Defining Services
Services are about the economic activities offered by one party to another.
On the other hand is about exchange for the customer money, time, and effort, service customers
expect to obtain value from access to goods, labor, facilities, environments, professional skills,
networks, and systems; but they do not normally take ownership of any of the physical elements

To compete successfully in markets where products are the same or very similar, and prices are
basically the same, so the customer service is often the only competitive advantage available.
Many companies will do the survey, they will ask the customer need and they want the company
will focus on customer satisfying service or goods producing process, the customer s answers is
want to focus in customer satisfying service. such as the company will have some training
programme to give the staff.
Now more people want the company can provide a good service more than a goods producing

happy for their shopping. After their shopping, if some people feel this company have a good
service, they would recommend to their friend. I think this can effectively to promote their

Chemical And Biological Properties Of Soil Pollution
It is always difficult to remove contaminations from soils because it contains many toxic chemicals
such as (Pb, As, Cu, Cd, Cr, Ni, Hg and Zn). This chemicals mixed with the soil after burning of
industrial waste, electronics waste or uses of agricultural technology. Then rain water makes it seep
deep into the soiland cause soil pollution. This makes it so difficult and time consuming to remove,
particularly when the affected area is on a large scale. Soil is made of by two components which
are organic and inorganic solid constituent, water and mixture of different gasses present in various
proportions. The mineral component in the soil varies, according to the parent material which the
soils had been developed due to the issue of different type of climate conditions. Also, soil can also
be classified into three different properties, physical, chemical and biological properties. Physical
properties of soil are being controlled by soil water movement, such as texture and soil structures.
The soil moisture have high tendency in controlling solute movement, salt solubility, chemical
reaction and microbiological activities and most importantly the bioavailability of metal ions. In
this situation, a successful phytoremediationprogram must be considered as an alternative in the
specific site. In the past lots of researchers have tried different method in order to mitigate or
reclaim the heavy metals polluted soils, but so far phytoremediation is the best of all because it is

Listeria Monocytogenes Essay examples
Listeria monocytogenes can cause a food borne illness called Listeriosis. (Murano 2003) This
bacterium can be found in soil and water. (Murano 2003) Unlike many other germs, it can grow in
cold temperatures such as the refrigerator. Listeria monocytogenes can be killed by pasteurization
and cooking. (Murano 2003)
Some foods that are typically contaminate by Listeria monocytogenes are a variety of raw foods,
processed foods and foods made from unpasteurized milk. Vegetables can become contaminated
from the soil or from manure used as fertilizer. (Murano 2003)
The time between ingestion and the onset of symptoms for Listeriosis ranges from three to 70 days
and averages 21 days. (Murano 2003)

On October 10 2010, the Texas Department of State Health Services ordered Sangar Fresh Cut
Produce in San Antonio to stop processing food and recalls all of its products that were shipped
from the plant since January. (Roos 2010) The order took affect after several laboratory tests of
chopped celery from the plant indicated the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. There were 6
cases of Listeriosis that were linked to chopped celery from the Sangar plant from the investigation.
(Williams 2010) The illnesses occurred in Bear, Travis and Hidalgo counties and were in people
with serious underlying health problems. The investigations also concluded that the plant had a
sanitation problem. The order prohibits the plant from reopening without the Department s
approval. This outbreak unfortunately sickened 10 and killed 5. (Williams 2010)
Listeriosis caused by Listeria monocytogenes is a controllable food borne illness but given that the
consumer is very cautious about what they eat and follow simple techniques to help prevent the
onset of it.

Law School Scandal
Addendum
I would like to take this opportunity to respectfully make the Admissions Committee aware of the
extenuating circumstances surrounding my academic dismissal from New York Law School.
I was granted admission to New York Law School in the fall of 2012. Unfortunately, I was
academically dismissed from NYLS for academic deficiency after my first semester. Life events
beyond my control adversely affected my overall academic performance. In the months following
my law school admission to NYLS, my mother s health condition began to deteriorate rapidly. She
experienced a variety of symptoms such as weight loss, anxiety, elevated liver enzymes, jaundice
of the skin and eyes, swelling, nausea and vomiting after meals, mild fevers, loss of ... Show more

I resumed my legal education at Florida A M UniversityCollege of Law, but sadly disaster struck
again. I, once again, was dismissed from law school after my first semester. This time, my
mother s health had nothing to do with my dismissal from law school. A different type of life
event, a case of infidelity, adversely affected my overall academic performance. As a man who
is a true gentleman, I will not provide much context or detail about the nature of the infidelity. I
relocated to Florida along with my ex fiancГ©e. Apparently, she became enamored with another
man who lived in the same complex building we lived in. I found out of her unfaithfulness days
before review session week. One afternoon, I decided not to remain in the law library, as
accustomed, and go home early to study; and the worst case scenario, you can imagine,
occurred. Words cannot express what I felt when I discovered my ex fiancГ©e with her lover in
my apartment. This experience was perhaps one of, if not, the most excruciatingly painful
experiences I have ever endured. After this event, which happened days before review session
week commenced, I was not able to remain focused enough to continue with my studies; and did
not function the way I wanted to. Frankly, I was in an absent minded state, my mind was filled
with multiple thoughts, doubts, and questions, I was emotionally distraught and dealt with a
variety of emotions ranging from grief, insecurity, and embarrassment to guilt; and instead of
focusing on my studies I became more concerned with trying to figure out what had gone wrong
in my relationship. As a result, I missed classes, group study meetings, and review sessions prior
to finals; and consequently, I underperformed and paid the price, as I was academically dismissed
from FAMU College of Law at the end of the semester. Believe you me, I am not the

A Web Application Against Hacking
In today s complicated world of internet security, securing a website or a web application against
hacking is a major task faced by all organization. Aside from static website, webpages have
morphed into complex dynamic sites that utilizes vast resources and APIs, all the while
communicating with database in real time and also that stores millions of its customers
information. Among the various forms of attack techniques employed by hackers, Cross Site

Every organization consume different forms of technology to take advantage of increased
productivity and reduced cost and have a presence in the internet world through website and web
application. Over the last two decades, static websites that only contain information has evolved
into dynamic web sites that accepts user input and performs action based on the input given.
Dynamic web application is developed and deployed to provide immediate services and increase
the customer base through means of world wide web. Tasks like accepting user details and storing
/retrieving from database are evolving according to business need to grow. As new and powerful
HTML tags, scripting functions, asynchronous JavaScript and XML(AJAX) technologies help web
development to produce versatile web application, vulnerabilities and shortcomings are exploited
by hackers to compromise both innocent client and company property. The growing trend of
increasing attacks through Cross Site Scripting (XSS) and SQL Injection methods lends itself to
the effectiveness of damage caused by such attacks, inherent weakness found in client side scripting
languages likes of JavaScript and direct open connection to the SQL data servers.
Started in the later half of 1990s and early days of web site building, Cross Site Scripting (XSS)
are security vulnerability that targets the scripts (HTML and JavaScript) that are embedded in

