Benefits Of Early Childhood Education Essay

Benefits of Early Childhood Education The earlier you enrich a child s life with an education, the
greater the outcome will be in the future. Parents are the first teachers of young children. Children
acquire their knowledge and actions from observing their parents. That is how their minds develop
and how they obtain certain skills. They learn the basis of reading and writing skills at young ages.
Having an early education helps later down the road with saving money. Early Childhood
Education leads to social and emotional development, increased literacy, and fiscal savings. The
first outcome of early childhood Education is social and emotional development. The key to a
critical foundation for lifelong learning and development is positive social and emotional
development (Social Emotional Development). Social and emotional development helps to
navigate young children in supportive relationships with other young children (Social Emotional ...

Having a high education is one of the largest factors for saving money and helping the economy.
Children with a higher literacy rate pay fewer taxes, earn more money, and are less susceptible
to commit a crime (Calman and Tarr Whelan 2). Having children with a good background in
school helps the economy. These children are more likely to get jobs, work efficiently, and buy
things (Calman and Tarr Whelan 2). By being educated you save money and with that money they
are able to buy things they want, which boost the economy. Children that have an early education
save time and money by not needing extra or special classes that can be costly (Calman and Tarr
Whelan 4). Inadequate education in young children leads to excessive spending that is not
necessary or is unsuccessful (Trostel 1). Not only does an early education give development and
literacy skills, it also helps you save money down the

Influence Of Iran Relations On Fdi During Saudi Arabia And...
2.2.2.1 The influence of Iran relations on FDI in Saudi Arabia and Gulf Countries According to
economic report of Aleq (2007) Disagreement between Iran and the West will not hinder the flow of
investment to the Gulf it has been confirmed that the international high tension between Iran and
the Western countries not affect the ability of the oil rich countries (GCC) to attract foreign
investment. As a result of the stability of their economies and the high liquidity that they have. It
has been stated in this report that, the Gulf region is in high quality situation and is unlikely to
change this condition. If it is believed that there is any risk because of the war in Iran, the projects
will be retreated. Many of the foreign capital aim to enter Gulf region for investing and financing,
especially from international banks, because of the economic and high commercial growth in these
countries (Aleqt, 2007). In addition, it has been mentioned by Aleqt report (2207) that the Gulf
States are aspirated by many of the foreign capital, many of international and western banks plan
and keen to enter this market in order to finance the growth economic and participate in
infrastructure. Gulf states will spend billions of dollars in the coming years. In contrast, in the case
of nuclear programs, the development of nuclear weapons didn t affect the attraction of investments

Williams Sonoma

John A. Taylor
1. If Williams Sonoma continues with its present strategies and objectives, where will it be in 5
years?
Given today s economy, and the bleak economic outlook, I do not believe Williams Sonoma will
continue to exist with its current strategies and objectives to serve its below target market
consumers. Bottom line is many consumers cannot afford the products being sold by the company.
Although, the company s target market is in the 10% of wealthiest consumers, and had total
earnings of over 3.5 billion. (2010 shareholders meeting). Other avenues of generating revenue must
be explored. I fear that even the 10% will eventually become more cost conscious in the ... Show

I would consider lowering price points so I could tap into the more than 10% of consumers
without becoming Wal Mart . Now the company did do something to increase its position that I
found useful. That was to decrease its overall lease space by 2%. (2010 shareholders meeting).
This reduction in retail occupancy costs attributed to the 1 billion dollars the company enjoyed
last year. I would also consider expanding the company s customer base by broadening the product
line to similar to Home Goods or Bed Bath and beyond who currently double the revenue of
Williams Sonoma. (Redistribute assets earmarked for traditional cataloging to online accesses. Not
only will this save money, but will also impact paper usage. I believe advertising in this was has all
but outlived its usefulness.
3. Describe the competitive strategies used by each of Williams Sonoma s competitors. Which of
these are most effective?
Williams Sonoma has six major competitors plus one more in their market. The company holds
only 7.9% market share (FY10) to main competitor Bed, Bath and Beyond with an astonishing
34.4%. (William sonoma.com/investors) BBB s strategy is to offer competitive prices for quality
products. Its target market is middle to upper middle class and this is the reason it fairs better in the
current market. The Bombay Company s strategy was to increase its footprint by increasing outlet

Essay on Ethnic Literature
The Power in a Name The term ethnic when in conjunction with the word literature in the academic
discourse community of students, often brings out mixed feelings of excitement and dread. On the
one hand, students understand that they will be getting away from the canonical American
literature which can equal boring in their eyes; on the other hand, students interpret the term ethnic
literature to mean distinctive which can equal confusing or ambiguous and perhaps at times not
relatable because it is outside their scope of experiences. Perhaps before jumping into why it
matters, the term ethnic literature should be defined first and because I am still learning how to
interpret this term myself, I searched for a suitable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this deeper level I am trying to get at, I find John M. Reilly s article Criticism of Ethnic
Literature: Seeing the Whole Story helpful in acquiring this. He states that, the assertion of
ethnicity in literature can be made only through a procedure by which the writer resolves formal
problems... what moves from recognition of identity to creation of a strategy for handling reality
still is not literature until the individual author sustains her or his ethnic identity through a
sequence of formal choices (4). I am interpreting this to mean that as a reader of this literature, I
should see and feel throughout the story (perhaps subtlety) that in some way, the characters
mindset (and perhaps actions) in the story differ from my own specifically because of the culture
they have grown up in in, which has shaped that character s thinking. There are thoughts and
feelings ideas, I don t understand without further explanation from the author, which is sometimes
provided, and sometimes not. An example of this is in Brando Skyhorse s novel The Madonnas of
Echo Park, I find myself wondering what the significance of the jacaranda trees mentioned in
different parts of the book. Looking up what they are, it becomes apparent to me as jacaranda trees

The European Parliament s Quest For Limit Its Market Control
Perhaps the most critical approach to Google s position has been the European Parliament s quest
to limit its market control. The company, which controls over 90% of searches in many European
countries, has faced a number of legal challenges from the European Parliament in recent years.
The European Union is known for its criticism of antitrust probes it challenged Microsoft s
position as a market leader a few years ago. It has since turned its attention towards Google and
criticised the search giant for abusing its market position.
EU has accused the company for its anticompetitive practises, claiming the company promotes its

position, the US government has sometimes accused the EU for looking after its own interests.
Nonetheless, the US Federal Trade Commission did look at antitrust complaints against Google
earlier, but decided not to pursue stronger action.
The dangers of a digital monopoly
But should digital monopolies be limited? Are there any dangers associated to companies such as
Google having such a big market share? The following are some of the dangers of a digital
monopoly and the reasons why regulators are right to keep an eye on market position.
Problems over the ownership of data
Many experts, who argue against digital monopolies, aren t necessarily concerned about the market
positions per se or their influence on the competition, but the ownership issues over data.
Companies such as Google are able to collect a vast amount of data from their users through the
different operations and use this data in order to stay ahead of other businesses.
Furthermore, many argue the company hasn t always acquired this data through appropriate
measures. For example, Google has been accused of using exclusive deals in order to attract new
customers and that some of its services collect data without its customers

Split Personality Of The Russian National Character Russian Empire, USSR, and the smaller

Turks were there, controlling a part of it. Be it the Bolsheviks or the Proletariats or the reign of

dearly for the things, which they did not even do in the past and secondly they have always been
there in their own subtle little way but never as a force to reckon with. Any guesses as to why do
that happen? The nation has been growing and building as the earlier parts of the essay suggest.
It had a lot of interaction and the growth brought in a lot of people from outside and the races
mixed and there were hybrids. So it is not and it never was one nation. There were a lot of nations
within that single nation and that is what made it all the more complex. There was no single
driving force and there was nothing to unite the. No religion commonality, no language as being the
same, even the origins was different. It was bound to happen that the nation would have a split
personality and it did have that. There was a lot of dichotomy in the statements made and there
was a huge consensus as to how to eliminate the differences but this was something that just was
not possibly biologically speaking. Be it music or be it the style of governance or even the type of

