owner will need to obtain a local business license
and a state operating permit. A training program will help the freight broker
understand these complex legal requirements. Keep in mind that any mistakes on
these permits could result in legal problems down the road.
Second, freight brokers must have financial training and management skills. For
example, the bond or trust fund must be established as part of the permit process.
The purpose of this is to prove that the freight broker is responsible and that they
have access to money in order to pay any claims. However, freight brokers who don t
understand finances will have a hard time convincing clients, the bonding company
and even their own bank that they are competent. Freight broker training will
Langston Hughes and Jesse B. Simple
Lansgton Hughes and Jesse B. Semple
In the early 1940s an African American writer by the name of Langston Hughes,
who flourished during the Harlem Renaissance in New York, had established a
character in his short story writings named Jesse B. Semple. Through these short
stories he used this character to represent the black man of his times. However the
question remains, is Jesse B. Semple an accurate representation of the black man of
1940s? This question can best be answered by looking at the conditions of society
during that time period, what the mind set of the black man in that era and
comparing it to the representation that Hughes created with Jesse B. Semple.

His characteristics were that he had little formal education, but he had a lot of
common sense and could see the truth in many situations. In many ways Langston
Hughes used Semple and his stories to project the voice of all the black men of
that time. Semple touched on issues such as racism, interracial marriages and any
other important issues that showed what it meant to be black during that period.
Hughes took every issue that he felt was necessary in the accurate representation of
the Negro man, and projected through the life of Semple. Hughes also took the
name Semple and often called him, Simple to emphasize how simple his life
seemed at a glance, but in fact it was not simple at all. The events Jesse B. Semple
went through in his stories and his opinions and views of what was going on in the
world showed a certain irony that the society of that time had for them. With the
stories of Jesse B. Semple and his, simple life, he felt he had captured the mindset of
every black man of the 1940s, because he felt most black men in 1940s were bound
to the same characteristics which Semple had.
Now fully understanding the life and inspirations of Langston Hughes, the society
and mind set of the black man in the 1940s, and the representation that Jesse B.
Semple held for the black men of that time, we can answer the question: Is Jesse B.
Semple an accurate representation of the black man of the 1940s? When

Michael Oher
Did you know that before he was a professional football player Michael Oher had a
very unique, underprivileged early life, and was born into a terrible circumstance?
He says, It s true that we can t help the circumstances we re born into and some of
us start out in a much tougher place than other people. But just because we started

Unfortunately, his father was murdered in prison so he could not overcome that

made him happy and treated him like real family. Biography.com says, The young
boy was finally taken in by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy when he was 16, and the
Tuohys became Oher s legal guardians when he was 17 . In his junior year of high
school, Oher began to excel in football. By the beginning of his senior year, Oher
was the starting left tackle on the varsity football team. He quickly became a top
football prospect in the state of Tennessee, which led to multiple scholarship offers
from Division 1 schools. This means that when he was taken in by Sean and Leigh
Anne Tuohy and they became his legal guardians he began to excel at school and
football. His mother was taken into a rehabilitation center, but this was an
improvement since at least Michael was able to see her sometimes. His other
siblings were all taken to foster care. It s amazing that while he had all of these
obstacles he still overcame them with a determined attitude and the help of some
special people.
Michael had many people that supported him. Those people include the Tuohy s,

Thornbury Castle Essay
Thornbury Castle
The first part of the assignment concerns the characteristics of Thornbury Castle, and
in particular its defensive and palace like features.
Having visited the site, in my opinion Thornbury Castle displays both defensive and
luxurious, palace like features. The Castle has the beginning of a ditch which could
be argued as being a moat. Crennelations, machicolations, gun/arrow loops and
portcullis grooves are all strong defensive features included in the building of
Thornbury Castle. Arguably, the most defensive feature of Thornbury Castle is the
evidence of a barracks. Palace and luxurious features include large windows,
beautifully decorated terracotta chimneys and large ... Show more content on

These can be seen at Thornbury Castle. The so called Tudor Palace was therefore
more of a symbol of wealth as opposed to a necessary means of defence. Despite the
trend towards luxurious country houses, Tudor palaces still included the defensive
features noted above at Thornbury Castle.
At the time that Thornbury Castle was being built, other buildings were not that
dissimilar, in the sense that again they display both palace like and defensive
features. Many of the buildings have crennelations which are more of a decorative
feature. Most of the buildings are of similar design to Thornbury Castle but not one
of them has included in their design arrow slits or a barracks, but Thornbury does.
Hampton Court Palace is almost identical to Thornbury Castle. One feature found in
both castles are terracotta tiled chimneys. Clay/terracotta tiled chimneys were
popular and expensive in Tudor times and are decorative features of Tudor palaces.
Examples of terracotta tiled chimneys can also be seen at Richmond Palace.
Wencestor Hollar is the most luxurious and palace like of the buildings from this
era. It is taken much from an Eastern theme with large tear drop towers. Despite
differences of detail in all of these castles, Thornbury displays many

A Trick of the Mind Every story has a protagonist and antagonist, often thinking of
them as two different people with either similar or coinciding personalities and
traits, the battle between good and evil. However, the protagonist and antagonist
could also be the same person. Everyone always has different emotions we all have
our own, dark side, or for some, their own alter ego. This idea of a dark side, is a trait
which strongly resonates in Edgar Allan Poe s protagonist William Wilson in his
short story William Wilson. William creates a visual alter ego of himself. William
Wilson s alter ego, is a trick on his mind, with a lack of parental support, which is
created by the need for control, and finally the insecurity within his own self.
William Wilson s lack of parental support causes his poor mental health. He
introduces himself by stating his personality; I wanted people always to do things
my way; I acted like a wild fool; I let my desires control me. (Poe 6). William, even
from a young age, is born with a controlling attitude, to everyone around him, even
his parents. He also despise his parents, considers them as weak and unhelpful, My
father and mother, weak in body and mind, could do little to hold me back. (7). He
also dominates his parents. We also see his parents are weak where he is strong,
asserting his dominance, When their efforts failed, of course my will grew stronger

What I Knew Being an Animal Cruelty Investigator has been something that has
interested me for a long time since I came across the show Animal Cops. I know a
few things about this career. First, I know that it can be at times a very dangerous
job not just because of the mistreated animals, but because of the crazy people too.
From encountering an abused animal that only knows a life of punishment and
horrible training they can be skittish and scared causing them to lash out at any point.
The humans on the other hand who have hurt these animals are bad people and
deserve time in jail, which they can t accept causing them to also lash out at any point
just like the animals may. I also know that it involves a lot of patience, staying calm
and decent communication skills. When on the job, there is gonna be many sad
sights of abused pets and not every one of them will make it out alive in the end
and one working has to be able to control their emotions when it comes down to the
sadness of it all. Also, they have to be able to talk to ... Show more content on