Chaucer And The Roman Catholic Church
Chaucer and the Roman Catholic Church
In the years of the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church reigned. It not only influenced
people s lives, but in some ways led them. From what they believed, how they treated women,
how they worked, and how they prayed, the Roman Catholic Church obviously had a large
influence. We know this today by simply reading the reading the literature from that period,
whether it is simple poems like Beowulf or Dream of the Rood, or bigger stories such as Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight. These stories are riddled with Catholic teachings and mentions,
whether they re brought up in a good light, or a negative one. Oddly enough, we rarely see the
latter. One of the few stories that do show Roman Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As the Wife explains, she used her sexual power to dominate her husbands. In an essay put out
by Portland state University, it says that In the Middle Ages, many members of the Church
began to see sex and lust as a sin created by The Fall. This is further shown in Scripture itself in
many places, one of them being 2 Corinthians 12:21: I am afraid that when I come again my God
will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not
repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged. 2 Corinthians
12:21
Another, shorter verse, would be Ephesians 5: 3: But among you there must not be even a hint of
sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God s holy
people. Ephesians 5:3
The Wife of Bath, though she was of the Roman Catholic Church herself, went against this. Her
argument in justifying herself is simply this: there are plenty of people in the Bible that used their
sexual power to dominate others, such as David, Solomon, and many others. If they could do it,
why couldn t she? Giving such an argument, she twists the very Scripture that the Church teaches.
The question then is, if she was in the Catholic Church, why was she allowed to continue with her
sexual dealings? With this character, Chaucer hints at a small corruption in the Church, that there
were people who as members of it, were allowed to live in horrid sins

Keith Jones In Philadelphia Sport
Philadelphia is notorious for being an extremely tough sports town. One day, the fan base can
think you are the best player in your league, then the next they re calling for your head and
sending you on a bus right out of town. In order to succeed in Philly, you need to be a great
athlete and you have to be consistent. Nobody succeeds in Philly by just being average . However,
No one in the history of Philadelphiasports has made a successful career off of being an average
player better than... . Who comes to mind? Jason Avant? Carlos Ruiz? Samuel Dalembert? Well the
answer is no, no, and no. The answer is Keith Jonesy Jones.
Now, some of you might be asking yourself, who the heck is Keith Jones? Keith Jones was a
forward for the Philadelphia flyers from 1998 2001. Starting from the beginning, Keith Jones was
born on November 8th, 1968 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Keith Jones, like any boy growing up

The city of Philadelphia is a hard working town that likes athletes that put their noses to the

Jonesy also had to do the fighting, and through this he showed his grit by never backing down.
Also, Philly is considered the city of brotherly love so for example, Philadelphians are nice to their
neighbors (however there is the occasional argument or feud between neighbors) and
Philadelphians like to think they are better than the rich snobs from new york, or the classless

Led Zep Stairway To Heaven
Led Zep Stairway testimony results in win
Members of Led Zeppelin are feeling a whole lotta love for members of a Los Angeles jury who
ruled in favor of the British rockers in a court case claiming copyright infringement. Allegations
were that the group s signature song Stairway to Heaven was built on a ripped off riff from 60s
psychedelic band Spirit.
Testimony from band members and Stairway writers, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, along with
testimony from bandmate John Paul Jones were key in helping the jury come to a decision in the
case.
Plant lightened the mood in the courtroom on one occasion when Francis Malofiy, the attorney

members of Led Zeppelin, accusing them of selective memory regarding their activities of more

Big Bad Wolf Persuasive Essay
Eating is a necessary commodity. Every living being has to eat in order to stay alive. In fact,
you can only survive about 3 weeks without eating. Many animals don t receive backlash for the
food they eat because, even us, human beings understand that it s necessary to obtain proteins.
However, the Big, Bad Wolf will always be unfairly criticized for eating pigs. Even though
society views the wolf as malicious, that is very far from the truth as proven in sources B, C,
and H because the wolf deserves to eat food as much as the pigs do. You re obliged to feed
yourself as much as any person or animal is. Food is such an essential item you could say that
everyone deserves to eat. However, many tried to verbally attack the wolf in his decision of
eating the pigs. Nevertheless, you re right, nobody should take accountability because wolves
[decide to] eat cute animals (Source B). I m sure, If cheeseburgers were cute, folks would

Elizabeth Barrett Browning Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born in 1806 in County Durham, England. She was the eldest of
twelve children born to Edward Barrett Moulin Barrett and Mary Graham Clarke. Elizabeth
Barrett Browning, or Ba , grew up in her family s estate Hope End, Henfordshire. They were part of
the upper middle class, owning a successful sugar trade.
Elizabeth began writing at a very early age. When she was twelve her father had her first epic
poem The Battle of Marathon privately printed (Radley 15). She referred to this work as Pope s
Homer done over again, or rather undone (28). Her diary at this time in her life offered glimpses
into her perceptive and expressive writing style.

Elizabeth suffered from many illnesses at this time. In 1838 her Uncle Samuel Barrett died and left
her an inheritance substantial enough to provide her with living expenses. The following year her
favorite brother Samuel nicknamed Bro , drowned. Elizabeth became depressed for some time.
The 1840s saw many famous works produced by Elizabeth. Some of these include The Cry of
the Children , De Profoundest and The Dead Pan . She also published Poems. Poems contained
tributes to famous poets Elizabeth revered such as Robert Browning and Henry Wordsworth. In
1845 Elizabeth received her first letter from Robert Browning. He wrote in praise of her poetry.
They corresponded for several months, marrying in 1846. Their marriage was not welcome by her
father. Her relationship with him was never the same. The couple made their home in Florence,
Italy. In Italy, Elizabeth became interested in the country s politics. She hoped the country would
unify. She expressed this feeling in her Poems before Congress , published in 1860 (25).
In 1849, the Browning s welcomed their first and only child, Robert Wiedmeman Barrett
Browning, called Pen . A year later she produced and published Sonnets from the Portuguese, her
most famous work. The sonnets were a sequence of 44 sonnets recording the growth of her love
for Robert. He often called her my little Portuguese because of her dark complexion (Critical Poet).