Chivalry In Medieval Literature
The Dark ages also know as the Middle ages were a time when medieval literature started. What is
medieval literature? It is a broad subject about all the written works available in Europe. The funny
film Monty python recreates the Arthurian stories. This film made fun of the circumstances during
Middle Ages told through the story of King Arthur( Morte d Arthur) and framed by a modern day
murder investigation. All of the knights were sent on a quest to find the Holy Grailfacing a bunch
of obstacles mentally and physically. The king of the Britons (Arthur) lead his knights through a
persistent Black Knight, Three headed giant, an old man guarding the bridge of death, a shrubbery
challenge, the Castle Anthrax (house of the virgins), rude Frenchman and a killer rabbit.
Throughout the film and story of Morte d Arthur we see themes and codes of chivalry being
mocked. We see examples of loyalty, bravery, knowledge, modesty, and honesty, which are all
expectations of knightly behavior. The knight s loyalty and bravery are constantly being tested on
their quest to find the Holy Grail. It is their duty as knights to continue on their journey and to
follow the chivalric code, but can they do it? On their quest some of the knights received same flesh
wounds and even death. On King Arthur s quest he comes across the Green Knight and the Black
Knight fighting. It is a tough and respectful battle but unfortunately the Green Knight dies. King
Arthur respected the Black Knight and wanted him to be apart of his group of the knights at the
round table. The Black Knight wonВґt let Arthur through the woods without a fight so then they
battle. We see the theme of bravery being mocked during this battle because the Black Knight
was losing but would not give up. Arthur sliced off all his limbs yet the Black Knight still wanted
to keep going. Bravery is being mocked here because knights would fight to the death which was
very brave. In the film they make a joke of this because the Black Knight was limbless and still
wants to fight KIng Arthur and we all know this would not happen in real life. Another obstacle the
knights run into during their journey are young women. You think young women are harmless but
they are always

Titus Andronicus Research Paper
Titus Andronicus is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in the 1590s, its structure consists
of five acts and fourteen scenes. Its major theme is revenge. The play explores the theme of
revenge by showcasing a cycle of revenge between the protagonist and antagonist of the play.
Titus s decision to sacrifice Tamora s son sparks her objective to seek revenge in which she
convinces her two sons to brutally rape and ravish Titus daughter, Lavinia, and also accuses two
of Titus s sons to be murderers which leads to their tragic death. Once Titus figures out the truth
about all of Tamora s horrid deeds, it becomes his objective to revenge Lavinia and his family, and
from there on the story becomes an even worse bloody nightmare. From beginning to end, the play

Acting:
In the Clarence Brown, 2016 live production of Titus Andronicus, the audience got to witness a
show filled with amazing actors which did an amazing job in telling the story of Titus. One
great aspect about this play is that it is very easily to detect the good characters from the bad
ones, so as an audience we have an expectation on the roles some of the actors are going to play.
It all begins with the Roman Empire having to choose new a leader, and it is up to Titus, one of

Task 1: What is so remarkable about the human brain?
A History of the Brain The Beast Within (Video 6)
The Beast Within refers to Phineas Gage who is commonly known for being one of the most
recognised patients in neuroscience as a result of his traumatic accident. His case had a great
influence on Psychology and early neurology because his observable behaviour after the incident
aided scientists in their theories of localization of brain function (Twomey, 2010).
In 1848, he suffered a devastating brain injury when an explosion caused an iron rod to pierce
through his left cheek and out through the top of his head, thus destroying his frontal lobe (Cherry,
2018). Astonishingly, he survived the incident, however his character changed profoundly.... Show

Imitation creates a defined link to cognitive control and illustrates mental capabilities. This is a
characteristic seen in both humans and animals. For example, when a child mimmicks a certain
behaviour of an adult, it can be assumed that the child is able to interpret the movement and
understand that the two behaviours correspond (Zentall, 2002). It can therefore be established that
Billie, the wild bottlenosed dolphin who was taken to the aquarium for medical treatment and learnt
the tailwalking trick through merely observing her fellow pool mates, has neurons known as mirror
neurons . This enabled a triggered mirror response to the behaviour of another. Due to the
anatomical correlation linking to the brains of both humans and animals it can be said that animals
have minds and similar cognitive capacties to those of humans (The Economist,

that just as everyone has their own unique DNA code, we also have a unique financial DNA code
made up from our environment, values, and education (Massie, 2006, p. 5). I explained how
completing a financial DNA profile would help Bill know his own unique behavioral style and

Church In The Canterbury Tales
Canterbury is an English cathedral city which was a popular pilgrimage site in the
Medieval Era. However, in the Middle Ages, the members of the clergy did not always live up to
their lofty expectations and standards. The Church s credibility, at this time, was diminishing due to
the actions of its officials. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, took this pilgrimage
and along the way met a few of these questionable clerical figures. During the
General Prologue of the work, Chaucer provides a comical representation of all the characters he
meets on his journey. His description of clerical members, such as the Monk, criticize their actions
and interests. In addition to the Monk, he meets a nun with questionable morals and a deceitful,
selfish friar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of the Nun relaxing on this principle exhibits the decline of the Church s credibility. In
addition to her lax fashion choices, the Nun spoils herself in her diet. Similar to monks, nuns
maintained a very strict lifestyle. Chaucer s Nun fails to abide with this minimalist culture when it
comes to food.
Chaucer describes her as by no means undergown which insinuates that she is not a dainty
woman like her peers (GP 160). Nuns, like monks, also prohibited the donning of jewelry or other
items personal items. Once again, the Nun fails to observe this ideal and proceeds to bear a
glaring brooch on her clothing (GP 164). In addition to this, Chaucer observes, She wore a coral
trinket on her arm which further defies the monastic code (162). Furthermore, the Nun is by no
means an upstanding member of the medieval clerical community. Chaucer s portrayal of the Nun
as a immoral and pompous figure further aids the argument of the Church s hypocrisy.
Continuing the themes of hypocrisy and corruption, Chaucer s Friar contradicts his divine position
with his deceitful actions towards society. He exploits his position in order to get

Truman Capote s The American Dream
The definition of the American Dream varies from person to person, however, its basic components
include a healthy, happy family, a sense of safety and security, and a sufficient amount of money.
People from all backgrounds strive to achieve their specific American Dream, however, actually
achieving this proves extremely difficult since the nature of the American Dream is often
unrealistic, fragile, or elusive. Many artists, authors, and poets use their art to explore or comment
on this heavy, complex topic. Specifically, Truman Capoteinvestigates the American Dream through
his work of creative nonfiction, In Cold Blood, which centers on the violent murder of a Kansas

The fact that he secretly smokes and does not live up to his own high standards reveals the
impractical nature of the perfect family. The community views the Clutters as the American
Dream family, however, Capote implies that a perfect family is an illusion. Later in his
description of the Clutter family, Capote focuses on Bonnie Clutter, the mother of both Nancy
and Kenyon Clutter and wife of Herb Clutter, and her postpartum depression, which forces her to
remain indoors and keeps her from community events. After the birth of her youngest child,
Kenyon, the mood of misery that descended never altogether lifted; it lingered like a cloud that
might rain or might not. (27) In describing the depth and intensity of Bonnie s mental illness,
Capote utilizes a simile to compare her depression to a gloomy cloud to demonstrate how just as
storms hang in the sky and create a dark, melancholy feeling so does Bonnie s depression
constantly loom over her and ruin her daily life. Although Bonnie has created a typical healthy
family, she cannot care for her family or involve herself in raising her children due to her constant,
almost crippling depression. With Bonnie s flaw, Capote shows again the unrealistic nature of an
American Dream family. Bonnie s cloud of depression prevents the Clutters from truly achieving
the family life of the American Dream. Near the end of Capote s description of the Clutter family,
he introduces