The Perception Of The Human Sciences
Each of us are different in many ways and that fact cannot possible be disputed by
anyone who has any back ground in the human sciences, as it has been
scientifically proven that we all have unique finger prints, DNA, hair, looks,
behavior and facial expressions and the combination of these things make us
unique personality types so to speak. We also function from two different
perspectives and we need to understand how each one of us functions. We each like
to think that we are special (which we are) and in that portrayal system, we mostly
portray what we perceive we want people to think about us. On the other side of
the coin we have a reality in what we truly believe about ourselves and the way we
feel inwardly. Many of us become disillusioned with our true inner picture, simple
because of a misunderstanding of our personal purpose in life. The fact that we
allow this dissatisfaction to creep into our lives, we create an inner insecurity within
ourselves and we then start looking at others or alternatively we start behaving like
others, which is completely outside our true personality, thereby attempting to look
different, behave different, think different, dress different and when looking at our
big picture, become dissatisfied with our true personality, allowing society to name
us as a personality type which is definitely going to influence our level to be
successful in life. Society has made us believe that we need to conform to a standard
of behavior, which then

Drug Relapse Analysis
In 2005, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) conducted a meta analysis on
39 adult drug courts around the country, to assess whether drug courts were effective
at reducing recidivism and substance abuse relapse among drug court participants
(Franco, 2011). The study found a statistically significant recidivismreduction among
drug dependent participants than comparison groups. GAO s study also found that
among the drug court participants, program graduates had lower post program
recidivism than dropouts did. Furthermore, drug court programs using drug test
results report that the participants had lower drug relapse rates than comparison
groups. In spite of that, the GAO s study noted that self reported drug use should be

Drug treatment courts represent the nation s efforts to design an alternative method
of endorsing treatment and community supervision. Despite the inconsistencies of
drug court evaluations, support for drug treatment courts for drug dependent
offenders has been widespread (Stinchcomb, 2010). In order to assess whether drug
courts are effective, drug court evaluations must explore the political and
organizational contexts within drug court treatment (Stinchcomb, 2010). Many drug
court evaluations focus exclusively on outcome measures such as recidivism and fail
to account for the disparities between the courts organizational rhetoric and practices.
Drug court evaluations fail to account for such issues as planned and delivered
treatment, official and operational goals, and intended and unintended effects of
mandated drug treatment. Rather than continuing to conduct program specific
outcome evaluations with methodological weaknesses, researchers should focus on
developing widespread and consistent systematic standards for improving overall
drug court effectiveness through evidence based practices (Franco,
Mexico Poverty
According to a 2015 study by The Organization for Economic Corporation and
Development, Mexico has one of the highest rates of income inequality in the
world which inevitably leads to a sharp contrast among living conditions, agency,
and power between the rich and the poor. Mexican society has been stratified since
the Mexican revolution. The goals of the Mexican revolution were to disperse
wealth but the policies enacted made it difficult to make a living in a rural setting
thus serving as a catalyst for a mass emigration to cities where people were could
only find shelter in the slums
(https://history.libraries.wsu.edu/spring2016/2016/01/20/the poverty and social
stratification in mexico/). After watching the documentary about the One Child
Policy in China, a common theme appears to be that the poorest and most
marginalized seem to be those living in rural societies. This is most likely because
generally speaking, the poor are the least educated simply because they cannot afford
it thus resulting in having to hold laborious jobs such as those in agriculture.
The distribution of wealth in Mexico is perhaps the leading cause for the social
inequality so prominent in the country. For the past 25 years the gap between the rich
and poor has been steadily increasing. According to the WEA the top 1% of Mexico s
distribution has an average annual income 47 times that of the poorest 1% (https:/

Unexpected occurrences take place that are negative, and these might be things
which one does not have control over. Authors often use internal struggles as a
mental imprisonment that one much conquers in order to achieve their full potential.
In Hag Seed, Felix is backstabbed, kicked out of his job as the director of the

Summary Of How To Poison The Earth By Linnea Saukko
How to Poison the Earth by Linnea Saukko is a satirical piece of writing that
shows how we should preserve and guarantee the fate of the earth by inversely
destroying it. Saukko applied her knowledge from working as an environmental
technician and acting as an advisor on chemical safety at large corporations. With a
background in hazardous waste as well as chemical safety, the writer was able to
use her previous education to add facts and statistics to the paper. As well as using
satire to convey her message, Saukko demonstrates the use of chronological order,
vivid word choice, as well as using a substantial amount of sarcasm throughout her
response. The use of chronological order throughout the paper, allowed the author
to describe step by step the long and grim process that it would take to poison the
earth. Saukko first describes the varying chemicals that are available to us today, that
could severely impact the earth. The author then continues to describe a method in
which one would use to literally inject the earth with toxins. The second to last
approach that Saukko describes is to pollute the waters, water makes up 70% of our
earth s composition, so poisoning it would largely affect the people as well as the
outer surface of our planet. The last mechanism that the... Show more content on

My Music Concert
Today, I went to the symphony for the first time. Not much of a thrilling opener,
huh? What if I elaborated to say the closest I have ever gotten to a symphony was a
grade four band concert, in which my little brother played the saxophone (he quit
the following year.) Maybe I could compare this experience to all the DIY rock
shows I attended back home in basements/back rooms where the sounds could be
loud enough to deafen people standing outside and the heat could bring almost
anyone to immediate sickness, but that seems a little crude. The bottom line is, I
have never been fortunate enough to encounter the amount or complexity of
instruments as I did at Willson Auditorium. Before continuing, I would like to
express sincere gratitude toward requiring, and thus allowing, me to attend this
fantastic concert. I believe that I not only enjoyed a wonderful performance but
also appreciated music with knowledge and context. It is because of said
knowledge and context that the music sounded lifelike, and the connections
between instruments and literary ideas were formed for the first time. Upon
arrival to the seats I was surprised by the vastness of the venue, and the proximity of
my seat to the stage (the row directly ahead of me was front row.) When the
musicians took stage, I was slightly disappointed at my inability to see everyone,
however, my view of the double basses was intriguing as I had not realized how large
they actually are (I had never seen one in real life prior.)

Prior to the revolution, the Episcopal Church in the U.S existed nearly 200 years
without bishops; this was due in part to American resistance and the slow reaction of
the Church of England (Ward 52). In 1622, the Church of England became
established in Virginia; a crown colony, which had governor appointed by the king
(Ward 48). After the revolution Anglicanismin America was in a disarray, some
believers fled the country, while others were faced with the question of how to give
shape to their community of worship under changed circumstances (Linzey and
Kirker 3). Eventually the Protestant Episcopal Church was formed ( Ward 54).
Christianity was a religion that grew alongside with America, this allowed the
religion to become adjusted to local adaptations, and grow and change along with
various civil rights movements. In Africa, Anglicanism first accompanied the
British involvement in the Atlantic slave trade (Ward 112). Missionary movements
in areas such as Nigeria and Uganda, which have a strong Anglican presence,
helped the religion to prosper. Christianity first arrived to Uganda in the 1870 s,
during this period the area was under strong Muslim influence and was popular for
Arab slave traders ( African Anglicans ). The King of the region practiced the Arab
custom of pederasty, and when Christian courtiers and pages did not oblige, hundreds
were killed in martyrdoms ( African Anglicans ). Still the churches flourished and
Romeo And Juliet Comparison Essay
William Shakespeare s famous Romeo and Juliet was reinvented in 1996 as Romeo
+ Juliet and was directed by Baz Luhrmann. Luhrmann s interpretation has turned
Shakespeare s traditional tale of a tragic love story into a modern and urbanised 20th
century version. Luhrmann s adaptation keeps the classic story of Romeo and Juliet
true. This is seen by still having the constant feud between the Montague and Capulet
family and the countless tragedies, yet Luhrmann adds a 20th century twist by using
guns instead of swords and replacing horses with cars. The main characters remain as
Romeo and Juliet, although there is a greater focus on them than their parents. The
events take place in Verona, however, it is at Verona Beach in Florida, not Italy. All