The Gulag Camp System In The 1930 s
The Gulag Camp System was established in the Soviet Union during the 1930 s. These camps
forced people to do intense labor under harsh conditions. Whether large or small, each camp was
known for its brutality. During these harsh times it was hard to ignore what was going on,
however no one could prevent it from happening. People feared for their lives when the thought of
Gulags came up, as referenced in the book 1984, written by George Orwell.
The term Gulag is a Russian acronym for Glavany Upravlenie Lagerey meaning, camp . These
camps operated for two main reasons: a way to deal with prisoners and unwanted individuals; and
also helped build the infrastructure by forced labor (Hayes). During Joseph Stalin s campaign the
camps grew tremendously. The camps varied in size, however the largest camps were located in
the most extreme regions in the country. Work was mostly manual, unskilled, and inefficient.
While working in the camps, prisoners had to work for their food. The more work they did, the
more food they earned. A variety of different things led to a high death rate among the camps
(Gulag). Some people believe that Stalin began the camps, however Vladimir Lenin was the real

Edna St. Vincent Millay What My Lips Have Kissed
What my lips have kissed, and where, and why is a poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay, it was
written way ahead of its time because it talks about a very promiscuous woman in a time where
women were supposed to be submissive to their husbands. The poem involves a speaker who is
recalling her past experiences with men. Towards the end of the poem the speakerstarts to feel
regret because she is getting old and cannot participate in these activities anymore. Edna St.
Vincent Millay s, What my lips have kissed, and where, and why the speaker expresses regret of
growing old by using the ghost, winter and summer, and the tree to show her feelings. Edna St.

When she first talks about winter, she says that Thus in winter stands a lonely tree, (9). When
referring to winter, it is the season of death. The speaker is realizing that her days left is slowly
approaching an end. She then turns and references summer, I only know that summer sang in
me (13), and that in me sings no more (14). As she is talking about summer, she is also talking
about her memories of herself when she was young. This corresponds with the seasons because
in summer things are new and want to be experienced however, in winter this is the season when
everything is dying and no one wants to be a part of it. The speaker can feel this happening to
herself because she sees herself as winter, and she longs to be like summer again. In the summer
stage of her life, she is youthful, and she has men aching to be around her. However, now that she
has approached the winter stage of her life she is feeling strong feelings of regret. Thus, this
shows how she feels about herself by showing how she talks about winter and summer and how it
compares to the sorrow in her life

The Marbles And The Parthenon
For nearly 2500 years the Parthenon, located in Athens, Greece has manifested the ancient Greek
notions of justice, freedom and artistic excellence. One of the most well known artifacts that were
once on the Parthenon s exterior were the Elgin Marbles. These sacred marbles were crafted by the
well regarded Phidias, consisting of an extensive amount of Greek ideologies and exceptional
artistic impressions. The Elgin marbleswere taken from the Parthenonby Lord Elgin and brought to
Britain. Hundreds of years later, the Greeks claim these marbles were once their prized
possession, and demand the return of them. Many may wonder, why let a so called prized

other migrated artifacts, these individuals have grown to become well recognized artists and writers
from the influence of the Elgin marbles. (Hitchens, Christopher, Robert Browning, and Graham

The Elgin marbles were anticipating 3 possible outcomes; destruction by natural causes,
destruction by war, or rescued by the British. Fortunately, the marbles were saved and guarded by
the British, preventing any possible destruction. Lord Elgin did not only legally retrieve the
marbles but he had entirely good intentions as he was clearly captivated by classical Greek design.
At the time, Greece was under the rule of the Turkish Ottoman, the Turks continually defaced and
destroyed many statues in order to make mortar.(Sultan, Nancy, Illinois Wesleyan University.

Impact of Globalization on Total Quality Management
Introduction Total quality management (TQM) has been defined as continuous improvement of
every production output whether it be a product or a service, by removing inefficient variations and
by improving the backbone of the work process . International managers like their domestic
counterparts have found that incorporating the notion of total quality managementinto their
management process and style can give the competitive advantage.
A manager s decision making process regarding new or increased international operations involves
reacting to the environment, seeking competitive advantage globally and assessing the company s
capability in the global context.
Globalization makes managers ask certain questions. These questions include: ... Show more

Even though some of outcomes of globalization have been controversial, the market has become
more competitive than ever, thus creating the high demand for quality management.
The fact that globalization has expanded the market for organizations means that TQM is more
important than ever before. Customer demands are higher and if a company does not create
products and services that meet their expectations they can easily access the same or similar
products and services from another company. If managers do not implement TQM into their
company procedure then they will fail to meet the high standards of customers all over the world
and eventually lose their business. When it comes to implementing TQM, it s the mangers
responsibility to create an environment where people can work together to improve their work
processes. If the ownership or senior management does not buy into this concept you will never
succeed. Many people in leadership roles are either too set in their ways or closed minded to the
necessary change needed to really improve the way things get done. You have to buy into the
concept that there is always a better way to do something. By tapping into all the knowledge and
experience your employees possess, you develop solutions that not only improve your execution,
you provide everyone with a sense of accomplishment.. These process improvement teams give
employees a chance to help steer the future direction

of the Civil War while revealing the way the thousands of deaths changed the United States as a
whole. She presents this testimony of history by telling the eight main ways the Civil War changed
the nation while including countless forms of evidence. This paper will review Fausts historical

book. The purpose of Drew Gilpin Faust writing this book remains incredibly clear as wanting to
show the different ways the Civil War directly affected the United States people and government.

the reader to get a better understanding about the war and the affect it had on the nation. Through
evidence and accounts from people in the war, Faust shows how and why the country changed on
both the government and the citizen front. For the government, the war showed them the flaws in
their soldier responsibilities. Because of the war the government changed many different policies to
deal with death, created national cemeteries, implemented better identification and numbering
systems, as well as worked out different programs to take care of the soldier s families. For citizens
the war changed their ways of mourning, thinking of the afterlife, their views on religion, their
process of burial, as well as their amount of respect each person held for the soldiers in the war.
The author makes clear that without the war many of the tactics and ideals the country has in place

The Fight for Racial Equality In North Carolina Essay
Plessy vs. Ferguson was a landmark decision passed in 1896 that instituted the practice of separate
but equal in American society. The separate but equal doctrine was an oppressive system of racial
segregation which greatly lessened the rights of all minorities especially in public education. The
fight for educational equality made public schools in North Carolinaand other states in the south a
major area of conflict. Wilma Peebles Wilkins noted, Upward mobility through the educational

To Her Father With None
The poem To her father with some verses by Anne Bradstreet details a women s attempt to show
praise for her father while being unable repay him all that he has done for her. The first thing that
initially hits the reader is the tone of the poem. The first few lines paint an overall sad atmosphere
that continually engulfs the reader as the poem continues. The conclusion fo the poem leaves the
reader in a depressed state knowing that no matter what the women in the poem does, she can never
repay what her father has done for her. Add this with the fact the narrator mentions she plans to
continue this repayment until the day she dies. These ideas offer a similar take on Puritan culture.
Puritan families typically had the men spend enormous amounts

The New Child
THE NEW CHILD AT SCHOOL Working with young children demand a special attention
because leaving their parent could be very difficult for them. There, are always a hard time for
some children who come the first time in school. I see that at my work some children cry all day
long sometimes one or two weeks they still are crying. It is important that a familymember can
come with the childfor a short period to visit the class before starting the first day in which the
child can realize that he has not been abandoned. It is also at the beginning of the first few days,
family member can stay a few minutes with the child s classroom for additional reassurance. As
a teacher, it is important to help the family, as well as the child, say good bye, I love you, when
it is time for mother or father to leave. I find in the book one sentence that I agree with, families
should be encouraged to establish a routine that maintains trust for instance always waving, good
bye, hugging rather than sneaking out when the child is not looking. Some parents are dealing
like that just drop up the child and leave or if the child cries they sneak. Therefore, teacher who