Social Mobility Of Poor Kids Should Depend On College...
Social Mobility of Poor Kids Should depend on College Education Andrew Simmons, author of the
article The Danger of Telling Poor Kids That College is the Key to Social Mobility, argues that
educators have utilized one tool in the toolbox to inspire minority students into believing that their
upward social mobilityis dependent on four years of college education. These educators only
considered the difference in earning power of college graduates versus high schoolgraduates to
buttress their argument. With so much emphasis on going to college, Simmons also contends that
the educators miss the boat and end up causing harm to the poor students. There is no denying that
poor students start from disadvantaged position compared to their white counterparts in high
school, their career parts seem to via in two different directions. Many of the poor students
gravitate towards the liberal arts colleges while the privileged kids dream of medical or law
schools and becoming future doctors and lawyers. Simmons offers the study conducted by Jean
Anyon as another example of how schools teaching poor students from low income families
emphasize keeping students busy and managing behavior, while a middle class school
deemphasizes individual expression and in depth analysis and reward the dutiful completion of
specific rote tasks. Because the educators have stressed so much on attending college, thirty two

communication, it is tempting to speculate that Cin1 regulates uptake and export of exRNA to play
a role in host pathogen interactions and pathogenesis. Because of our recent advances, we believe
we may possess an unprecedented system to probe the mechanism of pathogenesis in Cn.
C. Approach Cn is a haploid budding yeast with a well defined life cycle. It also has proven to be
a tractable research model in which classical and molecular approaches, as well as both in vitro
and in vivo models, are available for studying host pathogen interactions and pathogenesis. In
addition, genomic and proteomic approaches including microarray, whole transcriptome shotgun
sequencing (RNA Seq), and proteomics have all been employed to study pathogenesis of Cn [35
37]. This well established model organism and available research resources will be invaluable for
us to pursue our research goals.
In Cn, Cin1 is required for the endocytic transport of the lipophilic styryl dye FM4 64, normal
morphology, proper localization of a Lac1 DsRed fusion protein, mating, and the production of
capsule, urease, and phospholipases [22]. Cin1 also regulates the actin cytoskeleton upstream of the
WASp homolog Wsp1 and Cdc42 [23, 24]. This pleiotropic function is

The Generation Of Generation And Student Loan Debt
Generation X faces many issues unique to their generation, technology was advancing, and
computer were becoming more affordable and widespread. They faced both social and
ecological issues, with advances in medicine that caused the generation before them to live
longer, and being the one of the first generations to be effected by student loan debt. Generation
Xers are often known for their high level of skepticism and their what do I get out of this
attitudes. They are considered to be the first generation of latchkey kids, or kids without much
boundaries. During the 60 s and 70 s divorce rates were at an all time high, so many of the
children of this generation were exposed to large amounts of divorce (Schroer). Which might
explain for the high levels of skepticism and freedom they had. It seemed they also didn t care
much for politics sense they had the lowest voting participant rate of any other generation.
Generation Xers are often referred to as the Baby Bust generation. They were born 1965 1976,
now many Gen Xers find themselves having large amounts of responsibility. Having to take care of
the now retiring Baby Boomergeneration and the still young Millennia Generation. At this point

The World War II, And A Man
It was World War II, and a man by the name John Muller was fighting in Poland for the United
States Military against the German Military. John was in a unit that contained about fifty men.
John has not seen his family in a year and a half. John had three comrades that he grew up with
that were in his unit; Dan Macintosh, Eugene Soap, and Jim Franklin, also known as ghost from
disappearing during battle and flanking the enemy during a battle earlier in the year. They all had a
great friendship with each other, and they also had each other s backs. One day while John and

The Necklace, A Monkey s Paw, And The Gift Of Magi
The Necklace, A Monkey s Paw, and The Gift of Magi all have a distinctive technique that leads to
a deeper meaning of the story. The technique of The Necklace is represented by symbolism of the
necklace. In A Monkey s Paw, the technique that is seen is foreshadowing. In The Gift of Magi,
irony is the technique that is noticed throughout the story. All three short stories deal with the irony
of consequence. Each story involved a major decision and in each case the result of the decision
was incredibly unexpected. Through symbolism, foreshadowing, and irony the authors conclude
that what s inside the heart is far more important than material wealth. In The Necklace Mathilde is

more importantly, cost Mathilde her pride. In The Gift of Magi, Della and Jim sacrifice their
prized possessions for each other and for love. Irony is represented in this story when Della and
Jim both get each other gifts that mean a lot to each other. However, what they did not realize is
that when Della cut her hair to to buy Jim a chain for his watch, she was unaware that Jim was
going to sell his watch to buy her combs for her hair. The irony of their gift exchange is
monumental as their unconditional love for one another took over for their own personal
possession. Jim exclaims, I don t think there s anything in the way of a haircut or a shave or a
shampoo that could make me like my girl any less. But if you ll unwrap that package you may
see why you had me going a while at first. The magi which are described as wise men also
signifies irony because Della and Jim s presents were more than wise. They represented that a gift
does not need to be expensive to have value. A gift can be more meaningful just by the thought.
The Monkey s Paw, deals with a family s unwillingness to accept things as they should be. They

Comparing the Three Proposals that Elizabeth Receives in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen s novel, Pride and Prejudice, contains many opinions given by the narrator about the
characters, but the true personalities are shown in the way their feelings and words are portrayed.
Austen uses dramatic irony to allow the reader to appreciate the hidden feelings of the characters.
The unseen feelings of Elizabeth, Mr Darcy and Mr Collins are revealed to others in the novel
during the three proposals that occur.

Darcy s pride shows when they are disrespectful towards Elizabeth because they believe themselves

During Mr Collins proposal he lists his personal reasons for marriage, and why she should say yes.
He does express reasons why Elizabeth would want to marry him, but Austen shows them as
being false, which makes him seem selfish. His first reason is to set an example for his parish,
which makes him appear pompous. It is ironic because marriage is meant to prove your love for
each other, but he wants to set an example to his parish without doing loving the person he intends
to marry. Austen uses this to emphasize his unintelligence, and lack of perception. He then tells
her that it will add very greatly to his happiness. He does not mention how Elizabeth would feel,
and how he could make her happy. This proves that he is selfish and only cares for himself. The
last reason he gives, which he believes is the most important, is that it is the

The Indian Of Indian Bengal
The famous scholar M.A. Rahim has said in his The History of Bengal Muslims that, It is a matter
of great wonder that the Hindu politicians who have raised movements to protect the division of
Bengal in 1905 , have claimed for the division of Bengal in 1947.On the other hand, the Muslims
who have supported the decision of dividing Bengalin 1905 have protested against the division of
Bengal in 1947. Actually lack of solution of community disputes, lack of cordial approach of
British Government, selfishness of the politicians of two most political parties Muslim Leagueand

Seduction In The Hours And The Awakening
A shiny, crisp red fruit hangs enticingly off a lush verdant branch; a sly, seductive serpent and a
woman in the nude converse under the sacred tree, and then Eve tentatively reaches up and plucks
the juicy crimson fruit, a look of panic only reflected on her face once she realizes the gravity of
her decision. She picks the forbidden fruit and her ignorance is ripped away from her like a
newspaper on a windy day, and this single act started a trend of succumbing to temptations
throughout humanhistory. Even in the novels The Hours and The Awakening, the characters are
tempted by someone else or a different idea; however, some of these characters exhibit strong self
control and avoid their demise. The fine line between success and failure when it comes to avoiding
temptation is most obviously demonstrated by Edna Pontellier and LauraBrown, and these two
women showcase the destructive power of seductionand the strength of will it takes to deny the
enticement. The allure of the unknown is not exclusive to the female sex either, many men in the
novel also suffer from it, namely Robert Lebrun. The secret snare of temptation is interwoven
throughout the stories, and the sliver of thread can be glimpsed between the inky words. Many
different types of temptations exist in the world, but one of the most prevalent kinds is the

The Legend Of Dracula
Kostova utilizes the setting in The Historian to reinforce the legitimacy of the legend of
Dracula. The reader is taken on a journey throughout time and space all over Europe, which is
made all the more realistic by Kostova s use of imagery and sensation. There are several different
locations that are quite important to the story and establishing the history of Dracula. The location
that has the most significance is Dracula s tomb. The whole story has been geared to finally
finding Dracula s tomb, and therefore finding out whether he really is still alive. The tomb is
revealed through the letters Rossi wrote while he was there. Kostova plays on the readers senses
when describing the tomb, which makes it incredibly realistic. She uses darkness and coldness to
illustrate the fear that Rossi is feeling, being in this place with the monster that is Dracula. This
groping in dimness was terrifying, and I expected at any second to be pounced on by the Thing
that had brought me there. I wondered again if I might not actually be dead if this was some
terrible version of death, which I had momentarily mistaken for a continuation of life, (Kostova,
806). While reading this, the readercan feel exactly what Rossi is feeling in that moment, which is
due to the descriptive setting. Using the senses draws the reader in, allowing them to imagine
exactly how the character is feeling and making them feel like they are right there with the
character. Because his back was now to the fire,

Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs
Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout history, one can see
many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the
years, which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about
them. In order to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog
itself, and how to properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the
breed is known to have major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter
lifespans compared to other dog breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate
surgery in order to even breathe properly. Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs,
causing increased airway resistance. This, in the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even
death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones and joins. Chondrodysplasia, a structural
defect found in bulldogs, causes the legs in bulldogs to stop or slow down and also makes their

Comparing Hobbe s and Locke s Theories on Nature
Two books that I am going to be drawing information from for my paper are Hobbes Leviathan
and Locke s Two Treatises of Government. This essay will be focusing on the differences
between Hobbes and Locke s ideas on the state of nature. One of the biggest, and in my opinion
most important points that makes Hobbes different from Locke is his belief that the state of nature
is equal to the state of war. Thomas Hobbeswas an English philosopher, who lived between 1588
and 1679. He witnessed multiple events throughout his life that later led him to write his book
Leviathan, in 1651 once the war had ended. Hobbes witnessed the English Civil War (1642 1651),

(Hobbes PAGE NUMBER)
After that Hobbes goes on to say, The life of man is solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short.
(Hobbes) He argues that nothing is unjust in the state of nature. He believes that everyone has the
right to do anything he/she wants because in the state of nature, there is no right or wrong and
there is no law; everyone can do everything and nothing can be unjust. He says that Where there is
no common power, no law; where no law, no injustice. (Hobbes)
So all in all with Hobbes, he believes that all people are equal, therefore no power over the others
in the state can be established. Everyone is the enemy to everyone else, therefore, no on can secure
himself/herself, there is no property, and nothing is unjust. So overall, Hobbes state of nature is
very pessimistic and is not a place to survive.
Locke s idea of the state of nature is that everyone is equal to everyone. He states that, the state of
nature is also the state of equality, wherein all the power and jurisdiction is reciprocal, no one
having more than another.. (Locke) Locke however, does not think that this leads the people to
war. He thinks that the state of nature is NOT equal to the state of war, but there is a chance of it
becoming the state of war. He says that the person who committed the crime against a certain
person puts himself in the state of war with that

The Egyptian Revolution of 1919 was a countrywide non violent revolution against the British
occupation of Egypt. It was carried out by Egyptians from different walks of life in the wake of
the British ordered exile of revolutionary leader Saad Zaghlul and other members of the Wafd Party
in 1919. The event led to Egyptian independence in 1922 and the implementation of a new
constitution in 1923
The event is considered to be one of the earliest successful implementations of non violent civil
disobedience in the world and has been followed immediately by similar actions in the Indian
independence movement led by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
The 1919 revolution in Egypt consisted of months of civil disobedience against the British ... Show

This was the result of Egypt s increasing involvement in the war, despite Britain s promise to
shoulder the entire burden of the war. During the war, the British poured masses of foreign troops
into Egypt, conscripted over one and a half million Egyptians into the Labour Corps, and
requisitioned buildings, crops, and animals for the use of the army.[2] In addition, because of
allied promises during the war (such as President Wilson s Fourteen Points), Egyptian political
classes prepared for self government. By war s end the Egyptian people demanded their
independence.[3]
Events
Shortly after the First World War armistice of November 11 was concluded in Europe, a
delegation of Egyptian nationalist activists led by Saad Zaghlul made a request to High
Commissioner Reginald Wingate to end the British Protectorate in Egypt and Sudan, and gain
Egyptian representation at the next peace conference in Paris. The delegation also included Ali
Sha rawi Pasha, Abd al Aziz Fahmi Bay, Muhammad Ali Bay, Abd al Latif al Makabati Bay,
Muhammad Mahmud Pasha, Sinut Hanna Bay, Hamd Pasha al Basil, Gurg Khayyat Bay,
Mahmud Abu al Nasr Bay, Mustafa al Nahhas Bay and Dr. Hafiz Afifi Bay.[4] Meanwhile, a mass
movement for the full independence of Egypt and Sudan was being organized at a grassroots level,
using the tactics of civil disobedience. By then, Zaghlul and the Wafd Party enjoyed massive
support among the Egyptian people.[5] Wafdist

Let Her Go Poem Analysis
Many songs have very poetic lyrics and could be a great poem also. The song I chose to compare
to a poem and explain why it could stand on its own as a poem is Let Her Go by Passenger. I
chose this song because throughout the song the lyrics consist of many poetic devices. In the song,
there is use of figurative language along with an oxymoron, alliterationand assonance, and end
rhymes. The song, Let Her Go, could stand on its own as poem and make sense. There is an
oxymoron and many uses of figurative language in the song Let Her Go. Passenger uses an
oxymoron throughout the song in the chorus again, which also includes the title of the song.
The lyric that was used is, Only know you ve been high when you re feeling low . This is an
oxymoron because it contradictory terms, high and low, appear in conjunction with one
another. It is also making a comparison which will be described later. The first use of figurative
language in the song is, Everything you touch surely dies . Passenger uses a hyperbole in this
lyric by making and exaggeration and not speaking of it in realistic terms. Everything anyone
touches cannot and will not actually die, so the song writer uses their first figurative language.
The second lyric I found that used figurative language was, But dreams come slow and they go
so fast and Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast . In both lines, personification is being used.
They both describe love and dreams as people or things, saying that they go slow and fast. This is
almost as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passenger used alliteration in his lyric, Only miss the sun when it starts to snow . The repeated
use of s makes this line an alliteration as an alliteration is a sentence that uses one letter as the first
letter of multiple words in the sentence. This makes it smoother to read and listen to, making it an
important lyric to consider in making it a poem. The other device used was

Save Ended Up After Your Life
Have you ever had something happen in your life where you saw signs of it coming, but did
anything you could to help fix things? Then in the end it ended up what you were trying to fix
was not something that could be done on your behalf? No matter how hard you tried, you could
not seem to hold that which you were working so hard to hold on to, what you were trying to
save ended up dissolving quickly right before your eyes. After what you had fought for with
every ounce of strength you had, every hope you had, and every fiber of your being desiring to
not give up seems to have just shattered right before your eyes, it is near impossible to bounce
back quickly from that. For me, I have recently found just how accurate the following saying
is.... You never know what you have until you do not have it anymore. When you lose something
or someone you have tried to fight for through thick or thin, it is almost as though you want to
give up completely and not have hope things may end up being rebuilt down the road. At least
for me, I worked so hard and gave my all in order to help save something very dear to me and in
the end it felt as though it were not worth it. What I realized though is that what I had fought for
so long ended up being something I could not keep. As much as it hurts and pains me to not have
what I fought for, so much so that I want to curl up in a ball and hide from the world at times, I
also know that the hurt is in a great deal related to the fact that who I

Topic of research: The effect of dietary nitrates on weight maintenance in obese population
following a 10% weight loss
TITLE
The effect of dietary nitrates on weight maintenance in obese population following a 10% weight
loss
BACKGROUND
Dietary nitrates are inorganic inert anionic compounds in fruits, vegetables and cured meats. About
80 85% of the nitrate in our diets is derived from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We hypothesize the nitrate to have significant implication on the post weight loss RMR and
possibly cause relapsing of the weight loss.
STUDY DESIGN AND OUTCOMES
A 6 month randomized three way crossover trial consisting of three groups: 20 healthy, 20
obese, and 20 mixed participants (placebo group for nitrate supplementation)is proposed. All
groups will be screened for thyroid function, hepatitis A B and HIV).All participants will be kept
on a low nitrate weight maintenance diet formula till the weight remains constant for 2 weeks
(weight change 10 g/d). RMR is measured using indirect calorimetry. They are then fed a
hypocaloric diet(800 kcal/d) until a 10% weight loss is achieved(estimated time 12 weeks).RMR
and weight is measured again. The formula diet is reinstated and 0.1mmol/kg/d inorganic nitrate
for a period of 3 weeks is given along with it to the two groups excluding the placebo group. RMR,
plasma and salivary nitrite levels and weight changes are recorded.
SIGNIFICANCE
The only study on effect of nitrates on RMR was on healthy humans and no study has been done to
study their effect on weight maintenance. Obesity is a serious condition and long term maintenance
of target weight by obese individuals is not very successful(Wing Phelan, 2005). This study aims
study the differences in RMR changes after a nitrate rich diet between obese and healthy subjects
and see the practical implications of a reduced RMR by dietary nitrates consumption on