In the text the script is very lengthy and descriptive. Luhrmann has strategically
pulled out the most powerful and key lines to emphasise the desperation for escape
Juliet is looking for. In the text Juliet comes across as calm, defeated and longing
for help, although in the movie she is violent and extremely snappy. This is seen
when she puts a gun to her heads and screams to Friar, I LONG TO DIE! Juliet is
depicted as stuck up and sassy in the text however is obedient at first and somewhat
aggressive as the scene progresses throughout the movie. Baz Luhrmann uses soft,
creepy yet holy music throughout the scene and when Juliet raises the gun the music
gets louder and reaches its climax. Juliet is dressed in dark colours, portraying how
depressed she is feeling. This shows contrast as she is usually dressed in white,
representing her purity. In Baz Luhrmann s interpretation he stays true to Shakespeare
s dialogue and succeeds in adding appropriate music, staging and body
Old Hag Syndrome
Sleep paralysis goes by many different names, and one famously known name for it
is Old Hag Syndrome. For some people who have had episodes of sleep paralysis,
they might have experienced an inanimate being known as the old hag. The hag has
been said to sit on your chest while you are frozen, crushing your chest and making
it hard to breathe until the episode is over and you are able to move. In
Newfoundland sleep paralysishas been called an attack of Old Hag (Heffron,
Thomas). In a paper by N C. Ness, multiple people had reported of seeing the same
old hag on their chests while being paralyzed, and by the description of each of their
encounters, researches were able to trace back the old hag to the clinical condition,
sleep paralysis.
Tampa Bay Times Article Analysis
On August fourth, in Tampa Bay, Florida, a flamingo, affectionately named Pinky
was forcefully taken from her enclosure at Busch Gardens, and slammed against
the ground by an Orlando man with a history of senselessly murdering animals.
Multiple news websites covered the traumatic incident, but two managed to stand
out above the others: The Tampa Bay Times, and United Press International.
However, only one presented the story effectively and accurately. The Tampa Bay
Times is a credible news agency and is published both on paper and online. They
are Florida s largest newspaper, is the most utilized news website in Tampa Bay,
and has won twelve Pulitzer Prizes for their works. The site has a cool color

Early Gothic Cathedral
An example of an early gothic cathedral is the Wells Cathedral, Somerset. It was
built from 1175 1490s. It holds one of the most numbers of stained glass windows.
The five windows in the Lady Chapel shows images of saint Dunstan, and the seven
light windows on the choir which portrays the Tree of Jesse. This is a representation
of the genealogy of Christ. Most of the carvings on the abacus are a foliage motif, but
the carvings on the transepts closer to the nave holds more symbolism. They show
four scenes representing the Wages of Sin through narrating fruit stealers at an
orchard being beaten by the farmer. Another symbolic carving found is the lizard
climbing the abacus, which represents eternal life. A 15th Century cloister contains

The internal plan of the cathedral are greater in length relative to the width, and
consists of a nave or central vessel with aisles at both sides and transepts which
make the arms of a cathedral plan and creating a cross shape when viewed in plan.
When the transepts are applied, it is normal to have them placed directly opposite
of each other, for example like in Lichfield Cathedral. The Eastern side is where
the most value is held in the Cathedral, which is marked by greater diversity in
form, richness, and height difference of the ribbed vault. In England, the Eastern
section is almost always a square form or similar, and less often an apse, which is a
more semi circular or polygonal in plan. [2] The internal section of cathedrals are
made up of a main arcade, which are arches supported by long and thin pillars. [2]
Above that is the Triforium, and a Gallery surrounding it and above the aisle. On
the highest level is the Clerestory, topped by the ribbed vault and the new roof. The
roof is often enriched with tiles or other coverings. Ornaments such as mouldings,
carvings and the use of colour have added a point of interest and beauty to the
gothic cathedral. The gables, a triangular shaped wall forming the roof, is one of the
most distinctive gothic characteristic. It is placed at the end of the nave and
transepts. As a widely used rule, gables contain one or more windows. It creates
space for a huge stained glass windows are fitted in, and these windows became a
major method of teaching the public of narrate biblical
A Brief Description of Major Depressive Disorder Essay
The word depression has become a common everyday word. We hear the term
depression so frequently today, it s even used in the contexts of jokes. For
example you may hear someone say My favorite show is over, now I have nothing
to watch, I m so depressed . Obviously this person is not depressed, but we have
come to overuse it in our expressions, to the point that is takes away from the
seriousness of this disorder. Major depressive disorderis a mood disorder
characterized by at least two weeks of depressed mood or loss of interest in nearly all
activities, along with sleep or eating disturbances, loss of energy, and feelings of
hopelessness (Kosslyn, Rosenberg, 2006). This mood disorder is characterized by a

Major depressive disorder is found among all cultural and ethnic groups, as well as,
among people of all socioeconomic groups (Kosslyn, Rosenberg, 2006). According to
the World Health Organization (2004), major depressive disorder is currently third on
the burden of disease list. Surprisingly, major depressive disorder ranks higher than
heart disease, strokes, and traffic accidents. Though the prevalence of major
depressive disorder is undisputed among mental health practitioners the preferred
treatment modality is disputed.
I think it is important to look at depression as something that isn t cured; rather it s
something that is managed. There are many ways that therapists choose to treat
depression. After doing research about the various types, it seems that Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy, CBT, is the most effective at managing depression (Klosko,
Sanderson, 2000). CBT is used as a tool; it focuses in on finding cognitive reasons for
negative feelings and actions, and then attempts to train the brain to work around
these cognitive obstacles on the road to actualization. In other words CBT modifies
the negative thoughts that lead to negative behavior; by preventing the negative
thoughts you are also preventing the negative behavior associated with depression. I
like this treatment because it is based on the logical idea that our thoughts cause our
behaviors, rather than

decreased from 30,000 in the early 20th century to just 703 who were mainly
workers of local industries. Of these 703 residents Micheal R. Matthews[2] stated
many of the workers included 43 engineers; 14 clerks; 24 boiler makers and
machinists; 25 builders; 30 stonemasons; 3 dairy men; 16 blacksmiths and 13

these workers and due to the dramatic changes these sort of industries no longer exist.
Nowadays the types of residents of the peninsula have changed significantly due to
the transformation of the peninsulas facilities and its close perimeter to the City

Should Humans Be Cloned
in any other method can now have children through cloning. I m sure you all know
some families or family members who are currently dealing with infertility. Would
you rather see them suffer without a child or see them happy with a child? Infertility
is due to genetic flaws, damages to the generative organs, hereditary deficiencies and
exposure to deadly materials and radioactivity. According to the CDC, about 7
million Americans are infertile at child bearing age. Cloningoffers infertile people a
higher chance of success. The cause for infertility is the lack of production of
feasible gametes and through cloning there is no need for feasible sperms or eggs;
any cell from the body would do. It would avoid faulty gametes and let infertile