My Mistakes In My Life
My mistakes and life have been just growing with me as I move further into my life. I have had
so much mistakes ever since I was a baby. I am really clumsy which makes it easy for me to make
tons of mistakes. I thought this would be an interesting topic because you learn from failure and
just got to accept that fact.
The Mistakes I Made as a Baby/Toddler:
The only way I knew of all these mistakes I made as a baby was because my parents recorded
everything when I was a baby. I was an angry baby my parents said because whenever they took a
picture of me I would be making my angry baby face .
My family and baby me went to a park and, of course, my parents were recording me. I was a mad
as usual for no reason. I ran away with my chubby little baby legs. My parents were freaking out
because they couldn t spot where I was until... THUMP!
I bumped into a hotdog stand and fell on the ground. I started crying like the huge baby I was. My
parents to this day don t trust what I am doing when I start to wander off.
Another mistake I have made in my baby life is, I was at a funeral, my parents were being respectful
so they didn t record me. I was around 3, my parents say, I wanted for them to carry me but, my
parents didn t want to. Baby me was, of course, angry because my parents didn t want to carry me.
And I started crawling in the aisle so no one can see me. It was super easy to see me, and my
parents started having a panic attack because they had no clue where I was heading to. My
parents were surrounded by people so they couldn t run over to me and grab me, quickly. Also, my
parents were going crazy and when that happens you don t think of the simplest ideas. My brother,
though, could get around the crowd and most likely reach me before I did anything dumb.
My brother starts crawling through all the people trying to reach me. Just imagine this, you see
a 3 year old crawling towards the altar and then you see a 8 year old about 5 feet behind that baby.
My baby eyes saw that my brother was behind me and as the smart baby I was I start going in
different directions. My brother finally stands up and sees what I am doing. He starts lunging
towards me so he can reach me faster. If he was just one foot closer he

Morte d Arthur Essay
Morte d Arthur In the Medieval Period, knights dedicated their lives to following the code of
chivalry. In Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, a number of characters performed chivalrous
acts to achieve the status of an ideal knight. Their characteristics of respect for women and
courtesy for all, helpfulness to the weak, honor, and skill in battle made the characters King
Arthur, King Pellinore, and Sir Gryfflette examples of a what knights strove to be like in Medieval
society. Because of the examples ofchivalry, Le Morted Arthur showed what a knightdesired to be,

This was considerate behavior because even though he was angry, he was polite and allowed
them to leave safely. The warning also showed his courtesy because he could have not told them
in anticipation of their return in order to kill them because of their disagreement. These two
examples of King Arthur s respect for the Lady of the Lake and the Roman ambassadors made
him a model knight since he was obeying the code of chivalry. In addition to being courteous,
being helpful to the weak was another aspect of chivalry portrayed through characters in the
story. First, Arthur tried to be helpful to Merlin when he was being chased by ruffians. Arthur
chased them away while riding his horse. Merlin was not in real danger because of his magical
powers, but the intent of Arthur was to help someone who needed because he thought Merlin s
powers might have failed him. Another example of this chivalrous quality was illustrated during
the battle between King Pellinore and Sir Gryfflette. Pellinore knocked Gryfflette off his horse
and, swiftly ran over to him and loosened his armor. He then, lifted him gently onto his horse
(page 74). Sir Gryfflette was weak, and he was just knighted that day, so Pellinore did the
chivalrous action and helped him. Being helpful to the weak was a quality that all the knights were
trying to develop, and King Arthur and King Pellinore showed this attribute in their actions with

Analysis Of The A Pindaric Ode By Thomas Gray
The Bard. A Pindaric Ode by Thomas Gray is a poem which has been carefully constructed to
examine the idea of nationhood. Gray sought to explore the idea that there had been an ancient
British state within the poem s narrative, and the importance of Wales in that ancient nation. He
uses several techniques to try and create a sense of shared history through the poem, despite it
being entirely fictional. In order to give The Bard literary standing, and thus provide an effective
platform to broadcast his views, the poet makes several careful and deliberate choices in the poem
s structure and language to create a sense age and grandeur for the poem. By referring to both to
classical Greek poetryand popular and influential literary pieces, like Milton s Paradise Lost
(Gray 20), Gray manufactures standing for his poem. The full title specifies the poem as a
Pindaric Ode . Though this was not an uncommon form of ode and one which Gray used
frequently specifying that The Bard is a classical style of poem immediately sets the reader up with
the understanding that this poem will be written with the Greek style in mind, and thus gives it an
almost classical credibility. Although it was written before the Romantic period of literature, Gray s
use of landscape and nature, ask the reader to contrast the landscape to the actions of the English
army and begs comparisons between physical nature and human nature. Gray, whilst linking the

Midterm Paper I chose to do my research and reading on The Screwtape Letters written by C.S
Lewis, which is a novel written in unique perspective of a Senior Devil named Screwtape who
writes thirty one letters to his nephew Wormwood who can be considered somewhat of a novice
devil or demon of some sort. In these letters, as readers, we find that they are undated and that they
are meant to offer advice to his younger demon nephew as he attempts to steal the soul of a human,
referred to as the patient . We are first introduced to the concept of the patient rather than the human
when Screwtape explains to Wormwoodabout one of his first experiences with one. In his first
letter, Screwtape explains that the best way to lose the human is if the human somehow decides to
use reason because at that point, his reason will take him to God. He does this by teaching his
nephew that, Your business is to fix his attention on the stream. Teach him to call it real life and don

are first introduced to this idea in the introduction on the first letter when Screwtape states that The
trouble about argument is that it moves the whole struggle on to the Enemy s ground (2).