Museum Project
The Louvre:
The Louvre is the museum I researched, and Virgin of the Rocks is the painting I decided to
choose. The Louvre Museum is the largest in the world, and is situated in Paris, France. Around
35,000 objects are exhibited over an area of around 40 square miles. The Louvre is also the second
most visited museum in the world, trailing only the Palace Museum in China. The louvre has more
than 9 million visitors annually. (Louvre, 2016)
The museum opened to the public on August 10, 1793. At this point it only had a little over 500
paintings in its possession. Most of these works were either royal art, or confiscated church
property. During the years of 1796 until 1801, the Louvre was closed due to maintenance and
construction. Eventually, this collection was added to with contributions during the reigns of Louis
XVIII and Charles X. Furthermore, the Second French Empire helped to contribute a further 20,000
pieces to the Louvre. (Louvre, 2016)
Virgin of the Rocks:
Leonardo s painting The Virgin of the Rocks celebrates the mystery of Incarnation in portrayals of
the Virgin Mary, Christ and Saint John the Baptist. For the first time, these holy figures, bathed in a

Communication Style Of Tim Cook

/www.youtube.com/watch?v=nthFhrKqh3I). As per his communication style, he is able to
perform effectively in individual communication. However, in case of mass audience, he is unable
to perform accordingly. The reason behind performing weak in front of a mass audience is his
nervousness. In this context, he is able to manage in hiding his nervousness while delivering
speech. Apart from that, communicationstyle is not enough to create strong impact over the
listeners. The individual should also have a prompt communication skill for attracting the audience
towards the viewpoint. In case of Tim Cook, he is not that active with his physical gesture while
addressing a mass audience (Schriver, 2012).
As opined by (Hawkins Fillion, 2012), communication style of Tim Cook can be more effective
by considering some activities. The activities such as improving presentation and body language
while communicating. Apart from that, a prompt decision should be delivered with sufficient
energy. Rate of speech of Cook is very low, which probably prevents him from presenting his own
statement. On the other hand, Arnold (2014) opposed that appearance of Cook is very formal,
which is not feasible with the agenda of Steve Jobs. Jobs use to maintain his signature turtleneck
and jeans. Thus, he was able to engage the audience towards his speech by providing qualitative
materials as support. In case of Tim

The Importance Of Masculinity
Masculinity is not something given to you, but something you gain. And you gain it by winning
small battles with honor, (Norman Mailer). Masculinity holds a different meaning for everybody.
For some people it means being a male, but for others it holds a deeper meaning. For example, my
dad believes that in order to have masculinityhe must be able to fix everything. He takes on tasks
having to do with landscaping, plumbing, lighting, and even interior design; most of the time, he
says something along the lines of I can fix that in a minute or I ve just got to go get the supplies.
He then waits until my mom gets a professional to come do the task, and he claims that we did not
give him enough time to get it done. My dad, along with my other malefriends, feels that since he
is a male he needs to prove his masculinity by putting on the act of a handyman. My father went
to school at Johnson and Wales University for a degree in criminal justice. Getting a bachelor s
degree in criminal justice does not teach one how to fix the caulk in a bathtub; in spite of that,
my father attempted this task. A couple of weeks ago, I realized that the caulk in my shower had
begun to deteriorate. I informed my dad that I thought it needed to be repaired and suggested he
call a plumber. His response went a little bit like this Why do I need a plumber? That s an easy fix!
All I have to do is... He then proceeded to explain to me how he believed one would fix the caulk in
a shower. I knew

The Education System Of Pakistan
The education system in Pakistan focuses mainly on primary education however you find that a
large number of children ages 5 9 are not attending schools and it would appear that primary
system needs to enlarge if universal primary enrolment is to be achieved (Lynd, 2007). In Pakistan,
there were 14 million girls studying in basic educationin 2005, compared to 18.3 million boys. In
other words, there were over 4 million more boys than girls in basic education. This is still an
issue in Pakistan where there are more number of boys in education than girls. The disparity in
favour of boys was prevalent at all levels of basic education, with the exception of the higher
secondary level where the number of girls was very close to equal to the number of boys, which
indicates that Pakistan displays a disparity in favour of girls at this stage of education. This implies
that many more boys than girls discontinued their education after secondary schoolwith the result
that their numbers matched those of the girls in the final level.
Those that can afford to pay to go school will be able to attend better and improved education but
those in rural areas are at disadvantage as they cannot afford to let their children go to school.
Governments allow primary education to be free for all as they believe every child should be
educated however the costs for uniform, stationary, lunch and funds makes it difficult for poorer
families to actually let their children go to school. Basic

Functions of Retail Management
FUNCTIONS OF RETAIL MANAGEMENT
When attempting to start a business, having a keen understanding of the goals of management
through the main four management functions is one key to seeing success, both with the operation
and with employees. With this said, a vital part of planning of the management end will involve
three important activities.
The first stage, planning involves developing a systematic process for attaining the goals of the
organization...Leaders make change happen through planning instead of reacting to change (EntEd
2007).
The first of which will be to lay out the goals that will be set for the hypothetical sporting goods
store used as the example, the second will be to create a business plan since the development ...

It will be important for them to realize how every task they complete connects to the goals or the
business plan so there is a sense of value and something at stake. Directing will not end at this
stage or even after the business is open, it will continue to be a necessary component that I must
actively keep up with in order for this sporting goods store to succeed.
Controlling goes hand in hand with directing as it will be important for me as a manager and
owner to match the tasks delegated with the business plan and goals so that I can keep firm tabs on
how we are progressing. This not only involves monitoring of progress but being vigilant so that if
negative changes are occurring I can resolve the issue. As Richman (2006) more succinctly puts it,
when it comes to controlling, in project management terms, it involves determining variances from
the approved plan, then taking action to correct those variances.
Through my fulfilling of these four important functions of management, I would be a permissive
leader. For a small business like this sporting goods store that has a very small number of
employees and only two other managers, it is necessary to allow everyone to have an equal
hand in important decisions. While directing is a large part of my responsibility, I would still like
to allow employees and managers a great deal of leeway concerning how they perform the tasks
assigned and if those decisions on how to work are not productive, only then will

Sims 4 Essay
It s nearly midnight, children! Now sit down around the fire and I ll tell you a spooky story about
ghosts in The Sims 4... first things first:
IFrame
Spooooooky!
1. What is The Sims 4: Ghosts ?
Ghosts was one of the major 2014 updates to Sims 4. As you know, ghosts have been haunting the
Sims for a while now, tapping their spooky fingers on your shoulder when you re in the toilet,
haunting your garden, lurking around corridors. In Sims 4, they could only be non playable
characters originally. When your Sim died, a non playing character (NPC) ghost attached to a
gravestone near your Sims house and hangs out doing a bit of haunting.
2. What s different about ghosts in Sims 4?