The Analysis of New Criticism in Forgiving My Father Poem by Lucille Clifton
There are many literary works that have been created by the authors with different
types and different genres of literary works. Literary works itself never separated
from the elements that contained in it that help to build the story of literary work
itself. There are 2 elements in a literary work; intrinsic element and extrinsic element.
Intrinsic element itself is elements that make up a work of literature in the form

will focus only on intrinsic element especially in a poem.
The poem, if it be a true poem is a simulacrum of reality in this sense; at least, it is
an imitation by being an experience rather than any mere statement about experience
or any mere abstraction from experience (Brooks, 1947). In this case, the poem was

According to I. A. Richards, irony is characteristic of poetry of the highest order, as it
brings in the opposite, complementary impulses, in order to achieve a balanced
poise . (Richards, 1924). Irony itself refers to the statement that has the opposite
meaning from what it written or expected. In the Lucile Clifton s poem entitled
Forgiving My Father , it can be found the irony inside it. The irony of the poem
appears in the second stanza. The irony is seen from the way she talks to her
father, for example, there is no more time for you. There will never be time enough
daddy, daddy, old lecher old liar (Clifton, 1969). The sentences in the second stanza
express anger, irony and hatred of the daughter toward her father. It can be seen
from the words old lecher and old liar that she really hates her father, and it show
that her father is not a good role man for her. The second stanza explain how the

The Yankees have many great players. We have Aaron Judge, who last year was the

Cosmic laws do not!
The law of cause and effect is often considered to be the first governing principle of
the universe. However, there are forces that precede this. (Forces that also precede
Karma, the law of cause and effect on a moral spectrum) Longing, for example.
Desire propels material life. It is the force that drives cause and effect. It represents
our urges to seek as well as enjoy the pleasurable. It motivates us to avoid pain, along
with our innate need to anticipate its occurrence pre emptively.
First things first, what is force? Force is the interaction of the fundamental elements
of our universe. The elements that form the basis of our material domain. These are
the substances that cannot be reduced to smaller parts. Even though they originate
from a single source, their foundation cannot be adequately verified outside the
realms of experientially gained information. In spite of the fact that even then, they
evade cognition through the mind or description through language. Our senses cannot
yet perceive their all pervading base (unless we are trained to do so or the occurrence

The Hollow Skull: Vanitas and its Message
The Netherlands in the Seventeenth Century was the home of many famous artists,
most notably Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, but also many lesser known
artists such as Pieter Claesz.. Pieter Claesz was born in 1597 in Berchem (near
Antwerp) Claesz moved to Haarlem in 1620 and lived there till his death in 1660.
He is most associated with the Flemish and Dutch still life tradition and still lifes
make up a vast majority of his work. His 1628 painting Still Life with a Skull and a
Writing Quill is a prime example of the Still Life style called Vanitas, so named as the
artist would attempt to display the vanity of materialism.
As the name suggests the skull instantly draws the eye, the hollow face of the skull
is in the center of the oil on wood painting. The skull extends to the right where one
sees an empty glass on its side resting at an angle to the skull. The glass is
reflecting light along its curve but does not give one an actual reflection. Beneath
both the skull and glass is a book and a sheaf of papers in a portfolio. The book s
binding is brown and the pages are yellowing, whereas the papers in the moss green
portfolio are a contrasting white. The presence of paper fits with the other object in
the title, the writing quill, whose feather rests on the book and sheaf. The head of the
quill points to the right of the painting where it rests on an overturned ink

impairment. Research suggests that the first 6 months are the most crucial to a
child s development of language skills. For a person to become fully competent in
any language, exposure must begin as early as possible, preferably before school
age. Approximately 7.5 million people in the United States have trouble using their
voices (NIDCD). Expressive LanguageDisorder is a developmental disorder where a
child will have difficulties expressing him or herself in speech. Characteristics may
include limited vocabulary, difficulty recalling words and producing complex or
lengthy sentences. Children with expressive disorder often start speaking late and
experience delays acquiring expressive language. A child with Expressive Language

For other children, expressive language disorder is associated with known
developmental difficulties or impairments such as Down Syndrome, Autism and
hearing loss. Standardized expressive language and nonverbal intellectual tests, and
in certain cases functional assessments, should be conducted if an expressive
language disorder is suspected. Expressive language disorders may interfere with
academics and social communication. Speech therapy and social skills therapies
may benefit children affected by this disorder. There are many successful everyday
people to this day that have struggled with this disorder, there are also some famous
people as well. Truman Capote was a famous American author who was diagnosed
with communication disorders. At the age of eleven, since he cannot speak in a very
natural way, he decided to train himself to become good writer. Communication
disorder didn t stop him in continuing his ambition which is to become a famous
writer and a television
Kim Kardashians Of The Wild
Kim Kardashians of the wild? Exaggerated sexual swellings in non human primates:
mechanisms and functions
Oedemas of sexual tissue with extracellular water retention and swellings of the skin
of the circumanal, subcaudal and paracallosal regions (Krohn Zuckermann, 1937;
Dixson, 1998a) are observed in many species of non human primates, baboons being
famous for their large bright behinds. We know that this engorged feature has
evolved independently 5 times as different tissue areas are involved in each of the
species exhibiting the trait (Dixon, 1998b). Multiple independent evolutions of this
trait suggests that the exaggerated swellings serve an adaptive purpose. (Tecumseh
Fitch, 2011) The possibly quite significant added costs of simply ... Show more

Analysis on faecal matter showed that turgescence of baboon ano genital swellings
links to the follicular phase of the ovarian cycle, while deturgescence links to the
luteal phase, leading to the conclusion that the swellings are under the influence of
hormonal control in primates (Gillmann and Gilbert, 1946). This suggests that the
role of sexual swellings is to visually indicate the onset of ovulation to male non
human primates. It is observed that swellings indeed attract males independently of
olfactory or behavioural cues (Bielert 1982; Saayman 1970) suggesting evolution of
this attraction to larger swellings occurred due to the reproductive success associated
with it. Males that are able to recognise swellings, discriminate between them and to
mate with the female when hers are largest, would have higher chances to sire an
infant, resulting in high selection pressure on males to react to swelling state.
Ulterior motives
Examples have been found where swellings also occur in other situations where
ovulation is highly unlikely. For example in chimpanzees (Wallis, 1972) tumescence
was observed in an irregular pattern throughout pregnancy, and in Sooty Mangabeys a
swelling virtually identical in size to maximum conception swelling was observed
consistently in the first trimester. (Hadadian Bernstein, 1979) This
Power And Marriage In Macbeth
Power or Marriage Imagine being stuck in a relationship and or marriage with
someone you did not love or like. They are only using you for power that is
especially not a true marriage. Every afternoon you walk through the doors for your
house, and you think to yourself, I am so miserable in this relationship. The only
reason why you are doing this is because of the money, or the job they can offer you.
In the book Macbeththe marriages were not based on affection, they were
established by power. The author is William Shakespeare, it took place in 1606 in
Scotland, it was published in 1623, and it is a tragedy. A good marriage
empowered by power rather than fondness of each other is not a superior marriage.
First and Foremost, Lady Macbeth and her perspective of marriage demonstrate an
unhealthy amount of wearing the pants in the family. Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth a
great deal of what to do. Before they decide to killMacbeth Lady Macbeth says
When you durst do it, then you were a man, (I vii 49). She basically says he was a
man when he did want to Kill King Duncan, but now that he doesn t want to
assassinate him he isn t a man. She basically forced Macbeth to kill the King. She
convinces him to do whatever to get the crown. If she has to question his manhood
that would hit close to home. In that time period, it would be unheard of for Lady
Macbeth to wear the pants in the family because women have little to no respect. That
is why it demonstrates an unhealthy