The Importance Of Technology During The Civil War
Technology after the civil war included railroad systems, steamboats and telegraphs. The rail
road systems were important civil war technology. They keep the war moving and also help

because the north was all about industry so they already had railroads and trains all throughout the
northern regions. The south had railroads as well but the didn t have as many tracks. One
example of how the railroad systems being used in the war is the battle of bull run. The railroads

Steamboats were another type of important technology used during the civil war. Steamboats played
a critical role in the civil war, mostly on the confederate side because they permitted the rapid

on steamboats in places like arkansas to move troops and supplies to shipping hubs like jefferson
county and prairie county.
Communication was necessary to win the civil war inventions like the telegraph and the typewriter
were helpful to both armies. An important piece of technology used in the civil war was the
telegraph. The telegraph was one of the most effective technologies used in the civil war. The
telegraph was important because it allowed commanders to instantly communicate with each other.
One example of how the telegraph helped changed america significantly was how abraham lincoln

Finding The Concentration Of Hard Water Ions
Finding the Concentration of Hard Water Ions in a Water Sample Using Complexometric Titration
By: Alya Barq
CHM 2046L
22 April 2016
Abstract:
Hard water is defined as water with an excess content of ions such as Mg2+ and Ca2+. Hard water
causes a variety of problems, among them being that hard water ions can block pipes and decrease
water flow, can cause scaly deposits to form where there is water contact, and cause an increase in
utility bills due to amassed scales in water heaters. In this experiment, a sample of tap water was
tested in order to determine the concentration of Mg2+, and then this value was compared to a limit
set by the World Health Organization. In order to carry out this task, a complexometric titrationwas
performed in which EDTA was used as the titrant, and a solution containing the tap water sample,
buffer, indicator, and a solution of MgCl2, was the analyte. It was found that the magnesium ion
concentration in the tap water sample was close to 0 M, and this led to the belief that there was a
flaw in experimental design. Nonetheless, the evaluation of hard water ion concentration in
drinking water and tap water is very important and according to the WHO, it should always be
below 500 mg/litre.
Introduction:
Water is given the name hard water when it contains significant concentrations of ions such as
Mg2+ and Ca2+. In many places around the United States, significant concentrations of CaCO3 and
MgCO3 dissolve into rainwater

Demagoguery
Throughout history, when it comes to a national crisis, many leaders and politicians tend to
advance towards what the people want to hear. In order to gain their audience s support, most
political leaders and public speakers use the practice of demagoguery to have useful influence held
towards their argument. In Patricia Roberts Miller s article Democracy, Demagoguery, and Critical
Rhetoric, analyzes what demagoguery is and how it affects the audience. Speakers or authoritative
figures that engage with demagoguery use strategies such as scapegoating and polarization in order
to establish a separation between in groups and out groups; in groups tend to form hateful
discrimination on out groups and define them with negative features. An example of
demagoguery that Roberts Miller uses is in Adolf Hitler s speech about how he wanted German
people to change their views and beliefs on the Jewish. Her article however, also consists of
several fallacies and may seem somewhat unethical. Throughout Wayne LaPierre s speech on the
Newtown Tragedy in 2012, there is usage of what Roberts Miller claims to be demagoguery.
Wayne LaPierre is the Vice President of the National Rifle Association (NRA). After the shooting
that occurred at Sandy Hook elementary, LaPierre expresses his sympathy for the families of the
loss and he then gathers the attention of parents who may be uneasy about their children s safety at
school. Throughout

The Disease of Alcoholism Essay
The Disease of Alcoholism
Alcoholism is a primary, chronic disease with genetic, psychosocial, and environmental factors
influencing its development and manifestations. The disease is often progressive and fatal.
Alcoholism is a complex disease with physical, social and psychological consequences, but it can
be treated through detoxification and anti anxiety drugs. What will be explained in this essay is
basically the history of alcohol, signs of one possibly being an alcoholic, possibilities to why one
becomes an alcoholic, and treatments for it.
In the past, alcoholism was often viewed as a moral weakness or character flaw; it was thought that
the person could stop drinking if he or she really wanted to. It wasn t until 1970, with ... Show more

The APA manual distinguishes between alcoholism and alcohol abuse
. The latter is a less severe
problem; unlike alcoholics, alcohol abusers do not develop physical withdrawal or compulsive
alcohol use. However, like alcoholics, their drinking has negative health, economic and social
effects. Both alcoholics and alcohol abusers need treatment, although the goals differ. In most cases
of alcohol abuse, the goal is to limit drinking, while for alcoholism, it is to stop drinking altogether.
Why some people become alcoholics remains a mystery, although most scientists now agree that a
combination of genetic and environmental factors increases a person s vulnerability.
Based on the results of Swedish adoption studies, some researchers divide alcoholism into two
types. Type I, the most common, occurs in both men and women and is associated with adult onset
alcohol dependence. This form, also known as milieu limited alcoholism, appears to be the result of
genetic predisposition and environmental provocation, according to NIAAA s 1991 publication
Alcohol Research: Promise for the Decade that is, the development of alcoholism in these cases is
an interaction between inherited predisposition and the person s life situations.
Type II, or male limited, alcoholism, on the other hand, is due mainly to genetics. It occurs only in
men, usually with early onset in the teen years, and is more difficult to

Racism In Manzanar And Mr. Wakatar
Another large problem that impacted both societies was the racism that both the people of
Manzanar and Cuba had to face. In many cases racism had severely affected both societies,
whether it be economic, social, or even cultural ways. One of the effects of racism that affected
both societies, took place during the aftermath. After the people were released from the camps,
finding work and attempting to recreate what they used to have become surreal. In the book our
main character says to Mr. Wakatsuki I have been living in this country nine years longer than you
have. Do you realize that? Yet I am prevented by law from becoming a citizen. I am prevented by
law from owning land. I am now separated from my family without cause... People from

Participants were compensated approximately $__ for their participation, which was the rate
recommended by Amazon s guide to Best Practices for mTurk. We did ask for demographical
information like race, gender, age and receding state. Participants had to be married for at least 3
through 25 years. We only used first time marriage participants in order to reduce any
compounding variables. PROCEDURE Participants were given an informed consent. Random
numbers were given to each participant and were randomly placed in one of the three groups:
positive humor, avoidant humor, and control (somatic features). The manipulation for this study
was to prime each group differently before taking the questionnaires. The positive humor group
was asked to think of a moment when their spouse used positive humor, humor used to reduce
tension and bring closeness. The avoidant humor group was asked to think of a moment when
their spouse used avoidant humor, humor that is used to avoid conflict or change the topic. The
control group was then asked to think of their spouse s somatic features. Each group then had to
take two measures the KMS (Kansas Marital Satisfaction) scale and the CSI (Couples
Satisfaction Index). MEASURES KMS In order to measure marital satisfaction, we used the KMS
scale (Schumm, 1986). The KMS is a short 3 item, 7 point Likert scale. The KMS was used to ask
participants their level of marital satisfaction based on their satisfaction with their marriage, spouse,

beginning and end of all music. (Max Regar, German composer)
It has been said by many critics that Johann Sebastian Bach is one of the most influential composers
of all time. It is evident that in Bach s lifetime, excluding Opera, he seemed to master almost every
genre of music existing in his lifetime as well as helping to invent several new ones, the most

PAYMENT SYSTEMS AND WORKING HOURS In order to attract workers and to retain the

individual employers, but also at the level of society. WAGE AND PAYMENT SYSTEMS In