Ghosts have some spooky abilities
The skills and abilities that ghosts have is mostly determined by how they died, and how they re
feeling. Some of the extra fun properties of ghosts (as well as a few things they can t do) are listed
below:
Ghosts have little graphics changes that reflect how they died e.g. if your ghost died of hunger,
there will be a small wispy cloud floating near its stomach. If it died by Cowplant, it will be able to
help plants grow, or kill them if it s in a bad mood!
Ghost s body colour matches their emotions. If a ghost is angry, it goes red. If it s dark blue, it sad.
A ghost who is feeling fine will be white, and a flirty ghost is a lovely shade of pink.
Ghosts can walk through the walls when they feel like it. If they don t feel like it, they won t!
Ghosts can possess objects, making them move around or break. Luckily the ghost can also repair
them!
Ghosts can t die, and they can t have children (as far as we know! happy to be proved wrong on
this one.)
You re going to kill me?! Don t make me laugh...uggh..aggh ...aaaaahhhh!
4. How do you get to be a ghost?
It s pretty obvious, but to get a ghost you have to kill a Sim. There are quite a few ways of dying,
including laughter, mortification, overexertion, hunger, old age, Cowplant, anger, fire or
electrocution. More about death

Making the Best Use of Pakistan s Natural Resources
INTRODUCTION
Pakistan is rich in natural resources. It has mountains , plains , deserts , fertile land , rivers and
oceans. Natural resources are very important to the development and prosperity of a country. The
important thing is to use them for the welfare of human beings and the development of the country
economically because the progress of a country depends entirely on the use of available resources.
Significant natural resources are described as follows :
1. Soil
Soil dry Pakistan belong to group having high carbonate and calcium poor in organic matter.
These vary in color from reddish brown in the north to the red or gray in the south. These soils
are generally fertile due to training. The barrage of new stores near the river called Khaddar and
mostly consists of sand . The old bar alluvial plateau, called Bangar , consists of finer particles
loams . At the foot of the mountains the soil is sandy and generally becomes thinner towards the
plains where Khankah , the concentration of limestone is occasionally . The soils of the deserts of
Thal and Thar and Balochistan are carried by the wind. In southern Potwar is a thin layer of
residual floor coating .
2.Water
Water is a basic necessity of life . Human beings , animals and plants can not live without water.
Water is essential for maintaining the quality of life on earth . This finite commodity has a direct
impact on almost all sectors of the economy. In Pakistan its importance is more than ordinary

Albert Ellis Irrational Beliefs
To cope with this, I will apply Albert Ellis methods of identifying irrational beliefs, disputing
beliefs, rational beliefs, and their overall effects. In regards to irrational beliefs, as few I can
identify as having held were: She s an adult, she should know better, This makes me shrink, I hate
feeling like I m less, and She s overvaluing her position in the family. Ellis then asks us to dispute
those irrational beliefs and see where holding them gets us (Engler, 2009. I realized that by holding
her to the standard that she is an adult and should know better does not mean that she really does
know better. It can be helpful to understand that not every adult is at the same place of emotional

Exploring the Works of D.H. Lawrence Essay
Sometimes man makes more sense to man when he looks like an animal or another man, or a
woman, or just anything other than himself. The human being is the strangest of all animals,
because of the phenomenon called thought. Reaching beyond our personal capsule of life might
make us completely free. Such is the manictruth, the reflection of himself, that D.H. Lawrence
thrusts forward in the collections of essays entitled Phoenix and Phoenix II. The processes of his
mind invite inquiry. To Lawrence, conversation with a person is seldom the best way to know that
person. Rather, we come to know a person more fully by a process of reading him absorbing the
subtleties of his life, and extrapolating these into a portrait of his mind. In... Show more content on

Lawrence s movement of ideas from dulled English voices to bursting English egos reveals within
him a power of perception that pervades all of his essays, a power that manifests itself in an endless
parade of what I will call his assertions. In the traditional way of discerning things, people reach
conclusions based on observations bolstered by damning evidence. Lawrence often leaves the
terrain of this last stipulation the damning evidence totally untraveled. In Germans and English, we
see him in Florence, struck by the strange presence of the Wandervogels, the irreverent young
German tourists. He becomes positively engaged at the mere sight of these strangers; they spawn
within him an intricate dialogue that encompasses the spheres of the German, the Italian, and the
English alike. Engagements such as this one signal a trend in Lawrence s writing: they make the
essays, in large part, snapshots of D. H. Lawrence watching others watching mainly their
idiosyncrasies, their vices and bringing quick, sweeping indictments of human character.
What runs through Lawrence s body of work like a vein of thought is his sense that England
stands at the edge of demise. Scott s rhetorical question burns through him: Breathes there a man
with soul so dead? Lawrence s perception drives him to answer in the affirmative, on behalf of
every man in England the land of the darkness that

Source Reduction Goal
How it supports the source reduction goal (All explanations of how principles support source
reduction and the resulting benefits to human and environmental health are thoroughly explained
many with examples and evidence of research)
Preventing waste is the most effective way to a greener and cleaner environment as it reduces or
eliminates the existence of waste right from the source. Waste management is already a huge issue
in our world and if we approach waste management with prevention we would leave no

Catalysts are a great example of source reductions because they provide energy in a reaction
without changing the process. By lowering the temperature of the reaction and altering the pressure
used they reduce energy. Ideally, they can be used indefinitely meaning that no product is going to
waste, this means that our environment and health would be benefited greatly due to the absence
of waste. Unlike stoichiometric reagents, catalysts do not generate waste, give more control on
reaction such as reducing unwanted side products and can carry out a reaction more than once,
increasing efficiency of product.. Also they can be used in small amounts to speed up reaction
processes, so other forms of energy would not be needed such as fossil