Becoming A Nurse Practitioner For The University Of...
Approximately 69.2% of high school graduates, in October of 2015, were enrolled
in colleges or universities. It is reported by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that in
the year of 2016 the number of high school graduates enrolling in colleges will
increase. Personally, a goal of mine is to enroll into the University of California Los
Angeles, specifically UCLA School of Nursing. The career that appeals to me is one
involved in caring for children. As a result of my interest, becoming Nurse
Practitionerin Pediatrics would be the most desirable. UCLA is finest option in
Medical Schooling around my location of interest. It is also the most reasonable for
the price with benefitting high class education. In order to achieve this grand goal,
one would need to pursue strongly a schedule in advanced academics as well as
extra curricular activities to attract attention to the university application. A career in
Medicine is one of the best options in occupations. As result of it s reasonable
amount of work in schooling for its tuition, it is practical in job application, finally
Medicine is extremely beneficial for future financial income and retirement. Pediatric

American lifestyle has changed over the past 100 years and a about 80 percent of
the Americans live in urban areas compared to only 19 percent of the population
which lives in rural areas according to the 2010 consensus. Our urban centers have
some of the best hospitals in the world with the latest treatment to many diseases that
were fatal just a century ago. However the same advances in healthcare have not been
enjoyed by rural hospital and medical centers due to simple economics. United States
government has been working very hard to ensure that every American receives the

Effective Use Of Dramatic Irony In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In his tragic play, Hamlet, William Shakespeare staunchly demonstrates how one s
vehemence in a deathly scheme may lead to his/her own demise. Shakespeare uses
tragedy to convey the madness that Hamlet progressively develops from his uncle s
betrayal, dramatic irony to emphasize the corruption of King Claudius, and religious
allusion to allow for better understanding of the betrayal between King Claudius and
his brother.
The main conflict of the play stems from King Claudius betrayal of his own brother.
When Hamlet discovers that King Claudius killed his father, Hamlet makes it his
priority to avenge for the death of the former king. The chain of events that unfold
after Hamlet s discovery expresses the tragedy that Shakespeare utilizes. ... Show

One of these stories is the one about the two brothers, Cain and Abel. Cain was
envious of God s favoring of Abel, so Cain murdered his own brother. The murder
of King Hamlet, carried out by King Claudius, is an allusion to the story of Cain
and Abel. Claudius is envious of King Hamlet s power. As a result, Claudius kills
King Hamlet in order to reach his potential. This is revealed by the ghost of King
Hamlet in Act 1, Scene 5: Now, Hamlet, hear: Tis given out that, sleeping in my

What Does Home Mean In The Death Of The Hired Man
Home
Home is where the heart is, is a statement we have heard all our life. In Robert Frost
s The Death of the Hired Man, Mary and Warren have a dispute on their
disagreement with the definition of home. Mary s definition, Something you
somehow haven t to deserve, implies that home is an open place for Silas to return
to. On the other hand, Warren s explanation, Home is the place where, when you
have to go there, they have to take you in, is emphasizing that the family is compelled
to allow Silas in. The couple s definitions in general mean two different things.
Warren s feelings of hatred towards Silas, and Mary s compassionate willingness to
help Silas. Although Warren harbors no hard feelings toward Silas, he looks in

Type I Interferon Signaling
Type I Interferon has emerged as a potential therapeutic option to combat obesity and
its many negative health effects. Type I Interferon (IFN) signaling is canonical in the
innate immune response, but less established is the role of type I IFNs in
metabolism. At 2 weeks of high fat diet, mice experience an increase in interferon
signaling in many metabolic tissues. Type I interferon activation attenuates
mitochondrial function in certain tissues. Given the essential role of the
mitochondria in cell metabolismand energy expenditure, the impairment of this
organelle could be implicated in the development of obesity and weight gain.
However targeting IFNAR receptors by thermogenic tissue have less clear reductions

Type I interferon signaling is essential for fighting infection. Interferons are potent
cytokines that create an antiviral state by inhibiting viral transcription, translation,
and assembly of nucleophages. Interferons are then secreted from host cells to alert
neighboring cells to the infectious threat, and the neighboring cell then enter an
antiviral state. The result is a rapid response to pathogen infection. However,
overproduction of interferon may prove harmful to cells. Under regulated interferon
signaling, hematopoietic stem cells are able to reach maturity. When interferon
signaling is increased, the stem cells are compromised (Essers et. al 2009). Thus, the
regulation of interferon signaling appears important for homeostasis as aberrant
interferon signaling is harmful for health and has been implicated in inflammatory
diseases, such as autoimmunity and diabetes. (Gough et al, 2012) Our study found
that high fat diet promoted upregulation of ISGs in various tissue types after 2
weeks, pointing to what is potentially a disruption in homeostasis. Accordingly,
TBK1 and IKK Оµ upstream kinases involved in activation of certain IRFs are found
at elevated level in adipose tissue of obese mice. (Fitzgerald et al, 2003, Chiang et al,
2009). Inhibiting these kinases in obese mice improves insulin sensitivity as well as
metabolic capacity (Reilly et. al,
Joseph Black Carbon Dioxide Research Paper
Joseph Black discovered carbon dioxide in the 1950s. Carbon dioxide contains 1
carbon and 2 oxygen;it is a gas at room temperature. Furthermore, it s a non
flammable gas with no smell as well as being under high pressure and it extracts
natural materials. Carbon dioxide appertains many benedictions to the world. Carbon
dioxidecontains many prosperities due to the increase in the quantity of food for the
human consumption and the rising atmospheric Co2 concentration increases the
quality of the food we eat. Co2, known as carbon dioxide also increases the quality

When the frequency of the IR(infrared) is the same as the vibrational frequency of a
bond or collection of bonds, absorption occurs. This is what an example of an IR
spectrum does once it s put to action
This IR spectrum sets forts wave numbers in the X axis and the transmittance at the Y
axis. This spectrum elucidates the gap in the wavenumbers of the absorptions in the
transmittance in addition to the wavelengths of the infrared light. As you can see the
peak at 2300 to 2400 in the IR spectrum indicates the relation of the carbon double
bonded oxygen. The overall cause of Co2 is that it can be very harmful for global
warming. The solution for this problem is to use green electricity, make energy use
efficiency, use electricity satisfactorily at home, recycle and have public transport.