The Problem With Body Dysmorphic Disorder ( Bdd )
Concerns about one s own appearance are not uncommon. The majority of people that dislike a
certain aspect of their appearance may occasionally refer to it negatively and leave it at that,
whereas someone with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) will refer to their perceived flaws so
much so that it affects their life on a daily basis (The BDD Alliance, 2016). About 1.7% to 2.4%
of the general population is affected by BDD, meaning that about 1 in 50 people have the
disorder (Phillips, n.d.). Fortunately, there is a generous amount of information available about
the history of BDD, which includes its causes, effects, treatments, and much more. History The
earliest documentation of BDD was made by Italian psychiatrist Enrico Morselli in 1891 (Vashi,
2015). He referred to it as dysmorphophobia , derived from the Greek word dysmorfia dys
meaning abnormal and morfia meaning shape (Phillips, 2009). In one of Morselli s papers, he
described BDD as: [...] the sudden appearance and fixation in the consciousness of the idea of
one s own deformity; the individual fears that he has become deformed [...] or might become
deformed, and experiences at this thought a feeling of an inexpressible disaster. ( History of
Body Dysmorphic Disorder , n.d.) While a lot has changed during the century since Morselli
documented BDD, the specifics of the disorder have remained relatively the same. Causes A
variety of theories have been proposed to explain the source of BDD, but a conclusive cause

The Role Of Self Conflict In Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon...
From the numerous amount of short stories Elizabeth Bowen has written, none of them were
anthologized as often as The Demon Lover. The Demon Lover was written by Elizabeth Bowen
and was published in 1945 and retold several times afterwards through various authors who had
different interpretations of the text. Elizabeth Bowen portrays the Man vs. Self conflict through
diction, sentence structure and limited dialogue. Reconciling from past memories is difficult
regardless of how many years have gone by. Kathleen Drover is never reconciled with her lost

Mao Zedong Of The Communist Party Of China
In the 1960 s the Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong feared that China
would move too far in a revisionist direction with an emphasis on expertise rather than on
ideological purity as the Soviet model was doing. In response Mao gathered a group of radicals
such as Defense Minister Lin Biaoto help him attack current party leadership to reassert the
authority he had lost during the recent economic crisis and the Great Leap Forward. In 1966, Mao
launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution(1966 1976). The goal of the movement was to
purify Chinese society by upholdling only true Communist ideology. This was an attempt to
revive the revolutionary spirit that had led to victory in the civil war decades earlier and the
formation of the People s Republic of China. Mao claimed that bourgeois foundations had
infiltrated the government and society with the intentions of restoring capitalism. Mao believed
that the current Communist leaders were guiding China in the wrong direction and as a result he
called the nation s youth to purge capitalist and traditional fundamentals from Chinese society and
re impose Maoist thought in their place. This lead to a violet class struggle, as China s youth
responded to Mao s call by forming Red Guard groups around the country. The movement was soon
amplified to a class struggle on all fronts as it spread into the military, the urban workers and even
the Communist Party leadership. President Liu Shaoqiand other Communist

The Importance Of A Firm Within A Business Network
The aim of a firm within a business network is above the normal profit or at least normal profit

company with high return have to think about the position in the business network which contains

IKEA has relatively low supplier powers it has approximately 1380 suppliers in around 54
countries and IKEA has multiple sources in a modular fashion to implement procurement.
During the production process, IKEA do not reply on less number of manufactures but all the
design are completely modularized, so that different modules can be assigned to different
manufacturers. By doing so IKEA could also reduce the risk and reduce the power of supplier.
In addition, threat for a new entrant for a home and furniture industrial is important. There has
no legal restriction for a new business to enter the market. However it is very hard for the new
business to make profit from economics of scale as same as IKEA in the early stage of running
business. IKEA has been became a successful entrant and perfectly turn the business into an
international furniture market due to their good performance in the market ,at the same time,
IKEA also stop other competitors from entering the market. Therefore, the threat for new entrant
for IKEA is quite low. Next, as long as the bargaining power of buyers is concerned, there is a
very low pressure for IKEA as in the U.K., most of the customers are very price sensitive which
will definitely increase their buying power. Since IKEA has a lot of competitors in the U.K. which
will cause IKEA simply make amendment on price such as John Lewis. Although

Character Analysis Of Charlotte Douglas
Surprisingly, I found myself liking Charlotte Douglas from Didion s novel more than any of the
other characters that we have read so far. Grace s initial analysis of Charlotte as someone who
merely dreams their life left me with the impression that she was not going to be a character I
would relate to or even remotely identify with. As the book went on, Charlotte grew on me more
and more. I loved how mysterious behaviors such as her frequent visits to the airport were
explained early on in the book as a mere vehicle for socialization, masquerading, and entertainment,
leaving the readerto view her with a certain degree of disdain. Later in the book, the reader begins
to realize that Charlotte is possibly using the airport as a means of... Show more content on

Churchgoing Christian men are convinced they are on a moral crusade to violently put an end to the
convent in Ruby only through a series of misunderstandings that lead them to believe that mass

often particularly like many characters in the novels they read, insights can absolutely be gained
from them.
The differing styles in approaching perspectives in their storytelling between Didion and the
combination of Boyle and Morrison have significant effects on each of their stories. Didion
chooses to provide her story through the use of a singular narrator, while Boyle and Morrison
choose to offer multiple perspectives. At no point did I feel like my involvement in A Book of
Common Prayer was affected negatively by the use of a singular narrator. By only introducing
the reader to Grace s point of view, the reader is able to fully immerse themselves in the allure of
Charlotte Douglas s character and Grace s fascination with her. The reader is able to see their own
opinion of Charlotte change just as Grace s does when she is provided with new information about
her character. Had Didion s novel been from multiple perspectives, it likely would have been a
vastly more political novel, with the tensions of Marin, Antonio, Gerardo, and Victor s characters
being highlighted. The singular perspective of A Book of Common Prayer allows for more

Evidence Based Practice In Nursing Theory
Nurses are confronted with a variety of issues, concerns, and conditions. All of these circumstances
require the use of various theories. According to Im and Chang (2012), there are many theories in
nursing that center on enduring issues, as well as the current issues that nurse s encounter. For this
reason, nursing theories can address the complexity of healthcare issues. This is especially true for
APNs who must meet more demanding health care needs. As an APN, there is a greater need to
understand the connection between theory and practice. McCrae (2012) stated that evidence based
practice is meaningful in regards to nursing theories, especially for the modern clinical
environments which consist of multidisciplinary teams. APN are

At the time of implementation, San Bernardino County faced bankruptcy, which created challenges
for the department. Being the first police department to implement body cameras department wide
was its own challenge within itself at a time when crime was at an all time high.
Despite the numerous challenges Rialto Police Department faced, the department was able to
improve transparency measures between officers and citizens. The department was able to
efficiently manage funding issues by using state and federal dollars to fund their project. The Rialto
Police Department s story is important to tell because the department was able to attack issues of
efficiency, transparency, and funding in a crime ridden city. The Rialto Police Department
implementation highlights the challenges and successes of implementing body cameras.
Background