  • 2. Benefits Of Early Childhood Education Essay Kendall Blaich Mr. Bergmann AP English 8 September 2015 Benefits of Early Childhood Education The earlier you enrich a child s life with an education, the greater the outcome will be in the future. Parents are the first teachers of young children. Children acquire their knowledge and actions from observing their parents. That is how their minds develop and how they obtain certain skills. They learn the basis of reading and writing skills at young ages. Having an early education helps later down the road with saving money. Early Childhood Education leads to social and emotional development, increased literacy, and fiscal savings. The first outcome of early childhood Education is social and emotional development. The key to a critical foundation for lifelong learning and development is positive social and emotional development (Social Emotional Development). Having a high education is one of the largest factors for saving money and helping the economy. Children with a higher literacy rate pay fewer taxes, earn more money, and are less susceptible to commit a crime (Calman and Tarr Whelan 2). By being educated you save money and with that money they are able to buy things they want, which boost the economy. Children that have an early education save time and money by not needing extra or special classes that can be costly (Calman and Tarr Whelan 4). As a result of the stability of their economies and the high liquidity that they have. It has been stated in this report that, the Gulf region is in high quality situation and is unlikely to change this condition. If it is believed that there is any risk because of the war in Iran, the projects will be retreated. Many of the foreign capital aim to enter Gulf region for investing and financing, especially from international banks, because of the economic and high commercial growth in these countries (Aleqt, 2007). If Williams Sonoma continues with its present strategies and objectives, where will it be in 5 years? Given today s economy, and the bleak economic outlook, I do not believe Williams Sonoma will continue to exist with its current strategies and objectives to serve its below target market consumers. Bottom line is many consumers cannot afford the products being sold by the company. Although, the company s target market is in the 10% of wealthiest consumers, and had total earnings of over 3.5 billion. (2010 shareholders meeting). I would consider lowering price points so I could tap into the more than 10% of consumers without becoming Wal Mart . Now the company did do something to increase its position that I found useful. That was to decrease its overall lease space by 2%. (2010 shareholders meeting). This reduction in retail occupancy costs attributed to the 1 billion dollars the company enjoyed last year. I would also consider expanding the company s customer base by broadening the product line to similar to Home Goods or Bed Bath and beyond who currently double the revenue of Williams Sonoma. (Redistribute assets earmarked for traditional cataloging to online accesses. Not only will this save money, but will also impact paper usage. I believe advertising in this was has all but outlived its usefulness. 3. Describe the competitive strategies used by each of Williams Sonoma s competitors. Which of these are most effective? Williams Sonoma has six major competitors plus one more in their market. The company holds only 7.9% market share (FY10) to main competitor Bed, Bath and Beyond with an astonishing 34.4%. Essay on Ethnic Literature The Power in a Name The term ethnic when in conjunction with the word literature in the academic discourse community of students, often brings out mixed feelings of excitement and dread. On the one hand, students understand that they will be getting away from the canonical American literature which can equal boring in their eyes; on the other hand, students interpret the term ethnic literature to mean distinctive which can equal confusing or ambiguous and perhaps at times not relatable because it is outside their scope of experiences. Perhaps before jumping into why it matters, the term ethnic literature should be defined first and because I am still learning how to interpret this term myself, I searched for a suitable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this deeper level I am trying to get at, I find John M. Reilly s article Criticism of Ethnic Literature: Seeing the Whole Story helpful in acquiring this. He states that, the assertion of ethnicity in literature can be made only through a procedure by which the writer resolves formal problems... what moves from recognition of identity to creation of a strategy for handling reality still is not literature until the individual author sustains her or his ethnic identity through a sequence of formal choices (4). I am interpreting this to mean that as a reader of this literature, I should see and feel throughout the story (perhaps subtlety) that in some way, the characters mindset (and perhaps actions) in the story differ from my own specifically because of the culture they have grown up in in, which has shaped that character s thinking. There are thoughts and feelings ideas, I don t understand without further explanation from the author, which is sometimes provided, and sometimes not. The company, which controls over 90% of searches in many European countries, has faced a number of legal challenges from the European Parliament in recent years. The European Union is known for its criticism of antitrust probes it challenged Microsoft s position as a market leader a few years ago. The dangers of a digital monopoly But should digital monopolies be limited? Are there any dangers associated to companies such as Google having such a big market share? The following are some of the dangers of a digital monopoly and the reasons why regulators are right to keep an eye on market position. Problems over the ownership of data Many experts, who argue against digital monopolies, aren t necessarily concerned about the market positions per se or their influence on the competition, but the ownership issues over data. Companies such as Google are able to collect a vast amount of data from their users through the different operations and use this data in order to stay ahead of other businesses. • 8. Chivalry In Medieval Literature The Dark ages also know as the Middle ages were a time when medieval literature started. What is medieval literature? It is a broad subject about all the written works available in Europe. The funny film Monty python recreates the Arthurian stories. This film made fun of the circumstances during Middle Ages told through the story of King Arthur( Morte d Arthur) and framed by a modern day murder investigation. All of the knights were sent on a quest to find the Holy Grailfacing a bunch of obstacles mentally and physically. The king of the Britons (Arthur) lead his knights through a persistent Black Knight, Three headed giant, an old man guarding the bridge of death, a shrubbery challenge, the Castle Anthrax (house of the virgins), rude Frenchman and a killer rabbit. Throughout the film and story of Morte d Arthur we see themes and codes of chivalry being mocked. We see examples of loyalty, bravery, knowledge, modesty, and honesty, which are all expectations of knightly behavior. The knight s loyalty and bravery are constantly being tested on their quest to find the Holy Grail. It is their duty as knights to continue on their journey and to follow the chivalric code, but can they do it? On their quest some of the knights received same flesh wounds and even death. On King Arthur s quest he comes across the Green Knight and the Black Knight fighting. It is a tough and respectful battle but unfortunately the Green Knight dies. King Arthur respected the Black Knight and wanted him to be apart of his group of the knights at the round table. The Black Knight wonВґt let Arthur through the woods without a fight so then they battle. We see the theme of bravery being mocked during this battle because the Black Knight was losing but would not give up. Arthur sliced off all his limbs yet the Black Knight still wanted to keep going. Bravery is being mocked here because knights would fight to the death which was very brave. In the film they make a joke of this because the Black Knight was limbless and still wants to fight KIng Arthur and we all know this would not happen in real life. Acting: In the Clarence Brown, 2016 live production of Titus Andronicus, the audience got to witness a show filled with amazing actors which did an amazing job in telling the story of Titus. A History of the Brain The Beast Within (Video 6) The Beast Within refers to Phineas Gage who is commonly known for being one of the most recognised patients in neuroscience as a result of his traumatic accident. His case had a great influence on Psychology and early neurology because his observable behaviour after the incident aided scientists in their theories of localization of brain function (Twomey, 2010). In 1848, he suffered a devastating brain injury when an explosion caused an iron rod to pierce through his left cheek and out through the top of his head, thus destroying his frontal lobe (Cherry, 2018). It can therefore be established that Billie, the wild bottlenosed dolphin who was taken to the aquarium for medical treatment and learnt the tailwalking trick through merely observing her fellow pool mates, has neurons known as mirror neurons . • 14. Church In The Canterbury Tales Canterbury is an English cathedral city which was a popular pilgrimage site in the Medieval Era. However, in the Middle Ages, the members of the clergy did not always live up to their lofty expectations and standards. The Church s credibility, at this time, was diminishing due to the actions of its officials. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, took this pilgrimage and along the way met a few of these questionable clerical figures. During the General Prologue of the work, Chaucer provides a comical representation of all the characters he meets on his journey. His description of clerical members, such as the Monk, criticize their actions and interests. In addition to the Monk, he meets a nun with questionable morals and a deceitful, selfish friar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of the Nun relaxing on this principle exhibits the decline of the Church s credibility. In addition to her lax fashion choices, the Nun spoils herself in her diet. Similar to monks, nuns maintained a very strict lifestyle. Chaucer s Nun fails to abide with this minimalist culture when it comes to food. Chaucer describes her as by no means undergown which insinuates that she is not a dainty woman like her peers (GP 160). Nuns, like monks, also prohibited the donning of jewelry or other items personal items. Once again, the Nun fails to observe this ideal and proceeds to bear a glaring brooch on her clothing (GP 164). In addition to this, Chaucer observes, She wore a coral trinket on her arm which further defies the monastic code (162). Furthermore, the Nun is by no means an upstanding member of the medieval clerical community. Chaucer s portrayal of the Nun as a immoral and pompous figure further aids the argument of the Church s hypocrisy. Continuing the themes of hypocrisy and corruption, Chaucer s Friar contradicts his divine position with his deceitful actions towards society. He exploits his position in order to get ... • 16. Truman Capote s The American Dream The definition of the American Dream varies from person to person, however, its basic components include a healthy, happy family, a sense of safety and security, and a sufficient amount of money. People from all backgrounds strive to achieve their specific American Dream, however, actually achieving this proves extremely difficult since the nature of the American Dream is often unrealistic, fragile, or elusive. Many artists, authors, and poets use their art to explore or comment on this heavy, complex topic. Specifically, Truman Capoteinvestigates the American Dream through his work of creative nonfiction, In Cold Blood, which centers on the violent murder of a Kansas family in the 1950 s. After interviewing law enforcement officers,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that he secretly smokes and does not live up to his own high standards reveals the impractical nature of the perfect family. The community views the Clutters as the American Dream family, however, Capote implies that a perfect family is an illusion. Later in his description of the Clutter family, Capote focuses on Bonnie Clutter, the mother of both Nancy and Kenyon Clutter and wife of Herb Clutter, and her postpartum depression, which forces her to remain indoors and keeps her from community events. After the birth of her youngest child, Kenyon, the mood of misery that descended never altogether lifted; it lingered like a cloud that might rain or might not. (27) In describing the depth and intensity of Bonnie s mental illness, Capote utilizes a simile to compare her depression to a gloomy cloud to demonstrate how just as storms hang in the sky and create a dark, melancholy feeling so