Associate Degree-Prepared Nurse Analysis
In 1860, Florence Nightingale founded the first modern nursing school to break the
stigma of previous nursing views and provide appropriate training to nurses
(Finkelman Kenner, 2016). Since then, the nursing profession has dramatically
evolved over the last centuries. In 1965, the AACN recommended that nurses should
receive at least a baccalaureate degree before entering practice to meet the
accelerating need for nurses in other areas, such as health promotion and disease
prevention, case management, and managed care settings (AACN, 2000). However,
the AACN is not trying to not seek to limit the role of the associate degree prepared
nursein the practice setting (AACN, 2000). In fact, the AACN believes that
Associate degree prepared nurses play an import role in the delivery of healthcare
(AACN, 2000). Today, most hospitals prefer to hire BSN holder nurses. Since 2005,
the Veteran s Administration has set a baccalaureate degree a minimum requirement
in addition to committing to invest $50 million over the next five years to help VA
nurses obtain baccalaureate or higher nursing degrees (AACN, 2000). As a result of
the new implementations, the number of new BSN graduates from 1975 to 1999 has
rose from approximately 3,700 a year to more... Show more content on

As the nursing programs are losing their most experience faculty due to retirement,
others do not want to enroll in education because they can get paid better in the

How I Missed Quality Time With The Children
There are two types of people in the world, separated by whether or not they have
had the moment. The first type goes along thinking about how busy they are, or
how much happier they would be if they could afford a new car or a bigger house,
worrying and trying to work harder, earn more, do more. That used to be me:
Working more hours to make more money to get more things. I missed quality
time with the children because I was working, always working. I worked about 12
hours a day and even when I was home, my attention wasn t all there. My middle
daughter, Sara, will never forget that I didn t show up for her awards assembly
when she was 8. I don t even remember missing it. I was focused on making enough
money. Enough for a pool table, enough for a hot tub, enough for unnecessary
things that humans want. The second type of people seem to spend all their time
having one celebration or another, going on trips at a moment s notice, always
doing things together, seemingly living irresponsibly. We, now, are (mostly) the
latter. Our moment came along 7 years ago this month. This time of year always
brings back the memories, although the pain diminishes each time. It was
November 2, 2007, a day that is seared forever, irrevocably in our minds. It started
out as a typical evening. Our oldest son, Brandon, had a friend over. Sara was
having a sleepover with two of her friends. Our oldest daughter, Heather, was
working at the local pizza joint, my husband, Keith, had just come in
Main Factors of Product Pricing in the Uk
Discuss the main factors affecting product pricing in the UK?
The Oxford English dictionary defines price as a value that will purchase a
definite quantity, weight, or other measure of a good or service . Simply put, the
price of an object represents the overall demand for that product at a specific time.
However, every firm had a different ideology about price and they way they set price.
One of these main factors that affect price is the actual objective of the firm.
Traditional theory suggests that firms will charge a profit maximizing price where
price is determined when marginal cost equals marginal revenue.
They operate to seek a maximum return on the investment and costs they have input.
The diagram below shows how firms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However most firms in the UK do not operate in these kinds of structures. An
oligopoly is a more realistic market structure that most UK firms operate in. It is a
market structure that is dominated by two or more firms that sell a range of similar
branded products who are price makers.
Due to the high concentration ratios (function of number of firms and respective
shares of total production (Anon. Oligopolies. Available: http:/
/www.economicshelp.org/dictionary/c/concentration ratios.html. Last accessed 6th
Nov )) and the fact that oligopolistic firms share market power, pricing theory is
heavily based on interdependence between firms. Firms are likely to collaborate
on pricing decisions so as to earn monopoly profits and deter new entrants from
ruining the fun . Formal collusion are referred to as cartels e.g. OPEC. They decide
what price to set and what quantity to produce so as each member receives the
maximum gains. However, there are cases where members cheat and undercut the
price, maximizing their revenue e.g. Iran and Nigeria in the early 1980 s cut oil
prices to earn more market share. (Sloman, Wride (2009). Economics. 7th ed.
London: Pearson. p58.)
In tacit collusion (informal collusion), the dominant firm or the firm with the most
market power usually sets the collaborated price e.g. Brooke Bond was the market
leader in the late 1960 s in the tea market, and all other firms matched its price.
(Sloman, Wride
Essay about Stephen Napier on Stem Cell Research
The dispute which is being analyzed in this paper is one of mass debate today. The
argument is on whether or not embryonic stem cells should be used to come up
with forms of treatment for degenerative diseases such as: Parkinson s, Alzheimer
s and Diabetes. The author of this paper is Stephen Napier he is in association with
the Bioethics center in Philadelphia, PA. The article was published in the Journal
of Medicine and Philosophy in 2009. In this article Mr. Napier reviews past
arguments on the current debate and provides the reader with his stance against the
use of Stem cells as a form of research and furthermore he argues the stance on
vulnerability of a fetus and if it has moral values equal to an adult person.
In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then goes onto to say what the protections to the vulnerable could be. In the
following section he begins to place his argument into an outline.
After laying out his structured argument he takes a broader look at the opposition and
what they might say about his view on the subject matter. The critics would say that
the human embryo does not count as a human subject or that she does not count as a
vulnerable human subject (Napier, 502). After explaining the opposition he then
looks at the moral worth of the embryo and gives several situations in which there is
possibilities of the embryo having moral values even before birth. He gives an
example that an adult is comatose and needs stem cell implants to be able to function
again. The adult who needs regenerative therapy and the embryo are in the same
position in relation to possessing personhood capacities. Both lack these capacities
in morally similar ways. Therefore, if we say the adult has moral status, then so
does the embryo (Napier, 505). Another case he illustrates to prove his point is that
of women smoking and having miscarriages. Most women when they find out they
have had a miscarriage mourn the loss of their baby. Most people would say that
women should stop smoking if they become pregnant; not doing so is morally
irresponsible (Napier, 505). According to Napier, if the women have to stop smoking
because it s immoral then the embryo is a living being.

In comparison Virginia and Plymouth had a reason for colonizing in the Americas. It
natural that any foreigner would want more money and especially in a placed where
no one has touched it. They both had a purpose of being here in the Americas, the
colonist had good soil for the plantations and for growing new different groups in the
field, and the pilgrims had a very rocky soil and it limited their farming skills, so the
colonists had an advantage. The pilgrims were more involved in conflicts with the
native Americans that the colonists, they were both were associated with them but
numerous times the pilgrims had conflicts with them. The colonists from Virginia and
Plymouth both came for the British monarchy of England. Complemnetary to this the
colonies had some starvation rapidly going on in their civilizations and also a
numerous titanic load of people died. When they arrived in the Americas the native
Americans helped them by supplying food because they were not used to the
different soils and plantations that they had back in England. The people of Virginia
wanted to be wealthy and the puritans from Plymouth came because of religious
freedom and because they had religious persecution in their native homelands.