Swiss Family Johann Davis Wyss
Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go . In The Swiss Family
Robinson , Johann Davis Wyss tells the story of a family shipwrecked on an uninhabited
Island. The Robinson family was in a unique situation where they could either fail or flourish.
Not only did they flourish, but the parents, especially the father, used every obstacle and every
day as an opportunity to teach their four sons to become proper, godly men. Wyss does not simply
tell a tale of adventure, but teaches lessons to the readers just as the Robinson father did with his
sons. All people, especially children, are in need of admonition. With guidance from their parents,
the boys became more obedient, diligent and wise men in each passing chapter. ... Show more

When on the island, they thanked God for the provisions that existed on the island. God was the
cornerstone of their lives. The father led them in prayer every morning before working, and every
night before sleeping. Throughout their excursions the father taught the boys parables when

cajack , a storm rolled in and the family did not know what became of Fritz. Mother put her trust
in Him who alone can comfort (273). When Fritz is found, he is grateful for all God did for him.
At the beginning of the story Fritz only seemed impressed with his own designs, now he thanks the
Lord without priding himself his own abilities.
When one of the boys brought home his bounty with an air of pride the other boys became
jealous. The father chided the boy to not be boastful and reminded the other boys of the
importance of their work. Later, when Fritz brings back a fantastic bird the boys cheered Bravo!