does Bonnie s depression constantly loom over her and ruin her daily life. Although Bonnie has created a typical healthy family, she cannot care for her family or involve herself in raising her children due to her constant, almost crippling depression. With Bonnie s flaw, Capote shows again the unrealistic nature of an American Dream family. Bonnie s cloud of depression prevents the Clutters from truly achieving the family life of the American Dream. Near the end of Capote s description of the Clutter family, he introduces ... Social Mobility of Poor Kids Should depend on College Education Andrew Simmons, author of the article The Danger of Telling Poor Kids That College is the Key to Social Mobility, argues that educators have utilized one tool in the toolbox to inspire minority students into believing that their upward social mobilityis dependent on four years of college education. These educators only considered the difference in earning power of college graduates versus high schoolgraduates to buttress their argument. With so much emphasis on going to college, Simmons also contends that the educators miss the boat and end up causing harm to the poor students. There is no denying that poor students start from disadvantaged position compared to their white counterparts in high school, their career parts seem to via in two different directions. Many of the poor students gravitate towards the liberal arts colleges while the privileged kids dream of medical or law schools and becoming future doctors and lawyers. Simmons offers the study conducted by Jean Anyon as another example of how schools teaching poor students from low income families emphasize keeping students busy and managing behavior, while a middle class school deemphasizes individual expression and in depth analysis and reward the dutiful completion of specific rote tasks. Because the educators have stressed so much on attending college, thirty two percent of students end up with a major they never intended to, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He also has associated himself with other bandits, which allows him to team up with them to work on certain tasks that he wants done. • 34. Seduction In The Hours And The Awakening A shiny, crisp red fruit hangs enticingly off a lush verdant branch; a sly, seductive serpent and a woman in the nude converse under the sacred tree, and then Eve tentatively reaches up and plucks the juicy crimson fruit, a look of panic only reflected on her face once she realizes the gravity of her decision. She picks the forbidden fruit and her ignorance is ripped away from her like a newspaper on a windy day, and this single act started a trend of succumbing to temptations throughout humanhistory. Even in the novels The Hours and The Awakening, the characters are tempted by someone else or a different idea; however, some of these characters exhibit strong self control and avoid their demise. The fine line between success and failure when it comes to avoiding temptation is most obviously demonstrated by Edna Pontellier and LauraBrown, and these two women showcase the destructive power of seductionand the strength of will it takes to deny the enticement. The allure of the unknown is not exclusive to the female sex either, many men in the novel also suffer from it, namely Robert Lebrun. The secret snare of temptation is interwoven throughout the stories, and the sliver of thread can be glimpsed between the inky words. Many different types of temptations exist in the world, but one of the most prevalent kinds is the temptation of another human being. • 35. The Legend Of Dracula Kostova utilizes the setting in The Historian to reinforce the legitimacy of the legend of Dracula. The reader is taken on a journey throughout time and space all over Europe, which is made all the more realistic by Kostova s use of imagery and sensation. There are several different locations that are quite important to the story and establishing the history of Dracula. The location that has the most significance is Dracula s tomb. The whole story has been geared to finally finding Dracula s tomb, and therefore finding out whether he really is still alive. The tomb is revealed through the letters Rossi wrote while he was there. Kostova plays on the readers senses when describing the tomb, which makes it incredibly realistic. She uses darkness and coldness to illustrate the fear that Rossi is feeling, being in this place with the monster that is Dracula. This groping in dimness was terrifying, and I expected at any second to be pounced on by the Thing that had brought me there. I wondered again if I might not actually be dead if this was some terrible version of death, which I had momentarily mistaken for a continuation of life, (Kostova, 806). While reading this, the readercan feel exactly what Rossi is feeling in that moment, which is due to the descriptive setting. Using the senses draws the reader in, allowing them to imagine exactly how the character is feeling and making them feel like they are right there with the character. • 36. Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout history, one can see many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the years, which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about them. In order to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog itself, and how to properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the breed is known to have major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter lifespans compared to other dog breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate surgery in order to even breathe properly. Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs, causing increased airway resistance. This, in the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones and joins. • 37. Comparing Hobbe s and Locke s Theories on Nature Two books that I am going to be drawing information from for my paper are Hobbes Leviathan and Locke s Two Treatises of Government. This essay will be focusing on the differences between Hobbes and Locke s ideas on the state of nature. One of the biggest, and in my opinion most important points that makes Hobbes different from Locke is his belief that the state of nature is equal to the state of war. Thomas Hobbeswas an English philosopher, who lived between 1588 and 1679. He witnessed multiple events throughout his life that later led him to write his book Leviathan, in 1651 once the war had ended. Hobbes witnessed the English Civil War (1642 1651), the interregnum period of Englandstarting in 1649, and the hardest of them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Hobbes PAGE NUMBER) After that Hobbes goes on to say, The life of man is solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short. (Hobbes) He argues that nothing is unjust in the state of nature. He believes that everyone has the right to do anything he/she wants because in the state of nature, there is no right or wrong and there is no law; everyone can do everything and nothing can be unjust. He says that Where there is no common power, no law; where no law, no injustice. (Hobbes) So all in all with Hobbes, he believes that all people are equal, therefore no power over the others in the state can be established. Everyone is the enemy to everyone else, therefore, no on can secure himself/herself, there is no property, and nothing is unjust. So overall, Hobbes state of nature is very pessimistic and is not a place to survive. Locke s idea of the state of nature is that everyone is equal to everyone. He states that, the state of nature is also the state of equality, wherein all the power and jurisdiction is reciprocal, no one having more than another.. (Locke) Locke however, does not think that this leads the people to war. He thinks that the state of nature is NOT equal to the state of war, but there is a chance of it becoming the state of war. The event led to Egyptian independence in 1922 and the implementation of a new constitution in 1923 The event is considered to be one of the earliest successful implementations of non violent civil disobedience in the world and has been followed immediately by similar actions in the Indian independence movement led by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The song I chose to compare to a poem and explain why it could stand on its own as a poem is Let Her Go by Passenger. I chose this song because throughout the song the lyrics consist of many poetic devices. In the song, there is use of figurative language along with an oxymoron, alliterationand assonance, and end rhymes. The song, Let Her Go, could stand on its own as poem and make sense. There is an oxymoron and many uses of figurative language in the song Let Her Go. Passenger uses an oxymoron throughout the song in the chorus again, which also includes the title of the song. The lyric that was used is, Only know you ve been high when you re feeling low . This is an oxymoron because it contradictory terms, high and low, appear in conjunction with one another. It is also making a comparison which will be described later. The first use of figurative language in the song is, Everything you touch surely dies . Passenger uses a hyperbole in this lyric by making and exaggeration and not speaking of it in realistic terms. Everything anyone touches cannot and will not actually die, so the song writer uses their first figurative language. The second lyric I found that used figurative language was, But dreams come slow and they go so fast and Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast . In both lines, personification is being used. They both describe love and dreams as people or things, saying that they go slow and fast. This is almost as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then in the end it ended up what you were trying to fix was not something that could be done on your behalf? No matter how hard you tried, you could not seem to hold that which you were working so hard to hold on to, what you were trying to save ended up dissolving quickly right before your eyes. After what you had fought for with every ounce of strength you had, every hope you had, and every fiber of your being desiring to not give up seems to have just shattered right before your eyes, it is near impossible to bounce back quickly from that. For me, I have recently found just how accurate the following saying is.... You never know what you have until you do not have it anymore. When you lose something or someone you have tried to fight for through thick or thin, it is almost as though you want to give up completely and not have hope things may end up being rebuilt down the road. At least for me, I worked so hard and gave my all in order to help save something very dear to me and in the end it felt as though it were not worth it. What I realized though is that what I had fought for so long ended up being something I could not keep. As much as it hurts and pains me to not have what I fought for, so much so that I want to curl up in a ball and hide from the world at times, I also know that the hurt is in a great deal related to the fact that who I ... Masculinity holds a different meaning for everybody. For some people it means being a male, but for others it holds a deeper meaning. For example, my dad believes that in order to have masculinityhe must be able to fix everything. He takes on tasks having to do with landscaping, plumbing, lighting, and even interior design; most of the time, he says something along the lines of I can fix that in a minute or I ve just got to go get the supplies. He then waits until my mom gets a professional to come do the task, and he claims that we did not give him enough time to get it done. My dad, along with my other malefriends, feels that since he is a male he needs to prove his masculinity by putting on the act of a handyman. The Education System Of Pakistan The education system in Pakistan focuses mainly on primary education however you find that a large number of children ages 5 9 are not attending schools and it would appear that primary system needs to enlarge if universal primary enrolment is to be achieved (Lynd, 2007). In Pakistan, there were 14 million girls studying in basic educationin 2005, compared to 18.3 million boys. In other words, there were over 4 million more boys than girls in basic education. This is still an issue in Pakistan where there are more number of boys in education than girls. The disparity in favour of boys was prevalent at all levels of basic education, with the exception of the higher secondary level where the number of girls was very close to equal to the number of boys, which indicates that Pakistan displays a disparity in favour of girls at this stage of education. This implies that many more boys than girls discontinued their education after secondary schoolwith the result that their numbers matched those of the girls in the final level. Those that can afford to pay to go school will be able to attend better and improved education but those in rural areas are at disadvantage as they cannot afford to let their children go to school. Lawrence often leaves the terrain of this last stipulation the damning evidence totally untraveled.