Being a freight broker is a rewarding, but challenging career. However, you need a lot of skills and knowledge in order to become a successful transportation broker. Keep reading to learn why freight brokers need formal training. Freight Brokerage 101 According to Entrepreneur magazine, there are legal requirements for anyone who starts a brokerage business. For example, all new freight brokers must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This involves filing forms, paying fees, designating legal agents and getting a $75,000 bond or trust fund. In addition to this, a small business owner will need to obtain a local business license and a state operating permit. A training program will help the freight broker understand these complex legal requirements. Keep in mind that any mistakes on these permits could result in legal problems down the road. Second, freight brokers must have financial training and management skills. For example, the bond or trust fund must be established as part of the permit process. The purpose of this is to prove that the freight broker is responsible and that they have access to money in order to pay any claims. However, freight brokers who don t understand finances will have a hard time convincing clients, the bonding company and even their own bank that they are competent. Freight broker training will

He quickly became a top football prospect in the state of Tennessee, which led to multiple scholarship offers from Division 1 schools. This means that when he was taken in by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy and they became his legal guardians he began to excel at school and football. His mother was taken into a rehabilitation center, but this was an improvement since at least Michael was able to see her sometimes. His other siblings were all taken to foster care. • 7. Thornbury Castle Essay Thornbury Castle The first part of the assignment concerns the characteristics of Thornbury Castle, and in particular its defensive and palace like features. Having visited the site, in my opinion Thornbury Castle displays both defensive and luxurious, palace like features. The Castle has the beginning of a ditch which could be argued as being a moat. Crennelations, machicolations, gun/arrow loops and portcullis grooves are all strong defensive features included in the building of Thornbury Castle. Arguably, the most defensive feature of Thornbury Castle is the evidence of a barracks. Palace and luxurious features include large windows, beautifully decorated terracotta chimneys and large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These can be seen at Thornbury Castle. The so called Tudor Palace was therefore more of a symbol of wealth as opposed to a necessary means of defence. Despite the trend towards luxurious country houses, Tudor palaces still included the defensive features noted above at Thornbury Castle. At the time that Thornbury Castle was being built, other buildings were not that dissimilar, in the sense that again they display both palace like and defensive features. Many of the buildings have crennelations which are more of a decorative feature. Most of the buildings are of similar design to Thornbury Castle but not one of them has included in their design arrow slits or a barracks, but Thornbury does. Hampton Court Palace is almost identical to Thornbury Castle. One feature found in both castles are terracotta tiled chimneys. Clay/terracotta tiled chimneys were popular and expensive in Tudor times and are decorative features of Tudor palaces. Examples of terracotta tiled chimneys can also be seen at Richmond Palace. Wencestor Hollar is the most luxurious and palace like of the buildings from this era. It is taken much from an Eastern theme with large tear drop towers. Despite differences of detail in all of these castles, Thornbury displays many
  • 8. Analysis Of William Wilson A Trick Of The Mind Cameron Narimanian Mrs. Scott Writing Composition 6/2/17 A Trick of the Mind Every story has a protagonist and antagonist, often thinking of them as two different people with either similar or coinciding personalities and traits, the battle between good and evil. However, the protagonist and antagonist could also be the same person. Everyone always has different emotions we all have our own, dark side, or for some, their own alter ego. This idea of a dark side, is a trait which strongly resonates in Edgar Allan Poe s protagonist William Wilson in his short story William Wilson. William creates a visual alter ego of himself. William Wilson s alter ego, is a trick on his mind, with a lack of parental support, which is created by the need for control, and finally the insecurity within his own self. William Wilson s lack of parental support causes his poor mental health. He introduces himself by stating his personality; I wanted people always to do things my way; I acted like a wild fool; I let my desires control me. (Poe 6). William, even from a young age, is born with a controlling attitude, to everyone around him, even his parents. He also despise his parents, considers them as weak and unhelpful, My father and mother, weak in body and mind, could do little to hold me back. (7). He also dominates his parents. We also see his parents are weak where he is strong, asserting his dominance, When their efforts failed, of course my will grew stronger (7).

The humans on the other hand who have hurt these animals are bad people and deserve time in jail, which they can t accept causing them to also lash out at any point just like the animals may. • 10. The Perception Of The Human Sciences Each of us are different in many ways and that fact cannot possible be disputed by anyone who has any back ground in the human sciences, as it has been scientifically proven that we all have unique finger prints, DNA, hair, looks, behavior and facial expressions and the combination of these things make us unique personality types so to speak. We also function from two different perspectives and we need to understand how each one of us functions. We each like to think that we are special (which we are) and in that portrayal system, we mostly portray what we perceive we want people to think about us. On the other side of the coin we have a reality in what we truly believe about ourselves and the way we feel inwardly. Many of us become disillusioned with our true inner picture, simple because of a misunderstanding of our personal purpose in life. The fact that we allow this dissatisfaction to creep into our lives, we create an inner insecurity within ourselves and we then start looking at others or alternatively we start behaving like others, which is completely outside our true personality, thereby attempting to look different, behave different, think different, dress different and when looking at our big picture, become dissatisfied with our true personality, allowing society to name us as a personality type which is definitely going to influence our level to be successful in life. Society has made us believe that we need to conform to a standard of behavior, which then

Drug Relapse Analysis In 2005, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) conducted a meta analysis on 39 adult drug courts around the country, to assess whether drug courts were effective at reducing recidivism and substance abuse relapse among drug court participants (Franco, 2011). Drug treatment courts represent the nation s efforts to design an alternative method of endorsing treatment and community supervision. Despite the inconsistencies of drug court evaluations, support for drug treatment courts for drug dependent offenders has been widespread (Stinchcomb, 2010). In order to assess whether drug courts are effective, drug court evaluations must explore the political and organizational contexts within drug court treatment (Stinchcomb, 2010). Many drug court evaluations focus exclusively on outcome measures such as recidivism and fail to account for the disparities between the courts organizational rhetoric and practices. Drug court evaluations fail to account for such issues as planned and delivered treatment, official and operational goals, and intended and unintended effects of mandated drug treatment. Rather than continuing to conduct program specific outcome evaluations with methodological weaknesses, researchers should focus on developing widespread and consistent systematic standards for improving overall drug court effectiveness through evidence based practices (Franco,

Mexico Poverty According to a 2015 study by The Organization for Economic Corporation and Development, Mexico has one of the highest rates of income inequality in the world which inevitably leads to a sharp contrast among living conditions, agency, and power between the rich and the poor. Mexican society has been stratified since the Mexican revolution. The goals of the Mexican revolution were to disperse wealth but the policies enacted made it difficult to make a living in a rural setting thus serving as a catalyst for a mass emigration to cities where people were could only find shelter in the slums (https://history.libraries.wsu.edu/spring2016/2016/01/20/the poverty and social stratification in mexico/). After watching the documentary about the One Child Policy in China, a common theme appears to be that the poorest and most marginalized seem to be those living in rural societies. This is most likely because generally speaking, the poor are the least educated simply because they cannot afford it thus resulting in having to hold laborious jobs such as those in agriculture. The distribution of wealth in Mexico is perhaps the leading cause for the social inequality so prominent in the country. For the past 25 years the gap between the rich and poor has been steadily increasing. Saukko applied her knowledge from working as an environmental technician and acting as an advisor on chemical safety at large corporations. With a background in hazardous waste as well as chemical safety, the writer was able to use her previous education to add facts and statistics to the paper. As well as using satire to convey her message, Saukko demonstrates the use of chronological order, vivid word choice, as well as using a substantial amount of sarcasm throughout her response. The use of chronological order throughout the paper, allowed the author to describe step by step the long and grim process that it would take to poison the earth. Saukko first describes the varying chemicals that are available to us today, that could severely impact the earth. The author then continues to describe a method in which one would use to literally inject the earth with toxins. What if I elaborated to say the closest I have ever gotten to a symphony was a grade four band concert, in which my little brother played the saxophone (he quit the following year.) Maybe I could compare this experience to all the DIY rock shows I attended back home in basements/back rooms where the sounds could be loud enough to deafen people standing outside and the heat could bring almost anyone to immediate sickness, but that seems a little crude. The bottom line is, I have never been fortunate enough to encounter the amount or complexity of instruments as I did at Willson Auditorium. Before continuing, I would like to express sincere gratitude toward requiring, and thus allowing, me to attend this fantastic concert. I believe that I not only enjoyed a wonderful performance but also appreciated music with knowledge and context. It is because of said knowledge and context that the music sounded lifelike, and the connections between instruments and literary ideas were formed for the first time. Upon arrival to the seats I was surprised by the vastness of the venue, and the proximity of my seat to the stage (the row directly ahead of me was front row.) When the musicians took stage, I was slightly disappointed at my inability to see everyone, however, my view of the double basses was intriguing as I had not realized how large they actually are (I had never seen one in real life prior.)

