About Liluah workshop
The Railway Carriage and Wagon Workshop was established by East Indian
Railway Company at Howrah and shifted to the present location at Liluah in
1900.
The workshop is spread over an area of 299,000 sq m and has a staff
strength of 9,990.
The workshop is primarily engaged in overhauling of coaches.
Only workshop in india where the RAJDHANI express is overhauled.
L shop
This shop deals with the maintenance of various types of wagon.
The wagons are mainly categorized into four types:
1.BLC-BOGIE LOW CONTAINER PLATFORM WAGON
2.BVZI-BREAK VAN FITTED WITH ICF BOGIE
3.BOXN-BOGIE OPEN FITTED WITH AIR BRAKE WAGON
4.BCN-BODY COVERED WAGON

LHB SHOP
• This shop deals with the maintenance of coaches of Rajdhani, Duronto.
• produced by Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, India.
• The coaches are designed for an operating speed up to 160 km/h and could
go up to 200 km/h.
• Indian Railways have decided to replace the conventional air-conditioned and
non-air-conditioned Integral Coach Factory made coaches with the LHB
coaches in all the trains by the end of 2016.

M Shop
 The following are the basic work done in M
shop(Maintenance)
 Primarily overhauling of ICF,BEML and RCF coaches is
done.
 Coach replacement and dismantling
 Dismantled parts are sent to respective shops for analysis
 Basic Parts of a coach - Body and Bogie
 Lower portion of the body comprises of Headstock, Outer
Headstock and Inner Headstock

 I section between Inner Headstock and Outer Headstock
 Trough Floor on which the body rests
 Body has Bogie Bolster on its two ends to fit into the Bogie
Parts of Bogie Bolster are- Centre Pivot at the centre and side bearers at the two sides
 Portion of the body between body bolsters act as simple supported beam
End of the body from the body bolster act as cantilever beam
8 lifting pads at the sides of the body used for overhauling
WELDING SHOP
• Welding is the process of joining of two similar metals or dissimilar metals.
C SHOP
CORROSION TREATMENT SHOP deals with the corrosive treatment of the railway body parts.

• This shop deals with the