  • 4. Chemical And Biological Properties Of Soil Pollution It is always difficult to remove contaminations from soils because it contains many toxic chemicals such as (Pb, As, Cu, Cd, Cr, Ni, Hg and Zn). This chemicals mixed with the soil after burning of industrial waste, electronics waste or uses of agricultural technology. Then rain water makes it seep deep into the soiland cause soil pollution. This makes it so difficult and time consuming to remove, particularly when the affected area is on a large scale. Soil is made of by two components which are organic and inorganic solid constituent, water and mixture of different gasses present in various proportions. The mineral component in the soil varies, according to the parent material which the soils had been developed due to the issue of different type of climate conditions. Also, soil can also be classified into three different properties, physical, chemical and biological properties. Physical properties of soil are being controlled by soil water movement, such as texture and soil structures. The soil moisture have high tendency in controlling solute movement, salt solubility, chemical reaction and microbiological activities and most importantly the bioavailability of metal ions. In this situation, a successful phytoremediationprogram must be considered as an alternative in the specific site. In the past lots of researchers have tried different method in order to mitigate or reclaim the heavy metals polluted soils, but so far phytoremediation is the best of all because it is ... Law School Scandal Addendum I would like to take this opportunity to respectfully make the Admissions Committee aware of the extenuating circumstances surrounding my academic dismissal from New York Law School. I was granted admission to New York Law School in the fall of 2012. Unfortunately, I was academically dismissed from NYLS for academic deficiency after my first semester. Life events beyond my control adversely affected my overall academic performance. In the months following my law school admission to NYLS, my mother s health condition began to deteriorate rapidly. I, once again, was dismissed from law school after my first semester. This time, my mother s health had nothing to do with my dismissal from law school. A different type of life event, a case of infidelity, adversely affected my overall academic performance. As a man who is a true gentleman, I will not provide much context or detail about the nature of the infidelity. I relocated to Florida along with my ex fiancГ©e. Apparently, she became enamored with another man who lived in the same complex building we lived in. I found out of her unfaithfulness days before review session week. One afternoon, I decided not to remain in the law library, as accustomed, and go home early to study; and the worst case scenario, you can imagine, occurred. Words cannot express what I felt when I discovered my ex fiancГ©e with her lover in my apartment. This experience was perhaps one of, if not, the most excruciatingly painful experiences I have ever endured. After this event, which happened days before review session week commenced, I was not able to remain focused enough to continue with my studies; and did not function the way I wanted to. Frankly, I was in an absent minded state, my mind was filled with multiple thoughts, doubts, and questions, I was emotionally distraught and dealt with a variety of emotions ranging from grief, insecurity, and embarrassment to guilt; and instead of focusing on my studies I became more concerned with trying to figure out what had gone wrong in my relationship. As a result, I missed classes, group study meetings, and review sessions prior to finals; and consequently, I underperformed and paid the price, as I was academically dismissed from FAMU College of Law at the end of the semester. • 9. Chaucer And The Roman Catholic Church Chaucer and the Roman Catholic Church In the years of the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church reigned. It not only influenced people s lives, but in some ways led them. From what they believed, how they treated women, how they worked, and how they prayed, the Roman Catholic Church obviously had a large influence. We know this today by simply reading the reading the literature from that period, whether it is simple poems like Beowulf or Dream of the Rood, or bigger stories such as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. These stories are riddled with Catholic teachings and mentions, whether they re brought up in a good light, or a negative one. Oddly enough, we rarely see the latter. One of the few stories that do show Roman Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the Wife explains, she used her sexual power to dominate her husbands. In an essay put out by Portland state University, it says that In the Middle Ages, many members of the Church began to see sex and lust as a sin created by The Fall. This is further shown in Scripture itself in many places, one of them being 2 Corinthians 12:21: I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged. 2 Corinthians 12:21 Another, shorter verse, would be Ephesians 5: 3: But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God s holy people. Ephesians 5:3 The Wife of Bath, though she was of the Roman Catholic Church herself, went against this. Her argument in justifying herself is simply this: there are plenty of people in the Bible that used their sexual power to dominate others, such as David, Solomon, and many others. If they could do it, why couldn t she? Giving such an argument, she twists the very Scripture that the Church teaches. The question then is, if she was in the Catholic Church, why was she allowed to continue with her sexual dealings? With this character, Chaucer hints at a small corruption in the Church, that there were people who as members of it, were allowed to live in horrid sins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Led Zep Stairway To Heaven Led Zep Stairway testimony results in win Members of Led Zeppelin are feeling a whole lotta love for members of a Los Angeles jury who ruled in favor of the British rockers in a court case claiming copyright infringement. Allegations were that the group s signature song Stairway to Heaven was built on a ripped off riff from 60s psychedelic band Spirit. Testimony from band members and Stairway writers, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, along with testimony from bandmate John Paul Jones were key in helping the jury come to a decision in the case. Plant lightened the mood in the courtroom on one occasion when Francis Malofiy, the attorney representing the estate of Randy Wolfe (a.k.a. Many animals don t receive backlash for the food they eat because, even us, human beings understand that it s necessary to obtain proteins. However, the Big, Bad Wolf will always be unfairly criticized for eating pigs. Even though society views the wolf as malicious, that is very far from the truth as proven in sources B, C, and H because the wolf deserves to eat food as much as the pigs do. You re obliged to feed yourself as much as any person or animal is. Food is such an essential item you could say that everyone deserves to eat. However, many tried to verbally attack the wolf in his decision of eating the pigs. Nevertheless, you re right, nobody should take accountability because wolves [decide to] eat cute animals (Source B). He uses several techniques to try and create a sense of shared history through the poem, despite it being entirely fictional. In order to give The Bard literary standing, and thus provide an effective platform to broadcast his views, the poet makes several careful and deliberate choices in the poem s structure and language to create a sense age and grandeur for the poem. By referring to both to classical Greek poetryand popular and influential literary pieces, like Milton s Paradise Lost (Gray 20), Gray manufactures standing for his poem. The full title specifies the poem as a Pindaric Ode . Though this was not an uncommon form of ode and one which Gray used frequently specifying that The Bard is a classical style of poem immediately sets the reader up with the understanding that this poem will be written with the Greek style in mind, and thus gives it an almost classical credibility. Although it was written before the Romantic period of literature, Gray s use of landscape and nature, ask the reader to contrast the landscape to the actions of the English army and begs comparisons between physical nature and human nature. • 34. The Screwtape Letters By Byc.s Lewis Kristen Isles Professor Cootsona RELS 180 10/15/15 Midterm Paper I chose to do my research and reading on The Screwtape Letters written by C.S Lewis, which is a novel written in unique perspective of a Senior Devil named Screwtape who writes thirty one letters to his nephew Wormwood who can be considered somewhat of a novice devil or demon of some sort. In these letters, as readers, we find that they are undated and that they are meant to offer advice to his younger demon nephew as he attempts to steal the soul of a human, referred to as the patient . We are first introduced to the concept of the patient rather than the human when Screwtape explains to Wormwoodabout one of his first experiences with one. In his first letter, Screwtape explains that the best way to lose the human is if the human somehow decides to use reason because at that point, his reason will take him to God. He does this by teaching his nephew that, Your business is to fix his attention on the stream. Teach him to call it real life and don t let him ask what he means by real (2). Ironically, the devil s resort to calling God, the Enemy . We are first introduced to this idea in the introduction on the first letter when Screwtape states that The trouble about argument is that it moves the whole struggle on to the Enemy s ground (2). Wormwood must find his opportunities by getting his patient to make unwise choices or let his emotions get the best of him. When the patient turns to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Communication was necessary to win the civil war inventions like the telegraph and the typewriter were helpful to both armies. An important piece of technology used in the civil war was the telegraph. The telegraph was one of the most effective technologies used in the civil war. • 36. Finding The Concentration Of Hard Water Ions Finding the Concentration of Hard Water Ions in a Water Sample Using Complexometric Titration By: Alya Barq CHM 2046L 22 April 2016 Abstract: Hard water is defined as water with an excess content of ions such as Mg2+ and Ca2+. Hard water causes a variety of problems, among them being that hard water ions can block pipes and decrease water flow, can cause scaly deposits to form where there is water contact, and cause an increase in utility bills due to amassed scales in water heaters. In this experiment, a sample of tap water was tested in order to determine the concentration of Mg2+, and then this value was compared to a limit set by the World Health Organization. In order to carry out this task, a complexometric titrationwas performed in which EDTA was used as the titrant, and a solution containing the tap water sample, buffer, indicator, and a solution of MgCl2, was the analyte. It was found that the magnesium ion concentration in the tap water sample was close to 0 M, and this led to the belief that there was a flaw in experimental design. Nonetheless, the evaluation of hard water ion concentration in drinking water and tap water is very important and according to the WHO, it should always be below 500 mg/litre. Introduction: Water is given the name hard water when it contains significant concentrations of ions such as Mg2+ and Ca2+. In many places around the United States, significant concentrations of CaCO3 and MgCO3 dissolve into rainwater ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Democracy, Demagoguery, And Critical Rhetoric Julia Vu Professor Parker RWS 200 21 March 2015 Demagoguery Throughout history, when it comes to a national crisis, many leaders and politicians tend to advance towards what the people want to hear. In order to gain their audience s support, most political leaders and public speakers use the practice of demagoguery to have useful influence held towards their argument. In Patricia Roberts Miller s article Democracy, Demagoguery, and Critical Rhetoric, analyzes what demagoguery is and how it affects the audience. Speakers or authoritative figures that engage with demagoguery use strategies such as scapegoating and polarization in order to establish a separation between in groups and out groups; in groups tend to form hateful discrimination on out groups and define them with negative features. An example of demagoguery that Roberts Miller uses is in Adolf Hitler s speech about how he wanted German people to change their views and beliefs on the Jewish. Her article however, also consists of several fallacies and may seem somewhat unethical. Throughout Wayne LaPierre s speech on the Newtown Tragedy in 2012, there is usage of what Roberts Miller claims to be demagoguery. Wayne LaPierre is the Vice President of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The APA manual distinguishes between alcoholism and alcohol abuse . The latter is a less severe problem; unlike alcoholics, alcohol abusers do not develop physical withdrawal or compulsive alcohol use. However, like alcoholics, their drinking has negative health, economic and social effects. Both alcoholics and alcohol abusers need treatment, although the goals differ. In most cases of alcohol abuse, the goal is to limit drinking, while for alcoholism, it is to stop drinking altogether. Why some people become alcoholics remains a mystery, although most scientists now agree that a combination of genetic and environmental factors increases a person s vulnerability. Based on the results of Swedish adoption studies, some researchers divide alcoholism into two types. Type I, the most common, occurs in both men and women and is associated with adult onset alcohol dependence. This form, also known as milieu limited alcoholism, appears to be the result of genetic predisposition and environmental provocation, according to NIAAA s 1991 publication Alcohol Research: Promise for the Decade that is, the development of alcoholism in these cases is an interaction between inherited predisposition and the person s life situations. The majority of people that dislike a certain aspect of their appearance may occasionally refer to it negatively and leave it at that, whereas someone with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) will refer to their perceived flaws so much so that it affects their life on a daily basis (The BDD Alliance, 2016). About 1.7% to 2.4% of the general population is affected by BDD, meaning that about 1 in 50 people have the disorder (Phillips, n.d.). Fortunately, there is a generous amount of information available about the history of BDD, which includes its causes, effects, treatments, and much more. History The earliest documentation of BDD was made by Italian psychiatrist Enrico Morselli in 1891 (Vashi, 2015). He referred to it as dysmorphophobia , derived from the Greek word dysmorfia dys meaning abnormal and morfia meaning shape (Phillips, 2009). In one of Morselli s papers, he described BDD as: [...] the sudden appearance and fixation in the consciousness of the idea of one s own deformity; the individual fears that he has become deformed [...] or might become deformed, and experiences at this thought a feeling of an inexpressible disaster. Mao Zedong Of The Communist Party Of China In the 1960 s the Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong feared that China would move too far in a revisionist direction with an emphasis on expertise rather than on ideological purity as the Soviet model was doing. In 1966, Mao launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution(1966 1976). The goal of the movement was to purify Chinese society by upholdling only true Communist ideology. This was an attempt to revive the revolutionary spirit that had led to victory in the civil war decades earlier and the formation of the People s Republic of China. Mao claimed that bourgeois foundations had infiltrated the government and society with the intentions of restoring capitalism. Mao believed that the current Communist leaders were guiding China in the wrong direction and as a result he called the nation s youth to purge capitalist and traditional fundamentals from Chinese society and re impose Maoist thought in their place.