After doing research about the various types, it seems that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT, is the most effective at managing depression (Klosko, Sanderson, 2000). CBT is used as a tool; it focuses in on finding cognitive reasons for negative feelings and actions, and then attempts to train the brain to work around these cognitive obstacles on the road to actualization. This new category featured the highest quality raw ingredients, classic cooking methods, and distinctive interior design features that are more frequently found in the world of fine dining. However, aside from the normally long wait in lines, an order could be taken and served in only a couple minutes. Currently Chipotle operates more than 1,500 restaurants internationally. The following pages will present a balanced approach to the effectiveness of Chipotle s strategy analyzing financial performance, customer satisfaction, employee/learning and growth, and internal process.... The only variation to the original model has been an increased environmental awareness and a Test Restaurant in Washington D.C. that serves Asian Style fast casual food. Strategy Reading through the annual reports Chipotle s strategy is comprised of four components: 1. To increase consumer awareness with regards to the importance and benefits of consuming naturally raised produce. 2. To vigorously seek out expansion into the European markets. 3. To continue to grow and foster new relationships with food suppliers. 4. To continue incurring only minimal amounts of expenses relating to marketing and other advertising expenses. Financial Analysis Fast food is known for low quality and low prices. Alternatively, the dine in experience offers high quality with a higher price. Some restaurants seek a low cost dine in experience but this is done with a deteriorated food quality. Therefore, it would make sense that Chipotle s philosophy of high quality has a hard time maintaining a low price. Chipotle makes this work by charging slightly higher prices than fast food. Customers are willing to pay this because of the differentiations Chipotle offers but how does this translate overall financially? One key aspect for Chipotle is their ability to cover debt. They maintain very liquid assets to cover the costs of

We have Aaron Judge, who last year was the rookie of the year and second in the AL MVP voting. Pieter Claesz was born in 1597 in Berchem (near Antwerp) Claesz moved to Haarlem in 1620 and lived there till his death in 1660. He is most associated with the Flemish and Dutch still life tradition and still lifes make up a vast majority of his work. His 1628 painting Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill is a prime example of the Still Life style called Vanitas, so named as the artist would attempt to display the vanity of materialism. As the name suggests the skull instantly draws the eye, the hollow face of the skull is in the center of the oil on wood painting. The skull extends to the right where one sees an empty glass on its side resting at an angle to the skull. The glass is reflecting light along its curve but does not give one an actual reflection. We know that this engorged feature has evolved independently 5 times as different tissue areas are involved in each of the species exhibiting the trait (Dixon, 1998b). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Analysis on faecal matter showed that turgescence of baboon ano genital swellings links to the follicular phase of the ovarian cycle, while deturgescence links to the luteal phase, leading to the conclusion that the swellings are under the influence of hormonal control in primates (Gillmann and Gilbert, 1946). This suggests that the role of sexual swellings is to visually indicate the onset of ovulation to male non human primates. It is observed that swellings indeed attract males independently of olfactory or behavioural cues (Bielert 1982; Saayman 1970) suggesting evolution of this attraction to larger swellings occurred due to the reproductive success associated with it. Males that are able to recognise swellings, discriminate between them and to mate with the female when hers are largest, would have higher chances to sire an infant, resulting in high selection pressure on males to react to swelling state. Ulterior motives Examples have been found where swellings also occur in other situations where ovulation is highly unlikely. For example in chimpanzees (Wallis, 1972) tumescence was observed in an irregular pattern throughout pregnancy, and in Sooty Mangabeys a swelling virtually identical in size to maximum conception swelling was observed consistently in the first trimester. Type I interferon signaling is essential for fighting infection. Interferons are potent cytokines that create an antiviral state by inhibiting viral transcription, translation, and assembly of nucleophages. Interferons are then secreted from host cells to alert neighboring cells to the infectious threat, and the neighboring cell then enter an antiviral state. The result is a rapid response to pathogen infection. However, overproduction of interferon may prove harmful to cells. Under regulated interferon signaling, hematopoietic stem cells are able to reach maturity. When interferon signaling is increased, the stem cells are compromised (Essers et. al 2009). Thus, the regulation of interferon signaling appears important for homeostasis as aberrant interferon signaling is harmful for health and has been implicated in inflammatory diseases, such as autoimmunity and diabetes. One of these main factors that affect price is the actual objective of the firm. In tacit collusion (informal collusion), the dominant firm or the firm with the most market power usually sets the collaborated price e.g. Brooke Bond was the market leader in the late 1960 s in the tea market, and all other firms matched its price. • 55. Essay about Stephen Napier on Stem Cell Research The dispute which is being analyzed in this paper is one of mass debate today. The argument is on whether or not embryonic stem cells should be used to come up with forms of treatment for degenerative diseases such as: Parkinson s, Alzheimer s and Diabetes. The author of this paper is Stephen Napier he is in association with the Bioethics center in Philadelphia, PA. The article was published in the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy in 2009. In this article Mr. Napier reviews past arguments on the current debate and provides the reader with his stance against the use of Stem cells as a form of research and furthermore he argues the stance on vulnerability of a fetus and if it has moral values equal to an adult person. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then goes onto to say what the protections to the vulnerable could be. In the following section he begins to place his argument into an outline. After laying out his structured argument he takes a broader look at the opposition and what they might say about his view on the subject matter. The critics would say that the human embryo does not count as a human subject or that she does not count as a vulnerable human subject (Napier, 502). After explaining the opposition he then looks at the moral worth of the embryo and gives several situations in which there is possibilities of the embryo having moral values even before birth. He gives an example that an adult is comatose and needs stem cell implants to be able to function again. The adult who needs regenerative therapy and the embryo are in the same position in relation to possessing personhood capacities. Both lack these capacities in morally similar ways. Therefore, if we say the adult has moral status, then so does the embryo (Napier, 505). Another case he illustrates to prove his point is that of women smoking and having miscarriages. Most women when they find out they have had a miscarriage mourn the loss of their baby. Most people would say that women should stop smoking if they become pregnant; not doing so is morally irresponsible (Napier, 505). According to Napier, if the women have to stop smoking because it s immoral then the embryo is a living being.
